hey yo what up what up what up you already know this not a podcast it's just my thoughts with Rob Markman you know I like this format man I like what we're building here yo just turn on the camera and talk about things and have the conversations we we want to have we need to have when it's time to have them um you know there's no set time I record there's no set days just like as things come up so I appreciate y'all on this journey with me thank you for everyone who subscrib thank you for everyone who comments um appreciate the conversation and the comments thank you everybody who takes it off platform I see y comments on Twitter I see your comments on the gram I see y'all spreading the word with me and and for me and I appreciate that and even when I go out you know what I'm saying um even when I'm outside you know what I'm saying I I was just in my old hood in Flatbush Brooklyn I want to shout out hold on cuz I met somebody yesterday and I was just in the hood just walking around and he was like man I appreciate what you do um I just want to get his name right um my man's name is Jermaine Stone all right on the gram he's real wolf of wine and he he's doing something I got to check it out he sent me something I got to check it out but he's doing something interesting like how you know you we have like rap weed kind ofs he he's a wine enthusiast but but spreads it through hip-hop so shout out to him um so you know even when I'm out in the street just I mean we just be outside and people show love love it love y'all for that um today Sunday it's the Lord's Day want to get into lrae man I want to talk about lrae um so you know just to backtrack a little bit right let's give some context Kendrick Lamar man he made a statement on on Wednesday when he dropped the song we still don't know the name all right we're going to call it watch the party die but truthfully the song can be Untitled forever like no one can Dr and again too I saw a theory that people said hey this is the Heart part six dramatically it kind of lines up and and that just didn't name it the Heart part six cuz Drake took the name so he just left it on title only dot knows but I like that theory it's fun um you know I think it's fun to kind of have those those theories with music some of them get real crazy that one I like though so anyway after his battle with Drake after his huge hit not like us watch the party dies more of a sobering look at the rap game and the culture as a whole um you know Kendrick call out rappers execs personalities radio personalities influencers you know who push propaganda and just harmful messages through the music he also called out dudes in the street you know right he said you know people who take innocent lives um people who just overall attempt to cause dissension within the culture and as opposed to the people who who want to build something who want to push you know culture forward who want to leave something for future Generations um he also shouted out rappers D1 and lrae shout out to D1 and lrae um you know he said I wonder what lrae would do [ __ ] up but show them what prayer do you know what I'm saying um well what did lrae do I wonder what L do what what did lrae do lrae dropped the song of his own why would it he dropped the song of his own in response to Kendricks instead of the black Air Forces under cover lrae put some beat up white ups on on his forces some white uptowns yes I'm from New York we call them uptowns still but he he he put some white on whites on the cover but they was a little beat up I you know I get it first when I looked at it I'm like n the C like d them them them them white on whites got to be Immaculate the black forces get beat up the white on whes got to be Immaculate but you know I think dramatically why he made him a little dirty fits with the theme of what he was doing in the record um so for those who don't know some may not be familiar lrae is a rapper from Houston um he's a faith based rapper um you know Christian rapper um if you will um I I always like to use the term faith-based man he puts his faith in his music um he's a four time Grand Award winner you know and his music wrongs around his Christian beliefs I first heard lrae um on static selector population control album in 2011 static selector was the first one to put me on to L he was like I think it was like right before his album dropped because stat um would send me stuff or I would go to his crib or studio and hear stuff before it Dro and he was like man yo you got you got to be up on L CR um and I ended up interviewing him a few times back in the day in MTV I had him up at genius in 2017 to break down his song Blessings talented dude for real he could really spit I haven't really seen or spoken to him in years um you know but the respect is there it's not like he and I have like this tight relationship or anything like that I always like to kind of disclose what the history so when yall hear me talk or when yall hear me say things you know where I'm coming from or what the history or what the context was but um somebody who I've interviewed years ago and and who I respect um so 2012 kendri Lamar you know got a relationship with lrae too he didn't just like mention his name out of nowhere in 2012 Kendrick had a cameo in lra's church clo video see the still right there and then during a recent interview with Jay Hill shout out to J Hill man I see J Hill all the time I don't know him personally we just started following each other on social media but J Hill um works a lot with my man wayo and they're always arguing back and forth and um I almost never agree with Jill stance on anything but I do respect the brother um I like what he's doing man um I like just seeing him out there but a recent interview with Jay Hill maybe about 10 days ago like a week and a half ago lrae weighed in on Kendrick versus Drake and he said ghost rid is aside he's a great rapper but Drake is a fan of the culture Kendrick is a product of the culture and it's a difference um so even that you know if that Jay Hill interview was about a week and a half ago you know makes me kind of think this Kendrick song is is is a fresh record I I don't know when Kendrick recorded it but maybe the wonder what lrae would do part is is is very fresh you know maybe a week and a half old so I mean we'll see though we don't know that's just speculation but so you know that that's some background on L CR right so he starts off his joint with I was wrestling like should I write a verse the culture got enough clout chasing vultures out here trying to prove their worth they need attention they can't imagine me not trying to make myself look bigger off this Kendrick mention I can't imagine his position before I got on my mission I was a party victim so right off the the the gate right like it begs the question is it clout chasing right you know I wrestle he's wrestling like should I write a verse like like cuz it's a part of him that thinks he he could like internet reaction backlash the culture got enough clout chasing vultures out here trying to prove they worth so is it clout chasing that lrae did this response I'm old enough enough um to remember when Wayne Dropped A Millie and there was 150 different A Millie freestyles on The Hip Hop blogs 200 250 I don't know it was a lot it was a ton of different ail freestyles on the hip-hop blogs everybody jumped on that beat that was a thing to do especially in the blog era where it was super DYI everybody had access to upload some stuff um we we would get records and then you would hear 20 freestyles 25 freestyles you know whatever when Kendrick dropped control there was a lot of freestyles but to me ail is the epitome of that ailly was the height of when ailly dropped everybody had an ail freestyle that happens less these days um there's a stigma to it um but my take has always been this if you're a dope MC and if you have something to say if you have something to add to the conversation if you have a perspective to offer and go ahead it's hip-hop like like we ain't got to be ashamed cuz cuz we trying to rap like like if you got that beat and and you could deliver something that makes us stop and say oh that was fire that's adding on that's taking Kendrick's idea and furthering it it's okay for me it's okay that's part of it do mentioned him in the verse and lrae know he could spit lrae knows he has respect go off go off um you know now there's going to be a lot of people who who probably Dro freestyles to this who don't got nothing to add it's a good SEO it's a good way to get people to pay attention and I get it that happens too but we'll just have to separate you know the ones we like the quality from the ones we don't um speaking of quality I want to shout out Ransom he dropped out a he dropped um black forces on his IG Ransom super dope MC I I had made a uh IG short I might make a long thing about it too because it's it's an amazing verse but he just dropped an album with Von and Conway the machine and they have a song called midlife crisis where Ransom is talking about hip hop at 50 years like like it's kind kind of a letter to Hip Hop at 50 years I thought that was a dope verse um I did a video of that on my Ig if you want to go check it out R Markman but shout out to Ransom Ransom is super dope so he dropped his black forces freestyle on IG um also want to shout out Anton now 16y old MC from Florida he he's like he's a kid but he got like a old soul man um he dropped his Kendrick freestyle the same night like it was like maybe two hours after dot dropped his I looked online and I saw Anton now dropped his it's Anon now a n t o n n o w um and it was a refreshing take on it too just from a young kid perspective he you know he was just kind of going off full disclosure because you know I'm always honest with y'all and context me and my team sign Anton now to genius Dro we have genius Dro so Anon has been signed for a few months now um but I had nothing to do with that freestyle genius had nothing to do with that freestyle my team had nothing to do with that freestyle we looked up and he just did it on his own it wasn't like a thing that we told him to do this kid is his own person he heard the [ __ ] was moved Loop that beat up and and and dropped the verse so he just did it real quick so I just wanted to shout out him I want to shout out ran those were two black forces freestyles that I saw that was dope watch the party die freestyles um and I'mma put links to Ran's joint to Anton's joint lra's joint in the description if y'all want to check it out but let's get back to lrae um so yeah go off like lrae starts off with a question I was wrest wrestling should I write a verse like he like like I like that like he he put his mind frame in the first line of of of his why of am I doing this and you know the culture has enough clout chasing vultures out here he didn't want to be another one but l c got something to say man um I also like the part of that first section where he's like before I got on my mission I was a party victim um you know I don't care who you are well off FL I spoke about this when I was breaking down Kendrick's verse for this song in maybe two videos ago my aim in hip-hop is always to add on it's always to shed light in a positive way um through all my positions I held at any of the places that I worked in Med media that's always been my aim and I've done a dope job the past 20 years [ __ ] that I'm one of the illst to do it let's just be real but there have been moments when I fell short there's been moments when I've been on some [ __ ] there's been moments you know talked about being that genius and maybe you know we had artists there who who didn't have the best message or the best intention but it got a lot of views cuz it's a business too like you know so my my track record is way more good than bad but if I'm being real if I'm looking in the mirror um it hasn't been perfect it hasn't been spotless it hasn't been Flawless um and and this brings me to the CR line before I got on my mission I was a party victim none none of us or without flaw you know what I'm saying and and that's what I like about lra's music it's not like preaching like holier than thou you know what I'm saying or or something like he he's in it too yo before my mission I was a party victim I get it you know watch the party die I was a party victim I get it you know what I'm saying I've been through some [ __ ] and lra has talked about his his trials and tribulations um you know and I like the word play right I bought the party favors I use my trauma single Mama to justify commas to pay the devil's wages that probably went over their heads basically what I said I was government fed bread for doing time in the feds but Jesus bled government fed and then following that up with bread just the double meaning like obviously he means bread like breeding like I I was bred for doing time in the feds you know talking about the social conditions that um black people in this country are put under so I was bred for doing time in the Fed but government fed bread the double meaning I thought that was Ill and then going from the word player bread for doing time in the feds but Jesus bled so the bread and the wine the body and the blood of Christ you know what I'm saying um you know just the very simple belief that that Jesus died for our sins also right Jesus blood um so it's just dope word play right like he's obviously putting scripture in there he's putting his beliefs in there but the word play is dope like you can't front on lrae as an MC no matter what your belief may be um again my cut rth over with nonsense you know you know it's just being accountable right my cut runthe they burn their conscience I want the dealers head who gave my cousin Fen all labels exploiting rap rapping addicts man I'm sick of y'all labels explain and rapping addicts man I'm sick of y'all um then he starts adding on to what do was saying right but from his perspective you you want me to put you on but I know you still scamming a crooked Docker took advantage and hooked me on Xanax as killer sitting in they cell for taking somebody innocent and they don't feel no remorse the worst ignorance you know now lra spoken up before about his drug addiction in the past um so you know that's his trials and tribulations right that's that that's his you know um you you know before I got on my mission I was a party victim you know so and then the killer sitting in their cell asking killer sitting in they self and taking somebody innocent they don't feel no remorse goes right into the dotline that we even kill the killers cuz they taking innocent lives so this is truly a response you know what I'm saying and and inspired like it's so connected to What DOT was saying um goes on and he challenges himself you know the the notion is that we're all inherently Sinners right right this part was dope too and and this part well I I'll go over this part and then I'll talk about it but he says but when I take a look in the mirror the blood of your is on my hands cuz I'm that killer who had bassador in his Corners I'm that silence who let Eve taste the fruit of death I'm that sinner I deserve death along with these liars and hypocrites fake tough rappers who fabricate their predicaments fake deep Google pushing voodoo on the people telling folks that my God ain't real that's the real evil you know what I'm saying um messaging the word play here is strong it's dope how he omits the N word right you know who had bassador his court is I'm that who let Eve taste the fruit of death I'm that sinner the N word goes there like that that's where he was going at but he uses that silence you remember in the dot joint we talked about how silence is powerful how how sometimes what you don't say is more powerful than what you do say so obviously the CR is not going to put that out there but he uses that silent space the same way do did when do was like sometimes I wonder what lra do [ __ ] is up or showing what prayer do I want to be empathetic my heart like D1 but I will and you can just imagine what Kendrick said there maybe the most heinous thing and he just left it out so you know lra uses that same kind of poetic twist but in his own way so once again lyrical very intentional is connected to what the original was then he goes on to to answer the question right I wonder what lra do hopefully seek the hand of God and tell him that he's incapable but truthfully I'm nobody to judge my good deeds are like some Peri of blood stains on the dirty rug all that I can offer him is Jesus love I honestly you know don't listen to a lot of Christian music or faith-based music I'm a Catholic in practice but I can't tell you that I know all the scripture intimately or nothing like that right so I'm I send up here pretending but I think the stigma The Stereotype is that Christian music or any kind of faith-based music comes off as preachy and some of that stereotype is real some of it also comes from our own insecurities when we listen you know what I'm saying like anything that kind of challenges us to look in the mirror there's an insecure insecurity about that if we're not ready to face it so you know it's a double-edged sword I say all that to say to me lrae has never come off like that lrae has never come off judgy to me he's never come off holier than now now he's strong in his faith he's unwavering um in his message he knows who he is but I never ever felt like he looked down on me as as a listener when I listen to his music I never felt judged I never felt you know what I'm saying and you know I I think that's that's within the verse like he puts that kind of compassion in his verse he's he's talking his message he's talking that talk but but it's not like like he's in it with us it's not like he's separate from the things that we go through cuz he's going through it too and I think that's the power of lra I think that's the power of this verse um he ends off with I walk through the valleys full of evil I'm aware of it I can't condemn the world and burn all the Heretics love is patience so I'm trusting in the narrative and Christ ain't watched the part he died he died instead instead of it um again the the the notion and the feeling that that that Christ you know died died for our sins pretty good verse pretty good verse out to lrae and you know I think it's interesting you know I talked about lrae as you know Christian rapper faith-based rapper and and he is um Kendrick is a lot too faith-based Kendrick F no Kendrick put so much of his faith in music um I I I don't he's not regarded the same as as um lrae his Kendrick um if we're putting it in categories um secular music but man Kendrick talks to God a lot in his music talks about God a lot in his music talks about spirituality a lot in his music talks about faith a lot in his music um they're not that different it's not that different um so I thought this was dope again I you know I want I want to hear from y'all what did y'all think obviously you know lra asked the very important question right right like basically he asked at the beginning of the verse am I clout chasing for doing this is this a clout Chase nah man this you getting your [ __ ] off man go get your [ __ ] off you deserve it um you know he deserves the moment lra put on a lot of good work he deserves these moments so that's just my feelings that's just my thoughts like subscribe comment let's talk about it all right till the next time PE
