Let's talk about SELLING SUNSET Season 8... Is the show getting bad???

[Music] hi everyone welcome back to my channel as per usual my name is marmy Newton and today I will be talking about the most recent piece of media I've watched so yeah let's get into it today I will be talking about the eighth season of Netflix's reality TV show selling sunset and um I'll will be talking about my opinions of the drama and the characters and how this show has changed from season 1 compared to season 8 so yeah to be completely honest I had no idea that a new season was even coming out for this show um I literally was I think I don't remember where I was on Friday I was just like out and about and then I saw like a notification from Netflix my Netflix account on my phone saying that the eighth season was out and I was like oh okay at first I was actually like oh I hope they didn't split it into two you know how they've been doing that with all their shows I was kind of worried about that but I looked at it and I mean when I watched it it's 10 episodes so I think that that's everything unless they split it into two and they're trying to have 20 episodes this season or something I think the season is over over luckily they dropped all the episodes in one day and it allowed me to binge it so um yeah now I can talk about the drama I think that this might be an unpop an unpopular opinion but I feel like Chelsea as a person as a character as a an entity on the show is overplayed I'm kind of done with it I feel like it's just Chelsea this Chelsea that Chelsea this Chelsea that Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea and I'm kind of over it it just kind of it was just personally it feel it's starting to feel the same as Christine where she was just kind of she was having drama with every single person she could have drama with it was just like a lot of ups and downs one person she was getting way too much screen time she was in your face all the time she was just like you just never knew when she was going to pick a fight with someone it was just like all over the place and it was just like negative negative negative nothing positive and I feel like that's the way Chelsea is becoming with like the drama with brie kind of playing out for three seasons straight now like it's just it's been going on since I think yeah this is Bri's third season and it's been going on since Bri joined the show it's like you don't if you don't agree with someone's lifestyle or some how someone lives their life like and they're not your friend what has it got to do with you like you can't you can force a horse to the Riverside or to the water but you can't force it to drink you can't make Brie live the life that you want to that you that you want to live or that you want her to live like that's just not how that works especially if she's a stranger to you and or she's not even your friend like that's just weird behavior and I didn't like that from Chelsea I feel like her and Bri that drama is just kind of blah blah blah now it's just over it and then randomly she had Chelsea uh again had drama with Mary at the start of the season and the drama was apparently because what uh I even forget what it's about but it kind of escalated really quickly to be about dress code and stuff like that and to be honest when it comes to that drama specifically my general consensus on that is that the Netflix producers or executive producers have been online they have seen all the discourse and all the Tik toks and all the YouTube videos that people have been posting about just um about how the ladies on the show dress and how inappropriate it is for work and they were like M inspiration right there we are inspired to create a story line out of this and then they wrote I mean like Chelsea's outfit was inappropriate and but then it's like all the ladies wear inappropriate outfits at some point like I mean I feel like they're always inappropriate for work but sometimes more than others you know what I mean so I just feel like they saw of that discourse online and decided to write that that into a storyline I just don't understand why they would use Chelsea again like I said she's so overplayed she's in your face all the time she's just wait all over the like all over and I'm just like tired of that and then um by the way in that argument Mary was definitely right like why is she wearing that to a broker's open I'm not a real estate agent nor am I a buyer nor do I have millions or anything but I can say that that outfit would have made some people uncomfortable because she just looked like she wasn't wearing any pants at all I mean she looked very professional above but below was lacking in something and then I also feel like we're still on Chelsea like this entire drama and everything with her it it's starting to like because she's had drama with so many people on the show I can't even remember if she's had drama with Nicole or like she just had drama with a lot of people on the show that I feel like at any point she's going to start having drama with Emma and crelle who are supposed to be like her best friends on the show or like her really close friends on the show and I feel like I wouldn't even put put it past Chelsea and I'm just kind of like if they're going to have a season 9 if they're getting renewed and they're getting the ninth season I don't really want to see any of that like not to say that I don't want any drama from Chelsea I'm just saying that it's too much drama from for one person like just they need to tone that down just a little bit just a little just a little speaking of you know introducing new story lines and new things um I remember you know this season we had a new girl joined the O group who is Alana I don't know her last name I don't really know any of the other people's last names I know chelle's last name is Styles I think um but I don't know anyone else's last name um so Alana is a new girl that joined I feel like her like Alana's Vibe is what actually got me thinking about the differences between season 1 and season 8 you know just cuz like when I was looking at Alana the way she's so professionally dressed you know she's just like wearing simple neutrals very like business casual um clean girl aesthetic if you will say um you know the way that she was dressed and just her General demeanor I was like hm I feel like this girl would have thrived a lot more on season 1 or season two of sell and sunset where things were a lot more grounded people were a lot more grounded and I mean it was still drama it was just like you know they didn't have stylists or not that I could tell that they these ladies in house stylist they weren't wearing crazy outfits they weren't like gallivanting around with their crazy Birkin bags and blah blah blah and Alana was clinging onto that one YSL bag like you know for dear life and I just felt like if she was in season 1 that would have she would have thrived more um but who's to say maybe she'll be back for the next season uh season 9 if they get one and then we'll see more from her you know you never know you never know but I also feel like at this point so so many people have left the show that the show just feels completely different it's not even just the fact that you can tell that the girls have elevated to the ladies have elevated to a brand new status it just feels like there's just like so many of the ogs gone like I said Christine was around for a while I kind of got tired of her I just but I didn't want her gone I just wanted all of that reduced a little bit you know uh Christina is gone deino was gone but to be fair she wasn't really deina wasn't really um contributing much to the show no like not to be mean or anything but she wasn't you know involved in a lot of the plot lines and stuff um I remember in season one she was definitely like she told on crelle and blah blah blah that yeah that was the last time I remember deina being like in the show where she's like part of story lines and stuff and then I mean I kind of miss Heather she was just kind of around just vibing minding her own business being chill and stuff and yeah Heather and then I don't know if anyone remembers but Vanessa she was also chill she was around um it's so funny that Vanessa had said that she's a telen Noella star because I've actually seen like I saw a couple of her shows as a kid I saw evaluna um I will put the photo here um so you know you guys can see uh evaluna I saw that as a kid and she was also in the show called Second Chance um and so I'd seen both of those so I actually knew who Vanessa was before the show when she first got introduced on the show and I was really excited to see her on there but it's so sad that her presence was shortlived and I don't know what she's doing now but yeah it was exciting to see her on the show another thing that I wanted to talk about was the Joshua Tree episode I was living living for that that was amazing it's so funny cuz a couple of years ago I was on the Airbnb app and I was looking up all these like really cool places to stay um you know using Airbnb and I saw that house in Joshua Tree um and it's called The Invisible house because it's all glass and you can kind of um because it's glass it reflects the atmosphere around and so it looks like it's blending into the surroundings and it's so pretty and it's so cool and I read that description I was like oh this is amazing I'd love to stay there oh God and then I looked up the price and it was $99,000 a night and I was like maybe not now maybe in a couple of years maybe at some point but that house has been on my I don't have a vision board but it's been in my thoughts for a while and it was so cool to see them you know go there and shoot and talk about the house on the show and like show the interior and all of that that was amazing I really really really enjoyed that that was cool that was very very cool apart from talking about the Joshua Tree House I also want to talk about this is I think the final piece of drama on the show that I thought was interesting this season that I want to you know talk about I feel like with regards to the Chelsea her husband Bri Emma crelle that entire Circle or whatever I felt like I mean it's fine if Chelsea doesn't like bri like we've known that for a while and blah blah blah but it's like I feel like there could have been a nicer way or a more polite way to ask Bri hey like she didn't even need to be like hey did you like orchestrate this which is essentially what she was trying to get at when she had Emma and criselle call Bri up on the phone and stuff um but you know like it would have been a nicer way like just ask for more details and try to see that but I also do think that it's kind of strange that Bri brought that Amanda girl to film on the show and that was like the tea that this Amanda girl had for Brie so like it is kind of suspicious a little bit on Bree's part but I also feel like Chelsea could have handle that a little bit better um and also like for some very odd reason they weren't dwelling on the like actual cheating drama and they were like oh like how did you find out why did you tell this person and it was like I get it that that's part of the drama of what's going on but and I also understand if they didn't want to actually explore the cheating part of it for the show or whatever you know um but it was just kind of strange that they kept hammering on it for the better part of the season and nothing got solved nothing was really done and it was just like whatever you know so it was just strange yeah and also with all the new people that are being added to the show you know it's like the show is becoming a re a revolving door at this point which makes sense right cuz it's a show about the people who work at the oppenheim group if you don't work there anymore you have no business being on the show um so it's kind of like I remember last season I think Chelsea was trying to bring some random girl to join the office but this season she's not in the show so I guess that didn't end end up happening but I'm interested to see if if they get a ninth season Amanda that was that started this whole cheating drama blah blah blah showing the text messages and whatnot stuff um will be able to join the o group and what the Dynamics will be overall I really enjoyed the season but I I love selling Sunset it's not even I don't even watch the show for the just the drama like I feel like I the drama is like a little spicy in there I love watching all the really cool houses that they're showing on and all the architecture um that one kany West house that they showed was crazy that was funny $33 million for essentially scaffolding that was hilarious um but yeah I enjoyed the
