GUI it is very very early but his 77% completion percentage mirrors what he did at Oregon couple passing touchdowns good enough to be top two in the NFL in the preseason doesn't mean a lot but if you've never taken a regular season snap booch this is pretty encouraging and we say hello to Tim Hasselbeck to talk NFL preseason football tonight talk Bo Nicks a guy that the Broncos were were very happy with when they got him in the draft Tim they liked how he prepared they liked his mind son of a coach son of a good player and what are your impressions after you seeing B Knicks play preseason football I think it's been two pretty good weeks in a row uh BCI I I really think he's done a good job um you know making decisions then also letting his athleticism kind of take over and it also feels like with what the Broncos are doing offensively they're trying to feature it you know this is early in the football game obviously move the pocket play he's thrown really well in the Run we've seen him do a good job improvised here's a touchdown pass that gets called back cuz he's over the line of scrimmage but I I think that we've seen elements of him escaping to his left and making plays and then once again a move the pocket play where he's you know quick with the decision and accurate with the football and I think he's just done a good job you could see it last week in terms of things they had designed for him in terms of designed quarterback runs I think movement out of the quarterback will be a big part of what we see out of Denver and it's because of Bo Nick's athleticism and really how he's done a good job with that stuff when they've given it to him this preseason yeah 61 college starts 24 years old he's uh he's certainly primed to go here in the NFL stay right there Tim fantasy or reality man I feel cornered by this question yet I'm still going to say reality and not because it's a defini definitive thing here Caleb Williams is the front runner for it but I think Bo Knicks is playing so well in the preseason that it would be hard to ignore the fact that he is looking like he could be a very successful quarterback very early for the Denver Broncos reality is he will be in the conversation Tim has sea pton found a franchise quarterback in B Knicks I think it's a pretty good shot that he has RC now listen we're you know here we are we put gold jacket on the guy as well too look I just I do think it's been an impressive preseason you know his command yeah I mean listen his command has been really good uh his Mobility has been really good and I think that uh We've started to see Shawn pyton do some things with him that really wasn't doing you know with other less mobile quarterbacks so I think I do think B Nick's going to have a very good season and somebody they can build around in Denver the one thing I love about B nicks's preseason is showing Payton's ability to adjust his offense to his quarterback skill set and I think that's huge here it comes and my eyes see breaking news out of Denver B is a starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos it's bow time I like it I like it time Shawn pton named B Nicks the starting quarterback on the count of three bow said it wasn't anything that uh anything that Jared or or Zach Wilson didn't do it's just what this kid is doing and listen they drafted him 12th overall how about that so we will have three starting rookie quarterbacks in week number one and B Knicks and he's going to get his start in Seattle oh how about that for week one B Knicks in Seattle that's where Denver starts the season and then home for the Steelers and then at the Bucks and at the Jets three of his first four will be on the road home for the Raiders and Chargers after that that's your Broncos schedule that's what bonick will be doing and it'll be bck in New Orleans for Shawn Payton and his return to the Saints I like it a tough it'll be the guy who you know I guess what he's got the anytime Shawn pton Twitches in the in the direction of a quarterback it's he's got very Drew Brees like qualities so there you go so rookie quarterback Gardner muu and that's half of your AFC West momes and Herbert the other and they hope that Nicks can be that guy we shall see now the Patriots are on the clock is Drake May gonna go because JJ McCarthy as you know is out and steart is also on the clock not well no I'm talking about rookie quarterbacks Michael penck Jr isn't starting the rest of the preseason he's not playing the rest of the preseason so it's going to be cousin and Kirk told us yesterday it's going to be him he's ready to go right and that's your what do we call it the the Rattler six Rattler Spencer Rattler was the seventh quarterback seven 18 years from now yeah those six guys were taken and then Spencer Rattler went in the fifth round no quarterbacks between the first dozen picks in the fifth round of the draft in Detroit unbelievable yeah what if I told we'll never see that again right probably not what if I told you six quarterbacks were taken before the Rattler should we call them the Rattler six I I do like that you like that think that's pretty funny that's a good fantasy coming up on rou Sports the r six yeah here's Shawn pton on the decision want to talk real quick about the quarterback position you guys have been real patient I understand you know and and respect that that that process for you and and for us we've had a process um so look Bo Knicks is going to be our starting quarterback um I felt like and I said this to you guys two weeks ago you know that room has been outstanding you know stum certainly with his experience and then you know being able to work with Zach Wilson all three of those guys we've got some tough decisions as we get into the roster I I don't want to get into all the other roster battles that's not for today um but Bo will start congrats to him man 61 career starts in College Auburn and Oregon and go figure that he's a week one starter as a rookie in the National Football League for Shawn pton and then Denver Broncos words that I don't think anybody would have said when Bo Knicks was in Auburn right so it's amazing how things happen obviously changes have taken place with the commanders Dan Quinn is your new head coach and what have you I think the thing that stands out about me for for me doggy number one he's coming from the SEC at LSU we know what he brings to the table in that regard in terms of his athleticism and what have you as I watched him in the pre season he's only had about 29 snaps according to my research had about 29 snaps this preseason he's throwing the ball relatively impressively but the biggest thing they're talking about is that already as a rookie his ability to get the ball out of his hands quickly 1.91 seconds is his average throw before he gets it he gets the ball out of his hands in under two seconds you want some success in the National Football League that tells me something you've got pocket presents you're getting rid of the ball relatively quickly you're not subjecting yourself to punishment and on top of it all when you look at that along with his athleticism I'm going to give the guy a benefit of the doubt and say that he's going to have a chance to challenge Caleb Williams the only hiccup that I would say in that doggy is the weapons that Caleb Williams has available to him and obviously DJ Moore uh Keenan Allen dun out of Washington etc etc having those weapons might put Caleb Williams in an obviously decisive Advantage but I'm just of the mindset that Jaden Daniels is somebody to be reckoned with and I think that he's gonna show some promise and make some noise in the nation's C all Stevie I agree with you look at that great thr made in that Jet game that was a great pass and I think you know here's the thing Stevie that's interesting look at these rookie quarterbacks and we know we need quarterbacks in the NFL the gamees stink without the quarterbacks everybody knows that that's why they get paid 50 million a year but look at them the kid in New England's played pretty well right Daniels you just highlighted very well Williams has been great and B Nick has done a good job in Denver is starting he's done a good job he's so the you got four quarterbacks who are going to start the year they're probably all going to start I'm not sure what the Patriots are going to do with may but they're probably all going to start and that is good for the NFL I mean and then they get Rogers back to boot I mean gez they could have a very fun year with all these QBs now I think your last point is where I'm going to go I think you got to give Williams The Edge as the Rookie of the Year he he's got too many weapons Ste I mean he's got ad who's going to be very good MO is excellent they paid him a fortune he's had a good preseason I've watched a little of Hard Knocks his tight end is good you like that their schedule's pretty easy uh it's the Bears who've never who never have a quarterback I mean there are some teams that just can't get a position suited and the bears at the quarterback spot outside of s Luckman and a little Jim McMahon they're the one team for a 100 years they never have a quarterback so they have a quarterback right now and I think the shy City they can run the ball I think you got to give him the edge for the Rookie of the Year plus he's out a USC icman trophy I would give him the edge for the Rookie of the Year myself but I have no problem with Daniels either Stevie no problem but because of what you said at the end weapons all and look at the bear schedule I mean that schedu look at those first seven games Titans Texans Colts ramps Panthers e for spe spee for e for spe for for for for
