National grid is working to upgrade every home to a smart meter, and that change is a common gripe. >> Email to the Your Stories team. Newschannel Nine's Victoria Kellogg gets a closer look at them. Um, but those devices are still drawing, drawing power all the time. >> For example, this Tesla charging outside is using most of the power of National Grid smart home, the technology that it currently exists doesn't give you that information. >> What this will be able to do initially will be able to show your daily use what days you're using electricity, and you can see, for example, if you add an activity, if you have guests come over, if your kids come home from college and they start washing all their clothes, is your usage is going to go up. National grids, transitioned to smart meters is not just about individual saving. >> It's a critical step forward to smarter and greener energy network. >> The only way we know that you are without power is if you call us. That's over a bright impact on customers who sometimes feel left in the dark. >> In Clay Victoria Kellogg News, channel nine and National Grid is already made upgrades to about 10% of its 1.7 million customers in upstate
