a company that suddenly closed a Holiday Park in North Wales is facing increased pressure to reveal their plans for the site Britannia Hotel shut the pontins pisatin at the end of last year it saw the loss of around 200 seasonal jobs local MP James Davis says many companies have expressed interest in acquiring the site but attempts to contact britania hotels have been unsuccessful Ian Lang reports Kevin O'Neal was looking forward to his 16th year working at pontins prostatin a seasonal job that he loved the sudden closure of the attraction left him both shocked and saddened he'd not only lost a job but also the fellow workers many of whom had become firm friends everything was really really really good and that's why I work there it's the longest job I had in me life so it must have been good how are people feeling about the way they were treated they feel really really upset upset um um just demoralized by by the the whole thing all of a sudden everybody's just been dispersed and split up and that bond that they had they've lost pontin for satin is one of three holiday parks around the UK closed by britan hotels who bought the business in 2011 but the lack of clarity around what plans they have for the site has proved a point of concern for both the area MP and dempire Council who sought meetings with the company only to have them canceled I've written to 14 companies with tourism backgrounds with who are highly regarded I've had responses from a good number of those there are at least three expressions of interest I'm aware of from tourism related companies in this site in purchasing this site and taking it forward in a positive way the difficulty I'm having is uh making contact with britania Hotel well we we can't make uh any um decision really until we've had discussions with with the owners britania and as I say that's proved problematic um it's a big site uh tourism is important to pran and important to the to the region so uh the the thoughts are we'd like this to very much remain in the within tourism such is the concern that the Secretary of State for Media Sports and culture Lucy Fraser MP has interv urging the company to engage with the communities affected meanwhile Kevin says he just hopes there is a future a lot of them now are hoping that that somebody buys it and they can get maybe get the jobs back in the same environment that they had with pontings and and perhaps recreate what they had before so that that would be nice we've contacted batania hotels asking them to comment on the points raised but so far there's been no response in Lang ITV news praan
