welcome to the glass bowl in Toledo Ohio home to the Toledo Rockets a full house is in store and so too a terrific match up in this one we've got a sensational match up for you fans have been filing in and getting ready for this game as we'll see the UMass minute man taking on a team from the ma the too rocket for EA Sports college football Rees Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer time to get this game [Music] [Applause] started UMass will kick off and we'll be [Applause] underway on the run from inside zone five he was looking for some Running Room but much to be found as he stopped at the 18 so Toledo's offense will start this game off and this big fella can beat you in a number of different ways in the passing game David yeah so much fun to have a guy that I can rely on that can beat guys over the middle of the field that can beat manto man coverage this guy's the Ultimate Weapon and I love that this guy has an awesome catch radius you don't have to be perfect as a quarterback when you throw to him he can make you look good makes the stop at the 33 but it's a 15y game beautiful play call offensively at the perfect time in that situation the defense obviously expecting pass so they sneak the draw in and gash the defense and this set of downs gets started from the 33 first and 10 they're getting this guy lathered up pretty good effort on that one to work his way up to the 42 after the nyd pickup on first down here's second and one back to pass it's gleon fires to the big fella and he's knocked down but not before moving the chains and this junior loves to show off that big arm the give to the running back from the shotgun and a really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoided disaster and stopped the really big play quarterback on the keep and they'll bring him to the ground after a short gain after trying the running game on first down they come to the line on second down trying to make that Rush think on the draw play here wrestled down at the 26 it's a gain of four third and short from the 26 pretty easy field goal range but they'd love to pick up the first using the back as a receiver on the screen he steps out of bounds but will be enough for a first down excellent situational awareness to make the grab and get just enough for that first down and how about the play call they didn't want to hold on the football they wanted to get that thing out of their hand trust the receiver to make the catch and then what does he do gets the first down gets out of bounds new set of downs for this offense leaves it with the back P down after a pick up of five a statement run in the red zone to the 13 halfway there on first down it's second and five he'll keep it himself finally pulled down but not before moving the change for a first down oo I like that option play I'd keep running that too because it's obvious the defense right now is really keying in on this running back that was a big point of emphasis for them all week long in practice and it's opening up holes now for the quarterback to run the Rockets have it in scoring position on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run that play just never had a chance they knock him down for a loss of five defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming looking for a path to the end zone to the right and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land third and goal coming up here they go to the draw and they swarm him under it's fourth down and they'll try the field goal and he'll try it from the right hash and the angle shouldn't be too bad from this distance splits the uprights good and the first points of the day come on that field goal after putting up the field goal they're set to kick it [Applause] away here he comes from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 so UMass offense has its first opportunity of the day here are our impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week and we asked them who needs to step up and play while they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the key for their respective teams yeah and they don't always show up in the Box Score but these are the guys are the leaders these are the guys getting everybody organized and have to play well for their team to succeed complete down he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see which way that's going to go the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty to the air it's pachan he's got his man he's close to the first down but they're going to Mark him just a little short fairly manageable distance here on third down from the 27 they'll move those chains getting it out to the 29 yd line and trying to get this drive rolling Mass getting set to snap it on First and 10 to the ground he's got it again shakes off the tackler defense closed down quickly after a gain of three they'll mark it at the 32 looking to throw on second down caught behind the line it's John he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down passing game very effective on second now what about here on third to the ground to try to pick up the first they thought they could just run it on Third and short but this defense was there to make the stop fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way here's the fair Catch and he'll make it close to the 20 yd line guys let's see what too can get done on offense this time they've got the lead here last time they settled for a field goal but David got to find that balance between being aggressive and careful and I think they'll take that I got the lead Palmer I got the football I got to take care of the football put a nice drive together and just get some kind of points on this drive no doubt lots to be happy about right now if you're this team I think for this one though on this drive it's about finding the one-on-one matchups that are in your favor and then exploiting them now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass he's got the back in the middle they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs on the it's and the defense stops him just of the first down maybe needed a few more chain links to move the sticks he's looking for a man on second down he got a hand in there knocks it away and complete they have it at the 43 third and short trying to avoid making a decision on fourth down he'll pull it on the re and the rockets will move the sticks with the first down sixth play of the drive coming up wide receiver coming across in motion touch pass on the Jet Sweep and he breaks into the open offense on the move a big play there gets it to the 30 it's so hard for a defense to have to stop plays like that because it really forces you to play with great eye discipline you see the pre- snap motion defense doesn't know if he's just running across the field and he's going to run a route if he's going to block or if he has the football that time he was able to outflank the defense and hurt them to get that first down trying to find his man on first down oh he makes a catch and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up another first down man this this defense this defense couldn't stop a nose bleed right now it's that bad they use those backto back explosives to set him up first and goal he'll do it himself he'll be brought down at the five yd line and this defense is on it heels offense trying to pay it off on second and goal receiver on the Move gets the touch pass snowed under by the defense third and goal from way back there dropping back it's gleon feeling some heat and the quarterback is knocked down back at the 13 great timing by the defense there obviously the offense has the ball in the red zone and you're trying to create a negative play to back them up they do that with the sack and if they're now going to try a field goal it's going to be a little more work for the kicker it's wise not to be greedy and they'll go ahead and send out the field goal unit it's [Music] good so they were able to put up a three spot on that last drive and now the kickoff team out there as they prepare to put boot to leather on the move from inside is five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 the UMass offense returns to the field give to the running back running hard and getting six yd out to the 26 6yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four using his legs it's John defense in the right spot they stop him after a gain of two to the 28 here they come trying to convert a third and short from the 28 quarterback on the keeper and they spotted at the 38 and that will be plenty for the first down well with the weapons this offense has you knew it was just a matter of time in the Run game one was going to break a long one they' just been running into a wall they just couldn't seem to find their creases and get enough movement up front but they finally got it there picking up the first let's see what happens next from the shotgun they'll run it not a whole lot of room there three yard maybe second and seven when with the running game on first down now back at it they'll go right back to him they bring him down and he's going lose a yard on that one ball is at the 41 as this defense tries to force the punt on Third and long gets rid of it the quick out and he was Off to the Races finally tripped up at the 36 yeah and obviously great play by the offense to keep the drive alive and also good find by the quarterback on third down this UMass offense is moving quickly down the field they'll pick up four second and Six coming got a little work done on first down now back to the line going to the ground defense there to stop him after a gain of three but he is inside the 30 to the 29 wants to throw it's puman makes the grab over the middle they've got it just outside the Red Zone they'll move the chains it's at the 21 UMass getting set to snap it on First and 10 he's looking to throw it makes the grab it's Simpson and he'll run it into the end zone touchdown a methodical Drive Soul crushing Spirit breaking and it ends in a touchdown and listen I know everybody wants the big plays the big long touchdowns and all that stuff but putting a drive together like that is very difficult to do time and time again and it's demoralizing for the defense great drive by the offense he'll try to tack on one more and the extra point puts them on top by one so it's an 80 yard drive and they finish things off with a 21 yd touchdown pass he'll start the return inside his SP he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic that they get him on the ground at the 20 too has the ball here comes the offense guys that last trip a little disappointing having to take the three yeah I think Jesse you see so many offenses talk about getting yards and the tempo and all the stuff they do was a nice job moving the football but they got to get in the end zone this time yeah and I think to do that they just got to be more physical at the point of attack get some push up front they need to be the best running team in this game to win he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down and there you go you see you don't have to throw bombs to get big plays in the passing game just screen it to your running back as soon as he catches it gets up field and how about the downfield blocking by these linemen and the wide receivers as they rip off that explosive play moving the running back forcing the defense to adjust throws to the tight end to spot in the middle and there was lots of space as he gets it to the 39 yd line they'll give it to the back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple second down coming up they'll leave it with him crosses the 40 gets it down to the 35 before he stopped a gain of six lining up to convert third down looking to pass it's gleon unloads to the wide out he's got it there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give him a first down and I like having match ups outside like this guys that I know will win right away third down find my guy get in the Rock he gets the first down the Rockets are in the hurry up they'll run it in the Red Zone it's Stewart he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three got some work to do on second down after that last one they need 13 now the play fake gets it out quickly and he the lumber to stop him from getting the first down if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum on third down going up top he's got it in the end zone touchdown too and man that was a nice job by the tight end finding the soft spot in the defense in The End Zone on that TV [Music] ready to try the point after and the extra point is good and the lead is six they put together an 81 yd drive and the score comes on a 17 yd throw for the touchdown he'll bring it back from inside his SP he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the minute man going back to work on offense now they need to put something together to answer that last score there's a lot of pressure too on this offense to have to execute at a high level they've got to score points David but they can't go too fast because their defense right now is tied and I think that's the difficulty being a play caller like I have to balance all of those things my defense is a little bit tired I can't put on the field but I got to be aggressive because this back and forth type game so a lot to process and think about now on first down from the 28 Ed the play fake now to throw just too much juice on that one as he air mails his receiver out of bounds the incompletion leads to Second and 10 looking for a man it's puman snags it over the middle out across the 30 to the 39 after getting 10 on that one UMass getting set to snap it on First and 10 running back searching for a hole and the defense finally makes the stop after the sweet run and good gain they'll have it at the 49 just across Midfield first and 10 a shot toward the end [Music] zone and swatted down by the defense to stop the scoring opportunity wonder if they'll throw it again after the incompletion second and 10 from the 49 got a man it's Simpson really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down a new set of downs after the completion they'll throw it on first down looking left just a bit of a misfire there as they can't make the connection and now on second down for this offense they'll Run play action able to get just a few before sliding to avoid the hits well great job there by the defense because they weren't able to get him sacked right away but you saw the coverage in the back end nowhere for the quarterback to throw the football didn't get the sack obviously you don't get the negative play but you also don't give up a big one you're feeling pretty good about where you are right now in this drive headed to the line at the 23 trying to convert this third and short TOS sweep to the right and the defense knew exactly where that first down line was and they stopped him short now looks as if they'll settle for the field goal try oh look at this the kicker's going to run it and they thought they could pull off the surprise well the surprise was on them a stop you want to be bold and daring but sometimes you got to know when to just take the three gets it out fast and he'll get it up to the 38 it'll be a first down and this junior quarterback shows you why the scouts love that big arm of his while we're only through one these quarterbacks have been lighting up their stat lines lots of time left and we're ready to get back to it and open the second period first down here for the offense going to run it it's Stewart Bulls his way forward got three on first down it's second and seven that's a really nice play it's impressive when it's first down and the defense thinks you might be running the football you still can line up you can get some movement at the point of attack and find a little freeze for your running back they've got a good chunk of ground to cover on Third and long from the 41 it's a draw he's knocked down the the Back Field he'll lose a couple and the rockets line up to punt it away the punter going to get his first work of the [Applause] afternoon they'll get down and put a stop to this return they'll mark it at the 32 the UMass offense returns to the field to the air it's kumachan fires to the wide out makes the grab at the 4 there he goes the express way is wide open and he slipp through the crowd and he'll house it touchdown minute did not take long to get into the end zone now let's see if this gets this offense to hit overdrive and we may have a situation here we might have points more points and more points you keep putting Drives together like that that quickly tune up that much yardage defenses are going to have to get something fig it out on to attempt the try and the extra point gives him the lead of 1413 that drive not too taxing on the Playbook One play put it in the end zone just like that almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touch touch down and he takes this from inside the five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the rocket offense is back on the field off the play fake on first down and the quarterback goes down at the 11 yd line when it's a playaction pass that quarterback he really has to sell the fake he can't tell his offensive line getting beat right away while he's selling the fake he had no shot after getting nothing done on the last one this is a big play second and long from the 11 moving the running back trying to get the D to tip its hand quickly out to the tight end put it right on him sweet play good pick up and they'll move the chains with the first down new set of downs after that completion hand off from the gun stopped after a pick up of four good run to get it out to the 34 solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six wide receiver now comes in motion to the air it's gleon and he dropped it just didn't look the thing all the way in couldn't find his man last time and that leaves him with a third and six from the gun wants to pass can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard noosed pass defense and now it's Fourth Down fair catch called for and made the minute man going back to work on offense a quick strike touchdown up top the last time they had it Jesse they'd love to it again no doubt they've got so many Playmakers on the perimeter David just find a way to get these guys the ball in space and you already started man making that big play opening up this offense this quarterback is feeling good about himself I wouldn't be surprised if they give it right back to him trying play action R On Target this time and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pick up they've got it at the 37 it's first and 10 the give to the back and that's a very productive first down play in bringing up second and three from the shotgun the hand off to the back and he's almost to that first down marker there saying he's a little bit short they might want to bring out the sticks and measure but it looks as if he'll be just short of the first down brought to the ground but not before getting up for the first down I don't need it to be pretty I just need my inches third down and inches nice job by getting the first down always fall forward play physical don't get East and West stay north and south nice job by the running back this UMass offense is moving quickly down the field the run from the shotgun smashes through and it took the defense a bit to get a handle on him a little slippery with all those Juke moves this defense has got to get better tackling in the open field or gang tackling because if you need three or four guys to bring a guy down have fun with that they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three oh and they'll try to catch him with a pass good timing on the quick out finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down working that left side now you see it more and more smaller wide receivers I don't care about their size anymore I put them in the slot I let them get a good match up they're so quick people can't get their hands on them they make plays and I feed him the football these are guys that have a lot of catches throughout a season and guys how many first downs is that just on this drive alone I mean this defense allows one or two more drives like this and they're going to be gassed by the third quarter UMass getting set to snap it on First and 10 [Applause] they'll ride the running back and leave it with him and he could not get loose on the Run got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 on the run it's John this defense just can't get off the field the offense Unstoppable on Third and long he's going to have to throw for it On Target over the middle touchdown minute and they take it in for six more points this offense is really dangerous because of the weapons they have on the perimeter of the field and you're seeing they go to these guys early and they try to give them opportunities in one-on-one situations and vertically down the field two passing touchdowns now early for this offense lining up to tack one more onto that lead and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring drive and the Capper a 19 yd toss for the touchdown from inside the 10 here he comes he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic that they get him on the ground at the 20 guys let's see what Toledo can get done on offense this time out of the gun they'll run it inside not much there picks up a couple to the 22 picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down to the air it's gleon excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away a third and long coming up here from the gun wants to pass nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away the Rockets will line up to punt it away he'll try to really get into this one this is a spot you see many returners try to take a chance but not this time the fair catch just inside the 40 he wants to throw and he just flat dropped it I think wanted to run before he secured it couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again hand off to the lone back that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there they'll come to the line at the 42 facing a third and long he'll throw it and it's incomplete on third down UMass will line up to plant it away let's see if he can help the coverage with this one you'll call for the fair catch here too has the ball here comes the offense they've had to punt the last couple of times they've had it David now trying to put something together re you know how much I love punters and kickers like you don't want to see them very often those are not guys that we want to see on the field we want to do something else and be a little bit more productive offensively here I think David on this drive the quarterbacks just got to but these last few drives looks like he's seen ghost we've SE him Force the football he's missed a couple throws he needs to just take a deep breath and play Within himself so they're facing third and short from the 25 and the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down and the rockets send out the punt unit fourth time tonight we've seen this guy come on to punt and the punt team gets down there and gets the Return Man On The Ground guys this offense coming back out onto the field off play action on first down moving out of the pocket trying to escape and get it himself defense is all about creating negative plays and he does a really good job at the quarterback spot of not taking sacks like that's a great job he wants to throw the football the clock goes off off and gets a positive game they'll line up for a second down play going to run it it's John that play just never had a chance they knock him down for a loss of five two running backs alongside the quarterback on Third and long trying to have a big completion here UMass will line up to pun it away three and out and not much choice but to get rid of the ball no fair catches here looking room excellent coverage that time didn't give him any room to set up a big return he'll keep it himself they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they needed and he's out to the 43 kept it on the ground on first down let's see what they do on second it's loose oh looks as if the defense got it and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its own and he made the read off of the RPO and he decided to take off run the football but man you got to take care of that thing fumbles the football the defense gets the ball back the UMass offense returns to the field after a punt on their last possession they are set up in plus territory this time L it wouldn't have mattered if they scored a touchdown their last possession you've got to be able to turn the page and see this as a brand new opportunity to go get points yeah and your defense has set you up for a position to get points right away now let's get this offense back rolling again create some momentum just get a few first downs and I'm in scoring position they working that left side looks as if he has enough to move the chains it'll be a first down here's this offense with a fres set of downs hand off to the lone back just buried it good spot after that seveny pickup on first down it's second and [Applause] three from the gun the G looking for room finds just enough room to pick up a couple down to the 26 balls at the 26 it's third and short and they'd love to pick up the first down and avoid settling for the field goal and he needed one yard and didn't get it the defense won the battle up front here comes the field goal unit this might be a little easier if it were straight on but a 43 y from the right hatch it is perfect and that lead grows even bigger after putting up a three spot the kickoff unit set to go on the run from inside zone five and the Return Man reaches the end of the line and down he goes the Rockets offense is back on the field they coughed it up on that last drive but the defense really bailed him out holding him to a field goal Jesse yeah and I I think the offense kind of got away from their identity a little bit on that last Drive David they got to kind of get back to doing what they do yeah and hold on to the football I mean defense just did their job stopped him held him to a field goal limited the damage now it's time for the offense to get the momentum going again off the play fake on first down to throw got his Man Down field that defense got G they finally get him to the turf at the 47 it's amazing in college football the tight end position and how much has changed back in the day you're a blocking guy maybe you catch a flat route today these guys have athleticism and you just saw it from that dude after the catch on that last one the Rockets moving quickly to the line dropping back it's G and he had it for a second but it just dribbled out of his hands offense gets set for second down from the gun running back gets to give and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground they'll have to get it to the 37 on third down from the gun wants to pass he can't make the catch had it right in his hands and it'll be down and the rockets will try to pin them back with the punt they may have to pay him overtime he's punting for the fifth time today and the ball hits at the three and gets into the end zone it'll be a Touchback the minute man going back to work on offense looking for room it's John stopped at the 25 after a 5yd gain halfway there on first down it's second and five fires to the big fella they make the stop but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all [Applause] about so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty here comes the offense on second down off play action he lets one fly deep and it's incomplete going for the massive explosive play instead they're looking at a third down from the gun wants to pass all kinds of room to throw that one in there and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play man this quarterback is having a first half he's over 200 yards already heating up setting up this dude might break his career high in passing I don't know what it is somebody get stats for him and it was worth going for a chunk play but the long pass is incomplete couldn't make the connection on first down now here on second looking to throw it's puman he lets it flop and this is dropped oh my goodness it was just too easy and he didn't look it in he'll just keep slinging it fires to the tight end he gets it so so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short UMass will line up to PL it away he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's punted tonight and that one will Sail Out of Bounds no chance for a return there guys let's see what Toledo can get done on offense this time they'll start this drive with a pass oh he's going to take a shot at the DB makes the grab down the left side off he goes and away from the defense to take it in touchdown Rockets man that's a play this kid has been running ever since he was seven years old at the par with his best friend throwing him go routs right down the field I'm running by a guy I'm looking back locating the football making the catch and he does it in a big moment here in this game now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and it's up and good as they draw Just a Touch closer if only it were always this easy for the offensive coordinators One play big chunk yardage put points on the board just like that here he comes from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 the UMass offense returns to the field they'll put the tight end in motion looking for room it's John they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 he's looking to throw unloads to the wide out wide open downfield that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the Stop and this defense is going to have their hands full because they're going to need to be comfortable with guys one-on-one on islands in the perimeter of the field and they're just going to have to make better plays than what we saw right there they knew this offense was going to try to be aggressive got to need better effort in the back end for this defense moving forward [Applause] from the gun they'll try to impose their will couldn't ask for much more there a first down and they're down to the 42 quickly back to the line the back goes in motion looking to go up top on first down Lofts one high and deep and this is dropped incomplete pass he had a huge gain in his fingers and he couldn't hold on [Applause] one running back in the back field and he has it they finally get him on the ground with the big running play moves to change for the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs oh he drops the football he had him right down the gut of the field instead it'll be second down the give to the tail back they get him stopped at the 26 but not before he picks up five yards third and short from the 26 pretty easy field goal range but they'd love to pick up the first oh he just flat dropped it he had the ball and didn't look it all the way in and it'll be fourth down it is true as he puts three on the board we've reached a two-minute warning and we'll see if the offense can build on this lead for the break on the move from inside is five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 too has the ball here comes the offense they torched this defense with an explosive passing play for a score last time out let's see if they go right back at him find space on the right and he was loosing in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one big play to start this drive and they're already out at the 48 it's first down back to throw it's gleon finds the tight end how about this backer in pass coverage and bringing the big hit stick with him too is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half on second down he'll let it fly going to try to pop one on the screen makes the grab and it's enough for the first down before he's dragged to the ground the Rockets come to the line with a new set of downs wants to throw on first down quick completion on the out rout one of the most difficult things about this slot receiver is his shiftiness and his athleticism very very difficult to tackle after the catch pocket starts to collapse and he drops it just took his eye off of it at the last minute Ball's at the 27 it's third and short can they avoid making that fourth down decision got his man down the middle and the catch was one thing and the Run even better a big pick up on that one they've moved it into scoring territory first and 10 from the 11 un to the end zone and good coverage there to knock it away and deny the score operating in the Red Zone here on second down he's looking to throw he's got it on the run and that defense is there to guide him out of bounds after a short gain the terrain gets rough this deep in the Red Zone third down they can pick up the first without scoring it's complete good tackle there to stop him short first down it'll bring up a big decision timeout is called and it's the defense wanting to make sure that everyone's on the same page for this big down between the uprights it's good [Music] so they get the field goal now about to kick it away and you get a stop here and you go to halftime feeling really good about things he'll start the return inside his five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the minute man going back to work on offense they've got some time to work with here Jesse and if they get a first down they might really get aggressive I'd be aggressive right out of the gate I'd be throwing for a first down if I get it then it's pedal to theal I'm in that two minute mode to try to score a touchdown or get a field goal but I do think this is a situation where you also have to understand that I have the lead going into the half I've got the momentum so don't do anything stupid here slam to the ground but not before he gets the first down we've played two quarters genius to figure out these two passing attacks have run circles around these defenses man or Zone nothing seems to be working and I'm not sure that defensive coordinator is going to be able to figure things out here at halftime and with that let's send it back to the guys inside the glass bow looks as if we're set to crank it up here in the second half and here's the return He got great speed he just about po that one for a long one but as it is he gives his team a lot of momentum with a solid return they'll run the RPO and Fire to the right and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pick up now on second down the give from the gun and he's able to shed one tackle but still just a very short gain after the last run would you just give it to him again on third down they'll try to bully their way for the first they get him on the ground but it's a first down it'll be a first down from the 49 yd line they'll go to the ground and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up tried to pound it on first down now back to the line looking for a man it's kumachan he just missed the Target on that one got to put it on his body after the second down misfire looking at a third and eight from the gun wants to pass he's got an open man they've got it inside the 30 they'll mark it at the 28 it's first down this defense is moving quickly down the field going up top on first down and he dropped it it looked for all the world like that would be a catch and he just got too excited let's see if they go back to the air on second and 10 from the 28 he'll pull it on the read he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple third and long from the 30 yd line in this defense hoping to knock them out of field goal range got it set up on the outside didn't have much room to run and not a whole lot of help short gain there and still plenty of ground to cover for the first down so this field goal unit has been getting the job done they've already made a couple here today and it's right down the boulevard they were able to get a field goal on the board and now they'll kick it away from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the 26 sags it quickly on the left and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that and the Rockets head it quickly to the line from the gun they'll try to impose their running game slips a tackle and he's got room oh look out defense caught out of position and they get him down finally at the 38 what a run man I tell you what it's hard to pop runs it's hard to get three four five six yards a lot of times but when you got backs like this who can make huge plays with the speed getting out in the open field can take at the distance on every play defenses are scared out of their mind you can feel the momentum starting to swing in this Stadium it's first and 10 looking to move it through the air TI ball put it up for grabs and I thought he had it but somehow it slithered through his fingers after the quarterback and receiver failed to hook up they'll try it again on second down got it behind the line it's Newton great play by the cornerback he was just way too physical at the point of attack he beat his man trying to block him and he tackled that receiver on the screen throws toward the end zone and swatted down by the defense to stop the scoring opportunity so here comes the field goal unit once again they've already kicked three tonight oh and he missed it no good and they couldn't cut into the lead it's still a seveno game the UMass offense returns to the field he couldn't connect on that 54 yd field goal attempt and now they'll have it first and 10 from the 37 after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven pulls it and fires to the left good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the [Applause] catch unloads quickly didn't pick up a lot there moved it Forward just a few picked up some yardage on the ground now here comes second down looking to throw It's pachan Quickly to the tight end he's there to make the stop but the damage has been done as they pick up the first down on the throwing catch out of the gun the running back has it after got some room headed to the goal line touchdown and they add more to the board with that trip to the house anytime you've got a successful Run play on the ground you've got to have great blocking up front the offensive line receivers everybody doing their job and that helped lead to the Home Run they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 a very efficient five play scoring drive and he put an exclamation point on that drive with the 29 yd touchdown he'll bring it back from inside his SP and returner will be dragged down the Rockets offense is back on the field now we'll get a chance to see if they can answer that last score trailing by 14 Jesse Yeah and at this point of the game I feel like offensively you should go back to what's been working for you in this game don't be afraid to dial up plays that you've already had success with running it and throwing it it's okay to repeat plays down 14 at this point and I would also say Palmer kind of understanding that my defense is not playing great so I know offensively I got to put some good possessions together here make something happen on this side of the football third and long and he'll try to throw for it fires to the wide out and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up the Rockets will send out the punt unit and these guys have been busy sixth punt of the day hand goes into the air for the fair Catch and the catch is made around the 40 looking for a productive play on first down he wants to start this drive with a pass and he drops it just a little too slippery in the hands no gain on first down after the incompletion now second and 10 from the 40 takes a hand off it's John turns it on Midfield can anyone catch him they've got the defense reeling right now that big play to the 29 defensively you'll take the slow death you'll take three four five yards a pop but you can't give up the massive plays you got to do a better job containing the football making them run the guys and get him on the ground for goodness sakes this guy is fast I know but defensively we got to swarm to the football and get him on the ground they're going to go right back to him on first down and the defense holds firm no pick up at all on that play leaves it with the back and he's able to find a little bit of Running Room before they get him down already in Chip Shot field goal range at the 21 but this third and short they're still thinking touchdown he'll be stopped short picks up one but they're facing fourth and one this kicker's leg is getting a workout he's already made fi go go and here he comes again HEI goal is good and now the leads extended a little far he keep pushing that lead out and the kickoff team's getting some work looking for an alley from inside his own 10 and the coverage team gets the returner on the ground guys let's see what too can get done on offense this time after giving up that score now it's incumbent on this offense to kind of get a back and forth going Jesse in this game they got to put some points on the board here there's obviously a lot of football to go so it's not necessarily Panic time just yet but I'm getting the ball into the hands of my best Playmakers on this drive I hear you Jesse but not panic time have you seen my defense I mean I'm not trusting them to get a lot of STS so he puts a lot of pressure on this offense he make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down goes to the option oh there's a loose football on the bad pitch he's got the ball and he'll try to pick up a few and this offense just has to find a way to convert this third down or else they are really in trouble coming after him oh it's out and the defense has it they're going the other way these wide receivers are so fast nowadays they're such big Playmakers I just want to get it to them and let him make it happen but a lot of times we're running to him too we're focused on chasing him down and funneling the football ball in the right direction defense swarm did a good job getting their hand on the football causing the fumble from the wide receiver the minute man going back to work on offense comes out throwing on first down it's caught and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they'll move the running back to try to force the defense to ad looking to buy time trying to make magic on the scramble on the run and he'll slide to avoid the hit a Nifty pick up there let's see what they've got on second [Applause] down the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D looking for space it's John and this one will be stopped for No Gain already in Chip Shot field goal range at the 21 but this third and short they're still thinking touchdown gives it to the back on the draw they get him on the ground after he gets enough to move the sticks this UMass offense is moving quickly down the field they'll run it it's John he get him on the ground he picked up about four yard and the ball spotted at the 10 going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone the RPO complete they make the stop at the two but he's got enough to give them a first and goal on the doorstep of cashing it in for the offense they'll keep it on the ground for first and goal touchdown and the route is on another rushing touchdown that's now two on the game this offense thought they could come into this one running the ball being the more team and they look like it right now lining up for the p and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead so that drive covered 40 yards and finished to deal with the short touchdown run from the two and he takes this from inside the five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 too has the ball here comes the offense that last fumble proved to be costly as they cashed it in for a touchdown yeah and so this defense now is Juiced they're excited and ready to go so this offense David they've got to get something going yeah those turnovers can be contagious man it gets you excited and then when your offense takes it down the field does something with it this offense better be ready to play against a motivated defense they'll snap this one from the 32 it's first down he'll do it himself finding a way to put that foot in the ground and get it up to the 37 yd line went to the running game on first down now second down they'll run it to the right he's knocked down the Back Field he'll lose a couple they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one trying to move the sticks on third down through the air he'll take a deep shot here and they can't hook up on the big play and that brings up a fourth down and the rockets will bring the punt team onto the field they'll hook to P him deep cover guys do their job and they get him stopped at the 22 yd line the UMass offense returns to the field what a good mix of plays keeping that defense off balance last time David and Reese they don't know if it's run or if it's pass they got him right where they wanted this defense doesn't know how to react from getting punched in the mouth on that last drive so in this next Drive David I think you keep running the football because that sets up the play action it sets up the RPO game and then you keep this defense guessing and he's brought to the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down I tell you what with this kind of success on the ground I I think you two Knuckleheads could call play I mean that's how easy it is for this offense right now they got the ground game working it's really easy now you can open up for other things but you guys could even try your hand because they're dominating right now got him down field and he was loose and not stopped until he gets to the 47 Y Line UMass getting set to snap it on First and 10 here's the hand off really nice stop there from this senior leader got three on first down it's second and [Applause] seven using his legs it's John and the defense makes the stop after a minimal gain they'll have to get it to the 37 on third down from the gun wants to pass and they won't make the connection looking to make a big play there UMass will line up to punt it away they've been busy out there to punt for the fifth time today he'll get away another punt he's been really active today and no doubt he's going to earn his varsity L the Rockets offense is back on the field trying to start the drive with a pass C in the back field it's Stevens and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few right on target with that last pass now it's second and medium from the gun give on the inside works his way ahead for three out to the 14 if every Journey begins with a step this offense needs to step into a third down conversion and then try to turn it into some scores and fast throws to the wide out couldn't quite haul it in they almost had their first pick here late in the game the Rockets will it away on fourth down he's going to try to flip the field with this one makes a move and the returner could find no daylight he goes down okay so here comes the offense returning to the [Applause] field they go to the ground they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 might as well stick with him a solid pick up there before the defense is able to make the stop now facing a third and long from the 50 yd line looking down field it's puman unloads to the Wi out he makes a catch you want to talk about Shifting the field in an instant he's got it all the way down to the 10 yd line what a beautiful throw and catch on this play and I love the job the receiver did track the ball in the air nice job of locating the throw and then hauling it in so after the huge chunk play they've got it first and goal from the 10 he got it oh he thought he had a chance to house him and the defense tackles him at the three going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down he's got it down to the one yd line right on the doorstep of per boy they love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on first and goal it'll be a run on Third and short touchdown minute and The Stomping has commenced I mean the way this team has dominated this game impressive to say the least and it's cool now because you're kicking the credit of them so bad you start to put the backups in them get to get juice and get to get some playing time get some feel good the other side well they're just taking that right to the face they'll try to tack one more on their score the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown on the run from inside his own five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 guys let's see what Toledo can get done on offense this time from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back and they try to run inside and there is nowhere to go they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 to throw it's gleon fires one high and deep and the in complete pass taking a shot on second down and they'll be left with a third down from the gun wants to pass grabbed in the middle it's Torres building momentum picking up a chunk of yard moving the chains out to the4 Quick touch pass to the receiver is stopped behind the line of scrimmage they'll lose yards on that one lost one on that last one it's second and 11 caught in the back field it's Newton I love offenses in quarterbacks that are willing to take the easy stuff take those easy throws that are guaranteed to get positive yards yeah I'm going to take big shots down the field too but don't forget it's easier to pick up second and five third makes the grab the 30 touchdown too and once he found daylight it was Katie Bar the Door baby this guy is officially a problem his second receiving touchdown of the game nice job by the offense dude if I've got a match up I like continue to pick at it until they stop it [Music] getting set for the point after splits those uprights right in half so that scoring Drive took only six plays and they finished with a 62 yd pass for the score lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive fielded In The End Zone it's Simpson gets it across the 20 to the 21 and not quite what he would have picked up just taking the back the minute man going back to work on offense off the play fake on first down wants to throw a strike down field and they were looking for a chunk play and they got it the explosive picks up more than 30 he's just winning that match up in the slot every time and when you put him in the slot Reese he's closer to the quarterback it's an easier throw we can run in we can run out and really take advantage of his versatility of the guy that slot position whole situation changed after that last big play now it's first and 10 from the 39 give to the running back that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there after picking up a couple it's second and eight back to throw it's puman just a short pass to the tight end and that is good versatility there and a big hit from the backer in pass coverage on third down he drops to throw he's got his man brought down just outside the Red Zone he moves the chains it's at the 22 off the play fake on first down to throw and the quarterback was trying to extend the play and the defense brought it to a close [Applause] and you want to talk about his favorite receiver it might be everybody based on the number of guys getting touches in a chance to show off their hands in the passing game as we start the fourth quarter it'll take a pretty size and will come back to win this one that's the last thing you want as an offense a negative play a sack on first down dropped after a pick up of three down to the 26 they're close enough for a makeable field goal from the 26 but they'd love to convert this third and long they run the reverse and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down they'll play it safe and send out the field goal unit visualizing the right ball flight from 39 yards out in the right hatch kick is good the offense has three points to show for the drive and now the lead is even bigger that lead just keeps getting fatter in this kickoff team doing a little running here he comes from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 too has the ball here comes the offense he's looking to throw it tight end nice quick throw there and it's so important for quarterbacks to be able to find the Rhythm and to be comfortable and confident you want to just get the ball out quickly make it an accurate and easy throw and you could tell that these two guys they rep that play in practice all the time and it's now showing up here on and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up they'll throw it on first down grab near the sticks it's Stevens there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down QBs when you see Zone coverage man can you manipulate defense when you have a good pocket and you've got time to throw you had a little bit of time to throw you can move guys with your eyes that drag comes wide open good throw good catch first down they want to just keep throwing it and it just squirted through his hands he wanted to take off and got too anxious the incomplete pass leaves him with second down wants to throw it's gleon fires to the middle got his Man Down field and he mot into the end zone touchdown Rockets nice pitch nice catch and listen maybe this helps next game right like we're trying to find a rhythm find something that works find somebody to go to and this offense is struggling you're down by a thousand but I like they to fight un on the field splits the uprights a very efficient five play scoring drive and they finish things off with a scoring toss from the 33 about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown on the move from inside is five not a lot of found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 the UMass offense returns to the field they go to the counter running hard and getting six yds out to the 26 6yd pick up on first down leaves him with second and four they'll give it to the back and they Tred the middle of this defense and that is not happening now looking for that first down on Third and short from the 26 fires to the wide out all kinds of room to throw that one in there he's got enough to move the chains and they'll spot it at the 47 well I love play calls that want to stay aggressive regardless of what the score is regardless of how much time is left on the clock and I promise you this there are a lot of fans there are a lot of teams all across college football that are paying attention to what is happening right now UMass getting set to snap it first and 10 from the gun they'll give it on the inside nice solid form tackle from this sophomore picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down looking for a gap it's John and just wedges it ahead a bit before he's brought down offense breaks the Huddle on third down power football with the Run and he found plenty of Running Room on that one before the defense was finally able to get him down been showing them the run now they'll throw it got his man quickly and he'll be run out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage not a very productive play there they're going to run it NOS is ahead to the 30 yd line a pick up of one third down been right in the Wheelhouse on this drive they've already converted a couple of times but they need the full 10 yards now and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker and on fourth down here comes the field goal unit and he's got to find the right combination of distance and accuracy from the right hash and 45 yd out good right down the Boulevard and they'll push that lead out a little further they're really starting to extend that lead as they get ready to kick it away again here's the return from inside is 10 nice job executing of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 the Rockets offense is back on the field back to pass it's gleon got the back over the middle they'll wrestle him down just short of the first down I don't even think they're going to bring out the change to measure this one and the entire Playbook is wide open on second and short like this catch in the middle it's Torres tackled but he has a first down this Junior loves to show off that big arm he's going to pass they're bringing Heat and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes and listen the quarterback drops back and he's going through his progressions we see Zone but just couldn't do anything about it this defensive line this pressure getting to the quarterback getting him on the ground a big play for the defense with a first down sack now Advantage d as the offense comes up on second down setting up the screen they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down third and long from the 42 if they can get some of it it might give them a chance to go for it on fourth down caught near the sticks it's Newton that'll be enough for the first down and they'll mark it at the and the rockets are moving quickly down the field to the air on first down the quick out just what they were looking for and he's got him set up in business at the 35 with a first down I really like this slot receiver because of his shiftiness and you see that on his route run really really nice job creating separation for his QB they're down to the 35 on First and 10 used the play fake now to throw unloads to the Wi out he's got it and he makes a completion there set up and in business at the 20 the Rockets have moved it inside the 20 trying to get to it Rush coming in hot and they got him at the 29 what a nice answer by this defense you give up the big play you respond right back you get the sack create some momentum for your side nice job by this defense staying with it they've got some serious work to do to keep that last one from messing up this drive second and 19 to the ground with the back and they'll stop him after a minimal pickup ninth play of the drive coming up but this one will be tough third and long looking to move the chains they throw it complete to the left and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop on fourth down they'll pass for it going for it all and it's knocked away they'll give up the ball failing to convert on Fourth on first down here comes this offense the give to the back banging slithering whatever it takes to get that ball up to the 32 they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three they'll go right back to him got behind those pads and picked up three out to the 35 these are the types of plays where offenses impose their will third and short from the 45 Quick Pass to the left trying to get it to the marker and he gets it to the 45 yd line and that'll be a first down here this offense with a fresh set of downs they'll try the Run able to pick his way forward for a decent game before the defense gets him down got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four trying to impose their will with the rot really putting together a threat now they get the first it's at the 37 here's this offense with a fresh set of downs trying to move them on the counter B that crease and they knock him down after a pick up of five to the 32 all right they've shown this formation a lot of times especially in the first half now what do they do they show the formation pull some guys and run a counter backside beautiful play design way to adjust in the second half halfway there on first down it's second and five they'll keep it on the ground they want clock to move defense there to stop him after a gain of three but he is inside the 30 to the 29 they're going to try to throw for it on third down quickly complete really confident throw and catch there big pick up and they have a first down eighth play of the drive coming up leaves it with the running back works his way down to the 10 yd line after a pick up of three operating in the Red Zone here on second [Applause] down leaves it with the back they'll get him stop just of the end zone but they're in here with a first down new seter Downs right on the doorstep for this offense trying to punch it in touch Minute Man and the beat down has ensued lining up to tack one more onto that lead and with the extra point they push the lead out a little further about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown from inside the 10yd line he'll bring it back he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 guys let's see what Toledo can get done on offense this time coming out on first down with the play fate this one has pretty much been a bludgeoning but they'll try to finish with something positive late well they ran into a buzz saw today and I don't think it would matter what type of exes and know's they're out there executing David jimmies and the Joe's they just they're just not as good as the opponent today and as an athlete it sometimes hit you in the face and it stinks but you're not good enough and today they were not good enough and I'm going to do the best I can to try to flush this down the toilet not remember it forget it move on for the next game maybe something right here I can create positive that carries over practice and maybe next week and they'll do more than move the chains they'll move that thing more than 30 yard down the field before he's finally stopped let's go we got some life we we made a big play something to build off of we need a lot of points and we need him quickly time's running out we're trailing big in this ball game and the rockets getting set on First and 10 he wants to throw they've avoided the interception all day but they're lucky to get that one back here late it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again back to the air one more time finds a soft spot in the middle they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first down the Rockets have pushed it inside the 20 he's got it on the Move I'm sorry you're unlikely to win today but here's fabulous farting a late touchdown he has been surgical Precision passes using the scaff the fine instrument rather than the blunt one the defense has had absolutely no answer for just he's been down their throats all game long a step ahead understanding what he's seeing and just destroying this defense ready to try the point after right down the middle so that scoring Drive took only six plays at this point a comeback would take one of the biggest miracles in the history of the sport but they'll line up for the onside kick cool as a cucumber as the hands team makes a sure catch yeah and this is why you put your hands team on the field most of the time when you know it's coming and you put those guys that are great catchers of the football the first guys what do they do they go block they blow somebody up the next guys catch the football secure it get your butt on the ground and most of the time when you do this the ball game is over didn't get much on first down it's second and nine they'll leave it with him they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one line is set on third down for for for
