Sen. Ron Wyden Welcomes Attendees to i2Coalition 2024 Annual Fly-In

Intro I am so glad to have the chance to welcome everyone to this year's i2 Coalition Annual Meeting. Big thanks to Christian for inviting me and for establishing one of the best tech advocacy organizations there is. It's hard to believe it's already been 12 years since i2 first came together. Back then, Christian and I talked about how Congress needs to hear from people like you to avoid passing shortsighted tech policies. That may sound good to politicians looking for a quick press hit. i2Coalition Since then, i2 has grown from an idea to a major force. Your coalition of infrastructure companies, DNS providers, web hosts, data centers, and cloud services companies are the foundation of everything else that goes on with the Internet. My positions on technology have been guided by two litmus tests. My Positions on Technology First, is it good for users? And second, does it help innovation on everything from encryption to section 232? It's consistently stood up for policies that would protect individual users right to communicate and the right to privacy. In my view, you pass the test with flying colors. Thank You I'll wrap up by thanking all of you for your work to inform the Congress on how the Internet actually works and reminding policymakers that laws will affect more than just the biggest four or five social media companies. It reminds me of the Golden Gate Bridge, where crews start painting on one end. By the time they get done to the other side. It's time to start all over again. That is to say the work doesn't end, but folks like i2 make it a little bit easier. I wish I could be there with all of you in person this year. I'll look forward to talking again soon.
