FULL REACTION to France vs. Belgium 👀 I'm seeing improvement for Mbappe! - Frank Leboeuf | ESPN FC

2-0 to France and I'll be happy with that after their loss to Italy last time out goals coming from Randle colani and dman dembele let's welcome in Frank Le off our very own Frenchman to talk more about what we saw you got to be happier with what you saw from French Tonight Frank yes I am I am because um I can see some improvements uh uh um if you if you compare with the the first game against Italy in that Nation leag competition um I'm I'm happy because I saw offensively some good good things I saw beautiful amazing Angolo kante as always and uh yeah offensively was better you know what I discovered that dembele in fact shouldn't be a forward player he should be in the middle of the park every time he's in the middle of the park what he does is exceptional he delivers very nice Balls to the to the forward so maybe he should replace himself uh into the into into position um I'm not happy with mbappe every time mbappe has the ball he only thinks about scoring you know that he will won't give the ball back to the player I'm not sure he wanted to give the ball back to bakola as Craig mentioned I think he he wants to finish he wants to score goals because that's the only thing matter which it is something I understand but sometimes there are other options and those option are not part of his mind right now he wants to score a goal we've seen it with both Real Madrid and France now then well we know it's all about him but uh you know from a French perspective uh sometimes it's a little frustrating and I think and Frank's right there was some some some really good things but for 20 minutes at the start of the game there was not and I suppose it's a product of of dad shs that uh and and he has been successful of course he has World Cup winner uh and all that but they allow teams to to sort of have easy possession and Belgium did uh and it took 20 minutes for France to grow into the game but as as Frank said you know we sort of love to watch Ang Goa k I thought gendi did a good job and I thought Corney grow grew really into the game and was very strong a little bit raw at times but very strong in there uh we saw the end product from from Usman de belly so I think there are some good things from France I think clearly it's not the strongest at French side there was changes again from the defeat from the Italy game but I I just feel with France they allow teams at times too much possession uh and I think sometimes the fr crowd get a little bit frustrated that it takes you know it takes him a long time to get in the stride and and I I said I think that's the way Des shoms has gone about the job uh over the course of his his French managerial career which I say he's been successful it wasn't at the Euros there uh where they were disappointing let's be honest but I just I watch France and I always think there there's more to come there's much more to come they're much more talented than we see yeah they getting they get results but there's much more within a performance it's almost like they have four gears and they play in second gear there's a third gear and possibly even a fourth gear but the way D Chomps manage is was just a little holding back of the reins and you know I think sometimes from a French uh public perspective I I can understand that that frustration there's a balance between the success that they've had but they've had disappointments and sometimes and maybe I'm wrong here sometimes I think the French crowd can go away a little bit disappointed with what they've seen in terms of what's been on the field not necessarily in this game tonight but I think over the course of De DS's French managerial career for me that would be a good way of summing up and Belgium did have a lot of easy possession fortunately for France they were a little uh lightweight in the final thir do you think sh more to come from France uh yes I without question but but at the same time and while you know you you look at France and and and the boys are right in the their assessment of of this France under under did desam France is still one of the most successful nations in European football the last 10 years um so why there's an expectation about who they are about results and maybe you you temper that with the disappointments of the Euro this summer the disappointment of the of the Italy game um I I thought they made light work of of of Belgium and that being said I I thought Belgium played their part in it I Belgium for me are are um are not a good team and I'm just just being as as kind as as a possibly can but on a day when uh France needed a result and a performance I thought they got them both and um and and credit to to D sham his French Squad the changes that he made there's a lot of the French manager all of a sudden despite the successes has found himself under a lot of pressure he does have a contract for the next couple of years he tried to make changes tried to bring in fresh blood and and maybe you see um this team starting to take better shape over the next couple of years in anticipation that World Cup in in 2026 but I I'm listen if I'm a French French fan I'm happy with with the de's performance the de's result um and and uh and the successes that you've enjoyed on the just switching quickly because we just saw the the Belgium team there and know we'll stay on France you know for a for a really Top Class world class player I think it's going to get very frustrating very quickly for Kevin De bruyne yeah yeah very frustrating because the support cast has pretty much uh gone around them all those guys that were playing at Elite level clubs uh around Europe they're still Samar Jeremy Doo was ineffective lukako was pretty poor to be honest uh tman and Anana are okay and he looked really sharp again as he did against West Ham in the league Kevin De bruyer he looked really sharp but there's only so much he can do and then you look at the back line you know there's no vong anymore you know uh there's no uh veralon there's no you know who's the other guy I'm missing somebody out there there's a bunch of them are playing at the back and before we even get to the goalkeeper who doesn't want to play him we saw the goalkeeper he's not well he's not in the same he's not t he's not even close and so when you look at it now from this perspective it's going to be very frustrating for Kevin De Bron there's no doubt about that whereas at least the French the French have got you know this C this still this core group of players uh that can come in and do a job I just think and I don't know where what Paige Frank's on with this but the first 20 minutes to me were just typical of what damp sometimes does is that they just allowed Belgium a pretty average Belgium side so much easier possession uh and I and I often wonder with France they never really play a pressing game they're quite happy to set off and allow teams to play and I think sometimes the better teams if you allow them to do that uh will hurt you uh but it just seems to the way he goes about it and Shaq is right they have had success but maybe they'll have more success doing it a different way Frank yeah well we've been waiting for 10 years to see desan changing his mind and be more offensive and more um dominating and uh it will never happen that's not his uh his what he has in his core he likes defensive football he likes uh the way that he makes his team playing and it's what's going on and um he been a player like that he been a a coach like that with marel with Juventus after is the way he likes to play waiting for the other to open up and play in Counterattack so the second gear that you were uh talking about that's the way he plays and he will rarely go to the third gear uh only because the the the the players are goings toward that but for forget about the fourth gear and is not going to go for it because he is too much calculating these games uh that's what it is so it's frustrating U so many players former players have been complaining about I'm not because the results are there and as Shaka said we've been a very successful national team since 98 France played Four World Cup finals two European championship finals and I've been successful under DJ show so there is nothing to say about results it's only about the way he thinks about football and but it's him and unless we want to see something else it it will be it will be like that with G but only another guy can can do the job all right all the viral [Music]
