How Did Martinez Do As The Starter? Are Perez And Corral Done For? 2024 NFL Week 3 Preseason Review

Intro hey guys Z Fox here and today to time do the last preseason UFL QB video where we look at all the UFL QBs in the NFL preseason now like the last couple of videos we're going to be going over each guys seeing exactly how well they played or if they played and this is the final one address How likely they are to actually make a roster of practice squad now just like the other couple of ones I've done if you're here for just one of the three quarterbacks there are time stamps Down Below in the description for you to click on first we're doing Martinez then we're doing Perez and then last we're going to be talking about carral so without further Ado let's get start with Adrian Martinez now as for Adrian Martinez Adrian Martinez it's a mixed bag in a sense of there was one really good thing but in the end we know it's a bad thing he did start this game and we'll play some highlights you know he had a couple good runs couple decent passes again the fact is that Martinez looked basically like he's done the past couple of games so I have a couple highlights but overall didn't play fully complete game again not terrible not great he did outplay peacefully to some degree the fact that peley didn't really throw that many passes and only went five of 11 isn't great but his 75 yards were definitely a lot better than Martinez's 99 and 12 completions so it's debatable there but Martinez finally showed some more ground game which he hadn't done since the first week of the preseason but it was overall solid his 12 of 20 for 99 yards did lead the team which wasn't a ton again and his 23 yards rushing weren't insane even on three carries but what was impressive was the fact that once again the Jets did score points under him they won this game because of Martinez's offense and you know the overall play of the team he played the first half they put up 10 points pely paid the second played the second half and scored zero points look let's be very clear this job is for the temporary qb3 job you're not making an active roster spot more than likely more than likely they're not carrying three QBs on their active roster the job for the qb1 is Rogers the QB two job is Ty rods it's just that simple this is to be a practice squad quarterback that's essentially what this battle is and even then it's temporary until whenever Jordan Travis gets healthy because whenever he's healthy odds are he's going to overtake Martinez or peley now the good thing is that it looks very much likely that Martinez will be that practice squad quarterback the fact is he did get the start over Peasley and he did overall play good enough considering he was going against better competition than he had been the past couple weeks he did not look s substantially worse than the past couple of weeks despite playing better competition whereas pely also looked about the same but played slightly worse comp comption so kind of weird I view it but the point is Martinez did get the start and he once again showed that he can have you know a threat on the ground and overall he's a more exciting player than pely and I think that overall he pretty much solidified that temporary qb3 job again we won't know for sure till tomorrow but all in all it looks currently like Martinez will be beating pely for that job now again it is a temporary job but as I've talked about before and knock on wood this is a job where you could become the starter Rogers and Tyrod are both very injury prone Rogers has had multiple season ending injuries in his career Tyrod has had a bunch of minor to decent Siz injuries in his career it is very possible that Martinez could end up starting a game if the Jets don't sign any other quarterback and they get unlucky with the injury bug again you don't hope that to happen but it is something to note that this is a very important qb3 job because both the qb1 and qb2 are injury prone but overall again it's you know it's a double-edged sword it's great Martinez got the start it's great that he looked like he's going to beat pely for that job it's just that that job is the qb3 for a temporary time until whenever Travis is healthy now granted that could be for almost the entire season where they you know he gets to be the qb3 in the practice squad but we'll see overall there's not much to say Martinez is probably going to win that battle but the war is to make a roster he will win that it just won't be the active roster it be the practice squad roster now the next QB is Luis Pere who let's just make Luis Perez it somewhat brief he didn't even play right at best he's going to be on the practice squad as their qb3 he didn't play at all they played East stick the whole time Harbaugh made it a big deal say that he was only going to play stick the fact that stick didn't even look that good his 187 yards in a TD interception is heavily inflated by that one great pass to Simi fok foko but it was still one pass it was great but it was like a 75ish yard pass so if you eliminate that one TD pass that's 11 of 28 for barely 110 yards that's a terrible stat line so if you eliminate that one great pass to Simi it was an awful game for stick but the fact is that's what he's been doing stick has looked bad in every preseason game and the fact that Harbaugh is still running with him as the backup quarterback and the guy who played the whole game shows that pre is done he again at best will be that practice squad guy the fact is he did out he did beat Max Dugen for the qb3 job at the moment and considering Max Dugen was drafted by the Chargers not the Harbaugh regime but still drafted by the Chargers shows that there is legit shot that Perez can stick around as a practice squad guy better to have somebody around the facility who knows the Playbook who knows all the plays and stuff to be able to come in as a backup or starter pending how injuries play out who knows exactly what happens with Herbert if does he come back a bit early and get hurt does stick come in and play terribly like he's been doing we'll see but overall for Perez it's he's going to be a qb3 he will be on the practice squad more than likely unless they sign somebody because again there are some guys we know Mike White recently got released and he's somebody that is a very serviceable backup who can be a good starter in very very very short bursts but still can be so as for perz it sucks for him that he didn't even get a a shot against the Cowboys stick didn't even look good again which again hurts Perez even more the fact that stick has looked bad in every game yet Perez didn't even get a shot is what it is onto Matt carral who as for carral Matt Corral he did play in this game but he went forward of six for 13 yards three carries for neg3 yards he's not on this roster he won't even make it the practice squad let's put it very simply let's put it simply if they run with three QBs which I doubt it he still probably won't look he was only brought in because JJ got hurt and they need a body okay darnold's the starter Nick Mullins is the backup and jiren Hall is the third string it just is how it is cral was lucky to get any game time here again this is another one of those you know it better safe than sorry have a guy on get him a few reps here and there let him understand some of the Playbook to potentially come in later in the year if injuries happen to be a backup but again crra is not going to see the field of this team he is not going to make this roster and he won't make the practice squad he didn't outplay jiren Hall in the very limited time he played in again jiren Hall had a really good game all in all he looked really solid so crra is definitely not beating him and Nick Mullin is the backup for a reason and darn is the starter for a reason so for crra it's over again Perez and Martinez most likely will be practice squad quarterbacks but Matt caral he's going to have to hope that he gets signed somewhere else or he's just going to have to go back to the UFO the Birmingham stallions which we'll see if that ends up happening so I'll do it for this video this has been Z Fox if you enjoy this
