September 13th and today's top news a victory for former president Trump in one of his ongoing legal battles a Georgia Jud has dismissed two charges in the election case against him now it's being called Victory for him but we also want to note right that most of the case is still intact yeah this is a pretty sprawling indictment I mean at one point you had 41 counts against 19 defendants and right now though the RICO charge is still there that's the big one and the defendant strategy from the beginning has just been to whittle this case down which is exactly what we're seeing here an nd's Daniel manahan has more on the ruling and an update in Trump's New York case All fton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ruled yesterday that prosecutors lacked the authority to bring charges related to filing false documents in federal court this reduces the original 13 count indictment brought by district attorney fonny Willis to 8 the case is on hold pending further appeals with questions about the prosecution's authority still under consideration Trump's legal team called the ruling a Victor with attorney Steve sadow saying president Trump and his legal team in Georgia have prevailed once again over to New York where there was a development in Trump's business records case the presidential hopefuls gag order will remain in place the New York appeals court yesterday declined to take up the matter rejecting two attempts from his team to lift the gag order the gag order prevents Trump from publicly discussing any specific prosecutor courts staffer or their family members related to his criminal conviction in New York judge Juan Maran did lift portions of the gag order in June Trump's attorneys had challenged both the initial gag order and the modified gag order earlier this year Trump was convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records sentencing in the case has been delayed until late November Daniel Monahan NTD news former president Trump says there Trump Rejects Second Debate with Harris won't be another debate he spoke at a rally in Arizona yesterday and to's Washington correspondent J Bradley has a story it looks like there won't be another presidential debate before the election on Thursday former president Donald Trump rejected any future debates he wrote on Truth social when a prize fighter loses a fight the first words out of his mouth are I want to rematch kamla should focus on what she should have done during the last Almost 4-year period there will no third debate this comes after his debate with President Biden back in June and just Tuesday's debate with Harris hosted by ABC which was watched by 67 million Americans after that Harris said she would agree to a second debate with Trump trump said he would think about it but now we have a clear answer and on the campaign Trail the Grand Canyon State is in the spotlight on Thursday Trump is rallying in Tucson working to win over undecided voters in this swing state then he heads to California for an evening fundrais and around the same time just miles away vice president kamla Harris's husband Doug mhof is holding a campaign event also in Tucson Arizona has historically favored Republican presidential candidates voting Trump in 2016 and nearly reelecting him in 2020 President Joe Biden won the state by. 3% now Biden is the first Democrat to win Arizona since 1996 and by a narrow margin before that it had been another 50 years since since a Democrat won the state next week Trump will hold a town hall in Flint Michigan where he's likely to discuss policy proposals relating to inflation and the Auto industry Trump's against a growing push to transition from gas powered vehicles to electric and he says that gas powered car banss will put announced yesterday that he will eliminate taxes on overtime pay if he's elected this follows his previous proposal to end taxes on tips for service workers and kamla Harris made Harris Confirms She Wants a 2nd Debate her first post debate campaign stop in North Carolina yesterday and called for another debate and Tod's Jason Blair brings us the update with polls showing a tight race the Harris campaign has eyes on the state that will most likely decide the presidential election vice president kamla Harris is visiting North Carolina with back-to-back rallies on Thursday she is first in Charlotte and then Greensboro a few hours later I believe we owe it to the voters to have another debate this election and what is at stake could not be more important Harris's running mate Tim wals is in Michigan and the second gentleman Douglas mhof has started a two-day tour spanning Arizona Nevada and Florida on Friday night Harris will be in wilberry Pennsylvania for a rally of the seven Battleground States Pennsylvania has the most electoral votes with 19 and according to current poll averages by real clear politics is the closest race reporting in Washington DC Jason Blair ND news for some insight into the Trump campaign we invite Jeff career he's a What's Next for Trump's Campaign political analyst and TV radio host hi Jeff Hey Kevin Hey good to see you so Trump's getting a little B momentum he's got those two charges dropped him dropped against him in Georgia case probably going to put a little bit of spin on that whereas Harris she's picked up the endorsement of Swift and that brought 400,000 voters to vote.gov so what's going to happen next in Trump's campaign here what does he have to do well I mean I think uh he's getting some uh boost as far as the the law fair and that's good for him uh he can focus more on the campaign uh I think the next big event of course is the VP debate uh coming up and they're going to want a strong performance there uh I think the president made a lot of news saying no more debates and you know I think it was a wise decision Kevin because I mean he's had seven debates since he became a presidential candidate he's been in the spotlight for decades people know him so uh it's just getting out the vote and and getting those uh that small sliver of undecided votes those people in the middle in those seven Battleground states are going to determine this election and Harris feels like she got a boost out of it because you know she is uh feeling good and optimistic and she did better than the low expectations were about her so both candidates I think feel like uh they've got a boost and are moving forward yeah well is is President Trump really aware that he's running against Harris and not Biden I mean is he still spinning from this whole change up that was thrown at him you talked about it in the debate I mean even Harris had to say hey he's running against me not Biden Kevin the American people are spinning I mean this has never been done before where you have a switch I mean uh Joe Biden has been the president uh people were assuming Joe Biden was going to be the candidate uh and now it's kamla Harris and she didn't go through any primaries didn't win any delegates so I think it is sort of quite a a Switcheroo the interesting thing is I'm glad you brought up Joe B I mean he puts on a Donald Trump hat uh that's so strange he talks about Unity when he's been attacking Maga so much that sort of took the wind out of the sales of Harris after the debate to see you know the president put on a Maga hat so hey people CH this has been the strangest this the strangest election Kevin that we've ever seen well Jeff let's go to the Sun Belt Trump's got some efforts in Arizona we just saw him in a rally in Tucson there and he's got the Turning Point action this Grassroots voter movement that's trying to drive up the margins there there were 230,000 Republicans reportedly who didn't vote in the 2020 election and they're just trying to get them to come out is that an effective strategy that is uh that's been a real problem for Republicans you've had Evangelical voters you've had traditional Republican voters that haven't been voting could be because of the uh division we have in the Republican party uh I think it might be wise for president Trump to try to utilize Nikki Haley Moore in these last few weeks of the campaign try to get her vote uh on board she's already endorsed the president but maybe utiliz her more I think turning point is a big weapon that the Republicans have that they didn't have before they got people like Scott pressler's doing a good job of uh registering Republicans and getting them out so everyone realizes Kevin this is going to be so close Democrats are doing the same thing on their side mobilizing people as best they can so it's going to be razor th in Arizona just like the other states I just saw a poll for the senate race in Arizona and Carrie lake has cut the margin so she's only a few points down so we've got uh seven states are going to determine the election for all fif all all of us in 50 states so that's where the action's going to be over these next few weeks so let's go back to the debate they just finished up the second presidential debate first was against Biden with Trump and then now Harris and Trump says that he did well he won by a lot and that there's no more need for debates but Harris is calling for another one how are voters going to view this you know I think it's split I think Harris voters won another uh debate I think Trump voters have had enough and uh you know there's really a thinking that it was a three-on-one debate that the moderators were in Harris's camp and I think there's a lot of evidence for that now and people that really support president Trump are wondering you know why subject yourself to another debate that's going to be by now the one thing that I'm going to throw out there is maybe a possibility he could be using this as a negotiation to try to see if he can get better uh terms from Harris as far as moderators as far as venue on a network that's not as anti-trump so we know ABC has not been very favorable to the president the moderators weren't favorable so uh this could be a negotiating ploy to try to get a better situation for another debate but it seems like that that's a remote possibility the more likely scenario is that we're not going to see him again and we just have this one VP debate and uh that's going to be it it's going to be advertisements and get out the vote from here until election day well it is a little bit surprising that Trump went through with this in the first place considering his defamation lawsuit against ABC News surrounding that egene Carroll case Harris took in about $47 million in the day after the debate that's a lot of money the campaign finances are huge in this election and do you think that that is why former president Trump is a little bit cautious here could be uh Harris uh beat expectations no doubt about it Kevin and she got a boost and um I think president Trump feels he did well enough to say hey no more but you know Harris has been doing a good job fundraising I mean the Democrat fortunes have been lifted tremendously with her as the nominee remember when Joe Biden was a nominee they couldn't raise money they were having a hard time getting their donors on board board now with Harris they're enthusiastic she's raising the money so we're going to see a lot of Harris ads from now until election day because she's got lots and lots of money that's right well hopefully we don't get any election stress if people bring this up at work we're going to talk about that later but do appreciate you coming on Jeff Jeff career political analyst and TV radio host thanks thanks Kevin moving on about 33,000 Boeing workers are on strike today that's after Boeing Workers Are on Strike union members Governor Chris cunu has signed a bill that will make voter ID laws in the state stricter voters will need to provide proof of citizenship when registering and show ID before voting the law will take effect 60 days after the November 5th general election it was passed by the Republican leg legislature in May tunu says the bill aims to to bolster trust in the election process although he emphasized that New Hampshire's elections are already secure critics argue that the new requirements could disenfranchise voters and lead to costly legal challenges the law will eliminate the state's current system which allows voting without ID a North Dakota judge overturns the state's near total abortion ban North Dakota Judge Overturns State Abortion Ban yesterday's ruling clears the way for abortion and rape or incest within the first six weeks of pregnancy and now some updates from Harris Plans to Expand Obamacare, Lower Insurance Costs Harris's campaign on her stance on Healthcare according to her web page she plans to build on her work as California attorney general taking on insurance companies and big Pharma to lower prices and she plans to strengthen Obamacare and expand on President Biden's efforts to lower prescription drug prices for Medicare recipients for an in-depth discussion on the specifics of this and how it could play out I spoke to Hadley Heath Manning she's the Executive Vice President of the steamboat Institute it was with great anticipation finally comma Harris posted her policy platform as a presidential candidate and part of that was her Health Care Program one of the questions I think that uh people were having about her positioning is would she support a Medicare for all program as she supported as a US senator she sponsored legislation to that end would she support an even harsher form of Medicare for all which would abolish private insurance based on one interaction she had in a 2019 debate when she ran for president at that time or would she soften and moderate on this issue and ultimately that's where she has ended up she is uh now saying that she will try her best to support the existing healthcare system which is of course um based on a 2010 law Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act so in the leadup to this Senator Tom Cotton did an interview in which he took issue with Harris's stance of eliminating Private health insurance but the interviewer said that she no longer supports that but cotton pushed back and saying how do you know that's not her real goal can you elaborate a little bit more on just what her outline in text actually could translate into sure well one of the key things she says in her website platform which we understand to be a very barebones bullet point type of of document she says Healthcare is a right it's something that she wants to Ure that every American has and of course as a lawmaker the implication would be there's some kind of government guarantee of healthare or health insurance so I expected Harris to come out somewhere maybe in favor of a public option or a Medicare for all that would allow the coexistence of private insurance at least in name only to avoid some of these criticisms that she's rightfully facing from her political opposition about abolishing Private health insurance however there was no mention of a public option I think Harris is trying to moderate at this point and show some flexibility not all flexibility is bad of course when you're the president you may not set policy you may have to sign whatever Bill ends up at your de of works when it comes to something as broad as Healthcare reform however I think based on Harris's AC in the past we can guess that if the Overton window were to shift if Medicare for all were to become a political possibility she would still support um such a left-leaning option and Hadley how would Harris's proposals impact the average American looking to get health insurance right well right now what we have seen over the course of time since the 2010 law which was named the Affordable Care Act is that Healthcare continues to get less and less affordable for most Americans because of the high premiums that we pay and also some of the high deductibles that we've continued to see going up up up so unfortunately the Affordable Care Act hasn't achieved one of its key goals which was to lower the cost of Health Care in the United States doubling down on this approach as Harris now says is her platform is the plank of of healthcare policy and her platform is I'm afraid unfortunately not going to get to the root of those healthcare costs so Hadley we both know that the presidential candidates are in sales mode right now the elections in just under two months is there a way to ask for more specifics would that be necessary in terms of pinning down this exact policy proposal I think so I think in an interview with Harris members of the media or her political opposition in a debate setting should ask Cara specifically if Congress were to put a bill on her desk that advanced for example a public option for health insurance or an expansion of Medicaid or an expansion of Medicare through lowering the eligibility um age for Medicaid would she agree to those changes to what degree does she believe that the government should expand eligibility for those programs because that's also a backd door way to get Medicare for all and ultimately I believe she needs to answer the question once again how does she feel about any government role of the state or federal level that would abolish Private health insurance because that's something where it's it's not been very clear in the past where she stood on that issue so I think she needs to finally speak with clarity now well it was great hearing your analysis this morning Hadley Manning Executive Vice President of the steamboat Institute thank you thank you New York City Police Commissioner Edward kaban has resigned a week Vladimir zalinski says Russian shelling killed three Red Cross workers he called it quote another Russian war crime Ukrainian officials said the three staffers killed were all Ukrainian Nationals here's the latest update Russia released this footage on Thursday saying it shows its troops operating in the kers region where Ukraine launched an incursion last month it also showed troops building a temporary bridge over a river Ukraine has previously destroyed multiple bridges in the region to cut off Russian troops Russia now says it has recaptured 10 settlements in the kers region Ukrainian President Vladimir zalinski confirmed that Russia launched a counter offensive saying Ukraine was prepared for it the Pentagon said this about Russia's Counterattack on Thursday at this stage I would uh say that it's uh you know marginal but something obviously that we're we're keeping an eye on zinski renewed calls for Ukraine to be allowed to use long range capabilities against Russia that's the Strike weapons stored in Russia prolonging this process of lifting long-range restrictions leads to the fact that Russia is moving these military targets deeper into Russian territory Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday said ukra doesn't have the technology to use longrange weapons without direct help from NATO member countries this will mean that NATO countries the United States and European countries are fighting against Russia and if this is so then we will make appropriate decisions based on the threats that will be created for us a reporter asked the Pentagon about media reports saying the state department is considering removing the long range restrictions on Ukraine I've certainly seen the Press reports on that I would tell you uh there has been no change to our policy I don't have anything to announce uh and certainly if there are any changes we'll let you know but as of today and Russia was also active near Alaska the North American Aerospace Defense command published a tweet saying nored detected tracked and intercepted two Russian military aircraft operating in Alaska on Wednesday NORAD fighter Jets from the United States conducted The Intercept the statement added that the Russian action is not seen as a threat and that nored will continue to monitor competitor activity a bipartisan group of lawmakers FL Lawmakers Unveil Bill to Sanction Maduro Regime unveiled new legislation that would strengthen us sanctions on the Venezuelan regime our Washington correspondent Luise Martinez has more on the story The Valor Act a bipartisan Bill presented by Republican Congress woman Mar Salasar would blug US foreign assistance to any country providing assistance except humanitarian Aid to the Venezuelan regime in a statement congresswoman Salasar made it clear that a message needs to be sent loud and clear that the United States will be doing no more business with the Maduro dictatorship that's uh something that we need to do and the Biden Administration needs to do instead of rewarding the Maduro regime we need to start punishing them regime and yes companies that are doing business with the regime putting money in the pocket of these Crooks need to be sanctioned right just wanting to stand with the Venezuelan Community against what what's going on in Venezuela within the government and so trying to do that on a bipartisan basis Congressman Cory Mills argued that it is in the National Security interest of the United States to find a solution to the Venezuelan crisis our our greatest threat isn't sitting in Ukraine 9,000 Mi away it's in our own Hemisphere and we're sitting here ignoring it we need to have a seat at the table so even if you don't agree what the shabas are doing or you don't believe what's happening in Venezuela you still at least need a a seat at the table to understand what's happening so we can actually play a role there because if not the Russia China Iran North Korea geopolitical alignment is going to grow stronger and stronger in our own Hemisphere and then we're going not going to have anything north and south of us to be able to rely upon the state department announced 16 new sanctions against the Maduro regime the Venezuelan regime claimed victory in the July 27 presidential elections and the state department has accused the regime of tampering with the results falsely claiming Victory and widespread repression to maintain power opposition presidential candidate edmundo Gonzalez is currently in Exile in Spain the Spanish government has recognized Gonzalez as the president-elect of Venezuela it is important to note that Representatives Mills Salasar himz and moscowitz are all congressmen from the state of Florida where approximately 380,000 Venezuelans live reporting from Washington DC Lu Eduardo Martinez NTD news the Venezuelan government rejected the new sanctions calling them a quote crime of aggression now we're moving on to friends a few Debate Over Notre-Dame Stained Glass Heats Up weeks before the nram cathedral re re uh reopens an old controversy is resurfacing the French president wants to replace some centuries old stained glass windows with contemporary ones but it faces opposition from both the government and public opinion but president macron is standing by his decision for now and's International correspondent WWV has the story this is the last step for notam Cathedral furniture and Cathedral elements are being reinstalled prior to its reopening yesterday the eight Bells arrived and will be installed over the next 3 weeks but one of the cathedral feature is fueling a heated debate the stained glass windows created in the 19th century they were designed by Renown architect janul luk and are considered by many art historians and Heritage experts as integral to the cathedral's historical identity they might be replaced by contemporary Windows following a decision made by Emanuel macron in December 2023 Macon said he wanted to Mark the period of fire and restoration with the new windows Emanuel macron has decided all on his own to change the stained glass windows in six of the Chapels on the south aisle of the cathedral a petition on the tribun website has been signed by almost 200,000 people opposing the president's decision the ministry of culture in 2020 also ruled out the president's decision in July the national Botox Injections American Academy of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery almost 75% of facial plastic surgeons say that more patients under 30 are now requesting surgery or injectables one very popular treatment is Botox to delay the aging process but could they be aging you instead so joining me now is Bruce Herman to talk about this he's a board certified plastic surgeon morning Bruce there we go um so there are these videos of people in their early 20s online but they look do look older than they are and they actually go viral for it so let's talk about this could preventative Botox actually do the opposite perhaps and make people look well look appear older in the very least sure that's definitely possible if people get overdone whether that be Botox or fillers it tends to make them look like older people who more naturally seek those treatments so it's definitely a possibility if it's overdone for sure so talk to me about maybe is should there be an age limit is it something that needs to be avoided and how yeah um in in my if you're going to go for Botox being in your 20s is definitely a bit too early Botox is a muscle paralytic it paralyzes the muscles that give us wrinkles that make us look older and people in their 20s really don't have those wrinkles to begin with so in my practice I usually recommend around 30s is about the time that's best to start that 20s I think is definitely too early so what about people in their 20s what are for those that are concerned developing wrinkles um what are some other Alternatives that they could look at absolutely having a good skin care regimen is one of the best things that people can do to prevent the aging process and and starting in your 20s or even your teens is a good idea now that doesn't have to be a super complex routine where you're spending hundreds of dollars using a good cleanser to clean the skin a good moisturizer to keep the skin moisturizer and sunscreen protection will do a long a lot to get your skin staying youthful as you get into your older years right sunscreen is is definitely a big one I also heard some people talk about retinol or something like that are there any like that that you can recommend uh sure retinols can be used to uh to help the skin stay young in in the 20s it's probably a little bit too early mostly for younger people we recommend a very simple skinc care routine once again just cleanser moisturizer and sunscreen unless you're trying to uh treat a specific issue with the skin which usually happens as people age so for younger people Simplicity is usually the best got it so let's talk about uh some of the mental health issues as well there are dermatologists that had told USA Today that this trend of plastic surgery and in injections it could be feeling a type of anxiety in the younger generation especially when it comes to their looks and just having any type of wrinkles what do you think could be the effect there yeah I mean I definitely agree with that you know this generation is the first that's totally wrapped up in social media and I think that that's playing a huge effect in this desire for younger people to seek out these cosmetic procedures they're seeing people online that are doing these procedures they're seeing people that are influencers that are trying to look their best and I think they feel that pressure and I I think it definitely can be harmful if people let it become an obsession uh there's nothing wrong with wanting to to to look your best and stay young as as much as possible when it comes an obsession where people are doing procedures that they don't need spending all these money and potentially uh having you know issues or complications from these treatments then is definitely a problem and I actually have heard just a quick Google gives us you know there's a bunch of different Hypes and Trends out there there's things like Barbie Botox what I came across this morning a trend to make the neck appear longer Mass Botox to slim down the shape of one's face all kinds of things are there concerns around doing these face altering procedures in the end especially at a young age but also in general yeah for sure you know once again social media is playing into this because you know something like Barbie Botox will be seeing on Tik Tok Instagram and it goes viral and then people are asking about it um you know most of these things are not necessarily harmful in in themselves like going and getting Botox and your trapezius muscle which is the Barbie Botox is not necessarily going to harm you but at the point that it becomes an obsession where people are just constantly trying to alter their appearance I mean it I think it's definitely is something that can be harmful to one's you know mental health so uh yeah I mean it once again young people getting wrapped up in so many procedures to the young age is definitely something that we're seeing a little bit more of and and once again is being fueled by social media got it so it sounds like it's more the mental health issue rather than um the physical because I actually have also yes heard about you know concerns about how well our bodies act actually break down the toxins that are being injected for instance yeah for for Botox our body does a really good job of breaking that down and that's not as as big of an issue you know where that becomes an issue is fillers there's been some research papers out recently that talk about how injectable fillers for the lips or their face can last a lot longer than then maybe the manufacturer says there's been some some studies showing MRIs to people years later after fillers that they're still there so you know with the botox I don't think that's quite as big of an issue our body does break that down pretty well fillers can be a different story for the most part people break those down as recommended but not everybody so uh there is definitely some truth to that I see so I it feels like just it goes a long way to find somebody that is responsible handling these types of um inje yeah and if you so if people are wanting to try it and it sounds like you know beginning 30s would be a good time what are some of the things to look out for to make sure it doesn't backfire and just be safe uh I say a couple things if you're going to go and get procedures like this you definitely want to go a place that's reputable you know places that are run by plastic surgeons for sure cosmetic dermatologists are very reliable you know depending on what state you live in the laws surrounding places like Med Spas can can vary greatly and some places there's not a regulation so you definitely want to find a place that that has good oversight and has somebody that knows um you know all about these procedures because that's not the case with every place depending on which state you're in uh also you definitely don't want to overdo things things you know one of the worst things that I see is when people go in and get these treatments and they just get overdone and that plays into people looking a lot older than they actually are so you know going to a place that's reputable and and being somewhat conservative when you're going after these treatments is a good idea got it thank you so much Bruce Herman I appreciate your insights this morning yeah thank you so much for having Carpenter's Union Delivers Aid to Firefighters me now we're moving on to union carpenters they helped out in the battle against the massive Southern California wildfires they delivered much needed relief supplies to support Crews fighting the fire your entities BJ K with more on their efforts as the Southern California bridge fire continues to ravage nearly up to 50,000 Acres of the Angeles National Forest a local chapter of union carpenters is doing their part by delivering much needed relief supplies to the firefighters battling the blaze at the Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection have set up a fire camp where local chapter 661 of the western State's Regional Council of Carpenters have arrived to donate supplies uh we're here delivering water Gatorade uh ganol bars you know uh wipes things to be able to uh get some nutrients back in uh to be able to fight this fire we're here to support them 100% bridge fire information officer Nathan Judy told me that the fire department outsources to catering companies and food vendors for their daily food requirements and don't usually accept food donations but the fire department's good relationship with the Carpenters Union prompted them to make an exception they're local here to Ellie County um so we understood their um their their willingness to supply the firefighters again we don't we don't need donations we don't ask for donations but we appreciated uh their their heartfelt donation that they wanted to give to us they wanted to give back their Union um they want to give out to Firefighters and a lot of our firefighters are unionized as well so Union reaching out to Union we asked what inclined the union chapter to help out with supplies yes uh the western states Regional Council we uh we're a strong supporter of this community we want to build community if we're uh we're we're stronger if we're stronger together and uh we're here to build as a team we're here to lift everybody up not just ourselves and and we uh we're here to mainly support uh these firefighters who are putting their lives on the line to be able to do uh their job and to keep us safe and so we feel we need to do our part as well and and do a little token Judy says that those looking to help out like the Carpenters Union should send monetary donations He suggests reaching out to local fire departments evacuation centers and Red Cross centers to see if they need those donations but he also says that the overall support the community has given has been immensely touching uh really the the donations we appreciate but it's the the heartfelt things from the community we've seen signs people will make signs and put them next to their communities thanking the firefighters reaching out saying thank you we've had had cards come from schools before where schools will write thank you cards to the firefighters those things are really heartfelt and we appreciate those BJ K ntdtv California on that note let's head to a quick break we'll be right back with a second hour and more news stay [Music] tuned as we naturally age many people days after two Delta Airline flights collided on a taxi way at Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson international airport it's election season and you Alleviating Election-Related Stress know what that means it's very likely someone's going to bring up politics and it can happen at work well we talk about politics a lot hopefully we don't have too much election stress but this can lead to election related stress but don't worry we have some tips on how to manage it I spoke to Dr Marie Ellen Peltier she's an award-winning workplace mental health expert and psychologist and the author of The resilience plan a strategic approach to optimizing your work performance and mental health here's our talk yes yes and absolutely I'm glad we're having this conversation Kevin because the reality is that when there are changes politically like in election it does represent a stressor and it's a very unique stressor because it is a collective one a relatively H chronic one will H which will happen over time and it impacts everyone one way or the other in fact in the 2020 US presidential elections 40% of us adults reported that it was a significant stressor for them and so in the workplace if we're already bringing people together people come from different backgrounds if we bring politics in the mix which is deeply personal connects with emotions then it does bring potential for tensions so what can employers do to help alleviate some of this tension yes there are things employers can do and the tendency is to not do them hope that nothing's going to be a problem uh or ask people not to talk about politics which is probably not realistic instead we want to lead uh this situation and so examples of actions employers can take is co-create guidelines meaning we create a committee and together we decide in this particular workplace given our mission given our values what makes sense for us to guide all of us through this challenging situation that's one example another one is for leaders to model this that's really fascinating yeah and I want to add to that there's a writer for HR magazine in the UK wisdom Paul she says that politics are usually kept private at work but they do come out sometimes and it can be gut-wrenching anxiety that results and she says the active voting can improve mental health because it Fosters this sense of control and self-determination and so she says employers need to probably give some flexible hours on Election Day so people can actually go out to vote your comments on that absolutely anytime we're feeling anxious or uncomfortable about a situation the act of being active in our cing therefore taking action like voting is something that's going to help taking actions like what I was talking about earlier also getting involved in committees whether it's at work or outside of work will also help and so yes employers providing flexibility employers encouraging people to form their own political opinions and possibly sharing how it is yes challenging for all of us and we will navigate this together so MH can you give us an example of like how this might play out someone brings up something and you're really passionate about it you don't want to get into this big heated conversation but maybe you want to chime in and kind of relieve some of that stress that's right well so one of the guidelines is to use eye language so you're talking about what you believe your own um belief system and if someone else is expressing something that's completely different from what you believe you can still look for ways to be empathic so I might say something like Kevin sounds like you're very passionate about your perspective on this mine is very different and it's great that we're both here in this organization focused on our team project today civil conversation it sounds like a really great strategy Dr Marie Ellen Peltier author of The resilience plan and award-winning workplace mental health expert and psychologist government for 30 years New York city mayor Eric Adams has appointed a former FBI official as interim commissioner no more debate that's what former president Trump said while campaigning in Tucson Arizona at the same time vice president Kamala Harris was pushing for another debate during a rally in North Carolina and now that Paris 2024 is LA Drums Up Support for Olympics, Paralympics officially over the focus is Shifting to the 2028 Olympic and Par Olympic Games in Los Angeles La officials and organizers drummed up support for the games with the first showing of the Olympic and Par Olympic flags at City Hall mayor Karen Bass pledged the 2028 Olympics would be a games for all the ceremony kicked off with a drum performance by the Jtown Tao club and included a demonstration of wheelchair fencing organizers are confident the Hollywood factor and LA's identity will be a big draw Los Angeles will be hosting the Olympics for a third time the last time the city hosted the Olympics was in 18 1984 it will be the first time the city has hosted the Paro Olympics we're going back to politics Harris to Ramp up Campaign and Target NC, PA we're going to delve into KLA Harris's campaign a little bit further it says that she's ready to take it up a notch following the mate now we'd like to welcome Raj Goyle he's a former Kansas State Representative and a democratic strategist representative Goyle thanks for contributing to our show so what Harris calls a strong debate performance is providing her with a little bit of these favorable Tailwinds as she goes into swing States why would it be North Carolina that she's spending her time she's touting some Republican endorsements look North Carolina's uh been a fascinating state for Democrats of course Obama won it in 2008 couldn't get it in 12 uh we haven't gotten it since but I think KL Harris and Tim Wallace have a very attractive uh option for North Carolina voters North Carolina of course is trending more blue it's got an influx of uh of of professionals around the triangle I'm actually a Duke graduate I used to live down there so I'm really happy that they're campaigning down there and you know one thing I want to point out for your for your audience is that a lot of people on the Trump side might say Hey listen we've seen this movie before we've seen a strong debate from at the time Hillary Clinton but then Donald Trump emerged victorious in November the difference here is that the KLA Harris campaign is Stu with Veterans of the Clinton years the Obama years the Biden years her her team and so I don't think that same mistake from 2016 is going to happen again uh if you recall in 2016 Hillary Clinton wasn't campaigning in the key Battlegrounds in the days and weeks leading up to the election day but K Harris and Tim WS aren't going to make that mistake this time and I think that's why they're goingon to win representative Goyle that's a very in-depth look of this and at her campaign stop in North Carolina yesterday haris cast herself as the Forward Thinking candidate but also as the under underg in this race she's up in a couple National polls by a little bit why would she say that she's the underdog oh she's absolutely the underdog and part of it is that I've been on the ballot three times and you know I've won an election by 20 won an election by 40 and I've lost one by 20 um you know politics is a very fickle business and so one thing it's a truism but it but it's but it's fundamental to politics which is the only poll that matters is election day so even if there is every National poll that says we're up by 20 points we're going to run like we're down 30 points because there's really no difference the only reason a poll matters I know the media likes to obsess over it Beltway pundits like to obsess over it the only reason a poll matters is to guide strategy for the respective campaigns on what they where they spend their money and where they campaign all else is noise so really I as as a person who's been doing this for 30 years I could care less about these polls they're going to go up they're going to go down there's a margin of error what's what's very important is that KLA Harris is still introducing her self to the electorate of America she had a fantastic job at the debate 57 million people watched that debate she presented very well but she's got to continue to hammer the themes of why she'll make your life better for the next four years and I think she's doing just that understood Raj and let's talk about the biggest Battleground Pride Pennsylvania she's going to be in wilsy today what work needs to be done for Harris to convince the pennsylvanians that she's best fit for the presidency she's got to continue doing what she's doing which is to lay out a vision for making an opportunity economy turning the page on the divisiveness of the past remember Joe Biden has great uh Pennsylvania Roots he'll be campaigning hard for there Josh Shapiro's a very popular governor of Pennsylvania he's sumping hard for the Harris walls ticket and so she really just needs to continue to connect with the voters of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania is a very complicated State you know very famously James Carville said it's a Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with Alabama in between and you know frankly that's a lot of the demographic makeup of a lot of states in America so you've got a lot of complexity to Urban turnout and then campaigning in Suburban areas exurban areas rural areas but this Harris walls team knows exactly what they're doing uh the Democratic party has put Pennsylvania in the wind column almost every cycle except of course for 2016 so I'm very confident that we'll emerge victorious in Pennsylvania you talk about turning the page this is really interesting my wrestling coach used to tell me you keep doing what you did you keep getting what you got and President Biden has pretty low approval ratings right now kamla Harris done enough to show that she's different from Biden I mean we talk about support for families we talk about the corporate tax rate the capital gains tax she's either pushing a little bit further into Biden's policies there or taking a turn so can you explain more about this sure well as she turned to Donald Trump at the debate and said you're not running against Joe Biden you're running against me and I think that was a very pivotal moment in the debate and the biggest concern that people had with Joe Biden actually wasn't quite the policies it was his age and he has taken that off the table and so it's actually turned the tables on the key liability that Joe Biden had so uh Joe Biden and the Biden Harris administration's record I think is one that KL Harris can run on and she can say look we've brought inflation down of course inflation was uh brutal for the American people we had a supply chain disruption of massive proportions with covid with a once in a 100y year pandemic but now we need to continue to grow the economy and do it the right way Donald Trump wants to give tax guts to his billionaire buddies he wants to have massive tariffs there will be a huge tax increase the Trump sales tax on the American people on Pennsylvania on wisconsinites and so on KLA Harris wants to cut taxes for people who make $400,000 or less she wants to increase the child tax credit she wants to help families get access to child care and to good uh strong paying jobs to work with labor unions and management alike to make sure that we're growing the economy Donald Trump isn't going to do any of that and representative Goyle we just have one minute left her campaigns playing an event called Republicans for Harris in Phoenix Arizona so why would GOP voters support her oh because she's she's offering uh again a turning of the page from the divisiveness and the rhetoric of the past I mean to think about this you know as I mentioned I've been doing politics 30 years I think my head exploded when I saw that Dick Cheney and Liz Cheney are voting for a progressive Democrat for president uh but that's the realignment that we're in and the fact is that many many Republicans can't stand Donald Trump they work for him they've seen him up close they do not trust him they think he's dangerous and they want to turn the page and they know that the Harris Waltz ticket is a balanced moderate ticket that can grow this economy so that's why you see so many Republicans coming out of the wool saying look we're going to vote for KLA Harris we value your Insight very much Raj Goyle former Kansas state representative and Democratic strategist thanks for coming out hey thanks for having me and next job claims inched up in the first week of September according to Jobless Claims Rose First Week of September yesterday's Department of Labor report for the latest in the business world we turn to Don ma host of entities business matters new jobless claims Rose by 2000 in the week ending September 7th uh that brought the total number of new jobless claims for that week to 230,000 but while a new jobless claims were up the number of continuing claims fell so during the first week of September there were over 43,000 fewer continuing claims compared to the week before the Department of Labor says the data shows that layoffs are not ramping up significantly even as the labor market cools and Shoppers are hungry for savings Kroger is Raising its annual sales forecast its efforts to offer lower prices has drawn in people looking for a deal the grocery joint raised the lower end of its forecast it CEO said that uh cost conscious consumers are stocking up on Essentials at the beginning of the month Kroger is waiting on federal Regulators to re review a mega merger with rival Albertson Kroger says uh that that would lower grocery prices another restaurant chain has been added to the growing list of bankruptcy filings Flor based BurgerFi uh International has filed for chapter 11 the company says that all corporate locations will operate normally during the process that includes it Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza restaurants franchise owned locations are exempt from the filing BurgerFi says it's been hurt by higher wages and food prices including more expensive chicken wings and it looks like customers are loving McDonald's $5 meal so much that the fast food giant is keeping it on the menu until December the $5 meal deal launched in June as a one- Monon gimmick but it quickly turned into a much longer promotion the meal features either a McChicken sandwich or McDouble cheeseburger small fries four piece chicken McNuggets and and a small drink McDonald's has seen a dent in sales as inflation weary customers hold tight to their money stay with us a movie depicting the Korean resistance against Japanese Occupation in the early early 20th century grips audiences at the Toronto Film Festival Hear are more compassionate [Music] [Music] good to have you back one of the gala Historical Korean Thriller Screens at Toronto Film Festival presentations of the Toronto International Film Festival is Harbin a historical drama from Korea it was premiered with red carpets and famous Korean celebrities the film retells the story of Korea's resistance against the Japanese in the early 1900s let's dive into it here at Toronto International Film Festival the excitement continues as film lovers gather to celebrate Global Cinema One film that particularly stood out is Harbin which captured audien's attention with its historical depth and emotional intensity starring renowned actors Lee dong hook and H bin the film Harbin takes the audience to the early 19th century when Harbin became a key location for the Korean resistance against Japan during this time Korean Freedom Fighters were actively resisting Japanese colonial [Music] rule set in the Frozen city of Harbin in Northeast China the film follows a small group of Korean fighters who risk their lives to carry out an assassination plot that might change their nation's future the film's lead actor Lee dong hook spoke about how connecting emotionally with these historical characters was crucial for the audience to truly understand the story I think how long ago the events of the movie took place is not that important I think we had to really convey our emotions to be able to connect with the audience audiences were deeply moved by the film's powerful storyline in historical significance so it was a really incredible um the cinematography was incredible a storytelling the acting and it was about history that I did not know about Korea and Japan Barbara shared that her father lived through the Japanese Occupation in China giving her a deep impression of the horrors of War he tells me stories about the Long March and starvation and seeing people die on the side of the road so yes it's uh it's a very hard war is very hard Harbin presents a gripping story of sacrifice and courage blending powerful performance es and stunning visuals to bring this key moment in Korean history to life harbon is a very um informative educational entertaining and really emotional but also intellectual at the same time films like Harbin its historical Legacy continues to resonate with audiences worldwide reminding us of the courage and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom NTD Toronto Canada I'm intrigued I I have to also admit I don't know much about the history in the early 20 Century in Korea and Japan but the more reason to watch it right yeah well I mean it really has a gripping storyline how those Freedom Fighters went to Harbin in China and how they were creating a plot to assassinate the Japanese leader right and well yeah it's a it's it's being described as a soldier that goes onto a suicidal Mission so yeah definitely very probably worth watching yeah well and a lot of these people that go to the actual Tiff Film Festival they say that they were influenced by K-pop and Korean culture and everything so it kind of makes sense yeah makes sense all right and have you ever experimented in the Milan Ice Cream Parlour Uses AI to Make New Flavours kitchen by combining different ingredients to make something completely new now ai is doing just that an ice cream shop in Milan Italy is using chat GPT to create new combinations of flavors take a look Make Way vanilla strawberry and Tutti Frutti AI is coming for Italian ice cream Jean Franco [ __ ] is the owner of Tera an ice cream parlor in central Milan he was brainstorming with a colleag when the idea of enlisting help from chat GPT was born last year a culinary award ceremony asked the team at Tera to present a new flavor MIM Gro our ice maker told me why don't we try to use technology to make a new flavor the first AI generated ice cream was AI Tera white chocolate Berry sauce balsamic vinegar and caramelized black pepper sample says it's been a hit with customers obviously this set of slightly particular tastes is very intriguing I must honestly say that neither mimo nor I would have thought of caramelized black pepper for example the frontiers of creativity have broaden traditionally the secrets of Italian ice cream have been handed down over Generations between Artisans using chat jbt in the process is a step in a different direction but this customer says it still passes the taste test I must say that the difference with normal ice cream is almost invisible sample says Artisans still play a crucial role in the process and points out it's human knowhow that creates the finished product tera's ice cream maker massim Gro agrees he says Chad jpt isn't yet able to balance a recipe and can only suggest the idea of a pairing of ingredients just it actually sounds incredibly delicious car caram car caramelized can I say this word car yeah black pepper and balsamic vinegar it's unusual but I have to say well of course with white chocolate and berries not by itself but it sounds delicious I'll keep my balsamic vinegar in my salad thank you very much really oh I've actually tried it before with vanilla ice cream and just you know if anybody you ever want to try yeah pushing the Frontiers No Doubt well you know and there's one thing about this though AI can't taste so you really got to be careful with this recommendation you got to taste test it first the human touch is really important quality control all right and 13-Year-Old Starts Mowing Lawns, Now Owns $1M Business we're moving on to a 13-year-old Pennsylvania entrepreneur who worked hard building a lawn mowing business into what's now a million doll Pere Diversified set of business ventures he did it all without going to college he shared some advice for future entrepreneurs let's sh a story Chase Gallagher's success story started with a dream he had as a 12-year-old boy in Pennsylvania I was doing chores for my parents at the time and um I was running out of opportunity so I I tried to get a job I was 12 years old at the time and in my state here in Pennsylvania you had to be 14 so what I did was I created a flyer and passed out flyers amongst my neighborhood for the one service I knew how to do which was Mo Lawns with help from his older brother the business started to grow he passed out thousands of flyers and within a year he added many clients to his lawnmowing service it was very very uh frightening for me to do this I remember the first couple years of my business from till I was like 15 even until I was 16 honestly every client interaction I had so much anxiety every time someone called my phone I I wouldn't answer it because I had so much anxiety um because I was just so fearful at the time when you're starting a business this is actually a very common feeling for for new business owners they're fearful Chase had to overcome severe physical challenges with the help of a special gift from his father I had a kidy transplant at the age of 20 when I was I was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease back in second grade long story short that disease ran its track on my original two kidneys and so at the age of 20 I had a kidney transplant and you know thank you to my father and the Lord my father donated his kidney to me although his family pressured him to attend college Chase decided to skip it not going to college has been one of my best decisions in business and at the time I was 17 18 years old making 70 80 100 Grand a year in my landscaping business yes I was working very hard I didn't see the ROI in going to college and that's when I said hey I'm going to do my business full-time and I went all in on it Chase mentors other future entrepreneurs on social media you got to bet on yourself you should be every day trying to be the best you can whether you're mopping floors or building someone's landscape or investing in real estate and a lot of times it takes learning lessons and lessons and lessons and lessons and so that's that's a huge part of whatever career you're doing Chase took a risk and sold off his lawnmowing business in favor of doing more lucrative Landscaping projects it has paid off for him we'll do over 1.5 million in Revenue this year and I got a total of 10 team members including myself Chase explains what he attributes his successes to where my drive and my energy and my Visions come from is truly from God he is what makes everything happen at least with myself and so um it's all God's plan Chase now owns and renovates property his future plans include helping other businesses invest with his private Equity plan and says he's saving up to buy a jet incredible such strong work ethics entrepreneurial Spirit at such a young age you know when he has to do it anyway and he has those skills to mow Lawns why not make money with it yeah such a great American story and you know if he can do it others can do it too absolutely let this be a lesson an inspiration um and if you're in New York's meat packing NY Elephant Display Promotes Living in Harmony with Nature District look around and see if you can spot some
