Cedrick Wilson Jr. on Run Blocking, Open Practice in Superdome | Saints Training Camp 2024

I'm good how about yourself who's gonna start it off your veteran presence in thater room is this almost kind of a new experience for you being more experienced most experienced guy uh yeah I mean it's definitely different uh being the oldest guy in the room for the first time um in my career but I think I'm still fairly young obviously um still playing running around feeling good have you tried to lean into that just like your experience to out um for sure if I see something that they're doing that I um would have done earlier in my career I trying to give them my advice um but I mean most of the guys here they know that this is a business so they don't really need much teaching unless they ask me something then I'll have the answer for them you mention Pride uh I mean I found pride in it last two seasons so didn't uh when I first start playing receiver I definitely just wanted the ball but learned that that was a big part of the game on my last two seasons and now coming over here um just showing the other guys that this is what it takes for the offense to succeed um that's what I want to show because once we do block our key players I mean Alvin and the other guys are definitely getting to the Zone like you really kind of captured that third spot at least kind out how you there's like an open job I mean I don't look at it as one two or three I kind of um go in there and every but every te I've been on and just like this one I'm trying to secure a job for me my family and uh other than that whatever spot it comes with when I'm out on the field I'm going to do my job what do you feel like you made kind of the most strides here in training camp uh just the knowledge of the Playbook which is allowing me to play faster um now trying to just eliminate the little small issues but overall just having the confidence that I know I can do my job and then obviously know what's going on and what the plays are looking for and now I get a chance to put my eyes on the defense to see what they're running what was it like practicing in the for the first time and just having all the fans around it was nice being in the dome for the first time I think the last time I was in the dome I think was about probably like three years ago I think when I was with Dallas and I think I was actually inactive so I didn't even get to play but just being back here get to run around um seeing the Dome at full capacity I feel like it's it helps you with being overwhelmed when you step in here for the first time has been great just seeing you know Tuesday night you saw you know two Lan you saw a bunch of fans there today um versus how you know the beginning of camp where was just you guys out in California does it kind of I guess level for you guys those situations right I don't think it ramps up the um the level competition cuz we go hard I feel like every day out there but it definitely um feels like a little more juice from the fans when plays happen you hear like the little cheers um from the crowd that we had and it's actually good to see the fan base out here you always hear about it um New Orleans have always had a great fan base so just seeing the community come out not only um here today but at T Lane uh the other night was definitely special C obviously you part of the team last year had a really good running attack what's kind of been your your impressions of the way they've implemented that uh yeah well last year I didn't really know um well past two years I didn't really know much about the offense so it was kind of like the speed element of it um now I'm starting to figure out all like the Nicks and crannies of what's going to make the offense go and seeing the backs that we have in this room I feel like we have one out of like each caliber like we have a speed we have a power we got a Shifty back so I feel like when it when the game comes around to see how they run is going to that's what's going to tell me just like you of how they're dynamic in this offense you see a lot about how Keith Williams is on the field what's he kind of like behind the scenes the receiver room uh about just the same as intense you see him on the as as intense as you see him like on the field that's how he is in the meeting room he says he's the same person every day and he definitely holds true to it how you come to take on the rugby ball integration that yeah I never did it before but honestly I feel like that's actually um it's actually a great drill because when you go to catch the football is so small and it's um way easier to catch kind of feels like a like a college ball or high school ball after you put your hands on the rugby um so I definitely I definitely like that drill photo picture oh he says photo on the catch so just like if you're looking through the lens of your phone or a camera when you take a picture of whatever the lens see that's what you're going to capture so when you take a picture of the ball you don't want to be looking out of your peripherals you want to be looking right at the ball and that's what he means by like take a picture of it you should see the the um prints on the pig skin when you catch and kind of getting back you have AAS oh no I said I will have a better grasp of how it is here CU When I was in Miami I didn't really understand it it was just like some speed some speed running around um out here I can actually see like how the blocks what the blocks mean to the run and how different blocking schemes match up with different runs yeah is that like just matter of you being in this like style of offense for years now oh yeah just knowing the knowledge of it and not just going out there when he calls a player ready break going to do my job now I can see how everyone works together was your crack TOS block an example of that during the San Francisco game uh yes just I mean well that's that's part of my job is that's what we installed but um yeah I definitely learned how to do that over the over these couple years because I don't think I could have done that probably three years ago good all right good all right I appreciate y
