Ranking All 32 NFL Teams’ Defenses For The 2024 Season From WORST To FIRST

there's some carryover from last year with top defenses like the Baltimore Ravens I'm talking about specifically the defense of the Baltimore Ravens you are trash [Music] what let's get into it and rank all 32 NFL defenses based on what we expect out of them this upcoming season from worst to first number 32 Carolina Panthers yeah not a huge shocker here as they likely be amongst the worst teams in the League this season the group was bad the last couple of years to begin with and now they have to learn to adjust a life without Brian Burns who is far and away their best defensive player who they dealt to the Giants for next to nothing I might add not to mention the fact that they have a firsttime head coach in the building and Dave Canales yeah don't expect much out of the defense in Charlotte number 31 Jacksonville Jaguars there is a bit of optimism in Duval about the team overall but the defense still has a lot of work to do some pundits are excited about the potential that the Jaguars defensive line has under DC Ryan neelon who should be well equipped to rotate guys in and out and create chaos for opposing quarterbacks with the way that this group finished the 2023 season however we're just going to have to wait and see it in order to actually believe it number 30 Arizona Cardinals with a lot of Youth and inexperience on the defensive side of the ball many expected to be a tough year in the desert the Cardinals might flash potential here and there but don't expect much of a cohesive shutdown unit by any stretch of the imagination number 29 New York Giants the Giants defense was a pleasant surprise and an otherwise horrible 2023 season and you know they've got the pieces to be even better in 2024 Kon Tibido looks like he's finally developing into the star that they expected when they snagged him second overall and the secondary is poised to improve if they can build on last year's success this could be a top 15 unit by mid year number 28 New England Patriots the Patriots defense is historically been one of their calling cards but uh well let's face it those days are done and this year feels like and will likely be very different especially now that they've dealt their best player on the defensive side of the ball and Matthew judon for a measly third round pick if they want any hope of being competitive they'll need some young players to step up but they also don't have Bill bich schemes as he's been usurped by firste head coach Jared Mayo who is definitely going to have his hands full trying to compete in a deep AFC East number 27 Buffalo Bills with the departure of longtime secondary stalwarts travius white and Jordan puyer this bill's defense is going to look unfamiliar this season yes head coach sea mcder has developed a strong defensive culture but there are simply way too many question marks to confidently project them any higher than this number 26 Washington commanders Washington's defense has some young talented players but they're likely going to be a boomer bust unit capable of big plays but also very vulnerable to giving up yards and chunks until they start to really mature as a group they will hover near the bottom though it is worth noting that they are in good hands with Dan Quinn taken over that team number 25 Los Angeles Rams and so that Aaron Donald era is officially over leaving many to wonder what exactly this Rams defense will actually look like without the all Universe defensive lineman the Rams were wise to add talent to the line through the draft with tackle braen Frisk and Ed rusher Jared Burse but even so that is a big hole to fill number 24 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Todd BS may be a talented defensive-minded head coach and it was critical that the team retained safety andw Winfield Jr which hey it did but the Bucks will need to find a way to get consistent linebacker play to pull together a strong enough defensive unit in order to compete in the NFC number 23 Miami Dolphins the loss of Christian Wilkins is really going to hurt Miami is rolling the dice with veteran additions like Jordan poyer to the secondary now that said if he still has gas in the tank this unit could really start to come together number 22 Tennessee Titans the expectations in Nashville for the first season post Mike Vel are awfully low but the Titans did make some nice moves to build a foundation for the defense by trading for leria Sneed and signing chidobe aier so the future can potentially be bright here number 21 Minnesota Vikings the Vikings defense was inconsistent at Best in 2023 but they were navigating a lot of injuries both on the actual defense and the Fallout of losing their starting quarterback KT cousins during the middle of a play playoff run now that mini has brought in Brian Flores into the fold to call the shots on the defensive side of the ball there is a bit of a renewed sense of hope about this group number 20 Indianapolis Colts the Colts defense is solid across the board but lacked the star power needed to really differentiate itself they've got a strong front seven but the secondary is a big question mark if they can improve their pass coverage they could move up their rankings but for now expectations are still somewhat low number 19 Green Bay Packers as we saw during last year's surprising playoff run and the subsequent dismantling of the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs the Packers have a solid foundation on defense with stars like jier Alexander in the secondary and a steadily improving front seven there is potential here for them to climb the rankings very quickly number 18 Detroit Lions the Lions defense is on the rise thanks to the culture of toughness led by head coach Dan Campbell and Elite pass rushing ability of Aiden Hutchinson there's still work to be done but expect this group to make a huge leap forward from where it was in 2023 number 17 Seattle Seahawks with the way that Devon weather spoon emerged as a star in Seattle's defensive secondary last year there is reason to believe that the Seahawks D could be trending in the right direction it's clear that the team is focusing on that aspect of the game with their decision to draft Byron Murphy II out of Texas to their dline 16th overall and hiring Mike McDonald as their new head coach McDonald was the orchestrator of the Ravens defense over the last couple of seasons and has proven that he has a unique ability to mix and match pieces and create exceptionally challenging schemes for opposing offenses to navigate number 16 New Orleans Saints there is reason to be excited about how the Saints defense is shaping up for this upcoming season the secondary is among the most intimidating in the league with Marshon Latimore and Tyron Matthew holding it down if New Orleans can find a way to get consistent contributions out of former number one overall pick Chase young which they very May well be pairing him with a pro like Cameron Jordan up front this group could improve exceptionally quickly number 15 Chicago Bears the Bears defense has a lot of Promise heading into 2024 but even more approve the addition of mon sweat to the defensive line last year did signal a change in the right direction and made an impact on the field almost immediately but the secondary still has question marks the Bears are banking on a lot out of Jaylen Johnson at cornerback even with the safety support from Jain brisker and Kevin byard number 14 Las Vegas Raiders there's a chance that this Raiders defense really comes into its own this season during Antonio Pierce's First full year at the helm Las Vegas already has one of the most talented and hardest working players in the game with Max cros be leading the way on the edge and it added Christian Wilkins to the interior of the dline with these two wreaking havoc there will be minimal pressure on the secondary and this group could really make some waves number 13 Dallas Cowboys the Cowboys have one of the best defensive players in the game in Micah Parsons but you know there are way too many question marks around the rest of the unit to put them in the top 10 Trayvon digs is obviously talented in their secondary but his play style is just way too Boomer bust it'll be interesting to see what Mike Zimmer can do to help rain digs in and turn this cowboys de defense into one that can hold its own against actual contenders this year you know not just beat up on scrub offenses number 12 Atlanta Falcons up until the Matthew judon trade the Falcons were quietly building a formidable defense with a pass rush that looks to be much improved this could be one of the surprise units in 2024 so hey don't sleep on the Falcons this year number 11 Pittsburgh Steelers Pittsburgh's defense is as tough as they come you know as long as their all World Talent at defensive end TJ watt is actually healthy otherwise we've seen how scary it can get he is just that much of a game changer number 10 Philadelphia Eagles the Eagles are loaded with young Talent on defense particularly on the defensive line with Jaylen Carter and Jordan Davis which is why their stumble in the second half of the 2023 season was so puzzling that said vic fangio's arrival as defensive coordinator is expected to bring a more disciplined and aggressive approach which should certainly help get this group back on track number nine Cleveland Bur Browns the Browns defense was up and down in 2023 but that was largely due to a ridiculous onslaught of injuries this season they look stacked particularly on the defensive line with Miles Garrett still leading the charge and the addition of zarius Smith on the edge and Jim Schwarz as defensive coordinator this unit has the potential to be a real force to be reckoned with Number Eight Houston Texans will Anderson showed all the makings of a potential star during his rookie season in Houston notching seven sacks and 45 tackles coming off the edge now that the Texans have a confidence of that 2023 playoffs run under their belt and have made key additions on that side of the ball with guys like denil Hunter and aiz aler and at linebacker they could make a big step forward this season number seven Cincinnati Bengals look the Lost of DJ reader is really going to hurt but since he did well to retool on defense with Sheldon rankins and Lan rumo has proven to be one of the most competent defensive coordinators in the game with the way that he's revamped that defense since taking over in 2019 with Joe burrow coming back to Le the offense look for this group to be playing some inspired football at a very high level this season number six Denver Broncos the Broncos defense has been the team's backbone for years with Vance Joseph back as defensive coordinator they're expected to be strong again in 2024 they've got a solid secondary led by budding star Patrick ceran II and a lot to prove in year two of the Shawn pton era number five San Francisco 49ers the 49ers defense has been among the League's best for years now in 2020 4 should be no exception Unfortunately they did have a couple of painful cap casualties but they were able to retain Nick bza and Fred wer which was absolutely critical plus a few newcomers such as Malik Collins and Leonard Floyd up front will pick up the slack for some of the talent that left for big contracts number four New York Jets with Quinn and Williams anchoring the defensive line and S Gardner and DJ Reed locking down the secondary this unit is stacked plain and simple they have been playing at an elite level for a couple of years now in spite of having zero ability to play complimentary football due to the ineptness of the New York offense under Zach Wilson so if Aaron roders can return from injury and play at even like 75% of his peak level that could open up a whole new world of opportunities for a defense that has typically had to shoulder the entire weight of the team number three Los Angeles Chargers with Joey Bosa and K ma coming off the edge and Jim Harbaugh heading the tone as their new head coach this pass rush and this defense could really be terrifying the Chargers have talent went all over the field they just needed the right voice to finally bring it all together number two Kansas City Chiefs the Chiefs did the one thing this off season that they absolutely had to do in order to maintain the structural Integrity of their defense The oneman Wrecking Crew on their defensive line they were unfortunately forced to trade Leger Sneed who is a pace Setter for their secondary but Steve Spano has done a good job of molding his aggressive defensive schemes to match the talent that He has on the roster number one Baltimore for Ravens the Ravens defense has been a model of consistency for years now and I think 2024 should be no different even with the loss of defensive coordinator Mike McDonald who took the head job in Seattle and linebacker Patrick Queen this unit remains absolutely stacked but which NFL defense do you think is the tops in the league where does your favorite NFL team stack up who do you think we got right here who do you think we got wrong is there anything that we may have missed let us know in the comment section below if you like this video and learned a thing or two clicking the like button helps out a ton and hey
