[Music] United States team paralympian Hunter wood Hall and his spouse Tara Davis Woodhall Olympian shared the gold medal at the stad def France in Paris 202 just a few weeks before the state def France had seen the same event but with the roles reversed following his thrilling run in the men's 400 met t62 final American para aete Hunter wood Hall discovered Olympian Tara Davis wood Hall his wife among the audience to join in cheers Hunter was there to support Tara as she won her Olympic gold medal in the long jump in early August since then they have gained notoriety as the golden couple Paris 2024 they spoke with the IPC about their experiences as married gold medalist according to Hunter many individuals have told us that we have created a very unique time in the game we're just so grateful that we get to share the sport that we love so much with so many new people and we're really trying not to read too much into it we hope that people have felt a little bit of the emotions that we felt over the past month at an Idaho track competition the 17-year-old's tale started Tara was living in California at the time while Hunter was in Utah but the two became friends when Tara introduced herself at one of Hunter's Gathering I thought he was really cute when I saw him era chuckled and he was actually running the 400 m when I went up to the track and hugged him telling him that I was not sure why I was doing this but I just had to Hunter remarked I wasn't quite sure where I was because I had just run a 400 but I knew who terara was and I just knew the girl was different there was something special about we were friends for a very long time before she offered me an opportunity to apply to college after we began dating the rest is history at Rio 2016 Hunter made his par Olympic debut taking home silver in the men's 200 meter t44 event and bronze in the 400 meter event about a year before they were married Hunter and Tera participated in the Tokyo Olympics where Hunter won bronze in the 400 meter t62 competition but his goal heading into Paris 2024 was to capture his first paralympic gold medal in the 400 meter t62 final unfaced Fierce opposition from Germany's Johannes floors current wound record holder but Flores and bronze medalist Olivier Hendricks of the Netherlands were behind him as Hunter cross cross the finish line in 46.3 6 Hunter said I've attended the paralympic games three times and this was by far my favorite experience crowds were incredible it was just so unbelievable there was such enormous enthusiasm and this last month in Paris was just magical that was an experience I will never forget on August 8th terara competed in the Olympic women's long jump final against Mala Mambo the reigning champion and saw Fierce opposition from Germany as well in the event at Tokyo 2020 but her fourth leap of 7.1 in meters won her the gold and her first Olympic title Hunter and Tara trained together every day despite the fact that they often train differently for their various Sports they monitor and record each other's workouts and provide encouragement to one another as partners and teammates having a part partner in the same sport is extremely important peris said we're trying to support each other on difficult practice days cuz you understand what they're going through and they understand what you're going through Hunter said we hold each other accountable the other person may motivate you on days when you don't want to exercise or go to the gym it really eases the difficult days the American track and field team is eager to host the World and compete on American soil as the next Olympic and Par Olympic games are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles in 2028 Hunter said I'm so excited to have a game in the United States I've spoken with a lot of former Olympians who have talked about how amazing the games were in Atlanta or Los Angeles we are quite excited to see so many of our loved ones who may not be able to go to another country see us live as well as return to tera's Hometown
