The Perpetual Career of Chad Henne

after winning another Super Bowl the NFL loses a 15-year veteran as he rides off to the sunset with the Kansas City Chiefs and that man is none other than Chad Henny after playing for many teams behind many greates Henny hangs up the cleats I'm peer Sports Productions and this is the career of Chad [Music] Henny Chad Steven Henny was born on July 2nd 1985 in West Reading Pennsylvania his education and the beginning of his football career began in Wilson High School to say the least Henny was a pure athlete the man played not only quarterback but was also on the basketball team and on the track and field team being State runner up in the javelin but his brightest highlight was in the grin iron in his high school career Chad would start every game by one for the Bulldogs as well as holding two division titles and stay runner up in 2002 losing the central dolphin in the championship Chad would also claim career records of passing yards and touchdowns and tie the touchdowns in a game record by the time he hit his senior year Hanny was honored Pennsylvania all state Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year and parade high school All-American Chad would also participate in the big 33 football classic and the US army All-American bow after his junior year Chad was already building scholarships from colleges 40 to be precise Miami Georgia Penn State and Tennessee were all calling for Henny but hny only answered one call by CERN Wolverine Michigan was just coming off a great season being the Big 10 Champion but losing to USC in the Rose Bowl Michigan as well lost their starter in John dear to the NFL draft they even had need the opportunity to be the starter for the Wolverines Chad entered in 2004 he was the third quarterback behind bu Fred shirts from the year before and just before the season could start head coach Lloyd Carr would announce that Matt Gutierrez would be the starter even though he was dealing with a sore shoulder it wouldn't be until days later that that car would retract that statement and star Henny in order for Gutierrez to heal Chia would be the second true freshman ever to start for Michigan and will lead the team to a 43-10 victory against Miami Red Hawks for his first career game from here was explosive for Michigan mainly credited by Henny's weapons of Mike Hart bran Edwards Jason vent and Steve Breon Michigan would be big 10 co-champions alongside Iowa but once again lost in the Rose Bowl losing to Texas 37- 38 Hanny would also be tied with the season record for touchdowns after 2004 hny would gain heavy criticism and stumble to a 3 and3 start hely due to a close loss against Notre Dame in which he completed fewer than half of his past attempts and lost to Fumble on the goal line he would go on to win four games straight to a overall 7 to5 season in 2006 would be a slight change within the coaching staff but most of the starters returning Michigan would blow up after winning seven game straight going 7-1 where lost to Ohio State giving them the Big 10 champion title Michigan would still play the Rose Bowl but lose to USC once again 18-32 this would be Chad's best season as a wolverine having 143.5 passor rating Henny's would also be honored all big 10 second team and Rivals stockhom All-American third team after this season Chad would take a step back statistically for his senior year Henny would missed two games after suffering a knee injury as well as for the first time throwing under 2,000 yards Michigan would go 904 for the season and finally win a bowl being the Capital One Bowl against Florida going 4135 with Han's final season he would walk with the school career record for passing touchdowns passing yards and completions he also ties with future dard Robinson with touchdowns responsible for and sits in third in Big 10 for passing touchdowns with Drew Brees and JT Barrett in front Chad entered the 2008 NFL draft where the quarterback class didn't have a standout within it so it was really a long shot on what you got it was between Chad Matt Ryan Joe Flaco and Brian Braum when the draft began Matt Ryan and Joe Flaco were taken in the first round leaving Braum and Henny remaining then the next 10 picks and then another until I picked 56 Brian Braum was selected by the Packers then Chad Hanny was selected by the Dolphins to pick after this would pair him back with his teammate in Michigan Jake Long who was the first pick in the draft it would be a competition for the starter between Henny and newly signed Chad Pennington who was released by the Jets the offseason before on August head coach would announce that Pennington would be the starter and Henny would be the backup Dolphins would go 11 to5 being AFC East Champs but lost to the Ravens and the Wild Card meanwhile Henny would only play three games that season to being against the Patriots 2009 would be in as for Miami would trade up to Washington for the 44th pick and select Pat White who's coming off a solid college career in West Virginia this would once again create an opportunity for Henny to earn starter role for the Dolphins but falls short as Pennington retains the starting role and white gains the backup role meaning Henny was the third string for the first two games it remained so until week three against the San Diego Chargers when Pennington would suffer an injury and Henny would be in the game with the last 20 minutes h would score 10 points but throw a pick six to Eric wed that pushed the Dolphins away from a win losing 13- 23 it would be after that game that Pennington would be diagnosed with a shoulder injury thus ending his season with Pat White being more of an athlete and Miami even traded for Tyler Thigpen Dolphins would make Henny the starter for the first time in his career his first game would be against the bills where he would go up 14 of 22 with one touchdown and lead a win 38-10 the next week I guess Su Jets he would go 20 out of 26 passes for 241 yards with two touchdowns and an underdog win 31 to 27 Henny would now have two wins going into the bye coming out Henny would take Miami 7 to n and miss the playoffs after the 2009th season Pat White would be cut and Henny would finally beat out the competition and start the 2010th season right off the bat things weren't looking good for Henny as he would take the team four to four with the touchdown to interception ratio being 7 to 10 after this Miami would be chenny for pennton for the rest of the season or at least they thought the next game against the Titans Pennington would get injured again and Miami brought in Henny to continue but in the third quarter Henny would get hurt as well bringing it th pen to finish the game penting would be out for the season with another shoulder injury which ultimately ended his career with Henny still recovering th pen had to play against the Bears and lose 60 to zero Henny would come back and play starter for the remaining season he would only get two wins and go 7 to9 once again 2011 would be a stressed year for Miami thick pen and Pennington are gone and Henny hasn't been the answer first they signed Matt Moore and undrafted rookie Pat develin but the big story was the possibility that Miami was going to trade for Kyle Orton Broncos quarterback coming off at 20 touchdown to nine pick season but as the season Drew nearer a or trade never materialized I Devin would be cut and ultimately Moore would play back up behind Henny for the beginning of the Season Chad would gain success for the first three game as a passer but would go 0 and three to start off the season on week four get the Chargers Henny would suffer shoulder injury to his non-throwing arm ending his season Dolphins would go six and 10 and would fire prior head coach Tony Soprano in week 13 and replace him with Todd BS to finish the season it would be announced that Miami would not sign Henny back to the team making him a free agent for the first time during the 2012 off season Henny would sign a 2-year deal with the Jaguars being a push for sophomore blink gabber Chad would be the backup for a lot of the Season until week 11 gabber would suffer an injury and Henny would come in joining a very exclusive club with Steve Young to not start the beginning of a game and throw four touchdowns without an interception since the merger he would lose overtime to the Texans 37 to 43 after that game Gabbert would be placed an IR with a torn librum on his non- thron shoulder and Henny would play out the rest of the season Chad would go one and5 to finish the season Chad would remain the backup to Gabbert hen to the 2013 season but by Midway of the Season Henny was the deao starter remaining on Henny would start 13 games Jacksonville would go 4 and 12 even with no success Jaguars would sign Henny to a 2-year extension after the season gabber would be traded and Jacksonville would draft Blake Bortles in the first round and Chow would be the starter going into the 2014 season Chad would not do well going 0 and2 and losing in week three Henny would be benched for Bortles going to the second half and the remainder of the game after moderate progression Bortles would be the starter for the 2015 season with Henny not seeing any action for the first time in his career Chad would sign another 2-year contract with Jacksonville being the back out for 2016 but after the season was over Henny would was structured his contract in 2017 and play it out into the 2018 off season after 2014 Chad will only see action in four games for Relief on March 16th Chad would sign a two-year contract with the Chiefs being backup to Patrick momes for the 2018 season Henny would only appear in one game in week 17 against the Raiders throwing three passes to begin 2019 H would be placed on ir and the Chiefs would sign Matt Moore for his replacement reuniting more and Henny since their Miami days Henny wouldn't be on the team until November when he was activated off IR with more solidifying the backup spot Henny wouldn't play a single snap but would win Super Bowl 54 against the ners sheets would sign Henny to a 2-year extension in 2020 he would sit until week seven against the Broncos when Henny came in relief for momes throwing two passes for 13 yards and a rushing touchdown his first since 2012 a long time since he's done there then in week 17 Andy Reid would announce that Chad would start the season finale against the Los Angeles Chargers being his first start since 2014 in that game Henny would be solid going 26 of 36 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns but the Chiefs would lose 38 to 21 as a backup Henny was most likely not thinking he would play in the playoffs but in the divisional round against Cleveland Browns Mahomes will suffer concussion in the third quarter bringing Henny to save the Chief season with the time he had Henny wasn't necessarily great throwing only 66 yards and one interception but one crucial third down his Hing in trouble trying to run for it running he's going to die for and the Mark is going to be close [Applause] oh there is a play Henny rolling out throws it Hill and the Chiefs to the AFC Henny would convert the third down and solidify the win for Kansas City the Chiefs would rely back to momes making the Super Bowl once again but lose to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021 Henny would take an easier season playing four games and only throwing 82 yards as well as this season the Chiefs would lose to the the Bengals in the conference round of the playoffs the chief would sign Henny for a one-year extension during the 2022 off season it was another quiet season for Chad only playing three games during the regular season coming in for a couple knels but during the playoffs Henny was relied on once again in the divisional round against his former team the Jaguars after Mahomes suffered an injury on his ankle Henny had to play out to halftime and keep the Chiefs hopes alive taking over a quarterback the former Michigan Wolverine from out of his own End Zone to Travis Kelsey Henny facing third three facing pressure AR key hits him he completes it Kelsey made a man miss got a [Music] first and Kelsey in the end zone for another touchdown Henny would score before the half and Mahomes would come back to seal the win the Chiefs would make the Super Bowl once again against the Eagles and the Chiefs would win 38-35 making Chad a two time Super Bowl winner as a backup shortly after the win Henny would announced on his Instagram that he would be retiring after this Milestone the team has so much belief in Chad he's won divisional games um about coming in and and playing everybody trusted Chad that's the best part that's the way he handles himself and the confidence the guys have in him since then he's still involved with the football world he has been coaching at his former high school he's done some Subway commercials with his former Chiefs quarterback and with the wake of Aaron Rogers injury got a call from the Jets but he declined and chose to stay retired Chad Henny had an eventful career yes he struggled as a starter but after his prime became a reliable backup that would win two Super Bowl rings an accomplishment so difficult that getting one Super Bowl ring is just as hard I like to think Henny would not want his career to go any other way regardless i' like to wish Chad Henny a happy retirement ever since I got here in 2018 this is one of the best Oran ganizations I've ever been a part of everybody supports one another
