games in a row and they've done it and so I I agree with inconsistent but the great thing is you know that they're capable right you know that this Core Group can make it happen if Clark knocks down a much needed three in the corner well they looked at the Tiffany Hayes shot at the end of the first quarter still rolled it a two the officials saying that there wasn't uh it was not conclusive enough in some of the looks that they were getting to change it to a three so that's where we stand here at the beginning of the second quarter Izzy Harrison Off the Bench for the sky Kate Martin the Iowa product playing her first minutes of the second quarter today a few family members and friends in attendance for Martin who misses her first shot of the day out on the bench she had eight points eight rebounds and the aces didn't hit a three-pointer that first quarter [Music] Onan pump fake two on the shot clock onan's got to put it up good defense there by Chelsea Gray just oneon-one stopping the ball forcing a tough shot and then that's this is what the aces need more of scoring in transition pushing the pace can you force Chicago to stop the ball early they did not and Kelsey Plum gets easy too well we've seen Clark looking for her shot she had the long two in the corner now Plum hitting her first field goal and their first points Aces looking a lot more aggressive here to start out this second quarter taking a look at the upcoming Jefferson in and [Music] out it'll be AC's basketball Chelsea Gray one of her goals is to come back healthier she missed the first 12 games of the season that she has the size advantage over banam to get her on her backside and banam was such an important pick up in that trade because of her veteran leadership just you know understanding how to talk how to direct bring this younger team with her they're looking to post up Bantam once again though and she's picked up a couple of quick F this Las Vegas Aces team miss her Tong when she was out with a foot injury the first 12 games of the Season catch your favorite football or football games on paramont land only it's gray sinks the other free throw Chelsea was the one that told us Chicago left a bad taste in their mouth at the last loss before the Olympic break said it lingers especially when you lose on your home court there she is though intercepting a pass had to sit on that loss for about a month's time Clark is a right back to gra spinning off the defender can't get it and she's slow to get up holding the back of her head oh good hands there by Alicia Clark such a good Defender gray has it looks it off to and beautifully done beautifully executed the AC's first lead of the game 20 to9 we will take struggle 3p it's not an easy thing to do yeah one teams get better right they Scout better Kelsey Plum told us that teams have adjusted to them they're playing them a little bit differently but also this WBA season specifically I mean there are more games that teams are playing we had the Olympics and that forces a condens season so it's just been a lot of extra things that have been brought into this season on top of the fact that they this team did did not start the season off healthy Kelsey gray was missing due to an injury they were without their main point guard so they've had to go through a lot of different struggles this season but Becky Hammond totally believes that they are capable Kennedy Carter mentioned had the 34 points the last time these two teams met three points AC quiet in her standards first half for Kennedy a certainly a focus one of the best drivers and penetrators in the league here this year and Becky Hammond we know that that has been a defensive Focus for them here today have to try to put walls of bodies in front of Kennedy Baseline you're worrying about her driving past you then she puts Plum on her back nice little Fade Away beautiful shot she can heat up in a second here for the sky has proven that she can do [Music] that oh for eight from three for the aces here this afternoon norly one of the the better three three-point shooting teams in the league cross cour pass it's coming our way Rachel banam chases it down Carter hesitation looks to split the defense a hard foul on the aces side like you said Kenny Carter starting to heat up puts Kelsey Plum behind her fade away they're going to review this foul referees are looking to see a possible upgrade on the defensive foul Mitchell for a FL by Kennedy well that's thank you Emily you know with Kennedy Carter at the foul line it is important to note Carter has four points that's that's what the league calls it but essentially four flagrant points so four flagrant ones here throughout the year if she gets to five she would be suspended for one game prior to or after that game that she commits a a possible fifth flagrant one so you know flagrance upgradeable fouls or something year but we cannot stress enough about how competitive and how physical the WNBA has always been from year one absolutely another nice downhill attack harder just not able to [Music] finish Jackie young has been very quiet here in the first half good defense by vom I don't think that was the best shot the aces could have gotten in that situation here's cter thinking about taking Wilson off the bounce over to Diamond to Shields in and [Music] out Jackie Young 18th shot of the first half 18th the next person has six which is Kelsey pal it's a great Point she has taken almost she's taken basically half of the aces field goal attempts at 36 rce with another bucket and great job by ree to go up quickly as soon as she caught it she went right up to finish strong Asia to score and rebound and do everything and I thought tip Hayes has brought in some really good energy Off the Bench there with a followup and put back you can see the tenacity there I'm telling you Becky Hammond could not say enough good things about Tiffany Hayes by the way came out of retirement to play with the aces in this roster and try to win a championship here this year bam loses it A's the one directing traffic Plum young and Clark in the back court Plum will take it good aggression there offensively just quick ball movement right ball and player movement Plum caught that right off the curl able to get right downhill need to see more of that for the aces P quick pull and Reese keeps it alive for Chicago Angel Reese already with eight rebounds here today 10 seconds on the shot clock it'll stay here angel ree has talked about being a rebounder she said it's what I've always done credits the fact she can be ambidextrious Rebound with both hands Carter getss a look catching fire here in the second quarter what' she tell us today Lisa she's not playing around the second quarter on a 20-13 run to end the second Emily is with Becky Hammond all right coach you told us yesterday you wanted to get more out of your guards how do you evaluate what you're getting out of them in this first half I mean we're getting downhill we're driving we're kicking we're just not making very many shots right now um I'm happy with the defense giving up 30 and a half is not bad so we can live with that uh you just have to believe that the worm's going to turn on the shooting we're getting good looks that's what I'm concerned with and I know they'll knock it down A's gotten some good looks she gotten hit a little bit so we're we're kind of mixing in a little bit of everything thank you cook so those are things to look out for as we begin the second half [Music] up mentioned she had seven points seven of her nine in the first half coming in the second quarter so she can put up points pretty frequently and Carter now the guilty party here first personal a bit of a reach in but on the other took a one-year Hiatus Kennedy Carter did from the league and has found a new home and new opportunities here with Chicago Plum still 0 for 10 from three for the aces here today on with a miss another rebound for Wilson 11 for the day for Asia Wilson and and pl we've seen her do that a few times today forcing the issue in transition no one really stopped the ball able to use a hesitation and get right by her Defender Carter looking for it finding cardoso Rees with the offensive rebound and come back that is her BR and putter Twin Towers man one shoots them one rebound somehow they both finish six points nine rebounds for Angel Reese take beat the league in rebounding as a rookie yeah her and Asia Wilson have gone back and forth in the rebounding category the three-pointer Falls for Megan gips in one of the areas that she's improved as a pro and one of the reasons too why I like that Becky Hammond went with her to get the start today can she help spread floor a little bit another offensive weapon from deep and Megan Guston hits that first three-pointer for the aces if you have that on your bingo card here today who would get the first three Megan guson and she's open again go go for it again why not custon backto back Vegas with its largest lead of the game they have been over until someone named Megan you don't know where the momentum's going to come from Meg gusterson has only taken two shots both of those three-pointers are only points here today to put it in her perspective just her 11th and 12th three-pointers of the Season as she commits her third personal Guston has worked on her three-point shot the last few years really she's in year six so really her fourth year in the league fifth year in the league and sixth year in the league she has started to shoot a few more three-pointers and the answer on with a smile on her face and that is her third triple that she's knocked out on the Scout you have to get out and Plum fever just ahead of him in seventh place Wilson partially blocked the defense by camil this is where the sky need to score with numbers and cardoso running the floor can't pay it off PL Baseline Little shake and P that hesitation will get you every time and her hesi is so lethal and the patience right looking on the court seeing where the defense goes and then attacking too many steps there
