Para Judo - Women's -48kg & -57kg Finals | Day 8

a [Music] [Applause] [Music] well hello and a veryone welcome to you wherever you are in the world it's great to have you with us it is time for the parudo here at the par Olympic Games you probably saw those wonderful shots there of the Sha Deal's Arena Just In the Shadows of the Eiffel Tower and in the shadows here of The Horseman who's about to blast us off here and let us know that is time for The Big Show and of course kicking things off in customary classical French theater style we're going to have the cud debat on but before we have that we have Neil Adams our Judo expert world champion double Olympic medalist how are you this evening sir I'm I'm doing great we had some great Judo uh in the earlier rounds and we saw some great ions I think we were both talking about it wer we just saying how good the Judo was and uh how positive and it was really nice to see that there so much variation and I always like to see the transition from standing down to ground and we saw a mix of of the two so hopefully we're going to see some great matches tonight in these medal matches we're going to see in the company of Neil Adams a resident expert as we go from the outstanding techniques to the outstanding moments and outstanding athletes of yester year Julian toin two-time Olympian and bronze medalist from 2008 she will lead out this opportunity now [Music] and of course that success back in the day in the par Olympic Games translating now to the moment to kick things off for the miners and it is indeed the Brigadier that's the big bat on in the hand of the wom on the left as you look at [Music] it and that was used to start off classical French theater to rise the C on the main Act and as Neil mentioned the main act tonight will be the medals who's going to claim them two categories J1 that's athletes who are legally blind and J2 that's those that have a different visual [Music] impairment and in the par Olympic Games in Athens 2004 and in Beijing and indeed in London Julian Tarin was a great representative for the fren Nation claiming that bronze medal in China in 2008 claiming now Center Stage for three big blasts on the C [Music] battle ladies and gentlemen in order to open the session with a bit of a French touch just like theater it's time for the to launch the competition [Applause] [Applause] welcomeing 2008 parudo BR medalist [Music] junor there are three par Olympian will now give three big blasts Save The Best For Last there with a big one at the end and it'll now be the time for the French tricolors to fly and Neil Adams what a wonderful environment you were here for the Olympic Games the atmosphere much better already yeah the atmosphere in here it's been magnificent through all of the Judo um in the Olympic Games and the wrestling we followed with now the Judo and the crowd we've had maximum crowds here every single time right the way up to the rafters but what we did noticed didn't we just before is all of the French flags in here there's a lot of French in here actually they were all center stage at the Olympic Games we wondered how they did that there must have been uh uh some uh people they knew it must have been that that because they were always Central Central stage now they're everywhere so uh when we've got French interest a little bit later on uh in the medal matches and that's going to be interesting to see if we can hear ourselves commentate or if the athletes can hear their coaches giving out the instructions because you mentioned Center Stage it's now time for the women's under 4 kg J1 category that's the full legally blind athletes Argentina will take on Brazil in this one this for the BRS of [Applause] course and here they come [Music] [Applause] Roes M she's going to have to be strong in this one an athlete from buenz [Music] [Applause] represen in Brazil yes they both had uh really good bronze medal uh final reper charge matches and uh both scored ipon so that was nice to see so they'll be coming out here full of confidence full of confidence and indeed full of instructions from the respective coaches trying to get them Cal and ready for this one Gaba just Brazilian coach there bringing things in to play a chance now for Rossi dento to do the same and you mentioned that rout through if you're brand new to parudo don't worry you're in capable hands with our expert Neil Adams but also it's really nice to see Neil as a non judoka looking at this with the referees bringing the athletes into position yes and especially the j1s they're totally blind so they have to be led in uh some of the j2s um uh can make make their own way there they just need to be kind of directed to the center and then it's Haim and away they go and it's all about the grips and that is the key Point here is that the gripping in Judo is the key point the start of the technique and right the way through the throws to the finish of the technique they start standing and they start uh gripped up and that's the difference here they have to keep two hands on they let go with one hand they've got to go in for a big attack or they could be penalized but the penalties just that little bit more lenient in in um J One NE mentioning hajim at the start there that of course to begin the player in white is Shiro and Al the player in blue and you mentioned also there the shidos there the penalties and actually as we look at the back of the Judo uniform the Judo G if you look for the Red Dot that will indicate J1 which is blind but also if you are deaf you will have yellow on the back of your Judo G as well yes they have both if they sometimes they're blind and deaf and so they'll have both the yellow and the red on there and it used to be on the sleeve they used to wear on the sleeve yes and uh so as you can see there uh blind and deaf and what what you will find now is that the referee um will with L Desma dur they uh will actually not only shout Joy uh which is what they instruct to get them to come back to the center of the area so the referee will always be Central and then they'll say Jodi as they joy as they go towards the edge and then they'll turn around and come back in but obviously if you're deaf and blind it's uh a a touch on the [Applause] shoulder and there it is that touch in the shoulder that you mentioned there from the referee and also Neil you explained to me that they they trace the scores on the hand to let them know yeah and they they trace the scores if they're going to give a penalty um uh if they were going to if she was going to give a penalty to lisma then uh it will be on the palm of her hand or on the back of her hand there it is so it's a she penalty and uh so she's just told her what she's got so she knows now that she's got to do something about that one Shido down a second one will put her under pressure and a third one it's all over so this is for bronze medal remember so uh the stakes are [Applause] high takes her high volume momentarily low both coaches can be heard both Joka keep theel bridged out of the way of any danger of course using their hands to feel their way into this one yes there's only certain instructions that the referee the U uh coaches can shout out oh look at that now then wasar scored and that was a really opportune seeing AGI I think and it's well I'm saying it's unusual but we've seen a lot of forward throws mostly we see backward throws but that was a nice one there and she landed at around about 90 degrees it's got to be a 90° Landing to get a weri flat on the back with impetus with power and uh it scores the I on that wasn't quite the ion was it she might get it I think even the was no they've taken it off so it didn't get WIP to off the so eon of course would be a knockout a winner and was a half point two of those bis you win the match yeah and sometimes they go really high up into the air we see it a lot you know and of course uh you can't score the the actual uh flight you have to score the actual Landing of the opponent oh that's going to be a score oh ion scored flat on the back and uh well the back patch has to to disappear and it has to be with a certain amount of force and that's a bronze medal brilliant stuff how pleased does she look wonderful moments for S Silva Deandra well Silva taking the bronze and taking the hearts here of the Shawn dear arena super quick finish will be confirmed now by the referee and of course they will confirm it as they have done all the way through with that lovely sporting Spirit as we see that wonderful moment there we've seen this all day today John and I mean I think it's absolutely wonderful you know the fact that they've had this massive Olympic moment and uh there they are one's a loser one's a winner and that was great opportune stuff there from silv De Andre oh she picked up the bronze and she's picked up the crowd's emotions here silv de andr has still got the energy left there nice with a win with a spin there lez maduri Rocko from Argentina part of that wonderful moment the tri will come off and only one will take the bronze at the end but as you rightly said there the the emotion the sporting Spirit exemplified here and there's something special about it you go from being Rivals to being instantly respectful of each other's achievement well that's the most remarkable thing isn't it about our uh Sports you know we're both in martial arts and you know the Deep respect that we have for each other and when it's all over they be we become great friends you know and uh that I think that's a wonderful thing and that was great opportune stuff there she went very very low to the ground there it was a great change of Direction and she just propels her onto a back there Silva to andrada there with great Taza the hands were magnificent not quite as good as that one there I don't know how many points that's worth certainly wor a Bron's made up for Brazil and a way to start things off here the knowledgeable French fans creating a wonderful atmosphere and just a great start to this one that is in the books now for Brazil and in the corresponding bronze medal contest we have Greece against turkey near Neighbors in terms of their location and they're on their way Emmanuel masuri of Greece against eim ttin chavar of Turkey ladies and [Music] gentl so congratulations of course to the referees who have been selected for these big moments as the CL give a little bit of innovation now for both athletes who have just completed their work now attention turns to this corresponding bronze midal matchup bronze medal match yes always two bronze medal matches and uh they have to get to a quarterfinal stage to stand any chance of a medal whatsoever we looking for that chance Immanuel masuru rank number seven in this one 27y old comes in to her first ever par Olympic Games [Music] [Applause] [Music] is chavdar ranked number one in this one par Olympic bronze medalist in Rio competed with distinction as Nasim umv the center referee gets ready to welcome in the world silver medalist from turkey and Neil this is a position that you know also well game plans have been run over in the call room you've thought about this prior to the paralympic games what's the key message now as a coach coming out I think you know when you come out everybody has an individual way of preparing for something you know it's saying the right thing at the right moment and not too much information I always think not too much just the right thing the things you've been working on so who can take use of that information will it be chavar or masuru s of gree and Chava give that respectful bout and the only difference between Olympic and Par Olympic is they start in this position here they're gripping up for the four minutes and they're underwe yes two hands on has to be drop Sagi there by and she's right on her now now we're seeing the transition to see kavar straight into the attack well they do have to come back to the middle they have to reset they have to and you often see jockeying for positions with the gripping the referee sometimes will uh warn them because they'll like to get sometimes arm over the top or arm underneath and uh they'll only get two warnings and then they get a a penalty you're telling me that Elite athletes try to take advantage of ref not no they do of course they do the shortest route to Victory is what's required true well I was saying earlier that we we hadn't seen many arm loocks and many uh strangles and then uh bang bang in in the repit Char matches we saw a couple that was nice to see but lots of transition to hold downs from the standing position and that's the key point about the Judo is that we have an all round game of of standing to ground now watch the change of uh posture as soon as they say Jimmy there into the defensive position and then one attacks oh yes waser scored so Tom andagi right the way underneath there and takes her opponent you could see it was a 90° Landing was arry scored straight away she scored with that all the way through the day just one mistake howon F gamley the coach in the corner obviously congratulating her there for team tury stav rosalis trying to keep his charge camp and that's a difficult one when you know that that's been the tactic all day but it's still be you but a champion does what they want to do when they want to do it and turkey halfway to Victory that's the part part the thing about our game is is that uh it is a game in is that we're trying to project somebody through the air but they're also trying to project us through the air so you get a situation where you're having to change your body position and also readjust your body position all the [Music] time she's going to do it again as well she's uh setting her up all the time for for the stomach throw there it is so uh just change of Direction this time now she's on to the arm now she's got a possibility here if she can latch into the arm properly and get her head in the right position she'll also try and change and bring her back towards uh us here she hasn't quite got the right balance for it so she could change direction but uh it's the pressure into this uh arm and into the elbow rather than into the armpit and she didn't quite have the right balance there to straighten the AR so the thoughts of both judokas now there's the first Shido warning that's a yellow card if you look up at the top left next to massui from Greece the see little flag there and as Neil Adams was explaining to us it's either by big throws onto the back with speed and control that'll give you the Eon onto the side we'll give you the wasar and as mentioned you can use those arm locks to get the opponent to tap yeah it's two Taps as well so two clear Taps to get the IP on and when they go on I mean it goes on pretty rapidly you know so the referee will be watching very carefully for that same with any kind of strangle or choke and uh pointing out the difference between the strangle and the choke and a choke actually goes across the wind pipe but a strangle will go to side of the neck there cut off the blood play but um there lots of different ways of doing it as well thank you for just explaining it not doing it on me in the commentary box so I'm sure some people would be glad if they were choked out on this one but trying to find some momentum now both Greece and Turkey Tangled Up in the center attempt at the drop cagi throw but just kills a little bit of time on the clock for chavar yeah well quite often we see as well that they they will set up certain techniques with their feet it sometimes looks as if the we look saw lots of Ashi Wasa Ashi means uh ankle or foot Wasa means technique is and then they'll throw a forward technique in so just watch uh for that and uh sometimes it's just to find out and then they attack it's it's really just a gauge yeah we saw good examples of it there those little range finders trying to get as much information as possible through the fingertips or the SS of the and obviously NE once you start to get into that foot touching calf touching distance then you can really get yeah reactions and also it's arms length so often because they can't let go so obviously can't be too far away if you're too close as well it's difficult so you need space so you need to create that little bit of space before you come in for the attack so by a ha's breath so far the wasi helping chavar out Manuela masuru still has plenty time to respond for team Haas aware of Greeks sparing throws can she bring to bear her skills as we creep towards the last minute now yeah 4minute contest and if it uh if it does go four minutes without a score it'll go into golden score then any score wins but we haven't seen that situation not many times that's a second wazari so she scored a second wazari there with that Ashi Wasa this time the uh foot sweep was successful she blocked and she pulled she used the hands remember what I said earlier about the hands start the technique they also finish it as well and she takes it down for a second wazari and the second bronze medal magical moments here at the par Olympic Games hassin chavar of turkey against her near neighbor Emmanuel masuri of Greece gave the big thumbs up to the crowd and they Echo it back with a very knowledgeable cheer here and this must be something as well now because France a very strong Judo Nation obviously packed house here in the Sham dears and they're appreciating every detail every detail most of everybody in here I would say has been H to Tami or of done Judo they have an interest and it's in every school not every school but most well she got the uh rosari for that one and as you saw her opponent there went very quickly onto her front sometimes you see it at speed you go well that wasn't on the side but when you see it and it and you stop it stop the action you can see that it was but uh that was very close to the mar but she gets it she gets it she also gets the bronze to join the wonderful efforts earlier on but of course now that both bronze medals are in the books it can only mean one thing the first par Olympic final here the gold medal contest shizuka hangai against Natalia nuk Japan against the Ukraine [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] the fans flying the flags here and the Shawn deals whose hopes are going to be flagging when it comes to the final note there was a guy selling the flags outside he sold out did you buy one no I didn't I was the only one that didn't well who can cash in now when it comes to the gold medal contest women's under 48 kg now the J1 [Music] category and here she is the 36y old hangai shizuka from iwaka in [Applause] Japan it's now her fourth par Olympic Games for the Asian para games silver medalist [Music] [Applause] [Music] Olivier Des will be in charge of this one nikolich Natalia already on the way in the double world champion and indeed back-to- back medals at the par Olympic Games for her two-time European Champion just been walked into the ring there Miko romanit the coach in the corner for teamuk and Yuko is odaki the coach for team Japan big moments now in this fast final I think what I like about nikolich is that she has a really nice stance but she's got a work cut out here against hangi who she had really good form and uh really good spirit you know she uh has come back a couple of times but uh she'll have a real problem I think with the nice upright stance of her opponent and which is quite usual cuz quite often you see them bend over so look at the upright stance there always the head pulling up always trying to use the back as well to create that little bit of space Neil Adams providing us with the expert analysis the difference in stances as they tried to advance in France for this possible gold medal both in the J1 category the Little Red Dot in the back as a aborted throw halfway through there is not just the Japanese flag but also the J1 as a possibility for the referee there wasn't far off that little uh strangle there was the lapel sometimes when you have the lapel and they drop down it automatically wraps around the neck which uh creates a strangling situation so it wasn't far off almost the lapel show but not quite here we go gripping up again in the center well she'll keep the head back and then she'll come across for the uh right leg of uh of hangi and she'll know where it is because she can feel it and she feels it through her back look at that changes direction oh great change of Direction then drops siosi there and when it goes downward in trajectory it turns into siosi and cagi is more from a standing position and now she's looking for the groundwork to finish it off and the crowd so appreciative they loved [Applause] it team Ukraine will be loving it as well Natalia nikachu making that strong start here shizuka hangai still has plenty time left has to be careful though and she'll Neil have F felt the strain straight away in that upright position she feels the awkwardness she's tried two or three times to tap to the back of the Cales why is that well they tap just like I say to feel the range you see her going to the inside of the legs there then she knows where they are and she can feel the distance and then she can turn and rotate to the forward position but uh it's the change of Direction that's messing her up and that's on as well she's got the strangle on and she oh she has to turn inwards to release the pressure because the strangle was actually on there so when they go down because of the grip they have to make sure they keep the neck down because if they keep the neck up that's why they both nearly got caught with it kichka is Ukrainian for turtle to keep your neck tucked in she's having to do that just now at the momenta nikolich she has that wazari Advantage she's halfway to Victory as we're halfway through this engrossing final now what a great final this is and she might come on top here now she she can get away from that leg tie up the top half here and come round the legs she might find it difficult uh because the H GUI will be quite good with the ground workor she's going to come around the other side though she's tied up the top half now she'll come up with the leg to take that leg out while that leg's trapped she will not get the uh count for the hold down and then if she does get it out she'll only need 10 seconds for the hold down because she's got a wasi on the board so if there was no Wii on the board it's 20 seconds seconds so you get a bit of Advantage a bit of credit in the bank at the moment that one wasar is all that separates [Applause] them referee having a little look over to just make sure that the Judo G is tightly wrapped up it is the city of fashion after all got to look your best here in the gold medal contest but looking pretty good so far we were talking about it weren't we about U when they close down sometimes you know that people don't want to lose but these are going for it you know it's nice to see them both going for it yeah of course trying to defend your way to a par Olympic title impossible you've got to attack fortune favors the brave and at the moment the fortune in the corner of ukan but anything can change in a second tries is and that was what she was looking for and she gets the arm lock as well all for wow she just that was brilliant she was waiting for that she uh knew it was there somewhere she just had to wait her moment and that was brilliant stuff there from nich and that was a brilliant Ooa Gary she was already a wazari up and now she finishes it off not only did she throw her but then she turned around there and she arm locked her well just for good measure and in doing so she's locked up the par Olympic Title Here Natalia nikolich from the Ukraine wonderful moments for those back in Ravine and those exactly who knows what it means hangai shizuki just says well done silver medal for team Japan but the emotions beginning to come out now as they take their moment in front of the crowd that's a massive moment that was absolutely brilliant I mean you know such good Judo we've seen some great Judo today and you know that upright stance for me was one of the key points because not only was she resisting not just with body posture with the hits going out which is called a jiger tie but also she was in a standing position ready to come across and also defending with her hips and her body look at this now waiting for the right moment that was the first cagi there very low siosi cagi movement and there was the otar to finish it off absolute [Applause] Brilliance also good with the oso toari confirmation nikolic from the Ukraine taking that inaugural par Olympic title as we turn our attentions now to the men's under 60 kg gripping as we see the final rankings overall tury and Brazil with a brace of bronze suuki hangai with the silver and of course the award your Champion Natalia nicuch who can do the same here as we move up now into the under 60 kgam men's G1 categories and it's bronze medal match number one [Music] so here he comes Marcos Dennis Blanco fifth last time in Tokyo at the par Olympic Games flanked there by oido almea his coach [Music] [Music] reprid and he comes the man from garut in Indonesia age 28 blanked by his coach on the way into this one from the Republic of Korea e [Applause] yongil and this is be root through Neil yes there well again just fantastic Judo and of course being the lightest weight category we're going to see uh it it's fast it's a lot of drop shoulder throws we see and um it's extremely quick as well off the Haim so uh just expect all systems go from the off hajimu of course meaning to begin as they begin this 4minute contest they're gripped up searching for that dominant position if you throw your opponent straight on to the back you win by Eon if you throw them onto the side you'll get a half Point other than that we have Neil Adams for the expert analysis as a referee stands them up eong the coach in the corner yes I think that's one of the big differences here at J1 is is that they have to uh get just put back into the middle again they have to readjust their their gripping again so it's in their interest especially if you're a big thrower to keep the grip make sure that you've got a dominant grip and it's all about dominating the grip you dominate the grip take your opponent's grip off and you're going to be in the position to throw I'm always surprised that they for me for a J1 to have incredibly smooth transition would be the key point so transition being from one technique to another uh from standing down to ground right so actually so actually knowing where you want to be I mean and and able boded we we're always teaching that how important the transition is I think in J1 it's even more important trying to master that transition the man from Indonesia Juna that's good attacking from him and so obviously athletes are unable to see but that muscle memory is that what's helping them to get from that standing position to the ground and doing it continuously muscle memory and and also they're using different senses to to know where they are and and the reason that the referee will always bring them back to the middle is if that if they just shout Haim CU you think well let's just shout Haim but if they're near the edge they don't sometimes know because of what's happened before that they're near the edge so that's why they always bring them back to the middle oh that's a score wasar great counter waiting for it well sometimes it's about Counterattack you can't wait too long for counters and the the rules don't allow you to do that but you get the timing right and somebody's just a little bit off balance then the counters are the obvious way to go [Applause] [Music] if you have just joined us you're looking at it thinking what's the scores what's going on Venezuela one wasi that's a half score the E point would be the full score to take the win and it's a 4minute bout they start off gripped up like this and as Neil Adams at expert is told us it's about getting that dominant position as both men push their hips back to try and stay safe yeah he's trying to come across there as you saw and you know you get it a little bit wrong remember that they can't see so it's all on field so sometimes when they come across the opponent's not always where they expect them to be and that's why the counters then become very prevalent you know because they then it it if they if it's controlled with the hands become a major technique so the hands even more important here is Marcos Blanco been told to work in that close distance to get in there close it off the call from the Venezuelan coach he he might get penalized here the Venezuelan because uh I I think that he's he is defending he's a wasar up and he's uh he's starting to go into a defensive position he's blocked out there he is so he gets the py for it and a little bit more lenient in J one but it it was obvious it's always the danger isn't it you've got the lead you start to compete against the clock instead of your opponent so concentration required Shoots for the leg not far away yeah concentration and look there still two minutes they're not halfway yet and speak a little bit then Neil obviously the conditioning and the fitness because obviously you're going to do lots sparring but the strength and conditioning the cardal work needed to be able to sustain this it's a long old day they'll have been on the bus at 6: a.m. it's now almost 600 p.m. well I always say to people about how physical our sport is but it's um when you have any sport where you're latched on to somebody else oh that's going to be a score wasi scored wasi Wason he's done it two wasar and that is all over and uh it was Yoko toosi he just hooked the outside drove with the hands there and uh placed him literally placed him onto his back we'll see it with the slow motion how the hands worked there to finish that off and those hands will be accepting a bronze medal at the Paro Olympic Games for the first time ever Marco Dennis Blanco as explained managed to drive forward picks up jenada there and to be picking up that bronze medal as well richly deserved and Ne we mentioned about the fitness also that explosive speed there it's explosive speed muscular endurance physical uh uh speed uh timing we were talking about how important the timing is and the momentum so you're using momentum and we'll see in this Replay in a second how important that momentum is because he caught him just at the right time and it looked almost as if it was just a hand movement there's the first one that was the Counterattack and there's the second one there and he just drives him over that outstretched leg and O Odo obviously delighted as well coach and athlete embrace the embrace the big occasion exploding onto the podium there wonderful moment for Marcos Dennis Blanco of Venezuela and we'll now see the corresponding bronze medal matchup between Brazil and India yeah alot do Rivera number two cap parar what can he produce in this one it's been raining here in Paris but they've been raining in the big throws entertaining the fans here as Elton DEA makes his way in the 28-year-old from manal out near s Paulo silver at the most recent har Pan amican games in Santiago chiley braa the coach brings him inia [Music] capil parar on the way in now the 24y old from a place in India called luck now I wonder how much luck you'll have in this one as Brian TOS brings them into position for this one the silver medalist from hou the Paran para Asian Games couple of years ago in terms of matchups the root through here yeah that's um the roote through again just one mistake each of these and they've just come off a win in the reper charge finals and now they can see that uh there is a light at the end of that tunnel there's a possibility of a medal and away they go I think that's really good as well in Combat Sports now when you have to compete for the bronze yeah and actually the only medal that's lost is the silver medal isn't it we talked about that but um that's why you see the silver medalist is the only one not smiling on the rostro there's not too many silver medal celebrations but you'll see the big celebration here as we get into the business end now a 4minute [Music] bout there's the coach's [Music] view one or two of the coaches got like reprimands a little bit earlier on just uh talking when they shouldn't do they are allowed to shout certain instructions out that's the difference as well from a coach's perspective uh than able boded because uh they're not allowed to other than the mates but most of the instructions will come in the mates and you uh if if we get ever a closeup of the uh coaches you'll see them shouting as soon as they go mate like that then they they get all their instructions hopefully not too much instruction but just the right things oh and he caught him that's in hi on and Soto makomi there that was a mistake there and you can see that well delivia de Oliva sorry just stopped and he was straight in there Palmer and you mentioned it the other coaches Jean bansa of Brazil looked dejected there because that momentary lapse in concentration Capal Palma capitalizes and it's pal Mar and Paris fix their claim and it just shows you exactly what we spoke about there the I'm sure mamar and Zar Ali the coach for Team India will be elated because it was that presence of mind to not switch off for that Split Second just took his opportunity there you know and some he felt it and sometimes you know that opportunity comes from a little bit of uh LAX in the arms and and the tension just goes and you go now to the opportunity and he was in like a shot and he'll be shooting up onto the podium as we see all the opposition coach and athletes embracing the moment and making sure now that they get back down the step safely but that step there Neil Haim as he was saying had Jim he must have just got it out because then the makikomi came he just swung the leg across there and Coach says I'm not so sure that was on the Haim but uh well that's the rule and they all know that's why the uh bottom goes out sometimes but uh in this case it didn't happen right on hajim which means to begin as it begins to become clear now the successes in the bronze medal matches also in the bottom right of your screen the podium is already there who's going to be on it at the top of this one Iran or Algeria say mesam bitab koram abadi from Iran a big name in the sport of course is Sayad abadi and he goes against bumar Abdul from [Music] Algeria so the world champion sprinting into the arena arm in-arm with his coach [Applause] sayadi world and Asian par Champion his coach Muhammad Resa helping him in and he'll be helping him out in this [Applause] [Music] one six years his senior Abdul kader Balmer the man from alers in Algeria 41 years young as Heather lens of Belgium brings them into the center here in this one and it's worth noting that buar Abdul recovered from a very serious knee injury toward his ACL in the Grand Prix in haberg in Germany he's rehabed that he back and Neil Adams is going to have to be ready for this one well you have and you know the rehab sometimes I mean it's a great motivator isn't it rehab I always think here we go let's see if we see a an attack straight off the grip this time this is it then the gold medal contest well I said it was quick it's a different kind of speed than the heavier weights it's not so much just the speed of the attack but it's the speed that they're moving around the taty as well and keeping their awareness of where they are well spinning yeah well I mean that's exactly it isn't it I mean sometimes you have a flurry of attacks there where am I you know so the referee plays a big part in uh letting them know exactly where they are and exactly where you are the Paris par Olympic Games gold medal contest now for the men's under 60 kg the J1 grouping for athletes that are completely blind they have the Red Dot on the back as blue goes against white for gold left to left and uh the left stance means that the front leg there is normally the one that they'll aim for but that can be the danger leg as well because you can uh normally get countered with the same technique if you're R around it and your uh body weight's not going forward you haven't quite got it right but uh left to left and actually it's really funny because if you ask lefties who they don't like to fight it's lefties are they lefties this universal law of dealing with the difficulties as we see Muhammad reah haaji the coach in their ining Corner trying to take advantage of that you called it before mate to pause and it's at this moment they can give that instruction but the awkwardness of the Southpaw in boxing Universal the difficulty of dealing with the left foot in front and other Combat Sports the same so awkwardness the option as they switch back now yeah well you know cuz I mean you have it in your own sport you know with Taekwondo and stance plays such a m Ive part in the game so Joy is the uh shout is the um the call to get them back into the middle the referee will be in the middle there Jo guy Joe guy and they'll get louder and louder uh but of course we have got a situation here in J1 where some are uh deaf as well as blind and so then it's up to the referee to follow them touch their shoulder give them some kind of indic Ator but they're getting close to the edge have been very impressed with the referees as we try they hook that leg around there they've done it and they haven't been obtrusive they've not been in the way of the action the referees they've let it flow but kept the athlet safe this is a erased platform here at the Sha dear Arena yeah how important is that to let the flow of the context you know you talk about letting the flow and sometimes I think rules can kind of interfere with that can't they very much so you mentioned the transition from standing up to being on the ground the referee doing outstanding work so far as they have done as they try to battle for that they battling for the inside grip so they're both of these now they'll get a warning if they don't so she'll warn them in a minute and then there'll be a penalty at the end of it if they're not careful what could be at the end of it as a gold medal who's going to make the big moves both men keeping it defensive [Applause] sayadi the man from Iran abdad bumer the aerian in blue tries to get that big throw on the board wasn't far off was it I'm just about to say that you sometimes have to change the flank little bit like a a football going down the right wing all the time sometimes you got to go down the left youve got to switch the play but the big goal of course the gold medal still plenty of time concentration the watchwood now Islamic Republic ofan the view from the coaching Corner that one little Shido penalty yeah doesn't seem much you think well one Shido I've got another couple but you haven't you've only got one other and it changes the play because then you go to defensive mode CU you don't want to make a mistake now can he do it he's following it down looking for the [Applause] opportunity and was that the opportunity to get the arm out yeah well the thing is first of all is it's not just about getting the arms in it's about getting a leg in as well because you can get so much more control by using your legging ground work than uh using the arms so a lot of it starts with the legs then comes to the arms as well oh who can get their hands on the big gold sacrifice throw attempt there say he's not having it all his own way is he AB he was very dominant in the run through to this a big shout there obviously feeling the pace now as well and feeling the pressure which is of course a privilege of the par Olympic Games final the Pinnacle of their career they're going to attack again now there's the cagi looking for the distance just defense from abadi well this was always going to be a tough one wasn't it they're both Fighters it's quite evenly matched actually between the two [Applause] as you would hope in a final it's the men's under 60 kg gold medal contest Iran and Algeria gripping up as hard to do tries to get that push into the belly for the throw over but well defended yes he kind of expected it now he's got a possibility to get this leg out if he can get one of the legs out and he had to do it fairly quickly referee will let it continue as long as it's Progressive it has to be [Applause] Progressive referee just letting them get their own grip have to change it at all [Applause] [Music] well they came out spinning and turning at high speed tries for that kick over but again the crowd understanding that that wasn't fully executed yes the Tomi that is he's trying you can do it with both legs you can do Yoko tominagi which is off to the side Yoko meaning side H and you can do one that goes traditionally more over the top uh which is just completely over the head uh which is the cater form of of of the Teri we're going to have a little conversation I think here just to ask the coach to Camp down a touch here Muhammad re Ali and in that technique Neil the the feet are digging into the hips go around about the belt line so the belt line is the aim because then you get equal uh balance if you're going underneath them oh that's a score was arei scored great change of Direction there the world champions gone over maybe pulled a muscle there at the same time on the Inside Yes done something well I think he was saying that his opponent did something or is that a scratch yeah some think it'll be some kind of uh mark on his chest I think but the big thing that'll be around his chest could be the gold he's got the wasar he's halfway with 40 seconds to go he certainly yelped up in pain there yes they're going to have a look to see what happened there and uh well abadi is being accused I think of of doing something so we're going to have a little look see what happened there but he was really quick with that wasn't he Balmer he scores and uh to prevent him closing it down something happened underneath yeah there was a request straight away there for the video review you'll not be prev to exactly what that was no normally we can see it but uh we haven't got a a possibility to see what they're looking at here but if they do decide and the video referees and the commission if they do decide that uh it's an infringement against the uh spirit of Judo then they will uh disqualify that would be hok kumaki that could be the difficulty for SED mesam Maadi the man from Iran already won wasar down they're having a little look here to see if needs the doctor's attention looks like it he's coming towards our commentary position here to get some medical repairs we obviously give him his dignity as we find out what that is but he looks to be okay to continue yes and 43 seconds left it's still enough time to get some kind of score he will need to bring the wazari back to even the playing field or Anon will win it of course it will and of course there a chance now for the world champion isim s r by koram abadi just having a little listen into his coach there Muhammad reah haaji some running repairs going for bumel Abdul kader who just off to her right is seems to be okay so it could have been a scratch now it looked like a muscle it it's might might be uh you know an injustice uh to aad to say that it was anything that uh wasn't quite right but anyway looks like he's going to continue regardless of the injury whether it be a scratch or whether it be a muscle injury there's no Shido been given out there's no penalty at all no so it was all part of the movement and everything carries on so now 43 seconds to hold on to that waser and watch aardi come forward now because he's got nothing to lose now and of course on the other side of that we're going to see Balmer just that little bit more defensive he'll just want those seconds to tick away into the last 20 [Applause] seconds the referee just telling them to stand we'll take a pause we'll go into the dying ambers now of this gold medal contest both coaches trying to do their best to encourage PA chidoka down the stretch here but now the business end who's going to be the Paro Olympic champion in the under 60 kog you've got the best seats in the House watch and enjoy yes a now just needs to stay moving one good attack offense is better than defense so rather than risk another P penalty he needs to keep moving now this is crucial now he wants the inside grip here and away they go and big defenses into the last 10 seconds can't get the rotation and he's not going to do it there for Algeria B Abdul kader closing the clock down closing down the efforts came up against the world number one the world champion he has the chance now to run down the clock and take this par Olympic tle at the first time of asking well he has to adjust his judogi make sure that it's tucked in they have to do it themselves and now two seconds now the backside will go out absolutely and that's it it's all over he is the paral olypic Champion magical moments for bmer Abul kader came in as the underdog emerges as the champion started off at high Pace giv Sayed abadi the runaround early landed that one maardi if you're going to win the par Olympic title you do it against the current world champion that's the way to do it good performance and great sportsmanship there from Sayad abadi well this BR things better of both men the par Olympic champion great great moments for team Algeria so much effort intensity in the training and that desire paying off there he wasn't favored coming in abader bu the favorite going out the par Olympic champion here in the under 60 kg and a really really good final yes there was the counter well again waited for the opportunity there a failed attack there from abadi and he gets Tay Ward over quite right it was a good score and he was on his side and the crowd are on his side as well wonderful exhibition of Judo silver medalist going to the Islamic Republic of Iran for SED abadi abader buer the par Olympic champion in the men's under 60s as we see there the overall standings outstanding stuff AB brace of bronze for Venezuela and India Iran with that silver and the par Olympic champion for the first time for Algeria congratulations to him Lent [Music] so you probably could hear JMA there our Stadium MC just taking care of business very pleasant moments of course for the under 48 kgr gripping and the medalists and their assistants on the way in no assistance required when they were on the mat and Neil Adams these are moments to the podium that you know well yeah it's fantastic isn't it what a great feeling when you're marching out there you know that you've uh we're finished for the day but you know you've done a great job and that's what they all have done you know it's a great job [Music] and doing their job now will be the guides just helping them up just to know exactly the step that they have to [Music] [Applause] take [Music] member accompanied by ibsa exective [Music] director medist representing turkey CH and representing Brazil [Music] oh great moments at the Paro Olympic Games for et tassen chavar of t as she takes her bronze medal [Applause] here yeah what a great uh performance from the these athletes because uh it was some great Jud know we've seen a real mix of uh different counters big smile there look at that smile says it [Applause] all nice smil there fora Silva Deandra of Brazil they be smiling as they take their souvenir Bonnie fan and I like to touch here with the Golden Boot as well something a little bit special for the Medalist special moments for turkey hm tassin Chava par Olympic Games bronze medist Silva deand likewise for [Music] brazilan and in terms of finals we had a real treat I I thought it was a great final and it was great to see as I say the different styles there of both of them actually normally you see the upright style of the Japanese but this time she was the one that was uh bent more bent over but uh yes beautiful style at the Gold med list we'll talk about that in a second well indeed shisuka hangai from Japan gave it everything in that final the tables [Music] [Applause] Rion [Music] ukra the pan Olympic champion Natalia niic the only thing shaning greater than her eyes know is the gold medal and she was tremendous I think that she had so much control of every contest that I saw her in she had control of the attack she had control of the defense she had good kumata good gripping and uh her posture was just superb her body position also superb in F control Natalia neic doesn't need to control har [Applause] [Music] note ladies and Gentlemen please stand if you are able for the anthem of Ukraine la [Music] n [Music] magical moments at the par Olympic Games here in the Sha deal the par Olympic champion and the women's under 48 kogam J1 classification and she was class from start to finish it him tassin chavar of tur with bronze Rosalita silv Andra likewise for Brazil shizuka H guy for Japan with that silver medal and there's the champion what a champion she was too uh broke down a little bit there and first time I've seen her yeah well absolutely tears everywhere but that was a great performance Tears of Joy from the champion and that completes the women's under 48 kg Victory ceremony medals to the medalists and our flits and congratulations to them as they take their lap of Honor around the Sham dear and we'll take a quick lap there lovely moments [Applause] [Applause] moments of Joy at the par Olympic Games for team Ukraine some momentary relief and joy for all the ukrainians Natalia ncuk delivering in that one [Applause] [Music] [Music] well good work from the DJ as well we could be heroes heroic efforts from all [Music] competitors magic moments for the medalists we will turn their attention back to the Judo now this is always the nice uh part isn't it because uh you get chance to talk to the media and just salute your fans family if they're up there and you'll know it very well knew you train in isolation you and your teammates sweating and struggling and working away and suddenly there's the bright lights there's the music there's a lovely Arena and this is their moment to enjoy it it's a great life is it I mean we have this great life for so many years and then all sudden it's kind of tailing off and you kind of know it's it's coming to an end then you have to uh buy your own training gear and stuff like that you no longer get paid to do it you have to pay to do it yourself exactly but paying the price and getting the rewards there excellent stuff and coming up night will be the women's under 57 kg as the referees get themselves ready John amria over usbekistan goes against Angela avaras of Ukraine [Music] [Applause] a big cheer and a big moment now forjan amria the 25y old makes her way into this one that br at the Asian parag Games the biggest medal in her career can she make it a par Olympic bronze to [Music] [Music] match Angela have making her way in Cataline fried the Hungarian in Center referee will be waiting for her there as the 26y old from Ravine faces up against uljon Anda yes again looking to a good open Match and I I often talk about a match being open because there it's it's it is a um a thing that sometimes you can be afraid especially when you get to a par Olympic medal match uh afraid of losing making a mistake but uh like to see an open match both going for it we've seen that all day today we're seeing it straight away in this bronze medal matchup between usbekistan and Ukraine AAS and amria looking for the turnover there for the Nea balance wasn't quite right needed to get more down towards the back end of her opponent there to start the turnover for those of you brand new to par Judo naaza is those ground techniques you can still get that submission if you hold your opponent down for 20 seconds you can take the big win yes arm Locker strangle for submission as well so three different ways of winning there's only one way of throwing well throw the your opponent onto their back with him because there are lots of different directions that you can do [Music] head to-head Tangled Up in the center here nether committing just yet no they're just they're setting each other up first of all touching with the legs and then one of them will throw it in we'll see a shoulder throw soon I think one of them trying to set it up for the drop ciue of the Ukraine largely the longer arms as the referee calls mati to have a little W with B yes it took a little bit longer than than it would normally but coach just told there just to quiet it down a little bit obviously shouting for his fighter to attack so it's Aid Shido and they've got to do something so it's not only just about setting it up it's not just about posture it's about setting up the posture dominating the grip and attacking if you don't do that you get the yellow card to match the lini and yellow three of those you're in trouble but looking in trouble now yes it was uh the danger there of getting counter staying in too long there a little conversation with the coach here who's been asked to take a step back a little bit of another Shido there warning it's not just a step back either she's got to take a different seat she won't be able to stay within the shouting range so she will uh be escorted out on to the coaching steps there for being a bit too robust with the instructions both Fighters just taking their time here neither wants to make the crucial mistake looking for that range with their legs yeah like I say I think the very low Drop Cen egis and drop shoulder throws are going to be what's going to score here oh look at that well she did Yoko gaki there she blocked with the leg and it was the pulling action with the hands took her opponent over so nicely executed there and what an hipon that was what a time to come up with that it was exactly as you said Neil Adams with the expert analysis and indeed predictors there drops down and picks up that bronze medal and of course the scored by epon will be confirmed Now by our Center referee and it's backto back successes Angela Haru from the UK CR taking that Aon taking that bronze ojan Ambria gave it as much as she could she'll now be getting the chance for her coach to come and help her back off the map because that's a key aspect to as much as the coach was banished for being too excessive with her coaching she'll be back now to help amraa back down the state but Angela aesu taking the bronze yeah it was uh it's always unfort because in defense of the coaches there is much into the uh Fighters you know they're part of the whole process and they're in there with them and they want to shout certain instructions there is Yoko gaki there she blocks she pulls and uh she takes her cleanly onto her back it was all part of the same movement and it was with a little bit of force there and control total control [Music] yeah as you rightly say the coach's passion forged in all those efforts and those efforts paying off there Havasu of the Ukraine taking the bronze medal and the women's under 57 kg coming up next now Argentina against Canada they had a Pan-American battle between paa Karina Gomez against brazilla G the French fans getting warmed up to they have some home interest coming in the next category but our eyes and our attention now in the last bronze of the women's under 57s PA Karina gome paa Karina Gomez from Merlo and Argentina on the way into this one Gaba the coach giving her a little bit of encouragement and [Applause] [Music] [Applause] guidance prisilla G Ki G here which is to win Olivia desos the center referee running the ru over this one the Paro Olympic game silver medalist from Canada and her coach of course Andre sadesh someone that you know rather well new I do yes yes we used to fight each other we are absolutely true friends what we this on the Judo mat this wasn't in the street this no this is on the Judo mat yes is just um a good pal from Poland and also yes very good friend he was also team manager with uh my my wife and of course uh the uh Canadians will be all shouting here for Priscilla G who uh will be going for yet another par Olympic medal working away here of course PA Karina Gomez what can she do much more the senior of the two plenty of experience at the par Olympic Games back in Rio a 39-year-old was absolutely elated to make it into this stage can she turn this pressure into points she takes chances and she goes for it she opens up you know and she she really does take chances and uh as long as she doesn't uh just make a mistake with a balance then uh that's a good thing but she'll have to be careful of the uh the counter of course and it is that line isn't it between fearless and Reckless yes yes it's a really good line isn't it it's a really sensitive line that trading at the moment paa Karina Gomez as the referee gets them back underway good guy guy arm over the back there from kagne and that means then that possible big hit movement and there big Sassi sakashi there where they block the foot use the pulling action there sasi means SAS Suri for me means lift pull so it's a lifting pulling action that they do but they block the leg at the same time and you're also is that a sacrific position where you're throwing yourself is but you turn it so that it's not a sacrifice a sacrifice position is when you go on your back for the tominagi or the Sumi and it's no sacrifice at all as they go forward now in this bronze medal matchup prisilla gagy showing the cleaner work but the aggression certainly coming from the Argentine Corner yes good mix this they're both decided that they want to come out here and it's for a paralympic medal looking for the ground work looking for the opportunity here and you know that's the good uh a good sign from somebody who really wants the groundwork because they hunt they become the Hunter and they search for it they search for the neck they search for the arm she might have the neck no she was across the face referee was right on it right over it if you're across the face the the referee will call me matte [Applause] immediately and it is that pause that matate means what it means to both is that we're into the business end now of this bronze medal match up they become one again gripping up looking for that grab around the caller there well it's left against right and oh look nice as she was it didn't quite get the landing Good Foot movement there from KAG and it's so interesting you see that Neil as we watch the referee separate them and stand them up again your eyes get drawn to the arms because there's so much going on in the upper body but for those new to Judo obviously the feet the placement important the feet placements absolutely imperative and especially J1 you know with these they it's it's a lot of it is on feel and they use the feet to feel where the opponent is sometimes the the foot movement will work as a major technique they'll block it sometimes the blocks are better than the actual sweeping action uh sweeping is a feel more of a movement into it and uh so that's why they use the Sassi movements and the Yoko gak is more sticky feet of the sasai but trying to stick some points on the board so far coming forward again paa Karina Gomez yes good combination oh lovely combination there by gag and takes the wazari for it well I'm not sure if it was COI Gary oi or it's oi COI but we'll have a look at that back in slow motion it was a lovely combination with the feet so we were talking about that earlier about feeling just feeling where and then she went the opposite to the opposite leg prisilla gag that misdirection still a couple of minutes though PA Kino Gomez to come back into this but you just get the feeling that it's beginning to the pendulum is swinging to the Canadian Corner yeah and we have seen it go against the pendulum you know it does happen sometimes it goes against the Run of play but uh she's certainly doing everything right in this [Applause] contest in Montreal they'll be cheering her on for sure Priscilla's Precision so far making the difference [Applause] mraa trying to give some encouragement you have to work you have to work the call from the coach yeah this is the time they get their information how to change it sometimes you have to change the game a little bit as well you can't follow the same route all the time the left-handed stance of G definitely causing her problems that's it that's the second weri I think that was a second wasi that uh movement back there they're going to have a look at the uh on the television screens they will the and uh I think that Andre sadz thinks it was too I think she got the landing we're just we're going to know now the supervisors and the referee commission are looking at it at this very moment here to think to see if it's all over so will it be one more wasar one more Half Point pointing the way to the podium again for Priscilla gagy from Canada silver last time out in Tokyo this time she's waiting on the video review JY a little point there from the referee wasi G now for Argentinas paa Karina Gomez uh I'm not sure if was given yes you're right so uh we obviously didn't see the landage she obviously turned that and got the wazari back so that'll be interesting to have a look at that back and that was uh that was really uh a narrow line there it really was well I thought that uh and that's why we have the video referee of course you know that the video referee picks it up H it sometimes can be just a small change with the hands or a change of Direction with the body and you redirect it and so it it the score changes that's what happened there the change in media from Pao Karina Gomez gagy trying to get that momentum back again good attempt from the well I don't think she had enough hand control there it was very close it was if she' had two hands on it would have been a definite score now looking for the strangle looking for the shimi waza and look trying to get the leverage here can she get it can she get the leverage you'll see the hand come up if it's on and it's not quite there as instead the referee's hand that comes up separates them mentioned the leverage before of getting that leg into position looked like a strong effort but we're into the last minute now and of course Pao Kina Gomez W she's going for it isn't she Gomez putting up a great fight [Music] here know that fighting Spirit be rewarded the grip up now into the last business end now yes away they go and now off well she came right the way round her opponent there and again looking for the Nea looking for the groundw and this is a great chance again for gagy just the fact that she's on her there and she wants it so badly looking for the arm this time she hasn't quite got it the wrong balance well from the exhausted pile on the mat they have to get back up and go again waiting at the end of this 25 seconds or so a possible par Olympic bronze also the possibility of the golden [Music] score yes and I said that sometimes when you take chances and it it backfired didn't it on on gnate she she just got turned otherwise she would have uh won the Medal already but uh still this could go either way so she has to be a little bit cautious but I don't think cautious is in a [Applause] repertoire well we saw a great uh uh example there of of just a little bit more leeway just on the edge for the for the J One don't push me cuz I'm close to the edge and with a couple of seconds to go po Karina Gomez has edged her way back into this one she is exhausted her Argentine judoka in the white Judo GE well this is where they've got to dig deep now that two seconds will go it will go into golden score any score then will win it and I don't think it will go long into golden score well the crowd know that's where we're headed and the big gong signals exactly that they'll be grip back up in the center and Ne penalties count in this instance or not uh three penalties it has to be the same has to be three penalties one penalty won't do it it won't be enough so three penalties or any score T times now bronze medal in the offing as they grip up will it be for the final time yes gagy again dominating the grips has to make sure that it's a strong attack if it's not she will pay the [Applause] price try to make a pay that price as Priscilla here in Paris but she knows the route to the podium does the Canadian H Kino Gomez again sprawling on the mat how much energy is left every time you get back up from here Neil exhausting well all groundwork exchanges take a lot out of you if you're attacking it takes a lot out of you and if you're underneath it's it's really disconcerting because the lights and and knowing where you are and can you imagine for these athletes so much more difficult exactly right in the J1 category these are BL athletes but it's blinding Brilliance so far from both Argentina and Canada cannot be separated as they're gripped up once more oh not far off didn't have the hands on again a good technique there but just didn't quite have two hands on [Music] this is the moment to go for the attack there's the call from the coach in the corner gaha well certainly the coach's instructions for Priscilla gag will be very precise and he won't wanted to take chances but he won't want to just to defend either loic over the motion not as they both go for this golden score yeah well again no hands there for the counter but again there we saw that Gomez willing to take a chance I think this is going to be a mistake uh one of them will just make a small mistake and it will be a small score that will take it tiredness has to be a factor as well I know a lot of Canadians that going to be screaming at the screen at this very moment there's a few in Merlo as well in Argentina equally imploring but who can get the scoring done a minute gone in the golden score yes just decides to abandon than that and like you said before it's it's all about the who can dig deep now because they're both tired physically it's hard but mentally it's hard as well par Olympic Games bronze medal match a lot at stake Stakes are high the fans in the stands doing their best [Applause] so two full feet went out there and I think uh referee has to decide as to whether it's going to be dangerous for the fighters certainly highway to the danger zone now the little Shido [Music] given so something to do with the kumata there the Shido given to [Music] gag that was directly out wasn't it there that was uh more of a direct movement out there possibility that could be Gomez this time decided to let it flow no Shido on the board Karina poo Gomez tries to drive our coach just a couple of seconds ago said this is your moment you have to go but now into the sixth minute of overall gripping up in this one yes well always a very clever fighter and uh somebody who uh you just couldn't afford to make one single mistake otherwise he'd jump all over it and I remember that very very well we laugh about it now who's going to be smiling at the end of this both tapping away their ankles gag oh not far off and you mentioned it before Neil a possibility of a mistake now it's getting into that territory of almost exhaustion because this is the maximal effort there's nothing left in the tank now this is just habits this is what's left in the tech isn't it it's is all all about uh muscle memory and that little uh bit of extra training that you did this is where it comes [Applause] in you can't coach desire they're both champions in that regard prilla gagy par Olympic silver medalist last time out Karina Paulo Gomez her chance to get her first ever Paro Olympic medal no still wasn't quite there now going for the strangle again just not enough momentum and that's why the catch and the momentum is is really important you need to catch it on the move once they stabilize and their weight goes out it's much more difficult to catch [Music] them the element of surprise gone as Andre sadit looks on stay calm stay calm is the call from the coach from Argentina still looks fresh Priscilla gagy [Music] just again going just directly towards the [Applause] edge not quite sure now say I'm so sorry on the way through prilla gagy don't see that very often do you with a a match for par Olympic uh medal and uh they're being lovely to each other they it's a couple of times they've had little interactions and of course we see it as a sporting contest but the dignity and the grace when you're constantly gripped up with someone working away this is their Ambitions against each other fought each other as well before all that history who can make history now no it wasn't quite there it was very very close there there was an elbow out there it has to be the side of the body that makes contact it wasn't quite there coaches say yeah he's going nearly so close imagine you've done your hardest workout at the gym and says right let's go and do it again this is what this feels like pushing it to the absolute limits both Gomez and gagnet [Music] second Shido for Canada yeah she's got to throw caution to the win now I think she's got to take a chance we have seen the aggression from Karina poo Gomez the defensive Mastery from prilla gagy down the stretch we go gagne's got to do something she did I thought that was hers but whether it got a landing or not [Applause] uchimata well they'll have a look to see who started the technique and then they'll decide on that if if her opponent Gomez started the technique then they'll probably just let it go and if not gagy if she started the technique the uchimata will count if she got the landing but they're having a look at it they they are having a look so again when when two people kind of hit the ground at the same time now they've decided to let it go it's not enough so video reviewed yes who's going to check the tape after this one to be the bronze medalist trying to come forward again Priscilla gagy was just forced into the mat now yeah well it was gagy that went for it but uh it was easily squashed there by Gomez certainly the longest contest we've seen all day today it shows exactly what a par Olympic bronze medal means here in the Judo you've got to work hard if you want to compete it's like that and that's the way it is here in this golden score opportunity oh no no no that's exactly what she doesn't want to do that she has to take her opponent with her she has to make sure she's gried up with two shidos on the board not a good place to be those two yellow cards hanging against the Canadian yes they are and she's going to get it so she loses it on that so that was really yes so the Argentine has won it Gomez wins it the crowd are not too happy about it yeah but those booze will give way to bronze Priscilla gagy has been on the podium before as a silver medalist from Canada paa Karina Gomez we saw a lovely Embrace there between the two coaches and Adams they're going to embrace here because there was nothing left in the tank for either of them at all no and she threw it away and she she knows it she will know it and uh Andre sad will tell her that you know just to attack with no hands on whatsoever is an immediate Shido uh penalty and when you've got two on the board and you pointed it out that's not the thing to go but the major moment now prisilla gagy concedes by way of Shido penalties and the moment now for pina Karina Gomez the 39y old from Merlo in Argentina she's been around the podium in every single major par Olympic Games seventh World Championship fifth now she's on the podium as a par Olympic Games bronze medalist shaking with delight couldn't have given any more richly rewarded with the bronze that was the uh double attack there from gagy that was the one that came back there from Gomez and then it was that technique there with no hands on that got the third Shido for Priscilla gagne of Canada brilliant sportsmanship as you would expect but uh look at that this is what the gamees is all about [Applause] F opposing coaches Embrace embracing the big occasion there for Argentina paa Karina Gomez with the bronze that completes the bronze medal contest as we turn our attentions now to the final this gold medal match up between the People's Republic of China's Shi against the USA's lyanna mutaya and here she comes shiu the 24y old from Chena the's of China and on the way into this one with our coach leeu all smiles just unbelievable isn't it all smiles coming in but who's going to be smiling coming out J The Call for team China to fight to go for [Music] it representing the United States of America 2022 World Championship Bron medalist Mata Lana Mata the Stars and Stripes flying born in the Philippines now by way of Philadelphia can she got off to a flyer in this one Ed lydy the American coach and uh former Olympic bronze medalist Los Angeles quite handy to have in your corner and they'll be audible in terms of their instructions this of course the J1 category if you're just joining is for parro Judo for the first time welcome this the final the women's under 57 kg 4 minutes to decide oh it's a wasi it's a wazari it wasn't quite on the back there what an opener that was Sosi CI starts off just drives downwards there and she opens up the count in seconds see you see Nagi almost see you later because that was in one goal there it was hadn't even finished introducing her name no I know it was and that's how it happens you know they she took her immediately there hopefully she can just uh take heed with that just be a little bit more cautious now with this beginning for the People's Republic of China she g a perfect start here halfway to Victory Lana Mata now has to get her game in order yeah she tried the same there to attack immediately MAA shocked into being a little bit more cautious that's that's Judo you know it sometimes can take you by surprise certainly did there as we saw coming in the UA was all smiles the coach they obviously had something in the pocket and ready and the pocketed that first was Ari time plenty still for lyanna MATA to [Music] respond well I saw Eddie ldy in tears after the semifinal had a finalist in the Olympic Games L brought tears to his eyes and uh like I said the the coaches they get uh oh that was off the floor so that won't count if it comes off the floor it doesn't count it has to come from a standing [Music] position get a good hole and stick it get a good hole and stick it the call from the American coach tries to do just that but good defensive work sh youu G from the People's Republic of China she's got the game plan Rock Solid so far now she has she's got the game plan she knows what she wants and she doesn't mind going down to ground as well and uh she's just about uh managing to hold that off at the moment but not the best place to be on all fours it's never a defense whenever I had my uh my Fighters my full-time Fighters down there I said if you go on all fource to defend I'll shout for the other guy something that stuck with them for a long time there sticking with the task here from all fours to upstanding training for seven hours a day in the People's Republic of China so she's not going to get tired anytime quickly possibility here now as she got the strangle this is the situation we see so often there but uh it used to be well she didn't hear the matate it used to be that if you went across the face that you could get penalized but you mean across the face with the arm with the leg with with the jacket you know or or with your arm to try and get a strangle but um it made you go underneath the neck and aim for underneath the neck cuz otherwise you get penalized but now they've taken it away so you can just dive across if uh if it doesn't work it's mate nothing lost that's it oh what an nipon siosi and she went right the way over the top brilliant stuff oh look at that wow we've seen so much of this haven't we and she says well I got caught a biggest smile on the coach's face there all the coaches have got Smiles on their faces and that's what we want to see amazing so she came in smiling G ug for this People's Republic of China and she's going to leave likewise incredible moments super stuff from chenzo here to Paris she claims the title a silver medal as well for lyanna MATA they're obviously Pals and friends the referee just separating them just in case they got looking for any more scores this it would be terrible wouldn't it picked up an injury on the way out after I'd won the gold medal that was amazing stuff that was a great bit of Judo there shiu does it in style a waser she opens up with with a very low seosi and then she finishes it off absolutely taking her flat onto her back to become par Olympic [Applause] [Music] champion wow what control that was a great control on the arm as well there as she takes her down that's the second one there and that control on the arm was the difference between it being successful and not successful she had such good pulling action it's all about kazushi kazushi means breaking a balance and the hands started it off the hands finished it off and those hands will be on the gold for the People's Republic of China's she Yi wonderful moments Lanna mutaya also contributing mightily with a lovely silver Med and a lovely show of that sporting Spirit as the confirmation bronze for Ukraine and Argentina silver for the US and the People's Republic of China cug top of the pile and on top of the world here in Paris well breathless stuff the quality just keeps on in if you're new to par Judo my goodness you have timed it nicely because the standard has been absolutely electric it's been electric hasn't it we I mean for any kind of final block that uh ends with ions like that the main aim of our sport is to score up on and uh We've we've just been uh so lucky to have a a plethora of uh different ions all the way through and it's that pleora in Paris that'll be wed with a Podium the victory ceremony coming up in a few moments Neil and I are going to gather ourself maybe ly in a cool dark and room for a moment or a c yeah the speed calm ourselves down exactly the speed and the style we'll try to keep calm and we'll bring you those medals in just a few moments time stay with us because plenty more Judo to come as we shift our attention to the women's under 48 kgs G2 category and that is for those with a visual impairment G1 of course for completely blind athletes and as you can see the podium is in position the men's under 60 kgr gripping on their way again [Music] [Music] [Music] ladies and gentlemen the victory ceremony for the men's under 60 kg J1 please welcome The Medalist as we welcome the medalists now the victory ceremony in full swing and they were certainly swinging each other around the tatami and it's time for them to get their rewards [Applause] now great work done by the volunteers as well providing the accompaniment to the athletes to make sure they get up safely onto the podium it's safe to say that the Men's Under 60s my goodness today deliver we saw some amazing uh Judo didn't we it was uh truly a brilliant category but every category we've seen has been amazing I think you and I are going to have to buy a new dictionary and look up words that sound like amazing because we're running out of them already on day one the meds will Beed [Music] by the dignitaries RN possession [Music] [Music] [Music] referee rist representing India Cil [Applause] pal a Fain moments now capil kmer of India he will receive a hard one bronze medal [Music] a warm congratulations to him and his fedal bronze medalist Dennis Marcos Blanco of [Music] Venezuela I thought they were both of them fantastic in their bronze medal matches like you say we saw ions all the way through didn't we Point's rewarded just one more throw there that mascot gets it [Applause] that was Taya definitely the super souvenir that will live for many years in the memories of both men confirmation there ISL of [Music] well he's a big name in paraj Judo he's on to the big step now the world champion taking the silver medal here say missam F taba koram abadi contributed plenty to that final new yeah he did uh very well at the end as well I always look at people's reactions you know he he expected the gold medal nothing but the gold medal and he took it very very well congratulated his opponent and there's a smile there on the Rost him as well a smile to go with the Silvera but you can only have one Champion determined organized and professional say mam Baba [Music] abadi chener [Music] Abdul CAD bral from Algeria comes in as the underdog leaves as the champion he was he was the underdog for sure he didn't think he was and entertained the crowd as well and there's the rewards for that entertainment ABD K bu par Olympic champion richly deserved and a chance for him to enjoy the national anthem of [Applause] Algeria ladies and Gentlemen please stand if you are able for the anthem of Algeria [Music] la [Music] la [Music] Abdul Cal boom booming out the national anthem I always think you should get an extra prize for that there word for word perfect and he was wor Perfect all day today capital parar of India with the bronze likewise Marco Dennis Blanco for Venezuela thir mesan Baba kabadi with the silver for Iran ABD RAR Bu from Algeria back in alers I'm sure there'll be a few tiers the celebrations can be begin now for the champion yeah he was a he was celebrating wasn't he he came down towards us uh towards the commentary position and uh he was getting the crowd going what a crowd it is as well I have to say what an appreciative crowd and uh credit to them CU they are just magnificent everybody on their feet everybody enjoying it and they've been treated to uh some amazing k well you can be proud of your sport you can be proud of your medalist here Judo delivering magical moments in the shamp dear all four men contributing mightily to all of her enjoyment Standing [Applause] Ovation as they complete the final steps now down off the podium with the assistance of the volunteers with memories that will all through the years and that completes the victory ceremony for the mens under 60 kg they take their final lap around and to win these major titles and to do these final steps nothing better this is what it's all about isn't it and this is what you want when you're about to retire and you think one more time you know it's because it is a drug it's a drug it's something the adrenaline's there and it's the best moment of your life so you there's no other way of explaining it and no better way of explaining it the best moment of the lives there who can recreate those magic moments [Applause] now one more time we're going to celebrate will there be French celebrations at the end of the minus 48 kg in the women's division because that's where we're turning our attention in just a few moments [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] ladies gentlemen so here we go now the pre medal contest in the women's under 48 kg J2 category Ukraine's Julia Ians skaya coming out against the People's Republic of China's Lee Lee [Music] Jin it's already a gold medal in the bag China what a performance that was LE Jin add to that should certainly be hoping to standing in her way the formidable figure now of Julia Ians skaya a 35y old from in Ukraine what an ex uh what an experience she's got you know she's been to so many par Olympics I think two times uh par Olympic medalist before yeah couple of bronzes this is our fifth par Olympic Games can she add to that one China 2016 paric medalist Jing Le Jing leaping into the ring what can she do in this one the pan Olympic champion from Rio de Janeiro going up against a three-time bronze medalist so far couple of good wins against tury on the way through and there's the route for L Jen well both Fighters have been here before they know what it's all about and another medal here at stake concentration and there straight away in SE that a couple of times today as well straight in for the Tom and Aggie and straight in for the arm lock and you're not allowed to do them together you have to kind of separate them a little bit but uh I've seen them do it couple of times they just on the line really on the line wasn't a lot of Separation there yeah there wasn't a lot of Separation no and and what happens is sometimes you can fall onto your back the arm straight and then they they go onto the arm immediately now they can do it you're brand new to it is a 4minute round mat the call from the referee to stand them up yeah she won't be able to do it too often again unless she really breaks the balance of her opponent there possibility Shido it was once too [Applause] muching just conceding that Shido the yellow card penalty three of those and it is game over plenty game there Julia a SK trying to advance yes a SK doing the makikomi technique there dropping down sacrifice it's a winding sacrifice throw but you need the arm and that's why we saw Priscilla gagy when she tried it uh a little bit earlier she didn't have any hands with it so you need to make sure that you have the grip and the winding aspect over it is the winding is and a lot of the heavy weights do it more than the light weights uh but what'll happen is so rather than lifting somebody up she's got the arm here the arms oh no she gets the jujig gami she threatened that so many times didn't she she was down there she was looking for the arm and uh she managed to get it there and secure the arm lock well from the winding efforts the long and winding road to the bronze it was that initial technique Le Jing tried to go for it early and seems to be a little bit of an injury there for Julia iin skaya of course to the pride as well yeah she defended it and and you know there's a a very thin line sometimes you defend it sometimes you can just wiggle the arm out and you think well there's a bronze medal at stake here I'm going to defend it just that little bit and it's just sometimes that little bit too long Jing loed that one up there was not letting it go landed on the arm lands the bronze medal as well and as you mentioned for the People's Republic of China a very good day indeed excellent and and two medals so close together Li Jing would have seen her teammate win the gold medal that would have inspired her look at that she was on to the arm she was on the arm she was searching for it there and in the end she had to submit and that double tap there along with the Pat in the back for team Ukraine Julia Ians has three par Olympic medals Le Jing adds one to her own for the People's Republic of [Music] China Isabel T against kah from [Music] Turkey from bam in Germany the 25y old Isabel tell here she comes on the way into this [Applause] one an ambition was just to qualify for this par Olympic game games a sports science student from R University in bam Germany can she graduate with a bronze anxious to get in there the 24y old from Carman back in [Applause] tury and halan fmle the coach in the corner doing well just to make sure that she didn't run off into the night there she was sprinting in so Keen to get on with it yeah sometimes they do that don't you see them they they run in they they're ready to go and for me I was always thinking am I going to make the platform I'm not going to make it up there without my legs buckling trying to make sure that your opponent didn't see it but yes yeah we can see clearly now they grip up in the center a 4minute round throw them onto the back for Eon onto the side like so decent start Yoko toosi just side sacrifice throw oh this is a really open Match here they just uh decided right let's get game on you know it's nice because sometimes you see it's like watching two Titans come out and they think you know you you know something's going to happen you certainly do and we're glad to have your expert analysis Neil Adams of course world champion in double Olympic silver medalist among many illustrious moments but spotting the big moments here in this par Olympic Games bronze medal trying to dig that leg in between yes and has to feel it because this is this is J1 and j1's can't see it all so they have to feel it with other with other aspects of the uh the attack either that or they Counterattack a lot of counterattacks as well oh great change of Direction what a change of direction that was came in forwards just swept the inside leg there drove backwards with the kiaki and what an ipon what an ipon and lots to love here in the city of love gives out the big heart to the fans Big Hearted entrance she was in at full speed kahak and speeding her way to Victory there kahaki then was well she just she was open from the very beginning and you knew something was going to happen and I said to you didn't I I said there something is going to happen here I'll give you your due credit as we give the credit now to the bronze medal the winner here from Turkey before we came on here you pointed at this match up and said this is going to win and this is how they're going to win and that's exactly what we've just seen there yes all action there's the cagy there's the change of Direction Direction Just reaped onto that inside leg there she knew exactly where the inside leg was because she was right the way between the legs then she drove backwards there and it was the hands that polishes it off wow what a technique what an hion and what a moment reaps the leg and reaps the reward turkey joining People's Republic of China on the podium with bronze [Music] now we've had a perfect day at the Judo amarel Nach of Kazakhstan will be trying to stop that perfect day for sandrin mtin of France her opportunity now will she be the headwoman in this [Music] one sadin Martin has to go against Aral Nat the 25-year-old world champion Asian para Champion as well and she comes in in this fine form can she top the French flags from flying trying to lift the roof off of the Sha dear wow [Applause] well if there was a medal handled out for the biggest year sandre Martine would be the recipient of that one are six Paro Olympic Games now yes and of course being at home NE this adds a little extra flavor absolutely but notc is one of those uh with that great stand up posturing as well and it's going to cause martinette all sorts of problems here and martinette I remember from four years back like you said so much experience she's going to need it here away they go three silver medals and a gold at the par Olympic Games for the French jidoka in blue the world champion she's in white and on the night here in the Sham deals as we know Neil Adams anything can and anything will happen anything can happen right and well she's fighting the whole crowd as well look at that beautiful asy was that and nbec has looked absolutely incredible all the way through the today uh with great throwing skills great posturing and like I said before I love the posturing because it's so upright and actually it has the opposite effect to being bent over because it gives so many opportunities if you could defend with the hips and she seems to have a a sick sense as to where the legs are oh look at that counter attack as well now looking for the naaza gone on to the arm she has the arm she'll go again on that arm she's not finished yet she is now the referee cosmati stands them up the French fans hands over their mouths hearts in their mouth akaro not to Big living up to the big billing here at the world champion looking fresh and ready Martine really pushing now it's when uh John when they get out there Martine it's gripped up with her and gone oh something else here there's something uh on you know that's uh a foot actually she'll have to be careful she knows she's got to be C cautious I don't know quite what they're looking at have to be cautious it may be a caution a Shido possibility the video review been given concerns now and wazari is given the score yes so [Applause] wazari so wazari given to [Applause] nck we'll have a look a little bit later as to what how it's scored it's the landing they scored but uh it's not over yet yeah halfway to Victory now for Kazakhstan akar Al NC has the opportunity still 3 minutes left for sandin [Applause] Martine see the stance there you know the stance the defense the defense is coming from the hips not from the arms which means the body is in the right [Applause] place and that upright stance she mentioned that obviously you need to be very brave and strong have to be trained in it you can't just stand up and have if you're trained to defend with the HPS and they don't teach enough of that now in in the uh clubs how to defend with the hips a lesson to be learned the hips don't lie the hits don't lie either wiar on the board for kazakhstan's akal as they both separate a little bit more defensive tries to reap in with the leg but no reward yeah she's so experienced I mean she's she's not going to give up on their SE easily but uh both the Tachi Wasa standing and on the ground here she's she's just being molded and nottock is taking the fight to her and she's not finished yet and she might still get it so if she could tie up the top half here then she'll have to get the leg out she'll have to change the wether right leg is the right leg will have to change it's in the wrong position and a precarious position sandre to go again this is not over yet if she Ties That arm off now she'll turn it into the hold down she just needs to hook in and now she'll come up on top and the referee then shouts oai comei and she's holding her down and she's got her in the hold down here Norbeck then shows us that she can do it on the ground as well and look at that 10 seconds only needed and she is the new paralympic Champion great Judo standing and on the ground and she was hunting that all the time and speaking of time sine Martine will take the silver in front of this passionate crowd here in the Sha dears but the time of her life the moment they for Amaral n you mentioned it she came in standing up tall so stand tallest on the podium body language tells it doesn't it they come in and you could kind of see it on them there you know I'm expecting to win the gold medal here the presence in Paris Amaral takes that gold the silver medal again sandre Martine in her six par Olympic Games adds another medal and the French fans I'm sure will be delighted not just with the overall performance but the result in the end the best judoka winning clearly amarel nck and Neil Adams she has been by far the best all day yeah she she was the best and she came out and anything can happen we know that don't we Anything Can Happen out there and it can go PE shap very quickly but it it wasn't going to you know nor toet came out she expected the gold medal there was the wazari it was a hand assisted uh Tay waza and then she not only throws her for a weri but then she takes her to the ground and says I can do it down here as well outstanding moments Anin IED in the coach as well delighted that Amaral taking the title silence in the crowd just for a couple of seconds I'm sure back in aana they'll be cheating her on there confirmation as the champion now B Amaral delivering incredible value here and the quality just keeps on coming bronze for turkey and China sandre Martin with his over for France Kazakhstan akar Al da the very best by a long long [Music] way well following from this we'll have the opportunity to enjoy the victory ceremonies as the fighters enjoy their moments in front of the fans Victory ceremony on its way in just a few moments [Applause] I [Applause] [Applause] up [Music] the all [Music] ladies and gentlemen Cy for Wom well on day one and J1 in the under 57s you can probably hear a few cheers there'll be a few more now in the victory [Music] [Applause] ceremony with all the pageantry and all the pleasantries in Paris it's time now for the medals to get handed out to those who deserve it the most [Music] [Applause] and of course the joy of all the par Olympic games of some familiar faces and plenty of new faces as well Neil I think that you always get that don't you Olympic Games you know it can be the um making of a star new star you get the ones that return the ones that return return uh you know do a coup of their in their third sometimes their fourth and we've seen somebody in their fifth Olympic Games wow absolutely 16 P Olympic Games for France but of course first time now for the Medalist and a first time champion in her first games [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] representing Argentina Carla Karina Gomez from Argentina up on the third spot receiving her bronze medal and my goodness me she had to dig it out super spirit and super combination as she receives that bronze medal congratulations to her felis DZ for Argentina and for [Applause] [Applause] [Music] Angela h of Ukraine with the corresponding bronze magical moments for po Karina Gomez richly deserving like you said it had to dig deep didn't she she really did dig deep and that's the longest contest of the day for sure that's right into the golden score round the extra time bonus and they're having their time and their moment Angelina hav of Ukraine W of bronze as [Music] well and B moments as well Lanna from the USC yes a terrific performance and and took it so well and it was lovely to see wasn't it just the uh camaraderie up there gold medal match and they were both uh both smiling at the end there every they saw she was elated with that super silver medal forcing her way onto the podium and into the final And the emotions come now Lana [Music] [Applause] mataya silver medal in the women's under 57 kilg the mataya but when it came to the final the very best andp champion representing the People's Republic of China sh you beaming with pride one big step up and a huge step up as the Paran Olympic champion incredible performance another incredible performance it really was in control those two siosi techniques that she did were so tight with the upper part of the body there the kazushi everything worked well the breaking of balance the control all the way through and H in the end not only a wasar but an [Applause] [Applause] ion Shu from the People's Republic of China is the par Olympic champion [Music] ladies and Gentlemen please stand if you are able for the anthem of the People's Republic of China [Music] M sh you on song all day and on song on the podium magical moments in the Sha deals for the People's Republic of China as all four medalists take their claim bronze for paa Karina Gomez of Argentina Angela a likewise for Ukraine Lanna mutaya from the USA with the silver she she was the best and she is the champion I've joined us not just for the medal ceremonies but J1 means uh totally blind that these judoka have absolutely performed just so incredibly well and we've seen what this sport is all about with uh some many ions and so many magic moments and J1 on day one delivering in the under 57 [Applause] kg well they went head-to-head on the tatami they leave arm in arm from the podium magical moments and the spirit of the sport richly on show there yeah I think that's one of the the best things about this whole paralympic games is their spirit that we've seen has been just uh well just beautiful it's what our Sports all about but uh it it just well exemplified exactly what it does mean and what it does mean then is that in the books goes the victory ceremony and if you fancy a little bit more Judo well you're in the right place we're moving towards the men's under 60 kilogram the final category here on day number one a brace of bronzes to be sided and then brace yourself for the final it's on its way in just a few moments [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] you [Music] time now for the men's under 60 kgam the J2 category between Brazil and Algeria too Marquez de Silva against ishak and J2 of course a visual impairment rather than full blindness that's the two categories J1 and J2 [Music] [Music] ladies and gentlemen for the [Applause] [Music] [Music] contest representing Brazil 2022 Marquez silgo Marquez D Silva can he make his Mark here from Paras just out of s [Music] Paulo his second part Olympic games isak ok from B back in Algeria what can he do as he makes his par Olympic debut hether ludan from Belgium in charge of proceedings here of course it's been a good day already for Algeria and that will have spread through the team it will have spread through the team without a doubt and you know you you see a teammate do it and you think well I I want a little bit of that you know there's a chance for him to go for bronze here this works a little bit no a bit different but uh you'll find that these have just got partial sight makes it just a slightly different balance but saying that you can't get any better what we've just seen he's onto the arm he's on the arm now then can he get it straight that arm is coming out here he's just trying to just managed to hold that off well from me saying that uh well we haven't seen any arm locks and then now we've seen about uh five six or seven haven't we it's just been amazing yeah you've been inundated cly been treated to real quality here if you're brand new to the sport parudo 4minute match objective to throw the opponent onto the back for the Eon or indeed get a submission as we have seen so far the attempts Diego Marquez de Silva well they will be a little bit tighter on the edge with these so Jo guy will mean Jo guy come to the center come towards the center stay within the yellow area strangle here he's looking for the shimy waza has he whipped it underneath the neck yes he has can he get the leverage yes he can and he catches it really really well he was looking for that searching it out and he got it and he had to send his body forward there to get the leverage and even you John you went yes he's he's good could you could see that he'd actually whipped the jacket around the neck there he looked for it and he got it he surely did Ne he's going to whip the bronze medal around it as well because ishak okia got that submission he dug that right in there there was no escaping no he whipped it underneath the neck and you know it's what I was saying about going across the face and looking for the neck it's difference brilliant great transition well he had the arm around the neck for the submission he'll have the bronze medler around his neck as well he udia doing the business for Algeria and what has been an excellent day for team [Applause] Algeria TGO Marcus to Silva not far away with that arm loock either no well he he he did the uh Tom and Agy the stomach throw into the jiami he was a bit close a couple of times with the immediate uh attack onto the arm but uh he couldn't get rid of this could he look at that throws the hits forwards now gets The Leverage catches the leg and gets the submission he had no way out of that only one thing left to do now for ishak UD is to take that bronze medal great performance and a great start now to the men's under 60 kg G2 category and who can join him on the board will it be Ukraine will it be the Republic of [Applause] [Music] Korea David kova against EJ Ukraine against Korea [Music] two time world champion par Olympic champion as [Music] well David corova has his work cut out in this one the man from Ravine back in [Music] Ukraine the and EJ is on his way cig Bart will run the rule over this one and Neil lots to look forward to in terms of the style matchup well it's it is different styles and it's interesting that you should say that about the different styles and kurava well so experienced and I think Lee will get hold of him and I think there'll be a difference in kind of power base here we'll have a look as soon as they grip up kava will go to the side and go for yokoi waza have you watched this before yeah also The Stance here of the Korean will suit it simply because the the right leg is forward and uh that will be the leg that he'll go for I thinka so he has an uchimata one side to the left and then he has a change of direction there's a good change of Direction and gets the wasi for it m will be thinking what do I do here to quell the storm his coach is telling him you've got plenty of time calm down see Mano which means you've got lots of time David kava he's been in this position plenty of time before times hasn't he it's the change of direction that is going to really mess up Lee cuz he reacts to the forward technique and then leaves himself open that forward technique is d dangerous and then the change of Direction all the time is what's uh very difficult for Lee difficulties for the referee as well to keep them in the confines of the the yellow Center I almost think it's it's part of the game plan here for karaba so he'll come off with him he'll come to the side and then he'll suddenly change it because he'll get a reaction as he shouts Jo Lee will pull inside and then he'll change the direction for it some frustration straight away for eing J hasn't had all his own way at all he doesn't know what quite what to do with him does he a Shido penalty there for not attacking he's not the one initiating changing from right to left stance left to right should I say if it's working for you don't change it although he will he'll still be going over that uh right leg of Lee I think that will do it David kava showing all that experience again dragging over to the side oh look he's got it wasi wasti upon and it was a a beautiful counter there he was in command all the way through I said that Leeman Jay will be thinking what do I do with this you know and the body language again you know as soon as you grip up you kind of know that uh I've got a a mountain to climb and at the top of that mountain David kava taking the bronze medal richly deserved eing J just couldn't find a way and as you see there the David kurava all that experience and adds yet more quality couple of bronze medals now in the books for him took the par Olympic tto back in London 2012 12 years later still on the podium and still performing you know so when they're they're a Whole Decade in look at that that's the change of Direction yet again he changed the Direction first and then changed it again uh but it was the hands again that finished that off and like you said over a decade later still performing at the very highest level and that's what shows true CH true champion and I think he well Neil we know in Combat Sports sometimes you figure out the answer as we see the confirmation there of the e j will be going back on the flight to Korea thinking what could I have done differently there because it's the reality the speed the strength the smarts of his opponent first time out at the par Olympic Games and you you know when you grip up with somebody who's that Superior it is you think well how what can I do here to get better and I I thought that it was the power base probably that uh he was lacking well there be nothing like now as we move towards the final the men's under 60 kgam matchup between usbekistan sherod Nam the man from [Applause] bukara par Olympic champion in Rio a few fans in his stands as well for him [Music] [Applause] nice to see Smiles on their faces as they come out of that tunnel there it's nice to see embracing the big occasion as hirano hyoku Center referee in this one sh out Nam of his path through to the final fully focused now likewise zurab zurani the 24y old as that world championship bronze medal has the pan Olympic Games experience but he's going up against a par Olympic champion from back in Rio and this one set up nicely and he's on good form as well he's he's back to the kind of form that he had in Rio namas of so uh this will be really interesting he also goes off to the side think Yoko satm a big side techniques side sacrifice and he goes off the sleeve as well so that right sleeve there the left hand grip it's not uh it's not it's to set himself up on the opposite [Applause] side Rabani it' be best not to go with the flow here so wherever he wants in to go best not to go [Applause] there there beautiful dasi barai kurashi and he takes him onto his side there for a wazari beautifully executed and that's why I would say don't go with the flow into the danger zone he goes an on side rather than his back if he had been in his back it could have been all over namazov shares all that experience and quality living up to the archetype of Judo smaller in stature but bigger in skills can he find one more score to take the par Olympic title be second Paro Olympic CH title won't it and a few years apart which will be remarkable that wasn't far off there he had almost paid the price there zabani decided that it was time to start a move now then can he get this is he on the arm he's not quite didn't quite have it for panic stations there zurani just remaining that he's still live in this contest for the goldov well they looked very very relieved there escaping gets his arm out as they grip up again it was pelic wasn't it big time haven't heard Panic stations for a few years but that was it it was but next up on this station who's going to have the gold both men back on track in the center no love loss with these leg I was going to say Taps but they're certainly putting plenty into it yes sometimes it can be without movement but the first Ashi was that we saw was with movement good attacking Judo from both of [Music] these and again he unsettles him Coach is saying you got to settle down a little bit here think about what you're doing because this is when you have to play a an intelligent match here is a wasar up he can't be passive but he also doesn't need to uh take massive chances he mentioned the importance of his coach in the corner he's also a coach himself back at the bukara State University and has got himself a little bit of running repairs here we're just looking off to the right doesn't seem to be too much wrong just a bit of medical intervention I think it's just a little bit of blood and they have to make sure that the blood is Wild Well Blood Sweat and Tears required concentration now pivotal for sherod namozov and it's so interesed now you keep mentioning that the ability to drag off to the one side to you never do footwork with someone that's good at footwork you never punch with a puncher You Never Wrestle with a Grappler try and keep their strengths away from them and to be fair to zurani he's he's really had a go at it yeah well this what I say about playing an intelligent contest in is that you you look at something and you think well that's not working for me I've got to change this I've got to adapt to what's happening here to give myself a chance I think the score is going to come here now there I think that quite often when you have a a little bit of a break they come back to the middle they've reset they've thought about what they're going to do and normally from the uh beginning again we see a big [Music] [Applause] attack is that a bani oh not far big reaching Oto there just managed to climb off that and that aoto GAR is on the outside of the leg it was right on the outside and sometimes s if they brace to it and you change the direction it turns into what they call an ashy Guma so uh it's if you reach and catch the leg you have to make sure that you catch the knee and you stop the knee from uh moving otherwise they can rotate throw you with the same technique so you have to catch it especially against opposite stance [Music] opposite stands but no chance so far zurab zurani has been expansive and aggressive not been anything to score on the board he needs an attack he's going to get penalized otherwise might just get penalized now as well for that namazov definitely in defensive move mode and he does pick up the penalty picking up the penalty but trying to pick up the pace down the stretch now the Georgian need to score no time yes he's explosive as well he could do it he it's possible for him to throw he's been throwing big all day as well what a great final to finish on very tactical a little bit tactical and uh still plenty of opportunities for scoring car Judo on day one delivering a bit of everything coming to a fit and close the drops on AGI not enough hold there let's go of it sometimes you can have an attack for an attack you know just to get an attack in and he'll be looking at the clock there it be the longest minute ever just to look busy yeah and it's the referee's job of course to differentiate between what is looking busy what's an actual attack what's a false attack [Applause] what's the reality is now we're less than a minute to decide oh ni change of direction coari that uh Action Reaction there pulls forwards as if he's going to go forwards and then suddenly changes the direction to the back I don't think he finished yet still 45 seconds to go still a possibility of a second score cagi kosaki cagi two changes of Direction but they were good attacks they were good enough he's got to be careful of this arm because this arm could be the end oh it's gone out oh he's got it juji katami and he's got it and he had to be careful of the arm there and that went against the Run of play didn't it there he made a mistake but zabani there with a beautiful bit of naaza takes the par Olympic title well he surely does with 20 seconds to go he was down and out there's going to be a video review as is the right of the coach to ask for it I'm sure the par Olympic champion from Rio 8 years ago they're taking it off they're going to take off that Eon so it was worth to do Shido G yes for fingers inside the jacket so he's still now from being par Olympic champion now or supposedly because he executed the jujig gami with the fingers inside the jacket it means that he gets a penalty and not the ipon and so he could still win the par Olympic title [Applause] now uchimata so close has a look at the clock 7 Seconds to go oh coaches shouting five seconds oh dear me so a bit of drama to finish off this first day of [Music] [Applause] competition and he's done it again he he's paralympic Champion again and well certainly there's disbelief in the stadium there namazov can't believe that he got second chance zabani will be looking at that thinking why why fingers in why did I do it a desperation for zurab zurani it's going to be silver for the Georgian Shar oov they've shared every motion there back and forth he was the champion it was it he wins it back again and the man from usbekistan from Tashkent to Paris sealed with a kiss and the crowd and the passionate fans from usbekistan they really really have been through every single emotion here and along with Neil Adams we've been through every single bit of quality and it's almost befitting that it was just one set of fingertips in the wrong place and that's what these athletes have had to do all day they have had to grip up correctly they've had to look for options to score and in the end it was just turning those tables sherod namazov had almost lost it but you know what the problem was the problem was the technique that he was doing was facing the referee the referee saw it there was the Ashi waza and here's the juji katami and to get the arm out he went inside the jacket but did it on the side that the referee could see him the referee was staring down at him so I mean if you're underneath and you do it it's a different thing but if you're facing the referee there the referee sees it the referee was a bit unfortunate no bit unfortunate could tried everything in his powers and Beyond zurab zurani from Georgia had moments but the moment of magic now for the two-time Paro Olympic champion sherod namazov as he shares the moment with his coach and my goodness me we can almost take a breath here the gold medal contest confirmed and all the athletes will be up to get their medals in a few moments time but in the mens under 60 kilograms sherard namazov he's actually now signing a few autographs and few moments with his fans and friends as well my goodness me Neil Adams par Judo day one I don't know if I can cope with another day of that we got two more days to go that was incredible yeah and I think you just said there we we have John experienced so many emotions so many different methods of winning you know and actually not so much tactics but the tactics did come in to a certain degree but we've seen some massive ipon throws all different directions we've seen hold Downs arm locks we've seen strangles it's been magnificent jiger oo would be proud all the way back from the Founding Father of the sport to this moment here and as Neil Adams tells us every single style every single method of Victory and every single athlete will be in your view in just a few moments time as we move towards the victory ceremonies on day number one stay with us for the medals they're coming soon ch spe [Music] ladiesent so on day one it's the J2 category now and the women's under 48 kg category the the medist getting a warm welcome of course particular interest for France as well but globally turkey the People's Republic of China France and Kazakhstan the best four on the day and helping each other in just they got such a great response from everybody as they came in they were head-to-head for the most of it arms on shoulders as they find their positions perfectly for the podium for their big moments here at the par Olympic Games the meds will be Pres Vice of the French [Music] Department by [Applause] [Music] chinaa of turkey and Lee liing take their step up now onto the third spot on the podium [Music] and we'll take their bronze medals as well we saw the reaction if you saw earlier on from khaha was absolutely elated had worked so hard for this par Olympic bronze medal and Le leing likewise for the People's Republic of China as they receive the warm ofation they're also going to receive the mascots now yes from Terry Ray Terry Ray was one of the first that led the way for us uh in 1979 he won the World Championships here in France uh and he was 19 years of age when he did it and he beat one of the Japanese greats then he became Olympic champion and uh so that's an honor for them to receive from such a great Champion it's speaking up V champions s Martine enjoying her moment here and the Sha dears six par Olympics almost getting the gold medal there take the silver Instead This tap yes she got rapturous Applause didn't she they absolutely playing the crowd and why not absolutely deserves it conducted herself with great dignity all day in an illustrious career conducting the crowd as well here in the Shawn Demars sandine Martin six par Olympics and a silver here in her host nation when it came to the final you can only have one champion [Music] Champion representing kakan and an equally warm Ovation for akar Al naab she was pure class and I just love the way she came out she was so confident knew exactly what she wanted and uh she was the Chaser as well down in NASA she did the standing she did the ground she was an all over judoka we're going to see a lot more of as well I'm going to see lots more over with this par Olympic gold medal as well the champion from Kazakhstan akar Al n moments to save [Applause] her ladies and Gentlemen please stand if you are able for the anthem of Kazakhstan la la [Music] kazakhstan's akad Al has her moment as the par Olympic champion richly deserved and the single tier straight down her face she was singularly superb all Daya E from tury with bronze lee la Jing likewise for the People's Republic of China sandrin Martine from the host nation a host of expectations but the Champion by far the best wonderful scenes new just wonderful scenes and uh the crowd really appreciating it and you you're right n she got great Applause from this really appreciative crowd and a big bite of the mandal it's actually made partly from the Eiffel Tower which is just about what would you see 200 M away from where we are not that far away that's for sure we are in the best Stadium situated in the uh Shamar and the Shamar Gardens have a history don't they they used to be used for uh military purposes for parades and things like that and then over a 100 years ago they used to be Orchards believe it or not well I certainly believe it is the final March now towards that Eiffel Tower through those beautiful gardens bearing great fruit here akel NAIC at her core she is the par Olympic champion richly deserving of that Accolade and just the relief now just when you can let your shoulder s and think oh I've done it I've done it then you roll out of bed in the morning don't you and the medal still there yeah but you don't mind that's it the bumps and bruises a souvenir for all the suffering but it's the sightseeing of the fans here in the Sha dears you mentioned that wonderful history they've added to that here today P crowds very knowledgeable as well and not PA as an in favor of anyone from France more in favor of Judo and that will of course complete the victory ceremony for the G2 category for the women's under 48 kg the penultimate Victory ceremony one more to come stay with us for that [Applause] [Music] [Music] ladies and gentlemen the victory for the Ben under 60 kg J2 will be starting very shortly [Music] [Music] [Music] we [Music] were [Music] [Music] [Music] you [Music] you e [Applause] [Music] you [Music] [Music] the make [Music] [Music] [Music] I [Music] [Music] time now for the victory ceremony in the mains under 60 kilogram category and the J1 classification on day one [Applause] [Applause] [Music] time now for the Medalist to make their way into the arena to receive their rewards and what was really an incredible close to the day it was an incredible close wasn't it and it was well the drama part came in this category that's for sure that final there was one lost one it was uh a bit back and fro and it was just a technical hitch really and it was definitely an infringement of the rules but uh cost the gold medal in the end [Music] [Applause] [Music] UK [Music] representing [Applause] represen so a brace of bronze medals as they both brace themselves for the evident emotions for Ukraine and Algeria respectively experience in the end ping peval David kava and an excellent bronze medal to complete an excellent day for Algeria but ishak old [Music] theier and they take their hard earned souvenir f as well little mascots can match these magical moments yeah I think he looks a little bit disappointed doesn't he I think he expected a little bit more and sometimes that happens sometimes the bronze medal is the hardest medal to go for especially if you've got higher expectations with those higher expectations in an engrossing [Applause] final big moments for Georgia zurab zabani and it went back and forth yeah it it was back and forth and he won it then he lost it AB zurani credit to him keeping his emotions in check with that excellent silver [Music] [Applause] oh the best man on the day Shazad Nam [Applause] moov get fighting to the Finish yeah I I mean he knew that he had to hold on and he made a mistake he left his arm out but uh actually he rolled into a position where his arm could come out but uh unfortunately it was just the way in order that uh the uh arm was taken out there that received the penalty and so he won it back he lost it all in the last minute and he won it back in the last minute as well two team Paran Olympic champion she has up numbers of and we'll share with him the national anthem of us bistan ladies and Gentlemen please stand if you are able for the anthem of usbekistan la [Applause] la [Applause] shov sharing the emotions with all four medalists David corova from Ukraine with bronze ishad UK likewise for Algeria Zur zurani with that silver medal but you can only have one champion and in the final category on the first day sherad noov is that man yes he is U and a great Champion a two-time now par Olympic champion now that'll never leave him and uh big smiles there everybody can be friends just for a little while but as you say friendships formed R's finished for the moment anyway all smiles and it's been a fitting conclusion to this first day of three three wonderful moments of parudo and that completes the victory ceremony the men's under 60 kgs the USC fans will be dancing in the streets of Paris tonight I'm sure celebrating their Champion but for you Neil Adams celebrating your sport and what has been an absolutely electric first day well we've got two more days to go hopefully we're going to see equally as many ions as we've seen today because that is what our Sports all about and uh it's just been a great show all day some great performances and some great Champions and great Insight from our expert we'll be joining you again tomorrow of course hopefully for more of the same you certainly can feel it as we look forward to day number two will enjoy some of the best moments from today [Music] [Music] the24 oring committee would like to thank all volunteers for their time and dedication [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] you [Music] well High emotions a few dance moves to finish we saw the big throws and in the throws of all those emotions we saw par Olympic Champions crowned from every continent and we saw the very best of par Judo in the company of Neil Adams our expert he'll be with us again tomorrow of course when we're looking for more of the same but from the Shawn dears Arena as you see the fans making their way out we certainly hope you've enjoyed today we have and we hope that you join us again tomorrow but from both NE and myself it's goodbye for now [Music] [Applause] [Music] h Miss has [Music] [Music]
