Just me.. Talking About... Nick Markakis?

hey everybody so today is christopher columbus day so there was no mail and it took me a while to figure that out i got home from work and i usually meet the mail person going down the street and i didn't see him and went to my mailbox and there's nothing there and i thought man what's going on and that's eventually found out so um i do have a couple ttm's to show off from saturday but i'm going to hold off on those until hopefully tomorrow when i have more but i figured i'd make a video and just talk a little bit about collecting because it's been a little bit since i've done that and uh i kind of wanted to talk about super collecting um i guess you could say this is a project i'm starting but i mean it's not anything i'm doing seriously but uh so i super collect kyle seeger because he's my favorite player but uh now that he's uh moving on i figure i gotta find somebody else to super collect too so and uh i didn't want it to be another mariner because i already super collect mariners so um i've been thinking about it for a while and i finally decided who i wanted to start collecting and that is uh nick marcakis sorry about the lighting it's the best i can do but uh he's always been one of my favorite players and he was always one of the most underrated players he didn't start getting any recognition until the last couple of years which is just terrible because uh he's really been one of the best pure hitters in the majors for he didn't was for 15 years so uh you know he deserves a lot more respect but uh i went through my collection unfortunately i think i'd sold most of his cards by mistake that i had luckily i didn't have a whole lot and uh the only two tough ones i had were these here and um luckily i still had these i got his uh rookie card on the 2006 tops and uh his uh 2020 tops turkey red chrome so this was an insert um so a little bit about him because uh maybe a lot of people don't really know how great of a player he really was he just retired before the season started but uh he's a three-time gold glove winner and he did have a silver slug award and he always he was only a one-time all-star which was strange i thought and he does hold the record for most consecutive games by an outfielder without making an error which is 398 games and um and i did mention earlier he was a great pure hitter uh at one point he actually was on track to reach 3 000 hits in his career uh obviously uh later with the braves they started having him swing for power more and he he did pretty well but then you know the hits weren't coming like they were before which i was afraid they would do like they do with so many players now and then of course he didn't really play last year and then he did have an injury for a while and so uh towards the end he did miss a lot and then he retired early you know he's only 37 right now but uh you know he finished with a career 288 batting average he has 2388 hits so i mean had he not retired early had he stuck with hitting and uh not swinging for power he kept playing uh 3 000 hits was very feasible for him so and that's what i like i just like great ball players guys who hit and uh do the all-around play the all-around game really well and uh that's becoming a lost art in the game today it's just it's really upsetting but uh i love baseball i'm a baseball fan and i always will be but uh you know i hope that's something that makes a comeback we need uh need more guys like nick marchakis and baseball but uh that's my video and uh hopefully i could start replenishing my nick marcakis collection but uh that's it i figured uh didn't have any mail today i thought i'd make a video and uh start talking about it a little bit and uh that's all i got for today uh tell me down in the comments somebody that you really a player that you really enjoyed and you felt never got enough credit and maybe share something that people may not know about them it'd be fun to read so thanks for watching guys and hopefully i'll see you tomorrow with some ttm's see you later
