on point simply tries to hit the ball up the middle and the other way Lopez has obviously played the bulk of his playing time this year at different spots so NOA may be more suited for second at least for now elevated F different positions just to see how they work and what they're doing Burger's been aggressive uh his he ain't thinking no more he's up there swinging and that's a beautiful thing hopefully trying to break out of whatever maybe power slump he's been in lately that's a especially a guy like me now first inning at all he strikes out the [Applause] side to DC after this one you got that right first pitch swinging kind of fppa the short stop ran Reynolds gets DH Judy today Joey Bart behind the plate can ball for the Marlins today [Music] and Mel Bull pin's in good shape ground ball to the third baseman Norby Scoops it up and one away bmz uh can get this defense to stay busy especially uh in the infield now you got again switch hitter Brian Reynolds from the right o nice pitch one and0 toward the corner and Sanchez not going to get there and it kicks off his glove Reynolds on his way to second base by Reynolds it's a good thing that Sanchez when he got there the ball didn't get past him he got glove on it uh away from him but the way that he knocked it meant that the ball didn't go all the way and a ball outside times in his career that number 25 on the season ball was let go by San Francisco earlier this year and has put together a pretty solid we told you falter on the other side has not hit anybody all season long in over 18 hopefully Bart's all right A lot of times relievers do [Applause] that one ball one strike the bases will be loaded first time that Lopez has been on that side of the bag and there for the Marlin to make another air here the top of that list will hit his 20th home run playing showing the young kids what you need to do at this level to finish the season off B about McCutchen who's not in the lineup today and when he first came to the big leagues eight seasons in a pirates uniform with 20 homers to join Willie starel that one foued back from a veteran player and he provides that Chapman also to the mid-40s in the second inning and so again we weren't sure what it was going to was it going to be an opener right situation where maybe you're hoping to get four or five he now a pitch clock violation there so James Jean what's going on I think he walked to first base I think Reynolds well if that was you know that's interesting because Jazz in milwa everybody's in there and ready to go apparently whatever uh kind of waited the clock had started and then all of a sudden there was four or five seconds left on Fly ball out toward deep left Jus luzardo leino Rod Allen up in the broadcast Booth very happy and Gonzalez and in 60% of the time but to get to that slider you got to throw some first pitch fast balls and two pitches Monday presents our Marlin live pregame show tomorrow and it looks like that might be it for McMillan next pitch [Music] from a hopefully he's okay and it's more precautionary than anything but from a bullpen to begin with but looks like xaven Curry is going to come in out of the bullpen well Curry will get as much time as he needs and we will step aside for the departure of John McMillan will send it your way threw only two pitches and gave George and 20 strike outs he's walked six opponent's hitting two last time out was again against the Philadelphia Phillies that was his four Phillies were just swinging a hot bat yeah the Phillies though were in Toronto before they came to loses he'll get set to face O'Neal Cruz and as we take a look at his extra three three doubles and look at the one there how high did that thing go my goodness at some point in time once he learns how to Back Spin the baseball before being traded to the Pittsburg Pirates in 2017 and you the way that he glided into that catch late in the last night on that still set to do it but he has to get it in his mind that he's not a short stop anymore he did not want to go that just goes to show you how good he is and how high the you threw him one that one rolls foul and Norby gets to it quick before that decided to be interesting re who double scored in the first inning and he wasn't ready for the fast B he still tried to hit it but he was looking for one swing no no he was looking for something else and he still tried to hit the fast B which is the perfect example three balls and two strikes with a runner at first base and nobody out that Runner goes this to be found on that play and Curry ran over there and made a play how about that right away look where Norby's playing Norby had no shot to get there because he was playing at the short stop position the race over to make the play himself Conor Joe now takes a fast ball away yeah you're right one ball one strike here to Joe pop back be at FPL we're working every single day to get you the reliable elect out to right makes the [Music] catch since put on the pirate uniform Lopez to the bag we will head the fourth inning three nothing off walk for Kyle Stowers in the third inning he was erased on a double play so Bailey falter in the first inning struck out for the first five Marlins hitters so they'll look to looks like he's getting ready for he straightens out different and one top fast ball at about 92 but he's thrown quite a few of those today he's got for whatever reason got a little bit of a rally and we came up short on both days but that seemed like I don't know why that is I'm glad we get to say it that's Scout that's for sure that's what I will tell my wife Jake burer with two outs and nobody on takes a erra thus far has been on today and Cruz gets to that one hit it right on the nose on the Millan who faced just one batter in the third inning here in the fourth a foul down the he will mix in a curve also has a change in a splitter that's slider up and out of the zone and well Rod you you almost have to imagine and you if there is a new player to make his Marlin's debut that'll be number 70 again we we don't know yet but Marlins did uh make players and different things like that but uh the future's bright when you look at excitement uh as far as the ball Club is concerned with some of the pieces that he's added he could have got something for no value here buddy he could he would have traded us too for a long time and and so an Outsiders perspective being the point that I'm trying to make here it's one thing uh a agreed with our basically our assessments that the draft before the trade deadline obviously the Marlins were where they were bottom deadline that the Marlins moving up and to really middle of the pack or even top not I mean teams try to rebuild teams have been doing it for the last decade or so or were able to turn the corner and wion a world championship Cubs did it Astros did organization and turning it upside down and that's what Mr Bend did credit to the front office to try to bring in guys that have something to offer guys have had to deal with there's a ground ball off the mound takes a funny hop Lopez steps on the bag and that will do it we'll head to the fifth inning Pirates up but uh 5 and 1 half months later he looks like a much different pitcher he's not allowed a hit the strike zone at about 89 to 91 you don't have to throw 95 to be successful quite a few strikes only 45 pitches right that was erased on a double play he just threw a bride a two- slider by you it's exactly what he tried to three balls one [Music] strike alter in Sanchez Sanchez could probably win a couple of these battles nothing to do with his improved batting um his improved plate appearances against left-handed pix form he's uh obviously at this point got to be able to hit righties and lefties and to see those jumps forward is is huge for a guy that he's got to cut a swing down just a little bit that leg kick he had been not been that foot down and put the ball [Music] [Music] in usually the uh home play onire will call that ball before it get to that bag oh this is the one that Tommy knows that is correct sir bouncing ball play so the second baseman couldn't get there so would not be a 543 double play so uh FFA had to get there to get the out and try to turn the double play ball to Center his first time up Sanchez dancing off of first base but stays but he gets the start against the Lefty there goes Sanchez a swing in a miss a sidearm Sling from Bart that's good jumps and very seldom does he get thrown out I mean he gets a really good jump here and then he slides head head first and slide hard at times I like it when he slides rather see them go feet first if you're out you're just out between your legs so the ball doesn't scoot through take a look here that's Tex look right there so big and his hands are so SL it's a real good look at that slider right there how it looks like a fast ball the hands of the hitter is it a little more cutter that's an algorithm thing nobody's punching up a button I'm just curious if it team is so young they throw lots of breaking pitches even though at second base two outs on the top of the fifth inning big down and he can hit it a long way Mar without a hit through five as we head to the bottom of the fifth inning here at PNC Park Paul srino Rod Allen with you up in the broadcast booth that Xavier has not played and our offense is such more efficient when he's in the lineup and they've got it's it's funny that you bring that up or interesting that you bring that up because as we always talk about and Pa you can't do that but why is is it that when Xavier Edwards is not and when he's on base whoever's batting number two more than likely they're going to get some fast balls and this was Norby and up to three runs and then John McMillan comes in he faces only one batter before he going to have the inherent stress of a bullpen day and now going into put [Music] out we up against DJ hers who has had some good outings against the Marlins this year off the end of the bat ranging is sooha throws off balance yesterday at the short stop position and I didn't get a chance to ask Jody Reid about that particular play but or he didn't think he was going to get that feed from uh the pitcher Pez at Short Stops and OHA at second base making a nice play to keep probably that's what Cruz is going to get a short stop than anything but a line out in a one two three fifth inning so I could shine in the sixth inning of game three hopefully the Marlins breaking ball from biley [Music] falter and should they need him for something he's going to swing at bad pitches he's got really nice plate discipline NOA pops out to shallow right for the first out now a word from FPL I well a guy who's really turned it around at the plate in the second half is Nick forz in the first 67 games of the season was hitting just 178 but in his last 28 games hitting 341 and Rod you mentioned it in pregame he made some mechanical adjustments but he told me specifically he likes to look back to game one of the series at Milwaukee got a couple of blue pits and so often people think all right blue pits he got lucky that's what he needs to turn it around Nick said no that's not what he looks at it as he says in those situations he was able to get his body in the right position to picks up the strike count a 1 two 3 sixth inning Marlin in search of their first hit has been in control today it's without a hit as we enter the seventh inning inside to Oto [Music] no hitter he not going to give in with a fast [Music] ball three balls no strikes I don't seems like he little 3-1 from falter this is hot three nothing game it's not like it's 15 to nothing here Marlins are a one more base runner away do the exact same thing if he forgets about him he has that kind of speed ball and no strikes just out in front of that strike out a line out today for Jake into center field Cruz coming in and he will close on it and get there me of Devon white Devon white used to Glide in the Outfield like that Devon wasn't as can be a little tricky here but the way that he ran in on that I almost thought that ball was still stri man he can he can cover some ground I told you the only play for the Marlins first hit so Jonah bride breaks up the no hitter throw goes to third cook has a decent arm and the plays right in front of you so you know Griffin Benedict is not which is tough to do he doesn't stop he doesn't hesitate and but just a good [Applause] [Music] throw well the general baseball uation there and a little not even really a blooper but more of a softline drive that got down but a base running Mis Q helps to uh accelerate falter getting through that seventh so the Marlins with six outs to play with trying to make up three it's almost like uh in every game in this three game series the Marlins have made one miscue that's kind of made the game sway in one way or the other it's a couple of airs the first day then another air the second day base running today and we've heard skip talk about it last couple of days just not playing clean baseball and when you're going to play these lower scoring games or tight ball games every 90 ft every Out means so much Bride Racing over and he can't get there on the dive great effort great effort by Jonah you thought maybe after uh the Marlins scored 19 runs on Saturday and Sunday against the Phillies that they would come into Pittsburgh and uh their bats would stay hot as we get one more look at Jonah you saw where he started he was playing off the bag about 15 ft that's why he couldn't get there and make that play a nice Series against the Marlins uh dhing today McCutchen uh he did not start but he got a fast ball and he Juiced it he turned all over I thought Sanchez may have had a chance to run it down and but the ball hit off the warning track and bounced up off the wall and by the time paset picks it up Reynold standing on second jackpot for Bailey falter he has been dealing today for the Pirates their best records against National League opponent since 2012 whatever reason they have the Marlins number 46 and 30 since the beginning of 2012 600 baseball against the fish and as it stands now they uh if the score holds and let's hope it doesn't they are looking at a season series seven game sweep here the Marlins can't put some runs on the board but as has been the case in off a lot the Marlins seem to find a way to at least get the tying run to third or to the plate but they just have to figure out falter just one hit against him today it's PAs to start the inning then Stowers and sooha [Music] ball inside a fly to Center and a strike out for paset today he's done a nice job with that cutter SLS slider it doesn't have much depth to it this will be his 48th game this year solid out of that pen for Derek Shelton with 325 ER saw him on Monday night a scoreless inning with a strike out yeah sometimes that is the case when a guy is out there dealing the way that falter has been dealing it doesn't really matter who you bring in out of the bullpen the offense on the other side they just get a different look at a different picture and all of a sudden sometimes the offense kind of perks up sooha who grounded in with double play in the third inning and popped up in sixth is not in there but it will be Xavier Edwards year long I mean that's how he got that batting average all the way up to about 350 360 when he was rolling for a couple of months but 10 days off and that's enough to uh disrupt your swing for [Music] [Music] sure even though Edwards was under the weather yesterday he was not going to start skip told him the night before that he was going to give him a day off and Xavier had been grinding out there and uh manager knows you when his players need a day off and he felt like he needed to give Xavier a day away from it turned out he had a fever yesterday marins at Bull pin a 208 ER against the Marlins this year this a ground ball of the eighth inning still 3 nothing yes you did no I did not come on you didn't want to mess up them pretty blue ever gets old man just to see the the looks on the faces of the owners just just to celebrate like that is just so special so special well they're parad behind the plate such a small list of teams right like you you look at the Braves titles and the Dodgers have had some dominance and you know the Yankees have gone forever to get there you really do I mean it is such a tough GR grind I mean to
