[Music] today we are at Laguna Golf Club here at the ramco team series Singapore and I'm joined by two unbelievable guests you are the first guests on this podcast you're literally kicking this you are kicking off this podcast they will only go down from here cheese and Rich the guests um so we are joined by world number one Lydia Co and major winner Danielle Kang I mean I'm pretty excited that you guys are here we honestly could not have asked for a better Duo to start the Pod when did you guys first meet do you remember that yeah when Lydia was younger yeah that's actually half my age I think um first time we met was at U.S women's M and that was at the I think the the second one yeah that Danielle had won and then that was my first Uso Museum um I'd heard a lot about Danielle um like I had played World Ms and heard about the U.S team and um being good things about her yes yeah yeah yeah being from like a small country like New Zealand like going to the world ends like us was one of the top countries so we were always like whoa and Danielle was on the team and um having won the USM once pride and then the second time was the year that I'd played um I was kind of like fangirling but we didn't really have like a lot of chance to interact but it was kind of the start that's quite cute she was fangirling you before you came mates and now she is much younger than me she hit people forget she is much younger than my age so um I always thought of her as like a baby and that has never changed even like a little sister I was just like my baby a sister not even just like a stupid baby yeah her name and my phone's been babysits since forever I'm still 15. in my mind it's still 15. somebody off offers her alcohol I get all mad really oh my God I'm Chiller now but then even now I just kind of look I go okay so did you know you're gonna be mates when you first met or was it like a slow burner it was probably just uh gradual just interaction and I think we both had a liking to each other and it's just kind of stuck I think I actually Facebook messaged the nail did you really yeah yeah I think that was our first intervention yeah do you remember what you said I don't remember I feel like you remember what you said I'm pretty sure it was like Facebook we've had so many so many stories that it's been years yeah that I can't yeah I remember it being like Facebook and then because that was like the social media at the time so um yeah I remember like messaging do you remember what it was so you don't remember no idea I don't know in Facebook anymore so yeah yeah me neither now we just hit each other really really weird videos yeah on DMS yeah I mean there's a lot of weird games that go out so in every podcast episode we have this thing called The Baker's Dozen which is a play on my name if you hadn't noticed the producers thought it'd be very funny um and basically if you select a ball from in that bowl each number corresponds to a question I've got written down on my laptop here so it's meant to be a nice little Icebreaker so Daniela this went really well so those teacups were meant to be really nice ornaments the Teacups are meant to be really nice ornaments but you know what you know what I'm not even surprised you're like I was just chilling I have this whole time here I was trying to bring into Lids she's trying to be the nice older sister I'll just hold it this is gonna be bad whoa and then I got it I got this do you need help over that we're choosing one each right yes and I need the microphone oh we have to keep moving back and forth that's why here I hope yeah so that's wait you're gonna take three goals each um can you just pick two more for me thanks sorry this is why I shouldn't move I love these girls on the podcast already it's fun okay what number do you have um Danielle tell me your first number the sound guy is probably so mad are you good are you good cool the secret number eight number eight what was the last thing you binged on Netflix The Glory yesterday the whole plane what's the glory it's a Korean TV show um that everybody's talking about what's it about Revenge from childhood I watched it really fast though so I like to press the right button it's abuse like um that the main character got in like high school I think it's highlighting a lot of bullying yeah and how it's How could it could affect somebody's life very negatively uh as they grow up all that stuff so and it's a story about how she revenges um I'm not a huge fan of the entire concept but it's very intriguing to watch I like to say why did you watch it in fast forward ah because I'd like to get to the point so I always watched the last episode like How I Met Your Mother I needed to go to season 10 or 11 whatever it was in the last episode I didn't know who the mother was because after first two episodes I went I don't know who the mom is I need to know so interesting so you'll Watch the last episode then you'll binge went to from the start again I'm not a big TV show person so either I watch it really fast skipping through episodes or I just I'm a movie more of a movie person it ends in two hours do you fast forward your movies no okay movie the story ends it begins the beginning middle and the climax and then the the resolution and that's what I like I don't like the build up build up wait till next week Thursday like I can't do that okay I'm getting a nice picture of who you are as a person now yeah I'm not a yeah when you know those people it's like can we talk tomorrow I'm like what do you want or just don't say anything to me at all and then just tell me tomorrow okay no Lydia has more patience all right Lydia what number have you got on your oh cut golf ball the first member got one number one I only have two numbers out of the five digits I have yeah nice okay number one what is your go-to fast food order that's awesome and then now in and out in and out um cheeseburger double with animal style fries what with what animal style fries existed until we didn't get your fries walls done all done right oh I got it crispy crispy fries is the way to go in all fries that's a must I've never had an in and out before oh well you live in England right yeah you don't have in and out everything oh yeah yeah so can you just what is an animal's what it's like chips well like french fries with like cheese onions grilled onions like stylish kind of thing yeah it's like not on the menu but everybody apparently knows about it that I could have a lot from you either have chili on fries which you could have your burger and animal stylist yeah it's kind of like the 13 like feel but it's not gravy it's just other condiments nice I think I'll try that if I ever go to an in and out it's pretty good yeah it's definitely on my bucket list like going to In and Out is on my bucket yeah I feel like because I live on the east coast every time I go to California it's I have to go and get in and out yeah you know one of the craziest things is I make golf content um but doing a me eating my first ever Chick-fil-A on Tick Tock did better than loads of my golf videos foreign that's weird isn't it food related stuff is going viral yeah and it's not you it's the rest of the world and Chick-fil-A yeah that was good so I'm looking forward to making a nap back I'm bringing something um Danielle what's your next number uh three I guess three what is the worst thing you've forgotten to pack when traveling to a tournament you know I was looking at you but the words didn't seem to die I will reply again so sorry yeah one more time what is the worst thing you've forgotten to pack when traveling for a tournament toothpaste oh yeah I'm very specific about my toothpaste so I've learned my lesson because when you go to different countries and different places in the world they don't have the specific toothpaste that I like what's that it's just a Colgate with the purple and the red it's just it's got a fresh like aftertaste I guess okay but if I keep using different type of toothpaste was the worst seven week stretch that was like beginning of my uh tour years I guess and so we did that whole nine week stretch I don't know if you guys remember that whole craziness like Malaysia Thailand like Malaysia Taipei Korea Japan China like it was high enough it was like a huge stretch and I didn't have my toothpaste for six weeks I wanted to cry okay a while in this tough life you know yeah left my phone and I was fine so you won't I left my phone before and I was fine I just got a burner and then wow the toothpaste is more important than my phone 100 nice I kind of like that in a weird way Lydia what do you think about that interesting she knows me well enough yeah I mean that I just got a burner sounded more like a line in in a movie than uh then yeah golfer but everybody has their preferences exactly I can attest that some toothpaste tastes really weird so yeah uh Lydia so what's your next number on your 11 11. how did you celebrate your first ever professional win Ken oh my God I do know this I don't think you're my first professional when as an immature as a pro either the one that was successed I mean I was underage so I wasn't drinking and how old were you my first professional win was maybe honest 14 the New South Wales open yeah I mean you're almost professional and I guess yeah you you can't drink well I don't I still don't drink um so that much so so like I celebrate any differently but sounds thrilling yeah went to the mall after the Canadian open yes yeah and we bought um sweatpants yeah yeah wow I'm not gonna say six friends the first LPGA we went to the mall okay and went for a shopping not even a spree just bought some trousers well those yeah those you know we just hung out when the mall and those sweatpant Brands quite famous through oh yeah yeah I didn't want to see it wow I know what it is yeah sorry I didn't want to say it yeah yeah we went to buy sweatpants it was like a specific sweatpants that I really liked and I told her she needs to have one yeah and then she loved it super warm usually a Potter punch and I said it's on my mom and swiped her credit card pretty sure I did that yeah I was like it's all mom today and then just I think with like Kathleen and me too that is how you celebrated yes interesting I didn't know what to expect I was thinking maybe a party or going crazy but it's just one when she was a baby I think that's like 15. it's still like that though yeah I don't um I don't really celebrate yeah people think a lot of people coffers just go in just rage they just don't yeah it's like another day it's on to the neck mans yeah it's just another day we had it here fast um Danielle we've got one more 12 golf ball left at 12. if you weren't a professional golfer what would you be doing that really depends my there's so many things I want to be she's multi-telling oh there's so many things I want to be I can't answer that what like give us a few options then like right now or when I was like 12 14 16 right now I want to own an entertainment business oh own an entertainment business this soon sooner or later um no just I want to get into entertainment business when I'm what kind of entertainment though uh probably more into like TV whether it's directing producing like I'm not going to be the director or the producer but that supports the right the scenarios or the scripts and how the TV shows would go out like those kind of interactions with something that I'd be really interested in have you done anything like that or tried anything like that already I mean kind of yes or no I mean I'm not I've seen it happen like I've witnessed it right it's like one time I wanted to be a lawyer I've met a lawyer right like I wanted to be an actress like I've met an actress it's like it's hard to say I can't say I've been in that business I've seen it and I it really intrigued me okay what goes on behind the cameras and the scenes and how they set everything up and who writes it who directs it The Sound everything and I think it's brilliant that is a possibility for you after your golf career maybe for right now I'm a golfer you you're a golf and you're a very good golfer um Lydia what is your love another 13 13 13. yes so I've got to tell you if you pick the number 13. no wonder it's blue a little forfeit um so we're going to give you a bit of a forfeit because I don't have to do it no you're gonna have to do something else oh there's something else yeah are they even force it meaning like you're good yeah I'm like I'm you're done yeah oh no this is like a forfeit as an um a bad thing but it's not like shape a bag these are kind of one like the shop is coming off here is blue oh it's coming off um okay I'm gonna ask you who was the last person you looked up on Instagram do you have your phone on you yeah it might have been somebody probably we already like we know or like a friend no should we have a look we got your phone there you'd be surprised like you gotta type up your friend's name to go to their account so Sports box AI sport so it's not even a person what a sports box AI to you it's like um Tech like 3D analysis simulator yeah like how does your body upload your swing oh but it's like an app that you you do it on um who used to play on tour she's the founder of it and a lot of I think golf coaches are involved with the app as well so that's pretty cool and actually that is like the ending thing you look at yeah it's the only thing when I've got one searched history yeah yeah only one I think I must have cleared it before I don't know what I searched before yeah it must have been something bad very big um that's interesting I love that yeah all right the next part of the podcast is called a swing down memory lane so I'm going to show you some photos I just want you to describe the photos and then tell us a little bit about what is happening so Lydia you're up first we've got three photos here for you so you just need to swipe right but this is the very first photo so if you can describe to anyone who is watching on YouTube um what the photo is of yeah so um Danielle was there at my wedding um got married on the 30th of December last year congrats so this photo is um a photo that um a photographer took uh of us that day and my husband's got like I almost said no [ __ ] no [ __ ] like um but he's got like uh like look back um interesting no I know what he's looking at and I don't know what I'm looking at it I just really like the photo of it yeah but this was one of my favorite photos and we actually don't have any other official wedding photos yet and then you've not received them yeah I've only got nine oh wow like this photographer it wasn't our main photographer wedding photographer he was just a friend of um my one of my relatives so he took like a few Snips and this was one of them but I haven't got any other main stuff so I mean photographer sounds a little bit dodgy considering he's not giving you any photos it just takes a while yeah just I know there's just a lot of photos um so hopefully he's just in the editing process yeah yeah go to this one but it's super pretty it's like a black and white photo and yeah yeah gorgeous thank you it's the power of makeup um yeah the next one is um after or on the final day after I won the CMA TOUR Championship last year uh that shows a very special year for me um both on the golf course and then off the golf course as well so I was I didn't have enough hands to hold I'm gonna say this is a bit of a flex right here which is uh obviously uh um this kind of the these kind of days don't happen very often so I was like maybe I'll take it like this and then it's a photo of Lydia lying down on is it a next to a bunker it's just the 18th haul yeah the right side too many trophies and medals and you're just flexing it was uh definitely a great day at the office Thursday and you still didn't celebrate yeah no oh we did have pizza yeah we did everything wild night and my team and family drank that day I think I was so tired that um I was pooped I just kind of went to bed early yeah this one I think is this from Arkansas oh a Party Mania I thinks it's from August the 7th 2014 so this is a throwback photo of Lydia and Danielle Kang I feel like look at the date it's 2014 August that must be you know it's after because July used to be a win the last time in the background Tom came back after Dad so that's 2014. can we also just say the caption is I love you at Danielle Kang hashtag sisters hashtag two peas in a pod hashtag yeah I'm heavy yeah I used to give her piggyback roads all the time yeah here and there there was like a collection of it [Music] it's red so it's not Arkansas right yeah Arkansas would be blue and yellow where is it Rift so this is a good memory I can tell I don't think it's sharp right so that both stopped I think the quality of the photo is like an official definition of pine needles foreign yeah because that one was still in July then right the US Women's Open yeah cannot remember well I mean that's not the only pick we have of that so before that we did that there so it's hard to narrow down the next three photos are I wonder what I'm gonna get oh my Golf Digest cover yeah tell us a bit about this this was actually probably one of my biggest goals is to get a Golf Digest cover and this girl boss moment huh girl boss moment I think it's just really important to have you know women's golf be on Spotlight and I know Golf Digest is super supportive and sometimes it's hard to take the leap and put a women's golfer on the cover more so than the PGA tour players and I just wanted to be one of them and they chose me and it was probably one of the coolest things that's ever happened that is being a professional golfer did they come and get in touch with you to be on the front page yeah they also had butchers laid out as well my coach and um we did a shoot there we shot this actually at his Academy so that was easy to do and everyone was super fun to work with and Golf Digest has been really supportive you know in Asia and everywhere like Europe America so um I was thankful that's pretty cool did you get did you get a physical copy as well yeah of course but I think it was really hard for people to find it sometimes and then I kept signing it every time I saw it on at the airports and things really I only posted it once but I did it everywhere I went and it became like a treasure hunt find and then some people said that why would you sign something that you didn't buy so then golf dad just all set me like a box of it so I signed it and started putting it on the Shelf which would have been interesting because I wonder if that you can pay it again but it was really cool because people took selfies with the signed copy and then sent it to me I just don't repost all the time but it was really cool to see it that's so cool I love that it's my baby okay who is this in the photo this is Buddha this is my baby okay then you're next yeah because he says my baby is the most handsomest in the world Buddha is like the best FYI everyone here it's not an actual legitimate child it is a legitimate child it's a legitimate child please do not insult my dog like that he's the best looking pug he's so cute I miss him I actually miss him so much last week that I would call so many of my friends to keep bringing their dogs and then I'm pretty sure I picked up this Brandon person's dog in Korea and sat in a cafe for about 25 minutes until they left with the dog how old is he he's 10 years old oh wow double digits I know he's fine he's like a puppy I think it's just um the interesting part of it is that he's probably they've never seen a human trained by a dog and I'm totally trained by him but you're trained by him by him okay he tells me what to do like I go and greet him so if he goes upstairs and Barks it means he wants me to come up and give him a treat so if I'm sitting on the couch he runs upstairs and Barks and I go up there gives him give him a treat and come back back down and it'll come down dog he's interesting I miss him okay what's the final photo oh it's my first and my last major win to this date as my first tournament win ever and you're holding a trophy that honestly looks I don't know if it's a perspective but it looked way bigger than you it's massive it's very very heavy how did you do that then you're literally holding it above your head I was I had a lot of adrenaline so happy it's like a weightlifting photo this was great I celebrated with this one this wasn't just another day it's just [ __ ] yeah so what where was this um Olympia Fields in Chicago I guess north of Chicago 2017. amazing and how did you celebrate after that one we didn't no I was in Vegas oh he went to Vegas to celebrate yeah I live in Vegas but my friends flew out that's nice and I had a long story short I was I knew I had a morning drive interview on Tuesday at eight o'clock and I got a call at 4 45 by my agent at the time David Winkle who's Dustin's agent and I used to be with them and he called and said where are you and I said uh why he goes you have an interview and at in 20 minutes and I said it's at eight on Tuesday he's like it's Tuesday and I said but it's at eight he goes Eastern Time D where are you I'm at a strip club he goes okay I need you to figure this out now I was like okay so that's about the summing up the story but it was a great few days I wasn't expecting that after you told me that you celebrated with pizza and mole together you celebrated with pizza true but you went to the mall together right but I was also how old were you when you won Fourteen and fifteen fifteen yeah it's 20 like I can't I'm not gonna take her out drinking back then when I'm 20 in Canada I don't even know they're like you got it's gonna be time and place and also we didn't have a tournament after this it was my first major win I was 25. yeah gotta do it big well it's not gonna do it big it's about the people around you technically the win is for me right like you feel it and there's like that moment where you'll know you'll you know that feeling definitely like that yeah I cannot relate so I definitely describe it yeah I did it or whatever that it could be like a minute it could be 30 seconds it could be an hour but that's your moment and after that I I believe that it's about the people that helped you get there and like they want to celebrate so trust me my first win there was a lot of people I wanted to celebrate and that's so nice that all those people who have been supporting you and believed in you yeah and then you can't do it I can't do it without them I mean it takes a village to get us here sitting here in front of you same thing with lids you know whether it's friends family um teammates sponsors all of the above you know yeah that's pretty epic that back nine back nine was fishing she remembers it was wild that was a good win yeah that's super cool um I'm glad you got to celebrate properly though that's good I mean there was a time where I Shanghai when there's probably one of my favorite celebrations I just went to my cat at the time got me I want on my birthday and he got me a birthday dinner it was a two Michelin star restaurant or three Michelin star it was really expensive and it was like a full course I had a private room it was just me my mom and then later Lizette joined me but then I just had dinner it's my birthday like I just wanted to go with my mom and then later on like I remember talking you being like you're like where'd you go I go I'm just eating and then all of a sudden like because if you invite one like obviously I want to be with everybody but it was originally for two of us and then um that was probably one of my favorite things because I didn't do any anything just sat there same thing with uh I think No-No and I was with MBO sharing a house with Envy Kia and introduce with like when I walked in and that was about it yeah we went to like a Teppanyaki place that's it I like that I'm kind of more on that level I would say I'm not much of a party animal you sleep you don't sleep much though right there at night after you win and you sleep late yes yeah that's what is something that I did realize I think it's still the adrenaline yeah running like I don't fall asleep no you're just like wired but you're not wired like this you're just you're just up I don't know why everything's all done you're in bed and I'm like I'm still up at 3am you right yeah because I message her and then she messages you back all the time after she wins like at like 3 30. because she's up just been like I can't sleep I'm so excited no so I don't think it's that is it it's just still wired like there's just a lot of things going on and then I feel like you have that time to yourself and that's when it almost like it seeps in yeah like that's your time like it comes it comes to you sometimes it probably it's you yeah and then the next day you're exhausted I feel like you'd be exhausted if you're seeing up till 3am you can't see your mind is Super Active yeah but then like if you've got a tournament the week after it's it's almost like okay we're we're back to the next week and then you're just focusing on that week yeah he's crazy your golf life's like crazy I'm not gonna lie she's just like they're wild all right I actually asked some questions on my Instagram from followers who would like to ask you questions so we're going to go through some of them the first question from um Claire Hogle how would you describe yourself so Danielle how would you describe yourself honest blunt I would you know what in the nicest way I would describe myself as true yeah I like that though that's good Lydia how would you describe yourself and pretty boring yeah I'm pretty boring I can't believe that at all and I'm fine being boring uh I I wouldn't say you were boring I don't know you're comparing yourself to but I don't think she's very level-headed yeah maybe it's just her her personality is very much the flatlined and if she's upset she's like this she's really upset she's like this kind of nice you have to be right it's good for golf that's my life isn't this and it's like like he just saw this incident yeah I'm more like here I'm like a bit of a roller coaster but that's nice having a level-headed person yeah yeah but is it quiet in there that's the question is it oh she doesn't even know what's going on WOW okay um and this is from at deige underscore golf and this is to Danielle what is the best advice a coach or Mentor has given you in golf or in life I think that's opening up a whole can of warrants it's like a long explanation Oh I thought somebody gave you an advice to open up a candle room whoa what does that mean there's a lot I mean it just depends on the timing of my life I guess my big best advice I've gone recently is that like my mom asked me last year's like because I might have not been able to play again and then I guess she just straight upset to me like just golf all you can do and I said no she goes there you go so that actually kind of got me excited that maybe my chapter is closing and like I wasn't afraid or like it isn't my everything so even if I'm back here it's because I like it and I want to be here oh so it doesn't mean the door is shut to everything else either no it's not bad it's just it's not comparing like instead of like being wanting to be world number one so bad instead of wanting to win it so desperately like I'm pretty sure I've laid that down is because like so it's not everything to me simply so I think I learned that lesson on those really helpful a really nice question from your mum my mom's very very also true and blunt it's kind of like a kind of a deep question in a light way I don't know how to describe that but that's exactly how I felt when you're I briefed it and I feel like that's a question that like um moms are like one of the few people that can actually ask that to us and then we can be actually honest with answers okay this is for you Lydia this is from at Charlotte Lyman what is your best tip to get to LPGA level you just gotta practice like really hard yeah hard meeting yeah and then I think also embracing the journey that sometimes it's not just gonna be sunny good days where it's gonna go exactly the way you wanted to I think those days are more seldom than then actually the days where sometimes nothing goes the way you want it to um but I feel like there's a lot to learn from from the days where it's like super tough but yeah yeah hard work ethic I think in any industry or like no matter what you do is like an important key definitely you've got to put in the time to get back oh look at LPG is kind of like like applying for a job right yeah in order to apply for a job you gotta study and then you have to be good at what you do same things gotta put the effort this is from pascala koffa who plays on the let actually um and this is for Lydia again how do you cope with feelings of pressure I still don't think I'm perfect uh is my first year swim is open I was so nervous I couldn't even line up my ball on the first screen um I had the major shakes uh and even now like on the first year last hole Pro-Am I still like sometimes get nervous um but when I was younger I thought being nervous was a bad thing uh just because there was like another variable that you may or may not be able to control but at the same time I think when you are in pressured conditions and you are a little bit nervous you're able to hit shots that you may necessarily not be able to in practice you know the adrenaline and everything that comes with it so obviously I'm nervous because it means a lot to me I I want to do well so I try and take that in a little bit and then you know try and drink a lot of water and stay calm and just realize that nerves are kind of a natural thing and um and not be afraid of it and just you know trust what I'm doing and you know let be more free about it so do you like if you suddenly get all that adrenaline now so you like breathe or do you just ride the wave of the nurse um I used to like do like a breathing drill or like breathe in for like four and then hold a few seconds and then like uh breathe out but once I like held my breath too long I couldn't like I was getting really dizzy so I think it's finding the right like um threshold for you uh yes note to self don't hold your breath for too long um but yeah just you know drinking lots of water you know talking to my caddy you know keeping the conversations pretty light and then when I had the shot in front of me try and focus on that and I think um when I do get nervous or tense I try and like become more like detailed orientated and take things a lot slower rather than you know rushing everything and um trying to get that situation over and done with yeah I think that's good advice I think it happens to everyone even when I first started this podcast literally a second ago I lost all my words in that moment and I was like oh for God's sake Mia because I just felt really nervous all of a sudden and then now like I'm super chilled but like just taking a step where you just don't think about anything refresh restart I think it applies to absolutely everything yeah um you do because it's all human exactly they're literally all human and we all go through exactly the same thing so I don't think it's anything to be like ashamed of you know okay this is for Danielle it's from any 5si I don't even know how people come up with these names what is your favorite on-course snack other than nature um how the brand but it's a raspberry fig bar a raspberry fig bar fig bar oh they're kind of soft oh I love them it's gluten-free raspberry for figure bar she eats a lot of bananas on the golf course you eat also a lot of bananas and Marines I don't like bananas I just eat them because it's very very convenient hmm wow interesting I can't even say I don't like yeah I'm gonna say how could you or feel like people either love a banana or they hate a banana Nature's Bakery that's what yeah no I'm not sponsored by them I just really really like them I purchased them on my own do people think everything you say is sponsored yeah people think that a lot right they're like oh I really liked uh the liquid IV or whatever they're like because you get smells right no like I actually drink it same weight yes you could now get a Colgate spells oh yeah you could get a Colgate sponsor you can get your nature the purple and red ones yeah it's weird though sometimes it says 90 but I want the 80 percent I'm very specific okay you're watching yeah but yeah I know I do spend a lot of money on toothpaste and toothbrushes see who would be a more real okay Ambassador then somebody that uses it and travels with it and says the worst thing she'd forgotten is a toothpaste I think you've sold yourself perfect thanks I think the worst thing I forgot is a golf club and she's here thinking it's a regardless of your face yeah I had to survive with one dozen at South at the aramco the first one all the balls the balls but I really don't like traveling with them anyways it's okay I have a dozen and a half here oh to use the new ones now I went back to the next general Texas we are with Titleist balls though yes so yeah yeah that is our response that is actually half legit that's legit best ball number one bowling golf number one player using number one for me I love this ball only one with the titles ball actually oh really yep in all my life I've only wrong with it every level yeah Tyler's gonna use this as a snippet laughs you should be in the entertainment industry Lydia not me she'll be the agent don't worry this is from at Chloe underscore Godby what does your typical training week look like and this is to both of you please call first um in a off week during the season um I'll probably practice for like five-ish hours you know mixing up between long game short game and then play a few holes and then I'll go work out for an hour and a half two hours um I think I'd like to see my trainers uh as much as possible even in the off week and lift a little bit heavier then because you know the facility and everything's there whereas when we're on the road you don't really know what you're gonna get at the hotel um so yeah I think do a little bit more like heavier weight uh more compound uh lifting um in the uh for my workouts and then yeah and then go and have dinners I like to cook so oh no that's also kind of part of the daily routine but yeah I think overall it's like kind of seven-ish hours of doing like golf related stuff yeah nice and for you Danielle I sleep as much as I can and then my day starts when I wake up okay yeah I actually really value sleep how many hours of sleep do you usually try and get I when I'm at home I do not set an alarm but I could sleep 18 hours so you're like me I always thought I had a problem though being like why do I speak so much it's actually a medical thing yeah and I have to sleep so I plan my days around my sleep so people thought that was like not an athlete's thing but the more I don't sleep the more I can't function um you can't control it though that's just like you right well I mean to live a consistent like professional life on tour like I have to wake up like I have to force myself to wake up at latest nine a.m or go to bed by a certain time um et cetera but at home anyways I wake up whenever I wake up that's when I just eat and then I head out to the golf course but I don't sleep 18 hours every day so there will be like it'll be dominant by the golf days it's I don't play as often if it's a plain day I'll wake myself up and go play full 18 um and then practice short game and then go home and then go do workouts I don't work out as like as often as her I do more like rehab and body functioning stuff so I always say I'm on the floor when I'm working out you know when you're like doing the little bins and then like the reaches and then the holes and like mines are mine are a lot of isometrics um but I train out the UFC performance Institute so we have a schedule from like three to four four to five five to six or five to seven so those three hours or two hours will be blocked out all the time so that's when I see my physio trainer mental coach when I'm home and before that is when I put in the cough hours how many people around you do you have to do all of your training so I'm like a coach a personal trainer a uh with physios on their own um I have a trainer back in the US I have a couple different trainers a mental coach a swing coach yeah I think it like depends on the person like some players travel with their physio trainer coach like um and then some people travel with none so it's just kind of finding what works best for you I think it's like seven or eight people wow I think how many people including counties like just like your immediate team yeah I think mine's a little less mine would add up to that number just because I have a trainer like and uh when I go back home to Florida and then a trainer somebody that I'll see like uh over on the west coast and then the trainer maybe will not go to Korea but I think um yeah everybody's numbers are different and some people don't even have swing coaches because their dad um coached them from when they were young so I don't think it's like one fits for all that's super interesting we have like a good team around you Lydia this is from CES gif 22. was it more difficult to get to world number one in 2015 or in 2022. um to be honest uh when I became one number one just recently I didn't think that I would ever get back to that position again so I'm just after the year that I had it was uh you know even if I wasn't number one I was still number two I was just very happy and um grateful for the 2022 season um whereas in like when I became number one in 2015 I think the week before that I became number one I was leading a tournament and I had uh very bad last few holes and I ended up uh losing uh that event um and I was more gutted that I uh had such a bad finish to not be able to win um that tournament and then they were like oh you know you're projected to be number one the next week so it was a lot of mixed emotions and I think when I first became number one I was so young it I did it wasn't able to um really sink in and um I wasn't really sure if I really deserved to be there and even now I don't think I walk around thinking I'm the number one ranked player in the world I haven't even looked at the rankings in so long I don't know what the points difference is and I just know that if I play the best golf I can and you know keep putting myself in contention then everything else is going to sort of sell foul and I get to play alongside the best female golfers week and week out and I think it's not trying to maintain the ranking it's just I'm just trying to play the best golf and trying to um win uh when I you know turn up and play at events so do you feel like that's a nicer way to be though like now you're just a bit more free yeah I think meeting my husband actually was a huge help with that um he was like I always told myself hey like don't let golf um dictate how I pursue myself uh don't let a bed round at the golf course make me feel like a lesser person but I think really meeting him and having like a different something else like in my world uh that now I've gotten to enjoy spending time with and you know to love that I realize that yeah you know what even if I shoot 79 today it's not the end of the world um and I think he really helped me get a whole new perspective with that and uh so I've got to thank him you know a lot for that and now I think everything else that happens is kind of an extra cherry on Doppler cake and I'm able to embrace that a lot better but still when I'm out there I still want to shoot the best score I can and get frustrated when things don't go my way but I think I'm understanding the concept of all of that a lot better now so um definitely thanks to him for that that's super nice if he's listening you've got a number one fan right here it's it's like the middle of the night over there so maybe later if you have a listen to this man well luckily for you guys this is the final question and the last question we're going to be asking everybody on this podcast that is what is the one thing people don't know about you that you wish they knew oh so we will see you how are both our faces like with which they didn't know like you didn't need all afternoon you know like some people make a judgment or assumptions about you but you've never it happens all the time so so what is it about you that you wish people I really don't care though they're gonna think my favorite is when they like think whatever they want about me and then but then that's already their judgment so like I really just don't really care that much you're give a s level goes down yeah more and more and we've all are perceived in our own way and I guess like a lot of times people I think what a lot of my friends defend me more than I defend myself it's like no like she defends her she's like no Danielle and he's like well blood blank blank like she's I almost said like something about her when chicken now yeah you're like no she's like me offends me yeah your aunt Rez what's your answer Liz was there something was there something that people don't know that you wish that they knew about or like you really like I don't know biscuits um actually five five and three quarters like you're not five six but I'm not five five on my profile is five five and three quarters but I'm five five three quarters wow that's about it everything else they don't need to know about me that's good I like that so do you usually call yourself five five or five six I'm five five five five five five six at this point five six it doesn't really get that much like I'm not winning any extra points and I'm already married exactly to the love of my life I'm trying I'm trying to think like what is there some people I you gotta ask somebody else that question instead of like what do I wish that people knew about Lydia that they didn't know about Lydia okay can you answer for Danielle Lydia I think everybody like a lot of people have asked me like oh is like Danielle like super intense and like in person I think that's like a question that I've gotten asked and then I'm like no she's actually like really sweet and I think you've got to realize that a lot of people that watch like this is our job right um and we're trying to do well at our job we're not just trying to do mediocre um so like I think everybody is different some people are a lot more focused than others like in just how other people see everybody is focused um and I think that's why like players come off like a certain way then um than other people but I don't think that means they're like more mean or like more intense or like crazy um and I think that's like a question that I've gotten I asked about Danielle and they're like oh is she like super intense I'm like no she's like just focused and like focused on her job and what she's trying to do out there and she's actually one of the sweetest person I know and one of the most family orientated like person I know um I don't think I've met anyone that actually thinks about their family and loved ones as much as Danielle like she's always gonna be there this is how much she defends me she's always gonna be there like whether it's a good or bad things for like family and friends and I actually can handle my heart say I don't know a single person that like is more like family and like um you know click your close bubble orientated as much as as much as her um and like actually seeing her makes me and like kind of what the relationship that um she has with Mama Kang like her mom like that kind of makes me feel like oh I need to be a better daughter for my mom so something that I also learn from so it's not exactly I feel like I think people have to realize that's our job we're just trying to do a good job of our job so it's not all it looks like from the outside in but imagine if everyone was filmed in their day today you're at your office and someone was filming you trying to like type your emails will you get what I get from this right now is Lydia is more bothered by my perception by other people that I thought they're fine isn't it so cute it's the sweetest thing ever that's what people need to know about Lydia yeah you need to answer this question I mean I I can't like say this entire thing but like you know like thank you Liz no no but she's um I mean people always see you know I don't know how to explain it it's just I want things that I say about you is that like Lydia is feisty I do say that and it's it's not in a negative connotation I don't like she is feisty like she's dedicated like she's not just she wasn't just born into whatever she's doing in that probably irks me the wrong way when they're like oh like she gets lucky or she probably like she's meant to be that I go no no one's meant to be anything she worked her ass off to be there what are you talking about but they're like of course she wins again or like some those things really really irk me the wrong way um but it's because I've seen how hard she works like but it's not just golf right it's life too there's a lot of your own demons and you fight that within yourself to get to where you want to get to just because she's quiet doesn't mean that like she doesn't have feelings like when you just spit things out yeah so those kind of things is what I want people to know is that like hey she's not a robot like she's she's spicy she's loving like she's dedicated she wants to be the best like that's who she is at Best of her version I had to get air plugs earplugs come on what a like caring compliment you need to take that compliment just put it in your heart no it's okay so she's the prettiest whole thing apologize yeah this is so cute like I'm going away with a big like heart you know that heart emoji that's so good we should have a heart tattoo and Tattoos oh my gosh really together yeah oh my God that's real love wow I think the tattoo artist was a little drunk but he was very drunk got a little draculous he was very drunk where were you when you got that Florida yeah she heard a girl she had a bottle of whiskey right next to him I mean he messed mine up pretty bad yeah so like she had to get it red touched yeah twice yeah and hers came out perfect great oh this is so cute well anyway guys thank you so much for joining us on this first episode of the podcast it's been super nice getting to know you more like I've
