on uh 17 when you hit hit your second shot on the green it looked like a kind of a a relief moment or right tell us tell me tell me about that after you hit it on the green well I I've not played that hole well so uh you know it's pretty easy hole and everyone's torching the par fives except for me and finally hit the Fairway and then we hit the green and so I was just more you know my caddy and I was our goal to just kind of put in a spot where we can make birdie and you know obviously Eagle is a bonus when had had a chance to walk with some of your friends and family today what was it like having that crowd support out there it's been amazing every day honestly even in the practice rounds it's been so awesome um you know and then obviously having my immediate family and then close friends that don't usually get to come out and watch me play was really nice and then just the hometown support's been amazing did you see the hats out there yeah the D Club hats yeah it was really cool how many you think are with are out there for you and at least that you know of in terms of family friends like people I really know and are close I mean it's probably couple hundred um I mean there's so many kids from my high school guys that went to college with and obviously my cousins and then their kids and you know grandparents all that stuff so there's a lot of people and then and then seeing faces that I haven't seen in a long time and I feel like if I went through everyone in the crowd I feel like it'd be about a thousand people it's kind of cool are you still able to relax when are you making eye contact you you're aware of it how does that part work yeah no I'm I'm trying to make eye contact as much as possible um you know it's it's golf so tough um I not that I'm at this level but I feel a little bit like how tiger is because he always had the most amazing fan support and you know he would be walking through and everyone's pumping them up and you get your levels raised up so much and so it's been really tough for me to just calm down before I hit my next shot and um but I feel like I've done a good job with it and um hopefully tomorrow I can keep my nerves down how how bad did you want that putt to go in on 18 I wanted every putt to go in today pretty bad uh that one would have been really neat back toback bombs especially with uh you know the stadium at the end uh but really you know that was a tough two putt so I was really want a two putt but it it looked like it had a chance what's the feeling going into tomorrow that you know there is a decent shot that you can get this thing I mean that's my goal John my cadd and I we just wanted to be in contention um you know regardless of what happens tomorrow at least I had you know the is Flowing this week and battled a lot of the adversity of you know handling Hometown kid the pressure um you know then also I Trad I haven't been starting very well in tournaments and you know I just feel like I've overcome a lot of good things and know regardless of what happens at least I have good momentum going to the next week it's one thing if derri comes out for a day says hi and gets out of here I've walked with him he's walking the full 18 every day like what can you what what's that like yeah well it's it's really funny I I mean I saw the first day I thought that was cool and uh then I saw the next day and then I home today and he's walking all 18 it's uh I was like man you're really into golf he's like yeah this is fun so it's uh it's pretty cool honestly it's it's great to see where Derrick's gone in his career um you know it's it's honestly one of those pin yourself moments cuz I mean we were third grade all the way to High School playing basketball against each other and you'd almost never think that he'd be at the highest level and I would be the highest level at my sport and uh two kids coming out of Colorado it doesn't happen very often will you scoreboard watch tomorrow no I usually don't I usually don't did you wear BR colors on [Laughter] purpose yeah yeah I do last a year ago or year and a half maybe you're not here but how much how important has your team been for you to get to this point with Julie and caddy to get you to where just feels like you're able to handle whether it's diversity the anger you deal with any of that how important they been to get you uh very important um you know it's it's funny it's an individual Sport and when we are out there you kind of only just see the player but there's a ton that goes on behind the scenes that people don't know and that's trainers that's your family that's also your mental coach chat it's if people have swing coaches putty coaches whatever it is and um they've all helped me when things aren't going good to get me out of that and then when things are going good to keep me in a great spot and and then also to keep me grounded so they've helped me a ton when you were in here yesterday you you kind of stopped when somebody said you know you're in contention you said oh n nine back now you're four back are you surprised how much ground you could make up in you know pretty quickly yeah I mean a little bit I I'm I felt like I've played maybe some of the best golf out here I just haven't scored it very well and then obviously the first day three water balls you know it said it in these interviews things could have gone a little different in all those rounds we'd be having different talks but it is really nice that uh guys came back a little bit and you know this golf course there's a lot of scoring holes and there's a lot of holes you can make big numbers so if you can kind of you know avoid the disasters and then take advantage of those birdy holes you can really get on a run and and cover some ground yeah thanks guys
