Harrison Burton Shocks The World at Daytona

[Music] hello everybody and welcome in to below the yellow line howdy howdy um Emily go go ahead I'll let I'll let you uh share what happened tonight in this uh I'm not sure if anyone's gonna believe it hon like if you see like a Hollywood script of course I mean Daytona race obviously rates like these guys are like out to get each other and there were just crashes all over the place yeah um flips flips yeah One landed up One landed down One landed down they were both okay everyone's okay so no one got hurt through all of the craziness but in overtime shocking um thought Kyle bus was gonna win he pulled away pulled away had the lead come to the Here Comes Harrison Burton with a big push from in his second Cup start what happened there yeah got a huge run down the back and Bush didn't block like that's the thing why did kylo Block it's your season on the line a winning streak on the line why do you not block and who wins but Harrison Burton in the final lap of the race the guy who's last in points although I will say it was nuts Harrison Burton's win was a lot more likable than Austin Dylan's win and he had so much joy it was such a sweet story his dad in the dad in the television Booth shaded 1993 his mom was there and happy you know big win for him first career win and with like he deserved to win that race before that caution he was the best car and then he wins it in the way he does and he's done that before Harrison Burton look he made some good moves and he was up there by avoiding the crashes exactly he deserved to be up there he had a good race he just held steady and he was able to pull it off in the end so good for him first Cup race win for him and maybe he'll be back next year we'll see we'll see you know no nothing confirmed for him but I wrote for front stretch earlier this week talking about like the anatomy of the underdog win because obviously the underdog win's not expected and it always happens at Daytona Talladega Harris Burton 27th is his best cut points finished that was in his rookie year 2022 last year nothing this year he's gotten worse he was 34th in points coming into this race last of all full-time guys and it's not like he put on a master class I think the last lap was the only lap he led but like you said he was there when it mattered there at the end that's what matters in these races he avoided the crashes he had enough end there were crashes to avoid that's saying something for but yeah props to Burton tonight and he takes up a playoff spot he knocks Bubba out um which is unfortunate thought you were going to see yeah I you know I do think you know he is he a playoff no he does not deserve to race for the championship um but it's not his fault you know hate hate the game not the player it's not not his fault that this is the format we have but he he can chase a championship there are super Speedways in the first two rounds so if he wins Atlanta and he wins tala which he proved tonight he could do he could go to the round of eight and put the 21 car there for the first time since 2017 first win for them for the Wood Brothers they're 100th by the way since 2017 with Ryan blay a Pocono Ask Josh Barry in Chicago what would it feel like for you to get their 100th win next year and you're like we'll have to see Harrison Burton and them got a whole lot of racing left and I didn't say it obviously but I was like that's not gonna happen I think it's gonna be Josh Barry if anyone's going to get it that's going to get it and uh at some curl on that so congratulations Harrison Burton um first cup win let's talk about those crashes because Barry was at the height of one of those let's talk about Barry's first Barry um ended up the victim of a crash and his just as he got hit on the side there kind of and turned he he started flying and he went upside down I thought he was going to go all the way around but he didn't quite make it end up sliding into the inside wall hit it real hard spun numerous times like 15 20 like so many times um AMR safety team got to him right away thankful what are you proud of me safety team I'm surprised you picked up on that thank you I know the AMR safety team you know the I like crashes so um but they got to him right away thankfully it took him maybe a minute to get him turned back over and he was right out of there and giv a thumbs up so thankfully AOK just the end of his night tonight that was good yeah so Barry okay looks like Kyle Busch kind of got into cnri and cnri got into Barry and cnri could have grabbed his win of the year he was fast all three team peny cars really fast they're all caught up in wrecks Joey Lano was a part of the other big wreck with Michael mcdal Justin Haley who was bad fast tonight got into McDow sent him around he flips upside down what did you see on that one Emily because legano and a lot of guys including bubble Wallace was also in uh were involved in that crash yeah I mean that was yet another one thankfully he landed right side up and thankfully didn't goat or really quite close and almost and kind of looked like he did I don't know that announcer said he did it didn't quite look that to me um but yeah that was quite a few races that involved many people what were there like six guys that didn't get involved Ines tonight and there was a few that I just kind of forgot about like the John Hunter Nema Che thing he ran his probably his best race of the year and his I think one of his only top 10 this year uh like one of his two was at Daytona at the 500 um ran a great race tonight and then got shoved by uh Larson he d to clear himself was that on mcdal or Haley he spun off the front of somebody I think it was mcdal yeah um maybe syri I don't know but um there was a lot of yellow cars up at the front tonight um but spun spun himself um there was another big crash um I don't know what lap it was on but that took out Elliott and uh who else Gregson Denny priest Daniel Suarez really quite early on Shane Van G exactly what which lap it was but yes it was lejy too was in that I think Ley kind of started that uh Stenhouse was involved in a crash as well Shane Van giz Bergen's engine just blew up like on lap 76 then you had uh Daniel Suz he finished his last in 40th T night his car caught fire the back end caught fire there was a mishap on Pit Road and his rear end just got fired so that was uh weird unfortunate to out that early yeah you don't know how they would have run and G yeah so we've had our results scrolling here for for quite a while so let's actually uh take those how do I get that Emily would you like to read off here first through 16th sure so we had first place Mr Harrison Burton Follow by Kyle Bush Christopher Bell we Gibbs Wallace RL is that how we say it RL Parker R second start nearly won this race somehow crazy um BR Kowski hrich busher hovar Chastain Smith Brisco name check and Bowman yeah funny top 16 there um really quite strange isn't it quick shout out Zane Smith that's like his seventh top 20 in the last nine races he's been on a tear he uh he won't be he was released from track house yesterday so it's kind of like Burton gets fired basically he won't be back in the 21 car I got he wins zaye Smith is on a tear now he's doesn't have a ride for next year doesn't seem like any way at least nothing confirmed um but yeah hey a lot of bubble guys in this mix today you had Wallace in sixth Chastain 12th um and then uh wait what was I saying busher in 10th yeah um and it doesn't really matter busher is now plus 21 he's the last man in Wallace minus 21 Bubba been on a tear like six top 13s over the last six races five top 10 and it's probably not gonna matter unless he pulls out some heroics at Darlington same thing for Chast stain finishes 12th rebounded from Wreck as did Bubba Chris buer talk about great great race have won races and yeah and if like thing is if if Dylan's win stood and it I mean it still could get you know back re in the playoffs if they win this appeal final appeal this week which I don't think they're going to but if that happens um you'd have I mean we have we'd have 14 winners this year we have 13 that are you know in the playoffs because of those wins and you know Trux he's basically locked in plus 58 Gibbs got to be feeling good plus 39 but it's still interesting um as far as where some of these guys are so Bubba and Chastain they can mathematically Point their way in but probably going to need a win or like a top five run some Misfortune for busher who nearly won Darlington in the spring so probably not feeling too good Eric Jones in 17th syndric drove a great race today but finishes 18th bjam McLoud 19th Joey gase 20th Kyle erson 21st Austin Dylan 22nd the toddfa 23rd Emily I'll give you 25 bucks later that's all we need to say on that uh Trux 24th Austin Hill 25th Josh Barry 26 William Byron couldn't complete the Daytona sweep he ends up 27th points leader Tyler reck retains that points lead 28th Ryan blay 29th Michael mcdal in 30th Joy Lano 31st Justin Haley 32nd Ricky Stenhouse Jr 33rd that's about to say 34th not 24th that's Corey lejoy who is on a bad streak um he as Clint Black would say he's on a good run of bad bad luck SVG in 35th Chase Elliot at 36th Noah greggson 37th Denny Hamlin 38th Ryan priest 39th Daniel Suarez in 40th in last so I think now we have uh with 13 guys locked in we got four guys going for Point spots and we have 16 or 17 that need a win to make the playoffs at Darlington so um Daytona not the regular season finale these guys still have one more shot Kyle Bush and all them that need a win still have one more shot Bubba Chastain Gibbs one more shot I bet we have a repeat winner oh yeah no Darlington breeds repeat winners and stuff like that so congrats to Harrison Burton we'll have you covered from Darlington I'll have you covered tomorrow for the truck play off opener in Milwaukee which kind of forgot that race was happening but it is so tune in there at 400 pm.
