Nicolas Cage is cast as John Madden in the new sports film!!!!

[Music] what's up everybody I'm J mck your favorite sports analyst with my favorite co-host James dwiz and tonight y'all going to get served with JJ Sports episode 72 James man how you feeling tonight man I feel great it's uh you know great to be back we're at 72 now and uh ready to go yeah man I'm feeling great feeling great feeling blessed man I'm glad to be on here thank y'all for just keep rocking with us uh we got we got a few topics for y'all we gonna cover tonight nice snipping but I'm G let my co-host James start the show James who we got first well I thought we'd go ahead and take a look that uh Nicholas Cage is cast as John Madden in a new sports film and uh so since Legendary Super Bowl winning head coach John Madden passed away in 2021 Amazon MGM is backing a new David O Russell film about the coach called Madden and they've got uh cage cast as the coach so um my first question what do you think about this cast as Nicholas Cage as John mat honestly James when I kind of looked into it I was just I was you know I had some questions but I think I think he'll be a good fit though honestly you know what I mean you kind you gotta kind of give people a chance to see you know what I mean because he might surprise us he might be the best person to play uh John mat so I feel like we should just I think we should give him a chance for sure yeah I I definitely agree and he's definitely versatile enough to play Madden uh he does have an Oscar under his belt for uh winning for leaving Las Vegas um back in the 90s but um I know uh you know this past summer cage stared in the horror film long legs and it was a pretty wellmade horror film and it did make over hundred million do so he's pretty hot right now um yeah and what do you think Madden would have thought about cage playing him um they probably wouldn't expect it to be honest I feel like uh that definitely would have been surprising to a lot of people um but I don't think it would be much of a challenge because like I said does he have any like experiences far as man like uh how can he really sink into Madden you know the car him as a person that's kind of what I kind of want to see like yeah you got good acting skills but how can you sink in that you know in the sports world and you know what I mean well and then uh blending in too so it's like would would he wear Prosthetics or would they just go with how he looks now or exactly is it uh kind of like his back then look or kind of the current look he has now so I you know I think all of that we just gotta kind of find out and see um but I'm I'm for I'm all for it honestly yeah me too and uh the filmmaker David Russell has done two sports films in the past with the Silver Linings Playbook and um also the boxing film The Fighter which is based on a true story so he's got some experience there and uh he should be able to make a pretty good Madden film I did hear that Tom Hanks wants to be Raiders owner Al Davis which would be pretty interesting yeah do you think that Madden has become better known for his uh video games than his head coaching in the NFL that's a good question man honestly I would say right now I think a lot of people are focused on the games right now like the actual video game I know I am but I feel like he has pretty good coaching experience too because like I said it takes you need to have that anyway to make these type of games for the world and kind of know different play like you gotta kind of have all that down pack so um I would have to say his coaching probably would be more but I feel like more uh people probably zoom into the Madden though the games for sure yeah that is true because it's a video game it makes it more accessible uh pretty much to everyone so a lot of people have heard of Madden but maybe uh some of the younger kids today haven't necessarily heard about Madden the head coach exactly right they probably haven't and it's like once they uh find out it's like wow all this time we did know you know what I mean so yeah and uh I know uh Hugh Jackman and will frell were both considered for the role before cage was cast uh do you think that Nick Cage is a better fit for the role of Madden uh yeah but I feel like honestly May will pharoh could have probably pulled it off too though honestly or if he wanted to but I like I said cage I feel like cage a grow on me yeah that is true it's it just depends on like the type of film that they're making like if they're going to take it all serious approach or maybe if it's going to be a little light-hearted uh exactly Y and I know um like just looking at the video game of Madden I know it's definitely a great way to learn the game of football and uh you know a simulation like that is great for kids who are learning the sport and do you think that M can benefit football players at any level absolutely offense and Def defense uh you can do it to where you're only on defense where you're only on offense uh different playbooks different routes honestly especially for me when I play it really puts me in that coach mode like whatever team I'm on I'm like okay we're tied up let's run this place so we can you know what I mean so it really kind of get you in that coaching uh what would you do in real life type of uh deal in the game uh in in a similar situation so like I said Madden is really fun man and Madness you know it's kind of like homework for you you know what I mean for like real life in the game so yeah and I know the players they uh the NFL players they play mad and they love to play as themselves but also to uh see like an upcoming opponent's Playbook which you know very accurate playbooks that they have and also it like helps uh like High School rers get kind of a grasp on the different Playbook terminology which is helpful too yeah it is definitely is so the uh upcoming film is gonna focus on Madden developing the video game and I think that's going to be interesting to show how the sport translated from the physical into the digital world but I still hope that we see some sports there I mean we got to see him winning those super bowls and uh maybe talk his career like the start of his career right and I think another thing they should probably add on for M man like kind of do kind of not like what 2K does but add some of them old football teams kind of in the M you know what I mean kind of make it like a universal if you want to go back to 1970 play with those players you know what I mean like really get into you know whoever they can get whatever teams they could get but I feel like that would really make it like yeah be able to download any team or any player or rostery Moss just different type of players or if you want to make a un Allstar team like a all you know allamerican team that'll be cool too I agree and you know I have heard uh Madden and I think we've said it on the show before uh being called a $60 roster update um do you think Madden is going to remain a popular video game yeah I feel like it like I said um they just yeah for sure and then we got to think about it like all this new Talent is on the uh you know on the new roster right now I'm just wondering who's going to be on the next year's man how everything's going to play out honestly to me if I was to say a few people I would definitely say it could be Caleb Williams it could be a lot of people man honestly but uh that's I think that's what's going to make uh keep mad kind of in the mix it's like all these new talented players we want to see who's going to make it to the Super Bowl and get that you know next year game cover so yeah I'm just looking forward to uh this upcoming film though uh Madden with Nick Cage so y please let us know in the comments uh what you think you
