to start off the very first game in Bob you know it kind of just shows how fired up we all are for the season you know um we weren't going to let anything drop and just keep that going and we could feel that energy so it was great would you say there was anything the team really focused on to try to approve from first game second uh I think going in we knew that obviously Kentucky and Texas ADM Corpus cury were a little bit different U levels so I think a big thing for us was just going to be um stay disciplined and do everything that we do at Nebraska volleball I think sometimes um especially in preseason when you play teams you're not really used to playing it can be difficult sometimes to get in the groove against different teams because they might do different things so we talked a lot about just staying disciplined and doing us well and just trusting that we know how to do what we're doing and I think we executed that very well tonight ber like your second year serving in college matches I mean you change anything mentality or technique in second year um not really we're kind of focusing on my toss right now just keeping it on the right side of my body during spring it got a little bit on the left side but other than that just keeping it consistent was kind of fun to find different ways to contribute I think you had a number of kills in the third set then couple Big Blocks in the third I mean what did you feel like the game was just flowing through you tonight or how did it feel out there yeah I think my team was is doing a really good job of putting me in good positions out there um and we had a really great Scouting Report so I knew exactly where to go on block so that helped too but I think just when one thing isn't going right you find another thing to go right and I think that was kind of what was going through my head tonight would feel like get getting Taylor and Lea their first kill with the tuskers it was so cool I think we talked about it in the locker room it was such a seamless transition having them both come in and that's really special to be able to do on a team because that can be hard sometimes putting two new people in and um we didn't miss a beat so I think that that was really awesome for them and shows a lot to them of our trust in them Taylor came in in the third set had four kills hit 500 what can you say about the depth that you guys have at outside yeah I think it's something that we pride ourselves on every day in the gym and it's something that you know coming to Nebraska you know that everything's going to be a competition nothing's going to be handed to you and I think that's something that we really work on every day in the gym it's like we're each other's best friends we're each other's biggest cheerleaders but we're also other's biggest competition but you don't let that get in the way of any sort of relationships and I think that's something that Nebraska um it's done so well for so long you know like we know that we're competitors but at the same time we don't let that get in the way of our trust and our relationships with one another and that's what makes us so successful so were you fired up when Taylor got that first kill yeah of course same with Lea how do you take I mean you're bouncing back tomorrow night play TCU Melanie par is very good how do you handle that transition and kind of get ready for tomorrow yeah we've just we took it one game at a time we haven't looked at them a lot yet so um we're going to look at them a little bit tonight a little bit tomorrow morning and then we have practice tomorrow but just taking it one game at a time and just overall playing Husker volleyball we'll have a couple tweaks that we want to make and um a couple things we find in The Scouting Report but other than that we just stick to Our Roots and we'll be okay any other questions Lind you just again first match back in De last year too feel feel like home again yeah I mean it was it was so great it um I obviously missed playing here and so getting to open up obviously not at Bob it was very different I know we're very grateful for getting to go play in Kentucky but it was something that I definitely missed so getting to be back in here it's just something unlike anywhere else and we know that you know so it was just super great to be back could ask for a much better start than that 10 run could you no no you couldn't all right thank you thank you thank you e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e that's a good win lost five Houston wow shoot they always go five anyway uh um crowd was really fired up tonight it was excited to be here you could feel the buzz in the arena I thought Corpus Chrissy after the first 15 points played some really good volleyball you for their size and what they do they're they're very well coached and they cover amazing they don't make errors I mean how many they had 11 attackers I just you know and some of those might have been just plays at the net we you know we won the the Jou at the net or or something like that but I mean it just felt like they never give you points you have to really earn them so it was a really good test for us and we did some nice things serving and um killing the ball and thought we passed pretty good tonight so good effort and the other thing I was most pleased about is I you know subbed out players in the and we changed the lineup in the third game and we didn't miss a beat and that's uh sometimes when we do that it it it backfires a little bit so really really pleased with all that how much of that 10of start do you credit to the atmosphere I think it's the atmosphere and it's their first match match you know their first real match I'm sure they played an exhibition and played some other teams but it's their first match they're here you know and that coach never calls timeout I don't did he even call one timeout I mean he had some challenges okay he could finally call maybe one but he let some play which I like it but if you watch their faces they it doesn't phase them and I was that's another thing I was really impressed with was just their composure their uh um you know they didn't get rattled even though we Bergen was on fire serving and and then they started passing pretty good after that first part of it but I think it's yeah when you play in here and it's it's uh it's an intimidating Place how do you feel like Taylor played with brought her in there the she thought she did did well it's hard coming off the bench but you know we we've been working last couple days on her really hitting the ball hard and she's she's swung hard tonight what do you like I think that left front player is going to be remembering that hit for a while there's not many players that can do that uh what do you like about Andy serving you left her in a couple times to serve for herself what do you like about her back there she's a great server she and again when uh with the way we're subbing right now she's going to have to serve in Long Long games so uh she had a great run tonight she's a great server in practice she gets in the game she gets a little tentative still so but the other thing is you know you saw she played defense she made a couple digs they they tried to dump on her which they always do and she got that one up so uh you know she and she got experience doing that with USA so you know she's hitting that ball so high it's it's a dangerous serve when she really gets a hold of it were you able to get a good scouting report on them for for a match no no they we had one from last year they completely changed and remember they that's their whole they returned their whole team uh and they just only accept a Setter and she's a transfer from San Diego she's Leela's buddy she did a really nice job so that's a very experienced team I'll be willing to bet they win their conference and which I think they did last year and and uh but they're very well coached I mean they're man they do a nice job they're all always in position was very impressed with them what do you think of the rodeo Club outside before for the festivities the The Bash loved it went out there talked to Cowboys and uh took a bunch of pictures met two people from ericon Nebraska so it was it was it was cool beautiful day out again a shout out to our marketing department for putting that on and people look like they're having a great time I wanted to go play cornhole for money or rope for money but I didn't have time because there other match going on how I mean Bergen was doing a little bit of everything me started the game with her serve got more aggressive with her attacks in the second and then block in the third I mean not Mar me uh Bergen uh is this the type of match you need from her to be more active involved in every game of the game yep she's said she's got to do it all and uh we challenged her to be more aggressive attacking and she did well at Kentucky and did well tonight because teams just ignore her so she's got to make them pay when they don't block her you know if she can hold a block it just it opens up everything for other hitters so she's doing she's gotten a really good feel of how to do that last year I was had to get on her all the time about hey you got you got to attack but sometimes Setters you know they just they just want to hey I want to get my hitters good sets and they don't think about it but she's gone you know to another level to be able to do that what were your impressions of M far tonight she's a real deal she's GNA it's going to be a great match so she she's really good she's got a a gnarly serve she hits front row back row really well she moves it around she's very composed so I don't I don't was she an all American last year yeah but I was very impressed tonight TCU is a good team was one of the reason we wanted to play him they wanted to come here they're a
