Intro/2023 Season Review what is up everybody welcome back to the channel we're back with our top 25 series and we're finished this is number one we got Ohio State Buckey out there we're gonna be giving you a 2024 preview going over what they brought in the best team money can buy sorry I had to throw that in there for my buck guy fans out there we're gonna talk about all the transfers you guys brought in your recruiting class which you guys absolutely crushed this year and let me diving in kind of what the offens and defense is going to look like what do we expect from this what is you know looking at their schedule you know can they kind of make that playoff but before we do that we have to REM reminisce a little bit about last year's team just talking about what they at they finished 11- two last year ninth and 10th in the final AP poll kind of around there um overall okay last year in terms of you know most teams would be very happy with last year's uh performance not Ohio State you know Kord had an up and down year you know 3,000 yards 24 touchdowns six interceptions but didn't end up transferring to Syracuse Tron Henderson again was good when he's out there Health was a concern you have tram there like didn't necessarily have that backup R running back on that side offensively from a receiving perspective mechuka was hurt for most of the year I mean he did play 10 games but he was definitely banged up they had Marvin Arison Jr so you can't really complain about that he was very very solid for them um but the big thing is they lost to Michigan right so they were undefeated going to the Michigan game they lost there and then they lost to Missouri in a performance that everybody wants to forget if you're an Ohio State fan I mean 314 they didn't really want to be there it was one of those things that hey yes they lost and it was definitely kind of a black eye a little bit on Ryan day but this is a big big year for Ryan day this is a huge year for him as a coach when you're 2024 Offense looking at offensively I mean they're going to be better this year they're loaded at every skill position like always and last year's team I think from an offensive standpoint they're actually 35th in the nation in points per game yards per game they're 45th so again we didn't see that explosive offense that we saw from CJ stra Justin Fields those type of guys um rushing standpoint rushing offense wasn't great you know Rush play percentage was about 76 in the nation yards per Rush at 66 4.2 rushes per game they were almost a h 100th and in yards per game they were 76 they did not average that much on the ground which for Force K mord to kind of be that guy and he was never that guy I I think that's the other area and who they bring in I guess we'll talk about it but we might as well jump into it you know is Will Howard that guy right so they bring him in from the transfer portal um other guys in this offense but their offense is loaded from a skill position standpoint they are loaded they are loaded I we have to talk about will Howard but first I want to talk about the top overall alltime recruit that they're bringing in who's an immediate starter at an Ohio State program that's historically put out wide receiver after wide receiver and that is Jeremiah JJ Smith um cousin of Gino Smith uh not that that really matters because Jeremiah Smith might already be better than Gino Smith is at football um this kid came in uh in early in the spring and just started dominating he is the probably their number one wide receiver already as a true freshman he's built in a lab he's got Julio Jones comparisons and if they are to take a step forward on offense um or I guess not really the craziest thing that I think I'm gonna say out loud right now is I don't think they're gonna miss Marvin Harrison Jr because of Jeremiah Smith and I Marvin Harrison Jr obviously we know what he was for them but I think they have you know a better overall skill position group um will Howard is better than than k how much better I don't know but how much better did they need from Kord last year to get over that hump I think that's a a small margin um I think I have some issues with their offensive line I think they're gonna be a little bit better Josh Simmons was good at times last year Donovan Jackson had a weird year uh we talked about it pre-show this has been more of a finesse offensive line and so part of the problem with not running the ball was they couldn't open lanes for trayon Henderson so now you've got quinshon jins in there who can you know take a beating in between the tackles a little bit better than trayon can I think all set up for this offense to be a little more efficient than they were under kamic cord um I I think they're going to try to run the ball a lot more this year and hopefully that offensive line can can make that happen um but the two big questions offensive line and quarterback are questions that you don't want to have if your expectation as a national title so um it's certainly a question mark we're going to have to see it on the field but I I I'm optimistic at this point I guess yeah and I and I get this a lot I've Gott this a lot from Ohio State fans because you guys you know you guys like to say this you're like well will Howard we just need him to run yeah he does open up that rushing ability he does he has that ability there but at some point in the playoff in the Big 10 against Michigan against the other teams out the Oregon you're gonna have to throw the football right you can't just be Oregon through the Run you're going to have to throw and you're going to have to have that passing option there and I think a big thing and is a I really like as much as I hate Ohio State so Ohio State fans out there I'm a Michigan fan so just so you're aware so drop it in the comments you can talk all the crap you want you know the biggest thing is I love a mechaba I've always really liked a mechuka I think he's one of their solid pieces out there I think he's getting hated on for a down year he was injured I think two years ago you could argue that he's better than Marvin Harrison Jr like from a metric standpoint from two seasons ago you're like man this kid is that good they were talking about amca being wide receiver W last year and top 10 pick like that's the kind of value he is if he comes back like that this this wide receiver room yeah they won't miss Marvin because I think they're going to be more balanced I think with Carell Jeremiah Smith and them there and G Scott junior is not a bad option either in the passing game like he's a pretty good they don't ever use tight ends that's my big thing with them they never use it but he definitely can be that piece for this quarterback for will Howard there um but you know Notable Losses when you're on House St you lose guys Marvin Harrison Jr 1,200 yards last year 14 touchdowns Matthew Jones I mean comic cord is kind of there Kate Stover was a very very solid piece for them 576 yards and five touchdowns last year from that room Julian Fleming obviously transferred over to Penn State and a chip traum they lost some guys I think it starts Marvin Harrison Jr but there's so much talent at the wide receiver position Ohio State I mean it hurts but man they replenish pretty well they do I we didn't even talk about like Brandon inis and milin Graham and all these other guys that like would start everywhere else literally everywhere else I love Brandon inis man like he's one yeah yeah he's he's a good player um Cade Stover is a massive loss to me because when that offensive line was struggling to block Cade Stover was out there blocking um and G Scott he doesn't like to do that and when he does he normally gets like penalties because he starts fighting people so um you know that happened more than once that's the only reason I'm referencing it stop yelling at me Ohio Stans but I think they're going to need to find a tight end that can be on the field and blocking maybe that's galani Thurman um maybe G Scott takes a step forward but I do think that that's a bigger loss than a lot of people are letting on obviously the pass catching stuff isn't huge but tight ends do more than that cage Stover was a great move piece for them last year um so we'll see how they they replace that but outside of that I mean you know we already just talked about how great their offense is going to be so I don't I don't think we're too worried at this point no no not at all and and they did a great job bringing in 2024 Offensive Recruits the recruits right so we're talking about the recruiting class overall they were number three now this is from a you know 247 Sports we're going to talk about Julian S okay he's on our key transfers because technically he's ranks as a transfer right now as a festar kid but bringing in mil Graham mil Graham is a very good player why he is you know number 12 rated wide receiver any other place they be talking about this guy like he's cam Coleman from Auburn or these other guys like he is very solid James peoples is a very solid running back as well um Ian Moore ma Max blong they did a great job of kind of addressing needs I'm interested to see what happens with Aaron Oland I know that he was their big git and then Julian San's there now um I think Aaron Olan might be the a guy out that he will transfer but again he's a good get there um this collapes around Jeremiah Smith but don't sleep on Ming Graham I think miling Graham when you're looking at overall with what he can do I think he's very very solid even as a Jor at over 1100 yards 13 touchdowns and his big thing was man he averaged 23.9 yards per reception and he's just a big play guy and I know they comped him to CD lamp which I love because as a Cowboy fan so that's interesting that you know we're talking about all these guys it's like oh yeah they also have Miley Graham a CD lamb comp yeah Graham should push Jaden Ballard out of the rotation if if I had to guess I think this is going to be an interesting thing to monitor through the first few weeks uh to be honest because I think if Graham starts to get on the field a little bit um this could be a very young but very talented wide receiver core I do want to mention the twins uh at offensive tackle Devonte and Deontay Armstrong um they're they're Ohio guys so I got to watch some of their playoff run in high school uh underrated recruits they should not have been three stars I think they both should have been four stars um honestly I confuse them all the time I'm not sure which one was the left tackle uh in school but whoever the left tackle is is the one that I think could get into a bit of a rotation if things go south this year um I know Ohio State fans are hating on missing on this offensive tackle class they didn't I I don't think they did I think they got two really really good offensive tackles here yeah and I mean and even more man interior offensive lineman 66 317 like they did a great job of addressing that need I think Ryan Day realizes they need to kind of go off to that line and they did it did a good job there and in transfers Key Offensive Transfers I mean what can you say Coan jins is a stud will Howard Julian saan as I said he did technically transfer from Alabama say mavin and in will c um kacar I don't know how to say that I don't really care uh but Julian saying to me like I like this I hate that I like these guys like for my H but he I think they got a dude um he got his black stripe off early he's very very good quarterback and I think Unfortunately they got a guy here that's going to challenge will Howard that's what going to ask you do you think Julian San is the starter in the playoff when we get there I see it's it's hard because I think that will Howard's good enough to get him there like I think will Howard and I think that Ryan Day knows he's coaching for his job this year I don't care what a hot State fans say like I think that if you lose michig again there's so much pressure there um can he trust a true freshman right can he trust putting him in there with the talented backs that you have back there but if you get in the playoff it could be like that remember the Tua situation where he came in and he won and and Jaylen hert t area like there's a chance that that happens I think that is what you're looking at with Julian saying like hey this kid's killing in practice all the time oh my gosh we're down 14 and a half to this team in the playoff hey we need s to come in and kind of throw that I I could see that definitely happening I mean shoot I wouldn't be surprised if Devon Brown was in that mix as well because I like Devon Brown I know they're showing against Missouri um in the short time that he was actually healthy in that game wasn't great but yeah I mean this transfer class when you get two guys that we're talking about um potentially being starting quarterbacks at some point this year and sayan's a really good piece I think you're right ER Nolan's going to be the guy out because um super interesting that sayyan was already at Alabama and was like yeah I'm out of here um but quinton's the big piece to me obviously because just it gives you a different dynamic in that that running back room that is much much more um I guess efficient even though jkin isn't the most efficient back in the world but he's more efficient than Mayan Williams and and Chip trainum so I think that's a a really good get and and a nice little power to trayvon's finesse I guess yeah no 100% I I think that was I mean yeah they look at the impact Impact Players - Offense players they crushed it here trayon Henderson who I think is still one of the best backs in in college football I think he's a three- down guy pass catcher if he stays healthy him and Judkins are they are the best two running backs at duo in in college football I don't think it's close I think those two guys there deemi Smith abuka yes and to me aa coming out and reestablished himself as wide receiver one obviously the big play you know for Smith but Uka can give them that kind of possession guy you know over the-middle tough catches leadership that's the guy to me that can be their impact player yeah I I mean look up and down the roster Carell tapate could probably be on this list I just you know it's funny that I I put will Howard on here because I think while we've talked about this skill group like it's really hard for a quarterback to fail with this group I still could see that happening with how uh you know will Howard plays I think he's a safe quarterback and I think that'll help but I think this team goes however far will Howard goes and that's kind of a a weird spot to be in maybe not a great spot to be in yeah and when you look at the defensive side man 2024 Defensive Breakdown damn it Jim nolles is just creating a juggernaut last year here's the thing about this defense last year was probably the like pretty close to being complete year and they they were they crushed it like number two in points per game allowed 11.6 that's all allowed opponent yards per game number number three they only a they only allowed 268 points or yards excuse me last a game last year that is incredible they went after the quarterback you saw that sack percentage was around 6.9% um from like a you know pass defense they were very very good they only gave up five yards per pass that is Inc number one in the nation like they were great nolles had it cooking out there and you know what they're even better this year like they are going to be better this is the number one defense in college football and I think this is where I go back to it like hey if they got this defense they don't need Howard to do too much they just need to get this defense a chance especially with Caleb DS those guys coming but this they had guys coming back right jack Sawyer JT all those guys that go win a title this this is a complete defense this is the most complete defense in college football easily this defense could challenge that Georgia defense yeah that we talk about all yeah it's I you know I guess if I had to pick a a weakness of this defense it' just be depth behind the starters um specifically on that edge but like JT Tui mooa and Jack Sawyer coming back is as massive a get as any other transfer that they got in um including the offensive side like uh and then being able to bring in Caleb DS to add him to this already Elite defense you just look up and down that there is no true weakness in this starting lineup um and then even you know some of the depth guy like Styles and CJ Hicks are probably going to rotate at at linebacker there both of those guys are elite players um you know Denzel Burke took a massive step forward last year uh igin oen was really really good at times last year uh Jordan Hancock in the slot with uh Lorenzo Styles former wide receiver coming in learning a new position and probably getting into a rotation there just I this defense is going to be the most fun to watch in college football but yeah bar nun I think this is the best defense in college football right now yeah no 100% I think they are I mean they've done a great job there and then Notable Losses like losses yeah they lost steel Chambers 83 tackles last year you know you know 42 assists one and a half um loss no sacks though with for there timeing Tommy ikenberg yes 82 tackles there so technically they lost the two top T you know tackles on the team however the the the stuff they have coming back I mean it's just they were able to replenish and replace and they did a great job of that um and you're looking at sack Getters and all that stuff I mean these guys are right here I mean Michael Hall was okay last year one and a half sacks he had 24 tackles but I don't think huge losses yes they lost their two top tackle Getters but even then I this defense isn't gonna miss a step yeah Michael Hall was notable for getting into the back field and and just wreaking havoc apparently he does that at home too um but uh you know the losing those two top tackle Getters I think you know you you replace them with guys that should have been probably in the rotation already um and and playing a lot more already so I don't think you're gonna feel it as much but it was really cool to watch steel Chambers um kind of develop as a linebacker so yeah um and and man it talk about two players that just fly around the field in Chambers and ikenberg they're gonna still have that so it's not huge but like um it's still you know impactful guys that they had last year yeah no 100% when you look at the recruiting 2024 Defensive Recruits class again they did a very good job here edri Houston is the big one they talked about him number s DL last year coming in 47 Sports uh they went out of Georgia Buford and got this kid and that's a big gift for them in terms of where they went and and they love this kid I think the scouts love him as well big kid when you're looking at that 269 already um very very athletic they talked about him he was very good as a junior he had over 10 sacks that year um senior kind of dipped a little bit I think the big red flag for me is when I read through a Scot reports I talked about it they said if the coaches get his motor going like so I it sounds like he's very talented but if there's anybody that's going to get this guy going as nolles he'll he'll get him going like there there's a potential get in here if you want to be an NFL draft pick go Aaron Scott Jr is good Bryce West pton Pierce Garrett Stover those guys they did a very good job of filling these needs I really like these Corner recruits um you know Bryce West is you know maybe a little bit undersized but when you talk about these guys in a few years I think we're going to talk about high NFL draft selection of course Aaron Scott Jr uh really good length um we talk about this all the time on these but I love Corners that can can press and get into guys um they've got that with him and then the other guys are nice like secondary pieces I think West has the opportunity to be a number one corner down the road um and then you know just a ton of four-star guys uh that I think are gonna be impact players down the road but really none of these guys should should hit the field all that much this year uh unless you know they experience some injuries but really this is a a wait and see year with this recruiting class yeah and really Caleb Downs damn it yeah yeah ah kills me that you went there because he's such a fun Key Defensive Transfers player they just released like all the different award watch list preseason watch list I swear to God Caleb DS is on every single defensive award watch list I mean that's just how good he is um he is definitely special I mean he's the reason I put this defense over the top I think to where they could be challenging as one of the best defenses last 15 20 years he's an ultimate ultimate piece chess piece back there for this for this team um and they did a good great job as much as I hat it and and Keenan nson isn't bad either from South Carolina like he's you know 511 195 he was a four-star kid coming into school I mean he's a guy that definitely gives him some depth yep he he does but uh Caleb DS might be the best true freshman I've ever watched play football so um and maybe they challenge that with with Jeremiah Smith but I just remember watching Caleb DS over and over last year every time I would watch the Alabama defense I was like yeah I'd rather watch this kid and and doing that as a true freshman is just kind of unfathomable even you know we talked about Georgia in the last one Malachi Starks is a freshman there were times where you were like oh we see it but there were times where he would have some blunders that wasn't real for Caleb DS and so when you add him to an already Elite defense it's just kind of not fair honestly it's really not you should CB Downs F trans frow go somewhere else um Impact Players - Defense but yeah these I mean these guys JT Jack Denzel Caleb these guys are their guys they're going to you know go by them but again they their starters are some of the best starters I've seen in terms of like going through these lists and talking about them and when we talked about Georgia the last one we talked about these top five teams uh Georgia's the closest team on defense like where you're like hey yeah these two will match up very well but I do think that there is definitely a tier even between Oregon and them I think that it's gonna be a hell of a matchup um they have a fun match up going to Oregon playing them we'll talk about that in a second uh but this defense can be up to the task of stopping Dylan Gabriel on that and and getting turnovers and getting after him yeah I I just once again I I just don't see a huge weakness I I would love to see tuy malow and and Sawyer take steps forward as like actual sack Getters um tuy MOA had that like one big Breakout game last year where it was like okay we see it but he was pretty inconsistent at times last year and so if we start to get consistency out of those two as well um along with you know I didn't even put the interior guys on here who absolutely belong Ty Williams is a stud um and so I I think you know you could pick any one of their their starters on defense and say yep impact player so that's a good spot to be in yeah damn it it is now when you looking at over under on 10 and a half they have 2024 Schedule a really cake schedule up until that Oregon game in my opinion at Oregon Nebraska could be interesting but I I have a hard time seeing a true freshman quarterback in Dylan ra going into Ohio State and even getting close in that game at Pinn state you guys always whop pin State's ass I have NE I I do not trust James Franklin in that game in my opinion because I just think that they have their number obviously the big games at the end versus Michigan and Oregon at Oregon like I mentioned but at Oregon versus Michigan at at Penn State I mean those are the teams um where are you at an over and under then over yeah I mean it's this is an over and and I think at Penn State is going to be more of a test to just see what Drew Aller is than anything else I think Ohio State handedly wins that game um but I do think that maybe that Penn State offense can get something going with Andy coton Nikki in charge now uh of that offense and maybe it makes it interesting but this Ohio State team shouldn't lose a game like they shouldn't lose a single game at Oregon's the tough one um the really really tough one at Penn State that's probably going to be the white out if I had to guess and so that's always a tough atmosphere but it shouldn't matter will it matter with Ryan day you know clamping up maybe I mean they could lose to Alex orgy in Michigan again and then we'd be talking about a whole different ball game for Ohio State football but I don't think they're going to I think they're going to be undefeated I think they're going to be the number one team in the nation when all a sudden done I'm gonna say over begrudgingly um but I'm gonna say they lose in Michigan again so I'm G say go 11 and one because I can't I can't I can't hate that there I do I cannot wait to watch um Lanning and day figure out who's going to who's going to make the worst coaching moves to try to lose in their game because I think really comes down a coaching in that game because Landing has his problems too I think Landing struggles in sometimes in G in game and so does day I think he clamps up a little bit with play calling I think Red Zone play calling especially they struggle in those big games where they just can't score right um there's plenty of opportunities for the win the games the last couple years but the Red Zone scoring I think that's just one of those things they've been inefficient for so I will go over to but she's still loses to Michigan for the fourth year in a row all right let's talk about the final Al yeah I mean come on they're one Outro - Overall Outlook of the best programs in the country we know that the way they're now and I do want to say this before Christian kind of gives his final take they opening up nil is going to be huge for them they really didn't open up the nil bank they opened it up that Michigan loss definitely hurt him and then see Michigan win the national title they said all right we're gonna open this bank and they did I mean that's the game right you can't hate them for it that's what you do um they did a great job there and having that open bank now in terms of having that nil and those resources gonna be huge for this program uh but it is going to be interesting I really want to hear the takes so let me know I State fans about Ryan day how are you feel about Ry as your coach I think you know we we mentioned it but that's the key they have the talent do they have the coach and and I think my answer probably would be no um at this time but like I think he skates by because I think that this is a national title team um and it it it's really tough to lose with these players so I think oh State should be the favorite to win the national title I think in that game though we play the quarterback game they're probably not going to have the better quarterback and so that's where I I get a little bit nervous about picking them to win the national title but if there's a year it's this year I think that my conspiracy theory is that Missouri game was uh Ryan day's last push to open up the nil and saying like see look our backups should be able to beat this SEC team but they can't so I need you to to let us have some some money and they certainly have it and and got played so uh they should win the national title Ohio State fans this should be a good year for you but the last few should have been too I've been hearing a lot of things about like oh well if they make the championship game that's a no this to me the ceiling and everything they need to hit is a national championship this is a national championship Squad the people that have return on defense as National Championship the nil if they don't win a National Title I think it's object failure I think Ohio state is the best team they should win a National Title that's that's simple like that's coming from Michigan pin I I I'm I'm not biased I think that Ohio state is definitely the best team out there um and I do think that they should win the national title based on the talent they have and I think out I think I'll have fun watching them play I mean I hope they I hope they lose but I think watching them play and just defensively and all that they're gonna be a hell of a team to watch like you're gonna if you're a football fan you're gonna love watching State play and I really think it comes down to Ryan Day hey got get this team rolling how are you gonna look that and what do you think Ohio State fans let us know in the comments you think guys should be national title you know Nash or a bust you know how would you feel about just making it to the game um but I think you've been there so
