players go but but uh you know it is it is part of it and you're you're hoping that they get a great opportunity there and play well how important to you is the value of having at least one left-handed starting pitcher yeah no especially in this ballpark you know this ballpark is really geared to for left-handed starters and you've seen us we've had our trouble with left-handed starters here and not only do we have a left-handed lineup but that's why most teams the first two guys that come out of the pen are usually left-handed or or reverse because the ballpark so big and left so to have a left-handed starter here is going to be big toi's manager Brandon Hyde more the pregame coming up on the Orioles radio network attention all music lovers welcome to Columbia Maryland's live average he has worth 119 Innings on the year there was some chatter a few weeks ago that maybe his name would be among those who would be traded at the deadline he ends up staying put as he's a piece that is still controllable for the Blue Jays over the next couple of years as Toronto is going to try and compete in 2025 after this year has not been what they were hoping it would be the umpires for Rogers and Jimenez as well as Gregory stto the deal that we heard about after the 6:00 deadline had expired those are your moves at the trade deadline for the Orioles this year now we focus on some baseball on this Tuesday night as Burns raises the leg in his first pitch of the game is a high popup right side of the infield coming on Fourth the second baseman Westberg on the infield grass he makes the catch for out number one now the Orioles they add couple of relievers one right-handed one left-handed they had a guy in Jimenez hasn't hit for a whole lot of power this year but has done well against left-handed pitching from a batting average perspective and then you add couple of starters in Zack effin who started yesterday and then Trevor Rogers a Leander pitch hel offering as a strike in the middle of the pl o and one Rogers figures to be in the back end of the Orioles rotation along with Dean Kramer oh and one one here against varo batting at just 199 stocky left-hand hitter and he'll swing and miss and 96 mph cutter it's no balls and two strikes first pitch today was at 6:36 and the temperature 79° and cloudy skies above a little bit humid o and2 Burns deals and a swing and Miss strike three good morning good afternoon and good night Dalton barow came out of with a another cutter and so a first strike out for burns two outs no score in the first Vladimir Guerrero Jr is coming up we said the time int brought to you by the Maryland Energy Administration oh sated you see the Maryland Energy Administration is working to deliver better energy from Maryland you can learn more at energy. maryland.gov here's Vladimir Guerrero Jr right on right with Burns will deliver a strike over the inside corner o and one Burns his 245 earn run average the second lowest in the major leagues as here comes the next off ring it is off the inside corner one ball and one strike an Innings eater whoes at 10 and 32 coming in the Orioles have won 14 of Burns's 21 starts this year here's a 1-1 and Guerrero pops it up off the end of the bat first base side and into the seats taking it one ball and two [Music] strikes Guerrero is down in the count yesterday went seven for 10 over the double header and racked up the extra base hits two homers drove in five runs and had three doubles one two bounced in the dirt it's two balls and two strikes for the year hitting at 311 with 21 home runs on base plus slugging over 900 which is excellent he's fourth in the American League in hits and his 311 batting average is also fourth 22 shot foul at home plate a guy that orol elected the pitch to a couple times last night but you probably don't have to if you don't want to just because of the rest of the blue J's lineup after Guerrero Deuces Wild Burns deals and that is floated out to right center field that'll fall in there for a single Burns stayed in came in with a 98 Mound hour cutter but Guerrero fought it off feathers is single in the right first Toronto hit Spencer Horowitz is next a strike out that burns had a varo for every strikeout thrown by an Orioles pitcher this season Autumn Lake Kare makes a donation to the Alzheimer's Association Autumn Lake healthc care Senior Care and Rehab for life's curveballs two outs a man at first nothing nothing are score and here comes Horowitz left-hand hitter Burns begins with a curveball and misses low for ball one cutter for burns averages 95 curb in the low 80s slider change and sinker is among the major league leaders in strikeouts off of his breaking pitches throw goes over to first base and Guerrero scampers back be looking for his 11th win tonight well facing a Toronto team that is in the bottom of baseball in a lot of offensive categories one another count Burns leg kick and pitch and that is rolled foul past the first base bag one and one yesterday the Blue Jays lost one key offensive piece they traded Justin Turner actually during first game of the double header yesterday he went to the Seattle Mariners and then the Blue Jays also dealt Kevin ker one and one Guerrero is going as that is fouled at home plate one ball and two strikes Guerrera would have had that stolen easily but horo with swung if there is one knock against Corbin Burns as we know it is the stolen bases allowed he's given up 25 stolen bases when he's on the mound and that is most by any pitcher in baseball he's ahead of hit one and two two out outs no score and Guerrero a little ways off first and now time called by Horowitz Outfield station straightway the Orioles in their white uniform powder blues for Toronto tonight earn off the first base side of the rubber sets just below 39 on his white top the one two breaking ball in the dirt did he check no he did not tag appli by Rutman horo with to strike out Vic them off of burn slider and the inning is over so the two out single leads to nothing after a half it's a blue jays nothing and the Orioles coming up on the Orioles hits it on the ground to third Gonzalez this is so good do you have a guess oh my goodness wow you got to be kidding [Music] me bz hits it on the ground to third Gonzalez so good oh my goodness wow you got to be kidding me you've got to be kidding me stole a run byas Elmo indeed again Blanco one pitch away ground ball duban throws the first no hitter ronal Blanco in his eighth career start the 30-year-old makes Magic on April Fool's Day today he makes history visit ppbi.com today that's PB pv.com remember business grows with PBI I'm Brian nean join me weekday mornings 5:30 to 10 with C4 on wbl radio kban Burns two strikeouts in a scoreless first inning and now it'll be cower Rutman and Henderson facing off against Toronto right-hander Chris Basset making his 202 start 89 378 ER he struck at 112 and 119 Innings 47 walks 11 home runs Al opponents at 263 off the native of Toledo Ohio his first pitch here a strike 93 about hour Sinker over the outside corner Chris Basset throws a lot of pitches and that would be an understatement as cowser awaits in the left-and Box the kick in the 01 foul away on a line third Bay Side no balls and two strikes try and follow me here Brett Sinker cutter curve sweeper change split slider for seam fast ball it's a lot I heard he was also working on a hesitation pitch but that one is still being tinkered with in the bullpen what about a hero ball the 02 line foul off the net Third Base side I mean now you're just getting greedy like the one dice G matu zaka used to throw yeah Chris Bass throws back about as many pitches as Satchel Page as the two- strike offering comes in from the right-hander and cower will take outside one ball and two strikes for Basset it's been a rough July he's worked to a 623 erray in his last start the Blue Jays were beat by the Rays 13 nothing a onew fouled away into the third base stands it remains one and two gave up three runs overall in five innings a lot more damage after that this is the first time that bid is seeing the Orioles this year face the O twice last the Orioles had pretty good success against him a onew cowser it's a line drive in right that's a base hit man another H for Colton cowser out of the leadoff spot and the leadoff man on base for the Orioles with adley Rutman stepping up to the plate he continues to hit he's been hitting out of the lead off spot got ever since Sunday and he now has a 12 game hitting streak where he is 16 for 41 that's going to send adley Rutman up to the plate Rutman batting average down at 263 and this offering is outside one ball and no strikes he's gone one for 12 on the home stand if you want to go back to his last 24 games hitting just 189 though in game two yesterday after he did not play in game one some much better at bats some louder contact and while maybe for Rutman he wasn't awarded with any hits they look like the type of bats that you expect from Rutman the 1 oh outside two balls and no strikes yeah I think a lot of what happened to the deadline it's almost hard to process because the Orioles made just a bevy of moves particularly right before the clock uh expired I would say in this deadline but it's a message I think from Mike Elias 20 pitch outside again ball three now the Talon is in place here and now and he expects players to perform up to their capabilities and career numbers and we haven't seen that from adley for a month but that will end three balls no strikes no score bass it hward and and this is a wide strike might have been a little off the outside corner but it was good enough for Jonathan parro you figure Rutman will get it turned around gunar Henderson continues to work Colton cowers had a great July batting out of the leadoff spot now Anthony s has provided a lift 3-1 popped up foul third Bas side and over about the last 10 games you're starting to see the runs per game go up but the Orioles on the pitching side need to do a little bit better and they also need to play better defense coming into Yesterday the Orioles had -3 defensive run saved in the month of July not good 3-2 cowser is going swinging to miss strike three Kirk's throw down to second base got it cower points towards the Dugout for now it is a strike him out throw him out but Freddy Gonzalez is on the phone and the Orioles will determine whether or not this should be [Music] challenged and Leo Jimenez did get cower along his left side as we see the replay right before his left hand could go to the back part of the bag strike him out throw him out two six on the caught stealing and now here's Henderson with two outs first pitch breaking ball is a strike over the outside corner it's 0 and one backing up basset it's Guerrero at first Spencer Horowitz at second Leo Jimenez at Short Ernie Clement at third Stewart barough at Dalton Baro Addison Barger left to right in the Outfield with Alejandro Kirk catching the1 and that's smashed foul off to the third base side no balls and two strikes Anderson back at Short Stop today against Basset and his career he's gone three for six with a couple of home runs and that included gunar Henderson first ever Grand Slam nothing nothing base is cleared two outs B it leans in goes into a wind up high leg kick and 02 down and Away Miss there with a change up it's one and two and then yesterday Henderson did not play in game two Jordan Westberg made the start at shortstop had a tough game defensively committing two errors one-w pitch that is over the head of Kirk and the back stop with a change up again and I guess it slipped as it went flying off the bricks behind Home Henderson back in there at Short Stop today has committed five airs in his last five games two and two two outs next pitch and that is stroked foul down the left field line in game one yesterday the Orioles took great at bats scored 11 runs 13 hits a lot of extra base hits in the night cap the Orioles battled offensively early and it looked like the had bats in the first few innings were what the orals were taking in game one and then the offense went really cold against the Blue Jays Bullpen 22 inside that goes right across the inside chalk line as it misses and it's three and two and then after the Orioles got to bound Francis early the blue jay starter they kind of let him off the hook 3-2 pitch that is low Shin high ball four passid hands out a walk and the Orioles a two out base runner for sun tond there and that walk it is brought to you by the Good Feet store you can get out of pain and back to doing what you love at the Good Feet Store go to goodfeet.com to find a store near you and book your appointment today very muggy and very humid out the oros are making Chris Basset work Jeff here's this pitch and it is high one ball and no strikes it is still a little bit unpleasant if we're being honest and you're an honest guy I mean I'd like to pride yourself on being honest too as that breaking ball is down and in two balls and no strengths we like to tell it like it is here and it is bit humid but there is no rain yet and is the most important thing two and0 against sere up to 30 home runs now after he hit one game one the two- pitch that is smashed Fair down the left field line it'll roll to the corner in left baroa retrieves it they're going to wave around Henderson relay throw comes in it will not be thrown home it's a double for Anthony sere with two outs going to the opposite field left-handed and the Orioles with a one- nothing lead and Jeff Henderson never broke stride I'm thinking off the bat he'll be at third base but he just kept on going and baroa I think let the wall play him a little bit in the corner and it took him forever to get it back towards the infield we saw that yesterday from the Blue Jays in left field Mar Hearn triple that was eventually ruled a double here's pitch to Rhino Hearn left-and hitter will a strike over the outside corner I mean today it is the first time that steuart broa is playing Left Field at Camden Yards so maybe a lesson learned for him for the Orioles they will take the Run o and one the next pitch oh Hearn tried to check did he yes say his third base umpire Jor Valentine One ball and one strike one and one as the Orioles strike first against Chris Basset check of second one-1 offering that pitch is borderline but ruled High two balls and a strike gotten at Chris Basset Oriol gotten to a lot of American League East starters and it's a big reason why a team batting average of 300 that the O's have the best record of any team inside the Vision 2-1 pinch grounded foul pass Anthony Sanders in the first base coach's box two balls in two strikes overall the Orioles 21 and 10 against the American League east and are at least 500 against every team they've played two and two with Mount Castle On Deck oh Hearn drives it foul off to the left side and a fan here made a nice catch give that fan a contract what a snag young fan stuck his left hand up and came down with the baseball if only you could do that that's how it's done this is the 28th pitch of the inning for Basset one- nothing OES two two pitch in the dirt from Basset 3 and two now this is what we saw from the Orioles yesterday Ariel Rodriguez get knocked out after 2/3 of an inning and the Orioles offense has been pretty suffocating so far against Basset with all the pitches [Music] Taken full count offering coming here it is and oarn slaps it foul over to the first Bas sidewall it's a half game lead for the Orioles entering today in the American League East the Yankees they're already leading one- nothing over the Phillies and Citizens Bank Park and Yankees had a huge win over Philadelphia yesterday three and two pitch home oh Hearn lines another one foul into the third base stands this has got to be frustrating for Chris Basset last year the Orioles when they saw him at Rogers Center they jumped on him early and then the same thing was the case cam yards the year prior 3-2 pitch Line Drive foul down the right field line so Ryan oarn he is making it as hard as possible for Basset to escape this inning this will be the 10th pitch of the advat to oarn with sander second after he drove in Henderson now Hearn has not gotten a fast ball yet on T there hands on hips lead away from second base Jimenez bird dogs at Short Stop 32 oarn puts it in the air left center field coming on is Baro he pulls up and he makes the catch head level to end the inning but the Orioles do get a run thanks to S's dou and at the end of one Orioles W Blue Jays nothing on the Orioles radio network at Hollander and Ryan leko with you riy ree Lev is back high top TV Hill tonight and do we we still remember him right as the pitch comes home to Kirk one nothing Orioles it's a strike in the middle 0 and one I think he's getting lonely well that's definitely true he's lonely guy to begin with o and one the count on the stocky right hand hitter the pitch from Burns is yanked down and away one ball and one strike it'll be Kirk and then Clement and Barger in this inning RBI double from Anthony sandir got gunar Henderson home Corbin Burns a single allowed to Vladimir Guerrero Jr but two strikeouts and no other damage one and one the count here it comes breaking ball perfect over the outside corner one ball and two strikes that was painted over the out of third of the plate alahandra Kirk he is now the everyday Blue Jays catcher after one of the trades that they made the one-w pitch rolled on the ground at the short stop charging is Henderson thr sidearm to First and retire Kirk there's one out and one of the first moves that the Blue Jays me made was to send Danny Janson from Toronto to the Boston Red Sox they were very active in dealing off of their major league roster us Kikuchi went to the Astros Jimmy Garcia went to the Mariners Isaiah Conor FFA was on the injury list but he got trade to the Pirates pitch here breaking ball a strike into the right-handed hitting Clement 0 and one Justin Turner was traded during the game yesterday game one between the Orioles and blue jays he heads to Seattle then Kevin kerm goes to the Dodgers the 01 pitch check swinging a breaking ball and Clement didn't go one ball and one strike as the Blue Jays they wanted to deal from guys who were on expiring contracts but keep their main people in place to make a run in 2025 1-1 sinking fast ball is low Burns got that one to 99 two balls and a strike yeah I have the Blue Jays trading about seven Major Leaguers in the last 5 days or so 21 put in the air foul down the right field line even count against Clement and the Orioles this is about as active as you can get I mean we don't know really the extent of it because one move leads to another move which leads to another move I think there'll be some major roster changes coming the days ahead we know that Co Irvin right before today's game was designated for assignment two2 breaking ball slapped out to Short Stop Anderson's got it on the first for out number two of the second inning one- nothing Orioles leading and now it's barger's turn so I think there are going to be some more moves coming how to make this all fit at the major league level and Below but I have to go back and go year by year but a very different situation maybe this blue jays Situation's more of a a perfect comparison but the 2000 Orioles that trade away so many of their Major Leaguers Sly at the deadline pitch in ground ball to the hole at second base fielded by Westberg he'll sidearm to first base three ground ball outs from Corbin Burns two to Henderson one to Westberg it's a 1 two 3 second and that's today's fast play of the game brought to you by the Maryland Lottery but if you go immediately and throw that change up it would be absolutely nasty two two he struck him out there's the change up Terk scoble hangs on to the lead got him Change Up Down strikeout number 12 matches the career high for Terk scoel head to the eighth inning Tigers hold on to a 2-1 lead Tyler O'Neal has homered on opening day in four straight [Laughter] openers Tyler O'Neal has just set a record by homering in five consecutive opening days he's got Orioles up one- nothing courtesy of Anthony santand there the pitch to Mount Castle is taken for a strike over the inside corner it's 0 and one out Castle yesterday hit his latest home run against Toronto 19th against the Blue Jays in his career breaking balls in the dirt it's one ball and one strike now this here against the Blue Jays he's only hitting at 242 but three out of his eight hits are long balls he's driven in seven runs the kick the 1-1 breaking ball is flared left center field coming hard forward is varo he'll make it to the spot Aro is shaded the other way but crossed in the right on right with Basset and Basset throws a sinker at the knees for a called strike Westberg maybe had a tough day at Short Stop the double header but played a really well overall he finished five for eight the 01 he socks this one down the right side chasing it is Barger and he's out of room ands a few rows back Beyond some Wise Market signage down the right field line o and two and three doubles in game one he's got consecutive games with back to- back hits and RB oh and two the C Cedric Mullins awaiting on deck on this cloudy and humid night big deep breath here by Basset the o02 coming breaking ball is off the outside corner one ball and two strikes in case you missed this talking about let's go through the Orioles deadline moves again Orioles they help out their Bullpen by getting Sir Anthony Dominguez and then they also acquired Gregory stto right as the Clock Was striking six one two outside side with a breaking ball two balls two strikes those are two separate trades for the Phillies days apart that's correct and to get stto the Orioles gave up one of their best prospects and maybe their best pitching Prospect in Seth Johnson into the motion here's the 2-2 from Basset yanked it outside it's a full count so a couple deals made with the Phillies Orioles stuck in the National League East to get a starting pitcher and it came at a price you get Trevor Rogers got a couple of years of control left but you gave up Conor Norby and Kyle Stow two guys that are ready for consistent Major League playing time 3-2 pitch chopped to Third Base backing up on it is Clement picks it unloads to First out Big Stretch by Guerrero who almost did the splits at first base Adrien Johnson calls Wester out it was a close play and the Orioles aren't going to challenge it as it looked like Clement misjudged it and then one he grabbed it he quickly had to unload but Guerrero helped him out second out of the inning Orioles one blue J is nothing and then the Orioles they also added Christian Pache Zack effin and then they've got aloy Jimenez pitch here fouled back for strike one Orioles were really active they help out their Bullpen a little bit but they are going to be really leaning on this offense to perform as you said right to its capabilities A1 Mullins slaps it foul to the screen strike two you look at the two starters that were added in Rogers and effin and you like the fact they're under control for a couple of seasons for Rogers through next season for effin and given the nature of the pitching injuries I think that was a big part of it one thing that's interesting I'm sure a lot of fans think the Orioles were very cautious with prospects today the Orioles and this is not even mentioning the trade that L at effin three lower level prospects but three talented players nonetheless the Orioles traded 02 pitch chopped at home plate foul I mean if you want to call Star and Norby still prospects they were still technically uh rookies based on based on service time three of their 10 112 best prospects were traded at this deadline by Baltimore that's not that conservative unless you're Hope was that the Orioles would move baso holiday or Mayo which it would take something extraordinary for that to happen the 02 breaking ball is outside one ball and two strikes and again I always tell fans we never really know who's available we assume certain players are available and then we don't know at what cost on nothing Orioles one and two two outs base is clear bass it to Cedric and it's off the fist popped up foul behind home plates the count remains as is we'll find out maybe in the days ahe take TK scoo for example obviously a really intriguing player because he's such a good pitcher he's left-handed he's under Club control for a few more years the assumption that the Tigers were going to just give him away when they're trying to contend in the future as well onew pitch serve deep left center field Faro angling back makes the catch short of the warning track and ends the inning so it is a 1 two 3 second for Basset as we move to the third Orioles lead the Blue Jays won nothing on the Orioles radio network hey o hands you go there you go R you go pay off in a big spot right here sends it deep the other way Donovan backing up to the track to the wall and paven Smith hits one off the wall this will get two runs home 8 to one paven Smith the other way and paven trying to unload sends one out to right and it's in the bullpen for a grand slam for paven Smith and it's 14 to one he's having quite a night six rbi's [Music] and now he hits a high drive left center field and jumping at the wall and making the catch is doltan varo Holy cow Dolan varo with absolute robbery at the left field wall Rodriguez takes his cap and points out F WBAL news radio 1090 FM 101.5 in the WB app Orioles leading the Blue Jays one to nothing we start the third 89 and one up for Toronto against Corbin Burns and end with a playby playay on trade deadline day how about that WB holiday Jeffrey my boy great to see you belly Newman in the house Ryan leco one nothing Baltimore top three and this is hit F out of play off to a right by Leo Jimenez the blue jay's Short Stop on this night I'm Brett Hower making the call with Jeff Arnold and if you need a lawyer make the call to Miller Stern lawyers at 410 Law Firm your Baltimore area personal injury and medical malpractice legal experts the1 s wing and a miss nasty slider by Burns and it's 0 and two a lot happening tonight you have two evolving rosters in this game and no one cares about our problems Jeffrey but you have two teams in this series just very active at the deadline the 02 that skips in the dirt one and two we have been informed that orio's Executive Vice President and general manager Michael lias will join us in the fifth to get a breakdown to the trade deadline the onew that's low for a ball two and two also a very special guest will be joining us in the next few Innings and I hope everyone indulges us a little bit this gentleman will actually be doing play byplay for a few Innings tonight the 22 swing and a miss a sinker at 98 in on the hands of Jimenez and he's a strikeout victim to begin this top of the third and that gentleman probably a very familiar name to all of you who will be joining us and that's Mark vivano recently retired from WJZ in Baltimore longtime sports caster one of our alltime favorite people he will be joining us in this broadcast Booth coming up and we can't wait as stor baroa looks at one down and it's one and0 Viv is one of our all-time favorites in fact many years ago I interned on his old radio show on an old station 1300 a.m. I was home from college for the summer the 1 that fast ball in the outside corner 101 we became colleagues years later at was what was then CBS Radio in Baltimore and Mark has recently retired set his standard not only for being a great TV broadcaster but one of the kindest gentlemen you'll ever meet this has popped up sh left Anderson calling for it waiting for it to finally come down it does and that's out number two right now Burns is cruising yeah I'll never forget Brett when I came here to Baltimore and you've been around for a while but I was new and one of the first guys that reached out and uh lent an ear and a helping hand was Mark vivano he's somebody that we always loved seeing and we're still going to see him at the ballpark but nice thing for him is it'll be a lot of time spent with his boys and his my wife George Springer takes a strike 01 the third inning is brought to you by John Hopkins Brady Urological Institute pioneering Urological advances Diagnostics and treatments to shape the future of urological care base is empty in two away 01 to Springer chop foul into the Toronto Dugout 0 and two great punch out so far for burns he's just one over the minimum Burns works from the stretch where the base is empty his pitch swing and a miss he struck him out a slider by Burns two punch outs in the third he's just one over the minimum he has four strikeouts already and we'll head to the bottom of the third here at Camden Yards on a mugging ho night for baseball one drilled deep right field way back and G for a home run Jose Ramirez with a two out two run Homer makes it a 4run third inning for the guardian and for Cleveland that is now their 13th home run they have hit this year with two outs and a runner in scoring position they hit 12 all of last year [Music] can you find pet Alonzo in this sea of Mets Fano Alonzo drives one deep left field and it's out of here P Alonzo in his second home R of the day Pete Alonzo keeps on raking just very strong and there he is [Music] [Music] got him for tickets and info visit Trifecta festival.com hi this is Tory snow be sure to catch my show weekday afternoon from 2 to 6 p.m. on wbl Radio One nothing Baltimore bottom three at Camden Yards Chris Basset allowed a run in the bottom of the first and that's been all the scoring so far tonight game three before game set pass it the veteran right-hander will face uras cower and Rutman here in the bottom of the third and this is chop Third Base side and it's just foul wide of the bag o and one 48 pitches already for bass H he had a very long first first but the Orioles were able to just scratch out one run they have two hits against Chris Bass on one to Ramone and the right-hander deals orus looks at a strike outer half at the knees 0 and two o and two to raon it is a really muggy night here in downtown Baltimore the O2 that breaks down the way one and two now Jeff Arnold might need to be fine for something that just happened and we run a pretty tough Kangaroo Court around these parts but Jeff took off his headset with a microphone with his mic still on you may have heard it and it made a terrible sound he apologizes the one two orus takes a fast ball high two and two did I do that you did I think it's a dollar in the swear jar too oops very unlike you you've set a standard for professionalism only everyone else is matched two and two to Ramone pass it works from the stretcher the base is empty the pitch poke out to right field and fairly deep has some carry barer is back turning around and that Baby's Gone an opposite field home run for Ramon two to nothing Baltimore and on this humid and muggy night you get one up there it's going to travel and that did and for rone number five that is good to see buus has had a tough go as of late looked better at the plate yesterday but he's he smacks one there to right field just to the left of the scoreboard as cowser takes a fast ball in one and0 so the Orioles out to a two nothing lead the pitch cowser rips this into the right field he's two for two a base hereit for Colton he is red hot cowser already extended his hitting streak with his first inning single that hitting streak is now at 12 and now Rutman will bat with one on the base is empty that A's home [Music] run the Orioles now have 167 home runs this season home run count is brought to you by ground Loop geothermal this season not all the magic is on the field it's time to let the ground you walk on heat and cool your home or business big cut there by anley FS it out of play off to the left so cowser on the first he was caught stealing back in the first Anderson is on Deck I think these are Big Two gam for the Orioles the pitch adley into center field that's a base hit cower will stop at second good swing there by adley he needed that first and second with nobody out in the bottom of the third Jeff mentioned this that it looked a lot better for Rutman last night he struck out his first time up tonight but that time smoked a single to Center and here comes Gunner that home run by Ramon Rus that is your Baltimore area Honda dealers Long Drive of the game drive into loanda dealer today Orioles right now coming out firing at this point given the moves and the state of this blue jays Bullpen it is a beleaguered one a bullpen that just lost two of their best in Trevor Richards and Jimmy Garcia in trades a bullpen that coming into this Series yesterday was ranked 29 out of 30 teams in ER and first in home runs allowed Gunner is up nobody out a run in two nothing Orioles bottom three Basset checks the runner at second now comes home and Henderson takes a strike at the bottom of the Zone Henderson thought it was low right on left and the pitch big cut and a miss on a slow Hook by Basset ow and2 [Music] Anthony sandir is already driven in a run with an R RBI double is on Deck chance for a beginning here in the bottom of the third you'd love to give your Ace a lead and get into that Toronto Bullpen Gunner takes one high for a ball one and two also quick turnaround to tomorrow daytime baseball schedule the ballp park 1235 first pitch Grayson Rodriguez on the mount for the Orioles one and two to Gunner here's the pitch Anderson slashes it's the other way foul Over The netting down the line pretty good contact but well out of play think gunar wants some fresh pine tar on it he'll go to the on Deck circle after calling time and Anthony santand there hands him the tar and Gunner applies it to the handle one and two to Henderson I'm thinking Jeff we have Mark vivano joining us in the top of the fourth should we make him just jump right in and do the game he's handled surprises before is that cruel the onew Anderson bites this off and fouls it right back behind on plate it remains one and two I mean if you're going to work as a Sports Anchor reporter host for as many years as he did at WJZ and then don't forget about his time at CNN SI and other places too I think if you said hey Viv time to go I I think you can go the one-w pitch upstairs to Gunner 2 and two orio's already with five hits so far mention the bullpen oddly enough the Orioles played two games yesterday and did not use so many of their key leverage arms Sir Anthony Dominguez yanir Canó Cino Perez and that boods well the two two to Henderson into right field a Looper Barger coming on he can't get there it falls in for a base hit and everyone advances 90 ft a little Looper the runners had to hold up so they're loaded with nobody out and now the cleanup batter is up with the bases loaded that one was just off the end of the bat CS at third Rutman at second Henderson the trail Runner with great speed at first Orioles can put up a big time crooked number here in the bottom of the third a run is in and they lead this game to nothing santand one of the game's most powerful Sluggers is up ground ball up the middle right back to Basset he throws home for one and now the catcher Kirk to first and that's a double play my goodness on one pitch a ground ball back to Basset and Basset is reacting very strangely like he injured himself going after that ball and throwing he's walking very gingerly back to the Mount it's second and third with two outs it was a lob toss from the base of the pitcher Mount now the pitching coach Pete Walker is going to come out and have a word with Basset he is not yet on the mound now he's circling it and the catcher Alejandro Kirk will come out as well that is a one two three double play Rutman now at third Henderson at second and it's up to Ryo Hearn to drive in some runs with two outs I have no idea what that could have been Because by the looks of it it was a very routine play if you want to call a double play routine and now he's still walking back in the mound maybe it's the hum of the night I don't know 64 pitches right now for Basset he looks like he's gone seven or eight Innings that is second and third two outs this would be very disappointing if the Orioles can't add here base is loaded nobody out for your cleanup batter it's up to Ryan oarn right on left and the pitch inside for a ball one and0 on deck one of your hottest hitters in Ryan Mount Castle [Music] botom three at Camden Yards pass it SATs just above the belt a one oh oarn fistes shallow left will it find some real estate it will it falls in there for a base hit and that will score two a blue base hit for Ryan o'n and the Orioles lead this game for nothing perfectly placed off the bat of oard well I certainly worked hard enough as first at bat saw 10 pitches had of Chris Bass and F A lot of them away and this was a jam shot but it was kind of like a a good Chip Shot in golf it found some room inside the line and oarn is rewarded this time Mount Castle now the batter o'hern at first the pitch a strike down the middle 0 one I've seen Ryan o'hern line out enough to feel really good about that and where did that one go yesterday to the wall in right center just miss going out the1 that one tied up Mount Castle is swinging a Miss on a pretty nasty Sinker 0 and2 four nothing Orioles they've jumped on Chris [Music] basset the pitch in the air to left field and shallow baroa starts back now comes in towards the line he goes and he puts it away for the final out here in the third but the orial score three times they have a 4 nothing lead as we head to the fourth in Camden Yards on the orales radio network hi this is attorney Aon Snider if you have been involved in an auto accident and need a lawyer look no further than The Talented lawyers at myw firm Coen [Music] another [Music] and that'll bring up Dalton varo batting for the Blue Jays Orioles have that 4 nothing lead the first pitch a curveball that's low one and0 Brett Hollander Jeff Arnold with a very special guest familiar to all of you one of our all-time favorites Mark vivano is with us just a few weeks after his official retirement from wjztv in Baltimore the 10 another curveball in there for a strike one and one Mark how are you 10 days in Brett 10 days into retirement and it's uh it's been I I need a commercial driver's license sh shuttling the boys to games practices camps I love it it's been good the on one ground ball right side backhanded by Mount Castle an underhand flip to Burns running towards the bag one away so another quick out for Corbin Burns he's dealing right now and Mark we we go back a long time I know you do with Jeff as well but we've all admired you so much both in your work and professionalism and what kind of person you are above all things and I know you've accomplished everything everything in your broadcasting career except for maybe one thing and that would be doing play byplay on the radio for a b baseball game that is true and it is that that has drawn me drew me initially to the the whole idea of being a sports cter was listening to Jack buck as a kid in St Louis and you know watching the game of the week with Kurt gouty Tony kubc Joe garagiola I'm dating myself but that's when I fell in love with the craft of calling games it wasn't something that I did much in my career but it's something that uh really was my first love to be honest shot foul by Guerrero one and one to Vladimir Guerrero Jr what's stood the most ask you about Jack buck and the way he called it game I it just was comfortable it was he had the right Tone If the team was I I always loved it and I don't want to uh interrupt your call here but grounded foul interrupt for instance Jack Buck Bases Loaded nobody out the Cardinals are in the field he would just Riley say the Cardinals could sure use a triple play it's like you're thinking of that as a kid going you're right Mr Buck how about three on this one the one two and Guerrero pops this up slicing foul and out of play off to the right I love how much you love the game of baseball as we all do it's in your DNA like it is for us you come from the great baseball town perhaps in St Louis and it's just a part of Who You Are it is and my dad uh played amateur ball well into his 40s and we were my brothers and I were Dugout rats we were all over the diamond as bat boys uh we you know he coached our teams and it's just a you know to see now my 8-year-old Michael and his brother Christian who's six just gravitate to the game and fall in love with it naturally I didn't force the thing on them and this is a great team for them to watch and a great town to be in to enjoy it the 2-2 to Guerrero that pitch runs inside at 99 Burns has a lot of velocity tonight and it's 3 and two Vlad Guerrero when he was an Oro Junior was 12 years old I remember him in the clubhouse here and the Guerreros would famously bring a spread of food Dominican food and uh to see a 12-year-old grow up to be this Allstar pretty cool 32 is 100 mph inside and Guerrero has been on base twice the only base runner so far for torono have been Guerrero he's a one out base runner as Spencer Horwitz will bat here in the top of the fourth four nothing Baltimore Brett Hollander Jeff Arnold Mark vivano so you're 10 days in Mark do you miss it yet doing the news following it being in the clubhouses as this is World foul off the batt of horror WIS you know I I so was present to the every day that I got to work and I really focused on the moments and every day I got to do a job I always wanted allowed me to take it all in so I leave wanting for nothing because I got everything I really and I and I encourage everyone to approach your life your job that way cuz you'll have no regrets at the end or feel like oh I wish I'd had done this or that no I feel like I did it all and appreciate it all in real time so just blessed Beyond anything I could have anticipated in wanting to do this job and now to be sitting here with you guys just makes it better it's all good the 01 ground ball and it's through on the right side pass the second baseman Westberg in the right field for a base hit and it's first and third with just one out for the Blue Jays as they try and mount their first rally of the game and Alejandro Kirk will bat with Runners on the quarters bab I was going to ask you you spent so much time in Canon yards and you you mentioned watching Vladimir guo Jr as a youngster but who are your some of your favorite Orioles players managers coaches to work with boy that's a good one Jeff uh Buck show Walter and his wife Angela have become good friends and we're friends we were friends in the time that he was managing the club and I feel like I learned a lot about baseball and its surrounding works from Buck it'ss Us in the air to center field room out there from Mullins on the edge of the track he makes the catch taggy and score is Guerrero but a strong throw by Mullins keeps horo at first base they're two away it's now a 4 to one Baltimore lead I mean Buck for sure stands out I mean among the players Trey Mancini for sure just a delightful human being and I don't want to single out too many people because there are so many I'll I'll forget um but again Adam Jones what what a what a fun interesting challenging interview Adam could be I like that I like that about him Bernie Clement gets drilled a sinker That Got Away from burns on this hot and muggy night Clement gets drilled he's down I think it got him on the left side maybe and the manager John Schneider in the Toronto training staff is out it's going to be first and second with two outs Clement is now up see a replay and see where that got him so far Clement smiling about it 4 to one Baltimore but a run in for Toronto in the top of the fourth as Clement hustles to first base after being hit by a pitch speaking of hit by pitch the legend of this guy James mccan in all of baseball this guy this is going to be this is going to rate as one of the most memorable hit by pitches in orial history correct I totally agree we said it yesterday 100% stuff of Legend we've never seen it before we'll probably never see it again I said if you're a teammate of James mccan how do you not want to go out and just try and win a penny Barger takes a strike at 97 on the outer half of the knees on one and it sounded like Brett that Zack effin respected James mccan before but in first start for effin with his new team and mccan goes out and does that another level of toughness the o1 that pitch is down for a ball one and one I don't know if James mccan can skate but there would be some hockey teams that would welcome him for that toughness I mean that's hockey tough yeah I I you've seen hockey guys get stitched up and get back on the ice what he did yesterday was uh on par the one one swing and a miss on a diving change up one and two so via are you ready next half any it's your show my friend uh who's going to hold my hand none of us we're leaving the room oh please don't you know you know how they do the uh you know any rebroadcast is strictly prohibited I think in this case we can encourage people it's okay if you do it's okay it's all right you can you can rebroadcast the one two in the dirt did barg your swing he did he went too far says Third Base umpire Jr Valentine and the J strand 2 they do get one it's now a 4 to one game as we head to the bottom of the fourth at Camden Yards when we come back Mark vivano will be the play-by-play broadcaster right here on the orales radio network [Music] and now Julio has a chance to win it in the bottom of the 10 that's your ball game Julio wins it in the 10th inning they'll all go home happy tonight how about that that was was a bullet too he hit an absolute line drive into right center field Inside Out swing it's a really that's a great approach right [Music] there Lang leers to left Center deep back goes Martin and he'll jump and Martin pulled it back Austin Martin caught that ball Austin Martin caught that ball and this is going to be a double play look at him go up and Rob langers of a game tying home run that is every outfielder's dream right there Martin hasn't played a ton of center field but did he look good on that one listen to the C4 and Brian nean show right here at WBAL Newsradio 1090 and FM 101.5 the Orioles have a 4 to one lead coming to bat in the bottom of the fourth inning Jordan Westberg is at the pl Chris Bassett still in the mound for Toronto and it's my pleasure to turn things over to mark thank you Brett Hollander Orioles up 4-1 as Brent mentioned Westberg in his first St bat ground it out to Third Base he he worked a 3-2 count off Basset whose pitch count has climbed after uh a difficult first inning for him he's up to 70 pitches first pitch is a strike call and a curve ball to Westberg right-handed hitter right-handed pitcher that ball is taken high and it's one and one busy day at the Ballpark lots of transactions right ahead of the deadline the Orioles did a rebuild for three years and then rebuilt their roster in about two hours second ball to Westberg outside from Basset the Orioles got a home run from uras in a three-run third inning Basset pitches from the stretch here's the 2-1 to Westberg taken for a strike on a half swing now two and [Music] two this is a different looking Blue Jays team than the one that started this season and they've done some selling of their own as they are currently in last place in the American League East 2-2 to Westberg is strike three on a breaking pitch call that a sinker and Westberg goes down one out here in the fourth in steps Cedric [Music] Mullin Mullins flew out to center field in his first at bat set steps in with a 220 batting average he's been hitting well of late ground ball towards second ranging to his right and throwing is Horowitz and he's out at first called out at first and the and Mullins is going to look toward the Dugout for a possible review Horowitz threw it Falling Away From First Base and the Orioles are going to look at it so that could be an infield single Baltimore is challenging to out call at first base and upon review it looked like mullen's foot was on the bag before the ball was in the glove of Vlad Jr it's close it really I think this year it's had to be really definitive for them to overturn it but the crew chief Adrien Johnson will tell us here in a moment getting another look at this I think he's safe I mean naked eye for me it looked like he was safe but much closer on the replay ball is entering his M yeah I think Brett from just looking at couple of replays I think that left foot is on the bag before it goes into Guerrero's M Spencer Horowitz who made the play at second base for the Blue Jays his college coach from Radford University is here uh Joe ruya who I talked to before the game Spencer Horowitz went to St Paul school here in Baltimore was not recruited by anyone but Radford and is a 24th round draft pick who's playing Major League Baseball right now so any kids out there who may not be the you know the Hot Shot travel League team there are many stories out there about kids who make it and spenc Horowitz is one of them we continue to await a decision from New York what what's your thought guys about when it takes this long to decide I don't mean to complain no I agree I think that it's if you can't decide by now maybe just keep the call which would not be beneficial in this case with the Orioles so Mullins hit a ball into the hole toward second base horo with spun and throw called out in real time but now a lengthy review from New York even Basset has thrown some warm-up pitches in between he's thrown 75 pitches in this game and here we are in just the fourth inning with one out for the Orioles who lead it 4 to one yeah it's too long it's it just if the emphasis is is on shortening the game and everyone is worried about the time of game then this is too long you know what I think they should do they should just play the Jeopardy music and when it reaches the end that when they shut off the cameras I mean everybody wants to get the call right but there should be a limit as to how long it would take to determine this in video review and this is just too long for a play of this nature which he was called out here we go after review the call on the field is overturned the runner is safe Baltimore retains their challeng so worth worth the challenge and worth the time I was going to say worth the wait so Mullins reaches first with one out and ramonia steps in who slammed a home run to right center field off Chris Basset in the third inning let off that last inning and a big inning it was the first pitch to him fast ball high at 91 mph inside Ura stands in with a 237 batting average his home run was his fifth of the Season he's driven in 17 Mullen short lead held on there by Vlad Guerrero Jr bass it from the waist ball low this time and it's two and0 to say Toronto pitchers have had their struggles finding the strike zone in this series would be an understatement the Orioles have seen their share of walks Mullins again steps off a lead the pitch from Basset is taken high again and it's 3 and0 on uas so the nine hitter has homered and now is in there with a 3-oh count Orioles lead this game is 4 to one as they bat here in the bottom of the fourth with one out Mullins on board after a challenge review turned it into a single he goes on three 0 and he's going to steal that pace the throw was there but Mullins was well in ahead of the tag some guys swing on 3 0 some steal on 3 0 and mullen's caught I think baset flat-footed on that one yeah and it doesn't help Chris baset that he's got a very high leg kick and is slow to home plate so it's now 3-1 to uas which is a hitter's count mullen's now at second base and uas takes a 93 mph fast ball on the corner so it's now 3-2 a lot of 3-2 counts for the Orioles have ratcheted up the pitch count to bassard who's now at 81 pitches with one out in the fourth inning he checks Mullins at second brings it to uas who swings and slams a single into center field Baro comes up throwing Mullins is rounding third coming home and the ball is cut off and the Orioles lead it 5 to one on an RBI single by Ramon uas Well Done by Ramon [Music] in there at Third Base today opposite field home run earlier on and as you said Viv working Chris Basset then he got a pitch that he could drive worked to the middle of the field that's what you see from Urus and Cedric bins you see that stolen base immediately benefit the Orioles a little bit of small ball here the Orioles had four singles in the last inning here with an infield single a stolen base and a single to Center to produce another run home run are cool home runs are productive string together a lot of singles as they're doing here it gets the job done they lead it 5 to one Colton cowser swings through a basset off rank count to him now one and one with uas at first cowser two for two two singles for him has his average up to 245 Toronto's infield shifting toward the toward the right on cower and there's a timeout at home plate racking up the hits in this one the Orioles with nine hits again it's just the fourth inning and there's only one out next pitch to cower snap throw from Kirk tries to throw behind uras nothing doing there as he slides in and first he got him thinking Mullin with a steel uas with a lead and little in the bullpen now warming up for Toronto the pitch to cower swings and fouls it off his back foot and that hurt cower is going to have to walk that one off the count on him now two and two another look at that on replay straight to the inep one of the few unprotected spots for a hitter they got pads on their shins they got them on their elbows there's no pad there reset two and two the count now to cower with uras leading off first bass it from the belt will check the runner brings it plart cower takes one way high 90 M an hour on the fast ball and look at here guys another 3-2 count it's just a good approach it's just a good approach we've mentioned that Toronto's had its struggles throwing strikes be patient get yours let's see what cower gets here on 3-2 swings through it the throw down to Second and that is a strike him out throw him out no he's safe the throw was there but the tag was not and the ball was dropped so give uas the steal on the strikeout and how many times do you see that where slides in his second base and as he slides in he knocks the glove off the hand of him menz and the ball pops out of the glove as well and so Rus is safe so it ends up being an advanced runner on the stolen base the second of the inning and let's see if adley Rutman can cash in this one as the Orioles continue to play a little bit of small ball in this inning bassett's pitch count up to 88 with two outs here in the fourth Orioles up 5-1 pitch to The left-handed hitting orial catcher is ball one as it goes outside double header yesterday lot of Bullpen usage Basset pitches Rutman takes another one inside adley Rutman with a base hit his last time up he has not he has not hit consistently since the All-Star break see if he can get hot here's a Fly ball popped up center field VAR pretty much in his tracks he's going to get the third out and that'll end the inning with the orial is adding one more they lead it 5 to one take it to break Brett you're listening to the Orioles radio network you turn all like [Music] yes to right center field at Deep on its way and it is gone at Fenway Park Mike gky and how about your son hitting a homer yky at thway that just feels right pretty cool let's go and even Red Sox fans not all of them but even Red Sox fans are giving him a [Music] cheer I lift the opposite way MJ Melendez is into the corner and you talk about a basket catch and it's true his form hot start for that guy out there again this one a little straightened out a little bit more let's see into the corner what we got he's got a B hey got them both Jerry give that man a cut I'm Tony Thon get traffic updates with me weekday mornings with C4 and Brian nean on WBAL news radio the fifth inning it is brought to you by a bright idea advertising in public relations you can make a bright idea part of your team visit idea dream team.com and as we start the fifth inning we send the play-by-play back over to our fou Mark Viano the dream team is Jeff Arnold and Brett Hollander I'm just delighted to be here with you guys fulfilling a lifelong dream of calling a major league baseball game at least for an inning as Corbin Burns steps to the mound here in the top half of the fifth backed by a 51 lead Toronto scored in the last inning a walk to Guerrero he came around to score on a single by Spencer Horowitz ground ball this time Jimenez is the leadoff batter and it's an easy ground ball to short gunar Henderson fires across the diamond to get him out you know on this acquisition day this deadline trade deadline day the biggest trade was one made before the season and it's the guy out on the mound it's Corbin burns the Orioles went out of their way after what they experienced in the postseason last year and said we need that guy and that guy is doing exactly today and has been doing throughout his orial tenure what is it now 23 games now facing Stuart baroa who popped out to short his first time first pitch to him as a strike Burns second Pitch is outside and it's one and one I mean he goes to the mound Viv and you can pretty much chalk it up six or seven inning no more than three runs allowed among the major league leaders in quality starts goes after guys and I think you're going to be happy to have him for October no doubt swinging a Miss by baroa who stands in with a 133 batting average and we've talked about it I mean Toronto has dealt off a number of players they have a lot of Youth in this lineup they are in last place teams like that can be dangerous they still have some veterans here guys with pride trying to win baroa trying to prove something he stands in at one and two facing Corbin Burns check swing did he go yes he did throw to first after the ball skips in front of Rutman he throws down to Mount Castle and that's a strikeout for Corbin Burns keeps rocking him up having an easy time of it is Burns Burns is on track to throw 200 Innings and as recently as 2005 there were 50 pitchers through more than 200 Innings there might be 10 this year he's going to be one of them but it just really is a reflection on the different philosophy of the game of baseball get to the bullpens give me six or seven and Corbin Burns is good for that facing veteran George Springer who's 0 for two first pitch to him as a strike Springer right-handed hitter takes one inside one and one and then the other thing Viv is you're trying to protect a guy like Corbin birds I mean the last start that he made seven in a third innings was his longest start of the year that's the guy you want ready for October Springer takes a big swing and he's now down in the count one ball two strikes with two outs here in the top half of the fifth in the Orioles leading the Blue Jays 5 to One Burns swing and a miss by Springer tag them throw them that's it another clean inning for Corbin Burns 51 O's as we go to the bottom of the fifth draft on the Orioles radio network hey Orioles fans make every season a winning season with clean seal by hydroclean leaky ducks can lead to high energy bills and un [Music] for [Music] [Music] [Music] Tyler Fitzgerald who hit a home run in each of the last four games he's been in swing and he it's a high drive deep to left field and has he count it again yes he has way back into the Dodger Bullpen now that is an amazing beat that's the fifth game in a row in which Tyler Fitzgerald is in a home run well he gets a hang and breaking ball you be seeing up news radio let's pause 10 seconds for station ID on the orales radio network WB l w y HD2 Baltimore this is WBAL news radio 1090 and FM 101.5 Brad Hollander Jeff Arnold Ryan leko and Mark vivano hanging out with us here in our broadcast Booth game three of a four game series between the Orioles and Blue Jays at Camden Yards Orioles have a 5 to1 lead it's my pleasure again to turn things back over to Marano thank you gentlemen for allowing me this opportunity I want to dedicate this uh this this attempt at Major League broadcasting to my brother Joseph who was my first broadcast partner when we did ma madeup games in the backyard and on different board games in our home as young kids Joe I'm doing this for you brother first pitch to gunar Henderson to lead off the orial fifth is outside as is the second Pitch with a new pitcher out there Brendan little the Lefty who saw action here last night yesterday in the double header pitched one inning gave up one run the Lefty delivers to Henderson who takes a strike down the middle two and one to Gunner Henderson in this game walked and scored in the first singon scored in the third now bats here in the fifth 285 the batting average for gunar Henderson left on left swung on bounced towards short Jimenez will glove and throw and they get the first out you know we talk about pitchers at the Ballpark here tonight Jesse Jefferson who was an orial draft pick who made his major league debut with the Orioles in 1973 in his major league debut at Fenway Park he pitched 10 innings in a 2-1 orial Victory I'll go on record is saying that will never happen again Anthony Sant andere steps in now batting right-handed against the Lefty brandan little first pitch to Santander is inside for a ball Anthony had a two out RBI double drove in Henderson in that first inning second at bat he grounded into a one two three double play with the bases loaded takes a strike outside from Little 10 Innings Major League debut Jesse Jefferson and orial then actually pitched Four Seasons for the Blue Jays later in his career little brings it home to Santander who is behind on a breaking pitch swinging a miss and it's 1 and two 30 home runs for Anthony santand there to take over the club lead to say he's hot as an understatement especially when it comes to a long ball the onew to him did that hit him no it just skips off of Alejandro Kirk and the count is now two and two the oral have done had to do a lot of dancing in the Batters box in this series between the walks and the hit batters the worst of which was obviously James mccan who is somehow still active on the roster today after suffering fractures in his nose and a puffy eye and yet continued playing that first game of the double header yesterday two and two the count to santand there little his delivery is pounded down foul past third base face guys I've had 30 years ago I first came to Baltimore and in the 30 years I've I've covered the team they've had 10 managers but only two in the last 14 years that tells you they've reached a point of some stability have they not santand there the 22 to him is outside so look at that another 3-2 count this a true story I think I learned of the firing of Sam Palazo on the old Mar vivano radio show would that make sense that's quite possible uh Sam and I he's someone I got to know in my I got to travel with the team when I was doing some fill-in work for Masson it it was tough to see uh it always is tough but these when when teams struggle that's what happens 3-2 pitch Santander takes a hack at it fils it back to the screen so he's still alive perhaps also Lee missil I mean it was pretty much one a year there for a little bit it was you know in the first three years that I was here it was Johnny oats who got fired at the end of the 94 season which was incomplete then Phil Reagan then Dave Johnson 3-2 pitch to Anthony Santander swings and Fly ball toward right field drifting back that could it is that is out of here that ball ball is gone Barger was at the wall reached up and it was a delayed reaction till you saw him drop his head and santand there just dropped his Bat and that's home run number 31 for Tony ters a look at the replay yes it was just beyond the glove of Barger 31 home run second most in the American League Most for the Orioles and it's now a 6-1 Oreo lead guys one a hot Buggy Night the ball will carry here and that one just kind of kept on going and going and going and extended at bat at that how many times have we seen Anthony santand there foul Off Pitch after pitch and not miss on his pitch put it out of the ballpark as he just did oh Hearn now up first two pitches to him a strike and a ball and then if he should miss his pitch chances are he's probably going to come up his next at bat and do damage and think about this too his first at bat batting left-handed Paints the left field line opposite field then comes up for the third time batting right-handed hits it Opposite field that's just a guy who's locked in when you're spraying the ball like that with power you're in a good spot oh ohar not in a great spot down one and two Little's pitch swung on and he struck him out he missed on the cut so it's two outs now 6-1 orial lead on the Santander home run uras also homered in this game and after a difficult second game of the double header last night the Orioles have come out swinging here against the Jays and one of their best P pitchers Chris Basset who's now out of the game Brendan little now in release first pitch to Ryan mountcastle the blue jay killer 0 for two today 18 home runs against the Blue Jays in his career for Mount Castle grounds this one to Second Horowitz is right there he'll throw to Vlad Guerrero and that will retire the side gentlemen thank you Orioles rolling 6-1 after five Tak it away on the Orioles radio network life's expensive from Claire's piano lessons to pho's weekly dog grooming but du 13- 98 he's through six and Luis Hill walking off the mound to a standing ovation here in the [Music] [Music] buks one lead on Toronto and stepping in with a play byplay we also have a special guest with us here's Bret Hollander thank you Jeff yeah 6 to1 Orioles top of the six and with us is Orioles Executive Vice President and general manager Mike Elias hours after the trade deadline has concluded as Burns delivers to VAR show in the first pitch in the air to shallow left Colton cower under it waiting for it to finally come down it does and there's one away but Mike it was a flurry of moves right at the deadline I guess a couple hours later tell us how you think you did yeah uh thanks Brett our uh front office group has been working really hard uh for the last several weeks and this is coming right on the heels of the draft um but this is a a really intensive effort that brings together the whole organ ation uh Mike Snider our senior director of pro scouting he does a lot of work with his group Sig midell in the analytics Department Brendan for our director of strategy Eve rosenbom assistant GM all the medical staff the trainers the doctors everybody gets involved with the trade deadline kind of like the draft so this has been a really intense stretch um I think uh we accomplished our goals which are um right-handed reliever left-handed reliever some uh that throw really hard some right-handed bats to mix in in the Outfield and Off the Bench and two starting pitchers uh that are going right into the rotation and you saw Zack effin the other day and Trevor Rogers I imagine will be pitching in Cleveland pretty soon and um you know this is um the I think a big theme for me is a lot of these guys are controllable and part of this team beyond the 2024 season so these aren't rentals it's 21 to Vladimir Guerrero Jr and Mike tell us about Trevor Rogers who was an All-Star back in 21 the numbers haven't been as good in the last few years but what do you see in him and what do you like he's very tall he's got a very whippy arm with a lot of extension and it generates a ton of ground balls and he's he's had injuries and he hasn't risen back to the heights that he had in 2020 2021 but he's covered Innings since then and I think he's somebody that's going to slot really well in the middle back part of our rotation as a left-hander and gives us a different look should be a good fit for the ballpark and we have him uh through the 2020 six season so um you know a lot of value there and uh with the starting pitchers available on this trade market he was one of the better ones to get your hands on because of that extra control Vladimir Guerrero walks he's been on base three times tonight Mike one deal that was made right before the deadline was aloy Jimenez coming over from the Chicago White sit what do you think he can bring to this team well the I think the main thing is you know we traded Austin Hayes for what we H is a really good reliever and Sir Anthony Dominguez and um we wanted to bring some right-handed options for Brandon so we brought in Eloy we brought in Austin Slater we're going to have Kobe Mayo coming up through the minor leagues um so we have a lot of right-handed options now we'll see how the rest of the year plays out but ELO's a guy that's a big threat espe especially against left-handed pitching I mean he's uh had injuries uh he's he's you know had his ups and downs this year but when you see him coming up to the plate especially against the left-handed pitcher the opposing manager takes notice and it's something that we're lacking right now on um this roster so I think we'll see some DH bats from him and uh um among other things and I know Brandon's excited to have him he coached him a lot when he was a young kid with the Cubs oh and two the batter Spencer Horwitz who's one for two he struck out and singled Guerrero is on it first the Orioles lead this game 6 to1 in the top of the six and Mike Gregory SoDo big stuff you acquired him today but you had to give up one of the team's best pitching prospects in Seth Johnson get them yeah we did I mean you know this is a competitive deadline uh very much a sellers Market there were very few teams actually selling and a lot of teams that have below 500 records right now that were buying so it made it challenging um you're not going to get anything for free um and Gregory sto does something that we don't have a lot of which is throw 99 100 miles hour from the left side um I think Keegan Aken and CNL Perez have done a really solid job this year and will'll continue to do that but uh having a third guy never hurts and um with Danny Kum out it's just an area where we wanted to improve our depth Mike Mike when it comes to kind of adding stto and also Sir Anthony Dominguez how much did the fact that both of them have closed games before how much did that appeal to you yeah I mean look the Phillies are a great team they've been in the playoffs a lot um they've got a really good Bullpen so they have room to trade some of these guys uh I've liked both of their arms for a while I mean we've been talking about Soo for a couple of years dingz as we've been talking about for a couple of years um you know the Phillies needed a right-handed outfielder they they swapped us Dominguez for Hayes they're they're bringing in some some new faces so we we got our hands on a couple of guys um you know it's all part of a big part of why you have some of these prospects is to use them in trades like this to the deadline you can't keep them all um I think you know we were able to keep our top four prospects uh this deadline and that's that's really important to us and um but you know the rest of the system uh you know we certainly put it to use and it's a little bit thinner but our Scouts will get back to work this one punched into shallow left Henderson and oras are there and rone reaches up and he makes the grab two away and Guerrero stays put it first Mike I'm just curious about the process I know you've been going at this for a long time have you slept in the last few days next question please all right hey I'm I'm picturing this world I mean what are the last few hours before the deadline like call it's really frantic I think the the um part that the most stressful is you can agree to a trade GM to GM and often that happens after 550 p.m. with the 600 p.m. deadline and then there's still a medical review to be had and you don't know how long that's going to take cuz you don't know what's in the file uh so that gets nerve-wracking and then Major League Baseball has to approve the trades too so I I want to say the Gregory sto trade we probably got full clearance on at about 5:56 p.m. amazing on one to the batter Alejandro Kirk the Orioles have a six to1 lead in the top of the six burns his pitch insign to hit him second hit by pitch tonight by Burns it's first and second now with two outs as the Jays try and Claw their way back in the game Ernie Clement will be the batter and John Schneider and the Jay's training staff staff out to take a look at Kirk and then you look at Toronto Mike and they're in the totally opposite end of this I think by my count they traded away seven major league players and it's just amazing in this one series happening right now that these two rosters have been totally transformed in about 24 hours yeah that's uh what the the trade deadline brings uh uh you know the Blue Jays uh this is probably not where they wanted to be this time of year but they've made the most of it and made some really good trades at the deadline um for some of their players on expiring contracts most notably you Kikuchi and Jimmy Garcia and some other guys I think it's U the right move for their future and this is all part of the cycles of of baseball and you know one um of the I guess downsides of of uh being in first place like we are is you know you got to tap into that future to reinforce the team and real time and um you know it's all part of The Balancing Act I guess as far as moves to go there'll be I'm sure some roster tinkering in the next 24 hours or so but there's still some really good prospects in Triple A and Kobe Mayo and Jackson holiday that could impact this team in the stretch run of this season could they not totally you know there's a lot to be sorted out yet um you know we're very cognizant of how much time's left uh you know there's a lot of moving Parts um you know I'm sure we're not going to have perfect health going forward unfortunately and uh we're ready to we're ready to reach down into Norfolk at any moment anyone who's playing well down there um can be up here and I think Jackson's put in a lot of great work and uh you know now with Jorge out at second base uh this might be a good time to to put that left-handed bat to you so we're taking a look at it big choer shortstop Henderson has it underhand flip to Second and he over mik Elias we appreciate so much I know how busy you've been we thank you thanks fellas Mike Elias after a very very busy few days the Orioles make one of their MO have one of the most busiest deadlines in team history making a bunch of moves and a lot that happened today the Orioles also have a lead right now 6 to1 over the Blue Jays on the Orioles radio network tomorrow morning listen to Brandon me between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. as we give away a four pack of tickets to Trifecta food truck and music festival happening September 21st at the Timonium Fairgrounds C4 and Brian Neeman tomorrow 5:30 another hit he's reached in 13 straight plate appearances and 12 hits in that span fourth time in major league history 12 straight at bats with a hit didn't come some cheap either tonight on Tuesday August 13th when the O take on the Washington Nationals at 6:35 the Orioles invite all faiths and fellowship groups to attend the game which will be followed by faith-based music and player testimonials visit orioles.com groups for more information that's Jeff om BR bottom six here at Camden Yard Ry Burr into the game for the Blue Jays his 11th of the season of 54 ER busy few Innings we heard from Orioles General manager Executive Vice President Mike allias and all the moves we had an inning long enough to kind of get into it which was really nice and all the trades that have occurred in a very busy deadline day around Major League Baseball the sixth Innings brought to you by PNC PNC Bank brilliantly boring since 1865 by volume this is one of the busiest deadlines I can recall for the Orioles but also in Major League Baseball there were so many moves maybe a Juan SoDo wasn't traded maybe a Max Scherer was wasn't traded but there were just so many moves and you can see the competitiveness of the game both for the teams that are selling trying to get better quickly and the teams that are buying trying to win a championship Ryan cin now catching replacing Alejandro Kirk who was hit by a pitch but the Orioles have a 6 to1 lead now in the bottom of the six Jordan Westberg leading off and the right Ander burer pitches and this is sky in the air shallow left back pedaling him inz calling for it and he makes the catch one away how about Mike how much sleep have you gotten next [Music] question I was going to ask him if we had time how many phones were you using that's a great question I had a lot more you may have to go back to a different time in the calendar to get all that out of him talking about what it's like in the draft room or deadline room pitch outside to Mullins one to0 it is now very overcast to the north of Camden Yards but maybe we get lucky on this night fast ball and a strike on the outside corner one and one everyone was predicting rain right around game time but so far I've not seen a drop of rain and the ground screw is not stationed back of the tarp down the right field line the 1-1 this is chop foul at home plate one and two Mullins one for two he infield hit he stole a base and scored a run certainly swing it better that is big for this club down the stretch yeah this roster will look a lot different tomorrow Jeff aloy Jimenez will be here I imagine obviously Trevor Rogers will be here I'm not exactly sure when he would would have to be activated he's not going to pitch tomorrow Grayson Rodriguez is starting pitch is down and into to Mullins 2 and2 as Mike said I think we probably expect to see Trevor Rogers in Cleveland yep we believe Austin Slater will be a part of this major league roster there are things to consider like options and the oils also picked up some minor Leaguers today too I mean they tried to really impact their ball Club up and down the organization this is a popup shallow Center jenz the short stop is out and who can find it a center fielder varo calling for it at the last moment to put it away for out number two was limited ballpark pass it is on sale now don't waake got un limited access to August and September Games for just 65 bucks a month passes include a general admission standing tag with access to the fly court and cores light roof deck get your ballpark pass Before Time runs out at orioles.com unlimited here's the star of the night Ramon uras a homer and a single in this game couple of runs batted in swinging a miss here on a pitch that was down on one Ryan bur's pitch swinging a miss again that was a nasty slider 0 and two tone 6 to1 Baltimore the Orioles are out hitting the Jays 10 to2 on a very busy day here at the Ballpark Marius down the count nothing in two the right-hander Ryan burr from the stretch with the bases empty as pitch fast ball 95 High one and two if Urus gets on Colton cower will bat orio's trying to put one away here get back to 20 games better than 500 the onew that pitch is low for a ball two and two also you expect Gregory stto to be on this roster tomorrow and in the Orioles Bullpen the Orioles did designate Cole Irvin for assignment so he is no longer with the ball Club the Orioles have 10 days to trade him or release him the 22 Irvin or I should say uras pokes his foul out of play off to the right they two and two to raone swing in a Miss Hur is down on strikes so one two three six for Ryan Burr and we're six complete here at Camden Yards 6 to1 Baltimore as we head to the seventh on the Masson don't miss your chance to celebrate the Orioles Ace with this giveaway buy tickets at orioles.com tickets and tonight's been all about Corbin Burns as he delivers to Anderson barer a ball outside a curveball that missed 1 and0 to barer Corbin's at 80 pitches right now he has a 6 to1 lead he has been spectacular All Season obviously but what he's done out of this break it's been amazing that pitch low for a ball 2 and0 can he get through the seventh so far this year he has completed seven seven times but this is his 17th consecutive start of at least six innings that is otherworldly this is fouled and out a play off to the left into the club level two and one this will also be unless something very unusual happens here his 18th quality start and that's number one in all of baseball that's uh speaking of Trades that seems like a really good one the 2-1 right side and pass the dive of M castle and into right field for a base hit santand gets to it quickly but the leadoff battle and Barger on for the Jays here in the top of the seventh right now the Orioles Bullpen quiet we'll see if there's some action it is again we've said this a few times but a very muggy night Burns at 83 pitches the seventh n is brought to you by the Maryland mortgage program seven steps to home ownership start your journey mm.mm maryland.gov this is foul back out of play off the bat of Jimenez the short stop and number eight hitter home one well with the lead I think you feel comfortable with burns on the mount the Orioles have gotten him a lot of runs in his first three starts out of the break so what you like to see with your a on the mount grounded foul Third Base side 0 and two to the batter Jimenez a lot of early runs last time against the Miami Marlins he had a six nothing lead that he worked with and there were think a couple of inherited Runners that scored on him after he left the game but this time they hoping he can pick up that 11th win 0 and two to Jimenez the pitch that's down low for a ball one and two the only thing kind of odd about Burns's start is he's hit two batters his command though seemingly impeccable tonight toss over to First and making it back easily is barer so the line on burns right now he's completed six three hits one or run two walks he's hit two batters and he seven strikeouts the one-w pitch Luke foul out a play off to the right and remains one and two still no action the Orioles Bullpen as Burns approaches 90 pitches it will be daytime baseball Camden Yards tomorrow the finale of this four- game set and then the Orioles hit the road and start a four game series in Cleveland on Thursday night the onew found at home plate and then off the batter Jimenez and he stays alive one and two and I can't wait Brad for four days of hey Snoopy Snoopy hang on you're excited about that hey Snoopy against the Cleveland Guardians who right now have the best record in the American League the Orioles began play today a half game up on the yanes for first place in the East the one-w that is Luke foul out of play off to the right Mount Castle gives it a look but it's out of play as Cena Perez starts warming up in the Baltimore Bullpen two best teams in the American League and it's going to be fun to watch last year the Orioles struggled in their first two games in Cleveland and then went on to win the last two games John means had that remarkable start his best one after he came off the injured L late that was a dramatic series very intense baseball that was big time September penet Chase baseball one and two to Jimenez Barger leads from first being held on by Mount Castle the pitch shop to Third Base uras has it to Second for one on to first and make that two on Double Play 5 43 two away base is empty in the top of the seven now big hop there for Rus nice job on the turn by Jordan Westberg it's been a lot crisper tonight and oras who had a couple of tough days in the field and at the plate he's had a big day in the field and a huge day at the plate tonight store baroa will bat two out baces empty as burns looks to complete seven curve ball outside one and0 if Burns gets one more out it will be his eighth start going at least seven 91 pitches the 10 rolled foul first base side one and one Jose quas the side winding right hander warming up for Toronto the 1-1 that pitch runs away two one saw from Burns tonight elevated velocity which is encouraging considering it's July 30 seems like he's in great shape in every way the two un pitched to the number nine batter baroa popped up left side and it will reach the seats off to our left two and two there's some funky looking clouds off in the distance north of the ballpark where looks like if I put on my hurricane Hollander hat they're getting some some storms north of [Music] town but no rain here at Camden Yards the two two chop over the mound just over Burns chasing his Westberg a bare hand and a fire to First and it's too late that ball took a hop I'm not sure if it was off the plate in the Old Baltimore chop but it took took a huge hop over the mound Burns was waiting for it to come down and then he Leed and it just was over his glove and Out Of Reach and then Westberg had a Do or Die play with the bare hand that's an infield hit yeah sure enough Brett it was right off home plate and it was that true Baltimore chop and if a guy is going to benefit this Blue Jays lineup off the Baltimore chop it's going to be steuart broa guy can really fly was Westberg and Henderson both going for it really at the true position of second base West got a barehanded and the throw was too late good attempt by Westburg and now Drew French O's pitching coach out to give Burns a breather here this could be his last batter coming up it's going to be George Springer who's 0 for three with a couple of punch outs Orioles have a 6 to1 lead top of the seventh that was just the fourth Blue Jays hit both CNL and Canó are warm in the Orioles Bullpen what you don't want is this inning to extend of Vladimir Guerrero Jr who might be the hottest hitter on the planet he's been on base three times tonight a single and two walks so you got to get out of this thing before Guerrero can do some serious damage and he would come up at a point Jeff where it' be hard to walk him intentionally but I don't think that's even off the table Menor in base for Guerrero right now given the nature of this Blue Jay's lineup Springer takes one down for a ball one and0 I don't think it's off the table at all Brett I mean consider who is coming up right after Vladimir Guerrero Jr if you've got an open base with a five-run lead there's no reason you have to pitch to him baroa leads from first being held by Mount Castle m one that pitch 96 and just inside with the Sinker two and0 so he falls behind Springer two balls and no strikes toss over to First and browa back [Music] standing two and0 to the batter there goes the runner the pitch is outside throw to second base and on a bounce it's too late and baroa takes the bag so he's at second base and it's three and0 to George Springer well now with a five-run lead I think you feel you can attack Springer even though you're down three and0 in the count broa leads from second base Burns come set now comes home the pitch that's Ball Four down the way he missed with a cutter a four pitch walk to Springer and that might be the end of the night for Corbin Burns he does not Pitch seven complete he goes six and 2/3 another quality start another really good outing the Orioles have a six to1 lead but two are on and Dalton bar show will bat the entire infield congregates around Burns and he's going to have really nice hand leaving the mound here at cden yards a slow walk off the mound by Corbin Burns a great effort but his night is over and this pitching change is brought to you by Point Brie can you guess who's hitting in this iconic moment in Tampa Bay Rays history Jansen that is into center field Here Comes K it's time the game a rose Arena coming around throw home stumbles but the ball gets away Tampa Bay wins it let's take another look Chon that is into center field Here Comes K me he tied the game aoll arena coming around throw home now he stumbles but the ball gets away Tampa B wins it the answer is Brett Phillips Jansen that is into center field Here Comes k Phillips has tied the game a Rolls Arena coming around throw home now he stumbles the ball getes away T Bay wins it BR Phillips game four [Music] hero holay no doubt feeling the pressure that comes with the expectations as the number one consensus Prospect in baseball and holiday through the right side there it is the first of many Jackson holiday with his first major league hit and it comes in a major moment there are the smiles it was just a matter of time for is a winning strategy in banking and baseball PNC Bank brilliantly boring since 1865 PNC Bank National Association member FDIC CNL Perez into the game five run oral lead 6 to1 is the score but the Jays are threatening Dalton varo the left-handed batter is coming up but what looms here is the big right-handed Slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr who Cena will have to face if varo gets on so that is the drama right now in the top of the seven this game far from over CNL making his 36 appearance a 426 ER opponent's hitting just 220 against him and the pitch to Saro that is down the right field line that could be trouble it's going to go into the corner and off the wall and the Jays will get a run santand awkwardly throws it back into the infield gain the stop sign at third is Springer but the Jays get one it's 6 to2 a really weird lob throw in from santandar and right but on the first pitch left on left from CNL it's an RBI double off the bat of Dalton VAR yeah I'm not exactly sure kind know what happened there was son Tere yeah for some reason he kind of threw it sidearm with his feet moving and honestly I think if Carlos fabl the third base coach had seen that he probably would have tried to send Springer around third to score second and third for Guerrero and a strike one on the outside corner so here's the match up you didn't want to see left on right seeing out to the hottest hitter on the planet Guerrero's been on base three times tonight a single and two walks and that is a strike on the outside quarter maybe a gift but quickly Cel jumps ahead 0 and two 97 just off the plate and Perez got the call V's at second Springer at third 6-2 Baltimore top of the seventh the 02 Up and Away with a fast ball not even close one and two I think CNL tried to throw that one through a brick wall one and two to the batter Cel needs to face Guerrero plus one one more but on Deck the left-handed bat of Spencer Horwitz one and two to Guerrero the pitch did he go appeal to first he did not the Orioles were walking off the field it was a fast ball up and Guerrero checked his swing and at least that's the thought of the crew chief Adrien Johnson and on replay he did in fact check his swing two and two Ceno from the stretch the pitch a Tapper to second base Westberg has it a toss to first got him nicely done Cino Perez he allows the RBI double but then he gets Guerrero to ground out softly to second base and that's the play that make you that makes you smile it's brought to you by affordable dentur it's time for the great mascot race here's the pitch and there off they're neck and neck look at them go folks the crowd is going wild it's the home stretch it's too close to call here's the play of the pl it's blooper congratulations youve won the great mascot race listen I've been following you for a while man bottom line is you get your a swing off and generate a lot of Pop I just want to go I'm getting this A to B oh man straight to the ball Barrel hitting the ball is the hardest thing to do I'm a person from o I'm looking for spin I'm not going to lie I'm a I'm I'm going to look for spin but I'm a time up a fastball o if you spin it I'm swinging like if you spin it in the middle I'm going to destroy it h sends a flat ball to deep center field Harris is back he's out of room it's on one hits one in the air deep right center field and leaving the yard for two home run game for Max M onew from Stevens carrying really well back to the wall it goes and it's gone three home runs for Max [Music] Muny De La Cruz rolls one that is through pitch called a strike throw down is late opposite way that is down basee hit takes off no throw there goes De La Cruz called strike throw down late D La Cruz he takes off Pitch swinging to this throw down it's wide and he's on for the fourth time today Chum to third backand short GL J's 13th appearance ER at 8.22 covering just 15 and a third Innings he's allowed four home runs in 15 and a third the Orioles have a 4-run lead 6-2 over the Blue Jays they would like to add as Colton cower leads off for the Orioles top of the order do up for Baltimore against the sidewinding right-hander quas and the first pitch 93 off the plate one and0 the way things have gone the back end of the Orioles Bullpen you want as many as possible the 1 cowser looks at the ball outside two and0 the orial doubling up the Jay and Hits 10 to5 cowser Rutman and Henderson two up for Baltimore the 2- cowser looks at ball three three and0 at bats in this game particularly early against Chris Basset were phenomenal there's no doubt this offense has looked much better over the last five or six games the three 0 down the middle at the top of the zone for a strike with a fast ball three and one cser's had another good day a couple of singles extending his in streak and a strikeout this time he swings at 92 at the top of the Zone couldn't get to it three and [Music] two not a good things so far tonight the final line for Corbin Burns six and 2/3 four hits two runs allowed three walks seven strikeouts the 3-2 to Colton F out a playoff to our left it remains three and two Burns did hit two batters and this roster for Toronto that has had to shape shift over the last few days they had to lose their catcher tonight Alejandro Kirk after he was hit by a pitch three and two to cower again a Tapper over the mound charging the shortstop of menz he gloves it fires to First just in time to get Colton away the out toown scoreboard is presented by Navy football Navy football mini plan and single game tickets are on sale now the season opens August 31st against Bucknell and you won't want to miss all the exciting action in historic Annapolis at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium get your tickets today at navysports.com adley looks at the ball outside one and0 well big game and a big Series in Philadelphia the Phillies at 65- 41 against the Yankees at 63 and 45 as Rutman looks at the ball outside 2-0 Yankees pummeled the Phillies last night but tonight top of the seventh at Citizens Bank Park and it's 4-2 Philadelphia over the Yankees as adley takes ball three again quas Falls by 3 and0 the Orioles have three members of last year's Phillies bupe pitch is high for ball four and Rutman will reach he's a oneup BCE runner in a 6-2 game and now Henderson will bat so the Orioles could win this one they have the lead in the seven Yankees losing the seventh the Orioles could pick up a game on New York if these scores hold Anderson takes a strike on the outer half on1 and New York started to get hot over the weekend against the Boston Red Sox and the Red Sox they made some upgrades to their roster as well Henderson takes the ball out side one and [Music] one it's going to be interesting and really at this point the only way to help your ball Club in the big leagues is what you have in the minor leagues and maybe a waiver claim and maybe what you have on the injured list Gunner to left field in deep baroa is back back pedaling and he'll make the catch Gunner just missed that that was a line drive to deep left as Rutman Retreats back to first base two away I like the swing there by Henderson about 100 milph the other way he's close not seen a Henderson home run since July 14 as we see him on the monitor walking the Orioles Dugout looking very frustrated well here's sandir another big night for Anthony batting left-handed again he looks at a fast ball outside one and0 sandir had an RBI double in the first then came up with the bases loaded with nobody out in the third and hit into a one two three double play and then had a solo Homer batting left-handed that just made it out over the ground screw shed that in the fifth that's a ball to Anthony 2 and0 so santand now has 31 home runs that ties Marcel azuna for third in all of Major League Baseball adley leads from first the pitch santand looks at one away three and0 [Music] Yankees are threatening in the top of the seventh right now and we do know that Philly Bullpen is short after the Overhills took two relievers out of it and you know what Austin Hayes is a three-run homer for the Phillies that's Ball Four to santand there not even close so quas has come on he fell behind cower 3 and0 eventually got him to ground out then a walk to Rutman a line out to Henderson the walk to Rutman was on four pitches and the walk to Santan D is on four pitches and now Ryan oarn who blooped the two RBI single in the third has a chance to drive in another [Music] here I think that ball part will fit Austin Hayes well I think extremely so I mean he's a pull hitter at heart and trying to be a pull hitter at canman yards good luck with that I mean that ballpark in Philadelphia is perfectly suited for him ohar checks his swing on a pitch that was up and away one and0 and if Austin Hayes has a great August September and even October that doesn't make it a bad trade he was having a hard time getting that bats here the one ohar takes a fastball strike one and one Guardians by the way one again they're 65 and 42 that's where the Orioles were head after tomorrow afternoon's game here at Camden Yards Cleveland is a six-game lead on Minnesota pitch outside o'n two and one Guardians two better in the Lost column over Baltimore for the best record in the American League and Cleveland you know they have the second best record in baseball by only Philadelphia although it's pretty bunched up right now for 2-1 oarn looks at one up and away for ball three three and one no one is getting loose behind Jose quas Orioles have a 4run lead 6-2 adley's at second Sand's at first both walk bottom seven at Camden Yards the pitch oh Hearn a big rip at it but he fouls it right back behind on plate three and two and now the runners get a head [Music] start John Schneider's barking at the third base umpire Junior Valentine I mean barking at him and mocking him and right now Junior Valentine I think is showing a lot of [Music] restraint I think he wanted on the check swing from oarn a strike there that's very normal for John Schneider to bark there go the runners the 3-2 that's Ball Four up and away and they're loaded rutan's at third Sand's at second oars at first all reached by walk and now Ryan Mount Castle can bust this thing wide open give the Oriol some Breathing Room late as Keegan Aken loosens up in the Baltimore Bullpen the pitch Mount Castle takes a gift strike he can't believe it that pitch was a few baseballs off the plate inside and it's all1 to Ryan Jonathan power behind the plate Mount Castle does have two career grand slams The 01 way inside almost hit him and it's one and one this is a tough fat bat for Mount Castle this is a right-hander who comes from the side and has no idea where it's going that's not fun 6-2 Baltimore bottom of the seventh the pitch a jam shot Tapper foul their base side one and two to Ryan Mount Castle man getting into it on a sultry night in downtown Baltimore the onew up and into Mount Castle hit a bail out of the way two and two if Mount Castle gets on Westbook will bat Bases Loaded two outs the two two swing and a miss Mount Castle down on strikes and the Orioles strand three and do not score and we're seven complete here at orial Park at Camden Yards the Orioles enjoy a 6 to2 lead Arnold all right Brett thanks so much Cel peris's first pitch has hopped on the ground to first base Mount Castle plays it but it was fouled at home says Jonathan par the home playay umpire who waved both of his arms in the air and pointed towards Horowitz in the ground let them know that it hit off of Horowitz orales feeling like they come away empty-handed in the seventh inning you had the bases loaded but you weren't able to do anything with it in an inning where Jose quas was all over the place the 01 pitch is outside one ball and one strike some innings are like picassos and some Innings it's like their finger painted and that was kind of what the last inning was for quas at the least the Orioles still have a 4-run lead one and one the pitch that is chopped up the first base line this time it's fair it's picked up by Mount Castle he'll step on the bag for the force out of Horwitz and it's the first out of the top of the eighth inning Faro had an RBI double in the seventh inning that got home Steward Bara as Corin Burns finishes with six and two3 innings of two-run baseball four hits three walks and seven strikeouts and given that Horowitz was a left-handed hitter and you've three batters two-thirds of an inning one hit and no strikeouts for CNL and now yanir Canó comes on he'll face cin the right hand hitter we'll look at a strike over the outside corner 0 and one Brian cin caught game two yesterday he came on when Alejandro Kirk got hit by a pitch only one hit in 15 at bats for Servin as Canó the little big righty comes in and misses down out of a three quarters delivery one ball and one strike 288 earn run average for yaner Canó and since the start of last season he has appeared now in 120 games a 1-1 Cho foul at home PL for strike two and for canel 120 appearances is the start of last year that's the fifth most in all of baseball he didn't pitch yesterday and he had to work really hard for a save on Sunday as the Orioles went to Canó over Craig Kimbrell Canó gave up a run on three hits in the ninth inning he was throwing the ball really well his stuff looked great but the Padres were so good at putting the bat on the ball got some cheap hits the onew Sinker oh to be a kneehigh strike three but instead is called to Ball by Jonathan par now you can't do much better than that but serving granted a stay and now two and two Canó delivers and there he got him change up has ser and hack through it so for Canó his night begins with a strike out two now two gone now in the eighth inning orales six and the Blue Jays two and Ernie Clement is going to come up so Clement it's been on base twice in this game Blue Jays have been limited to just five hits got a run in the last inning on VAR Show's double and then one more in the fourth on a sack fly right on right Canó to the plate down and away one ball and no strikes d baseball tomorrow 12:35 first pitch Grayson Rodriguez is going to make the start for the Orioles he'll be in search of his 13th win one and0 Canó leg kick and offering home and that is just low two balls and no strikes and a Grayson starts tomorrow sounds like we're going to hear from Trevor Rogers who the Oriols acquired from the Marlins for Kyle stow and Conor Norby at some point during the Cleveland Series 2 sanker is down three balls and no strikes and while it is tough to lose guys like Conor Norby and stoward both of whom debut in the Major Leagues with the Orioles drafted and developed by the Orioles for them it's an opportunity where they're going to get to play every day in the big leags 3-0 sinking fast ball at the knes for a strike you hope it's a great trade for the Orioles and I think on the surit it's a phenomenal trade for the Marlins even if Trevor Rogers is a stud to me to get two ready now players 3-1 pitch outside corner strike two I'm not really sure the ceiling for Norby and star but I think they're both major league players and both could very much be everyday players with pop and I love the athleticism of Stowers 3-2 hit on the ground right back to the pitcher look what I found yir Canó flicks it to First space gets Clement he comes on and gets the two he sees between him and peris a 1 2 38th inning and as we're go through 7 and A2 it's the Orioles leading by four runs 6-2 over Toronto on the Orioles radio network heyo fans aren't these days at the yard just the game three of the series The Orioles lead the Blue Jays 6-2 half the Orioles runs came in the third ramonas had a opposite field home run and then Ryan o'n added a two-run double it'll be Westberg Mullins and uras here in the last of the eighth inning and the Blue Jays Trot their latest pitcher out there it is right-hander Zack pop a former Orioles Prospect who's going to come on he'll look at Jordan Wester right on right pop misses outside the first pitch Sinker at 95 Jose quas it was ugly but it was a clean seventh inning three walks over an inning one strike out 1 hit on the ground to the left of the mound moving left is the shortstop Jimenez he'll throw to first and Westberg becomes out number one a pop checks into this Ting with a 546 ER and 36 appearances with the Toronto Blue Jays he was one who came over in the Manny Machado deal along with Dean Kramer and then via the rule five draft made it to the Miami Marlins and then he went from there to Toronto here's Mullins hitting left-handed the pitch helm and he'll swing and foul it away down the left field line no balls in a strike we're seeing this from Jake R and it was apparently first reported by Andy kska but Jake R royals.com saying that Jackson holiday is heading to Baltimore and what would be his second stint with the team the 01 inside the Sinker one ball and one strikes which means a roster that has already added some pieces and is going to add more you add holiday into the mix and roster construction will be a little interesting I think we're in for another strange morning tomorrow Jeff swing and a miss one and two I mean we don't really know how this is all going to shake out but we know that stto will be activated I'm almost certain before the game tomorrow not really sure what the rules with Rogers are they might be able to wait another 24 hours I think before he would have to be activated so there'll be more comings and going the ORD of DFA Cole Irving today also Matt crook who had pitched for the club very briefly one two inside pushes Mullins off the plate they also put Jorge Matteo on the 60-day ilil which is a sad thing right now you can tell this team needs Jorge Matta 22 high and in sends it to a Full Count I mean when it comes to speed option you know gunar Henderson can run so can Cedric Mullins so can Jordan Westberg but hor mat changes the complexion of your team 3-2 low for ball four Sinker was in the dirt Mullins will reach Jeff you can cheer on your favorite condiment tomorrow during the Orioles live Burks hot dog hot dog race watch ketchup mustard and relish compete for Top Dog as they race around the right field warning track down the first Baseline buy tickets now at orioles.com hotdog rce I still want to do a call of that and then have it be run when we get back from commercial break pitches outside one ball and H race I would love to to do it as well you've actually practiced or at least had a rep calling a actual horse race before at old pical race course I got to do one that was you know we talked about Mark rivano joining us today his buck bucket list 10 pitch call a strike look to be up and in well doing a horse race certainly on my bucket list and all I can say is I want one more shot at it so if anyone's looking for a track announcer to fill in at some point I'd like another shot at it well you know that Pete medhurst A buddy of ours he does harness racing and the great Larry Kus of NBC he's a baltimorean pitches down and inside somehow it misss hitting uras it gets by the catcher to the left of home and up to Second goes Mullins we'll have to see if this is scored a wild pitch You' imagine that it would be and they're going to call it a pass ball actually yeah I'm not sure if what we do is hard or the degree of difficulty is hard I know we've all called a lot of sports now did you memorize the silks or did you try to memorize I Tred to memorize color's jockey name of horse it's impossible two1 Chopper out to the left side going into the holis him man his Fields plants and rolls the ball to first base safe Rus legs it out and then as he needed to put more on that throw if he was going to bounce it it took two skips and then kind of skitted out to Guerrero so arus is safe Mullins is at second and arus yeah foot clearly on the bag even though Vladimir gero Jr was close to doing the splits yeah last thing on this I have to think you did hockey recently hockey and horse racing have to be the two most difficult Sports to call and in in horse racing you have just milliseconds to react and identify what you're seen it's really hard six to2 Orioles lead with one out bottom eight as pop misses off the outside corner one ball and those strikes and then you get the hockey you watch me do hockey I'm not saying I'm the next doc Emer or anything but I actually felt like it went pretty well because you'll know the different line combinations you may not be able to tell who's on the far side of the ice the one pitch chip foul down the left field line one ball and one strike so what you actually have to do is you're kind of doing a little bit of mental identification saying well if this guy is here and this guy is here then that means it has to be this guy assuming that they haven't made any changes on that line combination so two hard ones to do the one-1 pitch inside pop miss the cutter two balls and a strike well Blue Jay's pitchers they have problems throwing strikes if walked five batters in this game I don't know how Jose quas got out of the seventh 2-1 cower takes a strike thigh high to even the count and the Orioles they have got Sir Anthony Dominguez throwing in the bullpen and what is a non-save opportunity two and two with one out here's a kick and pitch and that is a Fly ball in a short left center field racing on is baroa seating ground is Jimenez who peels off to the left and the left fielder makes the grab for out number two you love to get one more big hit in this game Jeff you left the Bases Loaded in the seventh you had the bases loaded nobody out earlier in the game back in the third then Anthony santand grounded into a double play you eventually scored two runs so it didn't sting as bad but two on here it's only a four-run game trying to put this team away and you know what Brett I I feel like if somebody is going to get a big hit that they deserve it would be adley Rutman today he's got a hit he's had some good at bats the last few days yesterday hit a number of balls hard but was not rewarded with any hits pitch here is right down the middle he'll take for strike one Allen one 6 to2 your score the Orioles leading the Blue Jays to win this game and it would give you a chance to take the series tomorrow on and one the kick the next pitch and that's a line shot right at the second basement Rutman squares another one up but he hits it right into the chest of Horowitz at second and two men left on base we're going to head to the ninth inning Oriel six Blue Jays two [Music] a [Music] [Music] [Music] cam clier out towards right field this one heading back for the bullpen at the wall see you later cam clier breaks this one open a one official jerseys caps t-shirts Collectibles and more gear up with your Baltimore oral at mlbshop.com and is sprad hollay Jeff Arnell with you you're joined by big Ryan leko in the booth tonight it is Sir Anthony Dominguez who between the Orioles and Phillies will make his 41st appearance 3 and2 record and a 4.5 ER for Dominguez the last time he pitched was on Sunday against San Diego had a perfect eighth inning with a strikeout and his first two outings but the Orioles have been of the scoreless variety he'll look at Addison Barger to start things off and this pitch is a strike at the knees 0 and one a non-save opportunity for Sir Anthony Dominguez number of Phillies with the O's now the 01 off the outside corner one ball and one strike you've got Dominguez you've got Craig Kimbrell one- one pitch that's a Fly ball in a shallow right field on a back pedal it is Westbook joined by Henderson but Westberg calls him off and makes the catch for out number one and about to add another one from this year's Phillies team and last year's in Gregory stto who the Orioles dealt for Seth Johnson the organization's best pitching Prospect so you add some reinforcements to a bullpen which has had a tough July 519 ER this month that is 24th out of 1 teams Dominguez misses low with a hard slider one ball and no strikes so you wanted to get a right-handed option as Michael IAS was telling us a left-handed option two and the nice thing about guys like Dominguez and stto they both have closing experience the 1 a strike over the outside corner one and one Craig Kimbrell got into the game last night in a spot where the Orioles were trailing by four runs but the command was still shaking a 1-1 breaking ball a strike over the inside corner one and two RS are hoping that Kimbrell can figure it out like he did before but last four and two3 innings Kimbrell's pitch he's given up nine runs and his two blown saves one two pitch wave and a miss for strike three a slider a little bit softer that time but swept away from Jimenez it's the second out of the top of the ninth inning and the Orioles need just one more the ninth inning call to action is inspired by Catholic Charity's movement to love your neighbor together we can have a positive impact and make our community stronger get invol with c Charities and love your neighbor at cc-md.org love love you neighbor the pitch and that's a line drive foul down the first base line for strike one six runs 11 hits no airs for the O's two runs five hits and an air for Toronto Corbin Burns in line to pick up his 11th win of the year which Trails only Grayson Rodriguez on this O's team an effort where he nearly completed seven innings o and one against baroa with the Rus in and off the line at third big righty comes home and the 01 is down one ball and one strike Grayson Rodriguez will have a chance to go for win number 13 tomorrow first pitch 1235 we will be on the air at noon 1-1 check swing foul it'll fly out of play on the third base side one and two and we heard from Michael L during the game today it feels like the orals addressed all the needs that they had at the trade deadline but it seems like we're going to also hear again from him in pregame tomorrow onew pitch fast ball bring him up strike three over the outside corner at 98 bucket for the birds they win it by a final score of 6-2 as s Anthony Dominguez finishes it off and Corbin Burns picks up his 11th win with his latest quality start six and 2/3 Innings of two-run baseball for Corbin Burns Anthony santand hits home run number 31 now the Orioles get multi RBI games from oarn and duas and tomorrow can take the series against the Blue Jays before heading on the road final score orial 6 Blue JS 2 we'll have a recap next on the Orioles
