news here on CBS Sports HQ Los Angeles Rams wide receiver puka ncua is headed to IR that's according to head coach Shawn McVey that puts him on the shelf for at least the next four games Nuka was hurt while going down for a catch during the second quarter of the Rams lost to Detroit on Sunday night he was assessed in the blue tent and later carded to the locker room Thea did suffer a Bersa sack injury in his right KNE during training camp and missed most of it all right let's bring in Mr football game plan emry hunt for more on this first Emory your reaction here because obviously this is a big big loss for this Los Angeles Rams receiving Corp it's unfortunate because you have a guy that was a superstar in the making he had a great rookie season last year and what this does for the Rams passing game is affect the cohesiveness and continuity and that's what really makes a receiving core you had Cooper Cup in tow you got puka noua you have those guys locked in with Matthew Stafford and you need those guys to be on the same Accord with your quarterback because you have some offensive line issues as well so when you have to break in a new receiver it can throw a lot of things off can force a quarterback to hold a football a little bit too long than he wants to so it's going to be a big loss but we'll see how they recover with some of the guys that they have on a roster yeah let's talk about some of these guys because obviously Cooper Cup's going to there's going to be a lot more uh placed onto him in terms of emphasis certainly defensively and offensively but uh taking a look at some of these other receivers in that room I mean Demarcus Robinson is your wide receiver three 2 two Atwells there uh Jordan Whittington Tyler Johnson kind of walk us through who some of these guys are well when you talk about Robinson he's going to have to step up and be that wide receiver too that you spoke of Tut two at well to me is still their Wild Card their big Play Type guy he's the smallest receiver but can make those big plays kind of like Tyler Lockett can for the Seattle Seahawks the guy to keep an eye on to be completely honest is Tyler Johnson he was a superstar coming out of Minnesota had a great All-Star Game circuit that year as well career didn't really get off to a great start and start how he wanted it to out there in Tampa but you saw last night he had a big game against the Detroit Lions he may be the one to step up in that role and what they do well with Winnington they get him involved in all places of the receiving course so he's someone that can play the X he can play the Z he can play the slot and what the Rams do really well with their receiving core they like to stack them and bunch them so they communicate well they find voids in the defense and that's how you see one of those guys always popping open on one of those low-level crossers or mid-level crossers and as long as they can continue to work together as a unit by themselves as a receiving Corp they'll work well with Matthew Safford but Tyler Johnson is the one who had a big game is the one I feel like is going to be called upon to step up and make them some things happen because he has first round of talent a second straight season that the Rams have suffered a big injury at their receiving core ler was Cooper cop that allowed the emergence of pukan AA this year it's pukan AA going on the IR at least for the next four games 105 receptions almost 1500 yards receiving last year for the Rams all right the Green Bay Packers announced this afternoon that Malik Willis will be their starter for week two with Jordan love on the Shelf what do you make of this news Emory in terms of Malik Willis now stepping in to run this offense well football is a game of redemption Jeremy when you think about the last time we saw Malik Willis in the preseason at Tennessee he was having a really good preseason so to see him get traded was a shock because okay he had his best preseason I felt like as a pro and now they shipped him off well you get another opportunity to showcase your skill set not only for a Green Bay Long Term but for maybe one of these quarterback needy teams that don't want to reach for a QB in a draft and can find yourself starting for someone else Allah Baker Mayfield and S Sam darnold so for Malik Willis this is a great opportunity he has a very good back in Josh Jacobs that he can hand the football to very good wide receivers the only issue is he just got there so we'll see if the continuity is going to be there with the receiver the cohesiveness and that's going to be what we have to watch for moving forward but we know he can run we know he's starting to uh see the passing game a lot better at least we saw that in Tennessee this summer and also throughout the preseason so we'll see what happens against uh the next opponent with Green Bay and that's going to be what we'll watch for for Malik Willis but this is the opportunity that you want if you're a quarterback hey I get a second chance a second swing at a starter uh job starting job for Willis and the Indianapolis Colts coming to Lambo this week listed as slight favorites on Monday afternoon Mr football game plan Emory hunt joining us to discuss some of the big stories in the NFL this afternoon puka AA headed headed to ir and Malik Willis now the starter in Green Bay with Jordan love uh out and you see the eagle schedule there we mentioned the Colts coming to town and then they go to the Titans in week three Vikings in week four and then at the Rams who will be without PUK a in week five all right let's talk fantasy with Adam AER here from fantasy football today uh we're talking about the puka AA news he's headed to IR so he's going to be out for the next four weeks Adam if you're a fantasy owner we've got some upstairs that were that that were saying some not nice things because the you know they've they now they've got to make a move in order to address this pukan AA situation what's your advice to Fantasy managers well hopefully you have some depth on your bench it's going to be really tough to replace PUK Ando with somebody on the waiver wire but obviously if you do need something go right to the Rams and Demarcus Robinson he's a guy who actually had a very strong finish to the year last season in his last six games he scored 13.2 or more PPR fantasy points in four of six games that included a week 18 game where he barely played because they didn't need him so he had a strong finish last year he had seven Targets in this game and I like him better than Tyler Johnson Tyler Johnson was a a little bit gimmicky uh with what he did he had one catch that went for I think 63 yards he spun away from a tackler and got a big gain out of it but want consistent guy who's going to run better routes and give you a little bit more consistent production I think that's going to be Demarcus Robinson and he's only 8% rostered um you see the receiving core here I'm anybody else from this group here it's just going to be mostly these guys Tyler Johnson in super deep leagues you can definitely take a look because he did have seven targets it's something to be said about that I would look at Brandon Cooks especially if Jake Ferguson misses some time which may not happen looks like we may have dodged a bullet there with Jake Ferguson but Brandon Cooks is a guy who's 55% roster and he gets Jacksonville and the Giants the next couple weeks and then there are some other players Gabe Davis is out there Rasheed Shahed is about 50% rostered and he didn't have a lot of targets but he had the big play but they barely threw the ball the Saints they're going to have to throw the ball more certainly this week against Dallas so we got some options out there but if you want to look at the Rams it's Demarcus Robinson who I think is going to be basically a number three receiver uh while out analy Adam merer joining us here on CBS Sports HQ okay so the other news this afternoon late this afternoon was Malik Willis being named the starter in green is this a guy that if you're looking for a quarterback you take a flyer on right now oh absolutely not no chance unfortunately I think this is more bad news for wide receivers obviously we're losing Jordan love but unless it's a super Flex again honestly in a super Flex League I would be looking at running backs and wide receivers that I would start over Malik Willis There is almost no scenario which I'm starting mik Willis he just hasn't been a good enough quarterback at this level and yeah I mean I Heard Em talking about about this is another opportunity for him and it's a great opportunity for him and you think about the difference between on playing on those Titans teams and playing on this Packers team with this receiving core and this offensive mind behind him and I do I love the opportunity for him and I'm very hopeful for him but you've got to see something first he has not done enough and just to continue our pukan AA conversation we didn't just lose PUK and AA we lost Christian Watson and Jaden Reed as reliable starters here I think these guys are bench players now and Romeo dos and Dante and Wicks to so I'm pretty much hands off other than Josh Jacobs completely hands off of the Green Bay Packers one providing plenty of questions for Fantasy owners out there all right Adam AER joining us from fantasy football today uh thanks Adam good stuff as always foree [Music] h [Music] we [Applause] [Music] spe [Music] spe [Music] spee [Music] for fore [Music]
