e [Music] [Music] [Music] our philosophy is alignment assignment aggression attack we use 4 a to to talk about those deals there every everything you do you got to know where to line up that's your alignment next thing is is assignment you got to know what you're doing when you get there aggression you got to be confident in what you're doing every day that you're doing it we use that motto we meet twice a week with our Player Development team and we build confidence and leadership in those kids that way I mean it's my first year this year and you know these past few years years obviously had it been the greatest and I saw that and I was like you know I feel like I can come around and change the change it here and change the culture so uh I just wanted to help with that and it means a lot to me to just help this team get to where it needs to be I feel like my teammates probably say the same thing coaches say I'm very hardworking probably goofy though I'll make everybody laugh just try to brighten the moment when everybody down it means a lot uh I've played a lot I've played for the past few years I love my coaches and I would like to get like better team chemistry with my teammates and pull off some wins that's that's the most important I want I want to win some games this year for me it's trying to build on to something and leave kind of a impression on the school for after I leave my contribution to the team is I'd like to bring some motivation and Leadership this year put in some hard work and dedication and hope to God that everyone sticks with it works well and works as a team man at the top of that pyramid the acronym is win so we're doing what's important now we we we preach it we say it it'll be on the back of our helmets that's beating ourselves up in practice that's getting here a little early to take some nutrition and in the weight room we're going to do what's important right now to get us to that ultimate goal on Friday I hope that as a team we can work together this season and become better and give it our all and hopefully with a couple wins with some help from like our online and dline coaches and uh just play hard I've never made like a district game I've never won at least one District game this year I want to win at least one District game that's all I've wanted to do my football career is win like one to three District games and move up I'd say dream big so you know I'd say state championship all right I might as well I mean last year too so got to give it all you're all and hopefully hopefully the big thing yeah [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] I think it's more than just being a better athlete I think it's about making you a better man I think it like just makes us better people in general like how to like get up and get the work done even though it's hard and like how to push through adversity try to be as humble as I can come out work hard try to be a good example for everyone coming up I think a lot of it's accountability you know if one person skips then another person does and it's just just kind of a domino effect I think if everybody's here and doing their part that's what builds the program from the bottom up our team philosophy here is players first and team first in our coaching office we ask oursel this simple question will this benefit the players on our team and if it does then we'll do it and for our players we ask that they will uh measure every question against will this help the team any decision that I make and then we base that off our five core values of hard work and embracing competition accountability Relentless effort and toughness and when you put those together that is an acronym for heart and that's what we want to play with a lot of heart coach Jay we've grown really close being able to trust each other about what goes on on the offense have a good time around each other and I've really enjoyed him being here we Bond really well I think after practice it's kind of all laughs jokes one big family I think you'd say I'm hardworking extremely funny super handsome I have beautiful hair uh but if you were to ask the kids uh how would they describe me I think uh sometimes they describe me as upbeat and energetic sometimes I think they'd describe me as uptight and grumpy but at the end of the day I think they would also describe that coach Jay is always going to be here I'm consistent I'm here every time the doors are open and I'm here pushing them as hard as we can to try to build a championship I hope to be in the final four of the state championship this year I think if any team's going to do it soon I think this is the one for individual goals I want to try and lead class three three interceptions this year I think as a team I think it's to we keep making it through the summer keep uh making good progress in the weight room and in summer camp you know have a really good season hopefully make it to State I'd like to be first team o conference this year as a team we're here to win so that's our goal go as far as we can win every game play as good as we can don't lose [Music] good evening and welcome to another season of Southeast Missouri high school football on a Corp Sports we are coming to you live from the swamp on the campus of Malon High School where the Green Wave are set to open their season against the rivals from up Highway 25 the Dexter bar cats alongside my broadcast partner Jim rker I'm Bobby Alford and we are ready to bring you game one of the 20242 school year Jim it is good to be back in the booth with you for yet another season Bobby same thing same thing here uh the jamb Brees last week got everyone really excited I think and now it's time for these young men to strap on their helmets for the real thing uh should have an interesting matchup tonight Dexter's coming off an outstanding 6 and3 season a loss in the regular season only to a very talented madri County Central team and to state champion Park Hill Central they lost a heartbreaker to St Jen in the state playoffs in their season Malden on the other hand really in a rebuilding mode this year with Coach trest Triston pulley um he's looking to create some excitement around the program has gone from consistent deep runs in the playoffs to one that's lost 23 straight games dating back to October of 21 um but coach kully seems to have created that excitement among the student body as this year he's got 40 players on the roster for tonight's matchup yeah and Jim you referenced that win the last win they had was a East Prairie 44-6 win back in 20121 so you know coach pulley definitely wants to come in and create something new here you talk about the culture and I believe he has uh a couple acronyms of his own that we talked about there in the encroachment videos you got the all that you want to touch on yeah we did he talks about he's got four things Four A's basically alignment get yourself in the right spot assignment know what your job is on the play aggression be aggressive on every play get after it and then have the right attitude about it and and and stick with it so far the kids have really from what we understand really bought into that um and and they you know largest number of players that Mal's had in a good while so uh and they're sort of LED uh going to be led by a new quarterback in Miguel redfoot yeah M Miguel redfoot getting the start tonight I believe uh they're going to look at some different people from what I understand in uh pregame talking to some of their coaches uh I believe redfoot may get some snaps also uh uh trisan monre know him from the basketball floor definitely coming in and getting some plan time at QB as well I think right now he's going to look at this game is see what we can do against a team of the Dexter caliber U definitely a larger school there he wants to see what players can step up and perform in areas and and trishan pulley is no stranger to Dexter Jim um you know this is a team he played last year when he coached at syon they felt like they were in that game for most of and were until late in the game Dexter took advantage and pulled away and uh you know look at this school's history uh last season 0 and10 the 2223 season so I'm go 0 and9 back in 21 and 22 That season they're three and seven on the year and you know tough times in the past but they are really looking to build on this team in the future yeah and this this really has been a pretty good rivalry over the last since about 2010 it's been eight wins for Malden seven wins for Dexter so you know it's been a pretty even matchup at one point malen really had Dexter's number I know the last couple three years it's been Dexter handling Malon but it's been a pretty e even matchup now the Bearcats on the other hand they graduated 13 talented seniors but they return a bunch yeah Jim there will be no shortage of saying seniors for Dexter this season as we will take really quickly on the screen there you see captains for tonight's game number 16 Jackson Howard number 12 Nolan Alford number 66 Payton line heartline and number 22 that is Logan pulham and for the home team Green Wave captains are number 11 Miguel redfoot number five St J Jackson number one tylon matys and number 64 and that is Hayden broom for the Green Wave on that uh Captain's there for the game Jim Rick quickly we will look at the Dexter BARC cats as we get ready for the coin flip here uh last three seasons it looked like this um last year of pixley's era it was the 21 season six and five first year for Jameson four 4- six last season 6 and three he's on the Ascend up and I can tell you there's a lot of folks around who's thinking maybe close to a lot of wins and that round number in that loss column if if Dexter can do what they feel like they can this year yeah they they you know like I said they've got a lot of kids back uh Jackson Howard a quarterback he had 1352 passing yards last year Jack Grahams is back he had 83 yards in the ground Lee Michael McDonald 821 yards the ground but his big thing 1650 allpurpose yards between between returns receiving running the football Nolan Alfred back he's got he had 21 yards in receptions Logan Pullum three 69 yards receptions and defensively I'm I'm excited about the defense for Dexter too Bobby you've got you've got two you know leading tacklers from last year Nolan Alford who uh 13 and a half uh tackles for losses last year hovic Jason hovic had six and a half tackles for losses last year uh lots of good talent left and the other thing for Dexter that I think think is really standing out to me is the numbers they have 63 kids over there not I don't remember the last time there were that many kids on the sideline I know there's number of freshman that won't play probably tonight but still lots of kids and that lets you play both sides of the football you know you you only have to play offense or defense more or less maybe just two or three kids not doing that and that keeps you fresh during the course of the Season keeps you fresh and of note uh I believe coach Jameson will play about three kids both sides of the ball uh Nolan Alford he will play both sides of the ball he'll be a a one of the wing te's and a kind of a Leo position of a outside linebacker or defensive end uh Logan pull him same thing he he'll play tight end he's another kid a a first team All Conference last season as tight matter of fact he's done that two years in a row with tight end he returns a familiar position there also an outside backer on defense uh Deon turnbo he will switch out some with Alford I think you'll see tonight and and those kids are going to get looks to keep them fresh on defense he's going to run that Wing T also a corner and uh Landon Ander may get some looks both on the offensive and defensive lines we'll see what coach Jamerson stdes to do but anytime you don't play very many kids on both sides of the ball that's a win Jim absolutely and and with the you know as I was driving down I checked 87 degrees a heat index at 92 that's probably cooled off a little bit because the sun's gone in but still it's hot out there tonight everybody knows that so the more kids you can more rest a kid can get during the course of the ball game the better off you are here we are looking to see who wins this coin tosses Jim I will let you cover the officials here after we get this it looks like Mar and greenwave has won the toss and they elected to receive so they will get the football first as Jamerson generally likes always receiving second I'm going to I'm going to give you that first name because you said you had it well I I thought I did so the referee is Lenny cor migle I'm going to say that and it's totally wrong and that's okay because won't be the first time I'm going to be wrong tonight or the last and then we've also got Chris Russian Jim vaugh uh Ben Godwin kale Williams out there um and we are about set for kickoff here Dexter will be kicking off and we I believe it will be Parker King that will be doing the kicking duties for the Bearcats very quickly Jim a lot of big games in the area tonight one I've got my eye on is a Scott City East Prairie game and that of note for Dexter they played both of those games teams later this season uh I I think they will have to be tended to that fil and that game is way it kicks off but I know Jackson travels to Cardinal Ritter tonight another big game in the area uh a lot of good football here on a Friday night what better way to kick it off right here in the swamp in Mal Missouri yeah exactly right and uh and there are you're right there's some good games we'll try to keep you up to date on all of those as best we can as the night goes along and I know the malen fans are excited here with the the opening night and a good crowd from Dexter on hand and we're set for some some football looks like Mattis and monre back deep for matin to receive Parker King has it teed up and we're ready to kick off here as soon as he gets the signal from The Ref anxiously awaiting the start of a senior season for some of these guys and here we go it's off it's going to be a short kick hits at about the 18 picked up there by Mattis he comes Far Side met there havit has hit him and a slew of barats in on the play there vorovich had a hand on him and I couldn't tell I think that was maybe number 11 I believe that's a freshman Carson Herson on play yeah so right off the bat you get some uh you get some uh freshman in the ball game and Malden will start out at their own uh 16 or so on 16 and let's see who comes out to lead him I believe that's going to be redf foot but we will check it here in just a second gim no I believe that's going to be maybe Zion Bell coming in at the quarterback spot long ways away from the numbers and I just can't see it from this distance dexra lines up in a three fourman front actually a three-man front and looks like alred is going to stand so three-man front for them it's got glouse and looking for the last one there looks like Parker King in the middle and looks like our first penalty of the season so far yep believe that is correct and it's going to be a 5 yard delay of game penalty I believe no flag on the play they've waved that off okay no flag so first and 10 Jim I am still strug I think that's number 11 Miguel redfoot there it's a fake hand he's going to pass then missed there offred takes him down for a short loss there on the plays so looks like it'll be a sack Nolan Alford maybe first one of the Season there and a I believe that was uh donrees Dobbins number 10 that carried the football Dobbins it is yes that the uniforms are a little tougher to see from this angle when he was been over Dobbins got the start tonight at quarterback doin back there again trying to check the number on the running back as well I know it's got a two in it but I will get that for you here here's a hand goes inside of Mattis there is offered again on the play offord and glouse on the tackle as well Jim I can tell you we said it in pregame but the name Nan offer is going to be said a ton tonight on defense already two tackles and two plays yeah absolutely they they've run to his side and he's made tackles for losses and it's now third and about 12 uh as we're on the first series the ball game so third and long passing situation possibly for malen here here's the play he going to be a pass rust for dexer again offered pursues hard and he's going to take him down again Nolan offered his second sack in three plays of this football game Jim and it's going to bring up a fourth down good Pursuit there by Nolan on the on the defensive side of the football um and the quarterback really Dobbins didn't have much of a chance to even look down field and it's going to force a fourth down punt Dex should get the football in great field position with Lee Michael McDonald back deep McDonald number seven as you knowed in the pregame his allp purpose yards most definitely I don't know about all of Missouri but in this area the most dangerous Return Man we've ever seen uh this kid has able been able to put the yards out there like crazy when he gets a football in his hands waiting on the snap here it is kick is away it's short Dexter just needs to clear away from they do and that is going to be down at about the 36 yard line flag is on the play though that is the far side over there on the sideline we'll get the play on that I believe it may have been procedure but we'll uh we'll see what that call is going to be but a very short punt as you said of about uh about 17 yards or so well senior Jackson Howard will lead his team out on the field Jim I believe you had some stats on him pregame there if we can get those real quick he had he had 1352 passing yards 13 TDS last year and he's got a a good receiving core I mean you got he's got about six or seven kids who can who can catch passes and that uh is could really play well y of note this is Lee Michael McDonald to the bottom of the screen number seven all the way to the top is Langston Warick sophomore getting his uh first start in Varsity action here tonight jet Grahams your back here's Howard he's going to pass first play he looks deep to Warick and it is going to be caught it is down and touchdown Dexter no out of bounds about two or three it looks like he's going to have stepped out there but nice completion there Jackson Howard just steps right back he had all sorts of time step right back Warick uh the sophomore gets involved right off the bat and it's first and goal for the Bearcats well Jim right away what I see from Howard already the Improvement right off the first play last year he was late getting the football out some that thing soon as he hit his hands he looked identified and he put that thing on the money beautiful play by Howard he's got Warick to the bottom of the screen everybody else pulled in tight right here for the barcat here it is hands goes up the middle to Grahams touchdown jet grahams and the barats are on the board Jim Grahams with that that you know he's a there was a a Rockham sakam I think is what one of the articles in the paper talked about in Grahams he's a load to bring down if you got two or three yards he's a load to bring down and the Bearcats lead six nothing right off the bat here and Parker King in to attempt the extra point and this is an area Bobby we were going to talk about the kicking game the Bearcats lost a great kicker last year yeah and how does that look you know phield gos kickoffs we already seen the difference in the kickoffs I mean last year I believe uh that would have went probably about another 20 to 30 yard Comm he could just absolutely boom him strong leg and a different look there low kick and it is good by inches from Parker King so that puts the barats up seven to nothing as modm will look for their second possession and Jim right now I'm sure the talk on the sidelines is who's going to block Nolan offord I'm going to think you're going to try to run a counter maybe away from him or have a running back to pick him up there hold another guy home but I'm sure maltin has probably already talked about this on the sidelines yeah you'll have to do something there no question about that to uh to stop that the the once again as we've talked about the problem is we've got Dexter's got a very talented defensive unit so if you go to the other side of the field there's going to be a linebacker or a defensive end or whatever over there that's going to be going to be able to stop make some stops too so it's they're going to create some problems defensively for teams this year I believe yeah and um something I would think maybe right away if you're having that problem of pass R coming they're probably going to hold a running back in keep him in a shotgun hold the running back home maybe bring him up to the side or quickly Step Up say hey this guy's been here every play you go get him let me worry about everybody else on the field yeah you were right that third down play they had four wide outs and nobody in the back field they're going to keep somebody at home you're right Martin has walked it up to about the 10 here's the kick it's short again it's going to be Mattis to come over and get that he picks it up at the 12 tries to cut it up field and does and breaks free he's got one man to beat to that's Parker King stiff arms him he's to the 40 to the 30 you can see him later touchdown Martin the green one wave get on the board for the first time in 2024 with a long kickoff return and a touchdown for the Green Wave and it's 76 well I I can tell you from conversations with Coach Jamerson he is not going to be very happy about that he wanted to perform well tonight and he didn't want to give up those kind of plays and I can tell you the Special Teams units about to get an earful and great play by Mattis man absolutely he didn't try to outrun anybody he got the ball saw a lane and cut it up field and once he did he didn't have a whole lot to fight through he just he used blockers and good vision and took it to the house you're exactly right looks like uh redfoot is in the ball game but as a wide receiver he spreads out wild that is number 10 at the quarterback spot there as dobins he has got number 21 Lewis to his side Dobbins Runs Out rolls out and Dexter Stacks him up but he gets in for the two so Martin takes the lead here early on eight to seven over the Bearcats just a quick touchdown run uh we want to take a quick break here and then we'll come back we'll take a 30se second break we'll come back for the kickoff Malden leads 87 with 947 to go in the first [Music] welcome back we are set for kickoff it looks like Dobbins will be doing the kicking job there there for mod as they get ready to tee that up McDonald will be your deep man for Dexter also has uh looks like number one Jackson Miller to the bottom and Langston Warick to The Far Side of the field over there 24 so up man I can't I can't read that that may be Houston Neely lots of lots of speed back there for the Bearcats we know that for sure lot of speed but I tell you you know the barats better learn how to contain matthys on that kickoff it will be a long night for them there there's a pooch kick goes out of bounds so the Bearcats will get the football yeah they will take the penalty spot instead of the penalty of the 35 uh yard line move it back five so back again is Howard on offense I say Bobby once again both those demonstrations there how important that special teams and the kicking game is I mean a sharp kick off by Dexter matys runs it back a pooch kick there by Dobbins goes out of bounds Dexter gets it on the 45 yd line that's that's a huge difference in the ball game right there all the way around huge difference there is a false start uh shown it is going to be five yards up so it's either re kick it or five yards and dexer definitely took the five yards on a short kick right so they started at the 49 yd line Dexter back to their familiar Wing T grams to the side of Howard offered at the top McDonald at the bottom of the wing T and Warick all the way by himself in one-onone coverage at the top of the screen there's McDonald in motion he's got it he looks for Lane has it kicks it outside now now down to the 40 to the 30 and McDonald may take it all the way and he is going to go touchdown Dexter right there again Jim we have seen a couple offensive plays from Dexter and an exposive plays right now and they are chucking out yards in a hurry they are that's a 49 yd touchdown run by Lee Michael McDonald and just he just made one cut and he is so fast once he got around the corner there was nobody who could get an angle on him to take him to stop him and it's a Dexter lead now 138 a couple of clean blocks and McDonald only needs a little room and he showed it there and just took off and left everybody Bearcats will go for two it looks like as Jackson Howard stays in the ball game so interesting move right here Jim so the first one they barely got the kick over is this something Jamerson wants to look at to say you know I want to see what we look like in two-point conversion tries two up close trying to figure out his season early on here yeah or to get up by seven e either way but uh uh you're right and with jet Grahams back there not maybe not a bad choice power package in herovic and Grahams here's a hand goes to Grahams up the middle and he is going to be in for the two-point conversion so Dexter back on top Now by 7 15 to8 folks we've had a lot of quick action we're going to take another 30 second break be back here on a court Sports nfu [Music] back here in malen as dexer gets set to kick this off again that's Mattis again the Deep guy number one number two man or Tristian monre back as well we will see how Dexter wants to play this as Parker King tees it up gets ready to kick off again here we go he kicks it low liner this time that is caught by number 11 and he is up down in yeah red foot gets it up and he has taken down about the 39 yd line so you you may see a strategy change coming already from Dexter 2 don't kick it high kick it low yeah could be looks like Carson Hart and baron Greer in there on the tackles maybe for the Bearcats and Malden will take over first and 10 on their own 39 yd line good field position for Dobbins to start at the quarterback spot yeah do Dobbins back out he is the man at quarterback little bit of a wing formation here that looks like Zion Bell Maybe you remember the big guy down low The Freshman last year sophomore this year goodl looking athlete he is pulled in tight to the line to help out there here's a play offered Again Jim that is four plays on defense and he's got four tackles already in this game as he takes down the running back number 21 that is Devin Lewis Caleb God assisting there on the tackle so second down and 10 for uh Alden and they're struggling off offensively they' got their touchdown of course on the uh on the kick off return and they're trying to figure out how to get something going offensively well they will quickly note the speed offer getting off the edge right there and and they've got to stick help over there to stop him as he now flips he's always strong sided looks like that he flips over except this time the running back's on the other side of him pass play he rolls out going to throw it deep he's got a man in coverage and it is incomplete and they're going to throw the flag yeah and it's a most definite flag Miller was behind him in coverage pass intended for number 80 Eli Brock Beckett yeah that's an that's a pretty easy call for the official though he was he was behind him and trying to reach over him to knock it down and anytime you do that you're going to get pass interference no question well smart play from aen they rode away from the side offer at they cleared the quarterback gave him time and he had a man deep there good shot one-on-one coverage right there and ball under thrown so the receiver adjust it back and and Miller was just left right behind him there for the uh penalty so we've got a 15 yd penalty coming up here and we'll be be first and 10 for the Green Wave inside Dexter territory for the first time on offense from the Dexter 46 well we will see how Dexter adjust on deep plays right there you they they're fine up front but boy you you don't want to start giving up plays like that uh throughout the night Jim Dobbins back again he puts and that's Mattis and that could no no procedure reset here's matthysse he comes in motion now here's a Dobbins fakes hand pulls near side and he's up the field and good yards there he is taken down by Jackson Miller on the play good opposite H short side of the field run that time Miller with the tackle from his safety spot and the Bearcats did lose a couple of good safeties last year in Farmer and Williams so a lot of speed a lot of experience they lost there you know that's one thing I noted with Coach Jamerson I was talking to him before the game is you know what to expect out of these young guys I told I you know I don't know how much they'll be able to throw deep tonight but they just did but something you definitely want to pay attention to is it's Neely and Miller back there both getting starts this season as a both sophomores and juniors there here is a play number two goes outside and he's got a lane hit there by a couple of barats though Stand him up for a loss that is herich in on the play and Connor Hill I believe as well from his linebacker spot so it's going to be a short loss of about a yard it looks like Connor Hill I think from the PA announcer got the credit on the tackled there as he was the first man to meet him so it's going to be a second and 11 for malen Ethan glouse Parker King and uh I believe Caleb got got up front yeah yeah yeah got in the encroachment video there very funny guy had some good lines and that love his personality doin set now puts a Man in Motion here empty backfield here he goes he rose out Dexter M Pursuit and he dumps it off quick and a good play by Dexter good contact it's dropped that was Neely with the yeah good job by Houston Neely there reading that and getting good contact and drop the pass and it'll be third and uh third and about 11 have to believe that Malden is probably in four down territory here inside the the 40 yard line yeah I mean at this point you know you're already behind this game you're in positive field yardage the only thing you can play as field position and you haven't shown you can stop Dexter yet on offense as they've only had three plays and two touchdowns right exactly so you'll uh and you want to give your you know a growing a young team some confidence if you can so Dobbins in the gun empty back field trips to the bottom here he comes he rolls out and he's got room no contain from Dex on the outside and dobins is up the field he will be short it looks like over the first by a couple yards there y going to be a little short that's going to be uh Connor Hill one of the kids in on the tackle there I believe maybe Pullen was over there as well so it's going to bring up a fourth and as you said Bobby about looks or three uh a long two to a three yes right right so definitely a four down territory from mden here big big play Early in the game for malen if you get this first down Jim if you're maling this is a lot of confidence absolutely a lot of confidence Builder we're going to have a timeout by Mal they're going to coach Tristan pulley is going to talk it over a little bit Timeout on the field we'll take one as well back in 30 on AP Court Sports [Music] [Music] your eglander will always be there back here in Martin situation sits it is fourth and Jim I can't see the board there fourth and it shows it I think it shows five to go but that is incorrect I think it's about I think it's about fourth and three yeah I would call it about fourth and three that's probably our fourth and four maybe if you stretch it a little bit just quick uh quick shout out to Andy Cruz who uh helped us out a little bit found some some mistakes we had made and and let us let us know and uh uh we got them fixed real quick so all the way from Arkansas I believe all the way from Arkansas did the intern this year with aort sports and she loved it so much she couldn't stop watching the program so uh thanks a lot and we are back to action here shotgun look again they got the running back pulled in next to the quarterback this time trips to the top lone receiver to the bottom here we go dobin drows out Far Side tries to get away Dexter Stacks him up and he is going to have the first down good push that time by Dobbins for the first down the Junior with the with the carry picked up about six and it'll be a first down inside the 25 yd line for the Green Wave well credit to Martin right now they have run every play rolling out the quarterback just about away from offord they they notice the pressure coming in they've made an adjustment and said hey we're not going to let this guy beat us on defense great job of mod and Green Wave offense right now back to the gun Dobbins empty Back Field again Dexter has five up on the line here's a Play here's Dobbins looks to pass gets it out quick caught and out of bounds after a nice game tackled by Conor Hill that's Becket once again with the catch and and Mal's doing a nice job Dobbins throws the ball well and there doing a nice job of just picking up those short nice job for him so far now it's third and about six or something for the Green Wave here just at the halfway point of the first quarter yeah and and getting the ball out with accuracy right now I think is important for doin he's got it one man in the back field beside him here's a snap he's got it off for coming right at him and had to get it out quick What A Catch and play that is Jackson Hill big turnover for the Bearcats there as malen really a nice drive down the field but uh Conor Hill with the steps in from his linebacker spot interception and dexra will have the ball first and 10 and now we'll see if Malden can play as well defensively as they have offensively and get a stop on the Bearcats and Jim I watch that replay what I saw there was he was looking for a guy to slant a lot of Bearcats within the middle of the field not a lot but he was looking for the slant and it looked like the route got cut off and it was an easy pick there for Dexter here's Howard in the gun as a large first down Nolan offred have yourself a first quarter big first down for Nolan there and a big run and give the uh give the offensive line and the and the uh Wings on that side some some credit there great blocking and then Nolan speed just turned the corner and got the big big pickup down inside the 30 yard line and we're going to have a timeout by Malden I believe but Jim I can tell you offred didn't have to worry about a whole lot until the tackle I mean right that thing was taking care of beautifully the offensive line that he got blocking downfield from warning two really opened up that play for him to get a large first down and again right now from the defensive standpoint from malen they can't stop the big play Dexter can't stop the short plays right now M can't stop the big plays that is that is very true right now and and you just brought up something there with with uh talking about Warick with the the block that Wing te and getting outside like that a key to that is a lot of times is how well that wide receiver out there blocks isn't it it is we saw that last year you know Alford was out at the wide receiver for Dexter and and he blocked downfield I I believe um somebody had made a comment I believe it's Brian Becker on Facebook about downfield blocking from him right and you know it just goes to show you what guys when they do their job does for the other guy running the football you don't always get the credit but I can tell you Warick really happed out there as well but the offensive line getting out in front Logan pullam also on that side he gets downfield and blocks right uh and and he's become Logan becomes part of that offensive line from a tight end position sometimes but uh again Dexter's just moving the football at will on offense the only thing it does is keeps her defense on the field a lot right here we go Howard back in the gun he's got Graham to his left Warick to the bottom of the screen here Dexter pulls it in tight with turnbo his first action and uh that is uh pull him there he gets the ball comes up got blockers again in front good stiff arm and out of bounds like contact out of bounds there's no penalty on that that was accidental more so than anything nice block downfield there by somebody I didn't see exactly who it was for the cats but a good pancake block there they're going to pick up we're going to FL is there a flag on the play there is a flag on the play face mask on Malden so that will add to the end of the run for sure yeah five yard penalty that's going to be enough to get Dexter right at the marker there if they don't have it Yep looks like second down and one for the BARC cats now after the penalty five minutes to go here in the first quarter well second one you've got to think this is probably jet Grahams territory right here big 230 lb back and here it is goes two gs up the middle and he's going to get the first down there he certainly will and uh uh you know that that's an example of how strong Jed is he uh you know he got hit sort of in the back field there and just sort of bounced off and picked up but still about five yards on the deal jet pounding back you know he he's not going to win many foot races against other teams but right he is so big he doesn't have to win a foot race you really got Alford McDonald and turnbo right are the guys who going to win a foot races jet just needs to be the guy who really punishes the offensive guys the linebackers linemen and I think he really comes alive in that third and fourth quarter when that defensive Line's a little bit tired too really is a great time for him here it is fake there goes uh to turnbo up the middle nice run from him and turnbo is down near the gold line waiting and seeing he's I have not seen the touchdown signal yet touchdown now from the white hat I think I see it that was a was it I have not seen a signal no down on the no I think that's uh going to be for the extra point that was a not not a big signal but I believe we on the scoreboard we've got a touchdown up there so I think it was a touchdown by turnbo yeah I was looking at the official on the far side I thought I clean up and then McDonald makes a poor choice of trying to come up and make a play on a football he should have let go and falls right into the hands of malen as they've got it now first and 10 here's Dobbins he looks wble offered both back there again inter that is herich he is taken off down the field and he is down at about the 39 yd line I believe no 29 yd line so the second interception for Dexter linebackers here this one hovic look at both wble and offer coming off each edge of that defensive line for Dexter both them wble off boom right there credit those two guys for that interception that makes the football come out early and Dexter capitalizes on it absolutely right and and good Zone coverage by Dexter but you're right the pressure and they both got to him a little bit and that made him wobble on the pass and a nice interception Dexter with the basketball basketball football once again jimly it's November for that one I know yeah yeah it's only it's still August they're able to do that this season they're able to put the pass where they want it on time and guys are just reeling them in and getting yardage on it yeah that's uh at least four receivers that have caught a pass four or five receivers that have caught a pass tonight for Dexter too so they're spreading it around um yeah so it's that's a that's a huge part cuz that that then does not let defenses Bunch up where they try to stop that Wing te so much and that's just going to open things up for that Wing te to to be able to run the football better yeah and you know right there it really opens things up syon is going to have to take note of that now because they like well Dexter's running football game well not so right and you know right now for modern I think if you're looking ahead other teams St Vincent they're going to look at Dobbins I mean you got to look at him and what Dobbins has done this game their game plan is going to be around stopping that kid as Dexter will go for two interest in to see how that one finished out I I thought that was going to be a competitive game in the area saon showing a little promise over there putting up some scores we've got them and Dexter yeah a lot of history there with him you know and and they did that with no stats no no nothing to go off except knowledge and prepping for a season I don't know how they could have done much better you can go download that app um really easy to find on Spotify there download that that's where I listened to it as well this week and uh enjoyed it here is M they've got it he looks to pass again and Bell in as one of the tacklers for the Green Wave there nice pick up there by by uh and off going to check out I I noticed he moving a little slower there great move to get him out of the ball game and get uh turn in I can tell you you can take offred out and turnbo in and you won't notice the difference in the two Runners very big kids strong kids good speed Howard back to the gun now he's got a third and two situation here's a hand goes to Graham up the middle and he's going to be stacked up look at maen Graham's fighting to get free and he's going to be close to the line of scrimmage but I don't think he's going to get it Jim no he's going to be going to get back to about the line of scrimmage you're right and it'll bring up a fourth down there what a stand by malen in there to stand him up number one the size of him stood him up knocked him back and then took him down for no gain on the play well they've really bald in the last couple plays have really uh put some some pressure tried to Blitz a couple players and did a nice job there and it picked up to make it be a fourth down situation for the steing won right out of the Playbook of Dexter right there put pressure on them and send somebody after the quarterback they are creeping up on the line again Howard's got it he hands that off to turnbo he's going to have the first down and Moes he gets the edge makes a cut runs over a man and touchdown Dexter dein turnbo for the second time tonight gets to the end zone and adds to that barcat lead now as it takes it to 49 to8 well just what you said Bobby you can bring Devon in there and you don't see a lot of difference between him and and Nolan Alford just for their quickness and and turnbo here you see on the replay just gets it turns the corner nice Block in there by that's number 20 Riley cooch got out and pick up his man sure did nice job there by Cochran to Spring a turn bow for the touchdown and and when you get up field you don't think it may be much but when you can get up field and meet that man five yards off the ball that's a guaranteed five yards he's almost got the first if he can just leg it out a little bit more I mean that that is cuz the 5 yard block gets you seven yards down the field J you know you've only got to pick up a few more so here is gley he's going to look to throw it in the end zone for two pass is caught there by Jackson Miller gets it up and he is in in and so two-point conversion is good so sophomore to sophomore there you got gatley to Jackson Miller and it's 51 to8 Dexter with the lead 108 to go here before halftime well Dexter with 51 on the board before the half and maen needs to find a way to put another score on the board if they can yeah I would I would sort of assume Bobby that we won't see a lot of the starters in the maybe the first series of the third quarter for the offense but that'd be about it I would think well and and I would say that's right possibly but the only thing there it's been a big play night for Dexter I I would think McDonald's night's going to be done but it's been a big play night remember Jamerson still has to run his offense he still needs to get reps timings in there but the timing for Howard for the most part except for one underthrown ball tonight has been impeccable I I think he's probably seen enough there to be happy with Howard he may give him a few more um if if you're a Dexter guy looking at this deal you want to see that offensive line switch up a little more get some more kids in to see what you got but well and do you do you think about ever um putting a uh will gley in for Jackson Howard even with that first team just to give him some first team reps just in case you know you hope it never going to happen but it's certainly a possibility in the mix and matching Could Happen here's a kick at is received I think that's uh that is Miguel redfoot that's Dobbins that is Dobbins stacked up there Dobbins with a nice return there got a little pushing and shoving going on underneath and they come out of nothing too major they got them separated and we'll be back to football here 101 left on the clock and Dobbins let's see if he can create a little bit of movement for the Green Wave and and there's the there's a question I have for the Green Wave in the second half do you do you um I mean is this going to be their offensive scheme for the season or do you try to try something different in the second half that maybe you've not tried in the first half just to see how that works you know but Dexter's going to be a bigger team than they'll face a lot this season uh true running up the middle against Dexter could be tough you don't want to aband that but I tell you another kid I liked the the five and out maybe is bail I I really lik his hands you know get him the football he's got good Vision now he's not super fast but he doesn't have to be as a tight end just get him the football and let him get you some yards right there there's a snap down I think that's right Dobbins is going to check out and redfoot is going to check in at the quarterback spot here with 40 seconds to go in the half credit to Dobbins he he was trying to stay in start the third will be a running clock this quarter uh this half gym and I'll tell you know you really look at Dexter in this game what they've done uh offensively defensively they've done whatever they want right now Martin's got to figure out a way to get something going on offense uh we talked about the jobs Dobbins has done but really bill I think he is a part of that offense they can get some quick hitters to him really start to use his talents within that offense and they've got to find a way to run the football outside of their quarterback scrambling right now yeah you're exactly right Bobby that's the that's the issue that that coach uh pulley's going to have to figure out you're exactly right is a way to to figure that out but um you know 51 to 51 to8 and and they're going to they they've got to find and they've got to be able to stop the penetration from Dexter to give Dobbins a little bit of time because they were very successful in that first Seas series of getting the ball out quickly on the pass but theyve just not be able to do that in a second you know since that first series pretty much yeah the edge guys for de has been amazing that's been Nolan offord that's been Logan Pullman that's been red wobble and what they've been able to do off the edge putting pressure I mean they have had Dobbins under duress ever since maybe outside of that first offensive series that New Madrid had they uh got some yardage in but Dex really just started coming at him the pressure put on by those guys uh several negative plays and make the football come out early for the picks uh they've done what they've needed to on defense there and outside of one bad thrown Ball by Howard they've done everything they've wanted to on offense he has been impeccable probably the best game I've just seen him you know it's a class one versus a you know a larger school but still though the way Howard has put the ball on the money he stood in the procket pocket very care uh comfortably One Time Hit a guy where he needed to you know one of his best performances I've seen and and I don't want to say it's just team he's playing because they're a smaller school but you know he has done what he's needed to to lead a team and look sharp and crisp and on time on every throw gym yeah you're exactly right he really he really has the the one little mistake like you said was you know just not throwing it maybe enough over the top on that interception but other than that he has been very very crisp the running game's been very sharp um I think it's shown that there's you know four or five kids who can carry the football we did notice that Lee Michael McDonald came out of the locker room sort of hobbling so he we I'm pretty conf we won't see him the rest of the game for Dexter um and that's probably a good choice as you get ready I it's a long season you know you don't want to push anything here early on and I would assume we'll see some of the younger kids here with this running clock in the in the second half too I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't yeah probably a lot of younger Talent getting to come back in and and show their uh stuff there you you might see I see Howard still warming up there on the sidelines he's going to get at least the first snaps here you may see the starter staying a little bit but I figure that will filter out especially on the offensive side of things that will filter on down to uh basically a lot of kids getting her opportunity to uh to earn a start on a helmet right here in this game you know first game of the season with the barcat they kicked it off and I I expect that to happen and modern again just just find some things to say hey guys we did this well and and let's keep doing this well let's work on it uh certainly they they've got some good size on the line Jim you look down there uh Taj Smith boy he's a big one when I watched a little bit of film with them earlier this uh week from their jamere you know here's a guy that I saw in film I said hey I want to know who that guy is you know good siiz strong kid and you want to figure out those guys and how you can utilize them in your offensive uh schemes yeah and uh you know Malden is in a class one district one and it's not a not a real you know not a real easy one they've got um uh St Vincent he Tai vanair chaffy Charleston Crystal City uh Louisiana and uh vertias Christian High School along with Malden so um you know some good teams there Malden I mean hati is pretty tough um Crystal City's giving SES in a decent game ST vinces is handling St Jin right now so little little adjustment here quick kick up the middle going to be taken there by looks like Neely maybe on the up KCK just try to Pooch that one through and the right time to experience the game and and not trying to throw all of them to the Wolves empty backfield now redfoot he's going to throw it deep he's got a man and it is incomplete very good coverage there by Deon turnbo had the position and was able to keep his guy bumped to the outside so that will make it now fourth and 15 for maltin yeah good job there turnbo with really good coverage going to New Orleans and that's Cardinal Ritter they say as uh Dobbins again stacked up there by Dexter and and this is one of the teams that they're not probably one of the best in the state of Missouri they would quite possibly rank nationally I mean that that team is that good and that many just strong athletes on it yeah they are they're they're it's just they are that good and um they're going to be they'll be a handful for everybody no question about it they lead Jackson at halftime 20 to nothing by the way um St Vincent's up 32 nothing on St geneveve Cape Central up 28 nothing on new Madrick County Central Scott City 14 nothing on East Prairie Jim another one I thought might get out of hand more so Cape central New Madrid New Madrid hasn't scored but they've held Cape Central in some Dynamic athletes to 28 points so yeah you know you put it in context that's you know they still got 28 but I'm telling you that's still not bad there's a nice complete pass there dobbin's got that complete trying and to wait and see who gets up off of that pile that is number eight I believe that's freshman K Brown yep he's getting some playing time for the the Green Wave tonight doing a nice job I see um for the Bearcats we I think Travis Robinson a freshman in the ball game for tra Travis Robinson is a senior Travis was actually he he played in Middle he was middle school he was at Dexter moved to malen part of this program I believe uh 7th grade or so on and then back to Dexter this year got for his senior year actually coach in the Little League football okay big build to him here is the snap they will get the punt away good punt High punt it will hit and Dexter will let it roll that's going to roll dead at about the 20 yd line there so they pick it up dead at the 20 good position one can go there Howard here puts a Man in Motion here it is hands two Graham up the middle and he rumbles forward strongly stiff arms a man and hops him up to about the 41 yd line so first down for Dexter there just a nice run straight up the middle offensive line still doing their thing for the Bearcats opening up a big hole for jet Graham we talked about the size last year gim and for the most part this offensive line has gotten nothing but bigger Landon Anderson is your smallest guy there but you know there's a lot of meat right there in the middle of that screen as we look down on this team I mean just a tremendously size Anders your smallest at number 55 there on the left end but man just a big big strong group for Dexter and you've got a couple of kids rousers out hurt and you've got a couple other kids who can play on that offensive line so yeah no doubt there's Graham again up the middle fighting for yards Grahams with about seven yards there um just trying to keep up on some scores here as we can Cape Central now is up 42 nothing on East on new M County in the fourth quarter uh Cardinal rer still up 20 to nothing St kville 14 to6 over St Pas that's still relatively early in their ball game so yeah ksvi has got some athletes I don't know what they have on offensive line this year returning but well they sure had some athletes last year very impressive athletes they did they they were just missing a piece or two to keep them pushing along but well they they looked like a much improved group last season expecting big things again this year here's Riley Cochran on the play trying to get that upfield he's going to be taken down after the first down so barats move the chains again clock will tick probably under six minutes as this one will be up top trying to tackle you can't take big guys down like that up top I take herovic is one of the best in the weight room for Dexter and you're not going to take a guy like that down grabbing him up around the you're exactly right you're not going to tackle Jason avoic up around the shoulders like that and uh he only picked up two but uh it was about a 25se second run and uh and a lot of lot of night on that name all night Snuggie Harris with the tackle out there and a good one open field tackle well I can tell you that you want to see that play out of Snuggie a lot more he slipped up and made a fine tackle on Dexter right there he did really nice nice job probably the best form tackle we've seen a guy come up and wrap up around the legs maybe on either team tonight definitely for m i larger class than them a game that saon said they felt like they could have won last year and they did hang tough in that game the game Dexter should have won two years ago they were up big in the first half lost it in the second half right so another game I think Dexter is going to come out and probably show what they can do and they will they will try to put it on seon I think in every way they can but seon's not going to lay down uh seon looks that game as a winnable game because they felt like they were right in it last year's incomplete pass there is the incomplete they felt like they were in it last year I I think that game's going to be a little tighter than some may expect because syon comes in feeling like they've got a chance to take that one and steal one from Dexter I think that's right uh just so pson at Dexter next week here on acorp Sports and then the week after that we'll be at Scott City you'll be hey tie at Scott City which should be a really good ball game as well so we've got a couple good ones come up in the next couple weeks plus we've got volleyball here on the aor sports on the 9th and 10th of the month we'll have the uh Jackson lady Indians taking and and um you know being interesting to see how Malden next week they've got crsv which might be tough but then they're at Charleston at syon Scott City it's not an easy schedule by any matter means but an opportunity to uh to get a a a win or two in here someplace during the course of the season I believe a player down for New Madrid offord Malden with a cramp I believe Jim that used to be my mistake calling them new M but now you Ste in do that y the green and and you know I I think as this schedule gets on end of the season there are not just competitive games You Look At That season for malen about week seven week eight they think they've got a chance to sneak in there and take some games a hati team you know they competed very well this summer and they jamere right beating haai and kenned I believe they look at that the game hey that that may be when we sneak in there and take from those guys um they've got a team from up North you know that's a smaller school Christian School right they'll play them something they match up with well there's another chance for them they could sneak out of this season and and if they can pick out a couple more along the way right you know this is the team who's won zero games in 23 it'll be 24 after night they may sneak out of the season three four five wins if if you're not careful Jim exactly right and uh you know and this is probably the toughest game on their schedule to be real honest about it I I would agree I mean just looking at their schedule not taking anything away from any other their teams but this is probably you know bigger school and everything here's redfoot Rolland he's got a man all over him and that is number 11 that is Carson hurt Carson hurt again we' called his name quite a couple times yes we have doing a nice job on that probably is going to be the last play of the ball game here as we're at 11 seconds and the receivers have to run back to the line scrimm so that's going to be it for the half there looks like a twisted ankle I don't think it'd be too bad I'm sure they're going to put some ice on that try to get him healthy this week ready to go offered a huge game running the football he he touched it a couple times big night for him yes uh also Deon turnbo at the same position offer R it another big night for Deon turnbo he looked very good as well re the endzone twice um jet Grahams running the ball tough very physical Runner and Jackson Howard I I can't say again the progress I saw tonight in that quarterback you know you want to see that progression happen and it usually happens from Junior to senior year right and I was hoping last year you'd see it out of Jackson cuz he started as a sophomore from sophomore to jior but the Precision the zip and Focus he had you know it it looked really good tonight if I'm syon and I watch this film I'm worried about the passing game with Dexter now absolutely Warick with a couple of nice catches I mean that that was really a good job there brand new position too Warick did not play wide receiv right there last year he had offered in front of him right and Neely and waret comes in gets a starting job this year really look comfortable grabbing the football getting to the end zone and scoring Logan pull him another one you know he didn't have any catches which is unusual well at had one I think one one that was a under a little which Logan usually likes to make the hard catches anyway nothing easy nothing easy right so that that was a problem tonight for him you know it wasn't something hard but you know he was involved in offense as well got a touchdown you know I think you're going to see that element probably shown A Little Bit Stronger next week out of the tight end position and some passes there but uh you know Dex really did everything they needed in this game defensively Again The Edge play offred wble and pulam exactly those guys were magnificent I mean if I was going to write an article about the defense it would start with those three names and probably end with those three names I mean just tremendous job off the edge uh I agree guys ain't dropping in coverage they did well there the linebackers they got some picks there The Backs got some picks everything they really needed to do and they stopped Ming up front got got with a nice job on the defensive line yeah certainly I mean they look really strong um competition only gets tougher for Dex they got syon seon's going to come in we said hungry on that deal malen on the other hand you know next week cville next week cville next week that's going to be another tough one I I just really like the athletic play of crfi M's going to have to come in prepared and build off some things I think you'll see Martin try to impress of the quarterback next week some with blitzes they had success tonight in doing that against Dexter Su caused an interception from Howard so I think mm would build off that as well look look for the improvements to come this year in the Green Wave it didn't go your way tonight but I'm telling you things are going to turn for this Ren wave program and they will be back competing before long is doing a good job and and he will continue doing a good job not a player that I know of yet who has really played football here well has left his program yet and they've been through summer camps they're committed to him and they come out in numbers this year to him so I I think coach pce you see him there on screen he is doing a fine job here and I think he will succeed I agree with that and I think you know he's giving his kids a nice talk right now so I think they'll they'll do well as they go along de does win big tonight 578 and Bobby we'll be back next week at Dexter as they
