[Music] all right welcome back to the channel uh for today's video um I got out on the Friday before uh the Labor Day weekend so um it was going to be busy so my goal was to get in quick catch some fish and get off the water which I which I did um didn't catch a whole lot uh didn't have very long to fish uh and it it was starting to get really busy and it was really hot uh but I wanted to mention um you'll see me mention this in the video um I don't talk about gear a lot I just feel that every channel uh concentrates on gear a lot uh but occasionally I I'd like I like to you know um let you know what I'm using and uh one of the reasons I'm I'm talking about this is um I tried out a new rod and reel today uh throwing this fluke and if you pay attention I use ARC rods quite a bit um I'm not affiliated with them not sponsored uh just they make a good quality rod for relatively inexpensive uh so Arc Cobb series uh it's a 7 foot3 medium heavy and more importantly the reels right you probably can't see me very well but check out the Sunrise it's going to be a busy day here uh there's already several boats at or several trucks at the boat ramp holiday we this is a Friday of the holiday weekend so I not sure what to expect but even though it's so dark I'm going to start fishing cuz I can already tell it's going to be a bunch of people so the goal is to hurry up and catch a few you know catch some fish and get out of here I got an hour and a half of sleep and honestly I feel like crap it has been a tough week of work they're working me to death normally on a good day I've already caught one but I kind of expect it to be a little tougher than normal these fish just seem to instinctively know there's a holiday weekend huh water has really come down that there's a rock pile sticking out of the water right here a week ago it was underwater and I caught a fish on it I may have to switch it up and do something else but if you watch my channel you know I'm going to stick with the top water for a while first all right so I've moved quarter of a mile maybe back towards the you know further into the creek we'll see if that makes a difference man I can hear boats all over the place I prefer when there's not a whole lot of boats ooh this little Point here is is a high per there he is got him high percentage spot I was just getting ready to say oo oh it's a nice one too nice [Music] fish there we go how in the world all right nice chunky I don't know that's that's got to be a two pounder at least nice fish I'm telling you when you find something that works such as this spro EOP you stick with it right on the point textbook exactly where you think they're going to be right where he should have been still only one though oh there he did I get you yeah I did O I think it's another one about the same size oh this one's even bigger what happened to my fish grippers check that out nice big old spot I'm going to have to do some surgery cuz he I mean he ate it all right there he is nice one that took a little doing to get him unhooked well I'm going to have to put on a different top water all right there that's two fish on that point I like it so that's a clue as to where they're going to be be right on the point I'mma try over on the other side of this dock because it is a point as well or it's on the point just on the other side of the point on a good day I can just put the trolling motor down and just go and catch them all along these areas but I'm not so sure today is one of those days but that was too nice fish I mean pretty nice pretty good boy it's going to be hot today it's going to be mid 90s it's it's smoking hot right now usually when it's hot and humid like this the top water fishing's pretty goodoo I can feel the lack of sleep man it's good to be out I got plenty of sleep yesterday so but I'd like to I'd like to be done by 9:30 10:00 so I just talked to my buddy Alex here one of the best worm fishermen on lake laner and it appears I'm not the only one that's uh having a slow morning me and Alex used to kayak fish together back in the days when we were [Music] younger so I'm trying out a new Rod today and a new reel I I don't really like to advertise for anybody but uh if you pay attention I I use a lot of Arc rods and they had these rods buy one get one free you can't beat the deal same thing with the Reel and these reels that that's arc's own bait casting reel they're surprisingly nice and I got those buy one get one free it's been a while back but they have good sales and they're they're good quality stuff it's not not overly expensive cast like a dream I'm really impressed with they're real and of course I've got a lot of their rods the rod is a 7 fo3 medium heavy perfect for throwing this fluke man I like the reels these reels are nice I mean they're smooth and I'm a Shimano guy so but I'm you know I'm not tied to one brand or anything I I use what what I can get a good deal on and what works these These are nice reels I'm I'm impressed with the reels there we go nice spot on the fluke I just changed colors and I caught one in the First cast after I changed to this white and chartreuse nice little chunk interesting hopefully I can get another fish out of that fluke so that felt good it is uh you know we've reached the dreaded time of the year it's the uh the fall transition is upon us things could get tough here traditionally September is my toughest month on on lake laner that don't mean I'm not going to catch some fish though I saw a bass [Applause] in he hit it as soon as it hit the water great jet skis are out already man it's going to be it's going to be a tough day you want to make sure your fluke is rigged straight you don't want a cork screwing through the water you want it you know kind of twitching from side to side boy it's got to be it's got to be pushing 90 already wow I can see some bluegills right here in the there could be a there could be a bass lurking about here a big old gar coming up to oh I got got him oh he let go darn it I shouldn't have thrown in there oh well oh I was reeling it up and he came and got it it's a nice one too good one good fish good fish it's my best well not my best spot today I those couple of those top water fish were were pretty good nice chunk though nice nice spot man the old fluke deadly they just can't stand it and I'm going to have to get another one so I had started reeling it up what just happened what just happened to my camera I had started reeling it in to make another cast reeling it as fast as I could and I saw him open up his mouth behind it and come up just suck it in oh boy I better retie always check your line that might have cost me a fish there my line was really scuffed up I'll take it it's a slow day but you know that's i' I don't know what I've got four or five maybe and I'm pretty sure there's going to be some more [Applause] there we go oh it came off [Applause] darn it that had to be a big large mouth that would be my [Applause] guess I'll probably never know now oh maybe I will I don't know if this is the same fish or not probably not Hey Big Spot can man in inches inches of water that's a nice I mean that might be two lbs maybe pound and a half I I don't know doesn't really matter way back in the shallow water boy I'm not going to fish too much longer it's too hot it's too hot and I need some sleep so I'm I continue to be shocked at just how shallow some of these fish are that that I mean I'm back here in it's not very deep at all but there is shade should have had two there that first one was a pretty nice fish I'm pretty sure it's just about time for me to head home got it first large mouth of the day it's not a big one but this it's a tough day it is slow but I've caught five or six a couple nice ones and I'm working my way back to the boat ramp if I don't fall in first oh there's one following it I saw him take a swipe hit it all right thanks for tuning in um I don't talk about gear very much just I feel like it's been you know there's so many options and it's been done at nauseum everybody talks about gear but for today just so you know I'm was fishing a 7 foot3 medium heavy um Arc cob series rod and this is an arc gravity reel I'm really impressed with the Reel um both are relatively inexpensive and if you pay attention to their website you can get them buy one get one free um every once in a while and just a fluke and a five OD hook swivel up the line uh it was a tougher day uh but I still caught enough fish to keep it interesting but it's it's too hot and I got to go home and get a little sleep so I hope everybody has a good Labor Day I'm going to go home get some sleep and then I'll be laboring uh sign off here uh again I wanted to say I'm I'm I'm fishing a this fluke on a 7 fo3 medium heavy Arc cob series Rod uh I'm using uh 14 lb gamma fluorocarbon um got a five o hook I got a swivel about 2 feet up the line the swivel helps prevent line twist and it gives it a little tiny bit of weight to help get that fluke down a little bit and uh for anybody interested I only use two colors of fluke pretty much the entire year I use this uh it's kind of a chartreuse Pearl there's a name for it and I can't can't remember the name I think it might be lemon Shad anyway that's that I use that color and uh I use this uh pearl white with the shart tre's tail and I'll use those two colors the whole entire year but uh that's just a little bit of you know what gear I use for throwing a fluke uh
