only 3 hours apart yet meeting for the first time in over 40 years as 16th ranked Oklahoma State takes on Arkansas and a potential playoff ramification game in the new 12 team field and welcome to the booth Dave pass alongside Dusty dorek will take a check in with Taylor McGregor here in a little bit no coach speak whatsoever Dusty in our meetings yesterday with the two head coaches Mike Gundy realizes with the strength of the SEC in the Big 10 in terms of getting multiple Big 12 teams in the new playoff field not just the conference champ the automatic bid they have to win resume potentially building games like this for Sam Pitman he knows he's on the hot seat yet a win could Vault his team back into SEC relevance and what an opportunity here today on the road against the number 16 in 16 team in the country in Oklahoma State a lot of newness in fville as they recognize the importance of the season a completely remade roster a new coaching staff headline Bobby patrino and they feel a win today can really catapult them in the right direction in this P season and in Oklahoma State this is one of the most veteran experienced teams in all of college football they've got lofty expectations these guys came back to do something collectively special here this season and what an opportunity and a moment against this Arkansas Team a big opportunity as you mentioned to bolster and build that resume if they're the team they think they could be they win games like today against Arkansas and we've got one of the best players in the country on display leading rusher from a year ago Heisman candidate in 2024 in Oly Gordon he's a special football player and there's a few traits like his patience allows his blocks to set up in front of him and when he sees to hold the burst through is simply exceptional his ability to have vision and see the open hole they get going in their zone game he'll work to one side see the cut back and hit it downhill right now watch out for that vicious stiff arm as well and then few people in college football break tackles the way Gordon does he can jump cut make you miss in the hole lower that shoulder with a big 62 225b frame one of the toughest running backs in all of college football get the ground he isv and he's going to have a huge piece of this game here today Saturday of week two kicks off next from Stillwater this 2015 you look also at the numbers during Reggie Bush and Mark Ingram's Heisman Trophy candidate Seasons to Oly Gordon's season of a year ago and remember Gordon most of those numbers came in the last 10 games so pretty comparable to Bush and Ingram Derrick Henry obviously had a running back season like none other in 2015 at Alabama and interestingly enough talking with Travis Williams defensive coordinator said o Gordon reminds him of Derrick Henry it's going to be a pass play on first down nice adjustment by stribling to make the catch Alan Bowman now in his seventh season in college football had a 600 yd passing game six years ago but again that was not in high school that was in Texas Tech and moved on to Michigan from there now in his second year with Oklahoma State a gain of six on first down Bowman throwing again and complete across the middle out to the 42 big Rashad Owens 63 catches a year ago be a big part of what you'll see today from Oklahoma State and it's what you have to ask yourself defensively playing Oklahoma state do we load up to take away OE Gordon if they do excellent targets outside and a quarterback and Alan Bowman that can distribute the football Bowman got his undergraduate degree from Tech got his Masters at Michigan hly Gordon's first tou to the day bottled up after a short game Oklahoma state will take that just two yards there and ball on the stop talk about the experience of Oklahoma State especially that offensive line they'll be put to the test with the size of this Arkansas front bman thr again and lobing it down field going for Owens and he was interfered with J single in coverage an automatic first down here here for Oklahoma State yeah had a pretty easy call outside single ter gets that right arm up into the body of the large receiver Rashad Owens just gets Tangled Up and an easy flag on the field pass interference Defense number 15 15 yeny it is first down that right arm grabbing tug it on the shoulder pad he falls to the ground but single was he was in a bad spot bit not happy about that but that was the right call I guess he thought Rashad Owens did his fair share of tugging and maybe thought there should not have been a flag on his guy first down though for Oklahoma State already inside the Arkansas 40 yd line Oklahoma State beat South Dakota State week one their first loss in three years Bowman a ton of time and finally able to dump it off to Josh Ford true freshman tight end Gundy raved about in our meeting yesterday compared him to a cage fighter how about the protection by this offensive line so experience pick up the fourman pressure Bowman stands firm in there allows for that true freshman Josh Ford to come open and a nice strike for a first down good receiver super physical says Gundy wild snap there Bowman able to collect and fire complete to the sideline to Presley is grabbed and thrown out of bounds on the sideline by J Med but gain him about eight good job just getting his hand on it bringing it down no Panic from the veteran quarterback and you see that quick release three quarter outside to his favorite Target Bren Presley nice play a second and short Bowman off play action taking a shot into the end zone going for stribling and he can't come up with it looked like it went through his hands Deno Slaughter in coverage when you turn back the way strippling did the sun is in your face and that may have been a factor tell what Slaughter I think might have got his hand on this football he's in perfect position to make a play gets that hand in there at the last minute really well done by the senior safety not allowing that catch by The Talented aan triin miss most of last year due to injury but he is a talent transfer from Washington State dejon striblin here's incomplete it was intended for Presley and it looked like both Presley and Owens were in the same area not a lot of spacing and it's a turnover on Downs Jaylen Braxton was there in coverage for it here and and again a ofen the and all the way down the 34 of Oklahoma state two rushing touchdowns in his razor last week that run there goes for 40 yard they want to run the football they want to play action in boot and get T green on the perimeter with run pass options lot of green grass out in front and a huge chunk play with a 6'6 t green when he gets that stride opened up man he is so tough to deal with put on some muscle gained about 10 lbs in the off seon here's Jackson trying to pick a hole down to the 30 at the 27 ydd line seven yd gain on first down it's a remade offensive line Eric Mato comes in to help this offensive line nice job by the Pooler Carmona coming across but you see the patience there by jend Jackson allows that block to set up jump cut back up north and south and a nice pick up on first down second and three for Arkansas green with time to throw oh into the end zone and the ball sails out of bounds Jordan Anthony had a step on the defender but green threw it out of play and it's third down and three to the two rushing touchdowns for green last week he also threw for two scores he'll put it in his hands here in third down and three obviously we just saw it but his running ability there are options with him at quarterback running lot of read Zone here tailing green really good at the mesh stead heill throw it pressure up the middle down he goes May out of field back at the 3 yd line Jeff Robson who made his firster start last week with the and a Los of timely pressure by n opens wide up for Robson and he's able to get break protction no one identifies the lineer a huge St Oklahoma State Defense on third down and so from here it would be about a 54 yd field goal attempt and looks like they're going to punt it Devin Bale is out there for Arkansas it's fourth down and 12 so Brennan Presley jogs onto the field now for Oklahoma State as a returner and there's a penalty marker down Cowboys may have had too many men on the field on the offense 5 yard penalty fourth down Oklahoma state was dangerously close at one point in that sequence to having too many men on the field if Arkansas had snapped the ball still would have made it fourth and seven but maybe would have put them in a position to try a long field goal but because of the delay of game that actually ends up helping Deon Bale a little bit trying to pin the Cowboys deep inside the 10 yd line so first punt for arkans saw this year last week in their win over Arkansas pinebluff they scored touchdowns in all 10 of their possession and excellent P that time by dein bale as Arkansas Downs it at the one yd line Tyrone broen down there to catch it at the one no score early on in Stillwater let's take a look at some of the defensive players going be making plays today Dusty's defensive TW land Jackson all 67 280 and Nick Martin a tackling machine pre-season All Conference preseason all Americans they'll be all over the field today interestingly enough high school teammates meeting up here today and still one in Tex Arcana Texas is on first down from inside the one it's a quarterback sneak from Bowman they ran eight plays on their opening drive and they threw it six times only two carries for Heisman Trophy Kennedy Ali Gordon in fact they threw it on four down and did not convert see if they try to pound it here they got Jake Schon again at fullback on second and eight a little bit of breathing room now and Bowman will throw from his Endzone and he's going deep and the ball is overthrown and incomplete trying to hit stribling as we check in with Taylor be more physical with number 40 that is what Oklahoma State o line coach Charlie Dicky was telling his line after that first series number 40 of course refering land and Jackson The Edge rusher for Arkansas they want to see more physicality which talking to both coaches this week they knew this game would be more physical and they're calling for it early here Dave it's a great report there Taylor and there's no doubt this game will be about physicality that offensive line and dealing with land is going to be a huge key all throughout this ball game Bowman to throw middle of his End Zone on Third and long and it's offt Target he was trying to hit Presley and so now Oklahoma state will have the punt from the back of its end zone Arkansas's defense has only given up one third down so far this year there was time wasn't under pressure just a misfire outside on the perimeter coupled there from Allan Bowman he was so good in the opener against South Dakota State when the jack rabbits came in they played very tough as they expected backto back FCS championships but Bowman off a little bit here on this second possession let's see if aranso comes after the punter no they set up for the return and it's a short kick SATA is leveled by his own guy so therefore no catch interference TJ [Applause] metf cross Johnson actually was the guy that ran right into satania sat did well to hang out of the ball call that Friendly Fire Pi it out by his own man so Arkansas still starting in Oklahoma State Terr at the 45 yd line and he's going to keep it green with room inside the 30 and down to the 27 they're finding some huge running Lanes against that defense that one for 18 yd what a nice job by the center getting up Addison Nichols getting up on the line kle Daniel securing the middle of that field quarterback run game up the middle well executed by T green to Quinton Jackson now and no Running Room that time thrown down by Xavier Ross at the point of attack and talking with Brian Nardo the defensive coordinator for Oklahoma State yesterday you could sense he was a little nervous about the physicality of Arkansas there were some Rush lanes open last week that was an issue last last year as well on defense this is the second time already Arkansas's been inide the cowboy 30 one yard on first down Green keeping it trying to get the perimeter inside the 25 before he scoots out of play gain of about three pushed out by Trey Rucker who's an excellent safety sixe guy fourth at Oklahoma State transer you'll see this quite a bit here today at the mes Point nice job freeding it out by got to be able to and set that Ed and for green back and green still able to Pi up a cou so on pressure the last big third down from Brian Nardo he going to come after T green here on third down Green got sacked on third down in the last Drive pushed him out of field goal range green to the air with ti fires and it's caught inside the 10 down to the yard line Tyrone bro 18 yd first and goal coming up well this offensive line holding up in protection only a fourman rush and they give Taylor green plenty of time to survey the field comes open over the middle and a nice third down conversion from Green first and goal on the six Jackson will get the carry off the left side grounded at the five by Colin clay who started his college career at Arkansas playing in 11 games as a true freshman and missed a couple years due to injury transferred to Oklahoma State now in his sixth College season gain of one on the play second and goal from the fox of note Andrew Armstrong in this game he missed the opener against Arkansas Pine Bluff the best receiver from a season ago he' been dealing with the hamstring throughout fall camp near your screen and singled up over there but they're going to run it Jackson finds aase into the end zone touchdown Arkansas third rushing touchdown of the season for jindan Jackson who came out of high school as a quarterback went to Texas transferred to Utah was the backup quarterback there then moved to running back and really comfortable in that position we saw it at Utah and off to a great start with the Razer backs Ramsey on for the point after 7even nothing Arkansas well we talked about being a physical Affair in the Arkansas offensive line how much improved were they Addison Nichols the center am Marion Harris the left their bread and butter and run Gordon this will be a Touchback and so Cowboys will start on their 25 yd line let a big game in Big 12 country a lot of big games across the landscape this weekend in the Big 12 Kansas State's over at two lane today Cincinnati pit I think that Kansas Illinois game very intriguing the shawk trophy as well BYU got a big win last night at SMU Big 12 wants to bolster that resume some of these non-conference matchups a huge opportunity today for them to be able to do that first down on the 25 and Gordon does get the carry here and just picks up a couple before he's wrapped up Mike Gundy mentioned to us yesterday he does not see a lot of bubble teams in the Big 12 because of the strength of the Big 10 in the SEC if you're a conference champion in the power four you get an automatic fit as Bowman throws on second down and coming back to get the ball and make the catch for a first down out to the 39 yd line is tailon shetron but games like this are huge in terms of improving your resume should you have to rely on an at large bit in this expanded 12 team playoff Bowman tripped up by cam ball no gain on the play got to take advantage when the opportunity presents itself an SEC team coming into your backyard Mike Gundy made no bones about it's a big game another pass play Bowman setting up and that ball is thrown High intended for shetron incomplete it brings up third down and long pass just a little bit off the mark for Alan Bowman thought that was one that Chet would be able to come down with looked almost as if he extended he kind of slipped there now setting up a third and long situation for the Cowboys again 10 pass attempts for Bowman just three carries for Gordon obviously passing sit sitation here on Third and 10 fourman rush for Arkansas Bowman over the middle knock down incomplete Jaden Johnson broke up the pass right at the line to game shaton again the intended target and another punt coming up for Oklahoma State this pass off Target for Alan Bowman behind his wide receiver got to put that ball out in front nice job by cetron sitting down that zone there was a soft spot there that pass comes off behind allows the defender to make up and a nice play by Jaden Johnson to lead that defense he Force yet another Oklahoma State punt Hudson coock on the punt satania back deep looking into the sun and the fair catch made around the 16 yd line it's early but fans a little nervous and very quiet here in still waterer down seven nothing to Arkansas to Arkansas when the port will open in mid December so far he's handled this environment very well he's quieted the crowd with his legs had some great runs on that last drive that led to a touchdown he'll throw it here on first down everybody covered so green patrino back at Arkansas was the head coach 2008 to 2011 was an A&M last year as the offensive coordinator green flips it downfield complete rhen on the ground first down to the 43 yd line and obviously patrino has had a history of success working with quarterbacks you look at what he did at Louisville for Lamar Jackson T Green's the biggest guy he's had since he was at Arkansas the first time and he had Ryan Mallet it was a terrific player for the Razer backs as well identified knew he wanted to go after T green recruited him out of high school and it was a very easy decision to bring him in to be his quarterback in fville they run Jackson here inside the 30 Jackson finally dropped at the 26 17 more yards on the ground nice job by the left side of this Arkansas offensive line Carona does a nice job securing it big cut back Lane the vision and downhill running of jnd Jackson This Arkansas offense just off to an excellent start here in this first [Applause] quarter a fresh set of downs inside the 30 for the third time Jackson will not get back to the line of scrimmage that was well defended Nick Martin who led the Big 12 in tackles last year made the play and a loss of a yard or two Nick Martin 140 tackles a season ago he's instinctive plays so fast and a very good open field tackler nice negative play on first down PR seas in all America second and 12 now from the 28 Rodney Hill in the game at running back green will throw from the pocket and off Target trying the back shoulder throw to Jordan Anthony who came to Arkansas with Bobby patrino transferring from Texas A&M in the Off seon Third and 12 coming up feels like a big third down spot here for Brian Ardo in this defense we've seen a lot of Chunk plays out a thaon green in this Arkansas offense here in the first quarter haven't called Colin Oliver's name yet outstanding Edge rusher for Oklahoma State can he win get home and get a stop for this defense green steps up and runs inside the 20 inside the 10 and out of bounds around the 5 yd line a gain of 2 three on Third and 12 you you've got to have good Rush Lanes when you're going against T green freeze it right here guys right there as this opens up too much space you've got to keep good pass rush Integrity you can't open up big lanes for T green to take advantage of he sees that hole open up he sees the Green Grass and a big conversion on third down and a chance to go up 14 nothing here in the first quarter first and goal on the six yard line play fake green on the boot with time into the end zone broken up incomplete L RS who missed most of last year with an injury got a hand on that football was intended for Ty Washington who looked open when green threw the ball was an excellent play by L RS just to get a hand on that football he's in trail position ball a little bit behind Washington nice recovery by RS to prevent a touchdown on second and goal it'll be a run straight Ahad into the end ZD jits P for the second already a dominant opening quarter by the Razer backs on the road just good blocking up front inside hat on a hat kall Daniels the converted safety to linebacker nobody accounts for him he's a step slow it's a second touchdown for Jin Jackson and Jackson running off the field beckoning the crowd to keep booing him there's also some Arkansas fans over there he was looking for their attention as well the extra point makes it 14 nothing with a minute 31 to go here in the opening quarter coming up next on ABC South Carolina squares off against Kentucky and the SEC Conference opener and then later tonight 14th ranked Tennessee against NC State big early season test for both the Wolfpack did not look great last week both games available in ABC and ESPN plus Nico yarava looked great one of those SEC High powerered offenses in the opening week we're seeing another one of those SEC High powerered offenses that scored 60 plus here today in Arkansas and boy they have picked up right where they left off against Arkansas Pine Bluff in week one well we talked all week about the patrino factor he is again you look at his history with quarterbacks and when we talked with Sam Pitman yesterday about it he said patrino was the guy I wanted from day one he he was the person I thought to best help get us back to being a good offense as that ball goes out of bounds so it'll be decent starting field position here for Oklahoma State as we check in with Kevin nandhi in the studio Dave good afternoon time now for our all state check in to the big house here B Texas gets on the board first against the Michigan defense it's Quinn ERS to gunar helm really good job by Quinn of stepping up the Michigan defensive tackles have got to get better pass something like a young Dusty divor Longhorns lead the defending Cham 7 nothing Dave Dusty back to you so a little D tackle on D tackle love there booger to Dusty not many guys know what it's like in that position that you guys were in we've got a great appreciation for one another love you Bo appreciate that it's a big possession for Oklahoma State offensively dud and they're going to give it to Gordon here they try the perimeter and down he goes they ran between the tackles with Gordon the first couple possessions they try the edge here and xaven Sor is over there to make the hit sorry they are very excited about him the Georgia transfer warmer number one outside linebacker in the country fstar Talent extremely athletic really starting to come into His Zone Travis Williams excited about what this season potentially holds for Sor a nice play at the line of scrimmage only six first quarter rushing yards for Ali Gordon on three attempts another high snap Bowman gets it down his pass is knock down incomplete Hudson Clark former walk-on defending Brennan Presley and now it's third and long what manto man outside look they're loading up going manto man saying our guys can cover your guys and The Savvy veterans who played a lot of football for the Hogs excellent coverage nice job bringing that right arm in and getting the pass break up now of a sudden Oklahoma State looking at third and 10 this drive the Arkansas defense we talked a lot about the Arkansas offense this def has really settled in forcing Alan Bowman to beat him he's not right now he's one for his last eight passing see if they bring pressure here on third down and long rushing for Bowman hitching and now delivers to Owens over the middle drilled at the 40 well short of the line to gain decision for Mike Gundy it's early it's still the first quarter fourth and five get you you can't give this Arkansas offense that you have not been able to stop yet a short field I think you punt it you play the field position it's a long ball game think too early on your own authority to go for it fourth and five he will not have to make that decision it looks like right now based on the play clock game clock how this Arkansas defense though Jaden Johnson right there in the hip of Rashad Owens and Rashad Owens a big body receiver gets him to the ground immed know what the hang up is here yeah not sure why the play clock didn't start it started now but he's not going to have to snap it but he's going to punt but that will come in the second quarter looks like Oklahoma State tried to punt it before the end of the quarter but Pitman here with Arkansas head coach Sam Pitman what has worked offensively for you guys uh you know we're able to run the football and any time we're able to run the football we can play action we're protecting him pretty good they did have a total Blitz that got to us down there in our first drive but we've got to keep playing hard we're doing a good job of Defending we're we're we're knocking down contested balls on defense we got to get better pressure on the quarterback if not he'll pick us apart if so we've got to get a little bit better pass rush but we're doing a good job against the run thank you already 114 rushing yards for Arkansas make that about 134 gain of 14 tripped up at the 30 yd line is J Quin and Jackson by Cameron what it's good push and good movement and the nice cut back Lane we talked about the vision of Oli Gordon from the onset we're seeing the vision of Jin and Jackson and when you run that zone and you get that movement of the defensive line up front cut that cut that lanes open up and Arkansas is just gashing this front of the Cowboys you see Jackson there being tended to a little shaken up Rodney Hill in the game play action green dumps it off at the last second before he's hit that's going to lose yardage he'll made the catch but loss of a couple on the play Colin Oliver finally got some pressure first time we've called his name this afternoon they got to get Colin Oliver going move him last year was more of a second level linebacker exclusively Adder around the line of scrimmage doing what he does best creating disruption pressuring [Music] quarterbacks this is interesting they had satania Lin up on the back field but that was just smok and mirrors to get him on the perimeter with motion and now now green throws high but it's caught by Andrew Armstrong who underneath was wide open it's Armstrong's first catch of the Year missed last week due to injury and it goes for 15 yard drop eight here by the OSU defense lot of cushion outside how about the snare by Armstrong elevates snatches that ball out of the air nice job after the catch there's a lot of cushion outside there playing really soft on the perimeter against these Arkansas wide receivers Armstrong a transfer from Texas A&M Commerce 56 catches five touchdowns a year ago juggling it his Armstrong after he caught it but able to secure it and gain about three much better defense that time Cameron EPS over there for Oklahoma State two minutes in the second quarter Arkansas up 14 nothing at Midfield Jin Jackson checking back in for the Razer backs after getting shaken up earlier on the [Applause] Drive Jackson Straight Ahead he gets drilled at the point of attack no gain on the play Kendall Daniels who bulked up went from safety to linebacker stuck his face in there nice job by Daniels unaccounted for saw on that last touchdown run he was late to go [Applause] making that play right around the line of scrimmage and for Brian Nardo this defense on their heels right now got to come up with a stop green Mobility we've seen several times here today something you got to be mindful of as a front they bring pressure it's picked they have their timeouts they could try to run the ball or throw it and get into the end zone Arkansas's out of out they don't have to kick it right now but let's see there's still a conversation going on as to whether that was initiated by the defense false start so now the clock [Applause] is and and again if you're Arkansas you gain time here cuz the the clock starts on the snap now because to go anything in the middle of the field if it's short of the sticks that clock is running so if it's to the middle of the field you got to get a first down to stop the clock green steps up and throws complete Armstrong is loose inside the 30 and finally dropped inside the 30 Out of Bounds at the 27 with 12 seconds to go it would be about 45 yd field goal from here now they restart the clock he stayed inbound so the clock is moving 8 seconds left spike it they're not going to spike it 4 seconds left Green's head he throws it's incomplete the clock's at two though they still have time but that was butchered by Arkansas almost a disastrous finish to this game if Armstrong catches that ball and Tackle that's ball game have no chance at this field goal Green just unaware of the situation and where the clock was at in that spot but I think they thought the ball that the runner was out of bounds and the clock that would start on the snap but cuz they panicked as soon as they put the ball down but now a 45 yd field goal Try by Ramsey to tie the game transfer from AAL Christian and the kick is God just inside the right upright Oklahoma State elects not to freeze the kicker in that overtime presented by chees it's crunch time this game early on looked like there was no chance of overtime Arkansas was dominating a 14- nothing Oklahoma State storm back took the lead but Arkansas you get to the second overtime if we get there you must attempt a two-point conversion after a touchdown and if we get to a third overtime it's only alternating two-point conversion attempts what a at larges there may only be one team for the Big 12 which means you have to then win the Big 12 Championship but a win like this could really build your resume as Bowman keeps it runs to the spot I imagine where the kicker wants it and it's going to be about a 41 or 42 yd field goal try here from Logan Ward to win the game in overtime but a chance to build the resume for Mike gundy's team here riding on this kick talk divider from the onset Dave there's no question this get a good Arkansas football team they're going to win a lot of games when you look back at this win I think it's going to
