as they say around here Keep Austin Weird they're going to keep it electric today inside Daryl K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium home to the Longhorns today we have one of those games that test your focus top 25 team against an unranked opponent can you take care of business as we'll see a squad from the Mountain West the Colorado State Rams taking on the third ranked team in the land the Texas lonor 48 sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer and guys can't wait to get this one started and the Rams will kick it away to start fielded In The End Zone it's golden not nearly as much as he' hoped when he brought it out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the 15 so the tech his Longhorns Return Man hardly helped out the offense with that one and this wide receiver he's the Lynch pin to the offense they want to make sure they find a multitude of ways to get him the football and it's a risk reward scenario on defense when you're trying to cover this guy re because you play Man coverage you risk him running by you and catching deep balls you play too much Zone and then he can hurt you after the catch a lot of different ways this guy is very dangerous got three on first down it's second and seven the give to the running back from the shotgun out across the 20 to the 21 yd line a three- yd gain I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job gang tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs now they'll face third and four in their first possession of the game from the gun give on the inside and he's knocked down but not before moving the chain and I think on that last run play on third down here early in the game they're making a statement that we believe we're the more physical team and we're going to run the football even if you know it's coming at you nice job they've got the ball at Midfield I expect to see more run plays coming up wide out in motion looking for a physical attack from the gun in his sophomore season he's really learned to find that Running Room every offense wants to be able to run the ball and be physical especially on first down and you want to create second and short third and short or just get first downs like that run right there the Longhorns are rolling down the field on the run it's maxter that's a really good job by the defense wrapping them up getting them on the ground take away that run game make them onedimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense after picking up a couple at second and eight I from the offense the give from the gun a confident tough efficient run gets it up to the 44 I think that was an example of the offensive coordinator trying to help out his quarterback he's trying to keep these third Downs manageable you know you throw the ball on second down and it's incomplete now you've set up third and long and now you're set up to fil third and short from the 44 and we might know if they plan to go for it on fourth down by what they call here to the ground to try to move the chains they were all over him nowh to go as that third down play turned into a disaster and when you play defensive end it's all about getting off the football you can tell gets off the football really fast Gets In The Back Field gets the running back before he knows what hit him what a play by the defensive end the Longhorns send out the punt unit they'll have to punt for the first time this afternoon on the return it's Horton they'll get down and put a stop to the return at about the 28 yd line so the Colorado State Rams offense taking the field first chance we have to see them today when you have a weapon like this on the outside and a guy in the secondary whose job is to take everything away it's going to be a great matchup guys it's so fun to see how you attack great safeties in the middle of the field are you willing to do that or you going to try to live on the perimeter this offensive match up will be great yeah normally you'd say receiver versus safety the receiver is going to win this safety though got the speed to run with this guy and he's going to make it interesting back there this crowd full throat splitting the eard drums and letting him know it's going to be a long day good job to avoid the negative play and just get rid of that thing better find the ear plugged here comes the noise backing this defense on third down back to throw it's Fowler niosi right on the money to the outside he dragged the toe and how about the ball placement only the receiver could get it and third down is money down I got to have guys that come up big and really nice job of understanding where I'm out on the field to make sure I keep that foot in bounds and get the big first down the Rams want to crank the tempo they're going to throw it again unloads to the right got his man big play for this offense as they get it to the 32 and you see running backs in today's football they play wide receiver basically for you but you got to find a guy that you can throw it to and you know he's going to catch the ball consistently and the Rams with the first and 10 looking to move it through the air got his man downfield they get him down but this offense is set up first goal from the nine and a really good job by the quarterback being very decisive he saw his matchup he went for it he attacked it got the positive game I would say he's going to find that guy a few more times today fans are bringing the noise on first and goal quick touch pass to the receiver and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land you got to Fight Fire with Fire you got to fight speed with speed there's a receiver with the ball out in the open field trying to get the corner but a cornerback with the same type of speed and athleticism able to make the tackle nice job to the air it's Fowler niosi lets it go to the end zone and he can't find his man as he was trying to pay off this Red Zone opportunity and how loud is it in this building this is crazy this these fans are going absolutely nuts and I used to love when the fans got involved and I'm on defense because it messes with the snap count it messes with the communication and it can really rattle an offense third and goal and they'll try to pass it in leashes to the end zone fires into traffic intercepted and defensive backs you think don't have good hands the big fell shows it how about that defensive back going up and getting the interception nice job breaking on the football you say that's why you play defense cuz you don't [Music] hands so now the long horns take over and they'll send out the offense that last Drive won't go on the Highlight Reel after ending in a punt they'd like to be more productive this time David and I think this offense has to be a little bit more balanced find a little balance between the Run Jesse and working in that pass I think too David it's just going to take a spark it just takes one play to get this thing picked up and going and the Longhorns will hustle to the line quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep on his feet at the 40 and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop I love that play call and I love the timing of the pre- snap motion because the quarterback was able to get it to the receiver right behind the offensive line because of the timing he was able to outflank the defense that puts him out in space where he's able to use his speed nice job with the pre- snap motion and timing running back goes in motion looking to throw it's yers it's complete to the left and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few and you don't see that often when you run in a screen and you're featuring the running back and setting it up but you go elsewhere it's nice job by the offense nice job by the quarterback in particular seeing the defense saying I can make a play somewhere else and he goes and does it picked up some yardage with that completion now second down now the play fake unloads to the wide out pulls it in he found his man and zipped it in there and they've got a first down in the red zone at the 11 and there was no question in that scenario that's where the quarterback was going he knew he had his receiver in a matchup that he liked running a route where he would find himself opening nice job between those two they've moved it into scoring territory first and 10 from the 11 going to run it it's Baxter that play just never had a chance they knock him down for a loss of five at this part of the field in the Red Zone offensively you're bringing all these tight ends in the game you'd like to be more physical at the point of attack that's why you're bringing the big bodies in but they couldn't get it done up front and as a result it's a negative play they'll try to make up for that last one on second and 15 wide receiver coming across in motion looking to pass on second down caught over the middle it's golden they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker well we knew coming into this game this offense was going to try and get this receiver involved and get him involved early so here they are just finding an easy completion it's not not a touchdown but they just want to get this guy lathered up and get him into a runner on third and long tried to convert through the air oh and he dropped it he had a touchdown right in his hands and couldn't hang on it'll be fourth down I tell you what I don't know if the offense was expecting man coverage that time third and long in field goal range you're expecting it to be Zone instead they lock him up manto man everybody on an island everybody want they get the incompletion Now setting up fourth and it's right down the Boulevard and the first points of the day come on that field goal [Music] [Applause] [Music] after putting up the field goal they're set to kick it away from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 as they get set to snap at time winding down here in the quarter from the gun running back back on the move they shut it down quickly but he gets two out to the 18 guys it is Texas who holds the lead and after that first quarter let's see if these guys can get back in the game in the [Applause] second will'll get this quarter going with a second down play looking to throw it's fower niosi gets it to the back he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down this defense is going to have to be careful not only do they have to worry about this guy running the football but they've got to keep their eye on him when he runs routes too he is a versatile back the Rams want to move quickly they'll try to get the first through the air working that left side now and he'll have enough for the first down at the 42 well look that wasn't a touchdown but that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback getting through his progression and the Rams getting set on First and 10 they'll go to the ground not much working there it'll be second and nine yeah and the running back didn't get much here but you know you clearly want to always establish the tempo run the football be consistent make that defense physically meet the challenge didn't get much on first down it's second and nine they feed him again they knock him down right there great job of contained by this defense and in order to do that the end man on the line of scrimmage defensively has got to be able to set the point and force the football back into traffic and that's exactly what happened there some third down conversions tougher than others this one a long one on third down from the 43 off play action looking to the big tight end he's got it plenty of room on that play and they find their way to the 36 man the tight ends are one of the most versatile guys in the field and you see it right here the play action they're used to blocking right now is slipped right by the linebackers SLI to the second level come open the quarterback finds them in great Rhythm the Rams are flying down the field quarterback Quick Pass to the receiver dances away from the deep and these little touch passes man they're just the easiest completions ever for quarterbacks Palmer I bet you would have loved being able to just Flip It Forward that counts as to your completion percentage which is good and then it's all run after the catch so pretty easy for a QB you wouldn't have been the only allamerican in this booth David if I were allowed to have Push passes when I was playing quarterback I'll tell you that it is so hard to defend it's so hard to seal that edge especially when this guy's Full Speed Ahead coming around the leftside Wilds ahead for a up of one to the 32 Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down dropping back it's Fowler nikolos just a short pass to the tight end now he's got it all the way down to the 21 yd line and they are threatening on first down they pick up the first down on the drag route I know that seems like a simple route but it's actually a lot more complex than what it looks like because that route changes based on whether it's man or Zone if it's man coverage he's flying across the field if it's Zone he's got to sit down over the ball in a soft spot giving his quarterback a place to go with it nice job with those guys being on the same page there caught near the sidelines he'll pick up a few before going out of bounds it must be nice for this quarterback knowing he's got this type of athlete playing the tight end position that can work the middle of the field form he's a guy who can stretch it vertically as well but this is a guy the QB will look for early and often in this game and the Rams in the hurry up he bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one all right if you're a quarterback in that situation you know there's nowhere to go so just cut your losses you're right absolutely slide don't take the extra punishment you just give up on the play third down and this crowd will blow out a vocal cord to help this defense from the gun wants to pass he got it takes it to the house touchdown Rams and what a nice start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in a rhythm nice start for this offense they'll try to tack one more on their score and the extra point is good and it's a four-point lead they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring drive and the Capper a 19 yd toss for the touchdown a lining up to boot it away coming out with it it's golden not nearly as much as he' hoped when he brought it out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the 15 and here come the horns they've got it again on offense they had to settle for the Chip Shot field goal last time Jesse they'd love for this one to pay off bigger yeah it just comes down to execution too did a nice job out in the field stalled a little bit once they got down to the goal line so they just need to be a little bit more Cris here yeah and listen I I think the first part was the most important part you got to put the drive together first to get down there now when we get down there focus on execution and getting six points after the productive first down play it's second and six wide receiver now comes in motion caught in the back field it's golden and they'll bring him down but not before he picks up the first down nice completion here to this wide receiver and you're going to see this receiver line up in different spots all over the field all game long defense has got to keep their eye on where this guy is because they know he's a big part of this offensive success they've got it first and 10 from the 25 the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D grabbed in the back field it's hell they stop him just a link or two short short of the first and man what they can do on second down here another catch by the big fell and hey this defense now in the second level they've got to understand that they're going to see some play action they can't keep biting on the fake it's not easy to do you've got to be aware of the tight end in his release as soon as you see him get up field right now you know it's p so don't even worry about the fake get your eyes focused and find the big fell to go make a tackle and make a play on the ball and most importantly they got the first they've been getting pushed around up front this game haven't created a lot of lanes to run the football but you needed it you needed that first down you needed to get the sticks moving you need to run some clocks so good job by the offense finding a little bit of space to get the first down they're getting this guy lathered up and he is swarmed under a host of Defenders there to make the stop you know runs like this often times are like a boxer in a boxing match obviously it's not a knockout punch but these are body blows and as the game goes on these small gains are going to turn into longer runs second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning the clock has reached the two-minute Mark and they have a chance to at least cut into this lead before the break now on second down to the air it's yers fires to the wide out makes the grab finally run out of bounds but he has this defense rolling with a first down man this offense is so dangerous ree they've got dudes all over the field that can make plays there's a big gainer in the pass game you get a chunk of yards like that now the defense is really on its heels not the most productive half for this offense so far but finally starting to get it in gear first and 10 quickly out to the tight end he's brought down solid pickup but a little bit short of the first down really good concept step there to get things going and use the tight end early yeah I mean just such a great job on first down setting up an easier second down understanding I don't always have to push the ball down the field but see the tight end make the throw no it's not a big gain but makes life really easy on the unse second down snags it over the middle a quick tackle made but he's got plenty for the first down really nice job there by the quarterback understanding it's Blitz and not just that it's Blitz but knowing whether it's man coverage or Zone coverage behind the blitz You' still got to know where your answer is going to be based on what the defense is doing in the back end and he add the answer to the test right there from the Red Zone looking for a man quick completion on the out touch down Texas made the grab and finish the deal in the end zone and I just love the execution by this offense late in the half man you want to take the lead you want to get that momentum on your and they do it they finish it with the passing game and I tell you what eat that passing game up you can keep this lead keep the momentum and keep putting up [Music] numbers lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point gives him a three-point lead at 10 to7 so a drive there of 85 yards and they close the deal with a 16 yd throw for the touchdown the kickoff team out there set to boot it away here he comes from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 Colorado State takes over over the ram offense returns to the field just gets rid of it to the running back underneath a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half here comes the offense on second down looking for a man it's Fowler nikosi finds the tight end we've got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break so they facing third and short from the 25 they'll try to pick up the first through the air got the back over the middle and they finally haul him down but not before the good catch and run the offense calls a timeout to stop the clock the Rams will have it first and 10 he's going to pass finds his big tight end stopped at the 47 yd line a 10yd gain and they'll move the markers love the way he didn't just run to a spot he found the cushion in the zone and got himself open for the first down yeah and you're taught to find that space don't run right with a Zone Defender who's sitting there looking at the quarterback and looking at you so much creativity with routes now and being able to just have subtle moves One Way come back the other way nice job by the tight end finding that hole in the zone and just too much on that pass too high too wide out of bounds an incomplete long incompletions are okay we got to take shots you got to make big plays in college football I love that you're taking shots keep taking them some of those are going to come home some of them aren't but when they come home they equal Big Time points he's going to pass on second down had to throw it before he wanted nowhere close on that one as he got drilled trying to deliver the football and now they fac third down doesn't take this defense a lot of time to get to the quarterback man they've got speed all over the place they hit him so quickly and because of that the ball Falls incomplete just a few seconds remaining here as they try to put something up before halftime and that'll be incomplete they certainly weren't afraid to take a shot there and now it's fourth down and how nice is it to have the home crowd going absolutely bananas communication is harder the snapping the football everybody being on time man this crowd really affecting the football game they'll have just enough time to get one more snap before the half a shot toward the end zone and that falls incomplete on fourth down but wait just a second there is a flag and this is a big call and the defender just way too handsy on that last play you could see all the contact as the ball was in the air you simply can't do it and the referee's caught never a doubt for this bigf footed guy 49 yd field goal is good [Applause] that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with a halftime update thanks guys looks like we've got a superb matchup in Austin today it's been very evenly played through two quarters both teams have been physical both teams have battled there in the trenches neither has been perfect but they're both right there in this game and it's kind of the C before the stor form each side sort of licking their wounds right now but expect another fight in a phone booth in this second half and with that let's get it back to our Phillis at DKR the LGH horns will kick it away to start the second half he'll bring it back from inside his spot he was looking for some Running Room room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 we will see what this Colorado State offense can get done this time first play from scrimmage here in the second half and they'll keep it on the ground and excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pickup before the defense put a stop to it I love when players understand situations and they understand where the first down marker is and they understand where I got to get to a lot of people you'll see run north south and try to bounce out and make big plays sometimes it's not about making big plays sometimes it's about getting that first down to make sure I get an extra set of fires into traffic picked off takes it the other way touchdown Lorn how about that D coming up with a play like that the DB saw it he thought don't drop it don't drop it then thought don't get caught don't get caught and he didn't the pick six hey these guys can play offense too now look at this I showed you I can be a wide receiver coach might split him out a wide receiver next week after making that big play but defense great job making the interception and you're right doing something with it don't just slide down don't be content take that thing all the way back brother getting set for the point after and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven [Applause] [Applause] they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six on the move from inside is five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 guys will have another Peak at this Rams offense well the good news is they threw a touchdown pass last time it was just to the wrong team Jesse well that's an unfortunate part of the game for quarterbacks but guess what they do happen so you've got to be able to turn the page here and Lead this offense well I think you know this defense is going to be aggressive they're going to jump routes they're going to play aggressive you got to take advantage of that maybe use that this time to your advantage and the Rams want to pick up the tempo scanning the field it's Fowler niosi fires it incomplete quarterback had everything he wanted there he knew pre- snap exactly where he was going of course he was going to be going towards his primary target just can't hook up for the completion they've got him pen deep in their own end In This Crowd trying to help keep them there on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up well after struggling so much in the first half you thought they would have made some adjustments here at halftime to see if they can open up this passing game but early on in the second half you're just not really able to get that done incompletion on third down in your own end you're expecting them to punt fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way that's usually Prime return position but he'll make the fair cat just outside the 40 and here comes the Texas offense back on the field that last touchdown Drive was surgical through the air Jesse it sure was and that's why this offense is so dangerous David because they can score in a hurry because of how efficient they are throwing the football yeah and welcome to Modern college football that's what it is spread you out find my Playmakers make quick decisions and really put defenses in a difficult situation and now on second down for this offense movement here from the tight end he's got an open man he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see which way that's going to [Applause] go the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty pre- snap motion quarterback trying to get a read throws to the wide out and it falls incomplete but that could have been Des disastrous a Defender was right there great play by the defensive back showing you his variety of skills his ability to turn the hips his speed running down field turning his head to locate the football and then siding it away you just can't do it better they'll come to the line at the 42 facing a third and long back to pass it's ERS that is just a sideline credit throw catch tow drag everything you want we asked earlier this week who's your favorite receiver and of course he said the open one but we know who he really wants to go to on third down the best one I mean I think the open one obviously the politically correct answer but you want to find the guy that you got that great chemistry with you know exactly where he's going to be you got that Bond and that trust a most efficient pick up of six on first down it's second and four I think one of the hardest things to do is stick to the Run when it's not working but it's Those runs right there the reason why you have to do it right you can't get two one dimensional keep slipping Those runs in there keep getting a little bit of positive yards next thing you know you look up and you might break one of those after you got them a little bit tired back to the ground with the running back moves It Forward just a bit a pick up of one to the 35 the big defensive tackles in the middle they're not always the best pass rushers but they are strong and I say Country Strong they put their hands on you you feel it they lock people out on the line of scrimmage they create separation they wrap running backs up and usually they don't get out of the midst of those big boys grab behind the line it's Bon they were banking on the yards after the catch but that went into the negative column and I'm banking on the ball coming out quick when I'm a defense and understanding third and short understand they're going to throw the ball really quick try to make a play the defense knew it broke on the football made a nice tackle to force a fourth down they've decided to try to go for the field goal here it's good and that lead grows even bigger how nice is it as a head coach to have a kicker like this it makes these decisions on fourth down so much easier just TR him out there and let him stroke it through the outs [Music] [Applause] [Music] they'll kick it away after putting up a field goal on that last Drive he'll start the return inside his five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Colorado State takes over the ram offense returns to the field the deficit here is just 10 points David So a chance to answer here plenty of time left in this football game no need to panic this offense just has to put a couple Drives together and listen the defense will get this back and get some stop fmer and get you the football back and I think I think here too David you have an opportunity to keep the pressure on the opponent yeah they just went down and scored but you score here and this game still tight you keep their feet to the fire so an opportunity here to keep applying that pressure give to the running back pretty good job of running to get two there to the 32 and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first the Rams headed quickly to the line little touch pass to the receiver just working and poking and prodding and finding his way up to the 36 well and on these little push passes timing is so important you're trying to snap it right as he's getting a full head of steam when he gets the ball he's hitting the outside and David it puts the defense in such a difficult spot you immediately have to be rotating when you see that motion so everybody's got to communicate and kind of bump over over that's why offenses love to run it just it makes the defense communicate and see if you can just get him out of a spot and he's to the 48 yd line that'll be good enough for a first down and for a draw play to be successful it's not just the quarterback that has to sell pass but also the offensive line the tackles really letting their defensive ends Rush up field guards and centers passing their guys off at the last second and then running down the field trying to get hats on hats in the second level beautiful execution off the play fake on first down to throw a strike downfield really putting together a threat now they get the first it's at the 37 they might have the defense's head spinning a little bit now hit him with a big run now they hit him with a big pass man it's so hard to defend both you know that what coverage do I want to put do I want to put more people in the Box to stop the run when you've got this kind of balance on offense the defense can't be right single back formation and they give it to it they make the stop but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all about that penalty moves the ball back 10 yds will replay the down first down for this offense leaves it with the back really nice stop there from this senior leader this offensive line better figure out a plan for this D tackle he is tough to block with one guy you might want to start double teaming him he's going to be a problem moving forward you saw all of his ability on that last play offense gets set for second down looking downfield it's fower niosi finds his man in the middle they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground cover to pick up the first well these wide receivers work the middle of field so much of this is field understanding where the holes are in the zone or understanding how to get leverage on a man and these wide receivers are dangerous nowadays because they do it so fast and see that so quick and make those plays over the middle on Third and long hoping to throw beyond the sticks wide open downfield he was working his way toward that goal line they'll stop him at the two after the big play up top well how about the offense setting that play up we've seen earlier in the game a couple shorter throws but just trying to suck those safeties closer to the line of scrimmage anticipating that they would get an opportunity to take a shot they called the perfect play at the perfect time right there they'll run it on first and goal and they get nothing the ball remains at the 2yd line well this is a def that we know takes tons of Pride stopping the Run that's where it all starts and ends with them and you saw a great effort on that last play can the defense stop him again on second and goal trying to punch it in and he takes it in for the score touchdown Colorado State sometimes we ask coaches about halftime adjustments and they go blah blah blah blah blah blah and then sometimes they make some good ones sometimes that blah blah blah blah blah actually works but it's working now but it might be too little too late but at least you got the party [Applause] started now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and with the extra point every little bit counts as they get [Applause] closer lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive and he takes this from inside the five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 the longhorn sending the offense back on to the field man how comforting is it to know that even if your offense stalls out a little Jesse that field goal kicker can knock it in from the long way out well he's one of the best in the country re no doubt but this offense would like him and prefer for him to kick an extra point on this drive and to do that David they've got to have more Rhythm on offense yeah create some more Rhythm create some more explosive plays and maybe some more balance and listen it's nice to have that weapon and kick long field goals you kick too many field goals you don't get very many W's running back searching for a hole tripped up at the 25 after picking up four I think they called that knowing they weren't going to hit a home R so why would you call it that well you call it so third down becomes an easier down it's not third and long where I have to pass the football now all options on the table as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter to the ground to try to pick up the first at the 35 is open and they make the tackle not before gets the first down now let's see if they rush to the line or let the time run out here in the third guys it is Texas who holds the lead they're sitting in a strong position here with the lead let's take a look at our game you put your defense in a position where hey go out and get another stop we're in great shape so the offense definitely taking care of their business P unit on the field and the extra point extends the lead to double figures at 10 quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they finish it in style with a 57 yd toss for six about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 off the play fake on first down wants to throw got him downfield and they were looking for a chunk play and they got it the explosive picks up more than 30 this is the moment for this offense to put a drive together it doesn't matter what's happened up to the point of this game but you're trailing right now you got to put some points up on the board this is where all 11 guys need to be playing together as one keeping it on the ground with the running back and they'll stop him just short of the first down just inches away from moving the sticks man when I can run the football like that on first down and create second and inches and stay way ahead of the and and be in a position now where I can throw the football or run I will have a lot of success on the offensive side of the football leaves it with the back and the Rams will move the sticks with the first down yeah and this offense listen we're in for Speed right we got we got to score a bunch of points here we're down we're trailing we got to go fast but we also got to get first downs that's a nice job sneaking in the Run getting the first down and now we crank the tempo back up the Rams will line it up on First and 10 used the play fake now to throw and the defense will Corral the quarterback and down he goes at Midfield when it's a playaction pass that quarterback he really has to sell the fake he can't tell his offensive lineman's getting beat right away while he's selling the fake he had no shot that offense having to deal with the last thing you want on first down giving up a sack as they come up to the line on second down they'll try to pop the draw and they try to run inside and there is nowhere to go that back had absolutely nowhere to run the football actually is he counting I think he's counting to make sure there's only 11 guys on defense big third down as the crowd Gets behind this defense he's looking downfield to throw got it in the middle it's Horton he was fighting and struggling his way trying to get that first down instead they'll be faced with four well this offense has given a lesson right now in how to fight through adversity because first and second down was ugly but they come up with that huge completion to Now set up a manageable fourth down opportunity to keep this drive alive so here we are on fourth down and this field goal kicker is going to face all the pressure in the world and the kicker delivers the three ball to finish off the drive well you're always going to wonder what would have could have should have happened on Fourth and inches had they gone for it but with this kicker I like taking three points and putting it on the board [Applause] after that last field goal Drive they're set to kick it away on the run from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 here comes the Texas offense and now that cushion is a little bit smaller Jesse and any mistake would get magnified yeah a little bit of pressure now on this offense too David I think they got to go back to their Playmakers and get these guys going in the game no doubt find those plays those plays you know you can run them in your sleep you make sure you execute build this lead a little bit bigger put this thing away in the fourth quarter they'll put it in play from the 27 first down might as well run him until they stop him he's got it again defense not budging he's still able to get two to the 29 at this point of the game the offense has the lead the offensive coordinator knows they want to keep running the football so he's going back he's looking at his playlist he's saying which runs work the best for me in this game what can I lean on right here to make sure we win this one picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down they'll leave it with him good solid pick up on that one they've got it out to the 40 and it's first down and this guy really has been a Workhorse today he's made plays when his offense has needed them the most he's a guy who's reliable they know they can turn around give him the football and he'll go make things work out they're going to need him to finish this game he has to continue playing well after that big run there out of the gun they give to the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one those are the kind of plays in the second half you have to make this back has had plenty of success he's gotten a lot of touches now defensively we got to show him things are about to be different lost one on that last one it's second and 11 after the run run run now to throw oh goes right through his hands and he will think about that one for a while it'll be third down and that's one the offense just needs to be able to hit right that's a completion they should be able to hit in their sleep receivers got to do a better job certain moments in the the game you know we're just a little bit bigger here's one of them big play coming on Third and long all kinds of room to throw that one in there touchdown long horns and once he got away from the D they had no shot at catching it offense gets the job done again you want to build that cushion as we get deeper into the second half man it makes it easy doesn't it you start getting up by a couple POS sessions making the offense very predictable on the other side great job by the offense extending their lead he'll try to tack on one more and the extra point is true and they have a two touchdown lead up 14 in the [Applause] fourth kickoff team is on the field they'll try to drive this one deep he'll bring it out from inside his own 10 he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 we will see what this Colorado State offense can get done this time feeling some heat it's complete they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down and man this quarterback has had a day with that pass he goes over 300 yards on the day really nice job executing putting up some yards today pretty good day for the young man and the Rams moving quickly to the line back to throw it's f colosi he's going for it all oh and he gets downfield for the big catch defense on skates that time they finally drag him down at the 42 it's a beautiful pass and catch I love the job the quarterback does manipulating the defense with his eyes he Froze that safety and that allowed his receiver more room to work his rout he'll come out throwing on first down just too much of a rush and down goes the quarterback just behind the Midfield strike at the 49 that is a nice job by the defense in a sudden change type situation the play before you just gave up a big completion down the field so you got to try to stop the bleeding right away up front your pass rush comes through for you and you create a negative play on second down wants to throw it finds his man it's Horton they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker and defensively this is exactly what you want right you got the big lead so you can play Big Zone coverages just keep the ball in front of you keep your eye on the quarterback rally to the football gang tackle and you're going to win this game two minutes now left in this one and time is running short if they want to find a way to pull this one out debb Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down from the gun wants to pass he's going to let one fly down the middle and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge gain if he could have squeezed it the offense has got to find something here in the fourth quarter you can tell pressing a little bit they need that big play they want that big play to try to make this game a better ball game took the shot unsuccessful but I wouldn't be surprised if they take some more of those on Fourth Down trying to find his man and that is interception number three on the day and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception really nice focus by this sophomore and he jumped on his chance to make a play and that's a really good job by the defense understanding the situation of football it's fourth down it's late in the game you got a multip possession lead take away all the Deep stuff make him Force the football into coverage they do and they stamp this game so Texas has it again and here comes the offense they're in command of this game now let's see if they tried to rub a little salt in the wound or happy with getting the W yeah and listen this this makes the postgame handshake fun sometimes if you do choose to rub a little salt in it and keep chucking and keep scoring I'm here for it Jesse like your job is to score points it's my job to stop it keep the foot to the accelerator keep trying to play ball I agree a th% that's like Steve sprier back in the day when I was playing for the Gators you go and play for him because you want the opportunity to to throw the ball so when you get in the game late you're not handing it off we were beating Central Michigan by 80 something points he was still letting us throw the football it's the defense's job to stop you third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off they'll run it to keep this clock grinding and he'll pick up the first down after a tough run
