Czech Republic the 15th of September 202 the highest flood alert have been declared in  38 different locations in Prague flood barriers   have been raised embankments have been closed to  the public and the zoo has been closed on Friday   morning A 1 ler thick steel gate was used to  close off the SoCal Devil's Canal or satova   which runs through the city the gate is part of  a nationwide work of flood defenses and stalls   to prevent a repeat of catastrophic damage caused  by flooding in 1997 and 2002 attention is focused   this weekend on Central and Eastern parts of  the country especially North Moravia where   50 people lost their lives in 1997 the Jessi  mountains could receive some 400 MM over the   next 3 days and that water will then Cascade  down the river Oda a in check and on towards   Poland passing a number number of towns and  villages on the way we are in communication   with the integrated rescue system and Regional  and municipal fire brigades and coordinate   with other humanitarian organizations we will  adapt our support to the needs of the current   situation we have many years of experience  with flood programs in 1997 2002 2006 2010   and 2013 as well as with operations after  the devastating tornado in maravia in 2012   21 in natural disasters usually in the first  weeks we provide urgent material assistance to   affected households in coordination with  municipalities and crisis teams when the   water aceds we map the needs in the affected  regions visit individual households and focus   on helping particularly vulnerable groups such as  people without relatives without savings seniors   or single parents we provide affected people  with psychosocial report and advise them on   handling the necessary Administration and home  repairs we operate on site even years after the   disaster until the residents of the flooded  areas return to normal life in the long term
