over the past couple years excited to talk about this year could it be a magical year for m brown as you know he's he's up there in age could this be the year they get behind him and and and have a of banks yeah down there all that scattered ass down there you know a lot of nice ass down the Outer Banks I actually don't know if they go to the Outer Banks I think I'm curious where they would most Comm let's be honest yeah I if you're on the East Coast you're going if you're north of Florida Atlantic Beach buddy Atlantic Beach uh Emerald Isles something like that but uh buddy Big Year big I mean we got 12 team playoffs some of those years over over the past few years like North Carolina with knocking on the door midseason a lot of those years um it it's it's going to be interesting to see this year uh where are you at with this program and like I gotta be honest how the [ __ ] did they fumble Sam Hal and uh Drake May Drake may like they just had two really good college quarterbacks and they didn't really they manage over eight wins in either one of those this team hasn't had over eight wins in I looking at the gez it's been a long time no I'm looking at their uh conference late okay uh no eight nine they've had some decent years uh recently I don't like how the hell do they go four and four no uh eight wins last year nine but you're right [ __ ] idiot yeah Drake May uh I I'm going to piss some North Carolina fans off right now I don't know that I think that he was the elite quarterback that everyone thinks he is now supposedly he is playing pretty good ball in Camp right one in 35 years he has one national championship and where you at with him is this the final Harrah he's I know at ACC media days said no no no they're using this recruiting pitch against me or these other schools but I'm gonna be there uh where you at with them I mean the OC is Chip Lindsay the new DC Jeff Collins where you at with this this program and and Coach Mack Brown and and everything well I'll say this uh Jeff Collins's uh record as a head coach at Georgia Tech leaves a little something to be desired he did decently at Temple um chip Lindsay I'm a Believer in he he he's a pretty good OC but I think m brown overall is you know a solid coach he's a proven commodity and he did he's North Carolina's best coach in a long time obviously that was back in the 90s but is he gonna get this program back to where they were in the 90s I don't know that's a good question I do think that like uh the loss of quarter backs is a little overrated because I think he's a good he he his system makes quarterbacks pretty good true I'm just going to prove my my point in a second here but uh first Patty say we do this with all the teams what is the worst loss on here because I got an idea oh Larry Fedora talked a lot of [ __ ] and then uh ECU came in too uh Chapel Hill and dropped 55 on them and then the return game in Greenville was 70 Burger a [ __ ] 70 Burger uh I'm just going to go ahead and say this right now um because when you're at eth Carolina you go for it every time or you don't coach at e Carolina you don't come to eth Carolina you don't play at e Carolina with a weak heart WR it jeez that's three losses there since 2000 by two two ECU by more than 21 points God 70 on those bums all right get the [ __ ] out I mean look I like North Carolina this season but yeah wow 70 to 41 yeah that's getting it done that's gotta be the worst right yeah that's probably the worst see if you are man enough to come back to G Vegas all right see if you're man enough to come back there tarel fans uh anyway let's jump into this Patty see the this is my point the offense a year ago 20th in the nation in scoring seventh in yards impressive 14th in passing 19th in rushing when I see those numbers very impressive well that's when I I say to myself did they waste the season because all you need is like decent defensive play like not even great to be like a 101 win team to me with those numbers yeah with this number seven offense in the nation from a yard I'm saying and and dude they H North the state has talent within the state this is the school that [ __ ] Lawrence Taylor went to you know what I mean like yeah you can't tell me that there's not good like NC States defense mik Tor from Virginia but they're able to get a lot of those guys from Southern Virginia to go there you know so you're right regardless whether it's North Carolina Talent OR access to there's a [ __ ] ton of talent whether it be Georgia Tennessee South Carolina all these states right around North Carolina they have a ton of access to Talent it's a mystery that North Carolina teams haven't been able to get to a national championship level I don't like you gave up 46 points at Georgia Tech last season this is where I will put it on m brown uh and I thought him coming back was a good thing at first but like the part of me is like yeah he did revive it but you gave when you're giving up when you're giving up what what did I say it was to Georgia Tech 46 you're giving up 45 to Duke you know what I mean you're giving up a [ __ ] ton of points 39 to NC State these are not offensive juggernauts you know what I mean at a certain point I think that uh wearing the Columbia Blue or whatever you want to call that color wears off on you a little bit and you just you can't be hard-nosed when you're wearing budy that color powder blue what are you talking about The Citadel has powder blue they've won FCS championships you know what I mean like are we talking about here I I I don't know I have no explanation as to why but they are an offensive routinely offensive Powerhouse but pretty soft defensively almost you know always well that's what my argument is they were number one in the ACC in passing in yards I just I I feel like they should have been better last year uh they get five starters back on the offensive side of the ball led by Omarian Hampton uh wide receiver JJ Jones John copenhaver is back as well uh I I and Nate McCullum I feel like we should mention Nate McCullum is back too uh the former Georgia Tech ramble and wre uh wide out you know the receiving core the more you think about it with Jordan ship coming in who I know they're high on McCullum Jones a couple other guys there Gavin Blackwell um receiving cor is in decent shape uh bringing back the tight end to only two of five on the offensive Lineback kicker Noah Bernett is back as well recing cors a re receiving cor is in great shape I uh what four of the top five receivers are back devontes Walker's gone but like you said Jones McCullum uh Nesbit uh pesur all coming back so they should have targets but the offensive line is and the quarterback really but the offensive line is where there are massive questions uh Willie lampin I believe 49 Stars he is 511 260 the only guy on the offensive line with any starts uh is 5'11 so yeah I would say the offensive Line's a big question mark uh then you look at what what they lost in the portal not I mean Elijah green goes to Indiana DJ Jones to White I do like that get Andre green the wide out to UVA Diego pounds to Old Miss was one that that I feel like uh hurt a little bit there but I mean he's been recruiting at a decent level now he brings in Brad Johnson's son Max Johnson the question is is will he start between him they brought in jacobe chrisell too who was at Arkansas before that he was at North Carolina so he's back what does he Chris Farley go he he's in Chapel Hill he goes to fville AR all back to Chapel Hill um but then they also have uh Connor Harold the o or the the Freshman or the the Young quarterback uh maybe he's a sophomore that uh they're excited about as well yeah um they got a slew I thought they had a freshman too I thought they had a freshman DJ mazone uh I I don't know who's going to start I think the offense will be fine they go and get running back Darwin Barlo from USC tight end Jake Johnson also the son of Brad Johnson from Texas A&M that's a nice kid um off L boys offensive lineman Austin Blas from uh Georgia Georgia bogs jaah left witch from Georgia Tech uh Howard let me talk to Samson from North Texas and Zack Greenberg AO Patty c will this offense mimic last season's numbers uh I have a hard time thinking they're going to replicate the production of last year number seven in the nation just because if nothing else a you lose Drake may you know who's what what was he the number top 10 pick in the draft uh Max Johnson I know Brad Johnson North Carolina native uh had some great years for the Redskins uh great great guy to bring back to the area I think he's gonna have some Mojo that North Carolina you know isn't expecting so I think maybe he'll he'll add some juice to the offense but overall the offense align in a bad place that said Omarian Hampton 1500 rushing yards coming back he's a beast dude he is a beast I I really like game yeah I I think they'll have they'll have I mean ma Brown in general have Caleb Hood too Hood's a beast I I like their dude this offense I think will be fine whoever the quarterback is I think they'll be now I I expect them to be a little bit worse than last year but not in a way because I feel like we'll get to the schedule in a little bit I think they're going to be similar I would be surprised if they're top 10 but uh top 30 top 40 I would expect I think that's what North Carolina generally produces with their offense they they get athletes down there at the receiver position so with copenhaver Bryson Nesbit and Jake Johnson I like the tight end position I I think and shout out to drip Tona who is a tarel fan he's bitter that we just are going live at two in the morning Eastern uh sorry buddy but um it is what it is I mean the offense I think will be fine I really think the offense will be fine uh look we're gonna talk as long as the line uh the line plays well you know they're gonna have to come together yeah Florida State yeah maybe a little you know I don't know if you call that nepotism but uh favoritism yeah potentially so give give old ma Brown a couple of rice puddings and he's happy you know what I mean uh let me ask you this here's a little strange thing our Lads has uh John copenhaver starting over uh Bryson nesbet as the starting tight end nesbet had 41 catches last year copenhaver only 18 I wonder if I mean that's great production either way out of the tight end position how about J Jake Johnson who started a a slew of games at A&M like I said you have three good tight ends tight end you North Carolina Freddy Jones back at it um uh I really think the offense will be good now maybe not as good as last season's numbers but Patty C uh let's let's talk about the defensive side of the ball because I was high on the Jay baitman higher a few years ago that didn't work out what's I don't understand it I just don't understand how you your team is not tougher 72nd in scoring per game 94th in yards per game 94th in pass defense 90th in Rush defense those are all bottom three in the ACC yeah it is very tough to explain this is what I mean by wasting your your good offensive players like if you just were in the 50s or the 40s you don't have to be a top 10 like Lee some of leech's teams would be like in the you know Washington State some of the good years with Tracy clay or Alex Grinch or something they'd get to like 45 55 but you can't be 94th and expect to really contend well you know I I I'll push back on you because uh Washington had a top 10 offense and I want to say there around number 100 defensively so almost miror images with North Carolina last year and Washington the the difference is though I actually think Washington's defense was better than their numbers right because they're playing Pack 12 it's just they played Elite [ __ ] quarterbacks as we saw with the NFL draft and you know shador Sanders who's projected to be a top 10 pick and cam Ward was the highest price Quarterback free agent in the market there so um what what is it about the ACC that like despite having a lot of draft picks and a lot of talent you know keeps them from producing Elite offenses across the board I think it is the trenches maybe you know uh the coastal States tend to produce SK position players the the you know Heartland of America tends to produce linemen I know that's a a generalization but I think it's factual um but wait the pack 12's not getting that either yeah well the Pack 12 well Washington I think just emerged from I think they had a super Elite offense I think that's what Washington had a much more Elite offense even though North Carolina was comparable you know numerically I think Washington's offense was was you know I don't know I it's a good question yeah but the ACC does produce good quarterbacks too they're actually kind of similar to The Pack 12 in terms of the style of play I think ACC plays better defense generally speaking the Pack 12 you know rest in peace played a little bit better offense I don't know I don't know because I would say Oregon and Utah's defense You could argue might be better than every single ACC teams true that that that is a recent development that is true some teams in the Pack 12 got tougher even Washington with Peterson I felt like had a pretty good defense C had a pretty good defense yeah um but yeah I don't know it it's just a blunder for me when I was doing these stats I'm like gosh if they're just like a little bit better you would think they would be winning all these games but six starters are back on the defensive side of the ball so to punter Tom maganus is back as well look it's always good when you got a Marcus Allen on the roster all right um at The Corner Spot they bring back both Corners Elijah huzzy Marcus Allen uh three of four back on the D line Patty C nice uh cman Rucker Kevin Hester Desmond Edmonds power Echo I feel like he's been in college for 75 years he's back uh Cayman Rucker uh 15 tackles for loss eight and a half sacks that's a nice guy to get back that's what I'm saying like I'm kind of bullish on this teams like taking a step forward defensively at least well we'll see how Jeff Collins does because I feel like I I I like the baitman higher when that happened it didn't work out I don't know it's just confusing to me let me ask you this is is the country club uh thing that Mack Brown was somewhat famous for at Texas I don't know if I mean he he is like a CEO kind of Coach you know and I think that worked well for him at UNC the first time I think he's a good coach I think he's able to get talent in I think he's able to uh hire good uh coordinators um at Texas you need to have like a a real CEO approach and be able to work with the support network at your disposal obviously it's not quite as powerful in North Carolina as it was at Texas but still uh I don't know I just feel like there is no explanation I I don't have a good explanation as to why their defense can't go well I'll tell you this like from a broader point of view like Kansas Duke North Carolina these basketball schools Arizona have started to get their [ __ ] together now Florida or North Carolina was always a little bit better at football than all those schools in my opinion like over like 50 years yeah they've been a good program but I almost feel like they like it they should be elite dude I don't understand how they're they like to me they if I was to sum up the past 50 years like it's complete failure in a way like based on the talent that you are surrounded with yeah you should be very very good yeah I would agree with that you know I don't know that they face I mean North Carolina Public Ivy the same thing that Virginia the same thing that Georgia Tech potentially faces with uh you know High academic standards that keeps them from getting you know the the talent that's around into the university although obviously they had their scandals for uh you know I read the Rosa Parks essay dude yeah I don't I I and Virginia quite frankly claims that they can't get uh Michigan just won a national championship they that's another I mean it's a crck of [ __ ] you should be able to get it really is yeah trust me I look at the basketball roster too dude so don't [ __ ] [ __ ] me here yeah Lawrence Taylor was no Brainiac I love LT even though I think he just got arrested like a week or two ago but hey um uh six starters back they the portal did take a few guys uh they lost Bingley Jones to Mississippi State Sebastian cheeks to Wisconsin uh ton Holloway to to Louisville C Cavazos uh to uh to Michigan State but the real one here is Aiden duncanon it's about time he could tell that he was getting a a great a education because he realized that you don't have to be stuck in Chapel Hill that there's better things out there I went through opportunities maybe he went through the wins the head-to-head matchups since they've since the year 2000 and said what why the [ __ ] am I playing ball here all right as he heads off to ECU to win compete for real championship ship um Patty C they did go out in the portal but brought in two guys Joshua Harris on the dine from M Miss and safety jaen Harris from NC State disgusting by the way who the [ __ ] transfers from NC State to to to Carolina I mean I mean there's something for that of all rivals that we play that sound effect for NC State and UNCC seems particularly gross to transfer from one to the other yeah that's it's it's it's horrible yeah I I question everything about uh about what he's doing but [Music] uh uh Patty C you think the defense will be better this year uh it looks like it They're bringing back a lot of talent I mean who who they lose uh Cedric gray they lost to the draft uh uh that's another thing is they got they get guys drafted and you're like wait why are they in the 90s every year yeah it's it's it's a a true [ __ ] mystery man what did they get they got uh only Cedric Gray from the defensive side of the ball last year but they've had other years where like you're sitting there like how the [ __ ] yeah they've had some good good draft picks on the defense side of the B but you know what I'm I'm kind of looking back at it last uh over the years they they get more offensive guys drafted than defensive guys by a lot I don't know which is weird because M Brown's first tenure at North Carolina I feel like they couldn't get offensive guys they would only get defensive guys you know what I mean I feel like all of them were defensive guys um it's interesting right I'm looking back at it right now I mean uh yeah Dre blly and and like there's the slew a great defensive very few offense like uh 1997 uh five uh or four defensive guys drafted one offense 1998 uh he can he can never get both three four five he can never get both at the same time seven defensive guys drafted their defense was nasty in the 90s man yeah they were a great defensive team in the 90s that that struck like Oscar Davenport and Durant and then like they just Chris korf they couldn't get it going they couldn't get it going on the like their quarterback play was shitty now they got the quarterback play but their defense sucks who who' they steal from Virginia gosh Virginia Curry Ronald Curry will hate Ronald Curry forever for that but uh yeah you're right uh Julius Peppers was a great defensive player back in the 90s yeah now buddy you can go on and on and on William Fuller way back like you can just go on and on and on about how many good defensive players came out of there back then yeah and now they can't get much defensive production but the offense is firing it makes zero sense it's a complete mind [ __ ] um all right look had 21 defensive players drafted and only four offensive players drafted I told you I know what the [ __ ] I'm talking about look a lot of people just see me as a drunken idiot all right which I am which I am but I'm a drunken idiot that knows football all right God damn it Patty c um I knew this [ __ ] I could Marcus Jones one of them right they had they had a slew of them Eddie Mason Eddie Mason I think you know like there was just a slew they had some really good linebackers they had some really good DNS Greg was Greg Ellis North Carolina I think Greg Ellis Greg Ellis was I think he was proba little that still I just they had a slew a really good defense I almost want to play a little uh little trivia with you but I know we can't do that right now uhuh they had two two running backs drafted in 1993 can you name that Leon Johnson Leon Johnson's gota be or Curtis Johnson I don't I don't remember which one was first I don't know when he was drafted but it wasn't in 93 let me see if I can find out oh nron means then it was nron means nron means was one of them uh man they had some good backs foron Johnson was 97 who was the other back in uh 93 he was drafted by the New York Giants if you get this one I'll be really impressed man this is a tough one did he play for the Giants he was a Super Bowl champion uh Super Bowl 31 my first thought was William Henderson you won't get this okay no Tommy Thigpen oh man I would have not gotten that but impressive I wonder if he's related to yansy thigpin who went to Winston How can there be yeah uh so uh but yeah I mean look I knew I I didn't know that but I'm said like I knew in my in my mind of watching Carolina football that I knew a bunch of they were a defensive team in the 90s and now they're an offensive team I don't know how because they the same [ __ ] coach yeah so it's like what happened something changed yeah um anyway uh look Patty see the win total is sitting at seven and a half wins to win the ACC championships plus 3,000 to make the 12 team playoff plus 3,000 I love how they actually figured that out a lot of these team previews they haven't been able to figure that out uh you win the ACC you're in the 12 team playoffs so uh to win The Natty plus 40 000 um so essentially what you're saying is you should never have worse odds to make the playoff than you should have to win the unless you're in like the group of five right yeah like uh Patty C this is one that I am intrigued about I think you know I I I've I I looked at the schedule I was asked about it on a radio show recently now I know they won eight games in the regular season last year but what has been their story on like down the stretch they lost the of the season last year yeah they they screw up late in the season I feel like it's a very common thing for like them that they go back the year before they lost their final four games uh yeah it's just something that continuously happens one yeah what I mean like you're right there knocking on the playoffs then the the year before they did the same thing they lost three of four to to to close the season yeah last year what were they seven-0 to start it off six and0 uh and then UVA of all teams in Chapel Hill handed him an L hashtag called that one uh you did on the money line which was one of the best see that one coming uh but I mean it's only because it was like a 21-point line and UVA was losing a bunch of close games and you could just tell UNCC was going to be due I think that's part of their softness you know you know a team that can that can uh run with them and UVA had a bunch of weapons last year I knew it was going to be a back and forth battle I knew it was gonna be a lot closer than that you know what I think though sometimes sometimes I think when there's when they're projected to be good it's almost like a little bit of O of Gundy at Oklahoma State when're Pro yeah and when they're not supposed to be good is when they have their their better years now I know this win total is at seven and a half but like I think most people NC Nick included now NC Nick's a Duke fan but I even the radio show I was on like they were talking like uh yeah it's kind of a rebuilding year I I see watch the schedule Patty C seven and a half is the win total and by the way are asleep here on what could happen and the juice is minus 115 to to the over uh minus minus 115 to the under as well so it's like they're sitting there saying okay like they think seven and five or eight and four somewhere between their Vegas does um uh the I this is such a critical season opener to me yeah Minnesota was bad last year but I don't a Fleck is similar to to what I just said when they're not supposed to be good they're good when they're good they suck um I actually think it's one of the more critical games on the schedule I favor Minnesota but it's a 5050 game to me like I think Carolina I actually think is the more talented team but I think Minnesota it's in Minnesota it's a Thursday night game the crowd will be [ __ ] insane I think it's a significant HomeField Advantage but I think uh Carolina's a significantly better team at they should wi they should win this but I look I have to favor Minnesota because I think they're a more physical football team like Minnesota's defense has been legit right and I they like to run the rock to me when I think about uncc's Rush defense and with unnown know quarterback play going up against the defense that I trust at home I favor Minnesota but it's like by two and a half points I don't expect Minnesota to just run away with i' be lying if I if I could even pick the favorite here I think I feel like you really flip a coin in this game uh Minnesota did what last year they sucked last year actually five five and seven was it yeah they made a bowl though they were five and seven but made a bowl and beat Bowling Green in the bowl so they were six and seven um okay well they they remind me of uh you know the the the road trip to blackburg obviously uh what is the &t bank or whatever Stadium they play at yeah uh in Minnesota is not Lane Stadium but Huntington Bank it is yeah Huntington Bank but the fact that it's a long trip uh out to Minnesota I think it's going to be a similarly challenging situation for North Carolina which could result in a loss especially with Max Johnson uh playing his first game at quarterback I I still want to favor North Carolina so I'm going to call it a 50/50 game I I'll roll with you with a loss here but that means later in the schedule on a true 50/50 I'm giving him a win because this could easily be a win too yeah week two though Biff [ __ ] poi's coming to town and he doesn't put up with your [ __ ] patc he's gonna be fresh off a win against James Madison and he's going to go why not us in Chapel Hill Chapel Hill has never dealt with a man like Biff POI coming to town lock down lock up your sons and daughters H an outlaw yeah it's saying you got a real real I mean I I am I I love this game on the schedule by the way Bravo yeah like you're you're cowards you won't schedule East Carolina which I understand because we keep scoring 60 50 70 on you um I get that so you then you're like okay well let's get Charlotte but you didn't factor in that Biff POI is going to walk through the door but I do think 2 and0 could happen I know we gave Minnesota the win Patty C but like Charlotte they should beat Charlotte easily you agree dude a lot of wins could happen for North Carina in terms of on a neutral site this team is better than its first eight opponents but uh again Minnesota represents a a a big enough Road Challenge that I'm slightly favoring you said one two points probably for Minnesota yeah but I don't feel good about Minnesota like I I just think they're de they're a tougher mentally like they're mentally a tougher team than North Carolina to me I know that Minnesota got ran at Chapel Hill last year but I'm saying in in Minneapolis I think Minnesota and the fact they got the R Who last last year I think added incentive yeah but I mean I don't feel amazing about that that's a 5050 game to me uh I think they get Charlotte I think they get North Carolina Central like the central game on the schedule if you're going to GOC it's a hard loss hosting James Madison it's an absolute loss JMU can Bob Chesney can sing his heart out all right when he drops his country record but uh that he's gonna need to sing his heart out because they're losing this game Patty C I think it'll be a decent game but you I mean based on the fact that jam you has lost so much and they have a new coach you kind of have to favor North Carolina at home here all right now they head to Duke who's also got a new head coach when this is almost like the other 5050 game I don't know if that's fair to North Carolina what what was the uh they won last year in overtime I think or it was a close game but you know M Brown fired manaz at Texas in double overtime so going to Durham year are you listening to me uh they fired M they fired who Manny M Brown fired Manny Diaz Texas okay so Manny Diaz has the new head coach of Duke is going to what be extra motivated to take him down I think so anytime you get fired right so what are you saying you think Duke is gonna be favored here oh no I think North Carolina wins this game I think Duke's in a rebuilding mode right now a little bit so okay so I I actually agree with you I think it's going to be a close game I think uh Manny Diaz is gonna field a decent team uh especially hosting North Carolina but um I think North Carolina should be favored by you know what four here yeah yeah then they're they're home to pit why do I find this game to be their hardest game for them I don't know that you should I feel like on the road it should be at home I feel like they would take care of business against a team like pit you're probably right actually no we should worry about Georgia Tech because they [ __ ] him up every year maybe you know what that's the one we just Georgia Tech three straight wins what five of their last six was it Georgia Tech whoops their ass every time they play doesn't matter who's the coach it's the strangest thing ever so I'll take Georgia Tech to get it done so Minnesota and Georgia Tech I got them five and two at the first buy how about you well you know what that I guess Georgia Tech is probably the one that I'm going to give him the 5050 uh win that they might be taking a loss on I think North Carolina is gonna be six and one coming out going into that buy dude they could be seven and0 I don't think it's that hard this schedule's genius it is and they are capable of doing that they have shown that they don't necessarily stumble out of the gates so seven and0 is possible seven and0 they go to buy and then we got the oldest rivalry in the South uh as they head to Charlottesville to take on Virginia watch watch them lose this they could I think they're so much better than Virginia it doesn't make any sense how they lose to Virginia I think you're sleeping on Virginia a little bit I think uh Tony Elliott with year two with both Tony musket and Anthony well what I'm saying is year two with both of those quarterbacks okay you know uh with experience in his system Malachi Fields is coming back receiver I think this the same thing that threatened and ended up cosing North Carolina the game against Virginia last year will be there this year now Virginia doesn't have all of the weapons on the outside that they had last year but I think maybe uh Tony Elliott is finding a way to replenish that offense he he if anything that's what he's been able to do is go down south where he's from and get some speed on the edges and so that's where North Carolina had the edge over Bronco men hall because he couldn't get that kind of speed in the door uh but Tony Elliott has that answer for North Carolina so I think I I expect another great game and I I I kind of expect Virginia to win this game or expect at least at least I expect I at least expect the second loss on the schedule to happen by this point and you already had that happening that's fair that's fair uh they follow that with out but's going to beat him they they they follow that with back toback away they go to Tallahasse to take on Florida State more on that in a second right yeah um and and they get a buy a week after that they're home to Wake Forest they'll be favored they're at Boston College they'll be favored but that game is sneaky to me because it's probably gonna be like seven degrees on November 23rd and for for the for i i why do I feel like Bill O'Brien is going to upset a top 15 North Carolina uh on on the 23rd but North Carolina uh crapping the bed down the stretch is is pretty characteristic of them so let's let's not act like this would be something new well and then they host NC State to end the season Patty see the point I'm trying to make here is if this is ma Brown there's potential for a magical ending to M Brown's career my point is this I only think truly they should be dogs in one game the Florida State Road game and get this buddy he's never beaten Florida State he's a Florida State Alum he coached at Florida State it makes a lot of sense that like his final year he gets he gets Florida State right they finally beat Florida State it might make a lot of sense if you're trying to write a story book it doesn't make a lot of sense if you're trying to bet this game Florida State's a better team it's in Tallahassee and there's nothing that suggests North Carolina is ready to get Florida State really I don't like do we really think Florida state is some great football team no like but do we really think North Carolina isn't some team I I always feel like they're a team talented it's like they always North Carolina always gives Clemson a hard time I feel like because they have the they actually have the talent whereas like when Virginia plays you know uh Florida State it's it's it's but like or when Virginia plays Clemson it's typically a ball the last time they were in Tallahassee with ma Brown they lost by three my point is this can they finally get over the edge and but believe it or not Carolina's won two of three in Tallahasse but they were under Fedora uh three and 17 all time against Florida State but two of three in Tallahassee and one of those was in 2010 so that's like when when when Florida state was still rolling um they should be playing more frequently than that they've only played twice since 2004 or no what four five times since 2004 even still not enough um my point is is that like you could really talk yourself into a magical [ __ ] season here because like no one's talking about this team we did I no one's talking about this team you're you're right you know what's crazy about this since 2004 in those five games uh four of those were decided by three points or less this has actually become this is my point buddy my point is the talent is not that big the Gap is not that big between Florida State and North Carolina the same way with Clemson look up Clemson a lot of those games are [ __ ] close games man it's just they can't they somehow drop the ball they can't get it done but my point is could this be for ma Brown the year the schedule is there for him to really do this the schedule is very much there dude your ceiling in my opinion is [ __ ] 12 and0 but because how I there something poetic about uh Max Johnson Brad Johnson being a North Carolina native and a recruit of ma Brown at Florida State yeah there would be something poetic about Mac Brown yeah I would love it I mean it doesn't even have to be 11 or 12-0 or 11 and one it can be 10- two and it look if they Lo if one of those losses is at Minnesota to start of the season and their only other loss is at Florida State it's probably a rematch against Florida state in the ACC Championship game that game will be played in Charlotte uh North Carolina yeah I mean they very much could even if it's not the first time around they can get their Revenge spot and then boom find themselves uh a buy into the quarterfinal the Big 12 is getting the headlines for the most unpredictable conference and I understand that I I have a hard time projecting it too I did the Louisville preview earlier today with CJ Sullivan and me and CJ put Louisville in the in in the AC Championship almost without doubt right like I feel very good that Louisville is only gonna have one loss within the ACC okay right uh fact that North Carolina doesn't play them well Louisville doesn't Virginia Tech check us out Louisville doesn't play Florida State Virginia Tech North Carolina or NC State right yeah this new gigantic conferences and you you're going to hear me if you listen to me from from all offseason you're going to hear me beating this dead horse but it is going to [ __ ] over the better schools because like I said Florida State and Clemson probably will be the best two actual football teams but they play each other and also Florida State plays Miami and Florida you had a nine team AC CC the uh the head-to-head uh you know tiebreaker the the one or two games that you didn't play against some of the other teams in the conference might catch you once in a blue moon now when you're only playing half the teams in any given year you know dude my point is this like I don't think I'm gonna make this prediction I don't think Florida State or Clemson's gonna play for the ACC Championship I think it's gon to be Louisville in like either NC State or Virginia Tech or North Carolina uh their schedules break for them all and meanwhile as much as I don't think like I don't think Florida State schedules a gauntlet I think there's enough trip UPS where all if they just lose a second time they're not going to get in one of these teams is gonna get in right North Carolina's schedule breaks you know fantastically within the conference because Duke with the new coach is primed to take a step back Virginia's not there yet they're not Elite that's a winnable game on the road Boston College is a winable game on the road Florida state is the only other Inc conference game on the road so chalk that up one chalk that one up as a loss but uh the 5050 games that they typically would have Pittsburgh Georgia Tech NC State they all get it home well and you could also see like the narrative there mck Brown announc he going out this is his final season they're seven and0 they're going into Tallahasse he's never won against his Alma moer I could just see that them the Mojo they need to win the game but it might help a little bit but yeah my my thing is this there's a solid chance as far as power five teams go there is a solid chance Patty C that they're playing just two bow teams uh if you listen to our Georgia Tech preview go listen to it but we have them at five at seven pit it was horrible last year I'm I'm on the fence with them this year Duke I have them not making a bow uh virgin I have them not making a bowl Wake Forest I think is probably probably not going to make a bowl Boston College if you listen to our preview I don't have them making a bowl so it's like the Minnesota I I actually do have Minnesota making a bowl but but Minnesota has a very hard schedule in the Big 10 I think one of the harder schedules in the Big 10 yeah but my point is there's a shot that the only Bowl teams on this [ __ ] schedule are NC State Florida State and JMU yeah JMU being a group of five uh I think you're right and they get two of those three at home look the number is what again seven and a half seven and a half I'm leaning to like a nine and three season I think that's what they're going to get you know with a 10 and two being more likely than an eight and four almost well in my opinion they're the more talented roster in at least 10 games yeah the only ones you can make the argument for is Florida State and ncy State to me yeah and and you could make the argument for the NC game I would I would say NC State's a little more talented this year but the the game is in Chapel Hill on the last game of the season so based on that flip a coin you know buddy if they lose to me the Florida State game could be everything but Florida State might have a second loss so if that's their only loss if they beat NC State who cares about the Minnesota game then my point is is if they only lose to Florida State and Florida State say loses to Clemson yeah they don't need Breer yes yeah they they they outright beat Florida State on conference wi then you're gonna have North Carolina Louisville or North Carolina NC State or something and if you have that Carina yeah in the [ __ ] playoffs so not not only do you take I think the smartest beted here well I like the seven and a half I'll take the over on that but I think the smartest bet is the plus 3,000 on the ACC Championship um well let me ask you this uh plus 3,000 on the college football playoff if they were to lose say they the same as ACC Championship yeah yeah might be better to do it for that they have an opportunity to maybe get in as an at large that's fair that's fair most of them the odds are better for the ACC Championship the playoff yeah exactly exactly you get like a A plus 4,000 on the uh conference Championship and then a plus 3,000 on the 12 team playoff which makes no sense as we pointed out but uh yeah in this situ situation since you have even odds I think the fact that a yeah you're guaranteed to get to the 12 team playoff if you win the championship and there's a little chance that you can get in as an at large yeah you gota I would say take the 12 team playoff as your best bet it's an incredible schedule this is what I mean Florida state twice if if if if they go 11 and one and lose to Florida state in the regular season and then lose to Florida state in the college uh in the ACC Championship again and end up 11 and two if we just go chalk on every single game on an individual game by game basis and that puts them at 11- two at the end of the season do they get in I think so I think an 11 and two team with their only losses being against a college football playoff team with it being and imagine if he announces it's his final season too they're not going to do that to m brown give him a little little nudge there yeah I think the Florida North Carolina rather has decent odds to make the playoff this year but but you said something I don't think they're playing Florida State dude I think this is this this new [ __ ] in college football that's why they're going to expand the playoffs right away you're not looking at the best teams you're looking at the best schedules and to me when I look at Syracuse's schedule don't laugh folks it is a it's realistic to think that they could get to an ACC Championship right when I look at NC States it's realistic to to think they could go to their first ACC Championship ever by the way right uh when I look at Virginia Tech very realistic when I look at Louisville's I if you listened to our preview earlier today I said Louisville is going like I feel very good Louisville might lose Notre Dame they might lose to Kentucky but guess what AC they're gonna be favored in every ACC game not at Clemson so one loss is going to get you into the AC Championship let me say this about North Carolina though we are IGN oring the fact that this is the same case with them every year that they should be favored never been this hard of a it's never been this easy of a schedule yeah you're right no Miami no Clemson dude I I I'm not trying to downplay these other teams I really think they're probably gonna play three Bowl teams no Louisville maybe Minnesota is the fourth but that game's irrelevant on getting to the college football playoffs could be a nice year in Chapel let's see if they got it let's see if they can uh put it together in that fairy ass powder blue for one season that's why they shouldn't leave the conference because if you join the Big 10 or SEC you're never gonna get a schedule like this man you're in the basement forever you're never gonna get a schedule like you legit have a shot every year no one's talking about you this year you're Kansas yeah oh man I'm all in the over I feel good about it I feel pretty good about the over and I think the theing the the the the plus 3,000 let's go to make the 12 team I think you do that since it's the same odds as the ACC Championship you might as well just take the play yeah take the the 12 team play off to cover your ass a little bit yeah uh I'm fascinated by this season by this G I'm fascinated by these gigantic conferences because this 12 team model was ba they concocted this 12 team model in like 2017 if you if you know the history of this thing it was based on 10 to 12 to 14 team conference not 17 18 team conferences so you're going to get a lot more like crazy scenarios in the championship game with an auto bit on the line we'll see if you're right but uh you you have a a theory that makes sense they well I was right last year with Louisville getting there just not they were not the second best team same with Oklahoma State yeah but that was in smaller conferences yeah all the conferences have since grown so yeah I mean I think I think let's let's take a look and see if that happens but I think you might be right because a lot of paths suggest that you know some teams that otherwise wouldn't make it there are going to make it there yeah yeah what's the floor here what's the shittiest season that could happen here lost to Minnesota lost to jamu maybe or Duke uh I mean they could come out of the first uh seven weeks with like three losses the floor is what six and six let seems going to be a bull Team yeah I think the FL especially with this schedule like they're more talented than almost realistic if we're hating on them then maybe five and seven but I think floor is is six and six yeah I do too folks over is Stadium too though but no Keenan Memorial is a beautiful Stadium I've been there you know East Carolina's dropped 70 there and uh no 55 there but uh but no um it is a beautiful stadium and I I the fact that you can play at the same place as some of the the the great you know I think that's one of the things lost in in the NFL and lost in in in general and and sports is it's become so corporate what's great is every Saturday you get to go to the same place in Chapel Hill there if you're a fan or if you're a player that Lawrence Taylor was dominating you know Natron means we referenced earlier you know there's so many good players throughout the the the state of North Carolina you know University of North Carolina historically Harris Barton all that [ __ ] like you can go on and on and on about how many good players have been there and uh I I feel like that's awesome and honor that and that's why it's fantastic that's why it's Unique it's got soul it's got substance it's not a
