2021 Clemson vs South Carolina Football: Todd Ellis Edition

[Music] they're not the Clemson offense of old that is true right so I don't want you know I don't want us out there defending ghost right that we don't want to say his name but the long-haired Bandit from last year is not there any longer right that's that's not who we're facing and so don't go out there defending ghost play what's in front of you and have the confidence that you can go out there and be successful but here is the here's the absolute thing we are playing with I've heard people say yes we're playing with house money but here's the thing we have to play with a belief structure that we are supposed to win this game and not a situation that we hope to show up and hope to be be competitive in it if we go out there and we play like we're supposed to win this game there's nothing saying that we won't win no one thought that we were going to be Florida no one thought that we were going to beat Auburn right no one thought that we were going to have six wins going into this point this last game of the season so we have shown people that they they were incorrect in their assessment of us before the season why not do it again tonight here's the thing with those numbers right they're first ACC opponents a lot of those things are mirrors like let's not like listen they play their schedule they play who's in front of them all right but let's be honest now if they were eighth in the nation and they were playing in SEC schedule now I'll be like okay but listen I I my house is divided now I've got one in ACC so I I say this with kind of tucking cheek but I always serious like they're playing the ACC opponent so so yes they're athletic they're big they're strong they're physical but they're not unbeatable this Clemson defense is not what we've seen in the past right right those guys have gone on to the NFL these guys were not starting for a reason and it's taken them this long this throughout this part of the year before they've got to where they are right now so they're not unbeatable they're not World beaters it's not a situation where we're playing against georg's defensive front right so we've played against bigger faster stronger defensive lineman in the past I don't think that we should be quaking in our boots because we're playing Clemson's defense time to talk your favorite subject that's o line play looking across the way for Clemson one of the best defensive Minds in college football Brett benol is the defensive coordinator for Clemson certainly the highest paid he's the highest paid DC hey man congratulations to him all right he's obviously facing Jason Brown a guy first year starter for South Carolina you know he's going to be dialing up a lot of exotic type stuff what is this offensive line to do to protect their SLE Coler I mean to be easy about it right be better but here's the thing this isn't the first defensive coordinator that's going to be dialing up exotic deep blitzes to try and attack our quarterbacks we've been going through this since the beginning of the Season every single defensive coordinate has been dialing up exotic blitzes whether it's four weak Four Strong whether it's double a gap blitzes whether they're drop it doesn't matter like there's only so many bles you can draw anyway Clemson has as again they've recruited very well specifically on the defensive side of the ball so they have sec type of players not saying they're an SEC defense but type of players right so it's it's not as though you're you're going to face let's say you're not playing wake Force right you played Auburn you play Florida these are the same type of athletes so to me it would seem this is what the Gamecock offensive lineage used to yes they're used to it but here's the here's the thing about this Clemson plays maybe two games a year right so it's very hard to dial that up now yes this is a rivalry game so it'll be dialed up a not but it's very hard to dial up that intensity when you haven't played against that intensity the entire season now here's the thing so yes we're used to Big F that's what we're built for our offensive line is play is built to play against big strong guys we're not built to play and I hate saying I've said it over and over again we're not built to play vanderbild we're not built to play Kentucky Well the old Kies we're not built to play Missouri where they play the little you know dodgeball defense where we're going to send everybody we're just going to keep moving and hope that you big guys get tired and at the end of the game we'll be in a position where we can win it like that's not where we're built to play we're built to play against the the Auburn the Alabam the the georgas that's what we're built to play that's where we went out and recruited the 66 320 pound guys that can move grown people that's who we are built to play against so it's going to be strength on strength this is the type of game that we want to play this is an opportunity to continue to put all the naysayers to the side this is an opportunity to go back and reclaim what is rightfully ours our position as the top institution in the state of South Carolina be able to go back home with your heads held high understanding that those that chose to wear the orange and the purple will forever continue to work on John Deere tractors let's go let's go why the I think it changes the absolute complexion of this rivalry I think it changes everything for South Carolina football and I think these Gamecock fans finally are starting to believe as a whole fan base in what Beamer has been trying to do since he got hired there is belief in Shane Beamer the coaching staff and what he's been doing and I think that is what will change complete and total fan base just kind of Patchwork at this point not find anything all year long Tommy that's been the bread and butter of this football team it's been good at times uh it's been hard fought we got some talented players at many positions but it it has not flowed you're right about that I think that the defense has kind of a you know has has kind of found itself I think there's some there's clearly some teams we've played that Rush the ball better than than than others and throw the ball better than others but overall I think defensively we have a a pretty good identity there offense is the one thing that's really just kind of confused people all year long because we ran the ball so well last year have not been able to run it this year for a variety of reasons I guess and it's a lot of frustrations on offense not scoring points things like that third down and 10 Vincent Murphy in the ball game for Gwen Clemson blitzes up the middle Crossing route and another tip pass at the line of scrimmage Ze Nolan had three passes in a row knocked down that kind of night for the Carolina offense and Z's not a small guy Tommy and you know generally has the football above his ear throwing it a lot of times you don't throw over someone you throw in passing Lanes as you all know and so many times it's just a game of inches but it's just unusual you have three knock down by a guy that's what 61 or 6'2 in size and it's just the way it is though Carolina going forward of course 20 down 23 nothing Zeb Nolan from his own 24 yd line back in the pocket throwing curl outout oh into coverage and very dangerous it was not picked off nobody coming back on the play and Zeb Nolan the Gamecock offense steps off the field and the defense again will be put in that spot Josh van out on the edge was
