got three games we got to get into yes then we're going to tell you what the role of the 12 games were and what to bet on and then actually Don snuck a little segment in there for us tonight too before we get into the ECG game of the week which is North Dakota State versus Colorado Don's got a little thing called the stats Guru corner where he's going to give us interesting stat go about our offseason now I got to re re rekindle everything for the End season and uh we're going to go ahead and and move forward with this man first topic of the day though as you guys know I'm a Florida State fan oh my God but we did call this by saying that Georgia Tech could win this game they could win this game right whoa whoa whoa whoa my my God are you okay what is happening man I'm trying to just mess with the lighting because I look deep fried kind of oh don't even worry about it I've got two of the like PVC not PVC the like LED School lights over here I gotta like I gotta get an entire I I feel like all washed out I'm like side of my head is so blinded it looked like I was bald I was like I got to throw a hat on until at least we get at least until I get a new light n man everything is all good you guys look fantastic but anyway of me Florida State and Georgia Tech played in Dublin Ireland for pretty much to kickoff game for this week Georgia Tech ended up coming in there kicking a late game Phil gold to win them the game 24-21 of KH former boy Hanes King got him a win yes now was this a lot of people would call this an upset I don't think this is necessarily upset because we did discussed this all last week at nauseum on how this could have possibly been a game to not only remember but a game that shouldn't have been surprising to anybody in the country that this could have happened Bellas when we watched this game what was your initial reactions to not only the FI goal but the the game is in in its entirety because I got a lot to say but I mean I guess I guess for me like almost saw it coming I mean you you can look back at the the video that we did where we did the game predictions and man I can I can even open up my notes from that episode right now and you will find that I said that I thought Flor state would win in a close one right so I was wrong there but I talked about how it would not surprise me if Georgia Tech either kept it really really close or even won because of their running game right that's they they they were dominant and like last year they were dominant again to open this year um and Georgia Tech I think they proved a lot of people wrong who didn't give Georgia Tech the respect they deserved right for some people this was like whoa Georgia Tech but when you look at the numbers if you watched them last season you knew that this was a real possibility so yes I mean it it pro it proved us right who who thought that you know highly of Georgia Tech and that thought that Georgia Tech is a team who is very very competitive I know that you know Sora and I talked about their uh their record against ranked teams last year and even though the year before that as well and you know Brent Key's done a great job at getting this program on the right track and it was a signature win that they had out in Ireland and uh yep yeah I mean they they didn't shock us you know I know we picked Florida State to win but this game wasn't a shocker like it was for many people across the country yeah you could pick a game having a little bit of a not a bias but a little bit more of a feeling that another team's going to win not only it's hard not to base the history of a team off of anything even though we don't like to look at that we like to look at it as a yearby year but it's kind of hard to avoid guys like Mike norell and what he's done at Florida State and then to say that you know Georgia Tech under a second-year head coach and Britt key just coming off of you know the season that they had that Florida State couldn't rebound they've been rebounding with a bunch of transfers and everything I mean by all regards some of the best transfers that we had over the last couple years was Johnny Wilson from Arizona State and Keon Coleman from Michigan State and you see how well that they did and and all the way from Albany our guy our guy Jared verse who nobody counted in until he came to Florida State and did what he did but Sor how how' you feel and then we'll get to the breakdown of each team well I mean so again kind of like with what K said this was something that we thought was going to be close my final score actually and I even said it on last week's show was 24-21 I just had Florida State because I thought they were going to be the ones to kick the game-winning field goal um I mean pretty I've got it for this week which we'll break down you know in a few but for these notes it was mainly just the Run game I know last week we talked about Jamal Haynes thousand yard rusher for Georgia Tech um talked about Haynes King who had like 732 rushing yards on the ground as well uh Brenton key being a you know offensive former offensive lineman you knew that the offensive line was going to be moving bodies all over the place and that's exactly what they did this week yep well I mean yeah pretty much the only other thing is just Florida we also just talked about how Florida State lost a lot of guys built on the offensive and defensive side of the ball whether it be the transfer portal or they got drafted this is very true and it's uh it's nasty work but let's go ahead and and break down the first first team and I know you guys have been patiently waiting to hear me absolutely demolish my own team um first of all a couple things that I want to say in regards to the Florida State fans is we owe kurk uh Kirk herb Street not me but the rest of y'all y'all especially the lady with the sign on college game day you know exactly which sign I'm talking about yeah you know y'all owe this man a a sincere apology for for the foolishness that we've done during the offseason hyping this team up more than what we were supposed to Hype them up for do we need to go through the the the guys that either you know transferred out or graduated or most importantly got drafted this this this past off season shall we go through the list young men yes Jordan Travis Jared verse Braden FIS both of our cornerbacks you can throw Jamie Robinson in Jamie from two years ago Jamie Johnny Wilson Jim Bell shout out to him for making the 53 man roster today um Keon Coleman and Jordan Travis who accounted for so much of our offense last year now let's get into the juicy stuff Alex Atkins was suspended our offensive coordinator was suspended three games before this even started for n violation that happened in 2022 with this event that happened at blasy blasy blah whatever he wasn't there he was a big part of why this loss had happened because I don't know how well him and Mike prepared for might to go over and and take care of the play calling not sure what happened there but we surely didn't miss Alex Atkins being in this offense let's start with the one thing that I noticed off the git all of us collectively said why didn't Florida State keep running the ball with the guys that were built to run the ball in the certain directions that they were supposed to run it in Royale Williams was an absolute tank at the beginning of this game but we decide to flip to Lawrence TOA Philly halfway through the game and make him run the ball up the middle which he's like the smallest running back on his Squad why like 5'9 I will say that royell Williams did surprise me because as you guys know I did not have a lot of faith in royell Williams being the trans was going to mesh well in the running back room that stack with Kazi Holmes and you know all the boys jayen Lucas and all those guys I will say somebody that did surprise me and I wanted to see him get more carries Two Carries for 13 yards but when we saw him run the ball Jaylen Lucas from or Indiana transfer looked absolutely electric and it was fun watching him and I don't know why he didn't get more touches why didn't we utilize Lawrence to Philly on more tosses on the outside or outside runs with royell Williams was blocking that 28 yard run in the first quarter had us all jumping for joy especially me and I almost R by my damn computer chair watching that I was so happy for him but I will say if there was any positive is that Florida state did utilize Lawrence to Philly and a in a in in a variety of ways which I like to see because I think as a fifth year guy a guy that's a do it all player and the way that he showed us how electric he was at especially towards the end of last year uh really said a lot about you know his playing ability and I think he's going to be one of those sneaky players at the next level not not just because I'm a fan of him I think with the the way that football is played in the NFL that Lawrence still feel it would be a great two-way guy now dju was not as bad as what people were saying people are absolutely crapping on him to say the least and I if Alex Atkins was in the game I believe this would have been different he did what he was asked to do I understand that some throws were off kilter but there was several drops and the receivers are not on the same page you know what this reminded me of last year when Penn State played Michigan oh oh yeah Michigan and and the receivers are just not on the same page with Drew Aller and everybody crapped on Drew Aller this is almost The Identical situation K Tron porier not being involved in the game until late only having one reception that was electric why was he not involved more I thought he would I said this before you guys heard me say kier's name several times before this game even started and he was not utilized o line looks worse in year two year one we look good I'm going say year one as in last year this this second year with those guys they looked atrocious in the second half and let's not even get started with the defense defense looked atrocious up front Patrick pton is not as hyped up as what people were telling us that he was going to be saying that he was the next coming of Jared verse the dude only had one tackle and he took the inside of of all these schemes and all these Zone runs even outside runs he was taking the inside and just not he just looked like he was not in the in the game at all Marvin Jones junr second half of his game was excellent first half was like Joshua farmer was caught out of position the whole game as well and he's been with us for three years I don't know what's going on so I don't know by all regards Florida State fans as a fan this team DJ Lundy you'll hear his name later yeah but DJ Lundy I think he had an all right game to I'm not going to crap all on his parade but he was he was he was all right especially in the second half but we got absolutely demolished once Georgia Tech came out in the second half and they started running the ball as well as they were passing the ball and just finding finding holes in our Zone it was over from there they let H King rip it a little bit he felt a little bit more comfortable and as soon as he got comfortable you saw that offense start rolling let's not even talk about Jamal Haynes man the kid is special the kid is special but this is about Florida State we'll get into Georgia Tech next buted s what what did you think about Florida State as a whole because we you look absolutely look terrible well I mean again it's kind of like you mentioned uh Alex Atkins was suspended for three games so they've got two more games to go which is so it's not going to be the exact same you're not going to see this Florida State team that you saw week zero All Season unfortunately um but Norvell and for the next two games acting offensive coordinator Gabe farida who is y'all's offensive Al uh an analyst can't speak um it just it was not pretty again they went away from the Run game so well every play that opening drive minus the first one was a run play that went for at least five plus yards um and even the first play you had royell Williams and Lawrence to Philly next to dju they both run into the flat passes it to Williams is a 24 yard catch and run and then they run the ball and eventually get the ends on the opening play and then after that the running was pretty much done FSU ran for a total of 90 yards and just most of that was in the opening drive uh I pretty much like you said I think the dju hate is a bit too much especially when in the fourth quarter on their final drive dju threw a pass for 10 plus yards to convert fourth down both times and eventually got y'all in the end zone um I'll be right defense that defensive line okay that defensive line just needs a lot of work I mean you saw it especially in the second half Haynes King you know not not much of Runner didn't have to do much in the P game but the dude had 54 yards and hannes King pretty much most of the time just bounc it out to the outside because the edges could not set yeah and you know again also for the defense they didn't get a single sack they didn't get any turnovers both times that hannes uh that Georgia sack F with the ball it wasn't because of anything the defense did one was a bad snap and the other one was just Haynes King accidentally mishandled the football but Georgia Tech still recovered both times so that one is you got to just work on the fumbling practice you got to work on fumbling and practice and I'm I'm trying I just see dju slowly creeping out of the corner of my eye y'all still don't believe I believe it also just doesn't help that Florida state was I believe it was like five for 12 on third down it was less than 50% on First on first down on third down so yeah it was bad that's something else that just has to be worked on for yeah Florida State's going to be missing Alex Atkins for the next two games KY what you think man you think that we're going to adjust to this horrible situation and I know what's his name Mar nll was talking about that the the play clock itself was hard to hard to manage because now it's all brand new and things like that but what' you think of your performance what what was the biggest weakness of this team to you the biggest weakness I think was I mean I know this I mean I'm about to expand on it but like it was it was everything it was so because it was so vanilla it was so vanilla on defense I didn't I didn't see any exotic blitzes I know that it's not the NFL and the blitz packages they have but I didn't see Florida State's defense change much up I saw a lot of um undisciplined you know defensive lineman you know cut like taking ing inside leaving you know no one out there on the edge for outside contain um on offense very vanilla very very like basic concepts basic reads and DJ was asked to do very basic things when that was his problem at Clemson his last two years was he was still being asked to do basic things after Trevor Lawrence left we saw what he did when he was asked to step up to the plate and run the same offense as Trevor Lawrence against Notre Damon his first career start and he dropped 40 in South Bend and nearly won them the game like he has incredible arm Talent still we just never see it because he's asked to do vanilla things and I think that was the problem was it came down to to scheme right the X's and O's for Florida State on defense they just couldn't do much right you know they kind of shorted it up a little bit in the second and third quarters before unraveling again in the fourth but overall I think it was just a lack of adjustments and poor game plan going in I know that you know not having an offensive coordinator will obviously hurt but I mean you even as a coach it's a next man up mentality you have the next guy up has to be ready that's not just something you can tell your players and expect them to do without doing it yourself especially if the next guy up is your offensive analysis his job is to look at these guys and look at their strengths exactly know better than anyone like and and norell talking about the the clock management I understand it's different but you've had months an entire summer you don't get a pass Mike yeah like it's it's not like it's not like Bren key didn't have to didn't have to deal with the new clock management he did he had a whole off season two to adjust to you know to practice things these things in practice the timeouts right the two-minute warning like all all of that it's not like it's everything was new for Florida State same thing with the jet lag I know some people online complained about jet lag and it's like George Jack had a deal with it too so I don't want to hear nothing apparently according to sources Georgia Tech actually crossed the Delaware like George Washington and the game did back in Ye Old ye old days all right so they didn't have to experience the plane I don't want to hear nothing about the Jack the jet lag because the way that Delaware State played Hawaii was actually commendable cuz yeah it was they could have got absolutely crushed and they be what wasn't it on like a three-point game it was supposed to be like a four fivepoint game they were supposed to absolutely go in there and the odds were against them from the charter bus thing happening to their flights they you know they D were jet lag Delaware State's quarterback came out and played lights out that first half yes yeah I shout out follow Twitter by the way I was about say he follows him I I again I I think comes down to poor coaching and and scheme it just it seemed like they had a very basic plan and thought they could out go out there running basic plays on both sides of the ball not really changing things up and thought that they could get out of get out of Dublin with a win Georgia was not going to let that happen and I think that they got out coached and in terms of jimmies and Joe's Georgia Tech absolutely outplayed Florida State so I think on all levels of of the game Georgia Tech clearly was the better side against Florida State and one thing is also which I saw earlier uh since 2022 Florida State's record win loss 20 to1 versus unranked versus ranked they're three and four they're three and four uh there is a statistical drop off versus unranked and ranked 38 points per game versus only 24 for the rank uh opponents unranked scored only like 17.3 opponents ranked scored 28.1 going back to Mike norell Florida State under Mike norell is two- n without Jordan Travis as a starter and is 29 and N with Jordan Travis as a starter you're hoping as a Florida State fan that the without Jordan Travis number goes way up since he's now in the draft or now in the draft since he's now in the NFL it's just it's gonna be interesting you gotta hope that Alex Atkins can pull it together I'm enjoying this this is great I know I know my team's bad but I also enjoy watching other people suffer with me yeah I mean this is not I think the most frustrating thing about this is like just how we didn't stick with what worked I mean I think a lot of people could take a lesson from and I hate to say this but a lot of people could take a lesson from the Michigan team of last year and how they dealt with Penn State they didn't have to throw it they threw it eight times and the boys just ran all the way down their throats the whole game why couldn't we do the same thing and why are we utilizing our weapons that are not built to do certain things like to Philly run up the middle of the field when he obviously I want to say if you had to give a game ball to to anybody it probably would have been him to be completely honest CU he also like moved moved in slot all that so he moved around everywhere he became y's Gadget player a lot of people would say jakai Douglas is that would would have been the guy but I'm talking about a guy that literally did what he did the whole freaking game he tried to keep us in he tried to deal with the the cards that were dealt but real quick with Georgia Tech though you know I heard a lot of FSC fans saying that Georgia Tech is a bad team we lost to a bad team and I absolutely started turning those podcasts off after a while and actually unsubscribed to a lot of them because it's like I I hate when my fan base just drinks the Kool-Aid of like thinking that we're better than we are how can you say that after we lost so much if you want to say the same thing so here's the thing they want to say the same thing about somebody's team like Colorado who brought in 40 something transfers in a transfer portal and then just think that when we bring everybody in from the transer port that we're all just going to make mesh well together keep the same energy especially when you make your arguments and notice that Georgia Tech almost brought back everybody on that team and has Haynes King who's no joke and had Jamal Haynes who we didn't have a thousand yard rusher last year they did and his name is Jamal Hans um and the one kid at white out why am I why am I drawing a blank on his name with the dreadlocks like hold up uh Singleton yeah ER sing J and we said to Eric Singleton if you let him lose if they were going to he probably would have had 100 yards in the first half they didn't get him involved to the second half of the game like yeah 10 yard rushing and 66 yards receiving that was it you how much a problem he was in the second half of that game so don't even sit here and act like they have absolutely no weapons on that team and their defense their front seven again when we ran the ball against them in the first half the thing about us is we couldn't we were just so powerful it's not like they couldn't tackle we were just opposing our will versus us on defense who couldn't tackle a wet paper bag running at one mile per hour like it was it was absolutely nasty work but when we look at Georgia Tech they got their act together and they got it together quickly that number 44 to do with the neck roll he was he was everywhere on the field he wasn't allowing none of that to happen no more after that first drive and then their D their DBS played like they had a chip on their shoulder the whole game regardless of the penalties regardless how many penalties that there were especially on their on their DBS they acted like they wanted to play a rough and tough you got to beat us down the field type of game I don't know what y'all think about Georgia te gentlemen because like I I know real quick Brent key is that dude I love the fact that he he he seems like a coach regardless of the the jobs that come at him he's probably going to stay Georgia Tech for a long time I don't think he's gonna um I mean pretty much to quote Brett key in his postgame interview run the fraking ball and that's exactly what Georgia Tech did as a unit Georgia Tech rushed for 190 yards every touchdown that Georgia Tech had all three of them were all rushing touchdowns you had two budal Haynes and then you had the one-yard quarterback draw by um uh Zack pyron rushing stats were as follow Jamal Haynes 11 carries 75 yards and two touchdowns Haynes King had 15 rushes some of them including actually no never mind Florida State didn't have any sacks uh so 54 yards and then backup running back Chad Alexander that dude came in for one drive and that was all they needed to see cuz Florida State couldn't stop him he came in for more than one drive but it it basically felt like one drive but he had seven rushes for 41 yards then Malik Rutherford and Eric Singleton both of them had a Jet Sweep and both of them went for 10 yards again as I mentioned with Florida State all Haynes King really had to do was just run to the outside because Florida State couldn't set the edge and it was the same thing with Jamal Haynes Jamal Haynes also not afraid of the smoke he will absolutely run somebody over and as Dante talked about the wet paper bag defense Florida State couldn't tackle him it was incredibly they couldn't even recover the two fumbles I mentioned earlier and one of the Florida State defensive lineman literally flopped on it and the ball just popped back out give us your closing remarks K go ahead and send us out look Georgia Tech played an incredible game with that run game that Sora just laid out for us and if you didn't see it coming then you didn't watch Georgia Tech at all or you didn't even just look at their numbers from last year I'm more so impressed with Georgia Tech's defense though because we talked a lot about their running game and what they would be able to do but it was the defense that for me was my concern and why I thought that Florida state would get the edge was Georgia Tech had a terrible run defense last year and so I saw Lawrence chili and royell Williams having a hey day right yeah and it looks like that that was going to be the case for the first few minutes Florida State got away from the run right they got away from what worked but also like while we can put some blame on Florida State for that let's also give Georgia Tech some credit for adjusting after those first few drives and shutting down that offense for the most part I'm I'm really impressed with Georgia Tech overall but that defense if it can improve on what they did last year and actually be adequate this team is going to win a lot ball games and AC maybe I mean look and and going off one more thing with Brent key I mean we talked about he how he got this five-star offensive lineman to commit right he has his program going in the right direction he has a marquee win all of the sudden right Georgia Tech also just got a four-star defensive lineman to commit who had earlier decommitted from Georgia so he hails from the state of Georgia if Georgia Tech can get a lot of wins on the recruiting Trail Brent key could have this program trending in the direction of being a playoff Contender and he could save the ACC as a conference if Georgia Tech can emerge as a playoff Contender what a what a story that would be Netflix documentaries all over the place man if that if that would happened we said three teams GE we said Virginia Tech NC State and Miami now you got to throw Georgia Tech in there yep oh oh that's okay never mind those are the four teams that need to step up yes to keep this conference up because I'm not trusting at this point yeah no if you asked me before that week zero game absolutely no not so sure yeah I don't think they're upset in Florida State either so no and I thought I man we talked about it to like a that October that October 10th game um Florida State versus or not October 10 but that g Florida sa versus SMU game that could decide how SMU season well unless unless SMU comes out and they just go absolutely crazy and and builds Faith back in them I don't know man like they're going to need to be convinc head coach is going to have to after that game the belt was definitely brought out you had you had players throwing throwing uh throwing hands throwing saliva was crazy uh but no even going back to like what K and this is the last thing we'll mention even going back to what K said with um with Brenton key rebuilding Georgia Tech he mentioned at the gas barill Bowl as well like all their grades got up and it's not you know it's not easy to get into Georgia Tech I mean that's a technical college right there not it's not so not only can you let's just hypothetically say this and you got to think of it as well with the versus you know going like ah we're just exactly you got to think of this as as a young you know 17 16 year old kid working on recruitment rent key currently Five-0 they show the graphic at the end they're five and0 uh when ranked as double digit underdogs so you know Georgia Tech is turning Brent key is turning the football program part of it around he's also making sure that the kids are getting their grades up as this was the highest grading average he mentioned in the gas Barilla Bowl last year it was the high is grading average amongst all of the players so you're looking at I'm going to a good football school in a good program who is known for beating ranked teams as you can clearly see well now it's gone um the timing but you're also getting you know your good education for when one if you just don't make the one if you don't make the NFL and two life after the NFL it's kind of like with what you know Nick Sabin was doing before because Nick Sabin would stay and develop you you might not play until your last season but he would stay and develop you he would make sure that you would get an education for life outside of scho uh life outside of football and that's currently what brenon ke is also working on I'm not saying he's gonna be the next Nick Sabin but that stuff matters ab and just again another thing that KY talked about with you know give props of Georgia Tech for adjusting if we as fans can look up on Google and see that Georgia Tech ranked first in rushing but dead last in run defense I I'm telling you right now Florida state would have had a lot more than 90 total yards through four quarters if I were coaching because I would just tell them run the ball the entire time TOA Philly go to the outside you're tired bet royell Williams get in there you're tired bet we'll switch it up if we could get this information there's no way that these coaches didn't know that Georgia Tech ranked dead last in the ACC in rushing in in in the rushing attack I want to show y'all a personal message that I got from a guy that knows me and Don this is what happened to my DMs how can we say that he sucked at OSU though like besides olly Gordon who do who does OSU have not Oregon disclose who this is but he's a jaguars fan also and let me tell you after all that time that I've been saying Trevor Lawrence is not all that great he's like give him time give him time damn you at best the run defense allowed over five yards per carry to Jamal Haynes Chad Alexander and Haynes King pathetic pathetic performance Dante ripped into him s ripped into him it's my turn the coaching staff has given no one any reason to believe that they can coach this offense to become Elite in any capacity it does not matter they look so vanilla and blands that I am not convinced that they can be elite in any category rushing efficiency passing I don't care they failed to adapt at halftime quite the opposite actually as after a good first half they got away from what worked and struggled the play calling was not winning play calling at all there was not enough intermediate game in the passing game and a receiver needs to step up for dju the remaining schedule Boston College who we'll talk about a little bit later Memphis Cal at SMU Clemson at Duke at Miami UNCC at Notre Dame Charleston Southern and Florida I think they win six games tops next overreaction SMU will only win two conference games in 2024 how much of an overreaction is this after they barely scraped by no well originally I had SMU losing two games all season now I have them only winning two conference games this year they barely got by a Nevada team who has a new head coach who has never been a head coach at the at the FBS level before and Jeff choke and they were bad last year they threw more interceptions than passing touchdowns as a team there should be no reason that this Nevada team kept it close with SMU and led for most of the game as well I mean SMU works the portal really well and just move up to the ACC so I don't know what to expect from a team that's moving into a power four conference after they laid that stinker against Nevada of all teams you don't expect these kinds of struggles for a team in a new conference until uh conference play usually but I guess smu's ahead of schedule after losing their bowl game in 2023 to New acco Boston College the ponies aren't carrying much momentum into a tougher conference late than they're accustomed to like I said I had them losing a grand total of two games beforehand now I wouldn't be surprised if that total is closer to seven or eight losses maybe Nevada turns out to be a solid team I don't know but that performance really worries me because teams like Florida State Louisville Stanford Duke pit Boston College and even Virginia are no Nevada they are all a better team than that wolf pack side and if SMU plays anything like they did last week they are in a boatload of trouble this season and are going to make us look pretty silly for how high we were on them earlier in the year and the last overreaction pertains to a certain Wolfpack quarterback Brandon Lewis who will leverage his 2024 campaign into a starting job at a power for school Lewis started his career in Boulder Colorado I witnessed his first career snaps in San Antonio Texas in the Alamo Bowl against the Longhorns but after the arrival of Coach Sanders and his son shadur Lewis transferred to Nevada a pure dual threat quarterback he struggled though last year um he threw two touchdowns and four interceptions to go with 1300 yards in the air and nearly 500 on the ground while in a time share as the starter but in one game against this SMU team he already matched his two passing touchdown total from a year ago and added 77 yards on the ground and led the wolf pack in both rushing and passing he kept this team in the game and had them in the lead for most of it and with experience as a power Force Starter already a successful year in Reno could put Lewis back on the radar of some bigger schools should he decide to enter the portal that's all the overreactions from week Zero from only a few games but check back next week for more plus 550 to plus 700 and odds Carson Beck uh going from 750 well 650 to 900 then you have Quinn ERS 1600 to 900 or 750 is his lowest and then jayen merro this is with all the sports books across the across the board is anywhere from plus 1,000 to plus 1400 so the only one that's the runner up to them right now putting some respect on his name is Will Howard at Ohio State and then cam Ward and train for Old Miss is dying down a little bit now that they're starting to understand that that teams that don't have a ton of transfers are meshing better than teams that do have a lot of transfers I year let's see how that pans out and then Carson Beck to be honest out of all the quarterbacks is the quarterback's quarterback here like can make every single throw but can he do it his only thing is consistency kind of like with Quinn downfield ball can Carson bet be consistent all over the field at all at any given time you're not going to have the running backs he had there at Georgia year running backs you're not gonna have Brock bers you're not gonna have the defense you're not gonna have lad makoni Rosemary s St Jack whatever Marcus uh Rose rosem me Jack yeah that the guy with three names yeah so I mean how how do y'all feel about this for I think this is a solid for to start out they all have a little bit of deficiencies even though we didn't talk about Dylan Gabriels a lot of course Dylan's is all is he has he is lacking in one thing that the rest of these guys have size yeah yeah I mean that is it that is true um I wouldn't be surprised if these are the four guys who end up in in New York I mean these are probably the I I know that obviously these are the for betting favorites but I mean I think this is probably the most likely group based off of what we know now I mean Dylan Gabriel is we know he's very talented and he's in a system that produces with quarterbacks who can do the things he does and I think that he can do the things that b Nick did and you know while he doesn't have the same size right he can make some of those same a lot of those same throws so they kind of see that you know when the right player when the right Talent right matches with the system that equals production that's what you have in Dylan Gabriel you have a great system a phenomenal player who who fits what the system needs and he's gonna produce yeah and then Wast it what's up man milro I think is really intriguing option here just because of the the dynamicism that he that he brings that the other guys don't have no one like no other quarterback in the country can can you know outrun other players like milro can I mean he's just he's he's a monster like he's huge and he also has you know he's he's got underrated deep accuracy so Milow is definitely the wild card here especially with kin dbor in town so facts I I like his upside here and you know if I had to put two if I had to picked two of these guys who are most likely to win it out of these four especially I would say it would be Gabriel and milro but I think this is a a group of four really talented players who will all probably be in in New York when all of a sudden done let me ask you a question across the board here first question up if you had to switch one of these guys out for another player that you think can get in based off of the situation based off the talent who would you like to see replace one of these four Oly Gordon and I would replace Carson Beck I I I I'm not I'm not a Carson Beck Fanboy and I think that you know from watching the games last year it was a lot of Brock Bowers bailing Beck out that was alation was some good alliteration there but like what does Beck do without without Brock what like what does he do is he you know kind of like is he that guy guy I think that Beck is a good quarterback I don't think he's a Heisman quarterback I think that olly Gordon being the best running back in the country and somehow hasn't been suspended to game for his offseason troubles which we've touched on a lot you and I Dante I think that Oli Gordon is a prime candidate to end up in New York and I would replace Carson Beck with with Gordon so I asked you the lot for the Heisman this is why I try to tell people that don't watch college football or haven't watched well why did why was he in the Heisman even though this person had better stats outside of nire and Jackson Dart and we already name the other ones look the only knock on wigman right now is that he's played he's had he has eight career starts to his name and he's going into his third year as a player he's got the last four starts of his freshman camp campaign and got three and a half games in last year before he got hurt he's got impeccable deep ball placement and he has wheels lowkey now you add in Colin Klein and that offense from Kansas State he's not as good of a runner with not as great like running size as will Howard but he's far more developed as a passer I know that he he he's just not as much of a a house hold name across the country because he hasn't played enough games yep I mean availability is the best ability if if wigman can stay healthy it's odd to say that even though he's only had one injury in his career but like if he's out there for a full season this year even with and with better passing weapons passing options than will Howard had at Kansas State because again Kansas Kansas state had better running backs but with better wide receivers and I mean we'll see what we have in Donovan Green at tight end Texas A&M Connor wigman if you you know again you have to win a lot of games to be in this conversation let's just be realistic but wigman could if wigman puts up the numbers the wins will come and I think he's I think he's a dark force for this and Jimbo right like am I am I forgetting anyone like I mean that's that's something that that holds some weight unfortunately it did in College Station some people didn't want to fire him because oh he's won a Natty well that was way back when when college football looked completely different back when the I formation was still a viable method of gaining yards consistently you but it's it's it's not anymore right offenses have changed the game has changed there's a transfer portal right there's nil maybe Jimbo's just taking this time to readjust get used to some of these things as he um maybe man is like Jimbo Fisher is a national championship coach Jimbo Fisher constantly put out great defensive players in the NFL regardless of what former players I want to say like you play for him he helped develop you it is what it is he's a great recruiter like you said uh KH he constantly puts out good quarterbacks I don't care what anybody says the SLO quarterbacks that he put out in the NFL you can add Kell M to that because he did play Max Johnson and Conor wigman are starters for both of their perspective teams like he had a little and Hayes King exactly there's three right there off the rip so you can't tell me that this dude is a terrible coach because of the way that things happen and when you go down you go down as a unit like it just is what it is and it starts with the head coach first and then it trickles down from there the thing about Jimbo Fisher relaxing not forcing his way back into college football chilling out the one thing that Jimbo didn't want to do was adapt to the way that the game is being played today M you saw it at Texas A&M and you definitely saw it at Florida State the year that we won the National Championship is the year that we were so stack with talent that we just forced the ball down your throat we had two good running backs a slew of great wide receivers a Heisman winning the the best freshman quarterback of all time that we've ever seen because he won a national championship in the Heisman nobody can compete with that you know jamus Winson was the best freshman quarterback we've ever seen play and a stack defense every single year that he was there now you let this guy he he sat back he relaxed he didn't force his way back into college football and what's going to happen in my opinion and this is the only way that he can be successful again is to take The Road Less Traveled go to a Max school try your hand at like a Kent State rebuild their program do do what Bronco menen Hall is doing right now with with New Mexico rebuild a team that has been historically bad or at least get them to a bowl game and then work your way back up try your hand his recruiting prowess when I don't know if you guys have ever heard Jimbo Fisher well of course you did K but like he can get you fired up like he gets you very convinced that you can go out there and run through a brick wall yeah and it it's handled exactly that way and recruiting as well so when he says don't count him not you know he's not counting on to return to college football I think was the was a right thing to say he he didn't really give a straight answer you know he just alluded to like yeah I mean when you're away from it for this long and you get that itch again you want to scratch it and of course all of us do as as a former player you don't think like I think I could go out there and just run through people yet until like the first couple of snaps and then my my ass is dog tired and ready to go and be like yeah I ain't built for this no more but all of us feel like we can do things that we probably are not able to do right um but at the end of the day I don't I don't mind his approaching back to this he's not being forceful about it and it seems like he's going to come back a little bit more humble knowing that the two situations that you just left where the Florida state thing people were frowning upon you there and then Willie tagger kind of you know took that pressure off of you you get somewhere new like Texas A&M complaining about that you know you wanted better facilities in Florida State and then you had it had a couple top recruiting classes and then those kids end up all transferring out and the whole debacle at Texas A&M happened I get it man but those are things that you could put your feather in your cap with a smaller school look I'm going to be able to come here we're going to be able to recruit well and I'm going to be able to steal players that we probably shouldn't steal and I'm going to be able to put together a great coaching staff just game plan better you got to get with the times man the the old even Nick Sabin he had to adjust to the times that's why he brought in so many different coordinators the L Keens of the world and the bill O'Brian those guys brought different schemes and he just worried about the defense cuz Nick Sav is a defensive guy Jimbo you got to get back to playing you know really hard-nosed football and getting a creative offensive coordinator in there maybe you know hopefully this doesn't happen but the Kenny Dillingham of the world if something happens to him at Arizona State that would be a great pickup for him to go to like somewhere like Kent State pick up Kenny Dillingham who's or or or will well will I think willstein is going to get a head coaching job after the season if they do well but you know those type of guys bring them in to run that spread offense the you know the RPO schemes and all that and get you some athletic quarterbacks like you used to getting and and and help A team out that's that's where I see Jimbo Fischer's career going and maybe he could find his way back in a you know if Eli Drinker Wiz or something decides to get a better job somewhere then come to like a Missouri and make them a Powerhouse or you know I don't think the Jonathan Smith experiment is going to work well up there in Michigan State maybe that's a place that you go you'll be in a hot bed of you know the Michigan and Ohio of the world if you go to a Kent State you already have that pipeline so I that's where I see him at man I don't know if I'm very off-kilter by thinking that but I think that that's the the best path for him at this point no I I agree and and I I'll just add one more quick thing I mean you look at um a guy like Tom Herman who after he was fired by Texas he spent I believe a year as an offensive analyst with the Chicago Bears then took another year off from football and is now the head coach at Florida Atlantic right it was you know a fall from Gray sure because he went from Houston getting a a five the first five-star recruit to ever commit to a group of five School in Ed Oliver at Neil Brown I think Neil Brown if if Neil Brown ends up beating pit State they have a good season and they go to a big 12 championship and winning that you don't think bigger teams are going to be news not for anything good again the situation so the Colorado athletics department has informed The Denver Post that head coach Dion Sanders and anyone else within the Buffalo football program will no longer take questions from columnist Shawn Keeler Colorado's reasoning was because Colorado officials cited a quote series of sustained personal attacks in Killers coverage of the football program as the reason for the freeze out from The Denver Post quote when asked for specific examples of how Keeler personally attacks Sanders and the program a sports information Staff first cited his use of frag just such as false profit deposition Dion Planet Prime and probably my favorite one Bruce Lee of [ __ ] the Dion Kool-Aid and circus so after all this happened Paul fine bomb on his show has a little something something to say to Dion Sanders quote coach Prime is showing he is not ready for prime time I find this whole thing to be disgraceful Dion may want to talk about the love and joy that's been the Cornerstone of what he seems to be spewing out but treating reporters like this seems like we're in some autocratic country this is not America and the fact that it's in his contract these reporters are saying every single time they say something how can you focus on football when you're focusing on what other people are saying about you this one thing that gets said about in like reporting some creative term terminology used to describe coach Prime in that program that pissed him off and he got all salty and said byebye of BS right which is I mean that's that's hilarious that's creative I don't care what anybody says but but Prime doesn't like it and so he bans him it's extremely soft and I don't care who you are what you've accomplished as a coach or a player I I I missing eight to nine starters and that's almost the entirety of your offense or your defense is not good last year for Charlotte the passing game was inconsistent but they are hoping that uh Max Brown who transferred in from USF can hopefully fix all of that uh jerus Mack top receiver for Charlotte last year has returned and should be a weapon other weapons for Charlotte consist of CJ Strokes who came over from Michigan uh and the 49ers have attacked the transfer portal a lot to improve that includes on the defensive side of the ball Dre Martin from South Carolina and Dre Butler from Michigan State a lot of Drees here um demon Clowny Cornerstone for the defense played Edge had a huge season last year and if Charlotte has any chance of winning this game and also just winning games in general demon Clowney is going to have to be exactly what his first name is a demon uh James Madison is also missing quite a lot especially their head coach left so now we have new head coach Bob Chesney and you know he might be in for a rough year James Madison was very good last year but they lost a lot of talent starting with the quarterback Jordan McLoud who is now transferred to Texas State um with Jord McLoud out the reign of Dylan Morris who was a quarterback for Washington is going to be the new starting quarterback for the James Madson Dukes you're hoping as he was in that Washington quarterback room he learned a lot from Jaylen deore and also learned a lot from Michael penck okay um did I say Jaylen deor kayin de yeah jayen Jay there's too many um but James Madison should also have a good running back they've got former North Carolina running back George pedway joining the team hopefully he took some of Marian Hampton's talent that would be amazing for James Madison uh defense James Madison had to go heavy on the transfer portal they got a couple players like Lloyd sumerall from South Florida they really just robbed South Florida a lot um he was a stand out last year at South Florida so you're hoping that he can kind of be the leader of your defense and also Raymond Scott from Fresno State is coming in should also have a big role this year while James Madison is dealing with a lot new coach new quarterback they've got more experience than Charlotte and it also does not help that Charlotte is going to be missing 8 to nine starters yep I'm gonna go with James Madison on this one I think it's going to be close while they try to Iron Out The Kinks but it's at home Charlotte's a lot more beat up than James Madison give me the Dukes for this game yeah man uh one thing uh let me go ahead and put the Duke on there for you uh one thing about Bob Chesney is Holy cross was like no joke if you've ever watched them or or follow Holy Cross in any capacity you knew that there were no joke and it's because of that spread offense that they had there at Holy Cross which he's going to directly bring over for James Madison now the thing with James Madison and I'm GNA focus on James Madison because I think they're absolutely going to kill Charlotte uh Dylan Morris is the is a bright spot but then it's also what is he going to do I know he play tight end at Pittsburgh that has was on James Madison last year is a Titan I think in this offense Dylan Morris is going to have to rely on him a lot because they lost a lot when it came to the receivers elow of Sarat is not there Reggie Brown is not there two 10,00 yard receivers and one guy that you know honestly we've been following because one of his uncles we know him personally as Phoenix sprouls I mean they accounted for pretty much 20 plus touch Downs right there between the three of them and you know over you know 25 2600 yards so how do you replace that well you kind of go with somebody that's familiar and actually you know go with KY Wright I know they got a lot of transfers in for for James Madison but with what you know with what Bob chzn is going to do out there I think that they're going to feel really comfortable um I just don't think Charlotte has the Firepower to compete with them but James Madson got a ton of trans in um all over the place but their offensive line is probably the brightest spot they they bring back a lot of people a couple seniors actually three seniors on an offensive line and a sophomore the right tackle uh Pat Uh mck MC mury is uh coming over from Holy Cross as well so it's kind of like it's not somebody brand new because Bob Chesney knows him so you know you get guys that stay there and then you also get a familiar uh guy that's you know as as a a tackle Shor up on one side of the field so that being said man I think give me James Madison for the win I I think it's uh you know a two-score game probably seven they probably went by like 17 points um I I mean I don't think Charlotte's a pushover but they're the next best thing to being a you know FCS school as well um not sure why they've been in the FBS for so long but you know at this point in time can we get can we get the coach for Charlotte some sleeves man this dude is always walking around with the sleeveless gray hoodie like he's Bill bich stop it yeah but also being without nine of their starters is is going to be a below for them um and that I think that's you know you kind of get to see the depth of your team so I guess if you had a bright spot as a coach you get you kind of get to see that see if anybody that you didn't think was a starter could be a starter or could replace one of those guys as they come back in CU you know they you know they're proving what they got but also those guys that are backups this is your time to shine young man uh you can't let up on this opportunity you this only comes down you know it's unfortunate that the starters were out with injuries but this is the time for you to step up if it happened to Drew blo uh and special things happen for Tom Brady you know bad comparison but also good comparison because he took the bull by the horns so you know this is this is yall time to do that but K who you got winning this game I really wanted to to go Charlotte at first but when that news broke and I posted that article when I saw that I was like I I just I just can't like I I see James Madison now winning pretty convincingly the the argument I had initially was primarily revolving so yes I I have James Madison winning but the I my primary argument originally for Charlotte getting a win over James Madison was the fact that both teams had so many portal additions that there was a lot of roster turnover for both but James Madison lost a lot more crucial pieces in the portal um and so I'll I'll get into some of those jimmies and Joe's soon but to me I saw it as like a a Charlotte you know both added a lot but Charlotte lost a little less um along with you know being at home and and you know both have talented players on each side of the ball but now just like looking at James Madison right I I I just want to talk real quick about their head coach uh Kurt cetti who just left for Indiana which was a popul a popular destination for transfers leaving James Madison 13 players followed him to Indiana don't sell him short as a as a head coach right I know we're not talking about them but like he got Dante high tower Mark Ingram committed out of Alabama when he was there he coached Julio Jones and and he coached this team to be you know an FCS power to you know they were a top two team in the Sun Belt last year the only reason why they couldn't play in the conference Championship game was because of rules for new FCS teams like they were legit Elijah Sarat James Carpenter D'Angelo ponds Jordan McLoud all STS at their positions all of them transferred the first three at going to Indiana with their coach was the best quarterback in the conference yeah I mean this team was loaded last year and like I said they were decimated by the portal but they they had some really solid additions uh y'all mentioned Dylan Morris but then they add George pedway from North Carolina at running back and ioa Dei from North Texas and he was very productive these last two years in 2022 with North Texas he had uh 800 yards on the ground averaging over seven a pop and this past year he rushed for over a thousand on 7. y1 yards per carry mhm not much of a threat in the receiving game only had seven catches for 52 yards but maybe that's a scheme thing I don't know but ad day very productive and now he finds a new home with the Dukes James Madison I think especially with Charlotte not having that many starters out there for this game James Madison unfortunately is I only say unfortunately because like I originally had Charlotte winning but James Masson is going to be the better team out there on the field um and you know we talked about Bob chzn you know he was he was incredible at Holy Cross and I don't think this team will be as good as they were last year but they they have some solid pieces in place records is 111 and 46 yeah and I want to say he's he had double digit wins both of these last two seasons with Holy Cross and multiple playoff appearances yeah yeah so I mean he's he's going through the mud since 22 so yeah and K I was absolutely with you because especially with um pick and Charlotte let me clarify um especially just with the loss of Jordan McLoud you know best quarterback in their conference and then went to an inate conference but that's beside the point um but yeah the the 8 to n starters missing for Charlotte did not boast a lot of confidence no yeah I mean look they Charlotte had the most power like incoming power four transfers in the American Athletic Conference uh Max Brown the quarterback from Florida I think this was a great landing spot for him um they nearly upset Memphis last year they lost in overtime despite only having three wins all year I the defense improved allowing 11 less points per game from 2022 to 2023 and with some of their additions on defense I feel like they could continue to improve in their second year in the American Athletic Conference they added three offensive linemen who are now going to be starters they came from Georgia Tech Clemson and Texas A&M they added a lot of good pieces including Chance Williams off the edge from Miami I like a lot of the additions Charlotte made it's just when you're missing half of your starters essentially and you're going up against a team like James Madison who relative to Charlotte was already in a better spot and also added some legit dudes I just I couldn't pick Charlotte once that news broke Factory Outlet man yeah and it also it doesn't help that they didn't tell us like what side of the ball who the starter which I mean I get it that's you know that's that's for the coach to reveal and all that stuff but I don't know it's just it it is unfortunate yeah this I mean I I look for there's a there's a lot of uh movement that happened on both sides of the ball but hopefully you know we'll see exactly what happens in this game uh when it comes up but I think this was the the group of five you know game of the week right here according to us until we saw the we we already made a commitment to talk about it and the guy announced the nine guys got injured but it still could be interesting so we'll see what happens yeah that was on us for not predicting the future apparently so West Virginia and Penn State actually won our vote for for game to talk about uh a old school matchup and rightfully so like you know a a rivalry game that has got a lot of implications this year there's a lot of good players on both of these teams Penn State and James Franklin and West Virginia and Garrett green we'll see what happens uh let me also change this because that's not right but this is our power four game of the week and how the boys had this all spread out was Don's got Pinn State winning Hayden's picking what's considered the upset with West Virginia Tony's picking Penn State and if you had to put your money on the ECG pick it would be Penn State Kay who are you picking sir I'm rocking with Penn State I think this game could be a sort of know I know this phrase gets thrown out there a lot but like a trap game for Penn State even in week one absolutely you're you're in Morgantown Garrick green is one of the better dual threat quarterbacks in the country the running back Duo of the Mountaineers and Jem white and CJ Donaldson is the running back Duo that's going to be talked about the least considering Nick Singleton and KRON Allen are the Talk of the Town for Penn State and white and Donaldson are really really solid especially Jem white he's my boy hadam Fantasy last year great player um but when I when you look more into it right uh first of all West Virginia hasn't beaten Penn State since like 1989 it's a while do and Penn State does lose more uh key pieces Keandre Lambert Smith and out at wide receiver King Mack on the defensive side of the ball to Alabama Dante cus another wide receiver who's going to Kansas state but I really like some of the additions they made with Jaylen Kimber and AJ Harris in the defensive backfields especially AJ Harris who some people think he's gonna start at corner for them noan a former festar out of Wisconsin and then Julian Fleming from rival Ohio State I really like those additions Fleming certainly an upgrade over Keandre Lambert Smith and Dante cus giving Drew Aller a very very reliable wide receiver Target and West Virginia doesn't have too many um departures or additions just in totality they seem to be a program who is generally homegrown right which I appreciate especially in this day and age of the transfer portal but you know that the the running games are both going to be highlighted on either side especially with Garrett green getting involved for this Mountaineer team but to me like the thing that's really going to you know throw him for a loop I think is going to be is is going to be that pass rush especially with Abdu Carter coming off the edge now Penn State seems to be you know turning up the the NFL production on both the offensive and defensive fronts but with with Abdu Carter moving from off ball linebacker to to Edge rusher kind of like Michel Parsons did once he was drafted by the Cowboys it's it's GNA tough for for Garrett green out there I mean this this Penn State Defense is stifling year in and year out and I just I just don't think that West Virginia is going to be quite ready again I think they're going to be a really good team down the stretch but week one I I don't think that West Virginia is gonna have it all put together quite yet I see them more of a team that who's gonna you know get stronger as the year goes on but week one I think that Penn State's gonna have the jump on them and you know I both running games will be good but I think that Drew Aller is going to is gonna outdo Garrett green which might surprise a lot of people because I know that not many are high on Aller and and a lot of people including myself are big gar green guys it's just I I think that Penn State's defense is gonna is GNA be lights out Penn State West Virginia Old School matchup are you going to keep it old school Sor are you going to go with the upset um I don't know if I'd really call it well yeah I guess it would be an upset uh I'm first of all I would love to hear Hayden's reasons why he picked West Virginia he doesn't I'm about to give you my reasons of why I'm picking West Virginia to win this game um so right off the bat Penn State they got a lot of positives and negatives wait wait is that what you pick West Virginia I'm picking West Virginia I am picking what I like it so Penn State has a lot of positives and negatives going on for them I know you can say that about like literally every school but one of the biggest negatives is they are they have two brand new coordinators they have a first year offensive coordinator and a firste defensive coordinator um on the defensive side I'm G talk about their defense real quick in the draft they lost both of their starting edges and Shop Robinson and Adisa Isaac granted I know we usually talk about like oh Penn State might be like linebacker University I think that might be defensive Edge University because TI didn't they have the luxury of replacing them with TOS like Fair uh like K mentioned Abdul Carter who was awarded the coveted number 11 AKA stick City that's their tradition but he was awarded the coveted number 11 and Danny Dennis Sutton uh former Five Star as a true freshman he appeared in all 13 games was named a true freshman All-American and started in three of those games front seven as well is pretty good linebackers you know we look at Kobe King Tony Rojas Dominic Deluga we mentioned a couple of those the weakest part to me and I know K talked about them a little bit is going to be their secondary and we even saw some of those weaknesses like that was a big weakness for them in the defense last year as well um and I know you mentioned Jaylen Kimber earlier but um that Bo's not that good um and then again just new defensive coordinator Tom Allen you know he's inherited the the good thing for Tom Allen is he has inherited a defense that ranked third in Total Defense so that is going to help a lot that front seven is going to help a lot uh he's going to run a 425 so it's defense is going to be interesting that's definitely Penn State wrong suit the downside is going to be the offense they also have a new offensive coordinator in Andy cotal Nikki I think I believe that's how you say that Drew L is going to be very interesting because I don't think he's as I don't think he's that bad I think he's pretty good I don't think he was great I don't think he was bad he was very up and down it's going to be up to cotal Nikki to kind of re figure him out see what they can do uh the bride side is he's got he being C cotal Nikki uh dude worked under Lance Leupold at Wisconsin Whitewater Buffalo and Kansas um you know obviously K talked about KRON Allen Nick Singleton kind of a Down year at least in our standards we thought they were both gonna be like the best duo uh R best running back Duo last year they weren't was a bit of a Down to our standards but you got to hope that they'll back uh bounce back this year they probably will they're still going to be the strong part of this whole offense uh the weakest area on Penn State's offense is depth at receiver and depth at o line that uh Ben State lost a lot of o line Talent they're replacing two draft picks and their Center uh you know so right off the bat three of their starting offensive linemen from last year are gone that's going to be you know difficult to kind of mesh together all that stuff mhm and then for wide receiver room Harrison Wallace had his big moments last year he's injury prone I know K mentioned Julian Fleming who kind of has just been buried on Ohio State's depth chart he's coming back home you got to hope he's have he can have a breakout season and you got to also just help on offense that he can be the big explosive play that Penn State has been missing since they lost Jan doson as for West Virginia they had a season that we weren't expecting at all they went nine and four uh offens wise West Virginia is returning 15 of the top 20 players from last season on offense in terms of snaps what I mean by that is these are the guys on offense that experience most of the snaps uh majority of them are starters notable returners are offensive lineman Brandon Yates Millum and Thomas RI uh ryack quarterback Eric Green's returning Cole Taylor is uh tight end Cole Taylor is returning and wide receivers Tayon Ray and Preston Fox are returning those are the number one and two wide receivers um I don't know why I just drew a blank here I've lost my place in my notes Um Zack Frasier their Center that they lost last year in the draft yes he needs to be replaced that obviously is going to suck but they are returning majority of an offensive line who only allowed 10 sacks and only 35 pressures uh only one offensive lineman picked up in the transfer portal quarterback Garrett green had 16 touchdowns in the air and four interceptions but on the ground included the 15 rushing touchdowns Mountaineers had only 100 uh 1,981 receivings but between the two guys that I mentioned earlier Tayon way Ray and Preston Fox 1,200 of those yards and nine of out of those 12 touchdowns are going to be back I feel like with feel like West Virginia's returning a bit more depth on their offense it's at home they're not having two new coordinators I think this is going to be a very close game that could very well come down to a game-winning drive by Garrett green I got Les vir again I got West Virginia in this one they were they were really surprising last year and I think they're going to continue surprising it's early enough for Penn State it's early enough for Penn State to lose but I I know K said like oh well I think Penn State's gonna mesh better than West Virginia I have the opposite I think it's gonna be West Virginia that's going to mesh better than Penn State just right off the bat bang Zoom well but you like Don said in the comments West Virginia plus the points though do take that cuz it it I don't think it's going to be a blowout for either team facts agreed all right so here we go this one was a tough one for me it was I yeah but as you know here's here's why it's tough $300 tickets for nose beds in Morgantown smaller stadium in Penn State they are taking this serious I'm going tell you right now I thought Neil Brown was going to be doooo barries as a coach we were not very I don't think we had them winning a game last year we had a win in a couple but it wasn't many maybe still definitely not nine and four after I thought about it uh let let me just let me just hype up West Virginia to add on to what you're saying Wyatt Millum is one of the best tackles returning to a team in the country had one of the highest PFF grades out of any left tackle in the country I think he was number two as well regards how you feel about PFF the boy Zack the yeah he was on the same offensive line as him Garrett green is no joke and we saw what the experiment was kind of like when JT Daniels was there a couple years ago right and it did looked like gar green was kind of the guy cuz he was coming in and out and he has developed himself to be a pretty good quarterback in college football if not great CJ Donaldson is one of the most talented running backs if he can stay healthy I'm just put it like that I I think he's that good Josiah troter coming in as a red shirt freshman is going to be a weak side linebacker if you know anything about his dad and his brother they're pretty good players um but I I think one of the key players in this whole thing and to take a flyer on this guy in the transfer portal I know they got two cornerbacks that they got but Aiden Garnes from duaine putting up multiple interceptions is a great tackler had 10 passes defended but one thing when you you know you take a step back and realize what kind of player that they're getting is a guy that can tackle at the corner position and you're going to need that going against a Nick Singleton going against the KRON Allen and especially if you're blitzing the a big ass quarterback like Drew Aller you're going to need to tackle really really well so they they sh up that with that being said though I I do have Penn State winning this game and and a close one I think I think this is a this is a hell of a team to go against in your first week and rekindling a a a rivalry and the reason why I say they're rekindling in this is because both teams are good both teams are going to they're going to make noise in their prospective conferences I think Penn State could upset a team or two in the Big 10 if they put it all together Julian femon is one of the best transfers in the country that does not get talked about enough do you know how big that's going to be for for Drew Aller I don't think people realize how big that's going to going to be you guys have talked up the defense so I'm G Talk up the offense for a little bit Nicholas Nicholas Singleton and KRON Allen to me this is a maker break here for both of them to be regarded as one of the best double-headed you know running backs in the in the NFL if they don't put it together this year they're going they're going to make or break pin State I don't think it's going to come down to J L trying to win games I think what James Franklin is really what James Franklin is really going to be known as is how did you use Nick Singleton and how did you use KRON Allen this year to help out Drew Aller he's the best quarterback prospect you've ever gotten and you would hate to see his talent wasted after you brought a talent like you know Julian Fleming in that's going to take the pressure off the I just hope this year that whatever Mi miscommunications that going on between Drew all and the receivers last year they get that squared array really really fast this year with that being said I got Pinn State winning this one man I like the fact that you picked West Virginia but this one was tough man if you probably would asked me tomorrow more look at it I might I might pick West Virginia so and this one you'll you can even ask Don because I was messaging Don through this I was like I I'm struggling on this one um I just want to hear Hayden's reasoning yeah I'm just C again I had my reasoning I just wanted to hear Hayden's um but yeah and again the the whole I gotta agree with you talking about the Julian fluming being most underrated receiver because he was just buried on the talent of Ohio State's wide receiver room yeah I mean dude's been there for a hot minute and we've been like ah this is the Year this is the year he's going to take that step and be up you know with the r again you just got to hope that Penn State's finally getting back that explosive big play that they've been missing since Jan doson they're going to get it and and I I believe this is the year that they they they turn a corner on on one of these teams uh next game up Colorado versus North Dakota State so when we talk about it Don's going to give us the stats Guru Corner that's right he's been winning backstage this entire time let's bring him on so don got me some interesting stats about both teams so we'll talk about North Dakota State and this is the ECG game of the week FBS schools beat during the six game winning streak that North Dakota state had before it was ended by Arizona they beat Kansas Minnesota Colorado State Kansas State Iowa State and I believe Iowa was ranked like number 11 the time that they upset him so when you look at that an FCS school coming up and battling these I mean Kansas State Iowa State Iowa are not known to be pushover teams by by any stretch of the imagination and now they've got that roster full of FBS coaches they're ready to go and uh this could be one of those things where they can get the streak I would hate for the streak to get well no I won't hate it but it' be funny if the street got started back against a school like uh Colorado um the the next one up would be Colorado Colorado was outscored by opponents 418 to 338 in points per game interesting H so definitely the second half of their season was worse in the first half of their season for sure and they got smacked in yeah and they lost the teams that you shouldn't lose to the Arizona states of the world Cameron scab uh scabo or I think that's how you pronounce the name Cameron scaboo people people talk about Travis Hunter but can we talk can we can we talk about Cameron scaboo a little bit please from Arizona state that dude punts throws runs catches special team man he's crazy the true Iron Man athlete he is it's it's ridiculous put that man in the Olympics all right so let's get over to the predictions what the squad I was gonna say we should have saved this one for what the group was but fair DA has Colorado winning Hayden and Tony have North Dakota State and the ECG one is North Dakota State bet all the money pretty sure there are already bets going on anyways but still bet more money I'mma tell you right now man there's been a lot of crap that's been talked from Colorado this off season it's even worse than it was last season because of this cult following that that is happening out there in Colorado Jimmy horn Travis Hunter Shiloh Sanders who I think I'mma Be honest I've said this once and I'll say it again I think Shiloh Sanders is one of the best safeties in the country that nobody ever gives his flowers to because he has a brother on the other side called shador Sanders that everybody gives love to but Shiloh is no joke I think he gets made fun of because of his standed South Carolina his him and his dad not having the best relationship but on the other side of this man I I I really think that these guys uh or or him in particular are going to be what makes and breaks Colorado in this game he needs to have a great game for them to be an excellent team moving forward now there is a lot there is a lot here for them to deal with several FBS coaches have come over to the North Dakota State and they said we're going to smack them in the mouth I don't know if the pressure of what North Dakota state has is something that Colorado is going to have to deal with I think I'm not going to highlight a player on North Dakota State I think them as a unit are just going to come in there and they're going to there's not going to be a star player their defense is going to play great defense I think especially their front seven is going to be nasty I think North Dakota State's offensive line is going to be in incredible and I think they're just going to run the ball down Colorado's throats I don't and then by the time they get into the Red Zone this is what North Dakota state has always done if you've ever watched them play they run the ball run the ball run the ball and within 20 yards uh in the red zone They Dink and dunk you with the pass here and there they that gets in there because you don't know what to defend again I want to see a good game I really do but if this game comes down to one point I'm going to laugh take your L Colorado cuz I got the Bison coming in here and winning this game I don't care what the spread says I don't care what Vegas says I don't care what your grandma thinks I don't care what your kids your mom your dad your co-workers who gives a hoot state does no give me North Dakota State man I I I think they're going to be and excellent team not only to watch out for this year after seeing their their little brother well they want to call them little brothers but they've been really really good um but South Dakota state is there uh one guy that I I did want to highlight though one of the best left tackles that nobody talks about in Gray zabel I think he's going to be really really good this year for for North Dakota State as well um and I just think Colorado's front seven is going to going to struggle all the way around with this running game um and I think zabel is actually projected to be one of the top 100 NFL draft prospects in 2025 as well so so there there it is but I got North Dakota state in the upset here that is a wonderful wonderful point that you make there Dante um just looking at since 2020 Colorado has had four players drafted the last player they had drafted was William Sherman in the sixth round in 2021 so no one drafted since 2021 and they were a sixth round pick they've had two players drafted in the top three rounds and only one in the top two since 2020 North Dakota state has had one two three four five six players drafted four in the top two rounds and one first round infamously Trey Lance so North Dakota state is producing NFL caliber players at a higher rate than Colorado oh wait no you said since 2020 never mind 2020 yeah and that even include Carson Wentz right yeah I was about to be like wait a minute Carson Wentz and then Ethan stick or Easton stick also in 2019 right you're not counting some some talented players right it is North Dakota state is producing NFL Talent Colorado is not let's just get that out of the way I have North Dakota State winning this I don't think it's G to be particularly competitive either North Dakota state is also known for having Smashmouth teams year in and year out they're one of the best running teams rushing teams in all of FCS right and Colorado has been subpar when it comes to physicality in the trenches both on offense and on defense on defense right they were 110th in run defense now they brought in some some solid players on that defensive line through the portal I mean where what position what position did they not bring someone in through the portal for but that's besides my point Colorado I don't think did enough to address that defensive line I know I like some of the additions they did make it's just not going to be enough for this this running game that really is returning two key components in dual threat quarterback cam Miller who had a very efficient year and he protected the football and even his backup quarterback Cole Payton added 615 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground they had two quarterbacks with 13 rushing touchdowns they had four players rushed for over 500 yards last year and then they had two more with 300 yards this rushing offense is complete and it is going to blow Colorado like like they are going to be shell shocked at how phys and then the the one blow on defense that is going to really hurt is starred defensive back Cole wisi he was ruled out for a significant amount of time just the other day so they're going to be a little short-handed there because he was very productive in terms of tackles and he led the team in interceptions I think with eight so wsi's production both in in like you know tackling and production on the ball is g to be missed but I think that you know if Colorado may be able I think they' be able to move the ball against North Dakota State especially in the passing game that but they they're going to have trouble with that pass rush and even running the ball North Dakota State I think they're gonna I think they're going to cut through Colorado like like butter so I I really don't think that this game is going to be close for too long I think North Dakota State's going to be clearly The More Physical team and they're going to win by probably like 10 10 to 17 points is my guess but I don't I think that that 10 points is going to be a clear like a a clear beating like Georgia Tech Florida state was a three-point game a last second field goal but there was no doubt in anyone's mind that Georgia Tech was the better team that day likewise I think that North Dakota state is clearly going to be the more physical and better team than Colorado even if the scoreboard isn't like a three-score game right right well Sor you're the last man on the totem pole here will Colorado pull out what we believe would be the upset cuz all of all of us are so far except for Don thanks that Colorado is winning are you taking the points no no I mean pretty much everything that I had set up was already said I know C mentioned all those guys oops uh I know C already mentioned all you know the guys drafted by NDSU or drafted by NDSU drafted from from North Dakota State um most recently which we saw at the Senior Bowl was Cody mock in the second round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers so I mean they know how to put in offensive lineman which again I think uh yeah you know goes back to with with the guy that you mentioned on the offensive line and then again like K mentioned cam Miller Cole Payton I know we talked about the other day the um you know with SMU the Dual the Dual quarterbacks kind of killing momentum they can kind of get away with that here in North Dakota between cam Miller and Cole pton um you know again K mentioned each of them rushed for at least 615 yards and 13 touchdowns both of them that's not even talking about the 19 touchdowns through the air that Miller had and just the four interceptions so I mean dude this is just an explosive quarterback room with a strong offensive line if you ask Cody Mack you know a second round guy they know what they're doing with offensive line they know how to produce Talent yep um and then I know K you mentioned the guy the one guy missing on defense but you also got to look at defensive end Dylan Hendricks who led the team in six and a half sacks a year ago I mean right there that's the defensive lineman that we talk about that could potentially bully Jordan Sean all game I know Colorado wants to boat um you know talk about their new and improved defensive line those guys have it's yet to be seen it's just it's a bunch of names right now a piece of paper so it's it's really yet to be seen we'll see how they can handle with the Dual quarterback thread and again it's going to depend on is Travis Hunter on the field or not because if he's in primarily at cornerback then you're you know potentially looking at a big problem but if he's you know going to be subed out because he's playing both sides of the ball then you're going to have some drives where Colorado is just at their weakest because they don't want to have Travis hunter in at just cornerback primarily and even then I don't think I don't know if passing is going to be much that North Dakota's going to do again I feel like they're probably gonna run the ball over and I agree with GLE I think 10 points pretty
