the countdown to football begins this uh is it Saturday or Sunday it's one of those days I believe it's your boys gonna be watching football and I I couldn't be more excited I think practice was canceled for the same reason right Debbie um out here causing Ruckus so she she might be causing Ruckus for the show as well yes that is true yeah the practice for tomorrow for the New York Jets uh will be postponed it was supposed to be a public practice uh tomorrow that one will be postponed until the end of the month so the Jets will still be able uh to get that on for those people that had one of those tickets I believe they will honor those for the latest but yes this Jets commanders game is coming up on Saturday at noon that'll be on NFL plus so make sure you guys time up your uh your mean it went down right every position here's how they're feeling right now um I would say couple couple surprises boy green quite a few and I guess let's uh jump right into it and uh we'll go through crazy but it's something that caught my eye Isaiah Davis is the second leading returner at both kick return and punt return for the New York Jets X Xavier Gibson by the way shout out welcome back uh to practice today he was back in uh pads and working around with the team it was great to see he had' been missing the last week and a half and change I spoke to Nick Faria who joined me tomorrow morning on boy Green Daily he also joins my radio show uh every Tuesday at 10:30 and that's up on the podcast um and Nick said that it was phenomenal news that Xavier Gibson was back he's the starting slot receiver and top Return Man for both kick and pun but you have two returners back there so that means Isaiah Davis currently right now and we'll see what happens for the preseason game is going to be on the field he's going to be one of the two return men I'm going to be honest he's been kind of going under the radar people haven't been talking a lot about him but he's one of the top return men and with X having been out the last week that means Isaiah Davis was the top Return Man which is an important role on this team so a guy that's got under the radar because of some other guys that I'm sure maybe we'll get to later on the list but Isaiah Davis certainly deserves him love yeah definitely super interesting you know I I uh I I got to apologize to him because when he was drafted I was out here throwing both arms up what what are we doing you know but but it's nothing uh personal against him whatsoever uh so to see him carving out a a role a niche role that we're about to see on display on Saturday is is a is a nice uh nice pickup for sure uh it's time to start that Woody list let's go number five I uh I've been saying this pretty consistently the whole time that I wanted the offensive line to be two injuries away from getting Carter Warren on the field right I thought Olu was the swing tackle they said no stay on the left stay on the left you know Carter you got that right and I was like Ah that's not really what I what I was talking about but now un official dep chart Max Mitchell come on down are two injuries away from Carter Warren getting out there um we had Joe bitt the film junkie on the show and he was talking about Carter Warren just getting pushed just just getting abused pushed bullied just abused on the field he didn't want Carter out there I don't want Carter out there and now it seems like Nathaniel Hackett and and the powers that be may not want Carter out there which is you know a bad look for Damen Woody you not saying I know more than him but you know I knew this and he didn't but you know this is a big um move as we look at interior you know the uh offensive line and depth and all that because we've had injuries so we got to know who are the guys behind our guys yeah it's a great call out and speaking of this you know potential fistic cuffs and Joint practices and things that nature over Jamie D Woody and Joe BL it aren't throwing fist to cuffs that that'd be a a battle I'd lean my money towards Damen Woody in that fight physically speaking no offense to Old Joe bitt there but I might lean on the Damien Woody side but I would say it is nice to have this depth which again kind of leads into what happened at the back end of last year where so many guys got a lot of reps and those are now our second unit which is something Aaron Rogers prided himself uh coming off of a couple of press conference here over the last couple weeks let's go next here number four now this I will be honest isn't a surprise what I'm about to say it just feels good to read it uh it is the new look offensive line starters of Tyron Smith of Elijah ver Tucker and Morgan Moses again it's been more apparent to me because I'm playing the old edition of Madden right now and because the new one doesn't come out for a week in change that I am staring every time I play as the Jets and that's 9 9% of the time as the old Jets offensive line of Dwayne Brown's old ass of maai Beck's throwing up ass of all these other players that are lined up in there we're having Conor McGovern uh on the line hey hey hey hey hey hey don't say it like that don't say hey hey he was a start when the Jets had the 11th ranked offensive line he was starting center man he he can play I'm I'm just saying and what was that 1984 the fact of the matter is is that Conor mcover we're talking about the greatness was not happening at last season it just is what it is and the fact of the matter is it just feels great to see it on the dep chart again it's not a surprise I was hoping we'd see what we saw and it is the three new starters on the offensive line it's ABT being back healthy it's these guys having already this week over the last seven days having practiced as a team for the first time in team drills and they had been getting the mental and communication reps in walk throughs but it was great to see that checked off the bucket list and again those three that I mentioned or several of them are on Pitch counts obviously abt's on a pitch count Tyron Smith's on a pitch count Morgan Moses is on a pitch count so several of them are so we're not always going to see them together but the fact that we already have and there is a plan for them to continue to see each other I just think that's something we just can't Overlook and just accept as uh oh of course it is it had to be highlighted on this list that's just how important it is uh to everything the New York Jets are going to do this season I I love that line we've talked about it almost at nauseum of how much that line is going to make things different for Aaron for Bree for Garrett brilin too you know now um it opens up the whole Playbook which you know now Nathaniel hacket can turn to page two you know we'll see what's on that page uh that's a huge huge win huge plus uh my number four number four also not a surprise we we knew it we knew it um unfortunately this does not make me happy the way that yours made you and me everybody happy yours was great news mine most people don't care about but I'm a little sad about you know I feel like uh whenever the Jets draft a player I root for them right I I wish them the best yeah um you know until I see something like oh you know he kicked a baby or you know he's not hustling or you know he's doing something crazy like he has my support he has he has my support so let me get this straight in the same line of kicking a baby or not showing hustle in practice or in the same grouping of like I might look at this guy a little differently good Lord that was that was the Spectrum like that was from traa it wasn't it wasn't an end of a statement it was it was a run-on sentence so all that was you didn't you just didn't hear the hyphen that's what I'm saying yes appr I'm so sorry for interrupting um you know that's that's that Spectrum where I'm where I can start you know dogging on somebody okay um I didn't see any of that from Izzy aananda but apparently they' seen something that they did not like so they drafted not one but two two running backs in this most recent draft they signed Tariq Cohen who was doing a a fantastic job uh up until his sudden retirement and you know this unofficial depth chart you know confirm the notion running back four what it also did almost doubl down because some of us were thinking like oh maybe you know kick return work pass return work no no NADA running back four nothing more maybe he'll be shown the door oh hey now yeah not not you would think that the Tariq new which again we don't want to keep beating because it is what it is he's gone and although uh he did post on Instagram so the first thing he said was on Twitter it was just the Dwight Sho GIF of yes I'm I'm gone no words no caption as soon as the too and news broke and then he went to his Instagram story and said uh cover your ears kids uh [ __ ] football with a with a video of his kid on a swing I would assume it's his child on a swing and he had [ __ ] football hard Emoji laughing crying Emoji so it seems like priorities were realigned for Tariq Cohen as he decided to walk away from the game I just went ah okay so uh Tariq Cohen has donezo which you would have thought by virtue would be great news for Izzy like okay phenomenal there's one piece off the board I'm no longer competing with and the Jets like added other pieces not like they didn't turn around and sign some big veteran name running back they just they kind of kept operating and added pieces to the rest team again you would think in theory uh that that would be uh good but interesting interesting so is he y but I will stay in the running back room here number three now I'm not normally an advocate for people coming up with their own nicknames I'm normally not but like you see my boy green right and sometimes every once in a while we get a lot of new fans we got 200 people in the room right now and I understand that like there are some people on the planet that may not know who I am they see Paul boy green they have no they're just there go oh interesting okay like I did not come up with a boy green thing it it was bestowed upon me in this very Studio that I'm in right now about 10 years ago I was sitting on the other side of this camera over there as an intern and I was bestowed the boy green nickname and I'm like good boy I'm gonna have this for the rest of my life and fast forward 10 years later and there's this Hollywood sign on the top of our video here boy green meet Woody gold shinewing you know so I I guess all things come full circle so again I'm not normally a fan because the rules are you have to be bestowed your nickname and you deal with it however Bree Hall said today we give you some live topical coverage here that they have come up with a nickname for Breece Hall and the rb2 on The Unofficial depth chart and that nickname is the Killer Bees and the bees being Bree Hall and brilin Allen baby are your running backs again not a surprise brilin had basically been operating his rb2 since the moment he was drafted and he's continued to look good the physique looks spectacular his running has looked great the catching the ball to the back field has been a wonderful pleasant surprise only had 49 catches during his career at Wisconsin and then and even on a whole 49 doesn't sound like a lot and then he spread that over the years that he was there in college and it wasn't like one season with 49 catches like it was just kind of spread throughout so something we did not or were unaware of was part of his game boy it's never going to be at least in my opinion a 50 splitter anything close of that nature to Breeze Hall but boy there are going to be times and opportunities and segments of games where there is a spell and that spell will be filled by brayan Allen the Killer Bees you have Bree Hall speaking of bees beating the defense over the head with a rock and then after he like gets a takes a water takes a lap brilin now and the Young Buck who's the youngest player in the entire National Football League will get some of those carries and the will have no problem attempting to run him into the ground and closing out gam I think br's going to have a huge role in this team not a surprise but he is rb2 on The Unofficial depth chart yeah I I Gotta Love It the Killer be's name I saw that before the show and I was like ah you know I can't wait for that t-shirt or you know somebody somebody's about to produce something uh with that name because a fire name Bree and brilin um I I think the way football is now you really benefit from having that onew punch of course you know Christian McCaffrey's exist where you know he's pretty much doing the line share and I do think gree is a Christian mcaffrey type um but just having the uh peace of mind that if he needs a breather or anything happens whatsoever brayan's there um a big physical back like you said I think that's huge I think that's huge um a young in right doesn't have a lot of tread on the tires that was the thing about Bree I mean he he had the most tread on his tires in college you know the highest usage in college and then we saw what happened when they started using him similarly similarly in uh his rookie year um we hope that's all you know squared away now but if they are trying to temper his touches this is a way to do it by having brillin who can catch who can break tackles I mean the Killer Bees buzz buzz baby yeah very much so all right you ready for number three Woody yes hit me with it number three you just had a tandem allow me to take your tandem I I I can't say I'm G raise the tandem because Bree Bree is a superstar so I don't know I'm raising it but you know another tandem because my boy somebody who I've hiked every time I've been on this show that he came up I've always showed him love because he's been showing my team love for as long as he's been alive give me Jeremy Rucker not on the bench not on the bench my man co co starting what co co start I mean hey there's te and then there's Jeremy rucket right next to his right next to those letters t come on holl at your boy not not behind not behind Tyler Conlin working in conjunction in conjunction Junction what's your function he'll be blocking he'll be catching he'll be doing all of the above Jeremy Rucker I'm excited to see what he does this season and it looks like the coaches the coaches are a little excited as well there's there's nothing wrong with being excited about this kid getting an opportunity because CJ uzama didn't deserve any opportunity he he he is gone and now Rucker is taking those snaps I think that is a reason to Rejoice I just want to make sure I read this I I have the unofficial dep chart in front of me that includes a nice little bio before you read it and uh it says that the offensive units are represented with 12 players and and 11 players they're they're showing you both Personnel packages that are possible which is why Rucker is listed as a starter but that's F I don't want to try to steal the Thunder even though it's exactly what I just tried to do but uh yeah uh let's see what Rucker can do on the field again I believe he should be the Frontline guy to get fullback reps they didn't list a fullback on the depth chart because there isn't one on the team but I'll be curious how do they utilize him and again I still got to see I got to catch up on Origins I've not seen the Germany record Origins episode yet but I've heard wonderful things so uh I'm looking forward uh to jumping on that uh let's go to the next uh number on the list number two I'm going to be this is this person on the depth chart again is probably not surprising that they are where they are but man the more that I hear this week I think this player may be held in higher regard than any of us gave credit for jam and Sherwood is technically a starter but the Jets don't play I I won't I won't spit that about the 43 and the this and the he's not going to because they mostly 99% of the time are playing nickel which means Michael Carter the second's on the field not a third linebacker but Robert Salah CJ Mosley Quincy Williams Jeff fber everyone continues to sing the praise of Jamie and Sherwood and Robert Salah in particular yesterday was pounding his chest and taking great pride in the development that they have uh that has taken place with jamen as a former safety that they've converted to linebacker and they've nurtured tender love and care time after time to try to convert him to work on the mental to work on the physical of course because the body physical transformation is necessary to make that positional switch and and sprinkle in a torn Achilles for Jamon Sherwood in the middle of all of this that he had to deal with in his past here in the NFL boy I just think jamen Sherwood I think a lot of us might have thought he was a a relative roster locked but he is a [ __ ] roster locked from everything that we hear I mean like it's not close like he will probably not be in the breeze Hall category right like we it could be uh you know um Jason pinets kind we're like what you know like it's it's surprising but not like oh Jee good Lord that is the worst decision they could have made like it's not quite there but damn they feel way better about Jamon Sherwood than I would ever thought and uh this probably speaks to why despite fans and noise on the outside hey we probably need some more linebacker to that we probably need some more line like Quan Alexander those Jet fan bastards are probably still out there somewhere like they are in love with jamen Sherwood and they believe if either guy in front of him that is CJ Mosley or Quincy was to miss time they feel like they'd be just Dy with jam and shwood and that to me is just a perfect opportunity we seeing him on the depth chart where he is and us doing this top five seems like a perfect opportunity to shine a spotlight on Jamon Sherwood who again feels much more of a roster lock in much higher regard than any of us could have possibly uh thought yeah um I really like that I really like that Spotlight um Salah has always said positive things about him from day one literally you know all the way back when he was drafted and his story which you you know put so brilliantly kind of lend to that where they drafted the player they drafted jamen and they said let's find the best fit for you I know you know you played Safety but we're we're just gonna take your skill set and mold you into a you know functioning piece of this defense and that's what they did they turned him into a linebacker those type situations if you recall that happened to Michael Carter II and look where he is today you know those type of uh um you know stories in solid's regime have all turned out well right so um that's where we said when we say hey we trust this defensive coaching staff you know trust what they're doing what they're thinking that's where the trust comes from last year for the draft I wanted the Jets to draft Drew Sanders yes linebacker who ended up going to the Detroit Lions they got a you know a nice defense over there um but that was before I seen all proo Quincy that was before um I realized the faith that they had in Sherwood yeah just a quick update I thought so but I want to double check Drew Sanders is a member of the Denver Broncos not the Detroit Lions so oh well then I might I might have messed up the uh oh okay okay that might that might make sense actually that might make sense on the Broncos but I'm like let me double check and I want to just assume and assume Woody is hey hey that's how we end up Hey Nobody's an now that you know and it's not about titman you know in the snaps you know Salah is not worried about titman all right I don't really trust his offensive judgment like that but you know Salah is my tippman please help me please two things here number one uh obviously Joe titman has gone through some snapping issues and we've highlighted that here on the show when he has good moments I think we should also highlight it Joe titman coming off a wonderful day apparently of snapping the football where there was no egregious errors according to Nick Faria so tip of the cap two titman and here's something and and why I did not include Center on this list or I would have is today actually Joe tippman got banged up at Jet's practice which is not good but the first person who came into snap was West schwitzer so that should make you at least feel a little bit better about it that it wasn't Chris Glazer you know which feels like if you guys have ever seen the movie Dodgeball and uh you have Ben Stiller's character right he's going through his list of introducing his team uh to the group he's like we have blade laser Blazer so every time I hear like Chris Glazer that's immediately what I think you know they're going through the line and that's that's what we're getting uh but the good news is schwitzer was the one to immediately step up but still I don't like the fact that you know we talk about if someone gets shot well at least you got the VP you know the fact is what if the VP get shot like who's delivering the mail for the mailman so to speak so okay West schwitzer apparently according to the unofficial depth chart too a little bit if any of the Interior guys gets hurt of Simpson uh titman or avt schwitzer's your guy well okay but what if he gets hurt then who's that guy like the fact you have one guy filling three holes in theory makes sense but it doesn't because you want someone that can fill multiple uh points um that I think would be interesting so that's just one thing I'd like to throw out so there's good and bad to what you said from Jet's practice today so just want to sprinkle in a little bit more on that let me also just say in the comments every name and and I want to read this I have I have a story coming out later this evening on heavy on Jets but you guys are getting the exclusive scoop I'm giving you a quote from that story that story is not even posted yet Nick Faria joined me earlier today on the man shout show of boy green right here on this very Studio as a matter of fact and he had this eyebrow racing comment about Michael Clem like that's a story let me talk about it and plus of course him being starting on the unofficial dep truck I said wow Clemens is the you know starting on the dep sh that's pretty impressive and here is Nick F I'll read you the quote quote he has been getting a lot of first team reps because he has looked pretty damn good I think the Jets see him as the John Franklin Myers replacement the fact that he's been on the first team right now shows you that they see him as a run stuffing defensive end yes he could sometimes rush the passer but when he's on the field the expectation is he will stop the run he contains his gaps he sets The Edge and does all the things a defensive end is required to do that on Michael Clemens and he's look pretty damn good uh in practice and there are I don't want to name names I'm not that kind of guy you know when you point one finger at someone else you got a couple of fingers pointed back this way but there are a few Jets analysts in the community that said Michael climon should be released ah Michael Clem should be cut the Jets go [ __ ] you pal okay he's starting boom in the lineup even above all Willie McDonald okay he The Edge to Michael Comm and again they do a rotation so I'm not going to really bash the Will McDonald thing I don't care as I believe Nick ferious said on the show today you know Bry was a backup last year you got 10 sacks yeah that looks pretty good so I won't beat a dead horse there but what I will say is so many people have mischaracterized Michael Clemens in his impact and I'm not saying he's a perfect player again he had mistakes last year of course he did but boy the Jets believe in him they believe in him and he's nowhere near the roster bubble this guy's a roster lock and I think he's going to have a huge impact on the team this year so I'm telling you Michael Clemens too many people sleepy sleepy I'm a boy Michael Clemens and do show at your own Peril um I don't I don't know if people like El almost anyone um was hating on Clemens like that I I I did you know I heard a little bit of it but he was super popular his rookie year right and then you know the popularity popularity kind of waned a little bit um I think that is when I said um because I've seen in the comments I think I did say hot to right people were thinking about Clemens you know um you know we can get somebody else so he has been disrespected but I don't know if it's as um prevalent as you are making it seem uh I definitely can think of some jetss that have that have endured more disrespect from the fan base but um let me uh let me do my number one so we can talk about something else okay all right all right I prefer about Michael Clemens but number one well my number one is Michael Clemens over Will McDonald all right our lists were completely different I I was actually shocked going through like oh I know you're gonna cover this no nothing nothing so by the time we got to number one I was like oh all right I guess we're have a completely different list but not at the top not at the top because it's inarguable this is super big news and you know boy green right first of his name kudos to you taking the high road one I plan on being uh live after every game two hours after for our postgame shows but to be honest why wouldn't we do it for a preseason game so you know what yes uh we will see Woody normally joins me for the morning version Game Day shows uh we'll see on post games this year I I don't know that'll be up to I'll Ali oop that back to Woody as we're doing some sort of weird basketball game here I guess but in terms of Woody joining us for a postgame shows he has not joined me previously uh for the postgame shows there is call-in lines and things of that nature but uh Woody all Ali you that
