US Open Quarter Finals 2024 Review & Sinner vs Medvedev

hello my friends welcome back to B booy tennis news um I'm here having a nice Express show we're going to talk soon about the quarterfinals of the US Open we're at the quarterfinal stage before we do as I was saying we are now at the quarterfinal stage of the US Open this US Open will be known I think as the US Open of the upsets but let's first talk about the quarterfinals top half C meddev and Draper de now there's going to be a bottom half Fritz Zev dimitro tifo so obviously um except for C mvdv there is a lot of newcomers to this um far section of the draw there will be a lot of players here licking their lips since there is no jovic no alcaras and a few other good players that were upset early on um for example dimitrov tifo the bottom section they will really be licking their lips thinking oh well I can make it all the way to the final and then let's see even a draper deminar who uh whoever wins will be in a semi-final uh but the real match let's be honest is going to be sinner meddev that for me is the quarterfinal match not only that for me that is a final match whoever is going to win that I think will win the tournament um Zev in the bottom maybe he's playing really good this year doing very well but I don't think so I think the cner medev match is the one to look out for sinner has found his four played very well against Tommy Paul beat him in three sets he's looking good meddev also playing really well um won very easily against bges um let's talk about that one quickly I think that um I'm going to give Medvedev um the predictions are predictions so whatever but I think medv has a slight Advantage uh they have played many times before medev won the first the head to head is something like 75 medv I might be a bit wrong but I know he's slightly ahead having said that the beginning of their rivalry when s wasn't still that good or what he is now may of them maybe theyve won five in a row then from last year um sort of end of last year cner then put another five in a row wins so they were equal and then Medvedev beat him in Wimbledon uh where they played five sets so he slight Advantage having said that that Wimbledon match I do not know if I'm more impress impressed with meddev winning beating sinner or sinner going five sets considering all the drama he had to live through or probably still is living through with his um um you know doping um case and so on so it was very impressive the way he's been playing all year with that in his mind in fact I wonder if still that might have a slight impact on his performance um it can't be that easy I'm pretty sure there's still a lot of talk about it and at this fast stage of a grand slam um I don't know it's probably not uh but it it could be a factor a little factor that could make all the difference about this matchup I think um it's going to be interesting and I I think it's a great matchup uh it's going to be very tactical um what medev has changed a bit and has been forced to change especially playing the likes of sin and alcarez lately is that he cannot be his usual uh Med playing style back of the Court moving you to side to side and basically being like a wall um he has to be a little bit more aggressive if you've noticed he's improved in the last year or two thanks to C and alcaras he's taking a few steps more inside of the court and he's being more aggressive in order to win and into order to impose his game Medi doesn't have many solutions to his games like maybe an alarz or a sinner different ways to beat you he relies a lot on his serve and obviously on making moving around and making very very few unforced errors um his serve though is not what it used to be um he has still got a great serve but it's not what it used to be apparently he has had um this is caused by a bit of a pain that he's had in his shoulder apparently from the last year or so in fact you've noticed his service has gone down a little so it will be very clue for medv to serve well if he can and try and impose his game um style if that happens I think he's slightly advantage on cner because there are the two best hard Cod players in the world let's not forget this there are two hard Cod Specialists this year sner is definitely the best hard Cod player in the world Australian Open Miami Cincinnati and so on uh so uh it's an intriguing match what does sinner have to do well sinner might start off playing just the way he usually plays being super aggressive at the back of the Court the courts are very fast but also he has to improve his serving his serving has not been great so far he has to improve his Service uh his first serves in that will make a huge difference and then the other thing I think so far his his return of Serv has been incredible one of the best especially against Tom Paul if he managed to have a match where his return of service very good he might just win playing the way C has won because he has beaten meddev playing the way CER has played but he's also beaten meddev with a bit of variety I think his slice if he can slice the ball medv doesn't like low Pace he likes to Pace come to him so that could be a a very good thing to do and Al also serving volley he he did that with him once time mixing it up especially on the ad side it worked very well for C so it's going to be intriguing match it's going to be early hours of the morning but uh it's worth watching that Draper Demi N I think Demi N More experienced will win I love Draper great play Lefty very powerful would like Draper to win but I've Got a Feeling Demi now is going to win Demi now will be hoping meddev wins because he's got a terrible record against cner he gets killed every time he plays against sinner terrible head-to-head instead with medv he's managed to beat him a few times so he'll be hoping that medv wins in the bottom half we've got the Americans um but I think it's anybody's uh match here Fritz Zev dimitro chafo I think ziv will beat Fritz and TFO will beat dimitro but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes the other way so it's very difficult to predict uh anybody can make it here uh I've Got a Feeling Zev will do better we'll go through all the way to the final but who knows with the American public who knows TFO or Fritz maybe surprise us and go all the way and even win it I don't know um talking about the upsets quickly we have to talk about this tournament the upsets of jovic alcarez jovic obviously won the gold that was his uh main um focus this year he's won everything won all the grand slams won now the gold but he didn't come into the US Open he didn't do any tournament to lead up to it he um was hoping like he does sometimes with Wimbledon he can get an easy draw work his way into the into the draw and find form but he played terrible uh he lost to um uh poin and in in fre sets and and also he said he was terrible bad match he was tired mentally and physically it was it was just very bad and you could see that the question has to be jovic is telling everybody that he's going to play until the next Olympics which is uh in four years time I don't believe that um how is he going to maintain his um um I mean four years um he's already not won a slam this year and you know he's somebody who's used to winning slams it's not like he goes a year without winning a slam so um I don't know it's going to be very interesting next year apparently this year is still still going to Asia to shangai I think but jovic winning a th000 playing a 500 I don't know it's all going to be about the slams for him and I next year if he also doesn't win and slam anymore I'm I'm not too sure I'm also physically best of five who knows alcaras also uh out very early against BK um I won't try and say hisame but uh you know who I'm talking about uh also that was a surprise he did do a tournament to lead up uh but um got beaten quite badly as well in the tournament in in before in Cincinnati also lost to M Fields not a good moment for alarz um very strange uh alarz again uh people going ah but you know he's won two grand slams a thousand and they're still the rest of the year to play So for anybody standard that's a great year he's very young so I wouldn't be but I think that's the thing he's very young he probably needs a bit of time to just relax and take everything in I think everything a lot of has happened in the last couple of years to to alaras to to caritos and it I think he just needs to step back also his management there's a bit of rumors there um that he's not too happy uh some people that I follow who were in uh the US Open who are in New York say he been around a lot without his management his team so I'm not sure what that to read too much into that but that's what's going on uh but give him a bit of time I'm sure the same happened last year he had this end of year beginning of year not that great but then he came back and he he won a couple of slams the other people tiip pass out uh I don't know if that's an upset run out also I don't think we can call that an upset anymore he goes out and he writes his life story on social media nowadays uh but I think titas is fight his father just get a new coach start from fresh scratch and he can make it Runa has also got a coaching thing where he must sort himself out but maybe he's also got more growing up issues mental issues I'm not sure another one who disappoints often is oio orasim Felix um he was coming into the US Open looking really good but he always disappoints I don't know what's going on with him he's a player that's got the physique got all the shots uh he's strong um he does everything 8 n out of 10 but I think him is a confidence mental thing I don't know how you solve that maybe you should look um to add someone to his team or whatever I did interview his uh his coach uh on one of my podcasts listened to that a few years ago that was very interesting um but yeah he he he doesn't seem to to to sorry do well in these uh in these slams uh another one was uh hkat people maybe thinking um that uh he would do better and C as well but they had their own issues hulat in fact has stopped his um his uh relationship with his coach and so he'll be there's quite a lot of changes happening in the top uh levels of tennis but that's it uh let's talk again at the end of the um tournament and um that's
