Aston Villa 0-2 Arsenal (Premier League) | Game Review

[Applause] [Music] [Music] here welcome to a bur Wonderland and Arsenal podast I joined by Danny and we are here to discuss the 2-n victory over Aston Villa how quick was it to get rid of that bad Omen off our back Danny we lost twice to them last season I was a little bit anxious about this game watching the first few minutes it was the first time in a while that actually started to get sort of anxious and worried about the game even though I hadn't really seen anything it's like I felt something I don't know what it was I'm just so happy that we ended up getting the result that we deserve and you know as they say Danny Champions even when they're playing bad they still win we've gone and done that today but Danny how are you I am very good I went to bed last night at 1:30 and I got out of bed today at half past 4 there you go not I didn't need one Wii CU I only had half a liter of liquid yesterday time fed up being on a diet and being like a um a water thing like a broken tap constantly full of liquids so yeah half a liter slept for 14 hours thank you very much [ __ ] you diet yeah oh God I sawn in the first minute that's not good how are you it's fine I it's fine um I've I'm good I'm good i' I've written a lot of notes and there's quite a few moments in said notes that are not happy so I wouldn't worry about it we're going to get past the swearing threshold real early but yeah Dan I'm all good been a long day today yeah been working talking all day yeah talking all day Market but uh but here we are got home in time to be able to watch the game and I I I loved every minute of it but not really um so uh we'll quickly um say hello to some people in the chat um from now on guys as I've said before from the previous game where we won 2-0 against two- nil two nil nice nice yeah uh against wolves I said that we're not going to go through um and talk to everybody like we normally do because we kind of want to condense these games to sort of half an hour 45 minutes um we don't want to do an hour an hour and a half every single week because it ends up just burning us out completely um we do this for the love of Arsenal but you know we've got we've you know we get tired we get tired we're getting old Danny we're getting old I've been and now and now you two have decided because Fatboy Slim doesn't like his music being used we're in ineligible for any kind of about a pound per show we used to make but luckily I'll du deep and I'll find myself yeah we appreciate you Danny um so yeah's say hello to some people Englishman in Canada is there what's down an hour down the M1 to Birmingham and just slap him yeah he's such a petulent child that's him and mcin I just wanted to slap them both uh Nick fights on Twitch we appreciate you everybody that watches on Twitch talk about anti football from Villa are you stoke in Disguise I couldn't have said it other I couldn't have said it better myself that's the way you say it uh Stefan Selby the game started on 65 minutes yep that's pretty much it pretty much it but yeah Alan OE Watkins is a gar you're completely correct so maybe it had a little something to do with that who knows and Tom Andrew O what's going on what's going on but get on with it I like it Englishman and Canada I like that so we'll quickly go over we'll quickly go over the lineup so the only real change Danny was quite surprising actually yurian Timber starts at left back ahead of zenchenko there was a moment where the camera goes to zenchenko after two minutes and he looks like he's just been told that Santa doesn't exist for the first time he looked absolutely we all know Santa does exist but this yes yes but what I'm saying saying is someone lied to him and said that he doesn't exist yeah so he got very upset he looked very not happy D oh completely agreed um but so what did you make of that then Danny the fact that yurian Timba um got his first no second ever start in an shirt which is mindblowing to think about but also the fact that Gabrielle Jesus has managed to get himself another little niggle there's no surprise it's the same always the same players that are always injured it's usually going to be um Jesus up F it's going to be party it's going to be Fabio viu's now gone and it's going to be the The Usual Suspects always for some reason just can't keep fit so I expect um party to report after the game that he's got a nle and he won't be starting for the next six months but make the most of him while we can um nice seeing Timber um still even though he is is Right footed isn't he Tim but I'm sure I he is right he he is right footed but he can use both feet but he is predominantly right footed um sorry yeah and he's and he's obviously nippy he's very technically gifted with the ball um but um yeah I you were saying about party I've got lots of notes Danny we'll go through it but um you're completely right I wish that we could have this party week in week out I really really do oh my God what an incredible football player when he plays well unbelievable football player you really see why Arsenal wanted him uh from athleti a few years ago it's a shame that his injury record as sort of scupp at his chances so who knows who knows he stays fit this season Danny and dominates we've had him since October 2020 and we've never had more than half a dozen games in a dozen games in a decent in a row yeah or decent number in that length but it's uh hopefully we can try and figure out what the problem is and and fix it which would be important because he he could be the key to us saving 50 million pounds yeah he stays fit and plays like this I'm not I'm not worried uh as I'm not as worried I still feel like we need depth Danny because we've got a lot of football to play we've got more Champions League football that are going to be played this season with the change of the Champions League system so there's going to be eight games it's going to be a league uh League style uh of style of football um pretty much like the Premier League but just with all the the the Champions League um entries so it's going to be completely different it's going to be eight games um played a home and away um in differently so it's going to be completely all over the place but yeah Fabio Vieira finally making the move uh back Stan was in tears last night we had to stop the show yeah he had to um kind have lay down with a hot water bottle he was he's a broken man is he stand I'm so sorry to hear that you're a Broken Man over Fabio Vieira um this is going to be nothing but good for him uh Stan be nothing but good for him let's let's send him off well and hope he does the best how we get back from if they decide to buy him five 10 maybe eight then after a year they'll sell him on for 25 again yes 100% yeah that's exactly what's gonna happen um I will say as well Danny that I need to make an announcement here about the Arsenal Away shirts they are absolutely Dreadful y ABS it's a disgusting shirt the colors have got nothing to do with Arsenal I'm I'm it's like the worst point out point out your family heritage before you say that de so we don't get cancelled oh right yeah well that's the thing yeah have to yeah yeah but I'm not even stating it from that point of view but the fact that okay if that's it's it's coming from that basis then are we goingon to go around the world so far I haven't seen much Irish t-shirts and all in green yeah yeah yeah yeah this is my point yeah I'm well up for that and we've got an Arsenal have got an incredibly uh incredibly uh Rich history of Irish players playing for the Arsenal um big name names um that have been over the years um but yeah I I I I just don't get it it's it's not a nice shirt it's really really not nice um and that's just me second time theyve done it they've done it they've gone it's to say thanks or show for the the heritage of some of the people and that's that's your family background and you don't like it so I think I'm allowed to agree with you and say I don't like it either but the the thing is if you start doing that you're going to have to start doing it for everyone otherwise you're starting to otherwise looks at nitpicking I just don't think the colors have got anything to do um with Arsenal it's got nothing if people don't know they're doing it to to celebrate the the black Heritage of Arsenal fans is there a person on the planet that doesn't love the Ajax one the tribute to Bob Marley stunning wasn't it yeah oh you can do it better than that you can you can do it yeah exactly You' absolutely nailed it you can do it better than that it's it's it's not even about the color scheme is is shocking but the design as well well is absolutely shocking I I'm I'm I I dislike it to the highest levels um I just think it's a really ugly shirt um I I love the fact that we we've done you know the old Adidas badge on the third kit which I've got this is like the first kit I've bought since 2018 2019 it's absolutely mental but there we go I digress um so we'll quickly go over the game I don't want to go too much because we'll end up having a massive rent discussion about football shirts and who really gives a [ __ ] uh so uh 10 minutes in party winning the ball and this is we already discussed with the fact that he just you know I'm gutted that he doesn't stay at that level um 15 Minutes sacka special but Martinez unfortunately gets a finger on it um have you got any point Danny if you've got a snippet for any of these moments put them up don't don't worry about it I have uh the Benny Blanco wamo I have got the Raya double save both goals and then the list predictions okay all right well hopefully hopefully I'll be able to pinpoint these moment you know the Benny Blanco wamo one I'm on about don't you he kicked the ball at him you know when we they kick the ball at our player and he back at them I I didn't see that I didn't see the retaliation I saw the the the collision between Watkins and CBA and then mcin coming over and trying to put his bum in him and then or and then kicking the ball into him as well I was like what the hell is going on here real douchebaggery and football um well said by Nick um so we got 16 minutes Martinez cheating um did you see that corner Danny where the ball was put in and Martinez just dropped like a sack of Spuds nobody touched him the referee and the referee blew I've made eight notes seventh minute early attack Nelly breaks on the left and then cross itting it was just a [ __ ] up and then 14 good chance for sacka far post Martinez touches it and it's out 15th minute Martinez deliberately Falls over backwards [ __ ] that's the not thing the thing is as well Danny they said that if V if they scored if Arsenal scored and V looked at that they'd have to give it because there's nothing on Martinez I couldn't believe it it took him you know less than less than 20 minutes to start just doing the [ __ ] howery that he does I we must have treated him so badly Danny we must have treated him so badly all those years we got him you know we had him for nine years he wasn't good enough was it nine years I think it was something like that yeah we had him for a number of years he ended up getting uh an opportunity from an injury when burnt Leno got injured by uh mop when he was playing at Brighton was he barged out yeah at midair and he landed and done his knee in yeah um and we gave him an opportunity he absolutely took it with both hands we loved him we praised him we thought he was brilliant he wanted to move to to get first team football we sold in s Villa for 20 brilliant he's done well for himself and he just ended up starting to become this absolute douchebag okay he's won the World Cup good God he didn't win it himself like has be completely honest here mess during that as well though was oh I can't stand his Antics absolutely the rules of all the goalkeepers and how they restricted on what they can do and say it's all down to him it's all down to Martinez the guy is just an absolute drip yeah there we go as I'm not gonna moan about it anymore no anymore 18 minutes 18 minutes we look off misplaced passes really worrying me I felt something at the start I said this at at the start of the Pod Danny I said the very moment of the game I was anxious and worried about how this game was going to progress even though I hadn't seen too much but uh after that point I thought I felt like I saw enough but 23 minutes foul on Gabrielle oh yeah that was the was the Watkins Miss have you got a clip of the wat Watkins Miss Dan if you don't no problem so I felt like it was a foul on Gabrielle Gabriel had his back into the player and was kind of pulled down referee I think actually waves play on uh and Watkins pretty much misses an own goal there was a comment from somebody in the comments that stated that OE Watkins is a goona if you don't know that yes he is an Arsenal fan and obviously I'm sure a lot of Arsenal fans are thinking maybe that came into to his mind and he got into into that particular position because I tell you what if he scores Arsenal are going to want him but no well that's don't be stupid that's completely irrelevant if he did score I'm sure Arsenal would still look at him different uh would look at him the same not like Ivan Tony though his attitude is shocking is a bit of a he's His Own Worst Enemy at times I think he is he you're completely right he is he's not even getting a I I think he's going Saudi and he's not even getting uh any firm from them there's rumors of Saudi turned down 75 million to go didn't he he did to stay at Roma I'm it's admirable it's admirable 25 minutes we are not playing out from the back and Mark uh and making it um oh yeah sorry we're playing out we're playing out from the back Danny but we're making it look like this is the first time that we played from it the way I'm watching the game and I don't know if anybody else agrees with me in the comment section is I felt like Timber struggled to come in and invert for some reason he was struggling to find Space to offer up an opportunity to play the Recycled ball through to the attacking third and we started to struggle we started to really see a lot of Tippy tappy football between the uh between white Gabrielle cber and the and Rey we saw that for a for for a number of times where there was no real opportunity of Timber showing himself to be available I don't know if you saw that Danny but I really felt like Timber struggled I think if you're going to come into the the Arsenal back for on a regular occasion you've got to know CBA never makes a mistake uh Rea rarely makes a mistake Ben White you can rely on him to cover you the entire time but Gabrielle he is he's he's brilliant him and SLA have got the best partnership in Europe probably but he is he is prone to a brain fart it's that hair implants and those false teeth I think some chemicals have got out there and send him a little bit D L sometimes he's not he's he is the the muscle whereas celra is the bra and occasionally things will go wrong so you've got to learn to cover Ben White always covers he knows what's going on give um um Tim bucks he looks like an intelligent blow give him 10 games he'll be on it and he'll be ready for um um Gabrielle to make the odd [ __ ] up and then he'll be in there I think he he's a bit rash not sometimes in the way that mustafi was but mustafi where he was [ __ ] most of the time and good rarely Gabrielle is brilliant all most of the time and occasionally he has the the odd mustach brain fart and that's what Timber's got a look out for like Ben White does like C does and even Rea does and once you got that done that is going to be one of the best back fives in the world easily stunning agree I agree and we've got great rotation with calori Off the Bench as well um you're completely right though timma just needs game time he really does need game time but you really saw the weaknesses in his game at the moment the fact that it's it's GNA taken a toll mentally isn't it Danny that this is his second appearance for Arsenal in over a year um that's going to play a toll on anybody isn't it Danny it's going to be frustrating it's gonna it's I'm sure there I'm sure he was filled with all sorts of emotions um so maybe that maybe had something to do with it but Villa Park is quite a difficult place to go for us and as I said I'm very glad that we got rid of that bad Omen really early doors the going for him is if you were taken over from rea Gabrielle or Ben White you'd have a lot to live up to he's taking over from senchenko not a hard job you haven't got much to live up to to be better than zenchenko who was good one game [ __ ] for eight games so yeah yeah he already looks better I agree I agree Martinelli struggled a little bit as well that's I'll just put that out there um worrying everybody yeah 30 minutes erard dropping deep Danny so I've talked about how Timber was struggling all of a sudden 5 minutes later ard's dropping deep and timbus playing out wide playing as a more conventional complete attacking Wing back as opposed to the inverted so I don't know if you noticed that but it ended up starting to turn into one of the worst games I've seen in a while obviously it ended gloriously but up until this point Danny were you getting worried um I did notice in which half would be shooting left attacking to the left of the screen first half I think so yes yeah I did notice that quite a few times that Timber would go into Central Midfield next to party and then doing what zinenko used he just stood he just stood with his man his man he never actually peeled off him ever he really struggles to find space and lose a marker I just think it's got something to do with maybe confidence but I noticed it and I'm not and Danny we all know I haven't got a degree in football so my my opinion doesn't really matter but the person that does matter is arteta he noticed it and asked erard to drop deep and Timber to come out of the inverted to maybe I have a little bit of comments no maybe I don't have any com it must be nice for Gabrielle especially gabri who plays on the left of the back back two Gabrielle Gabrielle so he plays on the left must be nice for him to see Timber standing in the same area as party marking his man someone runs down the left and it's like a scene from Back to the Future all you see is Flames along the pitch as Timber rushes back to left back and covers his man and then Gabriel musco well [ __ ] me that's what we've been missing for the last two seasons well done sir I agree I agree his space though uh for inverted for the inverted Wing back on possession of the ball he struggled T defensively though Danny did well yeah so I will give I will give him that he did well defensively tracked well marked well so I'm not going to be I'm not going to be hard on him there but on the ball he struggled um 32 minutes shot over the bar crowd brain dead shoot again uh 33 minutes Hab should have done better with the final pass Dany there was a few moments where the final pass left wanting 38 minutes have chance first of the game so we're starting to finally get into the rhythm of the game and give Villa a game back to them and then 41 minutes reyya saves us the one of many big saves from David Ry I don't know if you've got this it's 41 minutes just before we haven't done the the people weren't watching me show it again um The Villa player kicks the ball at I think it's Gabrielle ball comes off of Gabrielle and Benny blano goes hold my beer watch he kicks the ball it was instinctual wasn't it it's instinctual for him absolutely I love him ABS we want the ray double save who we got to that point was no no we haven't got to that point I did miss it 34 minutes mcin cheating diving little does it every game he's a [ __ ] he is a [ __ ] um I will say though for for Villa I don't know if you noticed any players that were playing well for Villa but that Rogers guy he carries the ball well he's a big boy in he carries the ball so well just Arsenal players bouncing off him like a pinball machine he just breathed through the middle of the park quite easily every single time he made a darting run second half starting just like the first party the only decent player and then 54 minutes save David ryer saves should I play it yeah play it let's play it the captain here lead from the front finds Rogers Anana deflected off the ball look it brilliant beautiful beautiful um I've said this before Danny I've Loved David ryer since the moment we signed him even before when he was at brenford I thought he was an absolutely exceptional keeper a lot of people gave me jip for it at the start of last season when we signed him and uh yeah by the way on the screen right now is your David ryer apology form and you can put your down put down your reason for be for your behavior whether you're just a [ __ ] a mushroom or even maybe a Spurs fan and then we ask you whether you learned your lesson or not so if you if you if you did feel grievance towards signing David ryer and why uh ramsdale was no longer than number one then you might need to sign one of those forms and send it through to Dan ABW that would be grand we've got a p box put Danny ABW po boov Manchester and it'll eventually get it'll get it'll get to him it'll get to him they all know they Danny's very well known in those regions so it'll find him I wouldn't worry about it but nice to see that Watkins realized once again that he's an Arsenal fan Danny and decided to put put the header directly in night's show transfer deadline day is going to be on the 30th which is um Friday coming we've got some work to do de because there is definitely um in in our in our WhatsApp group the um are you going to be doing a deadline day pod dny normally I don't there was two points from the uh the trans the podcast the WhatsApp group John said have we ever has edu and and Mikel ever signed a play on transfer deadline day now I've got the database I've got the spreadsheet and all that lot that I do myself and I sh yeah I got all of that lot um I'm not sure if we did I got all the dates on it I'll have a look at that but you got to check what sometimes it's the last Fridays the first Frid the first Monday blah blah and all outlock because Monday is a bank holiday in the UK so it won't be September the 1st so I think they've just gone that day instead and then somebody else said um what were we talking about the transfers and that lot um can't remember saying do we actually need it someone made a good point in the whatsa group it's annoying i' been so much chitchatting I might come back to me later but John said have we SED anybody on that day I don't know okay we'll figure that out but yeah Danny if we if we want to organize maybe a deadline day pod if information serves us well if there is rumas then we may possibly do that who knows um 64 minutes sacka in erard pass how did we not score there was a darting run from zaka was unable to get his shot off but in the Ard pass it was beautiful and finally sub Martinelli comes off for trossard and then moments later his first touch [Music] Danny very good Welsh is that Welsh again isn't it I think it was Welsh Welsh or Spanish um potentially I I could believe that he scor I'm pretty sure it's his first touch um I'm pretty sure it's his first touch if anybody disagrees with me please let me know his celebration I think says everything you need to know about his attitude and how he feels about oh that was it they were talking about we do we need a striker and they said we can't play um trossard up front I think Fey said we can't play trossard up front and Josh was wasn't happy about that because Josh thinks that trossard could play up front if Jesus or hav isn't available do you agree with that or not well let's be honest trossard played up front for us last season a number of times and did exceptionally well however I feel like the way that Arsenal are trying to play now is a lot different as opposed to we seem to be evolving every season don't we Danny um the fact that we are utilizing havit in the way that we are and the fact that we went in for Benjamin shesko of leig says to us and and our Teta and everyone else that we are trying to play a certain way and I don't know if trod would be able to do I'm sure he'd be able to do a job but I would still love the idea of uh of signing a signing somebody who could facilitate in some other fashion that that fits the system of what artetta wants overall but that's just my that's just my opinion Danny I feel like trossard is too strong to play up front I'd I he needs to be starting on the left wing Martin needs to do a lot to earn his spot back because he's he's not been the same player for over well was a season and a two and two games now I it's the the Europa League run he hasn't been the same player as we had hoped and it seems to be that a lot of players struggle to get past the initial making an initial impact in the team and then continuing it on game after Game season after season he is struggling with it and it is it's concerning because a lot of us have put a lot of Hope in him being able to do that role and if he can't then um what he's not overly adaptable to play in many other positions is he we can't guarantee that he's going to be able because before two years ago we' have gone any one of the front three and now we're going oh he's not even really that good as as one of the Wingers I think the only chance he might have if he continues to not be great is to try him as a central Striker sometimes it does look like he just gives up and goes I've done my best I've done it for half an hour can I come off now I really don't know what's happened to him I really don't know it's really weird I'm Blown Away with the falloff I'm really blown away with the fall off of Martinelli we were singing his Praises two seasons ago Dan in how incredible he was and the performances he was just pulling out it was it was sakur and Martinelli who were dominating for us that season it was an incredible incredible season but um yeah I I I just really don't know but regardless trossard needs to start and we need to go into the market and hopefully sign ourselves someone who can uh offer something a little bit different to what we've already got or maybe that fits into arteta's plans on he wants to play but who knows I'm hoping that we sign someone obviously m mourino is is has been here we goed by Fabrizio Romano which if you don't know that basically means that he signed for Arsenal it's just a basic basically waiting for confirmation now yeah but the idea of you know the fact that the Eddie and ker deal still hasn't gone through I'm a bit anxious about that I really want to try and invest and use that money and hopefully sign ourselves an attacking player and somebody who can offer and can you know give Arsenal that chaos Factor but got something here for you it is a reversed view of the double save by ryer it's only two seconds long such a good save I know that Watkins kind of puts it into the center of the goal but from the angle he still you know puts the header to the side of him but incredible reflexes from David Bry incredible reflexes an incredible keeper overall um it's a tossup between him and party for man of the match um or even trossard or even trossard who kind of all three of them were brilliant um 70th minute here saaka really wants more from the away fans he kind of does a a really great tackle out on the right hand side um and then gets the fans roaring and then 77 minutes Danny party best player on the pitch scores from just outside the box side footing it Trad is the game changer there he is Thomas party the man that if he stays fit plays like this week in week out win the league don't we Danny we win the league we certainly do do you want the goal oh I'd love the goal I'm again seven seconds here we go no no no do you know what makes that goal even better is that Martinez should have done better with saving it and he got real angry and bumped the ground with his fist like a petulent child and it just warms my cockles Danny it warms my cockles very happed about happy about that but Trad was the one that played the ball across the mouth of the goal and sacka was able to recycle The Possession and put it into party's possession put it into the back of the back of the net but uh but there we go yeah Liam greyer expected better from the world's best goalkeeper could agree you still haven't logged in as admin have you nope no there only two games in I've got a cat my mom's old cat he is a we call him a tickle Thief I'm tickling one of the other cats he'd be straight their head in do me he's sat he goes what do you want what do you want no [ __ ] off I heard heard it I heard that as well incredible goal I'm really happy that party was able to sort of capitalize on incredible and an incredible performance from him um you know did really well we were very overrun especially with the fact that timble was was struggling with the the the The Possession side of Arsenal's game defensively was very good but possession wise he was struggling to part he was able to fill in quite a lot and was able to do really really well and as I said was able to cap it off with a with a with a goal as well which was brilliant 80th minute this man steps onto the field the most Italian looking Italian timber that's how I Des I said he couldn't be more Italian if he tried yeah he's the most Italian Italian uh incredible looking guy um looked looked solid there was a few moments where he showed off uh great interception and and game awareness um really showing glimpses of what um what he could potentially bring to this Arsenal side it's going to be very interesting to see if he starts to when he gets a run of games at left back how he is utilized um under arteta is he going to play that inverted Wing back role better than what inko can do because I tell you what Timber couldn't do it with possession based and the fact that I'm asking I'm having questions about zenchenko playing better than timber in possession worries me but obviously Timber needs game time there was a moment where you know he had a few moments of darts into the box opposition's box looked brilliant but he needs to work on his his overall gameplay with possession of the ball but um 80th minute as well erard miss of the Season Danny you probably don't have a video of it but he absolutely skyed it over should have been 3-0 frustrating I was busy having a a breakdown because um my mouse was being a [ __ ] and I realized I had my computer on low power and so when I had everything running my mouse was going across the screen so no I didn't see that no it was a really really bad effort from erard as I said it's probably going to go up there for the one of the misses of the season um just the the the moment just got too much for him I guess and he just skyed it and he should have lifted into the roof of the net it was really disappointing for him got some really nice pictures here um people say that um uh party doesn't really care that's not that's not a man who doesn't care is it who said who said party doesn't care me sometimes oh and look at these look at these three beautiful bastards if you see them strolling out I mean Timber's a good-looking bloke as well if you had those and four them strolling out like this just looking at going two-nil wins delighted Dee delighted we we're only going to get better Danny we're only going to get better so I'm I'm I'm very happy that we've got two victories under our belt two clean sheets under our belt and one of our bog B teams uh kind of quashed early doors and there's party the man who doesn't care um let's hope and pray let's hope and pray guys let's hold our thumbs let's do all of that to really hope and pray that he stays fit for the remainder of the season because if we keep seeing performances like that the talk of Arsenal winning their first league title in over two decades will definitely be on the lips and mouths of commentators up and around Britain that's for sure and even around the world Denny so I really hope he can uh he can because I tell you what Danny if he puts in
