The Scho Bro Show: Breaking down the Steelers first depth chart

[Music] we go to just chill out [Music] [Applause] [Music] man Pittsburgh Steeler fans welcome back to another episode of the scob Bro show this is steel Kurt Network Ed day scoffield coming at you Tuesday night just after after 900 P PM Steelers have a preseason game this week where else would you rather be and with me as always except when he's not as my big brother Rich who's doing double duties as he filled in last night on The Hangover so you get to get a lot of big Brosco how's it going we want football we want football well it's excited this week is huge yeah I I am cuz actually brought up to Daniel J last night it was funny I was driving to work yesterday and just realized that we are in a week where we're going to have football and then I thought well wow football's here that means fall is here of course if fall is here that means Bose season is right around the corner I mean life is good you and I have completely different priorities uh I'm sure I started off the same way about oh Steelers football's here oh that means the Fall's here and you know what I did then right right then this was yesterday I went looked up when does the pumpkin flavoring come back to Dunkin [Laughter] Donuts I my pumpkin Donuts again and I'm pretty sure it's August 28th last year was August 16th this year it's August 28th um it just goes to show our difference in thoughts but uh there's a lot going on a lot to you hey sorry you guys have heard a lot from me if you listen to our Audio Only podcasts well even if you don't I filled in for uh for Jeremy bets the Q&A Sunday night I had Cory eckenroth on had a great time Richfield in for Shannon white with um with Daniel Jay on The Hangover but you also got two sourced podcast for myself and Jeff Hartman today um it was one it was one thing about the the Brandon iuk situation then another one I will encourage you to go listen to those if you didn't already we will touch on them because we're going to touch on a a number of different things with the news as we go through the most recent news with the Steelers because this came oh what was this about 6:30ish Pittsburgh Standard time or so I was just sitting down had a nice warm venison steak in front of me and then had to do the article and then it end up being cold and you're worried about pumpkin spice see you should be worried about B season 2 SP I don't have a place to bow hunt so I don't have the same luxury um so that's the depth chart we got the Steelers first depth chart so we're going to go through it give some opinions on some things look at it position by position and as we look at those position we're going to talk about about news now one thing I want to say first about Friday's game because this is something that won't necessarily come up during looking at the depth chart and that is this here in the Mid-Atlantic we are scheduled to get rain lots of rain I'm pretty sure I mean we're supposed to get rain for like the next three days uh Wednesday Thursday Friday with Friday being a lot I know Friday in my area the forecast is one to two inches of rain I know up your way Rich it's over an inch of rain but for Pittsburgh I think is just far enough North it's a half an inch of rain so not as bad but that's still a lot of rain so that's going to be interesting to see how this plays out with the Steelers and their preseason game I know some people are saying oh they even going to get it all in this is rain this is not storms this is rain it's not supposed to be thunder and lightning just rain yeah so your wife and rain but honest take the rain actually no look if if if you want to you know if I try to read between the lines on the forecast at least from the weather ch Channel right now they are saying yes cloudy with peri periods of rain during the day high of 82 winds East Northeast shift to Northwest chance of rain 80% yes rainfall near a half an inch but if you go to Friday night says partly cloudy sky is low 64 so I don't know that it's going to be raining yes by game time because game time should be 7 right yes 7 o' 7:00 yeah so 7 o' game time might be through with the rain by that point in time now doesn't mean you're still not going to have a wet field and things like that but at least you're not going to be sitting in the rain exactly exactly and I'm sorry I'm trying to flip some things around here because my headphones just cut out on me so I'm still trying to hear you um you're still there though right don't do that to me not in one ear just not the other I think I got it short uh time for another $10 pair of headphones so uh if wait a minute signal it's because I can't hear anything hold on I'm looking afon are you going to the game Aton and Kathy I do believe are both going to the game they're supposed to go to Camp Thursday and the game Friday a afon um Miss big bro will be there again but I'm not going with her this time it will be my daughter Alex go so but last year you know last year I got lucky cuz I wore the bright yellow scn shirt and Aton and Kathy were able to pick me out after the game yeah because that's her picture there for and she says she's packing my Ponch in a large trash sack just in case you know what I take a Pon of the Disposable one so it rains you put it on it stops raining you tear it off to in the trash starts raining again you put on a new one so that's just that's just how it works so let's dive into this depth chart bro so just warning people okay it shouldn't be something that like what happened with the Hall of Fame game where they end up calling the game because of storms um it's not supposed to storm it's just supposed to rain so for those of you that have looked at the forecast that should be a little bit helpful all right we are we are looking at this depth chart Rich we're going to start with the offense where do you want to start we're going to start with the offense hold on cuz I'm sitting on defense where on the offense where do you think well where do you think you should start when you start with the offense start at obvious start but I was giv you the opportunity to to to to have some good inut here since when since when do you care what I think all right Rich so were you really surprised at all by the quarterback depth chart no not at all it's where it should be yeah it's exactly what it should be it's where it's where it should be look and look some folks have said hey Justin Fields getting a lot of reps because Russell Wilson with the calf thing and going on no Russell Wilson's the starter I just look at it as being so advantageous to the fact that Justin Fields has had an increase in snaps during Camp that's just a good thing does that mean I think he should be over top of Russell Wilson right now no it does not so it's right where I expected it to be yeah and it it's where it should be and it wasn't surprising I know for a long time I said oh let's see if John rice ponle could could sneak because of them having maybe return kicks and if they're working him anywhere else if he could sneak in as the number three really I don't care I mean and Kyle Allen has has been fine so far for the Steelers um I'm not even really worried about that but I there is something I'm going to say about this because if you if you if you watched or listened to the Q&A on Sunday we kind of had people using the Super Chat feature that I really wish I didn't have to bring up their comments because I I also want to say this to those of you that are here and in the live chat now that uh the one thing about the Q&A that gets me is you get so so far behind because of questions you aren't up to date with what's going on and there was a completely different person that was coming in and being uh very trolling and then even very threatening in in the live chat and I'm I wanted to apologize everyone that I'm sorry I didn't see it at the time I actually tried to take some actions to about that account after the show was done so for those of you that were here and had to deal with that I'm sorry but there was someone else who kept dropping in some super chats and I'll just say this much and people people that that were either there live or listen to it later on any of our platforms will know exactly what I'm talking about I'll just say Rich wake up because there are some people that are like this is all about Justin Fields they're Russell Wilson's fine and they're not playing him that's because Fields is going to be the guy and I'm like your thinking's exactly wrong it's it's the exact OPP 180 where it from where it should be yeah y the fact that they're not playing Russell Wilson tells you he's the starter because think about it this way a what is it was it I can't remember if it's seven or nine I know it's an odd number and I always mess up I I'll just say seven sorry if I shorted you too Russ Time pro bowler and Super Bowl champion comes to your team taking the league minimum because they're getting paid anyway and they choose you do you honestly think you're going to have somebody else be the starting quarterback while forcing you to be on the sidelines and not even let you fight for it because they're saving you from a very minor injury no freaking way no way no way never no way never absolutely ever ever okay so that's not going to happen the fact that the Steelers aren't forcing Russell Wilson out there more shows you how entrenched he is at the starter because if he wasn't entrenched as the starter then he would be he would be allowed the opportunity to fight for the position yep so exactly that's why Russ is the number one and this is great that Justin Fields is getting work this is great that he's progressing in ways and improving in areas that the Steelers really wanted him to improve like Jeff and I talked about the whole thing of of checking out of checking out of the play uh for the right reasons and things of that nature and you're like was that really a big deal well to the Steelers it was because it was something they were looking for and then he did it so those are so that's uh that that's really good stuff we've got five dingo dollars we gotta go ahead and bring it up we love us some good old dingo dollars so Marky keeps supporting us at Steelers Nation in Australia depth chart is who we thought it would be and we let him off the hook you either you you got to do one or two things there Dave you either have to read it like Denny green or you have to read it with your Australian accent one or the other you can't just read it but I thought well Jeff said the only way you could say an Australian accent is to say Jennifer Lopez but to me I can only do one word for an Australian accent right okay that that's it so yeah come that's not a knife yeah there what you can do um so I don't need they are who we thought they were and we let them off the hook exactly let him off the hook we'll give it to you so um to the quarterback position they are who we thought they were anything else about quarterbacks going on Russ should say some of Russ participated More Today by far than he had he did seven shots for the first time him and Justin Fields rotated back and forth then they gave Kyle Allen One Snap and then Russ finished off so it was I I think it was was it maybe four and two and one might have been the breakdown but Russ had four they scored on three of them his only pass was a nice pass to picking on seven shots he was doing other stuff in teamwork so much more work than he has before now there's a mean he'll play Friday it's a wet field I don't know if they'll do it I use an excuse I say if it's a if it's a wet field I'd hold I I'd hold him out I really would um because if he's got the calf there's no reason to even risk it if they if they don't feel they need to see anything ex you're exactly right and again like I said what does that do more snaps to the other guys is not a bad thing so exactly exactly more more snaps for for other guys there is good so and we do also know that the that the Texans are planning on playing their starters now if it's crappy field conditions they could change their mind and I would lame them yes they could so so there we go so we got quarterback let's go running back okay okay Nai Harris Jaylen Warren one two exactly what we expected well the problem is they've got five teams and five more people so they've got two third stringers and Cordo Patterson who is yet to practice because he's still on the non-f football inry list and L Michel pide then in then fourth on the dep chart they have Jonathan Ward and deun Edwards and then fifth they have Aaron Shin oh sorry shamp there's an L in there gotta make sure I try to say that right there is sorry about that um I've only heard pretty good things from all the running backs are you surprised that Patterson's that high not playing or is that just telling you hey we we we know where where we are that's he's a veteran guy you know you know what he brings to the table that's what it that's all that is yeah yep and it's not like I mean I don't think anyone was expecting jayren to be ahead of nji Harris it just wasn't going to be the way they do it um but to throw in there with it they do have fullback listed and they have Conor Hayward listed first and Jack ketto second yeah interesting well to me that's because Conor hayward's been around yeah probably when they actually line up as a fullback who's it been from everything that we've heard from training camp it's been ketto it's been K so but to me I'm not super worried about that because it's not like Keta would be making the roster in place of Connor Hayward it would be an addition to because I think Connor hayward's still more as the as the tight end HB kind of role I don't think they really play the same position when it all comes down to it so to me kto whether they keep him as a fullback or not he's making a case but he's gonna have to make make some uh noise showing he can do special team so all right we good there we we we ready to roll yep keep going TI I'm good no nothing nothing surprising in there tight ends yeah another place where you know the Steelers have plenty of them on the roster why don't you go ahead and read him this time all right list out number one no surprise to anybody Pat farmouth of course not much surprise uh in the second team there with Mount Washington uh Connor Hayward in in at third so really no no surprise in those top three that's where they finished out last year then you get to the fourth team and we list two and that would be Michael puit and uh Rodney Williams um who is back with then recent who is back in practice and then recently brought in there Matt Matt suul as the fifth one um I'll tell you what I really expect you know that that battle at four is a real battle Yeah and I like that they just put them there I like that yeah yep fine with that but you know that battle is a real battle because let me tell you what I mean the Steelers you talk about a position where they are deep right now that is what that is that is one where they are very deep yeah um yeah there are teams that you know if the Steelers had to try to put Rodney Williams on waivers to get him to the practice squad there would be teams that would snag him up proper especially after you saw what he did on special teams last year with Steelers I mean remember he started off on the practice squad with Steelers and then he got brought up correct yeah yes yes but you know and so they were lucky so much that even when Pat fouth came back Not only was he still in the 53 he was still getting a helmet every game that's impressive yes yeah it's very impressive so you know honestly offensively to me even though they have more running backs in Camp tight end is their deep position yeah in my opinion uh just I mean that is a deep deep room yeah yeah and somewhere where they're not as deep we would move on to wide receiver yep uh we'll have a good bit of talk here okay I'll go ahead and do these well they there's three of them listed with the first team second team third team well four team they don't go to they don't have enough to fill in all all three spots but the first team was was um I'm not reading these necessarily in order I'm reading it from where they have one at the top and two at the bottom so don't take it that way well actually the order is would be the the one at the top would be the I'm trying which Y which one yeah yeah so that would be your number one would be the bottom your number two would be the top and your number three would be the the next to the bottom if you're looking at steelers.com yeah the the next to the bottom right cuz that's the next to the bottom on the yep it goes goes outside slot outside yes so it's George Pickins van Jefferson Calvin Austin the third is your first team then it's quz Watkins Dez Fitzpatrick and Roman Wilson is your second team I mean that's already six so you're got to be like they really going keep with six what's interesting is that you don't get to Scotty Miller till the third team where it's jakc jaob Copeland sorry Jacob Copeland jeray Jenkins and Scotty Miller as your third team and then your fourth team is Tariq black and dece wz so to me the thing that stands out the most is how far down Scotty Miller was yeah yep yeah so but I'm not surprised by stuff by the W people like oh re what well first of all he's injured and he's a rookie so he's an injured rookie that hasn't had a chance to move up any higher to to think that he's going to be a first team guy right now isn't wise I don't think people would argue with that nope so that's where he should be yes so the big thing about the wide receiver position is we at least got to mention what's going on with the news I said about the source podcast that Jeff and I did two of them today everything going on with everyone up in arms um about BR and iuk and what's going on there our source told us around midday that the Steelers themsel they weren't they weren't told they were out they themselves said they were out now as I said on that podcast that doesn't mean that they can't be brought back in but when a team says we're out that means they're not going to be coming back to you unless something changes or you could go try to pull them back in that's kind of the stuff that we were talking about um not going to go into too much detail about exactly how all that is like I said would adding another wide receiver make the make the Steelers better yes is trading away another player along with that something that would make them better it depends on the player and how deep the Steelers are at those at that position I mean my goodness some people are like the only way they're going to do it is they trade George Pickins why would you trade Brandon iuk for George Pickins I don't get that that would make sense I mean but there's so many theories and stuff going out there in social media so don't take you have to take any because names that have been float around that would go back in in in a trade has been George Pickins Calin auson third but that's more Steelers fan saying that's what they should take that's not as much as what they're doing I mean any of the receivers basically I've even heard Roman Wilson um more seriously I heard James Daniels some people were saying Dan more Jr but then the 49ers and were like why would fans are like why would they take them and it's all just speculation it's all nothing but speculation but my thing is because I'll ask you this Rich because I I said when it really comes down to IU and I know I I've seen people like the Steelers just need to give up whatever they have to do to get it done well first of all are you g to come in and make him your highest paid player higher than TJ Watt and cam Hayward and all those other guys do you really want to do that that's a good question but what I'm gonna ask you is are the Steelers a wide receiver away from the Super Bowl no a wide receiver does not get them to the Super Bowl if that's the one thing that they were Miss I mean definitely a wide receiver makes them a better team sure but if you don't get this right and you give up too much you could be talking about other problems right yeah you could actually be setting you you could actually set the club back you know five six seven years by doing the wrong deal yeah um and that's both in what you give the 49ers and what you pay the receiver you could set you could set the franchise back a long way yeah um so I'm at least happy to hear that it sounds like the Steelers are being careful yeah that that's that's what I would say over this whole thing dud you know would I be sad if Brandon iuk was a Steeler no it's not like I would say that I wouldn't want the guy to wear black and gold but it's it's got to be right and I want the Steelers to be careful yeah well I'm going to bring up a a something in the live chat here in just a second but first I wanted to say because I I heard some of the discussion is well if the Steelers might as well use their one because if not they're probably going to have to use it on a wide receiver next year I get it you and there's no guarantee that they would be that good but here's the other thing thing you would have that other if you did use a one on a wide receiver next year you would have them under contract at a much much lower rate for four and even five seasons yep all you know that's question and that money could go to and that money could go to keep George Pickins yeah and there are plenty of people saying oh well shouldn't the Steelers figure out exactly what they're going to be doing at quarterback back um this year and Beyond before they really get into tying up that kind of commitment at the wide receiver I get that thinking as well there's a lot of thinking back back and forth but here Brian Mizell on Facebook said auk has leverage didn't he say he wanted to play here yes he did this is one of the places he say he wanted to play he does have a no trade clause uh with the way that all goes down but does he really have leverage the 49ers can say no we can't work out a deal with it correct yeah 49ers could say nope sorry can't work it out you're under contract here you're here the 49ers have complete control the question is how much do they want to deal with the distraction yep because if he wants to sit out then then he sits out so you didn't gain anything else this year no but if you weren't going to have him otherwise and you know what it's not like Levon Bell who was playing on the on the franchise tag he would he would still have he would his that's the last year of his contract it would toll you know it would go to the next year he'd still be under that that same contract with with the 49ers for next year if they chose to do that so and then they could use the franchise tag over and over they they could they could con he could they could control him for three more years and he would have no say in really other than not playing and making any money so yeah you could say he wants to go there and we've seen how that's worked out for guys yes okay um so and there's there's various ways of thinking either way I'm not like I'm not sold on the idea of selling out for it but remember I wasn't sold on the idea of Justin Fields but I didn't want Justin Fields matched up with Kenny picket I didn't want the two of them once Kenny P once it was Russell Wilson and Kenny picket was out of the picture I was like if they can get a get the right deal I just didn't want him to give up very much and you know what they didn't that's why I loved it but I didn't think the Steels were like that so it's that there's so much involved with this that we don't know the details of to really know if it's a good idea or not I mean my goodness if you could get if if something happens where it would be a lower contract to play in Pittsburgh and it would be not as generally what we thought it would be to to get him then it's a whole different story but right now this is this is both a player and his team playing each other and using other teams and other things going on to play each other to try to get what's best for all of them so there we talked about that more than I wanted to you good van Jefferson huh is Van Jefferson what is having quite a camp yeah he's having a good camp so honestly if the Steelers roll with him as your number two which is what it looks like on the dep chart right now look if he continues the production like he's been in Camp so far I have no problem with it especially because we really expect George Pickins to get the majority of the targets at wide receiver yeah yeah now but are you not but am I saying that another wide receiver couldn't even make them even better yeah they could so yeah but honestly for now it kind of is what it is so yeah let's just see so here we go um one more thing on the offense before we take our break it's going to take a little bit because it's the offensive line okay let's start outside and work our way in you ready let's go tackles I think it's important to look at T to look at not just one side to look at both sides okay tackles on the left side I think this is very interesting that the left side goes Dan more Jr Troy fanu and the right side goes bradi Jones Dylan cook Dey Hamilton yes the thing that's that that's interesting for me is they don't have fanu as on the right side they have him as the backup on the left I mean they could have put guys names on here twice you know they they could have but it's almost like they did that to mess with us because you know what Troy fanu has he taken one snap at left tackle in training I don't think so I don't think so he's Tak very snap at right tackle and bradrick Jones has taking Snaps at left tackle so honestly you could put you could put second team honestly second team you could put well part of that too is the Steelers don't want to put too much out there because they don't want to they don't want to hurt some of the guys on the team cuz how would it look if if the second team was brri Jones at left tackle and Troy five tanu at right tackle well basically that would be putting you know way too obvious to Dan Moore Junior that they're looking to replace you yeah well I'm going to bring this up I was going to say it I didn't want to I didn't want to interrupt you because I was going to say the cut and past component might have been the cut and past component because Jared devil said it sorry Sherry he got his in first said it's another clerical error because Sher put it on Facebook too um yeah it's one of those things it's almost like did they mean to do that but it really doesn't matter it really doesn't if anything that should go to show you that tackles should be interchangeable more if you're better so uh I just I just found that interesting that they put fogu is the back up on the left side when he has to take a single St there yeah okay so let's go do it if he could do it he could do it yep guards let's go to guard okay left guard is Isaac Sam Al guard James Daniels second team no surprise left guard Spencer Anderson Right Guard Mason mccormic then the third team it it's left guard Joey fiser Right Guard Tyler Beach okay yeah as the tackle so but they have him at guard which is fine you get hard to tell with offensive line but what I find interesting here is really who's your next who's your backup guard well it all depends on where Nate herbick is when it comes to Center you know correct he could be gu yeah so it is what it is and I'm not surprised that it's hering over I'm really not no ien said that this is the depth Dave we're still this is the depth this is the depth chart as of August the 6 at 6:30 p.m. yes by next Monday this depth chart could look different and Mike Tomlin always says don't put too much into it we have to do something blah blah blah so but it it it's not that it still doesn't tell us some things like I'm sorry I already kind of spoiled it so I'll go to center it goes herig Frasier McCullum Anderson or Anderson Hardy um is the fourth guy so that's the order there which doesn't surprise you so what's interesting is if Zack Frasier moves ahead of herbig do they still list herbig as at Center or do they move him to guard it's hard which is it doesn't really matter because all these things could be a little bit more interchangeable yeah cuz honestly herbing could play either guard or either of the Guard positions or Center he play all yeah and here's another thing if you would have asked me a week ago which you might have even done it I can't remember if I thought it Frasier would be ready to start week one if I had I if I had to to bet on it right then I would have said no but here we are a week later and now I've been hearing more things about him now I'm more inclined to say yes that's how things change that's how much things change yes and that's even without a preseason game so all right well we ran over a little bit in the first half I'm not surprised because we had some of our news sprinkled in there we'll probably get through this defensive depth chart a little bit faster because there's there's not a lot of questions yeah because there's no news anything else you want to say about the offense as a whole before we through this depth chart Rich Let's go to the defense here we are you ready you want can we start on the defensive line yes let's start on the defensive line we'll go we'll go forward to forward to backwards kind of the opposite of what we were doing uh on the offense but the defensive line now remember they list three positions they list defensive tackle nose tackle defensive end that's just the way they list it yeah that's the way is it but it's not but we we know it's the three positions in the base 3 four yes and technically one of one side because of the strength would be more apt to line up a little bit wider that makes them the defensive end rather than the defensive tackle blah blah blah just that's but it is what it is it's semantics yes but the three are cam Hayward Larry oen Jobe and at nose tackle keano bton exactly as it should be right exactly where you would expect it to be okay second team de Marvin Leal Dean Lowry mon travus Adams is no tackle so Dean low who's still on the pup list lands on the second team to me this is telling that's where they put the veteran even without him taking the field gets yep so remember that third team is Isaiah Loudermilk Logan Lee with Braden foko as the nose tackle and then fourth team you got left um Willington Previn and Jacob Slade so what at any level that anything jump out to you the most there Rich um honestly no not really other than the thing with the Lowry but it it still doesn't surprise me that much that on the first one it would look like this at all there is something that I think we can take away from this you know and I think I know what you're gonna say go ahead and say it it might not be what most people would would say right away but it's that they're at the same position and the Marvin Le was listed ahead of Isaiah lder that's exactly where I thought you'd go yes yep and the fact that the Marvin Le they put him at tackle which versus end I would think he would be more of an but really it doesn't matter because he's much more of a step on to it than he a cam with if you think about it that's how I differentiate those two positions so the fact that it is lout who has been having a good camp he was there ahead of Loudermilk I think that that is what as it should be because at the end of last year he was not all right anything else yes no I am okay with that no reason to no reason to beat on that too hard because I like I said nothing nothing out of the ordinary yeah so let's go ahead and hit the outside linebackers your first team is TJ Watt and Alex High Smith no surprise no surprise your second team is Jeremiah Moon and Nick kbig maybe a little bit of a surprise there third team is tyon Johnson and Marcus golden and then Julius wof or is it scoff cuz that h f we pronounce it was scoff or scoff maybe it's well scof maybe it's more like us yeah so the big thing that I think that stood out to people was Moon being second team over Marcus gold oh except golden was just getting on the field yes late you know I think it's moreon Johnson so that's really who it comes down to then so to me if they would keep five that would tell me moon is in the question is the four is it going to be moon or golden and I originally said I didn't think they'd bring back golden because of the special team stuff but remember at the time they were having problems last year with not enough special teamers they were having inside linebackers coming in off the couch and that they're getting for the places that weren't special teamers so they had too many of those type of players maybe they can get by with it this year or maybe with it not having to run 30 yards downfield before you get to where you would be on a kickoff maybe maybe that's more in Golden's wheelhouse we'll see if he's used on the on the kickoff or anything like that other than that I didn't really have anything more about the outside linebacker I just thought that was between Golden Moon and Johnson how they all fell out I thought was interesting yes you that was the was the part to highlight yeah we could mention that Alex iith was listed as you know having a bit of a groin issue today practice you know what that tells me he ain't playing Friday more than likely especially on field TJ will play will play Friday and they have I doubt it yeah yep so and I'm fine with that especially with the other guys that they have there I mean they got six other guys right they can play so they're they're fine the line's not too short exactly we've had times when we've had short lines and then Tyler mavich then it's Mark Robinson and Cole hul who's on pup and then Tyler who was also mentioned of getting dinged up at practice today um now now you're going to bring up the fact met cavich is over Mark Robinson um actually that doesn't surprise me that doesn't surprise me well here's what I honestly Mark Robin Mark Robinson is is is playing to try to stay on this team yes in my opinion no this is what I think is more interesting I think the cut and face component is the cut and face component Paul hul should be a left inside linebacker and Mark Robinson at right because your left is is is I'm I'm not going to get into back and buck and all that stuff but your left is more of your um able to do pass coverage guy and your right is more of your run Thumper Mark Robinson is not your coverage guy compared to co hul even with hul being injured yeah so to me they might have just gone who cares about left and right it might have been number one number two number three number four number five you know what I'm saying it might have just been that yes exactly yes exactly yeah so that's the only thing that I saw that I thought was interesting um in that regard and Cole Hulk's got to be down there because I mean my goodness if you're wondering about how they said oh they reworked this deal it was for when he goes on pup or IR during the regular season he now has a split contract where the Steelers don't have to pay him his full contract but they guaranteed that contract and then that means they're holding on to him that's what that all comes down to It's No Cap savings from the way I understand it there's no cap savings now it would just be whenever he would go on that list uh when they go to 53 all right anything else about the linebackers no let's go to corner corner okay we'll do all three of them right corner Jo Jun left corner Dante Jackson nichel beanie Bishop Jr only rookie listed with the first team on offense or defense or special teams so then then you go it goes Darius Rush Corey Trice and then grayan Arnold as your second nickel then I'm I'm losing Anthony AIT um Nathan Meers um with Cam Sutton as your third nickel I think that we'll talk about that and then there's a Kyler McMichael who's listed as the fourth uh oh sorry and Thomas Graham Jr are the first are the are the um oh wait I said me he's a safety I read the wrong thing it was the 13 team was Anthony aett and Kaylin Barnes with Cam Sutton and then the 14 Tyler McMichael and Thomas Graham Jr sorry I read the wrong name so but you pronounced it correctly so that's a win there you go it's a win I'm not surprised they put cam Sutton Way further down well no because he's not going to be there for eight games you got to put him there you've got to yes exactly and it's not a knock on cam Sutton it's not a knock on cam Sutton's abilities on the field the ability that is being taken into question will be availability and he's not going to be available for the first eight games yeah that's it it's it's exactly that so and that's why you're not hearing him out there getting a lot of the only time I really heard him get some run with the ones was actually playing safety yeah or he's not even listed here um and it might have been just because they needed him speaking of safety um wait before we go there I do find it interesting it's Darius Rush Cory T were the next two um because Anthony aett or AIT I don't know if that if you pronounce this the first e in there or not he's been doing a lot his name has been coming up a lot at Camp so I I find that interesting but um anything else look I I will just say I know Shannon White is excited because beanie Bishop Jr is the only rookie listed as a starter yeah he should be because really he's he's played and earned it in Camp so far that's his spot to lose right now the way I look it yes yes you've done what you've needed so far to earn it now keep it yeah it's another one of those you know you're you're not even having to ask question of whether or not he's going to be in the 53 um I I think he's done nice job all right so then we'll hit safety here real quick first team um free safety's Minka Fitzpatrick strong safety deshaan Elliot um once again they got him backwards guess the way the way they did next year because they have miles killer Brew is the backup free safety and Damonte KZ is the backup strong safety I'm sorry I think that's the other way around and then you got Nathan meaters and Ryan Watts as your as your 1 so other than thinking that they those a little bit backwards what are thought there no no surprises there yeah none right right where you'd think it would be yeah so not really much going on with the secondary anything you want to say overall about the defense nope all right we're going to quickly hit the Special Teams you got Cameron Johnston listed not only is the punter but they they went out of their way to list him separately as the holder so there's no question there you got Christian C is the log stapper Chris Boswell as the first team kicker with Matthew Wright as the second team kicker it's the only place right now where the Steelers have more than one there um you're and they do not have the same person listed for kick returner punt returner they do have Cordo Patterson despite being on the ni Reserve n list or yeah non or NFI I said n what's that uh NFI that's what non football injury list um he's still the main kick returner with Calvin Austin the third is the pun returner to me the biggest story there is lot of surprise lots of surpris they didn't list anybody else yeah yeah no the biggest story there is Cameron Johnson's listed as the holder as well so no question about that okay well I mean I thought I mean as the season goes they'll list other people as their as their returners at times so oh yeah it but right now this is this is depth chart for what they would say if we were rolling now this is what it would look like y but you know we're going to see other guys for turning kicks probably on Friday because we're not going to see Court Daryl padon so yeah yeah we're going to give other guys an opportunity to show what they got to see what somebody else can do speaking of showing what they got guess what it's time for the big question we went through the depth chart we we hit everything I
