well last night you saw this game here live on NFL Network Chargers and Cowboys starters stars sidelined but plenty of roster spots up for grabs for both of these teams Trey Lance trying to lock down a roster spot there in Dallas and boy showing you some of the wheels look at Lance go 46 to the house well that's one of the things that he brings to the table as a athletic quarterback he has dual playmaking later in the fourth Lance now with four interceptions on the day he just missed this was his fifth Robert Ken did have over 300 yard passing and a touchdown Cowboys lose 26 to9 all right let's continue talking Cowboys with NFL Network Insider Tom pisero uh as the Cowboys begin to get their roster down to 53 ahead of the Tuesday cut down day one big piece of that roster still very much uncertain that the status of cidi lamb where do we stand there Tom all R CD lamb remains a hold out as he has been throughout the course of training camp but I do sense there is some optimism in Dallas that that could be coming to an end time now is of the essence the regular season begins two weeks from today against the Cleveland Browns you're going to need to get cidi lamb out onto the field if he's going to be ready to roll in week one so a critical couple of days here r as the Cowboys and CD lamb try to finally reach an aord last we heard Cowboys owner Jerry Jones talk on the record about CD lamb essentially said it takes two to tango in these contract negotiations so we'll see where that ultimately ends up Tom pel uh there with us thank you very much Tom now look the cowboy no stranger to Stars holding out you might remember EMT Smith back in 1993 Cowboys wi 0 and2 in his absence he comes back they go on to win Super Bowl 28 so we got to do that's remember Ezekiel Elliott held out all of training camp in preseason a couple years back ended up finally signing back on September 4th before week one of the regular season so let's see Troy that's uh it's not uh what is it Troy head takes Expo old takes expose something like that on that one troy they went 0 and2 without EMT and then ultimately ended up winning Super Bowl 28 so there is still hope out there even if CD does Miss a little regular season time uh Baldi what's your what's your take on how this ultimately comes together for this cowboy offense that desperately needs that star power I think everybody in Dallas including the owner knows that they need CD lamb in the lineup and sometimes you know it happens in the 11th Hour sometimes you just got to play the game because honestly the at their offense you have Jake feron at tight end uh you have Brandon Cooks who's a solid receiver but you don't have a game changer CD lamb is a game changer on that offense and without like I would say a vintage or Class zekia Elliot that can Pace You by running the football yeah Dak Prescott needs to have his number one receiver at some point they got to get this deal done feel like we'll see a lot of Ferguson uh getting targeted if especially if lamb is in the building yes he will get Target the one thing about CD though in addition though is that guy gives this team such toughness like there's sometimes wide receivers what they do over the middle of the field that guy is fearless in the middle of the field yeah U no Dak Prescott you knew the topic was coming even though the Cowboys done with their preseason still looking to get paid and it looks even better after you saw what the other quarterbacks on the roster did Trey Lance yeah five interceptions in that preseason game where do talks stand now between Dak and yeah so Trey's interceptions are not mutually exclusive with Prescott's contract I know that's sort of a convenient talking point it certainly maybe adds to his case a little bit hey look guys y'all need me right uh but the situation is talks have been ongoing but they're really every couple days the stage is set for Dallas to place the urgency on CD lamb the wide receiver to get that deal done it's going to cost them well above $30 million per year CD Lamb's trying to get as close as he can to that Justin Jefferson Market of that 35 million a year so they're trying to find a sweet spot on all those points I expect lamb to be done first they're going to try to get Prescott done before week one as well and double down on both these guys and spend a ton of money so it's still unclear whether they can pull this off and look Prescott and you talk to people in and around the situation he's well aware of how well he can do in free agency if he were just let this ride out play well again put up a huge qbr and then be there in March for 60 million a year whatever it's going to cost it's going to cost a lot so I don't think both sides want that they want to try to shake this out with a deal but it's going to take a lot of leg work over the next two weeks if they get it done before week one no question his impact when he is out there I mean he is uh you know Coral so much of their ultimate offensive production uh each and every year there in Dallas well a similar situation perhaps in San Francisco with Brandon iuk he is with the team in Las Vegas for their preseason finale but not on the field Deo Samuel was more like it oh how about that new number yeah dropped the one we're now just one let's take another look at that one fin get was good good defense good job Byers love that Tip Drill there they're kind of chatting about it after the play cie a little frustrated in in a tie how do you have the battle of the bit end in a tie the battle of the B end in F didn't want to fans wanted a win come on uh all right guys so understanding the situations now that the 49ers are dealing with remember it is not just Brandon iuk not on the field Trent Williams is still not there haven't talked about that a whole lot Christian mcaffrey you know still dealing with the calf situation um Baldi what will this 49ers offense look like well look if they're all there it's a stacked roster but if you're minus Trent Williams if you're minus iuk and whatever condition mcaffry comes back in I mean those are three of your biggest stars I think it really starts honestly with Trent Williams getting him back because it's all based on the Run game here everything that they do is off the Run game um it's such a big part of what they do uh mcaffry leads the league in rushing by wide margin last year Trent Williams basically every run comes behind him at some point and he's such a Difference Maker but in pecking order like you got to get Trent they Trent saw pan su he saw Christian darol he saw all these guys get paid trench's the best he's maybe the best football player in the league he's certainly the best offensive lineman in this league and he just wants to you know be rewarded and compensated for that well here here here's a bigger theme when it comes to trim Williams wanting his money Brandon auk wants his money Chris mcaffrey got his money and there are others that want to get paid Pat Riley used to say this when he was coaching it's the disease of me when you have a lot of success everyone feels like they played a bigger part in the making it happen and so now they want to be compensated and we begin to lose focus on what allowed this team to get to the Super Bowl and so as the clock is ticking and we're getting close to the regular season not having those guys there to me is problematic because this team is certainly talented enough to make another run at a Super Bowl but I just worry about all of the individual agendas taken away from the collective focus on wi Super Bowl hangover Bucky are is that what you're saying yeah Super Bowl hangover like we have an issue but they didn't they didn't win it they got to it though it happens all the time the team that doesn't win it they have a tough time getting back that's right well look they got an extra day to figure it out right they don't play till Monday that's right right September 9th as they host the New York Jets but what those team that team looks like on that Monday still very much uncertain at this point uh okay we are getting you ready for Saints and important sighting for the first time this preseason R still no new contract done for Jamar Chase but for the first time since training camp began I am told Jamar Chase did participate in practice today that is a big step because the season opener against the Patriots is two weeks away time is getting short for Jamar Chase to be ready to Ru the situation fluid again because Jamar Chase still wants a contract extension but his presence today was definitely notable my understanding is he has done some things in walkthroughs a little bit individual on the side but in terms of actually putting on the helmet this was a first they got lighter practices these next couple of days they got a heavier practice on Wednesday will continue to keep tabs on this but Jamar Chase back on the
