OFFICER BURKS WAS EXECUTED. >> WILL BEGAN AS A ROUTINE THURSDAY NIGHT FOR GAS POLICE OFFICER DARREN BIRDS QUICKLY TURNED DEADLY WHEN 30 YEAR-OLD CORY COBB, A APPROACHED HIM AS HE SAT IN HIS SQUAD CAR COBB A STROKE OF THE BRIEF CONVERSATION WHICH RECORDED ON THE SOUTH WILL THEN INEXPLICABLY PULLED OUT A HANDGUN AND OPENED FIRE KILLING BERKS WHERE HE SET. >> THE DISPATCHER ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT OFFICER BURKS WHO DID NOT RESPOND. THE DISPATCHER LOCATED OFFICER BERKS VA HIS GPS LOCATION AND SENT OFFICERS TO CHECK ON HIM. >> DIDN'T STOP THERE. HE GOT A SHOTGUN FROM HIS VEHICLE AND PUT ON THE ROOF. A BERKS SQUAD CAR BEFORE THE OTHER OFFICERS ARRIVED COBB A THEN SHOT OFFICER JIMMY FARMER WARNING HER LEG AND SHOT OFFICER CARISSA DEVON MULTIPLE TIMES, INCLUDING IN THE FACE. FARMER WAS RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL FRIDAY. WELL, DAVID REMAINS HOSPITALIZED IN CRITICAL CONDITION. HOW THEY FLED THE SCENE AND OFFICERS CHASED THEM FOR 25 MILES, WHICH ENDED IN DRAMATIC CONFRONTATION ON THE INTERSTATE BE LEFT HIS VEHICLE ARMED WITH A SHOTGUN, A 6 OFFICERS FIRED AT HIM AND HE DIED AT THE SCENE INVESTIGATIONS INTO CUT BAIT INDICATE THAT HIS ATTACK WAS PREMEDITATED AND THE SUSPECT WAS POSTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND HAD BEEN PLANNING AN EVENT WHILE BEMOANING PROBLEMS IN HIS PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL LIFE. >> OUR OFFICERS WERE TARGETED. >> FOR NOTHING MORE THAN THE UNIFORM THEY WEAR. AND FOR THE BRAVE AND HONORABLE JOB THAT THEY DO. LAST NIGHT. WE LOST A BROTHER. >> OFFICER BURSA 94 THE U.S. POLICE OFFICER TO BE KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY THIS YEAR WITH TEXAS LEADING THE COUNTRY IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF FALLEN OFFICERS.
