if you're watching anywhere else take one second come over to YouTube click subscribe let's get to 12,000 together it would be a much better experience for all of us superstitiously to have 12,000 subscribers before week one so let's get it done uh and yeah got a bunch of really good stuff to cover today I'm very excited I couldn't wait honestly till 8 a.m. to do it and uh I'd be crazy if I didn't start by first thinking uh ftn fantasy ftn fantasy.com brings you these episodes if you haven't headed gone over to uh ftn fantasy use promo code code Hawks get 8% sorry not 8% 15% let's double it 15% off your subscription and you're going to want to get the uh fantasy Plus subscription because that comes with stats Hub all the dvoa data plus the Discord areas where you can go and ask people questions about fantasy you can ask them about bets that you're thinking about making or just getting data from this amazing source of of data that I look at pretty much every single day multiple times a day less than eight bucks a month it's well worth it so ftn fantasy.com folks we have had a fun week so far at least I have uh you know I we got it kicked off Monday um obviously that is Labor Day and couldn't do all of our normal things that we would have normally done on a Monday but Tuesday did get to announce on Monday the paiai sponsorship which is amazing which has made it possible for us to bring Robert maon uh for a weekly guest on this show through the season it's going to be amazing I I think Robert's fantastic I've heard a lot of great feedback from folks already he's going to bring a really really unique perspective and one of the things I had done as we were kind of figuring out uh which guest to bring on was ask everybody who you know I I gave some options of who might be a good guest to bring on and there were two that for me stood out from the pack and Robert was one of them and and Robert's a little bit less known for people in this area he's nationally much more known but but I'm really excited piai signed up to bring him on he's a guy that you know is not easy to get so that was a huge huge addition to the show and I can't wait to be talking to him we've got Ray Roberts who's gonna be coming on every other Wednesday to do big Rays rewind so next Wednesday hopefully that'll work out we'll bring Ray back again and today today folks Thursday September 5th I get to tell you that tomorrow we debut another weekly guest this is someone who's going to be with us this is someone who should be more familiar for a lot of Seahawks fans in fact this is a person who kind of inspired my blogging in a lot of ways and he and I worked a little bit together when he started one of the first Seahawks blogs for a newspaper down there in Tacoma News Tribune his name is Mike Sando and he's been on the show before he is one of he is literally the person who left the first comment on my blog when I launched Hawk blogger back in 2007 he obviously works for the athletic now and has been a just fantastic uh reporter and I think just a a role model for anyone who wants to do the job the right way and so he's still I think down there in Tacoma and Mike and I are super excited to be able to do this we've laughed about the fact this is come in Full Circle and he's excited about it I'm excited about it we've talked about the fact that I think a lot of folks really lik the Dave bowling interview that I did uh I think that was just last week with so so many shows I lose track of when they were but um Dave bowling and Mike are really close and we'll I think I've talked to both of them we'll try to do few shows during the year we'll see how it goes where we bring both of them on for a little old school to come a new Tribune round table and um learn a lot from them and and their interaction so I I think we're all going to get smarter better uh have a ton of fun bringing those guys on and so now you're talking about I think a pretty Monster lineup here I mean uh Robert Mays every Monday Ray Roberts every other Wednesday Mike Sando every Friday and you don't get these kinds of folks on a regular basis on shows like this so I couldn't do this without the sponsors I couldn't do this without you all as uh listeners subscribers um you know just Watchers likers all those things so really really appreciate it and want to make sure you know folks know I want to invest back into the show I want to make sure that I this is I ideally going to be the best place for you to get your Seahawks coverage at least it's going to be the place that you can't miss you know I I get my Seahawks content from all over the place obviously I don't just I don't listen to my own show but I I listen to a bunch of places and there's certain places shows podcasts interviews that are must listens for me every single week I'm hoping to make more of those kinds of situations and episodes on this show and uh you guys are just a huge huge part of it so thank you all for all that you've done and I could tell from chat everybody's pretty excited uh about that so um yeah yeah I'm I'm super stoked it's going to be super fun and I can't wait till Sunday guys uh let's let's let's get that let's get that here as soon as possible um so uh that's the big news congrats to everybody on that and then we'll have that show tomorrow so I'll work it out Mike is actually right now in Kansas City covering the season opener today guys the like the the the NFL starts today 2024 season we've got the Chiefs playing tonight that'll be one to watch for sure that'll be fun we got another game tomorrow night and so uh it's really just it's here in that sense the Seahawks aren't quite here but but the NFL is here so that'll be fun but Mike's in Kansas City so tomorrow I'll have to figure out exactly when the show will be I'll let you know and I'll post it so um just keep an eye on the channel and that will show up uh and then uh Saturday we're g to do Seahawks Saturday with Jeff Simmons he is going to be in Seattle so uh I see someone just coming in now saying did I miss the big announcement the big announcement is Mike Sando will be a weekly guest on Fridays so that is the announce in case you just came in um seak Saturday Jess's going to be in Seattle so I'm going to try and figure out if we can do this live somewhere I want to find a breakfast place potentially that'll host us I'm having a conversation with a couple restaurants see if it's like short notice so it's it's kind of a stretch but it would be fun and if we could get if we could get some in real life opportunity there it might be fun if people are interested in coming down wherever we're going to be um you know I'm talking to jimmies on first I'm talking to maybe 13 Coins I want somewhere down town Jeff staying down there and want to make it easy for him to be able to get there so uh if people are in and around the city maybe there'll be a chance for us to do a live show with you know an audience with folks who want to chat and say hello so that would be great that's a good idea Matt about Legion uh over here in bellw that's a it' be cool to do although I think again I'm trying to not make Jeff have to come across the water um so we'll see I don't know it's not it's a good idea for sure but I don't know if uh I'll be able to get Jeff you know from Seattle to bellw and back um Saturday morning um so keep an eye out for that and then Sunday as I've told you we're going to do like a fun pregame show like Evan Jeff and I are going to be waiting to get to a bar we'll be on a Seattle Street somewhere most likely and we will do a pregame show for you that'll be Hawk blogger mornings Sunday as I will be figuring out how to do uh Hawk blogger mornings on Sundays during the season that's to be honest it's a question I've had in my head and I'm like I don't know we're g to figure this out so uh stick around and uh check that out so yeah a lot of great content coming up the next few days Mike Sando tomorrow Jeff Simmons seak Saturday and then the pregame show Sunday we also will likely do a post game show as we always do and that's always entertaining so um keep an eye out on that uh got a comment here from Old School Seahawk who's I don't believe you only been a member for a month that doesn't seem right but uh it says what an amazing month thank you hawk blogger and the L I think that's the Legion of bloggers I'm not sure what you guys call yourselves on that front love what is being built here lfg Seahawk hell yeah man appreciate you old school absolutely uh Jen ma says we should do interview with fans during the morning show that would be fun yeah maybe we'll do that on Sunday depending on if people are hanging out there with us uh on the street um all right so let's let's start talking a little bit about what is Seahawks news and pieces that I wanted to make sure we we cover in in today's episode so yesterday yesterday you know we clicked into kind of the game week it's a little bit odd with Labor Day you know usually there's a Monday Wednesday you know Thursday Friday kind of Rhythm to the schedule without the Monday things got a little bit awkward or a little bit different but yesterday we were in the auditorium talking to Mike McDonald talking to DK uh oh I sorry I missed uh it looks like I missed a Super Chat sorry let me do that real quick um yes I did miss a super chat this from 67 plush thank you for that good morning Brian random observation based on how he reacted DK looks like he's all good with you based on his media response quest to 12K yeah I don't think DK thinks twice about me I think I I wanted to make sure that was not a story quickly it's not about me I don't ever want to be Mr Brian uh the way you know Joe used to be Mr Joe to to Jamal and and for DK I mean he just I I I highly doubt he thinks twice or even once about me or any other media member I don't think doing media stuff's his favorite thing um I know he knows he's got to grow in that area and so I don't have any issue with DK and you know yeah it was fine we're actually going to play some DK sound here in a little bit answer to some of these questions but yeah I'll good there and uh appreciate appreciate that um so anyway we we talked to Mike McDonald we talked to DK meaf we talked to Tyrell Dodson I've got some sound from Mike Mack and from DK that I wanted to play and share some reactions to and then um also I wanted to kind of juxtapose some of the Mike Mac sound to some sound from Shawn pton because obviously they're doing their pressers as well and there's an advantage I think that the Seahawks may have that that hasn't been discussed enough and so I want to get into that in a little bit um but let's go ahead and start listening to some of this sound the first one uh is just a you know General challenge that that Mike McDonald was talking about uh with week one um it's just a it is a tough situ situation for really for all teams and so it was interesting to hear Mike Mack kind of talk about his initial read on why uh week one is a challenge they are and what they want to be and what type of you know the plays that kind of what started again yeah for beginning of season is tough because you know uh everyone has an idea about who they are and what they want to be and what type of you know the plays that kind of what they want to hang their hat on uh schematically the Personnel how they want to utilize their personnel so you don't have that sample size you know at this time of year so um you really just have to focus on executing your stuff uh the best you possibly can and make them you know beat you throwing your fast ball so um that's been the message to guys you know we're going to be running our stuff we're going to be running our stuff from now until whenever but um yeah it's just it's hard to kind of pick and choose and tailor it to how they've operated because the sample is just not there so good stuff from Mike there about just the fact that you know trying to really be super on prep for another team is challenging because you just have a small sample you don't know exactly what it's going to be I'm going to play some sound that kind of goes flies in the face of that a little bit and in a few seconds but that's real what I like about that sound from my McDonald was this is one of his Mike McDonald ISM has started to emerge which is throwing in your fastball he's talked about that with pass rushers you talked about Derek Hall his fast ball is his speed his speed to power game his power game in general and then you want to work on change UPS off of that fast ball and he talked about it here of like we're g to play to our strengths we're going to play what we know we're going to do our stuff and there's another sound I'm not going to play in this episode but he talks about that you know it takes a little while to just find your fast ball you know you might think you know it at the beginning but you want to try to look for it and then once you got your fast ball it's actually healthy for teams to have Tendencies teams without Tendencies are kind of just throwing things against the wall that's not going to be a good team so you do want to have Tendencies but it's around midseason where you then start to need to actually work on change UPS off of your fastball change UPS you know off of those Tendencies to keep people off of your fastball so people that know baseball this all makes sense but you know it's all about keeping people off balance and and having an idea but with the week one piece they have an idea of what they want to do and what they want to do well and it's not as much about in his mind what Denver does or how they will will come um the next thing I wanted to play was a question I asked him about a perception that's out there I mean if you haven't heard this perception I don't know where what rock you've been under as a Seahawks fan because everybody throws this out there everybody says well it took Mike McDonald about half a season to get his defense going in Baltimore well they needed to get the ran Smith trade and then things took off well the Seahawks have new schemes on both sides of the ball it's could take him a while to get things going so I asked Mike McDonald well you know there's a bit of a slow start in Baltimore maybe took a while for your team to adapt to your scheme do you think that the Seahawks defense is in the same place listen to his answer um you know I wouldn't say it's a fair assessment to say it took time for them to adapt I think we're all learning um there's definitely things that I took from that experience of our slow start um that we've we've been we've changed and evolved you know the end of through the end of 2022 uh through the offseason mean it's been a long time through the offseason of 23 um and then into this offseason so I would I would consider it a constant you know um evolution of how we approach it how we teach it expectations what we call uh lot of lot of great Lessons Learned in that situ hopefully we've learned from them you know and and and the guys go out and play great but um things are going to happen that we're going to need to fix whether or not that's you know reared in their heads again from you know past mistakes but don't expect that I think the guys in a great spot this was kind of an ideal answer for me and I intentionally left it open and a little bit provocative for him and I wouldn't say took the bait because it wasn't I wasn't trying to bait him but I was interested to see what part of my question he'd respond to and the fact that he did not agree with the the framing that the team took a while to adapt to his defense was interesting and what that really implied was he feels like he's learned a lot as a coordinator the the the plays that he called how to utilize his players what to do at what time how to teach it I don't know if you heard that part but how to teach the defense changed for him so he also just talked about that he's had a full season of those learnings in that first year he had that offseason then he had another full season of learning he's had this offseason and he's just a different coach than he was then and he teaches the defense differently and he calls differently and I think that bodess really well part for a number of reasons one part of what everyone's saying about this team might take a while to get going is based on this notion of what happened with Baltimore and if Mike McDonald is telling you that that's not really relevant that that's not really a good sample to use because he was a different coach then and he he taught it and he he called it differently that's actually like a million times more relevant than every you know armchair quarterback analyst out there telling you that it's going to take a while and I don't think Mike McDonald is not one of he's not Pete Carrol for a lot of different reasons but he's not a guy that's just blowing smoke that was a honest assessment of the fact that this is different and this team's in a different place and he said I like where we are and this is a guy that has been very clear when he's not been happy where they are now I don't think he'd be going into this game and into the season saying I don't like where we are like I don't think he's going to be that honest but I've seen the progression of how he talks about his defense I've seen when he's been frustrated I've seen when he's then felt like he's seen progress I think he's in the more cautiously optimistic mode of Mike McDonald than he is the you know trying to spin anything mode so I I really I thought that was important to hear and uh pretty valuable insight into how Mike's approaching it and the fact that if you look at that Baltimore defense and that first first half that everybody cites McDonald doesn't think that was about installation or you know the scheme itself he just he he he sees that there's a lot of things he would have done differently and it's not necessarily A ran Smith specific thing that everybody assumes it is the other thing that I brought out brought up when I was talking to Robert Mays on Tuesday was keep in mind that Baltimore defense in the first eight games was 21st in the NFL in paa per play uh the Seahawks would take that relative to what they put on the field the last couple years so if the floor of this defense is 21st for a few games that is not the worst thing in the world so uh just wanted to kind of bring that up that I thought that was a good stuff from um from Shawn Payton or sorry not Shawn pyton from Mike McDonald I'm gonna I'm staring at some Shawn pyton sound here in a second we'll talk about um we've got a super chat here from detail oriented hey Bobby hope you're doing all right man says Brian I don't think it's McDonald or grub scheme that's going to be the story or the difference Hawks are going to excel this year because they're being taught well and will be prepared I think you're spot on Bobby yeah I think you really are and I think it's also play calling I think play calling is another aspect this is something I've been kind of poking at with grub and with McDonald that it's it's not just as simple as hey the Mike McDonald schemes around the NFL the Mike McDonald play caller is only in Seattle his how much has everybody talked about how smart this guy is that's not just in designing the plays it is in knowing how and when to call them it's like I can give you a rocket ship but if you don't know how to fly that thing good luck so you can just press some buttons but it doesn't mean it's going to go well and in fact it'll probably blow up on on you know so let's let's uh let's celebrate the fact that Mike McDonald is here all right so I want to switch gears a little bit and and I asked I asked Mike McDonald what the Hallmark of a sea Payton offense is and that was this is where we start getting into what I think might be an advantage for Mike McDonald that we that haven't talked about for this game so let me let me play the the McDonald sound here for you what are the Hallmarks of a Shawn Payton offense uh you're going to get he's going to play everybody um they do a great job of playing all their guys a lot of different Personnel groups um run and pass for complimentary drop back game I think um is consistent for the quarterback but you know they can they can create explosives that way too and then um they you know they get the ball to their Playmakers so um it's a tried and true system they've they've done it really well well for a long time you all right I'm going to immediately go to playing to playing some Shawn Payton sound from yesterday asked about the Mike McDonald defense all right we're going to just toose these two answers they give you they give you a lot of looks you know they'll play they'll play their odd front and and they'll move that around um you know they did they've done a great job I think in his last two years years he's second in the league and you know takeaways so they're an opportunistic aggressive defense um you know the challenge this week is you you've got the Ravens element when we're looking at defensive film and yet looking at the Seattle personnel and so um you're kind of going back and forth from a cutup standpoint um and it's not unusual when you have a new staff and then defensively you know you have a new offensive coordinator who's coming from college um so you you're paying attention to the preseason of course but but then also um maybe Trends and things that that they've done prior obviously with Mike you know it's there's a lot of Baltimore in the cut-ups uh that we're studying and and yet you know how much how much makes it in year one into Seattle's package um you know only they would know that not us but um but they do a good job with disguise um they hold their disguise as well uh and uh yeah I mean they they create create some challenges you all right so that was Shawn Payton did you all hear what I heard between those two on one side you've got Mike McDonald talking about in fact there was another clip I didn't pull out but talking about Sean Payton 20 years of coaching and tried and true Mike McDonald knows exactly what Shawn Payton's going to try to do Sunday like he has he knows exactly what he's going to try to do he talked about knowing what he would likely do to help a a rookie quarterback and then it's not necessarily the Run game but it like he talked about this Mike McDonald talked about well I don't know about run percentage pass percentage but there's going to be things you can do to help a rookie quarterback those are going to be things like quick game they're going to be easier throws they're going to be rolling them out like whatever he he knows what to expect from Shawn pyton and similarly you have a pretty good idea what to expect from Vance Joseph their defensive coordinator because he was there last year Vance Joseph has been in the league for many years he's a blitz Centric defensive coordinator you kind of know what you're going to get and the the personnel has not changed that much in that regard to where it's going to change the scheme or change the play calls so you've got a guy in Mike McDonald who everybody says is brilliant smart one of the best defensive Minds if not the best defensive mind in the game who has a bead on what he's going to be going up against doesn't say it's bad but he knows what he's going up against that's a pretty big deal for week one because as Mike McDonald said in the first clip I played you really just don't have a big sample size otherwise to know what to expect well I think they do I think the Seattle does on the other side you've got Shawn Peyton like bumbling through an answer of well we're looking at Baltimore we're looking at the Seattle Personnel we don't know how much of the Baltimore schemes going to get installed in the first year with with Seattle then you oh by the way you've also got a new offensive coordinator over there from college and we're trying to watch preseason but you know we just you know they disguise things well he's kind of all over the place there and the basic like uh sum of that answer was we don't know like we don't know what Sunday's going to look like on either side of the ball they have some ideas but they don't know they certainly don't know to the same extent that Mike McDonald knows about what he's going to face on Sunday and really what Ryan grub is going to face on Sunday so I think that's you know we can debate how big of an advantage it is I don't think we can debate whether it is an advantage it is like it just is it's an advantage to know with some certainty what you're going to be facing and you know Shawn Payton and Broncos fans might counter with well we know you you guys know what you're facing because it's proven to work we've got coaches who know what they're doing have done it for years they're the second year in the system at at least with this team and this roster you know they'll be better uh equipped to execute that's a fine retort that that could be what you say is an advantage for the Broncos the Seahawks will be playing their first game in these new schemes maybe there'll be more mistakes I don't I don't just I just don't uh I don't see that being nearly as big of an advantage of as kind of knowing what to prep for you've got a rookie quarterback getting his first start ever on the road and the person calling the plays for that quarterback doesn't even know with any confidence what he's going to face that's an advantage that's a really meaningful I think advantage in this game so wanted to hammer on that a little bit curious what you all think about that um if you haven't already given the show a like and click subscribe now would be a wonderful time to do it head on over to ftn fantasy.com use promo code Hawks get 15% off less than eight bucks a month to get you the fantasy Plus subscription which comes with stats Hub access to the Discord channels where you can ask fantasy questions where you can ask uh betting questions I think I saw some like huge Edge bet for Isaiah Pacho going over 75 yards rushing tonight I think they had like a 20% plus Edge uh on ftn for that really really great I am a subscriber and again as I've said this data would cost you5 $6,000 a year if you were on something like um you know sis Solutions even PFF which I also subscribe to is more expensive like getting this for less than eight bucks a month is a huge steal so ftn fantasy.com promo code Hawks all right so that was kind of the the advantage that I'm seeing there um the other pieces that I wanted to play for you is some DK medcap sound and the first thing that I wanted to play for you here was around something that I've noticed with DK which is that I want to almost do a cutup of this but if you watch his reaction to jsn scoring the winning touchdown against Cleveland with DK as the primary Blocker on the screen if you watch DK metcash reaction I think it was maybe two years ago into Detroit when Tyler Lockett caught a touchdown with DK meaps on the bottom of the screen he's like just losing his mind like super celebratory just super excited when you see him score a touchdown DK meaf just hands the ball to the ref and walks to the sideline he is not a me guy and I think that this is an important thing to understand understand about DK meaf because there's some I think narrative and reputation that this is a selfish player in some way um that this this fighting that these penalties that he's had is a selfish move and I understand that argument I I've even made that argument at times but I think that this is a evidence to me that I always throw out there as evidence to the contrary that DK meaf is not a me player on the field at least at least by my estimation and so I asked him like what what's the The Pride how how much pride do you take in creating opportunities for other players on your team and here is his answer um yeah I mean it just comes down to just trying to win the game and doing whatever it takes to you know win and um you know just helping the team uh you know just with my abilities whether that's blocking or catching the ball or being a decoy on the backside um you know just trying to you know put the ball in the end zone and score as many points is I mean [ __ ] I keep saying that uh scor more points than the other team I need to pick a different word but but we trying to win at the end of the day and you know doing whatever it takes to win there's some I think he was looking at Jen Mueller when he said that I think there's there's a phrase that he he uses too often and he's trying to figure out a different phrase uh I mean this guy I I see a guy trying to grow this year I really do I see I you know even little things I don't know if I'm reading too much into this but he's got the tight fade going on right now no colors very understated to to I could use the trend right now very demure um but like he's just he's trying he's not being afraid to say he wants to be a leader uh I put a quote out there on Twitter last night his his answer to that I thought was fantastic and I just see a guy who's who's growing or trying to grow uh and maybe grow up a little bit and who could blame a guy that looks like DK mataf that plays like DK mataf that gets the hype that he did coming in having a lot of fun you know in the early part of his career and then now maybe he's he's reached a point where he wants it to be more than just fun and I might be reading into this but I'm I'm interested this is a story I'm kind of tracking through this I think it was very notable that even when he swung the helmet in that practice which was not good that he was the one that spoke to the team afterwards I don't know the DK mcka of the last few years was the guy that would have done that and so you know we'll see and and for people that talk about Pete Carroll as just the ultimate player Whisperer which he he has been Mike McDonald might be creating an environment that is allowing DK to step forward in this way and and I think that that's something to to you know celebrate or at least follow along with all right this this next clip from DK um this is actually was an interesting question about whether this offense was going to be run first and like what what's the identity of this offense and pretty good answer here from DK I think it was pretty interesting to hear and uh I've been talking about this for a while so it was not a huge surprise to me but there's some funny insights here he kind of you know nipped that in the bud but he kind of you know nipped that in the bud the first uh offensive meeting that we had with all right guys I know we've had exposive plays but you know we're going to run the ball so I kind of got mad real quick but um you know I think the foundation of uh running the ball first is uh going to open up everything else for me Jax lock Noah everybody else in the uh in the receiver room and the tight end room was that really the first thing you said to you guys yeah yeah well he was happy to be here then he said we're going so that was DK talking about Ryan grubs first thing he said to the offense was I I know that that you know about our explosive plays in Washington but we're going to run the ball here and I've been telling I mean anyone that's been listening to this show knows that this is something I've been talking about for a while everybody's talked about Ryan grub throws the ball down the field very vertical very explosive he tosses the ball everywhere I don't know if that's going to work in the pros if you've listened to what Mike McDonald and Ryan grub have said every single time they want to be physical they want to run the ball they talk about it every time people like it goes in one ear and out the other but that is what they want to hang their hats on and they look at Ken Walker and are drooling about what he can do this is why Ryan grub said if it takes me hiring 10 offensive line coaches I've committed to John Schneider we're going to get that run game working they are going you know whether it works or not they're going to want to really get the running game untracked and I can hear Ben Baldwin now on Twitter just like Nathan ER like freaking out and we'll hear all these criticisms I don't care you know I I absolutely believe and I don't care if analytics disagree I'm okay to be a leite here an offense that can run the ball effectively is so much more d dangerous than an offense that can't and that should just be obvious to me it doesn't mean that it's more important than the passing game I don't think that that's the case but I think the if you look at some of the most explosive games for offenses it almost always involves 200 plus yards rushing and that's not because they were farther ahead that's because they were effective in running the ball and then the pass is part of it I think if you can get 150 yards rushing and 300 yards passing you are I think in a really good place and the Seahawks weren't a team that did that often enough last year in fact I want to go back and look at how many times do you think the Seahawks rushed for over 150 yards last year off the top of your head how many times did the Seahawks in 2023 run for 150 yards or more last year going once going twice what if I told you it was Zero times the Seahawks rushed for over 150 yards zero times last year their highest rushing output was 146 yards against the Carolina Panthers in week three they did not rush for more than 121 yards the rest of the year until the final game of the season against Arizona they rushed for 138 yards this was not this was not a good rushing team last year and I think this was one of the biggest uh results or effects side effects of the offensive line injury situation and and the things going on there this team is going to be a team that I don't be surprised if it's week one this year if it's Sunday that they rush for over 150 yards so I mean there's a lot of things I think it's offensive line last year I think it was play calling last year I've been most critical Shane Waldren had the sixth ranked dvoa pass offense in the NFL last year the pass offense was Rel like pretty darn effective the Run game was not especially third and short was just absolutely unforgivable how Shane Waldren passed so often on Third and less than three yards um um uh sorry I see a super chat from Dil I was trying to read it when while I was um before I put it up there it says Brian look at chat after show I know you downplay your questions some and think you can improve which is a good thing but I have to say you're doing great it's refreshing keep up the great work I appreciate that um look at chat after the show I I don't know what what I'm supposed to be looking at but let me let me know I will I will take a look um appreciate it I try to do CH and also just pay attention to talking but it's a little harder than than you know it might look at least for me so I I do think that that's a big deal I think it was also interesting DK showing a little bit there that he was annoyed annoyed at first when grub said that it's going to be run Centric and look I don't think this means that they are going to be a 5050 run pass team or a 6040 run pass team I think they're still going to pass the ball all over the place I do think that the Run game is going to be persistent and one thing I will say about grub my only maybe my only criticism of Grub's offense in Washington is there were times that he got stubborn with the run and I felt like he got away from their strength and that's just like nobody's perfect but like there were times I felt felt like he was a little too focused on trying to get the Run game going and was not taking advantage of their their passing game little bit different Personnel here but you could say that in positive or negative offensive line running backs kind of up and down depending on how you look at it so uh I thought that was interesting sound from DK and uh let's get one more sound here from DK meta this was I asked him about the fact that Ryan Grub's moving him around and what are the challenges and opportunities that that presents and here's what DK said the only challenges I got to learn more plays more positions um the advantage is defenses have to you know stop me on the inside and Jackson lock on the outside or vice versa so um I think just uh brings in another element that the defense has to you know stop on our offense so here's my here's my read of that answer and I'm still learning DK in terms of his intonation and his body language and facial expression on different questions and answers I'm like I super focused on all those things I I don't have to like pay attention to it it's just very natural to me that I'm like reading a person as they're answering and my read is he didn't like having to learn that stuff I think he's like man this is a lot of moral work for me but I think he also recognizes what it could mean for him what it could mean for the team and so now that he's over the hump of having that work to learn all those things I think he's going to reap the rewards of it and we're going to start seeing that Sunday because look the the Broncos is almost certainly going to try to have Patrick certan lined up against DK as much as possible what's that going to look like if DK is lined up in the back field how are the Broncos going to handle that what is it look like if DK's in the slot what does that mean for Riley Moss where does he go who ends up being isolated on jquan McMillian like there's a lot of things here that are going to force the defense to have answers to questions that people haven't had to answer before from the Seahawks they haven't had to like DK meaf was parked in one place at X he would run routes from that route tree and you knew that not so much anymore I think that's going to be big difference I think I going to keep coming back to lishka Chanel I think he's going to be a big difference maker in this and something to keep an eye on so I I really I'm looking forward to all of that I'm looking forward to the motion I'm looking forward to the movement I'm looking forward to the quick passes I think you know it could be a very exciting offense to watch and I can't wait to see it so we got a super chat from smoka says Brian how many 150 rushing games did we have in the second half of the 22 season I bet it was very low as well I will tell you really quickly um in 2022 there were two rushing games of over 150 yards the last two games of the Season were 198 yards against the Jets and 197 against the Rams so there was a number of games in 2022 where they did cross the 150 yard Mark all right folks I'm going to leave it there please give the show a like click subscribe I will see you all tomorrow with the show from Mike Sando appearing on hot Walker mornings it will be fun I can't wait to see you all then until then uh oh by the way I will not be at the seaha facility today I got something I cannot move so I will miss being able to ask questions which I'm bummed about but Gino Smith will be talking Ryan grub will be talking Aden dirty I am so bummed this was the day I really wanted to be there but can't do it so I will be back at you tomorrow and we will do more then so take care y'all appreciate you this
