well I really really really just can't believe that we are still talking about the acolyte I can't believe that the people just can't let this die already my god listen please move on the show's canceled it's over it's done move on to something else good Lord H can't believe I have to talk about this so a manless Stenberg blames fans for the acolyte cancellation it's a bold strategy cotton let's see if it pays off for him yeah man it's almost like this happens every time a show goes on or it goes off every time a series is cancelled anytime you know something doesn't go the way that they want it to it's because the bigots didn't watch the series don't watch bigots bigots don't watch how come the bigots didn't watch that is my favorite or you know the toxic fans right and in this which we're going to be talking about here the toxic fans are pretty much people who just have anything negative or any sort of criticisms is considered as hatred right you're a hater which then is internalized as well if you hate the show that means you automatically hate aanda Stenberg you you hate her even though I I've never even heard of her prior to this and I didn't even know she was going to be in the show the only thing I knew about the show was that it was being done by lley Leslie Hedland you know the former Harvey Weinstein assistant people conveniently forgot about that and and that's on all of a sudden that's forgotten about though right people don't talk about that enough so let's let's break this down right so Amanda Stenberg finally reacts to the cancellation of her Star Wars series The acolyte in a 10-minute video posted to her Instagram story The 25-year-old actress blames the fans conservative the outright and insinuates Trump is to blame for the series cancellation Stenberg says she wasn't surprised by the news of the cancellation because of all the vital surrounding the show from a certain segment of the fandom so here's the thing and this is what I love right again look at the way it's framed you know read between the lines she's clearly saying that the show suffered because of a certain group of people well if those certain group of people have so much power you know guess what maybe there is the fact that these are the majority of the viewers who did not like the show and thought it was bad uh the ratings are in it it died due to low viewership especially when you conflated with the right of the budget of having to make a $180 million series The acolyte was canceled by Disney likely due to poor viewership the official neelson read uh viewership ratings which are attached to Disney Plus accounts revealed the acolyte to be the least watch Star Wars show on Disney plus many episodes didn't even register on the neelon charts and the season finale is also the least watched season finale for Star Wars show on Disney plus if we look at these charts real quick you can see too Ahsoka right all Eight Episodes 575 minutes total Andor 674 674 million minutes you know with each Series this number is going down drastically so it is no surprise then and these Series in particular if we want to talk about like Obi-Wan right talk about possibly Ahsoka and the caveat the exception to the rule being and and we'll get into that real quick but for instance Obi-Wan Kenobi $90 million half the budget of you know the acolyte but also it kind of gave you a little bit more stuff between Anakin and you know Obi-Wan Vader Obi-Wan which you know I know a lot of people didn't care for this series but for me there were certain things I enjoyed about it and their interactions I felt were actually very good I enjoyed that part but I'm not so delusional to know that if it wasn't Obi-Wan and if it wasn't you know if there wasn't some some decent enough parts to it probably wouldn't have gotten that million you know that many million minutes watched either and then when you talk about book of Boba Fett you know coming off of the hype of the Mandalorian right book people were excited to see what was going to be done in the book Boba Fett and you know to the honest credit I enjoyed boba in the Mandalorian as he was portrayed much more than his own series and then when you talk about Andor now I enjoyed season one of Andor right however the only reason why this is getting a series two right or a second season if you wish to say that is because it was already pre-negotiated when Andor was going to be made in the first place that it would get at least two seasons out of the gate depending on where they wanted to go with the series this was already written no matter how poor you know the seasons do it was already guaranteed for that they already pretty much put the money aside they they accounted for that you know which let's be fair the only reason why Andor was a series in the first place is because of how well Rogue did and then of course Ahsoka right she her return with Rosario Dawson was huge in the Mandalorian and stuff like that so that's why people also really enjoyed clone wars and Rebels to a certain degree so they wanted to see that as well so a lot of this is you know going off of property properties that characters enjoyed even the Mandalorian if we look at the Mandalorian itself now granted this is taken into an account all three seasons but 1,000 million minutes watched across 24 episodes so it's no surprise that these shows are doing better so let's see here in the video Stenberg began by acknowledging the cancellation daating I'm going to be transparent and say that it's not a huge shock for me if you were genuine in this and didn't clearly have a bias an ideological bias you would understand that it just didn't resonate with people right and you know it's funny because this this sort of you know Hollywood hive mind is the same that you see all the time she will go on to talk about you know the the racists of the show and the alt-right conserv hyper conservative people that you know dismissed the show before it even got to came to FR uh fruition which if I'm being you know totally honest I'll go yeah I can see that of course right of course that's a problem but what is never condemned is the idea that you are allowed to critique the show without people jump lumping you in with the alright never once in this video does she say now you know not once does she go okay you know I this show felt got a lot of stuff from racist and bigots but I also want to keep in mind that just because people don't like the show doesn't immediately make them racist and bigots right why isn't she singling that out too isn't that an important thing because again she is framing it as if all the people who are criticizing the show are haters even if they're not racist and all-right you know they're they're haters and therefore she's taking it personally then you know understanding that it is about the show itself right now you cannot deny the fact that if you go on a lot of these social media platforms Twitter especially the most people are talking about the show is its representation and its shipping as if those things are the most important faculty to the series they are not um she also brought on a lot of this with her diss track right there is an Insider specifically who said you know that was a sort of mediator in between the goings on going on between uh Lucas film and Disney that said this gave a negative you know Viewpoint to people who saw the diss track they immediately decided to write this series off because of it and in that dist track she talks about you know how the AL only alt-right people if you're a Nazi or a bigot or a racist you say woke and it's like well I'm sorry that's not reality woke has been changed right the meaning of woke has changed from what it used to be but that's just reality the meanings of words change all the time right people change it all the time it's just a reality you have to accept and the real it is when people say woke genuine when Gen people genuinely say woke and they're not just saying it for whatever reason they mean that when you have stories and characters right and they're poorly written and it's at the expense of putting a message forward or representation or caring more about putting non-binary actors in shows and and not caring so much about how their characters are written in the shows that is what being woke is right we used to have representation and wokeness in a lot of series you know throughout media but it was never at the expense of quality and now it is being pushed by activists and people who only care about having the gay as Star Wars right instead of going hey let's focus on incorporating our you know message that we want which is what good story storytelling does it encores incorporates the message you want to get across but it doesn't do it at the expense of everything else and it's also by people who generally love the series I don't want lle Leslie Hedland to write an Old Republic show keep her away from it if anything this should be her never getting a chance to write Star Wars again write something else please and you know this should show it the ratings should show that people both Marvel and Disney people are tired of the slop which is what it is it's not quality anymore it is just like conveyor belt level slop however she quickly shifted the conversation to the backlash she claims the series faced from the moment it was announced for those who aren't aware there there has been a rampage a rampage of vitriol that we have faced since the show was even announced when it was still just a concept that no one had ever seen it well more people were more people were angry which is true at the fact that the show they knew the show was going to be crap because Disney Star Wars has been crap for the most part it's been very mixed and uneven and because of Leslie Hedland you know the former assistant to Harvey Weinstein like I don't know why people suddenly forget about this when they're when they're talking about the show and again I reiterate the only positives that I ever see people talking about it is the shipping and the representation no one actually ever talks about how well the constructed characters are why they were well constructed and even in looking at responses from fans of the high Republic which this series is at the tail end of they never bring up anything that relates to you know events of the high Republic you know I believe vestra vestra was a character in the high Republic but they never talk about any of her stuff you know at the height of the high Republic and a lot of those fans are angry too because why they are disrespecting the sour material this is where it all boils down to you are making series for a pre-established thing that has fans right fans of it you decide rout routinely and not just with this with other Series in Hollywood and in video games now too is starting to be a problem where you don't want to have people who are actually fans of the thing be in the thing and you don't want them to have any knowledge of previous material you know you have actors saying Anakin blew up the Death Star like I'm sorry but when you say that that gives me no confidence that you actually know what you're talking about or care about what you're talking about and so if you're not going to again make something for the majority of the audience they are not going to watch it the worst thing that happened is telling people not to hate watch stuff because when you had have apathy for something when you are indifferent and you care no way you care strong no strong way either or you decide to bypass things completely and that's where the you know lack of viewership comes in and then you have people saying well the show uh failed because of re review bombing well if the show failed because of re review bombing doesn't that mean that the review bombers are the majority of the people who watch the series or who watch Star Wars so they didn't like it which is why they didn't turn out all these series man none of these people want to take you know accountability for their failure in portraying a character or in their engagement with the fan base she continued by pointing the blame at those she believes were behind the negative reaction uh Stenberg pointed to a rampage of I would say hyper conservative bigotry in vitrio prejudiced hatred and hateful language toward us if those people again if you're claiming these people had so much power then guess what whether you like it or not they are the majority of the fan base so you know if you don't make something that people don't like and it doesn't make money which Disney now is finally realizing that a lot of their stuff Marvel and Star Wars are failing and costing them hundreds of millions of dollars and tens of millions of dollars that don't bring back the results that they need you know look at Deadpool and Wolverine I mean that show that movie I mean is is it's a fun movie right it's it's it's good and it is doing crazy numbers in the box office she confessed reflecting on the emotional toll of her perceived backlash this really affected me when I first got the job because it's not something even though I anticipated it happening it's not something you can truly understand what it feels like until it's happening to you listen I'm not going to go out here and say to harass anybody or to be a racist anybody obviously that's stupid don't do that I'll never I'll always condemn it I'll never condone it right but you also need to respect the fans too and you need to respect people who criticize the show like I said there's no there's no advocacy for from these celebrities by going it is totally okay for you to hate the show people are allowed to hate any hate the series as long as you don't take it out on the actors if you hate the show if you it's the worst thing ever cool you're allowed to do that just don't be stupid about it right but they don't do that why because it doesn't it hurts their feelings when people criticize the show they're in that's why this is all based off of you know their own ideological Viewpoint their own feelings and stuff like that it's not ever based in reality if you make a show that has a high budget that gets very low numbers very low viewings it will not be renewed right and some of the examples people have been using are ridiculous someone brought up you know uh Supernatural as like look at you know this series lasted 15 Seasons I was like well first of all it's it was on the CW and I forget what it used to be before it was called CW but it was one of the flagship series that brought in a consistent fan base right even if it dropped throughout the years it was still maintaining on a on a channel that was considered by most people to be awful you know what I mean I mean look at the series that you know dropped all around it while it's still remained that is an exception right people bring up these examples and it's like these are exceptions they're not the rule so anytime you bring up an exception it doesn't help you and I could totally understand like again like I said not realizing the amount of hatred she get but here's the reality people get hatred all the time on especially on social media you just kind of got to live with it right like it people get death threats and and every sort of thing you can think of in terms of in terms of being insulted on the Internet it's nothing new it's not going to change you got to just you know forget about them ignore them and move on no one and I guarantee you and I'm not saying no one but I would say most people if she hadn't made a diss track and were constantly on the fan base which is a tactic that a lot of these celebrities do if she didn't do that people would be way more on her side right if if they didn't care about pushing non-binary you know oh nonbinary actress in Star Wars for the first time that does nothing towards the quality of the show it should not be a main selling point for the series or any series rather that is not how you bring in an audience what is a non non-binary actor being in a show mean for quality of a show it means nothing it was kind of like it was kind of like I had this very unique experience of experiencing The World At Large which is of course hyper divisive right now through the lens of this very very unique opportunity of being in Star Wars and it brought up a lot for me a lot of a lot uh social political Dynamics a lot about my own value system how I respond to that kind of hatred how I move through the World At Large I think your best bet is to not is to be completely apolitical is to go hey you know I understand if you don't like the show if if if she came out and said hey you know I understand there there's people out there who don't like the show I understand they're very critical of it and I understand Star Wars mean a lot to them I would appreciate it and and if you did not send me you know death threats and racist and bigot you know sort of remarks and that in mind I also understand that not everyone is doing this that it is only a small group of people and that most people are just giving their honest opinion about a series if if any of these celebrities did that people would not have a problem with it they would respect it they would accept that but no it's it's always one extreme just never can never just be honest with ourselves sh thanked the fans that did like the show for their support and said the target attack wasn't just about disliking the show but was rooted in deeper more troubling societal issues again I think this is a lot of projection here she talked about living in her own bubble and I think this is more evident of that it's like you're saying that but you're also it's like you're lacking the self-awareness to actually accept it right and obviously if people enjoy something whatever they enjoy it no problem there but but you you can't deny the fact that the ratings and the viewership wasn't there that people overall just didn't show up for the show Stenberg concluded her message with a call to action that also alludes to political responsibility while she didn't mention any political figures by name the timing and context of her remarks is no coincidence and strongly hints at her views on the current political climate in what can be interpreted as a direct reference to former president Donald Trump she urged her viewers to vote I'll continue the process for uh to process this for a long time but maybe the last thing I want to say on this subject is that we all exist but I'm serious it's not lost on me how the way that the event these events have unfolded is also due to the hyper divisiveness of the time that we live in that is driven I would say at this point by Echo chambers of thought and algorithms that reinforce our biases so what she said saying in this right could be taken as like she has a point to a degree if in this next paragraph she also doesn't largely look down on people who are uh not of her political ideology and I think that applies to everybody but I think in a particular sect of people it manifests as a lot of fear of what is changing and a lot of hatred for anything that is other and I would challenge us all and challenge myself to continue questioning what it is that I digest and think critically about what shapes it this is literally like speaking but not following your own advice this is looking down on people who don't share your Viewpoint as their fear and hatred no they do not have to accept things that you want them to you do not control people they are allowed to look at certain things and go I don't like that if you like it that's fine but the minute you start trying to you know say accept it or else that's what people have a problem with and this is the problem this is the hive mind Cult of Hollywood and a lot of these celebrities and a lot of these journalists and stuff like that they followed the same message at the end of the day the show failed uh Disney has confirmed it's because of low ratings okay they can't just keep wasting money on stuff despite the fact that they are worth a lot of money they have you know millions billions of dollars but I mean you can't just keep losing money as they have been or they're going to have to make drastic changes which it looks like they're starting to do so this is just a reality you know these people never want to take acceptance for you know an accountability for the part that they play in how things go sour well that's it for this video Higgins my man play them out play them that haunting air you played me this morning [Music]
