Atlanta in a tie for eight three number one overall draft picks in the house and playing well individually and their teams are playing well this is a desperate Atlanta team and in order for Indiana to get a win home tonight they've got to play behind the play of Caitlyn Clark she's been fantastic all season I don't know what more you could say about Caitlyn that hasn't been said she runs the floor hard distributes the basketball knows the three WS who to get the ball to when and where and on the other end Ryan Howard for Atlanta Ryan Howard is one of the best bucket Getters in the WNBA she can score in all three levels they feature her offensively and she runs the floor he can finish in transition this is an Atlanta team that keeps getting better on the offensive end Ryan Howard's got to have a big game if they're going to win and Court of yes Caitlyn Clark and Kelsey Mitchell the fever know they are going to be playoff bound but where they finish is another question today will go helping determine that as Kelsey Mitchell feeds inside and Boston couldn't finish but Charles got a piece and a foul Boston heads to the line we know what Atlanta is playing for Atlanta is playing for that final and eighth spot in the playoffs and Indiana has already clinched so they've played two games after they've clinched this is their third sharpening the details and making the defense better she says that you know they're just late they look like half a step late on some things being able to help and rotate but when it comes to Minnesota the things that they do well consistently is share Howard has to hoist another good defensive possession by Indiana much better contest right there that'll take us through the first well the fever closed with a 0 burst line and Indiana has to defend without fouling which is good for them because the Atlanta is only 0 for two right so you can keep them off the free throw line that is critical to be able to have success here's Lorella Kuba using the right side of the rim banking at home Indiana shot 62% in the first quarter but Atlanta's taken nine more shots than the fever have IND has turned it over six times so they're falling when they shoot them but not as many attempts as they like that threee attempt won't count it's that twist action that I'm talking about that I've said it multiple times you set a screen and then you twist your screen to change the angle and that's what F benley got called [Applause] on great little Twan game Kuai pinned underneath wrap around pass and it was pretty but Nia coffee couldn't finish look at Kuai hitting the deck but it's a foul on [Applause] Atlanta the Kuai played at Georgia Tech was one of the best screeners in the league in college in the ACC playing for Tanisha Wright when she comes in the game it's about toughness and rebounding when that's when you see Kuai it's about getting on the glass and setting good screens for her teammates so and a hard roll to the rim too Pat some minutes here for the Indiana offense with wheeler and Clark on the floor at the same time wheeler just hoisted up there looked like she lost the handle Midway up and benley got tangled up there with Haley Jones and it looks like they called the foul on benley so she's picked up two fouls here in three minutes oh F Bing clearly was a foul there Haley Jones had great position trying to use her length to go over the top and here is Jones denial at The Rim sent back by benle she's going to try her luck on the offensive end benley ducks in and finishes how about that back to back the Block in the bucket coffee back outside for Gray she's got the size advantage on Wheeler trying to use it on a kick out coffee hits a three coffee hasn't hit many threes but she likes shooting threes against Indiana hit some big ones in that fourth quarter on the road at Atlanta Clark off the screen fires away shot skips out Coffey with the rebound able to get it ahead to gray as she hit three threes in the fourth quarter Atlanta had a ferocious just come back two weeks ago in Atlanta the fever were able to hold on but a 19point deficit was trimmed down to two in that game here is gray on the drive and the athletic finish really good ball Movement by Atlanta because what you're trying to do is create a disadvantage on offense and they're doing that by forcing close outs you want to get two or three Closeouts each possession and if you do that you're probably going to have a team in rotation and you're probably going to have some mismatches CLK step back three she connects you always think you close enough to her on a long close out and it just never seems to be does it Gray's been really aggressive here in the first half she has perfected as equally as dangerous as her step back to three especially when she can get it going to the left but you know what we've known her scouting reports and she was a freshman in college and it hasn't changed here's great difficult look that was defended well by dtis who came down with the rebound wheeler ahead benley running the floor count it and one this is the risk reward with benley right tough on the glass looks like she might have lost her angle there when she got fouled but still able to get that one to go so benley providing some nice minutes here picked up three fouls in five minutes but also has four points a block this is game 18 on the season for tamy benley she's missed 18 due to injury you know she's so important Pat for versatility for change of pace change of Rhythm on the front line adding depth and she knows her role dealt with three completely separate injuries this year good job by Lexi Hull to be there on the [Applause] catch Howard the switch on to Dantes bounces for Charles Charles flips it up and flips it in Tia Charles is just amazing so good so smooth in her 13th year in the leag and eight point here this afternoon here's hole on the drive setting up back benle who can't connect from the [Applause] mid-range Charles trying to get it to coffee and ping pongs around and stays down for coffee see if the help was supposed to be post to post on Charles Caitlyn Clark was already digging in which meant atto by Tanisha Wright you know that Tina Charles in a one-on-one because they have such great movement around her they're moving the ball so much better with Jordan Canada at the top of the floor for them she's a point guard who thinks pass first she's coming off a 15- 10 game and Tina Charles is having her way with the front line of Indiana one straight please Charles with nine points and two rebounds here in the first half that'll put her into double digits Charles by the way needs to average 9.5 rebounds the rest of the way to move in to number one to catch Sylvia fouls she's at 9.4 this season to be right at her average Indiana turns it over again this is turnover number eight and Charles can't finish underneath can't make the fever pay he been a little sloppy with it here so far and that continues Mitch lost a handle on that one but the previous one that pass is too flat and too lateral too long across the top of the floor how darting inside lays it in and Christy sides has quickly seen enough alltime leaders as Clark is encroaching all sorts of rarified air here late in her rookie season third all time and points scored Boston lost the handle on her way up Finds Its way and that's over and back right there that is over and back so the the mental focus has slipped a little bit here since we've since the Indiana Fever have clinched the playoffs watch this right here there it's a busy place you see it on a game day walking around the streets the amount of 20 and royalties is top of the list for Me Howard hoist out of the timeout Atlanta might have had a little bit language it's not good basketball body language and Ryan Howard is on fire she has size she is determined she has a complete skill set 30o performances she's got 19 here early in the third what he had done that for Atlanta again since Angel m p in 2013 you remember we talked about the free throw line and they had not been going to the free throw line they've been two trips already here in less than two minutes Smith is blocked in a foul on the reverse you know it's it's kind of ironic right the body language was so opposite against Minnesota in the second half right I mean upset complaining you Clark calmly knocks down the free throw so Indiana goes up two possessions help if anybody comes to the ball hole Howard on the drive Howard flips it up hang shot too strong gets a rebound ball loose
