Steelers rookie cornerback Ryan watts is making an early name for himself Turning Heads at rookie mini camp Ryan Watts a sixth round draft pick cornerback coming out of Texas tall guy 63 and uh Ryan Watts had the wait you know had to wait long time for his name to be called in the sixth round and uh he developed a chip on his shoulder for having to wait that long for him falling you know so deep in the draft and uh you can kind of you know compar it to the Joey Porter Jr situation Joey Porter Jr you know fell to the second round uh and the draft projected to be a first round and uh him falling to the second round he said he he had a chip on his shoulder and you see it translated to a good rookie season and he's off to a good career and uh so it's kind of similar you know to that uh Ryan Watts had to wait until the sixth round to hear his name called and he said uh you know he has a chip on shoulder and he's ready to work and he's ready to earn it so and uh so far so good you know hear a number of good things you know I know it's rookie mini camp and things like that but this is where it starts and uh he's off to a good start and uh speaking of Joey Porter Jr that is is exactly where he could be you know if things uh continue you know on a good thing you know the Steelers need a corner on that side um there was talks about a cam Sutton reunion and things like that who knows so you have to see how that goes but you know Ryan wats if he keep uh you know turning heads and and and doing what he's doing he may earn that spot you know you got Cory Trice and rush and and other guys that's still in the mix for that uh position as well you know and uh he fist the bill as the long cornerback you know the Steelers look like they're going with the longer uh cornerback the Avatar uh style built you know guys you know Ryan Watt 63 guy you know looks like he has uh some ability some tools to play that press coverage on the outside something that the Steelers need you know so uh and anytime you hear a player saying that they have a chip on the shoulder you know um being being uh uh mad you know uh having to wait so long to hear to name being called you know they have people waiting and and things like that the nerves and all that and uh especially when they feel like they were better than a lot of corners and in guys of their position you know that was drafted before them and they just want to come in and and and show the teams you know that draft that uh skipped them round after round that they made a mistake and that's always a good thing just to have a guy with that type of fire coming into your team especially at a position and need and uh like I said so far so good so you know uh Ryan Watts he's making a name so far so that'll be the name to you know to look out for come OTAs training camp and things like that and see if uh the name continues you know to keep growing and building and uh see if he can build off of this momentum you know take it all way into the training camp make the 53 man roster and uh earn that spot and it sounds like he wants it and we're going to have to see you know how how hard he works for it and uh what happens in the future so Ry Watts Steeler six round rookie cornerback coming in motivated turning some heads at rookie mini camp and we're just going to have to follow him and see what he does in the future and see if he can earn that spot next to Joy Porter Jr on that other side so thanks for watching the video make sure to subscribe to the channel hit that notification Bell to get all the new video
