go tipped in by Johnny goodro from the beginning the player dubbed Johnny hackey was special undersized but electric during nine Seasons with the Calgary Flames his career tragically cut short far from the ice the 31-year-old killed along with his brother 29-year-old Matthew while cycling on this New Jersey Road police suspect the driver of the vehicle that hit them had been drinking the sudden loss hitting home nearly 4,000 km away in Calgary still can't really wrap my head around it um you know just such a young guy and I mean shows life short he was the person who probably made me watch hockey in the first place sa here and to see him go at such a young age for such a horrible reason makes me sick Gad left the flames in 2022 after starring for the team in the playoffs PS a pass to l by offer took it up high good roll scores this goal sent the Flames to the second round but it would be his last with the club the American signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets that off season his death stunning fans there too he loved Columbus he spoke highly of Columbus he wanted to raise his family he talked about that all the time and so as a community I felt it was important for him to for us to back him up cro was met with booze on his turned to Calgary but no hard feelings from the player to thank them all for you know just being great fans and kind of welcoming in their city and and treat me really well and my family really well during his years in Calgary gdo left his mark on his team and the city this is a player who meant so much to the fan base as long as he was here I understand that fans felt the way they did after he left but he created so many memories Johnny Ro left the Flames as the team's fifth leading scorer his brother briefly played for the Flames farm team both men leave behind young families adding to the tragedy the brothers were reportedly set to be groomsmen at their sister's wedding Friday and Aon people are marking this tragedy in a lot of different ways they really are and I think this caught a lot of people off guard and they've been stopping by even though Johnny gdo hasn't played here for a couple years they've been stopping by the saddledome dropping off jerseys flowers that purple Gatorade that he made so famous drinking on the bench and his family has put out a statement the family of the two brothers saying that uh they've lost two brothers two sons two fathers and two teammates today and of course there's been condolences offered from everyone from former teammates to the Prime Minister today it's also going to be a vigil held in Columbus Ohio outside of the Arena where Johnny gdo would have started playing again in just a few weeks Ian Ain cins at the Calgary Saddle Dome this evening
