episode numbers but let's just say one thing Mets are coming off of a four game set in San Diego that I would say had a lot of promise at the beginning there was um some hope that the Mets could come away with an advantage but it just did not end the right way the Mets as we can tell by the title of our episode the Mets just kept swapping wins with the Padres on this one the Padre's are a team that are ahead of them by a substantially is amount of games it's five and a half now and let's just say I I I don't want to say this just like three minutes in because I feel like it's a little bit more descriptive than just off the bat but I really feel like I'm in 2019 right now I really do feel like that as to where the Mets continue to get close and close and close to that final wild card spot and then once they have that one chance to finally make a move they fumble it that's how it feels to me that's how it's felt since the allstar break the Mets had a chance to gain some ground on San Diego and on Atlanta and they failed to do so in that final game and that's what is the most frustrating part of it not particularly of you know who gave up what because they've both been somewhat solid since the All-Star break of buo and Diaz but I I just I I really we left that Series where I'm I'm shaking my head I'm really I I I don't know how to feel about that because I feel like there was an advantage that they should have they they should have taken advantage and for some reason they just have not been able to do that yeah I mean I definitely think that there there is a bit of frustration but to go a step further in game two I felt like I was in 2022 with the way Joe Musgrove was pitching against the Mets I mean this is a guy who is not the same pitcher that he was two years ago I mean he was a good pitcher when the Mets squared up against him in that playoff series but he's had a rough year and he came back from injury they show his last couple starts was better wasn't against the great of competition but you wouldn't know by watching him he was maybe even more dominant than he was in 2022 and we had talked about how we thought that maybe this Mets offense was better than 2022 but when you go up against the better pitching like someone like Joe mosgrove all of a sudden they just they can't hit this guy like there's just absolutely nothing there it's it's different when you know you have a game like yesterday where you have the bases loaded and you have Runners on and you're not scoring but to barely just have anybody get on base against Joe musgrow was really just kind of disappointing and overall it's like you start off the series on like a really high note like you win 83 and even if you get a lot of the offense late still it's a it's a nice win so followed up with 7 nothing game you're like oh maybe we're not in getting on the right track and then you win 71 and you're like oh okay here we go we got this we could win the series and then your offense just kind of Falls right back asleep the very next day so it's that constant inconsistency which is really the also very frustrating part and that's kind of how you end up in the position they're in as far as like you said not gaining ground but hey we didn't lose any ground you know because you split the series so I feel like just far too many times they're still findings in the same position they were before and there's a multitude of reasons why and we're going to get into that but I just feel like you said it's just very frustrating when you you have opportunities like especially yesterday's game that was a winable game and it's how you draw it up honestly like you have a lead late and budo and Diaz have been really really good and that's kind of how you want it to be it's like we have a lead late we have our best guys available let's close the door and they don't and it's for some things especially with budo that we've talked about every single episode and it's really really just coming to light as far as the walks with this whole staff and we're going to get to the other coach later on it's just like there are just some things some trends that they have that just overall in the long term are very tough yeah I think uh Frank I yeah your audio cut out there but sure I still I can't hear you I don't know if you guys can hear him but I can't how how about now can you hear me you're good now you're good now okay what I was saying was that uh some of those things that they struggled with all season long it's going to hurt them in the long term as far as like these mistakes that you make whether it's hitting approach pitching approach those kind of things are just going to kind of leave you where you are on the outside looking in where it's like you're doing good but not doing great and I feel like that's kind of where they've been at yeah for the offense there was something that really came to light with the offense in this this series to me and that is more of an offseason topic as to kind of how they can really form their lineup to adjust to some of the pitchers especially some of the high stakes pitchers that throw from certain slots and and then like just throw from taking advantage of AOC or taking advantage of movement from arms side from arms side pitches to left to to um to glove side pitches I mean those are those are the types of things as to where they look at it from matchups and there are a lot of things that maybe they do need to adjust to makebe keep this offense a little bit more uh efficient than it has been even though it has been good there are some things that I feel like can really get exposed in the postseason and it's not really kind of just face value things I think that there's a few things that maybe they need to adjust here that might also let's just say it might cost the casualty of some players that you might not feel comfortable getting rid of and it also might uh it also might uh include maybe uh some pieces that may have been good but I just don't know how they're going to continue to just I I just don't know how they're going to continue with this type of offense and I'm I'm I'm just I'm not saying that it's bad I'm just saying that I don't think that they're in a position as to where they can like just maximize it and just like for like an entire series they can hit you know like for an entire series it's more of a fit issue with some guys I feel like there's a little bit of redundancies and a lot of similar weaknesses as far as like not being able to capitalize on strengths and I feel like that's kind of where it goes like we talk about when they get really hot every more firstand against us I I've seen it more uh firsthand against us as to what uh you know hitters have been able to uh take advantage of uh as compared and that as as compared to some of these guys who are a lot of arms side type of pitchers a lot of these left-handed power bats that are able to turn on like right-handed pitchers and be able to uh lift the baseball and drive the baseball the Mets have a lot of righty righty matchups that go on and it's it I've never been one to really care about the platoon there but it's more of just like the the glove side the glove side arm side type of things as to where they're getting jammed they're chasing a lot of Sliders outside of the zone and we continue to see this as just a constant problem as to where okay maybe the hitting coach needs to fix this or maybe the hitting coach needs to do this and maybe some uh adjustments have to be made but there's also just a kind of kind of feeling that I also have as to where with the hitting that it's just kind of put in those weaknesses by Design and again this is more of an offseason topic of how they kind of can uh form the lineup and I do think that it'll eventually get better better as to where you have a lot of these uh young players coming in who are left-handed and know how to pull the ball and actually like the the the barrel of the bat can actually like uh be uh put uh through all four corners of the zone so I feel like it's going to get better eventually but it's going to take a little bit of a while for them to just kind of adjust to that efficient offense that you get in this league now uh Frank's audio cut out a little bit I don't I don't know what happened there he's going to be fixing that right now but for those of you in the chat right now let us know what your uh thoughts are uh me e coming in in saying that the offense squandered so many opportunities in yesterday's game that is absolutely true saying that blaming Mendoza for yesterday's game is ridiculous listen I I think that I I I think Mendoza has made decisions that have been awkward as to where it looks like he's kind of planning for the next day or planning for uh the day after which is weird but I think that the overall team performance has been warranted this year here as to where we know what they're capable of we know that what they're able to do in these certain situations we've seen them do this in spurts we've seen them do this in stretches that blaming the manager is only going to go so far I mean here's the thing about me I think it was his fault no it it it could have been and it could have been but the problem with the problem with how I I direct it now is especially going into this whole thing of Sterns as to where he likes to kind of like hire guys who um were developed into it through the growing pains kind of just like strip down the organization um from his hires and bring guys in and bring guys in with upside bring guys in from from other different different areas that's something that David Stern has always been been known to do but I I do think that Mendoza made some questionable decisions in this series he definitely did but I have always been one to just really especially recently especially like towards the end of of Buck Showalter I've always been someone who's like okay how many managers are you going to go through like how many managers you going to go through as to where this guy is calling holding us back this is this is the reason as to why the team is losing I mean there's got to be something from within because the Mets have changed managers many many times in the last decade and they have still continued to squander the same problems no matter what it doesn't matter who the face is they've still had the same same issues the same inconsistencies ever since they finally figured it out in 2015 and went to the World Series so and even that we had some questionable manager decisions in the World Series there so I mean even if we talk about the manager as to how the game is being managed I mean I I just I just don't understand how anybody can just like ride just like like ride it to the point as to where the manager is the main reason as to why this team is hold being held back that's not true it's just not true and and and even if you do believe that I'm not even somebody who even though I did like the the Mendoza hire and I think he was a really good hire for this current uh tense of baseball I'm not here to just like completely defend him or whatever I'm not here to go uh fullon um hold the Hold the Flag for him but like I feel like there's certain things as to where the manager kind of has to bite the bullet on and the Mets have had a lot of situations as to where they've had to bite the bullet yes they've had some arms available I get it they had an off day which is today and that definitely raised some questions but the the main reason as to where the Mets just need to they need to execute on the field a lot better than talking about Mendoza executing as a manager I feel like we blame the same area every single time then we change the area and then it's the same issue every single time like I'm not saying Mendoza has not made bad decisions and we can go into go into all of those things but the way I see it is for someone who has done the the job in a first year I think that he's done it well now is it possible that the these types of mistakes might lare up a red flag maybe in his second year or third year yes but I I just I'm really I'm just really tired of blaming the same area that gets changed then continues to be an issue like I feel like we are we are just beating a dead horse as to where where I'm saying how many managers do you want to go through I mean this guy's no good get rid of him this guy's no good get rid of him we we do the same thing with pitchers too do the same thing with players too different thing obviously because they are the guys performing on the field but like with with Mendoza I just I I I'm I'm really tired of it as to where Everyone likes to cycle analyze every single thing that he's doing and then just blaming him for why the team is being held back because the Mets have talent on this team most of that top that top talent that we expected to be the top guys have not contributed this year the way that you wanted them to I I don't know I I I don't really know how you can really translate that as as to the manager yes the bullpen was not managed the right way yesterday is it possible that Jose budo should have been taken out when he was losing the strike zone yes is it possible that the usage of Diaz May has may have uh been something that has affected him as to where he's somebody who likes to pitch a lot and he hasn't been pitch pitched a lot he's only been put into the ninth inning in a tie game or in a safe situation which we know that he's capable of doing something else other than that is it possible yes but I I'm just I'm just tired of blaming the same thing over and over again as to where you can also look back at it as oh well this team only scored two runs in the game they had multiple opportunities to score the main guys of Pete Alonzo continuing to struggle with runners in scoring position the best way that he could drive in a run in this series was hitting the base hitting the third base bag and it making a weird turn like that that's how bad it has been for Pete Alonzo nmo has yet to wake up as to his regular nmo self aside from that one home run that JD Martinez had he has been himself with Runners and scoring position either so I feel like there's a lot of other factors that kind of put you in this position to where yeah you're going to be losing in heartbreaking fashion like that yeah no I mean I totally agree there's just been like we said the players are got to be the ones that are stepping up especially the guys that you are paying a lot of money to you have high expectators that these guys are going to be big contributors for you where they bat in the order right in the middle right right at the top like those that's how the lineup is constructed that's how lineups are made that these supposed to be your main contributors and like we said far too often it's the bottom of the order and obviously the top top of the order as the leadoff spot has the most RBI in the season even before Lindor was there when nmo was there that's still where most of the runs are driven in that's because of the also the guys on the bottom half of the lineup getting on base so it's just been a very just strange way it's gone and I'm noticing that every day it feels like the lineup is changing more and more and more it's like all of a sudden now JD Martinez is Fifth and Jesse Winker is third now Peter Lonzo is third like you know I just feel like and alimo was fourth like it's just like constantly changing lately and I get it because they haven't really got into like that full-on Groove again but it just feels like kind of turning these guys a different orders is not really going to make a difference because they like it's still like the same guys if that makes sense so it's like like they're still going to have struggles in certain areas no matter where they're batting in the order and it would help a lot if Brandon imemo was himself because he really can be an igniter and a spark plug for a lineup and really make a huge impact that way and be a guy that gets big hits so getting him to get back on track get started in the second half rather be in September and we're still waiting for like even a little bit of first half Nemo and you can make the same case for Bader other than his one Homer he's really had a struggle we're going to talk about Alvarez later it's been a struggle for him so it's like when you have this many guys that are kind of going through it it makes it tough to kind of put together offense and then you know the one time or very couple times Francisco Lindor doesn't come through Runners on base you have nothing to show for and it just seems like far too often it's him it's fantos and then you're just kind of waiting on everybody else to do something and you know there's just a few guys that like staling Marte someone mentioned he's looking completely clueless I I just I don't know what to do with him you know what I mean I I I just don't think there's much there I I feel like what they signed Marte for was not a singles hitter and strictly singles like they need extra base hits they need stallin bases and he's just I just don't think he's a good fit right now with all these other right-handed hitters with Chase problems I just feel like he just adds to what they struggle with right now I I do believe with with Starling Marte and we we've had tons of extended discussions about him but with Starling Marte I I really do think that in the lineup he still makes it deeper but it's pretty clear and I think we already know that no matter how healthy we can see Starling Marte is because I think that he has looked better out in the Outfield like he's moving a lot better it's pretty much been established that he is a shell of himself he just is and and and and we really started to see that even in that 22 2022 season towards the end there where he didn't seem like he was running out ground balls as well we saw him screwing up in the Outfield a little bit and then he got hurt and then he comes back and he's just really is a shell of him a shell of himself and he's just getting older and that's the reality and that's the main reason as to why I I don't think that this m this team really can survive with a player like him on the roster next year but it's a that's obviously a different story and when we talk about somebody like you know Drew Gilbert or we talk about somebody else who's in The Miner leagues like uh any of these organizational guys uh anybody that we've signed and and somebody that we could call up as to where uh you know like like talking about this as as iby comes in here batty hurt he's not coming up in September 1st and you know do you think DJ or or could it be Gilbert like those are the types of options as to where they can kind of deepen The Outfield but they already have a deep Outfield the thing is is that you know that you're kind of meriting um you're you're kind of meriting right now as to where Starling Marte should be playing you know every single day as to what he's getting paid and for what they actually want from him because Starling Marte is not just somebody who does something with his Bat he's not somebody who just does something with his glove he provides so many tools out there or that's what at least we paid him to do and the fact that he has become a two out of three guy the fact that he's basically getting the same playing time uh stretch as how Mark Cana was kind of treated it's a little bit concerning as to where you're you're kind of not even just comparing the uh contracts it's just kind of just how you're comparing the skill sets in general and it really is just kind of showing us to where maybe he's just not capable of being an everyday player anymore and it is possible but I think that Marte it is what it is it is what it is with him because you're not going to get rid of him so he's not going anywhere for now um and I I don't know if it's really just going to be like a a play well to playay type of thing but you know they're expecting Starling Marte to be the the everyday uh right fielder right now and you know it's probably that he's it's possibly he's just not up for the task I mean I don't know what you think about that like well here's the thing is that when we talk about like what he's getting paid and so far it's been six games so it's not a huge sample size but he had a hit in every game besides yesterday but in all these games it's one hit no runs driven in one double one stolen base so it's like he like you say he's deepening the lineup he's doing something but he's not doing what Marte is supposed to do you know I I just Gap yeah yeah like it's just not him like it helps but just for his contract like that's just not like I feel like especially going forward I'm I'm more concerned about next year like I wouldn't be like oh well I'm paying Marte this much so I can't go add another corner outfi like I would be like no I I kind of know what's in the tank or what's left that I feel like if I need if I find a deal that I really like that can help me for the long term I should be looking at that and to answer I's question I mean the timing isn't ideal because of how long Drew Gilbert was out but I would rather give him a shot just to kind of get a small gauge of how he is on the major league level how he adapts two major league pitching so I feel like once you get to see that then maybe that helps kind of the Harrison Bader conversation as far as like okay do I pay another 10 mil for Bader or do I just have Gilbert internally and I could spend that money elsewhere yeah I mean also Winker is another piece to the Outfield that is a free agent after this year as well so did we not just say a hundred times that Alonzo is struggling and not getting the job done and I'm trust me I'm not screaming you would know listen I I I think you you know there's Parts as to the there's parts to the lineup that I think that they can be inconsistent at times and for some reason they just there's this team I've already talked about it they score in bunches they play in bunches they feed off of each other and when someone's dead they're dead you know and and this is the the main the main reason as to why I don't think that this certain hitting coach that we will talk about uh in a second is a good um example to set for that and there's tons of main reasons as to why but we'll get into that but I do want to obviously run down the series as to what happened because it was four games and a lot did happen we traded some Jabs with this pirat this P Pirates Padre's team and um they're leaving San Diego with a split now in game one we had Luis srino follow up his complete game shut out with a solid five ining effort wasn't great but it was good enough he walked four struck out five on just one earned run Mark Vientos open the scoring with an RBI double and drove in two later in the ninth Lindor with a two hit game Alonzo went three for five drove in a run Winker and eaus both had two hit games and an RBI three hit game from Jeff mcneel who drove in a run as well as a two- hit game from Tyrone Taylor Danny Young Reed Garrett Phil maton each score each tossed a scoreless inning and then hoscar brazoban struggled mightily in the ninth needing to throw almost 40 pitches giving up two runs but he finished it off for an8 to3 series opener win game two Paul Blackburn was bad and I mean really really bad allowing 10 hits and five earned runs in just the span of Two and a thirds Innings pitch before leaving the game due to a hand injury throwing just 59 pitches as for the offense there was pretty much none doubles from Lindor and Marte that would eventually be stranded with the rest of the Mets lineup going a combined 0 for 27 with 12 strikeouts and no walks just a ugly seven to nothing lost in game two game three David Peterson tosses yet another fantastic outing more on him later s and a3d of one run ball walking two striking out just two the offense was led by Francisco Lindor driving in five runs in total with a Grand Slam in the fourth inning and a solo shot from the right side of the plate in the seventh inning Alonzo would also Drive in a run on a weird hop double up Third Base Line Harrison Bader would add on to it later in the eighth with a solo shot breaking the game completely open denell nunz returned from the injured list tossed one inning and two3 with three strikeouts to finish finish off a 7 to1 Easy Peasy win in game three game four the struggling Jose kintana would bounce back in a very unconventional way but he did get the job done striking out absolutely no batters getting two whiffs the entire game but still tossing six and a third scoreless there was not much offense in this game but it counted Big Time JDM opened the scoring early with a solo shot in the fourth mark vento was added to the lead with another solo shot in the seventh Lindor Alonzo nmo all with hits in this game but the trouble did come later following a scoreless inning Jose budo came in to pitch the eighth struggling to find the strike zone surrenders a game tying two run home run to jerickson proar Phil mton would finish the inning leading to Edwin Diaz in the ninth who gives up the game-winning home run to Jackson Merrill as the Mets leave San Diego with a four game split that puts them at 68 and 63 falling two and a half games out of the final wild card spot behind the division rival Braves so the main takeaways from this series uh the play on the field even though we gave a little bit of a hint to that I think we're like a half hour in already um but a lot has happened and let's just say again like I said earlier if you guys did not hear if you guys weren't here for it live these are the types of events that makes me feel feel like I'm in 2019 again this is the type of events as to where you had it right in front of you and they just fumble it right there at the end and it really is just so frustrating when you're trying to pad these winds together in a close-knit time and they're running out of chances they have 31 games left there's not much about Cal calendar year and a little bit Le a year calendar and maybe a week or two after that it's it's getting very very close to the end of the season they're running out of time now and this series if they don't turn it around this could be one of the series that gets considered in hindsight as the back breaker what do you think Frank yeah I mean let's start with the good uh the good is that Francisco Lindor is really making a very nice MVP case the game he had where he hit the home run from the left side the home run from the right side hitting the Grand Slam driving in five runs that's what an MVP does and you know also what MVP does is when you have a veteran pitcher who cannot throw a strike and the pitching coach doesn't know what to do to take the initiative upon yourself to literally push him through the inning is what a leader does because the award is called most valuable player it is not called who had the best season it's not called who was in the 50/50 Club it's who provides the most value to their team with what Francisco Lindor has done for this team offensively defensively leadership getting the big hits the hits when they matter could you imagine where this team would be without him this team wouldn't be anywhere near the Wild Card race better cuz he's like the worst sign they've ever had ever so I mean when you when you look at the regular War the F War he just does so many different things that impact winning baseball games that he's just Irreplaceable he's just so valuable that to me it's it's really unfortunate that you have so many other guys not doing their job that it's like if if some other guys could just step up a little bit and the Mets actually did have a wild card spot I feel like it'd give him a really good chance I don't know if he'll be able to win it if they miss the playoffs because he doesn't have the Mike Trout stats to win the MVP while being a horrible team and the match wouldn't finish horrible but still it's it's hard to win that way when the league just loves Otani and there's an obvious propaganda for Otani and they push Otani down your throat that it's hard to overcome that but I feel like just when you look at the different things he's done he certainly has a case and to me I think is definitely deserving of it I understand otani's greatness but I think that when you talk about value as far as how many different things they're doing for the team he has done so much and he continues to do it playing every game like I mean he's just everywhere he's involved in everything and now to move to the bad side about having your shortstop become your pitching coach because of your trade deadline acquisition not being able to get the job done and to go a step further all of the pitching trade deadline Acquisitions maybe outside of Phil maton have been a Flatout disaster they've been horrible in every aspect they are all unreliable and cannot be trusted Ryan stanik they don't put him late in games anymore because you can because he walks the ballpark him and husar brazoban since becoming Mets have a six walk per9 which is just astronomical even on this team where everybody is three or above it's that bad and you know what those numbers did not look like that before they got here that was not massive massive issues for them and it's just like I don't understand how many more cases do you have to to see of guys starting to struggle more specifically with command when they get to this organization and the pitching coach gets no blame and has nine lives I don't understand that I don't get how the Seattle Mariners have struggles and they fire their manager after they were playing the Mets on Sunday Night Baseball and they're talking about oh the Mariners oh they look like a contender oh look at this staff look at this that they look at Cal Riley's butt like they were just going on about how great the Mariners are they fired their manager meanwhile the Mets have the second most walks to the Chicago White Sox who are on Pace to be one of the worst teams in major league history the Mets are second to them as far as walks and it's with so many different arms David Sterns has tried everything he can to bring in a bunch of different arms saying you know what maybe it's just that these guys aren't working out we'll try some other guys and the same thing happens you've used 35 pitchers and at least 30 of them have three or more walks per nine Phil M's the only guy that has command him and Daniel Nunes everyone else they walk everybody and then for Paul Blackburn he's not walking as many batters but he's giving up a million hits he's got a whip at 1.5 the guy can't miss bats they're putting the ball and play so much they hit him in the hand because they just can't stop hitting the ball against this guy so it's just really crazy to me that you know this deadline what has it done to actually make them better because brazoban had gotten uh he went down to Triple A until Blackburn got hurt that's how bad it's been you already in within a month had to take him off the team meanwhile he's under team control till 2029 and again do we want that if he's 35 is that something that is actually a good thing so it's just very frustrating when you have this deadline you bring in all these guys and they're not really helping you Winker got a big hit obviously in the game against Baltimore but other than that he's been very he hasn't been much above average so that hasn't worked out and then obviously the pitching outside of Phil Matan who the Mets still don't even trust that's maybe where you could kind of criticize Mendoza a little bit is that you see that budo command is not there maton like I said other than Deno Nunes is the one guy not walking batters Deno Nunes was not available because he worked inning and two3 which I understand considering it was his first outing back from the injur list working with the big lead I'm okay with that but I think for M time to throw two pitches and then you're like okay no more maton and now I'm going to have Diaz do the ninth and the 10th because the game was tied I thought that was maybe asking a bit much I thought that maybe you'd want to play the outs game that's kind of the way I would have approached it is like okay I'm in the seventh inning how many outs can I get from budo and then how many outs can I get from Diaz and then if the game goes to extras then maybe that's why I go on Phil maton but that's just how I would approached it that might have not worked out either but I just feel like if matan's one of the guys who's not walking batters why do you not trust him a little more and why do you have to be so like you said so careful with Edwin Diaz to where he's pitching once every three days four days because they mentioned on the broadcast that like Diaz hasn't had a save opportunity in a really long time because the Mets are either like so inconsistent that they're up by too much or they're losing so he doesn't have save opportunities so then they're not using him so it's just kind of in on that part and then I'll finish with another good is seeing how well saino pitched I thought that was huge getting that big start from David Pearson was massive even if there was some luck involved gets him in a little bit and then for kintana it was a weird start but if you told me that I was going to get him to work that far into the game and not give up any runs I would have been like I'll take it most worried about exactly cuz I didn't think that was going to happen so I'll give him credit it was weird it's something that I said on the recap hasn't happened like 20 years and it happens like almost every 20 years a start like that but the fact that it did happen I will give him props when where they're due yeah Jose kintana got the job done I mean I really you're just kind of rolling the dice with this guy going out there every single five days let's just be real for a second um I mean I still feel the exact same way about him I I still don't think he had his best stuff whatsoever I don't think he's had his best stuff the entire season to be honest but that's a different story again with the pitching injuries that they have yet another one as well added to the list Jose Katan is going to be in this rotation for the rest of the year no matter what at the end of the day I I think coming from this series I I've really I I don't know if it seems like they're they're they're being just completely outclassed or whatever or I mean this is a better team than the meths they are a better team whether it's on paper just overall statistically they have a lot of Talent on on this team the Mets have talent Padres have talent as well and they they've had a few pieces that weren't even available that we didn't even see whether it was from the mound or actual hitters tatis didn't even play so that that is a really good team and the problem is you're going to have to be playing these types of teams in the playoffs we played this team two years ago in the playoffs and they were not a unable they were unable to beat them with Joe Musgrove again I feel like him just taking advantage of that righty righty as to where it's it's the left hook to the other side of the uh batters box it just it's it's a lot I feel like left-handed hitters have kind of just become the new uh Advantage now as to where you can kind of just Elevate pretty much like any pitch coming from coming from any side whether it is from the right side where they have to go to uh the arm side or just Lefty Lefty as to where it goes into the goes into the zone and you could just turn on it so for left-handed hitters there's a little bit more of an advantage there and that's the main reason as to why I am excited about some of these young uh pieces that we do have because there are a lot of left-handed bats we have in this farm system and hopefully they can kind of bring it into that sort of thing it has nothing to do with the pl platoon it kind of just has more to do with pitch tunneling and how pitchers take advantage of those types of platoon matchups from the other side and you know that was kind of pretty evident uh to me in this series uh from a lot of pitchers that they had especially um the the just the the hard sliders that some of these pitchers have on San Diego which is just ridiculous they have some guys that can throw gas you know they brought in Taylor Scott uh Brian hoing can can throw a a pretty mean slider as well um Suarez just Suarez just ridic ulous stuff and then I mean just the secondary stuff that they have and and that's the main reason as to why the Mets have been exposed in inconsistent times where the there's been a lot of chasing there's been a lot of swing and miss and there's been a lot of just um just leaving pitches that you could have killed in the zone and just letting them go and we'll talk about that with um Francisco Alvarez because that's one of my main uh gripes as to how he's kind of approached this season um and no do not mean uh Yuki coming in saying Brett batty no different story um that's different uh I'm not talking about vulnerability bats I'm talking about actual like barrels that can reach all four corners of the Zone um that that's a little bit different but from this series it was nice to see Francisco Lindor basically just do what he continued to do throughout the entire season which is basically just carrying this team on his back yes Mark Vientos has been a great s has been quite a surprise from what the expectations were at the beginning of the year he continues to hit I'm impressed but just overall from all five tools from all five aspects Francisco Lindor is carrying this team on his back he actually did it in the third game of the series he was responsible for five of the seven runs and like like that was only that that was pretty much all the offense that was being driven in for a majority of the game you have gdm being sprinkled in a little bit like he gets on the hot streak then he goes cold Nimo has not been able to figure it out since the All-Star break Pete Alonzo I mean I've I've become I've come to the Lost Cause part of this with him now um where I I just I I've accepted what he is and how I just I don't really expect him to come through at this point and even though we've had some little contributors here and then with Marte or whether it's Bader some of the guys it's just overall we already know that Francisco Lindor uh has an impact on this team uh just like bigger than a lot of people think and and not to mention it's just how criminally underrated he's been throughout the fan base uh just because of how slow he usually starts every single year he's continued to just be the main guy on this team he is the best player on this team whether people like it or not or think that his batting average demotes that at the end of the day Francisco Lindor in terms of tools in terms of an all-around player he is the best team on player on this team whether you whether you like it or not and he's played like it so once again just another great series from Francisco Lindor and he just continues like you said with the MVP conversation and I'll get into that in a second I do agree that it's Otani I still because he is breaking records known that is like just in different um in different levels but with Francisco Lindor in the ter terms of leadership of how important he has been to this team he has a case he 100% does because again the Hank Aaron award is something that usually is more just a hitting award that is pretty much designed for like dh's who don't play the field at all like how JD Martinez I'm pretty sure won it in 2018 when he haded MVP caliber hitting season with showy Otani it's a different level right now so it's probably going to be overd override by everything but I do think at the pace that we are going Francisco Lindor has deserved has has earned his spot in the top three he has and I think that we all can really establish that because again there are some other guys in the in the National League who are having phenomenal Seasons but in terms of just all around round player Most Valuable Player overall value especially to a team Francisco Lindor is proving it day in and day out that if the Mets didn't have him who knows where they would be right now maybe they would be in that that position as to where on our graphic where we keep making the graphic a little bit bigger and they're and they're like third to last as to where they were uh out of that final wild Court card spot that has been um something that continues to be a very um glaring not issue but a glaring situation as to where if Lindor is not doing anything we're not doing anything we if you see the dispers this dispersity between the me Francisco lindor's numbers in wins compared to his numbers in losses it's very concerning I don't know if Frank I don't know if you're able to look that up or something I'd love to see what it is because it is very very alarming let's just say what looking for uh lindor's W uh numbers and wins and losses I believe oh okay I could probably pull that up yeah it is I know i' I've seen it before I know it's pretty drastic because again that was a that was a that was a similar discussion as we've talked about with Alonzo before for the first um five years that he goes yeah wherever we go Lindor goes wherever we go Alonzo goes and with Alonzo he's a little bit Limited in terms of the in terms of the the skill set so it doesn't really have as much of an impact as compared to somebody like Francisco Lindor who can do things from both sides of the ball he can do things on the base paths he can do things at the plate from both sides of the plate as well let's not forget how he's a switch hitter which I think a lot of people forget because we Face a lot of right-handed guys um except for when guys uh you know stack a lefties against us which has has died down a little bit because the Mets have been good against lefties this year but with um Francisco Lindor doing that from the top of the lineup he's the first man up you know he's he's the guy that they they run the entire offense through and you you kind of think as to where you know how big of a contributor he has been as we talked about driving in runs and we talked about how he has continued um to just contribute to this offense with obviously a deeper lineup in front of him from the bottom of the lineup as to where they set him up for these opportunities but it kind of makes you think that you're like okay well Lindor in the leadoff spot thanks to the lineup obviously that's a little bit deeper now I mean he is basically doing Alonzo's job he's doing nimo's job right now he's doing JD Martinez's job in the margins like he's doing every he's making up for everybody behind him to be honest I I mean with how hot Lindor has been and how streaky the rest of the top of the lineup has been I mean I I would give this guy the treatment as to where I'm not even pitching to Francisco Lindor I mean think about that batting after him it's a little harder but there were times where it was it was a viable option but you know that you can make Vientos somewhat chase you know you could yes you know he has those those times where it happens even though viant has been good there's still some faults to him you know there still is but with Lindor I mean pitching around the leadoff hitter you know the first guy to strike I mean it's it's it's something to be said nimo's got to start getting it going let's just say that I not L numbers before you move on with the wins and losses you can you can yeah so in the wins Lindor has 23 of his home runs he's batting 338 within 1,080 Ops in losses he's got four home runs hitting 192 with a 543 Ops so he becomes like I think cut out there but um it basically just explains that the value that he has to this lineup has basically the biggest I mean the the biggest margin um and and that's even like big as compared to like when you're talking about like um somebody like uh uh Pete Alonzo when we were talking about him in the lineup um we were talking about um pet Alonzo in the lineup and how he has been doing um in wins as compared to losses yes there is a noticeable difference but I feel like we've also had uh quite a gap as compared to um you know with with Francisco Lindor and we're just talking about it as to where you know he has just been able to use all five tools from the leadoff spot and I feel like he's been able to do that a lot more confidently as to where we all agree that Francisco Lindor probably should be leading off for the Mets for the rest of his career I think that we all have established this at this point that there is no there is absolutely nothing that can move Lindor out of the leadoff spot I don't care if you like jet Williams I don't care if you like lisan hunia who are faster than Lindor at this current moment because they're younger and more athletic they're not moving Francisco Lindor out of that that leadoff spot we are getting that $341 million production from Lindor from that leadoff spot and there's absolutely no reason as to why um he should be uh taken out of that spot as to what he's been able to provide there um and and I was a little bit skeptical about that because of how we were expecting Lindor to be that type of hitter from the top of the lineup mainly because we expected him to about second and we expected about third as to where he kind of anchors the lineup being one of the main uh run contributors he's been able to do that from from the leadoff spot so and then this is this is the main thing as to where Daniel coming in saying if it's not broke don't fix it exactly uh and you know hopefully the Mets kind of ease off of the table setting type of lineup that they have right now and kind of move it into you know kind of a power anchor approach compared now my co-host uh kind of fizzled out here so uh he'll give some kind of update eventually it looks like his power went out uh So eventually he'll be back and as to my uh voice right there he's back I don't know what happened are you uh did you get caught in the the triangle what what happened yeah light lightning struck and then all of a sudden the whole house went black so we're having a wonderful time here for the weather H nice well my my power lines are underground so I'm I have I have that feature as to where it you know an entire uh lightning strike can hit my house and I still will will be able to be streaming and screaming about the Mets for two hours straight that sounds like we covered there on my end um yeah Frank Frank possibly on I's Wi-Fi iby always having Wi-Fi issues as well ACDC Thunder Struck exactly um everybody everybody loves those over when those overrated bands um strike your house let's just say that um no I don't want to I don't want to hey I don't want to trigger anybody if you're an AC saying okay um now speaking of overrated let's get to David sorry all right so I didn't want to open it like that let let me let me redo that okay I I I just I had I had the tendency to do a segue and okay let me redo that let's forget I said anything let's move to David Peterson who has been quite a pleasant surprise as to let's say since the span of kodai senga coming back and then getting injured with kodai senga being down the entire year giving us an five innings in a third let's just say we did not know who was going to provide any Innings or any workload as to where they can give us a quality start every single time give us distance has David Peterson been that guy consistently all year no but recently he has been quite the contributor to the Mets star rotation and specifically as to where he has been basically elevated himself to a level where some people are plugging him into a possible postseason starter not even I don't know if it's by choice or whatever because we know that srino and manah most likely have those spots there but the game three starter has kind of just been floating away let's just say because we don't know about Jose kintana Paul Blackbird we've talked about him not being a postseason rotation guy in a wild card series Tyler McGill has been absolutely abysmal when he's been a uh starter at the major league level uh and then s obviously going down for pretty much the entire SE season being here for a little bit and then basically teasing us on his way out so if you're talking about David Peterson of how he's kind of treated this um opportunity to be in this rotation with with the injuries that have been and starting every single 5 days I think we all can agree that he's been the buold doog Lefty of the rotation and obviously you can see from the numbers he has given us 85.1 Innings pitch not big of a sample size as a starting pitcher but out there he has given us the quality starts where it counts limiting the Home Run ball we can't really say that about the other um soft tossing Lefty in this rotation in Jose kintana who has been home run bitten all year with a 2.85 earned run average dazzling he's an ace still walking the ball still walking in the ballpark but it has toned down a little bit as compared to how many ground balls he's been able to get 52.2% ground ball rate in the league in the league percentile the N the 89th League percentile if I can speak properly and we've also seen him kind of prioritize the Sinker a little bit more than the fast ball which has also been something that has um kind of just made his fast ball a little bit sharper as to where the uh usage has gone down with his Sinker uh over 15 inch of arms side run which has been useful to right-handed hitters and left-handed hitters this year uh the slider which has been known as his best pitch which I mean I don't think is is fantastic which he he really lacks command of but he's been able to get it over as as compared to just overall um stuff it's not the greatest but let's just say that compared to tunneling um just his overall breaking pitches have looked a lot sharper um you can look at it from you know his expected ER which is 5.28 so quite a difference between a 2.85 earned run average getting hit hard a lot and not to mention he all of his five pitches have an X woba over 300 which is quality of contact from opponents but he's been able to do well from the stretch which we couldn't really say that a lot from his um from his fullon uh from his full-on career where he has not been great from the stretch I personally think there's a different topic there but I personally think he should just be pitching from the stretch the entire time um just to kind of just improve and and not to mention just like deliver to the plate a little bit uh longer now we did have a poll that went on before the stream began asking if you trust David Peterson to pitch in the postseason because we're in a position right now where taking him out of the equation for kodai Sena even though there's a tiny chance he comes back I don't think that happens Christian Scott we still don't know what's going to happen with him he's also had his struggles when he's actually been healthy so it's possible that David Peterson does end up the game three starter um when you use your best bullets first David Peterson 79% of the chat is saying that yes they do trust him in a postseason 11% is saying no and 11% is saying 50/50 so if you haven't voted on that poll yet and you're watching the stream for those of you who are watching on uh X or Twitter whatever we call it these days hop over to uh our YouTube chat if you have not already and you can be part of that conversation also you can be part of chatting as well because most Twitter notifications most Twitter messages just don't pop up here for some reason uh and I know that there's a lot of people on Twitter have a lot to say uh I know that with my following feed and uh with my Twitter a lot of people have a lot to to say um relatively to some of my strong opinions which includes uh this guy right here we're talking about David Peterson I don't know what direction I want to go here Frank the full-on takeaway from how you see David Peterson going forward going into the going into the a possible postseason how he's just pitched on the mound as compared to what we've been getting from these other AAA arms such as Tyler McGill who is really struggled to get out of the fourth inning sometimes when he's up here we might see him this week unfortunately so David Peterson are you buying into it are you stepping back are you waiting to see what happens what do you think yeah right now I I'm in wait and see mode I I do give him credit that he's been stringing together good start after good start and that my favorite stat the erra is looking very low it's one of the best in the league it's one of the best in all major league baseball it's under three so those are all very encouraging things but what I like the most is his past two starts were against the toughest competition he's faced between Baltimore and San Diego a criticism that we've had earing the season is oh sure he's putting up great numbers but he's facing the Nationals and he's facing the Marlins and the Rockies and and the angels and like these teams that aren't that great so now that you've seen him against Baltimore and San Diego and then actually put together his best starts is kind of what I really like now the key for Peterson is that Sinker and the ground ball rate that is what is bailing him out because even though the erra looks good the whip is very high because there is a lot of traffic on the bases but he's been able to induce so many double plays and just ground balls to get out of jams like you showed how many Runners he stranded that he's been able to overall I always say the most important thing with pitching is just put zeros on the board however you do it just get some zeros on the board because like you said with the injuries we've had and some of the struggles you just need some Innings you need Innings and to not give up runs and even though it there's plenty of luck involved and it's not the prettiest form of pitching as of right now it is getting the job done and what I also like is that he worked deep into these games against Baltimore and San Diego but he only walked one batter against Baltimore and only walked two batters against San Diego which if you look at some of his previous starts like even against Pittsburgh and you know Washington Miami like you're seeing three walks four walks three walks against Yankees five Walks Like there were those kind of outings for him and it was kind of capping him at five innings at six Innings and since the end of July he had four starts where he only threw 88 pitches but now these past through starts he went 10 one and he went 96 so for me even though there sure is plenty of luck involved there's some hard hit balls and hard contact I I I see all of that I look at strength of competition I look at how much the starts mean and obviously he's been the beneficiary of insane run support I mean the Mets are averaging at least six runs a game when he starts so that definitely is a big key that allows you to pitch differently and have a different strategy when you're on the mound much less stress and you should be more aggressive but that doesn't always happen cuz they've had games where they've blown guys out he's still walking a bunch of batters so for me as long as the walks are staying down and he's working deeper into games he's not allowing runs he's putting the ball on the ground he can have some success and with the other options that are out there he has to start one of the playoff games you can't trust these other guys unless kodai s makes some miracle return turn you have to use him I talked about Blackburn not everyone's Marcus strowman they can just come back from some lower body injury in the playoffs yeah I mean because for me Blackburn I just don't trust him at all I just don't think he's very good right now he just the the ball finds the bat way too often and now I I feel like I'll pose a question to you before you give your Peterson take the MIT on the broadcast but with the off day today the Mets have the option of pitching Peterson on regular rest on Thursday against Arizona or have Mill do the start on Thursday in Arizona and then for me I feel like that's asking quite a bit of a guy who you've given plenty of opportunities to has struggled so much that you've kept him in the minor leagues even though there is plenty of appeal for a six-man rotation for some of the arms you have and you still are rewarding it because of how much Migel has struggled I feel like having Mill's start against one of the worst teams in baseball history is a better idea at his first start back in in the majors than facing a RedHot Arizona team in a big game but that's just me yeah here's how I here's how I look at it if you're in a rubber game with Arizona put Peterson in put Peterson in it's a big ballpark he'll he'll hold any fly balls that get hit hard not to mention San Diego is also a big ballpark as well uh because that was something that he really used to his Advantage but with McGill you better hope that the entire Bullpen is rested I mean I I mean and and I don't think that you can trust that happening throughout the first two games of this series against uh Arizona because you know we've seen the blowups before we know that uh manah is lined up for the first start and then the second start is uh so they have I I I I literally made the graphic for it and I'm I'm blanking is it seino seino I think so yeah yeah start game against San Diego so should be yeah I mean if you're talking about overall stability David Peterson has provided that in the rotation uh for a team that is short-handed on options when injuries um show up now you have three rotational injuries with uh Paul Blackburn and you can't really go with a fourman rotation down the stretch of the season so Tyler McGill unless Paul Blackburn comes back right after uh the 15-day injured stint McGill is going to be making starts for you no matter what most likely it makes sense to put yourself in a winning position for uh McGill to face the white socks it would be I mean it would be nice to see McGill like face a bad team once in a while uh but I think that with Peterson they have been pushing him a lot deep into these games and in the technical Point as to where maybe the extra day of rest on is just like better for him to keep him a little bit fresh the other part of that debate also comes in as to where he's pitched 85 Innings this season so you can push him a little bit deeper as compared to any of these other starters who have pitched All Season somebody like Luis srino who we have a little bit of concerns with with the work cuz he has not been able to do it in the past 5 years sham manah we all know that he can be a Workhorse as well Jose kintana you just want to see if he actually gives you any innings in a particular start and goes deep into the game so with David Peterson I would it it depends on what the situation is I know they're going to go with Migel no matter what it depends on the situation if you're in a rubber game if you have the chance to sweep put McGill um take put Mill uh in against the white socks it all depends on what happens in those first two [Music] games I I I I don't know how you can look at it from it from an advantage it's either you win the first two games and you determine it that way or it depends on who's available it all really defends on who's available in in that Bullpen and speaking of David Peterson one thing I will say about him is I've always been one who is has always been very critical of soft tossing lefties as to where they really limit themselves to when they can't get the ball over the plate and we've seen that with David Peterson a lot throughout his career the one thing that I will say is a benefit from Peterson this year is something that I feel like is the main thing that they can get away with with success with with soft tossing lefties and that was one of the main appeals with kintana at the beginning keeping the ball on the ground and keeping it in the ballpark that's what he's been able to do the problem that I have here with David Peterson going forward is that he's still even with keeping the ball in the ballpark and even with being able to throw a little bit more strikes than he has been able to to do and able to put the ball on the ground a lot more uh as compared to what he was uh doing earlier in his career still getting more ground balls the problem is he's still getting hit hard a lot and I mean when he leaves breaking pitches over any quadrant of the plate that is not in the strike zone that is in the strike zone he becomes very volatile now one thing that I will say that has become a uh big benefit for him and main reason as to why he's being graded out if you can look back to the graphic here like we've talked about it before vertical approach angle we've talked about it hovering around four behind um behind uh behind Five he is now at a negative 4.89 degree vertical approach Angle now that is quite um now that is quite a jump from his usual Five Point his usual 5.3 5.4 that he's had throughout his career and that's the main reason that has be that has become as to where he can use that fast ball he can use the Sinker to get the ground ball and he's been able to use that primary stuff as an actual quality weapon here's one thing that I will say I think that I'm always been one to talk about Pitch shape I've always been one to talk about execution as to where if you don't have that great of stuff the command is basically what will continue to bail you out the issue with this is that even though he avoids the barrel of the bat he is still I don't want to say expected numbers because pitch by pitch with him there are a lot of pitches that he delivers that still are vulnerable to get crushed and I'm not saying if it's from a a left-handed hitter or right-handed hitter or just going right into the right into the Wheelhouse but overall like even if you want to just look at it from a simple construct an expected erra of 5.28 compared to a 2.85 earn run average that is about more than two and a half runs of a difference and I've never been one to be like okay well the expected version of this stat he's up by this much he's getting lucky he'll regress the problem is we have quite a span between the actual stat and to the expected stat that I believe that in 85 Innings of work it raises some concern as to where if he pits something in the wrong place there's a possibility that he gets taken out there's a possibility that he gets absolutely dominated and he's having Tyler McGill type starts where he can't get out of the third inning can't get out of the fourth inning can't go deep into the game I would say that he's been able to get the he got the walks per nine below four which is good am I buying it not really I'm not not because of just the wide span as compared to how well he's doing compared to like compared to numbers that have have been seen as over underlying the problem that I have here is a lot of the numbers that he's putting up in terms of results just don't see sustainable I just don't see sustainability whatsoever with them the problem is is that I really I don't know how to I don't know how to look at it and even even if you're if if you're if you're if you're spreading it out uh from appearance to appearance you know 85 Innings getting 15 starts that's kind that's a little uh not being able to go deep into games he has been able to go deep into games mult multiple times this year but the problem is is that it's so glaring that it can't raise some concern I've seen a lot of Meatballs thrown by Peterson in these so-called fantastic starts you can shove the 2.85 earn run average down my throat until I choke to death I am still not trusting this guy in a post season game do I have a choice no I don't we don't have a choice right now because the rotation is so banged up and we have a lot of options that are just not options right now that we thought that maybe they could be options down the line and they're just not ready yet this is the best that they got right now the problem is is that I do see this possibly the wheels falling off in a really tough place because if he had command to bail himself out like Jose canana used to have I would be okay with it I'm like okay well this this continues yes he's still underlying yes there's some metrics that don't like him there's some hard contact but he's able to locate keep the ball in the ball park keep the ball on the ground especially with a uh ground ball rate over well over 50% this season the problem is is that command is so important especially from a lefty from that angle that he throws from especially with him being so goddamn tall even when you're talking about uh Tyler McGill being so goddamn tall where he can't control anything from the left side it's a little bit different I feel like we're we're really getting to the point as to you know putting him and plugging him into as the game one starter because his erra is the best on the staff that's where it's getting a little scary to me if if we're currently in the in the in the moment where David Peterson is my game one starter oh I'm I am panicking I really am panicking let's just say that let's just say that yes he has done it well against good lineups yes he has done it well against shitty lineups I'm still not trusting it I still don't believe in it I just don't think that this is going to hold up maybe maybe there's a way that he does prove himself wrong maybe prove me wrong maybe it's possible but I don't see this holding up I just don't there is way too many red flags for me to say well he has something that can back him up he has something as a foundation there's just not much here and I was talking to you to uh you guys in the in the Creator group chat that we had I was trying I was really really trying to find some of the underlying uh numbers uh that were um like effective as to where but I can't find any I just can't and and I'm not I'm not saying that David Peterson is just going to fall off a map because he's proven that now he can be a solid MLB starter but if you're talking about 2.85 erra good nowhere near that he hasn't pitched like that either I'm not saying he's pitched to the the the five and a half expected ER that he has but he is not pitched like that I don't think that he's pitched this well but he's getting the result s and that's what people like in this business the problem is is that when this all comes crashing down which I know that it will it's pretty obvious it will I mean I'm not going to say I mean I'm not going to say I told you so but I'm going to tell you that the signs were there this is a completely different subject but when we talked about Brett batty having a lot of batted ball at the beginning batting over 300 uh driving in runs playing great defense there was not um a point as to where even though the results were coming through at the beginning there were still red flags the red flags regress to the mean he's in Triple A now in fact he's hurt we probably won't even see him for the rest of the season so right now you again like I said you can shove the erra in my face as much as you want I'm still not buying it someone's got to be the villain and it's probably going to have to be me I'm just not buying it he can pitch as well as he can but overall the problem is is that pointing out it from just the overall I don't know hypocrisy from a lot of fans that talk about they want to be good for multiple years and total and uh and just overall total uh sustainability and continuing this long-term success this is these are the types of numbers that help you determine that as to what can hold up what can hold up in court right what can hold up when the jury is out so yes you can get mad at the advanced statistics if you want to tell me that the 2.85 uh erra is legit and he will do that forever go ahead go ahead and shove it in my face but what I'm saying is do not be surprised it at one point where he's facing really good hitters and they take advantage of the uncompetitively matters is that like you know if this was maybe his first season or second season like oh maybe he's figuring out maybe he's putting things together and relatively speaking he's still a young player but when you look at the results as far as what they've been on the major league level his entire career he's been a guy that is in the fives or around the fours he's not a guy that's in the twos so I I feel like that's kind of where there's a better chance a more likely chance that if a full season was going on cuz he didn't start till the end of May so he kind of missed two months of a sample size where you know it's like he's in such a good position right now by the time it's all said and done you would be looking at like you said not the 2.8 but not the 5.2 maybe somewhere like 3.7 or four like I feel like somewhere in the middle is kind of more of what you would kind of expect when it's all said and done but for right now I mean I just hope that he's able to build on for me the main thing with him and like always miss pitch is just to not walk the Batters if he continues that if somehow he gets those walk numbers down I feel like that would just allow him to even if he does let let's say make a mistake like a pitch like you said bleeds out the plate it gets crushed if you're not putting additional base runners on in front of that hitter it doesn't become three runs it becomes one run so I feel like when we talk about just overall not giving up just keeping your team in a game that should be the ultimate goal of starting pitching keep your team in the game don't get blown out if he could do that then I feel like even if some other stuff starts not going his way he'll still be okay so for me I just want to continue to see him work on not walking batters because that's something that is like you know with umpires there's some give or take but it's not as much of one of those expected stats where like oh he got lucky on a bunch of calls so he didn't walk as many bars as he was expected to you know I feel like it's kind of something you do or you don't like you have four pitches you could miss different catcher different umpire whatever but I feel like especially against better teams him being more aggressive and just trying to keep the ball on the ground those things will play and those things like you said will kind of bail you out if some other things aren't going at its best yeah I I mean when I say underlying numbers and when I say an as an overall I don't know if you want to talk about like the analysis of how things are graded and how things are uh showed between the Arsenal that the the location with Peterson still is just not good it just still isn't good and the fact that he's been able to kind of prioritize the Sinker being able to get more ground balls has been the main reason as to why um you know he's been able to produce outs he's been able to go deep into games and the the problem that I have with this is because his Sinker especially the uh especially the right-handed hitters his Sinker to left to right-handed hitters it just does not have enough bite as to where he's he's going to be able to get a bunch of swinging misses he's been able to do the back door thing with his slider not as well as he's he was doing but still better um like the problem with his Arsenal is like I don't really know how to put this I I think that with his arsenal of what he has it's it's very let's just say it's a very basic very um it's not repeatable it's just it's a very basic type of Arsenal as to where you know it's it's five pitch five five pitches deep a traditional fast ball there is a sinker uh involved as well there's not much deception when it comes to David Peterson and that's a another thing that that does like kind of freak me out um but he's been able to do well against the right-handed I think the right-handed right-handed hitters are actually doing well not doing that well against him this year um which is actually pretty oh no right uh no they're not yeah they're not see they're not turning on pitches as much as compared to what they used to be doing um he was really struggling against lefties as well the problem that I have here is someone is eventually going to figure out um when this this Sinker goes into his wheelhouse because there just aren't again there's just not enough like underlying numbers where I can look at it as to where there isn't much like they're they're just I don't I don't get it like I really don't get it in terms of it's not like oh he shouldn't be getting swings and misses because these are bad pitches what I'm saying is the way that he locates it almost seems like he's missing bats unintentionally like he's he's trying he's trying to put the ball in play like he's trying to get the ball on the ground which is fine if they want to turn him into a contact manager but the problem is is that there's going to be certain uh there's going to be certain hitters that he's going to face and even if you're talking about the in postseason fashion that the only way to get them out is to miss bats and I don't trust him to miss bats as compared to just getting a ground ball because there are a lot of non ground ball hitters out there uh that are going to be faced in the postseason if they get there again the Mets still need to make the playoffs in order for that to happen the problem that I have here is just overall Vol uh just just he's just overall volatile and and I I I still see the same David Peterson from sequencing I still see the same David Peterson that continues to mislocation I still see the same David Peterson who's walking too many hitters I'm still seeing D sa the same David Peterson that cannot control his secondary stuff and even though he is still getting these results I still just don't trust it I still don't and he can continue and maybe go into a complete a complete uh he can go into a complete overhaul as to where he becomes a big candidate to break out next year he can continue to pitch well like this the problem is that there's strikeout numbers there's walk numbers just overall ratio as to where I just don't think that this can sustain to the Quality arm that people believe that he is right now and that's my problem with him as to where I just don't think this is going to continue I hope I'm wrong I do hope I'm wrong because it'll help the team win because obviously they like to hit for him they like to hit for him they like to do everything for the guy I I don't know what deep connection they have to him he's a nice fell but the the the main reason that I I bring up this concern as to where if he's going to be a contact manager than like this he's going to have to make better pitches than he is making because let's just say there has been a lot of longfly balls that have been hit over 100 miles an hour against him that have died on the Waring track he has given up a lot of line drive he gives up so many line drives he gives up so I mean he I mean he's career high I think in flyball rate as of right now he's not been able to jam hitters he's kind of just been able to get these ground get ground balls as to where his Sinker has been going to the arm side which is good but I'm just not I'm not there yet I'm just not there yet I don't believe believe it I don't I just don't see it and you can call me the worst person in the world you can call me a fullon hater I just don't see it and even though he's getting the good results he's helping the team win he's putting them in a position to win every single game at one point at the worst Point imaginable when you really really need a win don't be surprised if this completely falls out of complete measure of what you have been seeing all year and that's why I'm not buy and that's why I'm just not buying into it there's a difference between him and Tyler McGill as to where we talk about stuff playing Tyler McGill has way better stuff than David Peterson that's been a known fact he hasn't been able to execute it David Peterson was has just not been able to apply that subpar stuff to good command he's still struggling to do that while getting these types of results just tells me that this is probably not sustainable and I'm not saying that with a 2.85 earn run average and it ends 3.7 I'm going to tell oh well told you that that there you go I just feel a lot of he's very he's very volatile to a lot of different a lot of a lot of different hitters that can do damage so many different ways let's just say that that there's just a lot of red flags that pop up with David Peterson and that's just the main concern for me as to where even if you're looking at underlying metrics they look worse as compared to what he's done throughout his entire career and this is and this is coming from a David Peterson who again like I've talked about first round pick first round pedigree let's just say that you know even though I do have my soft spot for Mcgill and I think still think that there's a good pitcher in there whether it is out of the bullpen most likely now Peterson had his expectation mcel just came out of nowhere so you'd expect Peterson to be better than Mill he should be the fact that McGill was chesting up to David Peterson for all these years is a bit sad so you can call McGill [ __ ] all you want he has been [ __ ] he's been bad but with David Peterson he should be on that other level as to where he's not even compared to Tyler Mcgill and that I'm just still seeing the same volatile pitcher that I've seen since his rookie year but he's getting the results now so all of a sudden he's the rotations Ace I'm sure it'll continue I I root for him to continue even though my ego will again like I said my ego it's not doing well right now okay it's really hurt It's really hurting uh I just feel like crawling up into a ball in the corner of a corner of my bedroom okay it's really bad for me the problem that I look at it is we're investing a little too much in a picture that has I don't know just has a tendency to do very little I I mean that that's kind of how I look at it I don't know the best way I can look the best way I can explain it it's just so there's so many red flags to David Peterson this season that I just can't buy it I just don't buy it I don't trust it I just don't and whether you trust it or not if you believe that ra is RA and ra will stay erra forever and if he keeps ering the Bal eras go ahead tell me I'm an idiot go ahead tell of people will tell me I'm an idiot day after day doesn't hurt me but I'm just saying eventually there is a possibility that the the wheels will fall off because he can't pitch like this forever and I could go even deeper into this but we can go on forever we can go on I can go on forever with this but the problem that I really do think he faces is there are just there I the I don't know what the best way to put it is I just see it as a bunch of red flags that just have not come to light yet I don't know what it is and maybe it's just pitch shape that he's been able to adjust but I mean overall sustainability especially with the man at the top running the the pitching show I don't know I I really I really don't know um but again he's been a contributor to this rotation he's been one of the high contributors to this rotation I'm not negating anything that he has done what I'm saying is that the trust of David Peterson the rise of David Peterson is not David Peterson like this is just not going to be what you expect from him every every single time that he takes them out you need these arms to take Innings I am not sliding this guy into my rotation next year I still am I'm still not because at the because with the light at the end of the tunnel it just doesn't look good I just I just think there's a lot of there's a lot of volatile po points to David Peterson and you know whether he gets the results or not I I just don't know how that I just don't know how that adds up let's just say that I don't know if you want to add anything um to that I feel like I'm just rambling at this point yeah no I mean I I just think it it's kind of something that we'll definitely revisit as we see how we progresses if there's improvements if there's not if like you said things do kind of fall back to the means then we'll kind of know what's happening but I think for right now um like I'm giving them credit that I'm happy they's done well the past couple stars and overall has had a good season because they've really needed it uh and you know I just hope that as a young player he continues to improve and I think the one thing that as far as like going forward long term if the Mets actually did bring in a different pitching coach who doesn't have hitter uh pitchers walk so many batters maybe he could get a little better and he could kind of change his approach to be more of like that Sinker baller pitching more from the stretch like those different adjustments that he could make as a pitcher to be just overall different kind of arm and then see kind of what you have and then make a career based off of that so I I feel like there's still some potential there I I feel like there's still he could still get better you know I feel like that's kind of what I like compared to some like kintan we've talked about where it's like he's too old he's done like there just there's nothing there I feel like at least with a younger guy that there still is always that room for development we'll see again I I think that there's there's a certain ceiling for Peterson which I don't agree is a is a three or four type starter which Ricardo coming in you know just keep him away from you know the Braves they are his Kryptonite I does he have a tough history against the Braves I don't know I've always been everybody has a tough history against the Braves he proba everybody does um but I I think that he still pitches like a five right now he's being recognized as a as a Frontline arm and I'm just I'm slowing the brakes on that I just I can't man I I just don't I just don't see what people are seeing I don't know if I'm just one who just watches it pitch by pitch as to where oh this is is in a good pitch but it got a good result like there there's things that add up at the end there um that just get put on full display if you don't you know see this in the underlying way I get it some people just don't like that type of data there's people that just completely refute it I do believe that the people the mo most of the people that don't like it are just they just don't understand it and they're just you know too simple-minded to even try um which is most of them um but you know how I how I look at it is basically how I look at at this team all the time and that just being a house of card situation that that's kind of just how they're built um especially by this team that just builds off of momentum the way that they do we'll see if he continues to do it but I'm just I'm just not I'm not there yet I'm sorry guys uh if you were expecting me to give roses to him I'm just still I'm just still not there now speaking of uh roses actually there's nothing to do with roses on this but let's get into let's get into another topic that was brought up uh Yesterday by Tim hey of us uh was it USA Today news day he news news day um talking about the overall approach of Francisco Alvarez and kind of how he's um struggled with uh just overall power as a power bat as a overall just damage just just an overall damage oriented bat uh that if there's a pitch in the zone he's going to be crushing it um he just has not been able to do that this season he only has six home runs this season not getting many extra base hits just not looking like the the Alvarez we know he's capable of being not looking like the Alvarez last year who hit 25 home runs even though he was streaky he still comp contributed to the offense we got a full-on quote from Francisco Alvarez that I would say is so alarm more alarming than you think it is when you look at it from the inside and we will get in from the inside from talking about Eric Chavez who is the Mets main hitting coach or co- hitting coach I don't even know talking about how he's kind of pushed Alvarez in a certain way but Alvarez basically just said straight up I don't feel powerful which is concerning in a way as to where when he's talking about this certain approach that he's had this season from a guy like Eric Chavez who's been enforcing it when you talk about him not feeling powerful and then hearing these types of comments I am getting really really concerned not really shocked but very very concerned with how it's being carried out with other younger players and how all these guys are being brought up and how the Mets just continue to just fail to maximize Talent now let's get into what Eric Chavez said now uh for contexts at the beginning uh Tim Healey let us know saying that the problem stems from Alvarez's mentality at the plate and mixed messages that might confuse him the outside no noises and voices uh that he doesn't know who encourage him to Chase home runs to left field which is the opposite of a more well-rounded approach that led to his success Upon returning in June now Chavez for a quote talked about the improvements that were needed for Alvarez this from last season saying I've been telling him for the past couple weeks he's a high- performance sports car he needs to learn how to drive the sports car in second gear because he's got fourth gear fifth gear and it goes but he just needs to learn how to pump the brakes a little bit and control all that horsepower I told him listen you hit 25 home runs last year that's great I looked at your I looked at your year and I don't think it was very good there's a lot of areas that you could be better at now talking about the balance of his contact and power tools Eric Chavez went on to say everybody just wants to jump into home runs we've seen it across the leag League we promote home runs batting average doesn't get talked about I said in a c I said in a couple years you will be the best hitting catcher in the league but you need to learn how to hit first let's get your hit tool down and the power will come it's there the power is in the bag you got to make sure the hit tool and the consistency is there okay just taking a deep breath because when I read this article yesterday I don't even know how to explain how upset I was reading that and how sick I was but the main thing that I that I can pretty much I can just say from the top of my head everything that I know and assume about Eric Chavez I told you so I told you this is exactly who Eric Chavez is and and and he literally made it he made it so clear especially when it's designed around a young player where the first years of development are so crucial in the major leagues Chavez established exactly who he is right there in that article in that little snippet about a young player about the influence that he has on these young players basically saying you hit 25 home runs yet last year that doesn't mean [ __ ] 25 home runs again let's not forget that that's like half of what a that's like half of what a batting champion uh gets in total bases 25 home runs 100 100 total bases that's a lot of production let's just say again there's things he can work on again I get it but to just basically say that you hit 25 home runs showing off the power tool that we all know you have and then just saying oh well now it's time to hit for average kid you had your fun it's done makes me think that maybe first of all I was right about Eric Chavez second of all like are we getting two different approaches from two different hitting coaches like I'm I'm I'm like I am like I'm flabbergast like I I I can't believe what I'm reading right now I'm not saying that he doesn't need more balance because there was some streakiness that's the main reason that's why he was so streaky but like turning this turning a power Phenom catcher where he has this incredible tool that you can maximize at the major league level when he's worked on not chasing and worked on Pitch selection worked on pinch recognition I mean that is I mean I that's unacceptable I I I don't know how to feel about that you're basically saying that the main thing that you do to provide for a team offensively let's get rid of it let's toss it to the side let's focus on something completely new look how he has been this season offensively power numbers over just the overall approach from from Francisco Francisco Alvarez he looks like a 19-year-old up there he looks completely overmatched we've talked about it from prospects before Andrew one of our co-hosts who hasn't been here in a while uh for those of you um uh who know Andrew let him know to to get his ass back out here um he has talked about it when you're talking about somebody like Julio Rodriguez somebody like um Bobby wit they have kind of talked about just from the hitting the hitting standpoint saying you're going to play every day you tell the the young kid you're going to play every day be you this is the exact opposite of that this is how you destroy the development of a young player that is unreal for inst Frank you are one of the biggest Francisco Alvarez fans out there I mean I I can't even imagine how you felt reading all of this I was so upset that I I needed to get off the Twitter app for like a half hour to 45 minutes to just process what I just read because that is dis like that is awful that's disgusting what I just read unbelievable yeah I mean I I really can't believe that Chavez like you said made himself sound more incompetent than we already thought he was and there there were a few lines so we'll start from the top the beginning of I don't know who are the outside voices or the noise that is causing him to encourage the hit home runs to left field the opposite of the well-rounded proach that led to a success upon return to June what what does he mean he doesn't know who he's talking like what does he mean by that that you don't know your players that you don't know who they actually care about and who they listen to like that is just a really weird thing to say first of all like just very ambiguous I didn't like that but the thing that bothers me is that when we had this show last year and we were watching Francisco Alvarez hit all these home runs and they were talking about it like here's the thing that needs to be really focused on we're talking about a catcher that is the big part we're talking about a power hitting catcher catchers hitting 25 home runs does not happen very often and rookie catchers hitting 25 home runs pretty much never happens we talked about it that he the only guy that had more than him was Johnny Bench maybe the greatest catcher of all time it's not that Alfred's going to turn into the greatest hitting catch of all time but for a rookie he was on a fantastic track he was on great Pace are there things he needed to work on sure was his consistency great no and was his batting average very good no and then for him to say oh you know what batting average is important too well how about this Mr Chavez in the year where Francisco Alvarez hit 25 home runs he batted 209 in this year when he's only hit six home runs he's batting 236 so his batting average is up are you happy is it a success now and the thing that bothered there's two things that bothered me the most one thing that alare said one thing chave said the whole I don't think it was very good may be the worst thing I've ever heard a coach say to a young player like how do you do that here is Francisco Alvarez who by all accounts seems like a very happy guy he he he gets a lot of enjoyment out of playing the game of baseball he's very passionate and he has fun and he's handing all his home runs he's doing his celebrations he's getting into it he on getting these great comparisons and then as a at this at the time a 21-year-old player who's only in his first full season to say I don't think your year was very good that's just demoralizing to a young player and can really mess up we talk about the mental aspect of the game and that's what I really don't like a coach should not be belittling their players they should not be making them feel bad I mean they should be encouraging them being like good job now let's see what else we can improve that's all you can say you don't have to say I don't think your year was very good like he that just really kind of messes with your psych you want talk about like outside noise and voices I mean if I'm Francisco Alvarez that's the voice I would be hearing my coach telling me that what I thought was pretty good wasn't very good like that's very hurtful to to say that I mean so I really really hated that line I I was so aggravated when I saw that but then the thing that Alvarez said that really concerns me is that I don't feel very powerful now keep in mind this is a guy that all jokes aside does have a tattoo on his neck that says the best he is a very confident player he is someone who believes that he's very talented and he is very talented he wouldn't have been ranked such a high Prospect prior to the Mets calling him up last season if he wasn't the best or one of the best maybe outside outside of Elli rushman he he was that good as far as a young catcher so for him to not mentally feel that he's very powerful when we know he is very powerful what made me fall in love with Francisco Alvarez the player was seeing him with the Brooklyn Cyclones almost knocking people off the roller coaster and hitting stuff over the ferris wheel when we talked about Light Tower Power Hit Park non park by the way two left field that's where he was hitting them two to left field as a pull hitter and we talked so much about the approach of the new School of Baseball should be to pull fly balls and that's what he was doing and he was having great success hitting 25 home runs and for me if it's a young player in their first year and he did that I'm like more so okay let's just work on discipline pitch recognition and just maybe every now and then a two- strike approach maybe show up the swing sometimes that's it I'm not going to say let's just totally change your identity because the numbers in his batted ball show that there are some changes so last year he was at a pull percentage of 27 now he's at 22 he had an opposite field batted ball percentage of 16 now he's at 25 so he has changed his approach of now when he's hitting the ball it is going the other way but the problem is that his ground ball rate is up 6% and his Fly ball rate is down 12% so you're not going to be hitting 25 home runs if you're only Hing the ball in the air 19% of the time Chavez got what he wanted whatever he wanted he he got it and that's what I was saying is that you talk he Chavez cares so much about batting average Hey listen his batting average is up but the actual production and what he's providing it's not up his on base percentage is up but his slugging is down so much that overall his Ops is down so I just I really don't like that and I I feel like again if Alvarez was a guy that was if this was him he wouldn't have been ranked one of the top prospects in baseball especially from the offensive side so I like you said I just don't understand why like his Elite gift the thing that made him unique because most catchers don't do this can't do this you're going to take that from him that makes zero sense that is not good Player Development like we said that is not maximizing Talent you're trying to mold him into identity that is just not him like if you want to do your opposite field stuff and all this with the other do it with somebody else do it with someone like that's what they do not him like let him do what he's good at so I really just don't understand that and one other just gripe I I want to have about Eric Chavez just because he's just annoying me Eric Chavez the one of the things that he did really good as a player is he was a phenomenal defensive third baseman he won six gold gloves in a row how come I never see or ever hear about him working with Mark Vientos and his defense at third base why is that why is a guy who was a perennial Gold Glove player not actually doing something he's probably better at coaching and actually helping Mark ventos become a better Defender at third why is it I always see that Francisco Lindor is the one helping Mark Vientos with his setup and his feet and his footwork so once again Francisco Lindor is doing more coaching for the players than the pitching coach and the hitting coach and probably the Fielding coaches as well and that and again why he should be MVP so just overall for Chavez and obviously what Hefner we talk about extensively and we'll get into it more another time probably I I just I don't agree with it you know I I feel like and and the thing that really concerns me is I wonder what does David Sterns think like is David Sterns of the mindset that yes Francisco Alvarez should be a guy that's going to opposite field or should he be a guy that's pulling fly balls and going for power because that's where things get really interesting is that again we talked about him coming into the organization inheriting these coaches and part of me just Wonders that like if they were different faces in that Dugout as the coaching staff I'm not talking about Mendo I'm talking about the individual coach the pitching coach the hitting coach if a different hitting coach was here would they Embrace Alvarez's power and say no do what you do and we'll work on the other stuff just keep being you and we'll make everything else kind of fall into place and make you more of a complete player you know I I just wonder how many other hitting coaches share that philosophy of Eric Chavez and and does David Stern share because that's ultimately what matters a lot and listen if the Mets do bring in a new GM what's his philosophy how does he feel about Eric Chavez and the way he wants certain pull power hitters to be approaching hitting so I feel like it just leaves a lot of questions and just overall it doesn't make me very confident in what Eric Chavez brings as a hitting coach and what he could do to specifically young players and I don't feel comfortable with the prospects that we have for hitting for him to be the one that's developing them and trying to get the most out of them because he's probably just like Ryan Clifford you're going to try to make Ryan Clifford go opposite field as well like what are we doing here you know and we talked about you talked about tweet about with Alonzo he tried to do the same thing to Pete Pete is an amazing pull hitter prolific power hitter and you want him going the other way and doing all this other stuff so I just really don't get it I feel like like we talk about just overall a lot of these guys are approaches it's all over the place they wave at sliders outside the zone and they take fast balls down the middle or over the place with two strikes so there's just a lot of things that are fundamentally wrong with how this team approaches hitting and they were able to overcome it when everybody got on a hot streak but overall far too often you're just seeing them not play the game the proper way and it shows when they have men on base and these big opportunities when they consistently don't come through yeah I mean we've seen them streak you know streak through uh offense all season and we knew that there were going to be inconsistencies we've talked about the growing pains over and over again with Eric Chavez what really uh what really pissed me off uh from what I heard is to where he's saying oh the power is there it's there it's it's it's still there he you know he can use it in in fifth gear if he wants to it's there no it's not it really isn't this year it isn't he has some of the worst quality of contact in the League this year he's not hitting the ball hard he's not lifting the ball your hard hit rate dieses down too I mean he has some of of the I mean he he had um I mean he has it worse than Vientos had with like sweet spot of overall just like getting it into the barrel Zone uh Vientos has has improved mightily with that obviously with more ABS that he's got wow he play the young guy he gets more that's crazy um he's still chasing pitches he's still striking out uh more than like he's he's getting what he wants from Alvarez but he's still not giving you the results what's ever so if you wanted to turn him into a contract a contact hitter you failed you're failing he's only 22 years old I get it there's still tons of things he's got to learn but what the [ __ ] he hit 20 25 home runs last year and you're going to tell me that's not good enough let's not build on those 25 home runs let's just flip everything over let's just undo everything that the hidden coaches in um the hitting coaches in the minor leagues did um develop ing you as a young 16-year-old when you signed here as compared to also what Jeremy Barnes did who I think is a better Coach uh who I think is a better hitting coach than uh Eric Chavez because every single thing that I hear from Jeremy Barnes he seems to be getting these players back on track we've talked about nmo of how he's gotten uh nmo on track to pulling more fly balls and uh you know more more power yes he struggled recently but we talked about that last year where he was able to maximize his power DJ Stewart was another one they've talked about uh that Jeremy Barnes really worked with fairly well Jeff mcneel they talked about him hitting more line drives look what happened with Jeff mcneel he looks great now so I don't know if you have two sides of a hitting two sides of a you know two you know two cheeks of the same ass or you have one hitting coach that one one one likes you all left-handed hitters and Chavez was a left-handed hitter so it's just overall very confus he was a switch hitter he was the scrappy little switch hitter that would hit for average yeah he was a switch I thought he was left-handed oh wow interesting I just I if I'm sorry no he he was a leftand he was left-handed hitter who Chavez I thought he was a switch hitter that's the main reason why they they knocked it together like oh Chavez a switch hitter lindor's a switch hitter do bats left on the old baseball reference page was he oh I guess now never mind scratch that but I just I I really it everything that I knew about Eric Chavez every everything that I thought about Eric Chavez from what I saw it's exactly what I expected and and this is this is exactly this is exactly right coming from ra Ranger Central one of my guys python um saying uh Chavez thinks that this is the early 20s it's early 2000s early 2000s and then it's true it is true it's outdated if you're going to bring that to if you're going to bring that approach to a power hitting catcher what the [ __ ] are we doing right now and I also again just little things just noticing little things even though we know he has been great defensively we are seeing the bat struggles transfer to the other side of the field where he's behind the plate he has been he has not looked sharp in this slump at all from both sides so if you're gonna if if we're going to take that out of there I mean let's just say Francisco Alvarez he's a confident guy we've talked about that again we know that his confidence is the main thing and the same same way uh python coming in saying his confidence looks shot it is completely shot he's a confident guy he plays off of his confidence talking about the mental game whatever you never know you're not inside the player's head but when you have a very confident guy who has a tattoo like you said the best the full-on confidence coming into the league as a very young age as a catcher very rare and he says to you I don't feel powerful when his best tool is his power power that's in that that is insane to me that is insane and also when he hit the massive home run where did he hit it to did he pull that ball or did they go to Chavez's opposite field no he he pulled the crap out of it it looked like a Brooklyn Cyclone side Francisco AVS home run so like it's just overall I I just don't understand it and then even there's something to to be said of like muscle memory and habits because even though like Chavez is trying to change his approach everything I still do see alas take some of those vicious hacks that he's known for where it's a pull hitter hack so it's like you're he's really caught in a bit of an identity crisis where like and as long as it's in the strike zone I would I don't care go ahead and do it big guy go ahead and do it if it's in the strike zone try to beat the living crap out of it the problem is and I've talked about it before and this goes in and it's pretty much obvious now Chavez just said so thank you Chavez for opening your mouth there has been so many opportunities where I see meatballs down the middle he is staring at them or he's taking them the other way the full on the fullon overall quality of contact the overall whether you want to talk about actual damage or expected damage from him with pitches inside the zone does doesn't exist this year he doesn't look like a hitter trying to be more balanced he looks like a hitter who is lost he looks like a hitter that if he wasn't such a good defensive catcher he would be sent down right now that's how bad he has looked and I have talked about the full-on concerns about Alvarez's uh like inconsistency of quality of contact I've talked about that as an overall concern of mine they're just feeding right into it they're not trying to make that bet they're not trying to talk about overall damage as a hitter I mean not to mention I mean if you want to talk about him as as an overall hitter if he's hitting for actual batting average that's the type of hitter you want he's not doing it well I mean come on that is that is UN that is ridiculous how do you just say to a young kid who is 21 years old at a time and say you hit 25 home runs that's not good enough let's scrap this let's do something else are you are you [ __ ] kidding me that is somebody that is a coach that I know does not live in this Century who lives in that point where batting average mattered where getting singles mattered getting on base is so big getting on base is important it helps the entire Team sets these guys up for RBI situations that's a known fact but you also have to take into account that this getting on base Moneyball stuff that was over 20 years ago the game has changed way more than that and then I got people on Twitter basically disag saying oh he's 100% right yeah because batting average is literally drilled right into the back of your [ __ ] skull and nothing else matters if you had if you have nine hitters in your life up trying to hit for average you are going to be one of the worst and I mean the worst hitter you are going to be one of the worst and I mean the like the worst offense in all of baseball because that's just not what the game is now I'm not saying everybody needs to hit 50 home runs to be good I'm not saying that what I'm saying is maximize the tools that these players have Francisco Alvarez 70 grade raw power 60 grade 65 grade uh Power I mean even if I'm to looking at his hit chart just by simplistic hit chart I'm seeing some of these home runs like these he has pulled five he has pulled five and when he does pull them with you know meanor exit velocity because pulling the ball get you more exit velocity he is clearing the left fail fets way like Way Beyond that above the Great Wall of flushing way past that that's not a hitter's park right so we know what his power can display what did his power display earlier this week last week it won the G the team the game even if he's struggling or not home runs cover a lot of sins it always will power covers a lot of sins let's not forget that seven to one game that they won the the third game of this series not many anybody in that lineup was doing much Francisco Lindor one big swing of the bat Grand Slam and this is basically it it's it's it's the fullon like just it is the the full-on definition Yuki coming in saying Eric Chavez basically told Francisco Alvarez to stop hitting home runs what makes makes you so great we're not going to do that he's saying that okay well batting average isn't looked at this these days we're all talking about the home runs let let me let me just ask you a question Frank one of the best offensive catchers in all of baseball Salvador Perez if he was not a catcher he probably would be a first ballot Hall of Famer uh cuz he's so horrendous behind the plate do you ever see Salvador Perez batting 300 no when he's making a threat for 40 home runs every year exactly historic numbers power numbers pulling the ball in Kaufman Stadium yeah yeah always pulling and you could say that is the same kind of situation because City Field ain't a hitter's park so you're talking about that and and I've seen a lot of kind of salvi comparisons from him like um CU like there is tendency to chase Tendencies to to swing and Miss but when there's a ball in the zone and he can make and he can uh make contact with it he's going to do a lot of damage that's what Salvador Perez does so if you're talking about being one of the best hitting catchers in the league that has nothing to do with hitting for hitting 300 especially when you talk about the recent standard if you want to talk about that the recent standard that you played in Mr Eric Chavez the best hting catchers were hitting home runs so I don't know where the [ __ ] he's getting that at not every good hitter Just Hits 300 that's not that's not a fact it just isn't a fact and they shouldn't be there's a m there's a reason why you don't have guys batting that many guys batting over 300 there's a reason you have like what do you have like nine guys batting over 300 in the league these days it's not because pitching has changed they throw harder now they have bigger they have a lot more stuff that is to where you can't be an efficient guy who just bats 300 that's it that's all I'm going to do I'm just going to hit for contact you need a lot more than that and what you need is what you can get from Francisco Alvarez that makes me really really concerned of how I feel about a lot of these young guys coming up when we talk about this whole youth movement especially talking about some of these young bats they don't look like they're going to maximize anyone in all of MLB eight eight did I say nine eight there's eight I mean Soto's 299 and Mar and catella is 298 so it probably was but right now it's eight and a lot of these guys it's like it's like 301 303 304 like you have you have two you have two guys who are just ridiculous and wi and judge and then maybe vlat and then you have the rest of the league basically yeah exactly I I just don't know where he's coming from I know I do know where he's coming from but it just not it's not from this Century it just isn't it's not from this century and then that that's is just that is ridiculous and we've had our our trolling arguments before back and forth you and me Frank talking about batting average and the significance of other stats should Francisco Lindor or Francisco L could Francisco Alvarez be thriving to hit 300 absolutely not you want to go 240 250 whatever this guy has the bat to hit 40 home runs in a season 30 home runs in a season and you're just going to say no that's not good enough we're just going to toss this away that's unbelievable I I can't I I'm so upset as to what I read that like I I've lost pretty much just all hope in the hitting development of this team I really have after what I just read when they're making it that impressionable on young players that's unbelievable that's unbelievable 25 home runs compared to six in almost as many plate appearances as he had last year half of that is is Francisco is Francisco Alvarez a 12 home run bat he absolutely is not that's unbelievable and here you go to kind of further the difference in errors I back to 2006 because that's a year Eric Chavez played there were 38 hitters that hit 300 and the guy who was in 10th Place hit 326 icher was 11th at 322 so it's just catchers uh Joe Mau led the league at 347 and he just went to the Hall of Fame few weeks ago but other than that he was the only catcher in here there you go oh Ivon Rodriguez hit 300 also a Hall of Famer there you go oh there you go so you know Victor Martinez 316a for the Mets he actually hit 318 but that was just a career year but you know yeah I mean and and yet again you know there are catchers that you can put into that 300 mark as to where a 300 300 is a good hitter you're also talking about 2006 where it was 18 years ago you know the game has changed since then it's a lot different and you know here's the best way to wrap it up I think um uh python coming in saying uh it's a it's not a confidence even with with batty how he's pulling the ball better in in Triple A versus up here and I'm not saying batty would be elite up here either way but he should be serviceable and that's that's the thought that everybody does get as to where you see this type of batted ball data as to where they've been able to do that his first game of his career he pulled a really nice home run and then Eric to's like wait no don't do that stop stop being good do it like this instead hit it on the ground I just go for B unbelievable I can't I cannot I just I I have lost all hope in the hitting development now after hearing that I really have and that may sound like a complete overreaction maybe oh well Francisco Francisco Alvarez he's still young it's fine that is that is concerning a guy known for his Bat and that's what they're kinding trying to Resort him to good coaches maximize players they don't minimize them that's what that sounded like and maybe there's a different rebuttal from him as to where he's like oh this is not what I was trying to say but I mean it's all been displayed on the field this is what you're seeing you are seeing a shell of Francisco Alvarez from last year and he's only 22 years old that's concerning that's really concerning let's just say that I mean that is I I I don't I don't even know where to even go there and maybe there is a possibility with the thumb injury maybe that has some kind of impact with and the is it possible is it possible he's a catcher he gets beaten up but I'm just I'm I'm really I I don't know I don't even know what to say I just I I am so disgusted at what I read yesterday from the voice of Eric chav is a guy I've been ex uh skeptical of from the beginning and I don't want to hear from his track record that he's had such a great career and he was so great I don't want to hear that because that doesn't translate as a coach none of that stuff kinds that none of that type of stuff translates it's all about the overall philosophy his philosophy is from when he played and he has no purpose of of you know has no purpose of of of of like moving it like he has no purpose of of like it's just the over all damage that he could be doing to pitches and just leaving it there out on the table when the Mets really do need it and just flipping it off like flipping it around like this I just I have had I've had it with Eric Chavez and here's another good point for python saying my favorite is the excuses the weather the outside noise you can never say it's my job to make these guys better and I'm not and he's not he isn't he just isn't I mean can you name one massive impact player like look look what's going on with Pete Alonzo right now even though a lot of it is the fault of his own he hasn't been out be not been good with runners in scoring position we know that he's better than a sub30 home run Pace we know he's way better than that whether you think he's regressed or not whether you think think he's not going to age well we know that he can hit more than 30 home runs in his season and he've T and and and I know that that is also gotten into his head because if you were to look at Pete Alonzo talking about using the field of kind of jamming himself if you want to talk about him being as a pull pull hitter and that this is a common misconception talking him being a pull hitter and jamming himself that's not the main reason as to why he's trying to pull the ball he's trying to use the field a little too much the opposite field batted ball data that's as high as it's ever been in his career but the problem here is that he's not getting good quality of contact either the the infield fly rate through the roof this season it's another problem with him it's just I I really am I'm tired of it I just I don't know how the Mets continue to bring in all these coaches that just try to do the bare minimum and just tell me yep well we're not going to maximize anything we're not going to make players better even though that's our job we're just gonna put them at you know I don't know second gear let's say as Eric Chavez said second gear even though we know they can maximize this even though we know they have this skill put it to the side let's do something else because this is what the model citizen from 1945 did unbelievable I really I could go on forever but we don't have that much time we're already over the 2hour mark so let's get into studs and Duds for this series there are some clear pieces there are some uh that aren't clear pieces that you can you know point out four game set Frank I'll go to you for for your stud of this Mets Padres series we got to start doing this like right after our series recap because it makes it makes more sense to do it as a flow but eh whatever we're used to doing it here all yeah no I I would give it to Lindor especially that game the multihomer game he really kind of carried the team there and just uh would came through in the spots where they needed him the most as far as like you know this is a big series you're counting on your leader to kind of lead by example and he did that uh making obviously great plays in the field being the pitching coach like he just did like we said so many different things to help them win and just always gets the team going gets them on the right foot whether he does it right-handed or left-handed so he's just doing it in every aspect all right for my end I I mean I feel like I feel like I'm broken record because I feel like these two guys are just here every single every single episode but I mean Mark Vientos again just another great series from him showing off the power situationally and just overall just being the second guy in command behind uh Francisco Lindor who's been um amazing moving up to that two spot big responsibility and he is passed that test with flying colors let's just say that let's get to the Duds uh because there was some ugly in here uh who do you got yeah I I got uh Mr husar brazoban um that was just such a a brutal performance even though the Mets won that game it's just the way that it happened was just really frustrating to watch is that the Mets put him like in this golden opportunity when they're up 8 to one so you're pitching with a seven-run lead and the guy was struggling so mightily to throw a strike it took him 36 pitches to finish off that inning after giving up two runs and again for Francisco Lindor to have to go to a veteran pitcher and literally push him through the inning and have to constantly motivate him every single pitch to battle through is just really unacceptable when by all accounts he has a lot of red circles he's got great stuff there are things to like about what he should be able to provide and it just hasn't been there and to me I just don't see how and the fact that again he was going to be sent down to the miners he was but then blackberg got hurt so he came back up so I just I don't see it right now with this current pitching regime this guy is just constantly missing uh particularly on the outside corner to righties so I just I'm very just concerned and very frustrated with just how it's been with him and it's just happening too often where he just comes in and he's just not looking good at all so it it's been rough for him and the Mets were able to win that game because of how good the offense was and the rest of the bullpen outside of him and saverino so I just think overall it was just such an ugly performance that it was just really annoying to watch you're up 81 it's the ninth inning and also like it's a 9:40 game it's like 12:30 eastern time like I just want to go to bed can you throw a strike and and we could just get out of this like please enough yeah um we've talked about the deadline kind of just being very underwhelming uh Bron's been one of the main reasons as to why um and I just I I feel like it's it's it's just come with Trend it to me it's a coaching issue it just is and and I I know we can go on and on about that and some people love Jeremy Hefner and some people don't but I just I I really think that the with the constant trends of what you have seen things go down as it they need to they need to address it and I don't know if they're going to but I I'm I'm waiting for them to do it and finally just just let Sterns hire his own own guys because Sterns has tried everything this year he really has he has tried everything and there's been so many pieces that he has brought in where I'm like okay I see it I see why he likes it but they there's no execution there isn't and that has to be said about the coaching it just has to um now speaking of somebody who has been good for us uh I'm going to put budo in this category uh it it has nothing to do with with the the fullon results or whatever uh cuz yes he gave up the the game tying home run he wasn't able to find the strike zone he's struggled to find the strike zone all season and I think that's kind of really uh been overshadowed by again I don't know if it's it's it's less of the David Peterson uh realm but like it's it's been it's been somewhat noticeable his command does not grade out well uh his Arsenal isn't great and I've talked about it as to where he succeeds off of pitch pitch shape and that's the main reason as to where he's a little bit of a more marginal pitcher as compared to some people that are putting him in that those types of situations I just don't think this is a high leverage arm I I just don't see it I think denell Nunes and Diaz are your back end of the back end of the bullpen budo can either be middle relief or be in the in the because I I I've seen Parts where yes he's you know he's he's getting bulk Innings or whatever and if they want to do that they can he just does I mean he has swing he has swing and Miss stuff but you can't have this lack of explosiveness a lot of uncompetitive pitches and just be a high leverage reliever it just I I and again you can shove the erra in my face as much as you want but I just don't see the tools that can allow him to be in these high leverage High leverage situations I know a lot of people like to compare him to like the Seth Lugo where he was a starter he ain't Seth Lugo he's just not Seth Lugo he's a little bit more limited to that yes he's a completely different pitcher now um but trying to maximize him to a high leverage reliever when he just doesn't have high leverage stuff he just doesn't I just I just don't like that and I get it he's the only been like the only reliable arm for us I get it but I I don't see him as a high uh High leverage um piece I just don't I really don't and whether you agree with me on that or not again it all gets fluctuated but I'm see I was also seeing like you know I I I like to do this pitch by pitch I've always been somebody who's done a pitch by pitch there's been pitches that are very very uncompetitive that he has thrown that I'm like high leverage guys cannot be doing that high leverage guys cannot be doing that you know Marquee pieces of the bullpen cannot be doing that and I know he's gotten the good results but there still are some weaknesses that he still faced his entire career before he even reinvented his Arsenal before he deepened it out which is why I believe that he should be in the starting rotation as to where he doesn't worry about the nibbling and he can just focus on throwing competitive pitches because I think he does it a lot better than somebody like McGill who has that same problem and also sometimes as a reliever he finds himself in a situation where he comes in with runs on base like he did yesterday so that gives you even less room for error if you're going to be walking batters or falling behind in counts so like you said that does make it much tougher to be a reliever but I feel like because of the struggles that Adam adino has had and Reed Garrett and others that he's been he's been kind of and with nun's being hurt he was kind of just thrown into that role because he did have some nice performances um so like you said overall the the walks per nine is almost at five so that that is a lot that definitely is a lot to put into tough spots compared to Nunes who's in the twos so like you said Nunes should be in the back end with Diaz if you want Bo to be like long reliever middle reliever or hopefully a starter especially if Blackburn is hurt like I would rather and again like we said it's kind of tough like with time constraints but it would be more reasonable to have budo eventually become a starter than to try to put Miguel back in the rotation I feel like that would be the safer option overall but I don't think that's something they're going to do yeah I I'm looking at it right now and again this can change because bullpens and Bullpen arms can continue to be finicky seventh inning Phil maton eighth inning denell nuned Diaz and I I think that you know you can kind of work off that that relief um because you get a lot of swing and miss and you get a lot of it's not explosive stuff but you get um just just overall I would just say I'm not starting to say solid just like an overall stable arm in Phil maton that can kind of maneuver the final Innings and and his walk is in as well one of the very few guys that has that very very few like a couple exactly I mean the Walks from the bullpen have still been they were a massive issue to start the season they're better now doesn't say much but they're gonna come back to bite him they just are and and I just don't see is on the roster anymore he had a seven def's not on the roster so that pretty much clears up a lot of it that's that's true um but with uh Jose Buddha I just I just don't see him as a situational type of pitcher I just I don't see it I get it as a bulk inning guy who can be stretched out to a starter I get that I don't see it as 789 I I I don't see his his future is that because I just don't see him developing that type of stuff that he can maneuver strikeouts the way that people think he is without walking the entire ballpark like he has been but it hasn't gone on full notice now speaking of uh full notice let's get to the injury report kodai senga there was a report from Tim Healey as well Tim Healey's been pretty uh busy in the news day this week saying that the final week of the regular season has not been ruled out for kodai Sanga he will begin throwing while standing upright later this week not putting weight on the calf injury he has yet to hit all the rehab checkpoints so it's possible they said that to basically look at it as a Edwin Diaz return from last year all depends on where the Mets are in positioning could it be possible but they are not ruling it out as a potential timetable Paul Blackburn the main injury uh story today um he left Friday night's game after uh being struck in the right in his right hand on a comebacker to the mound the CTC scan uh only revealed a bruise no uh no structural damage and he has been placed on the uh on the 15-day injured list uh with Tyler McGill as a possible uh replacement in the rotation for him coming up in this series Brett batty exited Thursday's game in Syracuse after being hit on the index finger on a check swing the MRI imaging has revealed a bone fracture which he is expected to now miss four to six weeks of play which pretty much takes him out of the equation to be called up on September 1st so there are there's a different position player that will be called up we can um uh we could touch on that a little bit if we had a little bit more time but if there if there's anybody um that you think you have your eye on do you think Drew Gilbert is something that could be uh could be considered because he has been getting hot recently do you think they add in lisan H aunia I hope it's not just DJ Stewart I feel like it's probably DJ Stewart unfortunately I just that's just the sense I get um I don't think it would be aunia I like the idea of Gilbert because of what he provides as far as like being left-handed the speed and just overall the fact that he is a high ranked prospect that you kind of want to see what he has again I feel like if he didn't have the injury earlier this year and he had enough minor league reps in Triple A there's a much better chance we we' have seen the call up but he right now he's swinging a hot bat and for power hopefully Chavez doesn't ruin that and because he's pulling the ball as well so I feel like if he continues to be that hot give it a shot but I I mean I still feel they'll likely just take the safe easy route yeah it's possible again we we'll see what they do um I think that our next show will will it line up to September 1st I'm not sure uh it may be it may be possible be before that no it will be no it will be one more day or two days yeah two days okay so we'll we we'll we'll know uh the episode after next episode uh so episode number 79 we'll know uh who was called up um but uh other than that let's get into what is coming up now uh as we are continuing to get over that 2hour threshold of recording but we have had a lot to say there's been a lot to discuss after this because a lot of hurt feelings let's just say after this series of what has been going on but let's get into the upcoming series which is in Arizona another crucial team that is ahead of them in the Wild Card race sham manah gets game one he will he will face off Brandon F who I like to call Brandon um game two goes to Luis srino he will face off against Eduardo Rodriguez some of the Mets that were somebody the Mets were chasing in free agency but never really got close to uh was injured this entire year he's only pitched 16 Innings and then game three most likely it looks like it strong chance which will be a day game at 3:40 first two or night games at at 940 on the 29th Tyler McGill will get game three most likely against Ryan Nelson another young pitcher in the uh Diamondback staff uh keys to success going into this one I I mean again we do have one name in game three that is quite a concern let's just say that uh making the start possibly again there's a possibility that they do start Peterson uh on the 5 days rest that he has regularly been getting these past this past month so we'll see uh but Frank's keys to this series going in uh again this is a team that's ahead of them as well as San Diego yeah they're really going to need the rotation to do what they did against San Diego outside of what Paul Blackburn did because Arizona is also a team that does have a lot of talent like there is a reason why they are red hot and having such a good season they just have a lot of really good players and they're doing it without Christian Walker who we said was snubbed from the All-Star game because they pick up Josh Bell off of waivers from the Marlins and he just went ridiculous for them and then Gabriel Mareno gets hurt their Catcher And they call up Adrien del Castillo who then plays amazing right now catel Marte who is also in my opinion MVP candidate probably that that third finalist like if it's up to me I'd probably say like Otani Lindo and catel like my three guys in the National League he's hurt right now so the Arizona is still playing really well despite not having catel Marte but they just have a lot of guys that contribute for them like jock Peterson does stuff for them and paven Smith and lordes gel Jr like they just have so many guys that contribute anio Suarez like they just have name after name and the same goes like in the rotation like those are some tough names that you showed but they're not using Zack Gallen or Merl Kelly but they're still giving you Eduardo Rodriguez and a couple of nice arms and then out the bullpen they add Dylan floro who gave the Mets plenty of problems out of the pen they also have AJ Puck who's are Lefty were great stuff they have Paul cald who's killed the Mets and also have Ryan Thompson who an arm that I like a lot from Tampa Bay so they just have a lot of different ways that they could win and I feel like for the Mets it's going to come down to the starting pitching to keep them in games and then just hope that Lindor Vientos or somebody else could get a big hit cuz that's the only way it's going to happen I I just feel like if the rotation has like a bad start or whatever ever I don't think Arizona is going to do the same especially with that Bullpen as well that you're not going to have a chance so it really comes down to the rotation to do what they did again like especially you have manah you have saverino those have been like your two most steady horses you need them to do their thing and I hope it's David Pi in game three and not Miguel I feel like that's a lot to ask for him just kind of boom let's throw you into the Arizona Series so we'll see what they decide but I think that game three like who's going to be the starter is going to be really big yeah I do agree with you on that sense as the first two games with srino and manah you are hoping you get a quality start from them because when you're talking about the back end of the rotation against Arizona they are hitable they're not just completely Untouchable we'll see if the Mets uh treat them as such but if you get sixth Innings pitched three earned runs from manah and seino that is one 100% ideal you need those guys uh to really really step up because with Arizona even though they have added power since last season they still are a team that you can beat in the margins and a lot of and that is kind of how they won last year but if you beat them at their own game that's going to be uh the main possibility uh that's going to be the main possibility of winning this series is if you can kind of keep up with how many tools that they use out there and the main thing that I'm looking at is hopefully they start stealing a lot more bases to manfacture a lot of runs because let's not forget if you're talking about sacrific flies that is one of the biggest outfields in all of baseball in Arizona so they need to take advantage of that as to where if the offense is not getting going somebody gets on base they need to start stealing they need to start manufacturing Those runs and hopefully you get that from Lindor but we're also hoping to get that from maybe Ty Taylor maybe some Harrison Bader as well uh we saw nmo start running a little bit this season so hopefully they use it with their legs I'm hoping to see Marte get the green light to steal now like I want to see has he stole a base yet since he's come back one okay we need to see uh them basically use their legs to kind of try and outplay this team offensively same thing goes for uh you know with Alonzo uh every single time step it up do come through do something I mean like be the Pete Alonzo we know that you are JD Martinez hopefully he builds on the uh home run he got last night throw home run he got yesterday um Francisco Lindor keep doing you and Mark Vientos keep doing you they just need to they do need to take advantage of the athleticism that they have on this team in this series I do am a I am a big believer uh in kind of winning in the margins with a team like Arizona especially with the ballpark that they have again like I said a huge Outfield space to take advantage of a massive Outfield to hopefully play that type of situational baseball if they need it and win in the margins when the offense is just not doing well against pitching that is pretty good on Arizona these guys are all major league arms as for Tyler McGill if he does end up starting the third game just exist for five five innings try I I just I've obviously have had a soft spot for Tyler McGill but right now the confidence in him as a starter all time alltime low for me I'm not feeling good about that game uh with McGill but maybe he'll surprise us I I don't know but we we'll we'll see what happens uh hopefully we get something from him uh that is not just three Innings of crap and uh hopefully they do win because again this is a team that is in front of them they're running at a time like I've said maybe they can gain some good ground in three games I hope that they do two and a half games out uh the Braves can only lose so much in front of you you got to gain some gain some ground and hopefully you're in within Striking Distance the next time that you play him but other than that uh parting words going into uh the next episode going into the next series uh Frank what do you think uh last final thoughts off the top of your head yeah so since it's not a four game set you can't split so you either going to win this series or you're going to lose this series you're either going to gain ground on Arizona or lose ground so you know when you're two and a half you and you're getting close to September you can't really afford to lose more ground it it's must- win you know that's really what it comes down to you got to find a way you got to dig deep even again if the vs have to manage a little differently even if they use Diaz in a non-safe situation in the eighth inning or something or maybe trust phille M on more or just do stuff that you don't normally do even if to start pulling fly balls not looking for the opposite field like you might have to do some different things you really want to actually see some different results and that doesn't mean just changing the order of the lineup so uh I again we want to see more sense of urgency like you said if a Marte wants to be aggressive on the bases go for it you know I I just think that like this is really getting very close to do or die so uh they really got to do so they don't die yeah obviously again a split in San Diego probably would have been good in other circumstances but left a sour taste in our mouth just wasn't great um hopefully they get get it a little bit better with this off day uh they have a rest they go to Arizona not a long travel from San Diego and hopefully you know they're more refreshed going into this series as compared to uh how this last series in San Diego went so hopefully you know hopefully they just uh are able to get it together just play Better Baseball uh all around let's just say that um and and just help Francisco Lindor like somebody help Francisco Lindor he's doing so much heavy lifting right now besides Vientos somebody else in that lineup's got to step up and lead us to Victory going down the stretch of the Season guys 31 games left in the Ser in the season we are coming down to the final crunch of the season and uh yeah don't piss us off but other than that thank you guys so much
