[Music] from the moment I knew this was being made I've been looking forward to it Superman 1978 is The Benchmark it's my favorite superhero film of all time and the main reason for that is Christopher reev his performance as the man of steel was second to none and as we all know as things turned out it soon became apparent that all those things that Superman stood for all those Noble qualities Christopher reev had in abundance also I can remember how upset I was on the day that he was finally taken from this world and I still have I found them just the other day in fact I still have I bought every newspaper that day that I had like the cover Story the news about his passing and he was just an amazing amazing man and a complete another inspiration I can feel myself getting emotional about this one already so um just realized I haven't even said what we're watching clearly you've read the title anyway but there is a new documentary Superman the Christopher reev Story is going to chart his story from unknown actor to Superstar to following his accident in 1995 I think it was to his activism in trying to find a cure for these sorts of spinal injuries like I said such an inspiration I'm talking too much before we even get to watch the trailer so let's just do that let's jump straight in um hoping I don't get too emotional with this one let's do it John Williams already everybody's looking for a [Music] hero I am not not a hero that was a part I played the part I'm not that man let go be W man hands down he was Superman from day one I realized that if I could pull off this part it would change my life John hman said Mr reev it is very important you become a serious classical actor unless of course they offer you a load of money to do something else he convinced me when I first met him that he would fly doing things to my dad it was all about activity and action riding bikes playing soccer [Music] skiing carp my dad was very competitive and he didn't necessarily slow down we said goodbye and he gave this wave that was the last time I saw him on his [Music] feet Mr grieve currently has no movement or spontaneous respiration Superman crazy just that simple little thing over the horse i' ruined my life and everybody else's I won't be able to ski sail throw a ball to will won't be able to make love to Dana maybe we should let me go she came flying in and she just yelled I love you I love you and then she said the words save my life you're still you and I love you he and Robin were such good friends because they could match each other Robin also had struggles that he dealt with his whole life and I think that they both were aware of Darkness brother Chris is fighting like crazy when you find people who fight like that but still keep their Humanity that gives you great hope that is tough because I can feel him but he can't feel me it must have been hell for my mom too knowing but she had lost I felt I needed to do something not just for myself but for everyone else in the same condition see the fact that Superman was in a wheelchair and was willing to go public with it was huge help is on the [Applause] way Christopher and Dan paralysis ACT people are literally walking because of him what is a hero my answer was that a hero is someone who commits a courageous action without considering the consequences now my definition is completely different I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles I wouldn't have missed this for the [Music] world that's completely done me wer it oh well I was expecting something to that end I was expecting it to be quite emotional but I didn't expect it to hit me like that what a powerful trailer and just uh I forgot about his friendship with Robin Williams they just po back in there again what an amazing and somebody else gone too soon but just what an incredible trailer and I think what a beautiful and inspiring film this is going to be that music playing throughout that new orchestration of the Superman theme that played throughout and just hit all those moments just as we're listening to his family talk and then just seeing the windows there with his wife and the love between them all it's uh that's hit me for six wow I think it's I don't even know about a UK release whether it's getting a UK release in the states I think it was just showing on two days um um I think it's September the 23rd and the 25th I think it's showing on Cinema screens and then I think it's a HBO thing so it might be that we'll get it on streaming over here I wonder I hope I get to see it on a cinema screen that's man what an incredible person just what an incredible he is a hero he said at the very very beginning it's just that you know Superman was a hero he plays hero he's not a hero look at that he is a hero look what he's achieved look what he did weren't ready for that today wow uh can't wait to see it I think we're I guess we're a month away a month away What a Beautiful trailer there absolutely Heart full right now H going to stop this uh you're going to rip me apart in the
