chambi now both sides this game really matters as the postseason is approaching well at this point of the Year guys are a little bit tired but you've got to find a way to dig deeper and bring out your best with so much opportunity to be able to punch your ticket for October so almost ready to get underway and the right-hander with the good curve ball Aaron do and he's kind of been the talk of baseball since his last outing he was outstanding complete game shut out he got some great support from his defense he's got the swing in this stuff everything working for him see if he's got it today you've watched these guys all season long but to see them go head to-head so fun hopefully we'll be watching this for many years to come goes down swinging for the strike out couldn't catch up to the heater very frustrating right there as a speedy potential base runner when with two strikes you just struggle to put the ball in play you don't even have to get a hit at that point you can help your close to 200 Innings on the year you know there's some Milestones that pitchers go after one of them 20 wins but another one that we don't talk about a whole lot is that 200 inning threshold to be able to surpass that says that hey they prepared themselves for the season they were able to stay healthy and they ble to pitch effectively enough to stay in ball games long enough to reach that number pretty impressive on what he's done and it's not over yet kicks and fires that one the other way guel handles the chance and there's one down on the north side of Chicago John chabi and Chris swings and misses and it's own and one Thomas goes 5' 11 in hitting sth in today's lineup he's been scoring a lot of runs lately he scored nine times in the last 10 games [Applause] next pitch misses breathes a s Rel because he puts pressure on everyone if he can put the ball in play but that's how you do it keep him off balance get him out of there and deal with the next guy and the batter now well that's always the key to effective pitching is getting ahead in the count and as a pitcher it really allows you to start expanding The Zone guys become defensive and all of a sudden for the hitter that plate starts to get really wide and what happens is because of the pressure you end up committing to a pitch as a batter before you recognize what it is and that's what leads to the strikeout and the 02 and that skips into dirt two outs stays alive and down on strikes he goes the big right he strikes out the Corbin Carroll stands in now for the Diamondbacks the rander back to work and that one just misses a ball and no strikes try to get him to chase on the change up that time the next pitch misses and that's ball [Applause] three that just missed he walked him on four he handles the bat there goes the runner there's a ball goes too late with a throw safe you know kns like this when it seems harder to score I like the call to put him in motion and try to steal the base Ball's not carrying no home run so far so trying to manufacture some offense like this may be the way to go and that's ball four maybe a little loss of focus on the mound right there pretty much gifted him first base with a quick free pass catel Marte up to the plate that one's in there o and one there was a high velocity f f ball in the zone I think a little frustration from walking the previous hitter he's got good stuff pitch inside the zone and trust it swings and misses on the fast ball up in the zone for the strike out two onone out now up next for Arizona Christian Walker and that's in there for strike one that's a little bit low way to lay off that pitch down that's in there one and two Carol on second Pomo at first one gone pcks and misses it's a strikeout just absolutely rolling on the mound he's looking very much on his game in the early parts of this one boo fully on the attack with these hitters that's seven strikeouts already so he's got a good Pace going no doubt on the ground right side he takes it himself to the bag and that'll do it so they're able to work around a pair of walks in the Inning on now to the bottom of so digging in Tommy fam and the right hter back to work and that's through there for a strike you know these Dbacks showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one they haven't produced a run yet but the pitch count for the starter is starting to climb so they're hoping that starts to pay off soon kick sandal swings through it and that's a strike out oh that's a curve ball that people like to describe as a hammer or Uncle Charlie and you can see why it's not a looping slow curve he throws it hard and it gets plenty of bite on the end Thomas in the Box here lets that one go for a ball next offering is in for a strike and I think they're in a good spot thanks to their pitching but no one would be shocked if this offense strings something together to take the lead two and one now in there for a strike at the top of the zone absolutely Frozen with a back door slider for strike three wow that's a tough call for the hitter but the pitcher will take that all day long not quite in the strike zone but he found a spot that the Umpire is going to at least for now allow him to get that call so hitters are going to have to make an adjustment but pitchers are going to learn from those things and really try to exploit them if they can H makes the catch and that will end the inning now it's the power speed combo Aaron Donald cruising on the mound right now but a dangerous hitter here in this spot a guy with some slug to him swing and a miss that's strike one and the pitch that one off the mark and the count one and two well that's kind of what you expect in an 02 count excellent job of the hitter to have the plate discipline to lay off of that pitch next one just misses now two and two caught a break right there pretty good pitch on the outside really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today good fast ball excellent slider but they've not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there the other way Morel and when he was in his prime you would see a lot of guys out in front right-handers pulling that change up in the stands and then fouling the fast ball the opposite field up into the [Applause] stands the dbat yet to pick up a hit here swing and a miss struck him out pretty electric stuff showing up on the mound right now I mean in the double digit strikeouts he should be able to rack up some more before he's done in this one and not many of these hitters have had much of an answer for what he's offering out there hermo stands in here takes ball one low he's over one next offering is foul back righty to the plate so critical to keep an eye on the pitch count this time of the year guys can start to run on fumes a little bit mechanics can drop off and we know they need him to be fresh and ready for big innings in October that's through there for a strike helpful here's a line drive and that's going to end the no hitter it's a base hit show a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way didn't get jumpy didn't try to pull the ball he let it get deep took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit fast ball in for a strike and the count that's ball two you get to this part of the order yeah there's some pop there but more likely there are some base hits so very important to be patient let the pitcher walk you if he will two- one pitches in there and the count is even in the dirt gos to First in time to get him one away in the strike out a big first out here in the seventh V of the punch out yeah it just does so much to change the Outlook of an important inning like this when you got the leadoff hitter so critical in setting the table when you got a tight game like this so a strike out really puts them on their heels strike Moreno and the first pitch misses for ball one bounced up the middle tosses to first first out in the top of the eight couple of pitches and a quick out Emmanuel Rivera standing in now for the Diamondbacks slow ground ball to the right side steps on first for the out well he didn't recognize change up earlier enough got out in front a little bit rolled over on it and beat it into the ground and first off ring is fouled off left hand hitter Waits comes up empty that's strike two trying to keep good speed off the bases next one misses and that's ball one and that's outside triple digits on that last pitch so one two three go the Diamondbacks they Trail here one [Applause] nothing Heraldo Pomo stands in now for the Diamondbacks off for the pitch and that gets the inside corner for a strike he's been so sharp today even over 100 pitches thrown his Skipper is leaving him in there to finish the job the 02 smashed to the left side throws across the diamond and they get the lead off man and the N oh he's doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball good execution Marte in the box now takes strike one that catches the top part of the zone no balls two [Applause] strikes swings and misses struck him out a big performance on the mound lots of strikeouts that was number 14 yeah clearly trusted his steal in this one boo feeling really good about what he's working with and that really allows a guy to attack hitters you know such an important mindset to have out there on the mound especially when you're ahead in the count with two strikes and now it's going to be Christian Walker he swings and misses at the first pitch o and one there's The Swinging a Miss well you got the hitter already chasing that nasty slider if you're on the mountain you just want to expand the zone right now get a swing and miss and get through this at bat the tying run at the plate pitch misses two and two fights it off he'll see another and now it's filled up big pitch coming right here last thing he wants to do is put the tying run on base but he can't Groove one either chop to third throw to first ball game and the comes
