[Applause] the bounce house and it's easy to see why they call it that home of the nights of UCF what do you think about that and this crowd is ready for a big one and while today is the final home game of the season for one team it is more importantly a celebration senior day as we'll see the number 19 team in the country the Utah you taking on a squad hoping to prevent another L this week the UCF night glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis David Po and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to Tee It Up will kick it away to start us off he'll bring it out it's parks and the coverage team gets the returner on the ground so the Utah Utes offense is going to be backed up thanks to that lackluster return and here comes the big fella a stap of this aerial attack Jesse and he's a guy they can line up all over the field David there's matchups out there waiting to be taken advantage of yeah and it's so nice to be able to do that it makes it easy to play quarterback when you can feature a guy like this that's fast big and strong really important for a ranked team going into a hostile environment like this one not to give the underdog reason to believe yes reason to believe and don't give the fans reason to get jacked up and excited come out early be in a business mode mindset you got to start fast you got to have a sense of urgency you cannot come sleepwalking into an environment like this because if you do and you make some mistakes this crowd will pounce on you and sees momentum got three on first down it's second and seven the give to the back he maybe gets a yard they'll Mark him at the 29 Ball's at the 29 defense can taste getting off the field it's third and long back to throw it's rying working on the right so important to convert these third downs and they get it done they'll have it at the 42 they'll go back to the ground and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for nothing they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 one back in the back field and they'll give it to it well I think a big part of this isn't necessarily scoring a touchdown on that plate but you're just trying to get your offensive line in the rhythm of the game what those Big Fellas get lathered up right down the middle got him downfield and they got the defense on that one and they get it to the 29 yd Line That's What's So Scary About This offense they've got guys in the perimeter that can change the game in one single play and you saw it right there too much speed on the perimeter to create that explos exposive play gets it out fast they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground to cover to pick up the first and this will be the ninth play of the drive looking for room it's woods they make the stop give him three yards on the carry balls at the 24 this third down play more than manageable from the 24 can the defense Stand Tall he's got his man and this one will be stopped for no gain and on fourth down here comes the field goal unit it is good and that'll put the first points of the game on the board it's three to nothing [Applause] after putting up a three spot the kickoff unit set to go and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return the knights offense headed onto the field our first look at them today and a big key as this game unfolds is just how aggressive will he be throwing the football at a lock down corner like that yeah and when you're an elite quarterback you think you can do whatever you want to be and you think you can make the right decisions I'm interested to see how much he'll test that quarterback on the other side you know there's a saying there's no defense for a perfect pass but he's got to be extra careful and sharp when he's throwing that guy's way they'll keep it on the ground they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one the knights racing to the line in the hurry up to throw it's Jefferson unloads to the wide out and they fail to hook up on third down they bring the punter onto the field now this will be their first punt of the afternoon first boot of the day is on its way he was called on three times in that loss last week coverage team was down there to Corral him they made the Stop and they'll mark it at the 39 the Utah offense returns ready to go back on the attack they'll run it and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up went to the running game on first down now here they come again the give to the running back from the shotgun they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one they've got some work to do on this third and long from the 40 from the gun wants to pass fires into traffic picked off and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception and the senior just took that one out of the air and sends it the other way and I tell you what when defenses Play Zone all eyes are on the quarterback you have a Zone to drop to but you're setting on the quarterback reading his eyes great job by the defense understanding the ball was coming out breaks on the football goes makes the in the UCF offense back on the field ready to go to work the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhythm in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out for backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum might as well run him until they stop him he's got it again the counter play is a great play to mix in because defensively you you're not looking for the counter you're looking to attack attack attack all of a sudden two guys pull across the formation now you got to change your direction really quickly and it keeps you off balance and really keeps you on your ears the knights have it with a first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run and he gets it back to the four yd line no farther than that no gain on the play can the defense stop them again on second and goal from the gun the ground game and he takes it to the house touchdown Knights and I like the running back's Vision he sees the hole explodes through it he knows where the goal line is Gets In The End Zone gets six they'll try to add another to their lead [Music] and the extra point is good and it's a four-point lead a very efficient five play scoring drive and they finish it off with the score from the four on the move from inside is five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 Utah has a back and the offense coming onto the field going to run it it's glover all the way out to the 37 yd line it's a gain of 15 they really got things moving on this drive second play of the drive comes from the 37 they're going to ride this running back he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 going to the running game stuffed almost in his tracks but strong enough to pick up one to the 35 if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away and the yous will line up to punt it away first one of the day is is on its way and he's been sort of scarce around here only called on one time in that loss last week now the UCF offense ready to go back to work really good balance on that last Drive they mixed it up all over the place Jesse yeah how nice too to have the defense on their heels because at this point they don't know what's coming at them they had problems stopping everything that last Drive did so I think this defense would come back with a little more aggressiveness I mean they let them have what they wanted now they got to dictate to this offense a little bit move gets the nose of the ball to the 25 give him one back to throw it's Jefferson getting some heat and he can't escape and down he goes just a great job defensively making him go through his progressions and he really didn't have time to do it and that's exactly what you do in zone coverage you drop in your spots you read the quarterback's eyes make sure you take away that quick stuff and a great job rushing the passer and getting in the sack the knights will try to pin them back with the punt this will be the second time they've had to kick it away on the return it's Stanley the solid return there offsets some of the punt yardage and really sets up this offense nicely the Utah offense returns ready to go back on the attack receiver looks it in it's complete and he was a able to get away from one tackle but plenty of help was on the way decent pickup on that play takes the hand off it's glover the yous will have a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs off the play fake on first down throws to the wide out and that incomplete pass caused by the big hit on first down second down coming after the misfire now on second down power football with the Run got room at the 35 he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down defense is going to have their hands full trying to stop this guy they better rally to the football and get multiple hats cuz he is not easy to bring down and the youth have their offense in high high gear movement here from the tight end they'll give it to him again they get him stopped after a two- yd game ball is at the 17 after picking up a couple at second and eight the give to the back and he does a really nice job finding open space and making a good gain before the stop is [Applause] made on Third and short the run and looking for the first down he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a [Applause] couple that's the end of the quarter and UCF has the lead guys let's have a look at the stats as we've played one period [Applause] they are lined up and ready to go and get things started here in the second they'll try to cap off this drive with a field goal it's good they'll kick it away after putting up a field goal on that last Drive fielded In The End Zone it's Johnson nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop up to that return at the 22 UCF has it once again what do you think about that from the gun they'll try to impose their running game they finally make the stop with the big run is plenty to move those sticks for the first down the knights want to pick up the [Applause] tempo right back to the well good pick up on the ground and they'll Mark him down at the 39 halfway there on first down it's second second and five from the gun they'll give it on the inside they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they need it and he's out to the 43 off the bootleg to buy a little space and he got smacked just as he released the pass it's incomplete the knights send out the punt unit he'll call for the fair catch here Utah has it back and the offense coming onto the field dbe they couldn't pay off that last drive with a touchdown now they moved the ball down the field and executed like they wanted to until they stalled out and had to settle for a field goal I think if you want to take the next step two here and score a touchdown you got to start finding more creative ways to get your best players the ball let's see if they can do that here right back to it and he finds enough Running Room and he's marked down at the 20 You' got a third and manageable backed up in your own end but convert here and you get some momentum trying to pick it up on the ground gets the job done on third down as he gets it to the 25 before he's brought down the yous will have it first and 10 he's going to pass throwing right right on the money to the outside he drag the toe and how about the ball placement only the receiver could get it on the run it's glover a run up the middle is stuck for No Gain got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 finds his Target down the middle he is going no nowhere stopped at the line of scrimmage the de thinking bring some heat on Third and long from the 44 get it out on the screen and he never had a chance as soon as he caught it the defense was right there and the yous will punt it away on fourth down this will be the second time they've had to kick it away no return coming he'll call for the fair catch the UCF offense back on the field ready to go to work that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to solve the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them he'll pull it on the read nice solid form tackle from this sophomore the knights in the hurry up quarterback flips it ahead quickly to the receiver he's right there to stop him but the quick throw and catch enough to give them the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs little touch pass to the receiver he is stopped behind the line of scrimmage they'll lose yards on that one last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 to the air it's Jefferson finds the tight end and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pickup now facing a third and long they keep attacking through the air he looks that one in nicely and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down well there's a great example of the receiver working back to his quarterback on the curl route against man coverage he drives back towards the football makes the catch and gets the first down now and you got to read it quick right and he makes a quick decision gets that thing out of his hand but make sure your feet are set and you still got to be accurate even though you're trying to get rid of that ball so fast and they'll bring him down after a short pickup they've made clutch tough plays on this drive on third down they need one more on Third and seven [Applause] looking to throw safe completion on the screen he steps out of bounds but it will be enough for a first down offense lining up quickly drip drip drip the water droplets keep hitting the forehead the paper cuts keep accumulating and they keep moving the ball down the field David yeah and there's a skill to that I know it's not always the sexy route it's not what everybody wants but man when you take what the defense gives you and you move the ball slowly down the field and your quarterback's making good decisions your offense can put up great numbers and now getting towards the Red Zone try to get some points and he'll get behind those pads and deliver the blow and get it down to the 44 after the strong run on second down third down coming do they do it [Applause] again he'll keep it himself the yous once again fail to get a third down stop the offense lines up at the 40 they've got a first down on the run it's Richardson tried to fight his way through that tackle but he's brought down they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 pulls it on the bootle fake just too much of a rush and down goes the quarterback just behind the Midfield stripe at the 49 you used to play action to try to slow down the rush make the defense hesitant in that case they weren't hesitant at all no they weren't and it was a nice job with respect to effort on defense you saw guys engaged one-on-one they got dudes beating some blocks lots of speed in the front of that defense and you saw it on that play on Third and long no secret what he needs here and Sh tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker the knights will call on their punt team fourth time tonight we've seen this guy come on to punt and he will boom that punt out of bounds no chance for a return let's see where the officials spot it they'll go to the ground they get him stopped at the 32 that's a gain of four solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six they'll run it from the gun and they drag him down but not before he picks up the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs off the play fake on first down to throw he's got it and a nice grab there big pick up down to the 35 yd line this offense is just so dynamic because they've got Playmakers at all the skill positions right we just saw a big play in the running game now we see one in the passing game there's not one dude that you can key on here if you're on defense to try and slow them down and the youths will snap it on First and 10 quickly complete and they picked up nine on first down it'll bring up second and short this quarterback right now is in a Groove and he's doing a nice job in pre-nap he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great Rhythm right [Applause] now kept it on the ground last time let's see if they go back to it on second down hand off from the gun brought to the ground but not before getting enough for the first down they've got it first and 10 from the 25 motion from the offense trying to find his man on first down that's caught it's Alfred really confident throw and catch there big pickup and they have a first down the yous are th thre in in the Red Zone trying to cap this drive with a pass he just wisely got rid of that one the worst thing that can happen to you is to turn it over on first down in the red zone now the play fake he just threw that one away nobody was getting open he had to live to find another play in the Red Zone it'll be thir third down they want to just keep throwing it another incompletion on third down so this field goal unit has been getting the job done they've already made a couple here today and the kicker delivers the three to salvage that drive and they've regained the lead [Applause] they were able to get a field goal on the board and now they'll kick it away on the run from inside own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 now the UCF offense ready to go back to work give to the back he's there to make the stop second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning the clock has reached the two-minute Mark and they have a chance to at least cut into this lead before the break looking to throw it's Jefferson he makes the connction ction and that's the looking man coverage you can throw the hitch route against right when the receiver's got a little bit of access so he's got some room to work with against press you're risking a pick six so good decision there by the Q knowing that was a good look to throw in they got him free for a big Gainer down to the 43 they'll throw it on first down just a short pass to the tight endend they'll pick up four second and Six coming he's looking to throw and that pass intercepted never really got that return cranking but the offense is set up at the 30 not all guys have the ability to to break on the football go make a play and catch it you know you play defense for a reason a lot of the wide receivers the ones that do most of the catching great job by the defense defense secure in the int the Utah offense returns ready to go back on the attack wasting no time throwing on this drive complete with conviction on the Crosser he'll be stopped at the 41 but give him 10 on that play they'll throw throw it on first down fires to the wide out and this senior quarterback a little too bold there and he's lucky he didn't get picked off throwing into double coverage on second down wants to throw it and they couldn't hold off the heat and he goes down with a sack they'll immediately call timeout that's a good example there of complimentary defense the DBS and linebackers are playing Zone they're playing their spaces and they force the Q to to have to hold the ball try to work through his progressions then the pass R they win up front we got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break and the yous decide to pun it away he'll try to really get into this one not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch first down here for the offense he's looking to throw it and it's intercepted a turnover for the defense listen we all want to go back to back but not on interceptions come on now we got to take care of the football let's make sure we change something up on the next drive two possessions two picks offensive coordinator excuse me get the bullpen warmed up Utah has it back and the offense coming onto the field field to the air on first down fires a full and now it's picked off he'll try to take it back the 50 he's at the 30 the 10 and he's going to take it all the way touchdown UCF how about a gamechanging play for this defense stepping in front of the football and knowing what to do with it taking it all all the way to the end [Music] zone now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and with the extra point they're on top by five they got the late touchdown on the board now about to kick it away and hoping the defense can keep them from answering and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 25 the Utah offense returns ready to go back on the attack that last pick six after a drive like that David can swing the momentum of a game the defense is still celebrating I mean such a big play I mean they they gave up some yards but did what they're supposed to do now Jesse this offense has to put a drive together yeah they have to recapture some momentum here what they can't do is what a job to lay out and make the catch there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer looking downfield it's rising and he needed a little bit wider field as that one falls out of bounds and the inp completion brings up a second down for this offense he's looking to throw and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes this will likely be the last play of the half on Third and long you'll need to push it downfield didn't have much of a choice just had to throw that one away it'll be fourth down one more snap coming before halftime on fourth down he'll try to TOS it he's going to throw deep right side he can haul it in incomplete they took a shot but that's how we'll wrap up the half we've played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update all right guys looks like we've got a great scene there in Orlando these two defenses have really been up to the task so far and it's hard to ignore how each of these two secondaries have impacted things they've stayed true to their assignments covering each receiver like a blanket and you know what else they've done they've wrapped up and tackled with that said let's send it back to the guys inside the Bounce House the UTS will kick it off to start the second half here he comes from inside his own five and the returner will be brought down UCF has it once again what do you think about that as they get ready to start this third quarter think how big the lead might be if they' taken care of the ball well the game might be over Reese but if you're on defense right now you've gotten a couple turnovers early and you're saying okay we're going to need to keep this up we got to stay aggressive for us to have a chance to win this game but we believe we can do it yeah you you've already done it so of course you're going to believe it keep playing fast keep playing physical and then tell your offense hey we need a little help over here can you help us out and put some points on the board they'll snap it from the 25 here on first down to the ground he's got it again good solid run on that one as he gets it up to the 33 yd line the Knights moving quickly to the line using his legs it's Harvey he stop him cold maybe gets a yard to the 34 will they keep keep it on the ground again here on third down using his feet and boy is he close to that first down maybe just a couple of inches short the knights will punt this one away they may have to pay him overtime he's punting for the fifth time today fair catch called for and made Utah has it back on the offense coming onto the field we'll see if that failed fourth down in their own end last time David sort of curbed some of the aggress AG when you hear about it all the time in football go for it be aggressive the problem is when you get stopped sometimes it puts you in a hole and Jesse now the offense has to come out and respond they were real disappointed not getting that first down you can see it on the sideline so let's just see if that's kind of galvanized them a little bit here to go make a statement and get some points looking to pass It's ryy Quickly to the tight end and you see tight end match ups all over the field all the time now I used to just be in the red zone now you just find the big fell you put him in the slot try to give him the ball as much as possible cuz you know he can make big plays fair catch called for and take it at the 30 yd line first snap of this drive will come from their own 32 the back goes in motion wants to throw on first down quickly out to the tight end makes a grab and he's dragged down fly getting set on second down a nice job by the defense they're tackling the catch and smothering the tight end they know this offense is going to try to find him in the passing game in a lot of different situations that and that is interception number three on the day and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception man teams that play cover one at an elite level have an elite guy in the middle of the field that he's playing Zone everybody else playing man and he can cover so much ground you watch him run breaks on the football when he needs needs to goes and makes the big interception the Utah offense returns ready to go back on the attack he'll put the tight end in motion coming out on first down with the play fake unloads to the wide out got it in the middle it's Alfred and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play now inside the 2 first and 10 from the 18 some early movement along the offensive line and they'll walk it back so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty after the shower of flags it's first and 15 for this offense one back in the back field he gets the carry defense there to stop him at the 20 let's give him three yards on that carry and the youths are in the Red Zone motion trying to get the defense to show its hand throws to the wide out it's complete couldn't quite nudge it in not sure you could get much closer but it'll be first and goal defense going all in to stop the run wants to throw on first down off the play F and the defense makes a play sacking him back at the 10 I love the awareness by the defense here everyone thinking first down down close to the goal line the offense is going to run the football right but this defense was ready for the chance that the offense might throw it so Defenders playing the pass and getting up field getting to the QB awesome job defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming now on the option gets it inside the 10 picks up a yard they'll mark it at the nine third and goal from way back there looking for a man it's rising he makes a grab touchdown Utah and with that they've got the lead here in the second half a score for the big fella here why are tight ends so effective in the Red Zone well these aren't the guys that are going to burn by you and go for 70 most of the time but when you can use their big body frames threaten them to run the football and beat be a Blocker in the running game and now you slip him in the secondary make that big [Applause] play up by one they're going to try to get the deuce here and make it a field goal lead he wants to throw it catch in the middle it's keithy he gets in there for the two-point conversion and pushes to lead to three lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive he'll bring it out out stopped at the 17 and he's probably second guessing that return the UCF offense back on the field ready to go to [Applause] work they'll run the RPO and throw it right he's there to make the Stop and they threw it in reverse losing yardage on that play well that receiver's looking at his teammates like guys what's up you're not going to block for me on the screen seriously I just lost yards on a screen play how does that happen got his man downfield and he's almost to that first down marker there saying he's a little bit short they might want to bring out the sticks and measure but it looks as if he'll be just short of the first down and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that the knights will bring the punt team onto the field and these guys have been busy sixth punt of the day no return coming here as he said signals for the fair Catch and makes it right around the 30 yd line the offense set for a first down play on the ground it's glover pretty good job of running to get two there to the 32 picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down a little pre- snap eye candy for the defense it's complete on the right side they get him at the 42 but he picked up 10 there they'll snap this one from the 42 it's first and 10 they'll leave it with him and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 out of the shotgun they go to the ground and a good solid pick up there before the defense knocks him down trying to pick up a first down they'll run for it on Third and short that'll be enough for the first down and they'll mark it at the 48 the yous had this offense rolling wide out in motion trying to surprise him with the pass got his man in the middle they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down after that last completion it's second down they'll see if they can find some Running Room on the right here he showed it all there a little elusiveness a little power and he's got the first down and the yous come to the line with a fresh set of downs they're going to go right back to him on first down you know it's so important for offense is to want to keep third Downs manageable the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first down to the air it's rising fires to the right a strike downfield touchdown Y and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house offense gets the job done again you want to build that cushion as we get deeper into the second half man it makes it easy doesn't it you start getting up by a couple possessions making the offense very predictable on the other side great job by the offense extending their [Applause] lead ready to try the point after and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead a 70 yd touchdown drive and they cap things off with a scoring toss from 27 yds out he'll bring it out it's Johnson rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out as he stopped at the 13 now the UCF offense ready to go back to work they are trailing by 10 here Jesse but this is the type of team that seems comfortable in an offensive shootout you got to hold serve at this point right you got to drive the field put some more points up on the board yeah they just scored you can answer that now and keep this thing close David and I think you're used to that as offense like football is so fastpaced now and you score so quickly it's not that big of a deal to get down 10 you keep being you keep being aggressive that's about as close as you can get to that marker and it will be second and just a few breaths away from the first down man when I can run the football like that on first down and create second and inches and he'll take a deep shot here grabs it at the 25 in stri touchdown Knights that is the ultimate grab and go for the score when you can run like that the quarterback is going to give you opportunities and look at him run by the Defenders QB sees it stick the hand up in the air catch the football get to the end [Music] [Applause] zone Pat unit on the field and with the extra point every little bit counts as they get closer about to kick it away after scoring the [Applause] touchdown he'll bring it back from inside to spot he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Utah has it back and the offense coming onto the field now run it behind the big guys on the left didn't find a lot of room let's give him two out to the 20 after picking up a couple at second and eight the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D he'll do it himself really nice stop there from this senior leader trying to move the sticks on third down dropping back it's ryy and he throws his third pick of the day his head has to be spinning and what a return as he takes it back to the eight the defense has been all over this quarterback all game long it's almost as if they know where he's going to throw that now the third interception he's [Music] thrown and the offense suddenly with an an opportunity it couldn't have expected with a first and goal after the pick they'll try to get it in with the run draged down at the six after a pick up of two the knights come to the line in the hurry up on second down he'll let it fly got it behind the line it's Harvey and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land they'll try to pass it in on Third and goal pulls it in in the end zone touchdown UCF and how about the offense they spread them out everybody spread wide easier to read a defense when you do that they find the matchup they want and they get rewarded with the score [Music] lining up for the Pat and the extra point is good and it's a four-point lead quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and the score comes on a 5yd touchdown pass and he takes this from inside the five good job by the coverage unit to stop the Return Man the Utah offense return turns ready to go back on the attack they go to the ground danced his way through traffic pick up of four to the 19 offense gets set for second down that's the end of the quarter and UCF has the lead and as we switch ends of the field let's take a quick look at the national rankings [Applause] one quarter to go and might we have the makings of a classic fourth quarter finish they move the tight end all over they go right back to him and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play offense breaks the Huddle it's third down [Applause] the hand to the running back they'll pick up the first down as he gets it out to the 27 yd line the Utes come to the line with a new set of downs quarterback on the keeper he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and third leaves it with the back push down for the tackle and I know it's not a first down um but I still like the way they they ran the football here just try to make the next third down manageable try to get it where it's not as predictable I think the offense did a really good job being smart there taking what the defense gave him he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short he'll get away another punt he's been really ACC today and no doubt he's going to earn his varsity lad UCF has it once again what do you think about that they'll move the running back to try to force the defense to adjust catch in the middle it's Johnson they'll rip off eight on that play it's second and two the knights headed quickly to the line you know the defense doesn't have an answer for this slot guy right now they may want to think about bracketing him having a Defender play to the outside and to the inside probably some sort of Zone coverage where you're trying to get two bodies forcing the quarterback to have to go somewhere else with the ball they'll ride the hot hand defense fills those gaps he's got one to the 28 didn't get much on first down it's second and nine pre- snap Motion in the back field dropping back it's Jefferson he's got him in the flat and he'll make his way out of bounds after the solid pickup these are the types of plays where offenses impose their will third and short from the 45 he'll pull it on the read great pickup as they'll keep this drive moving and they've got it at the 45 the knights are moving quickly down the field there's an example of the offense taking advantage of all the attention the defense is giving this outstanding running back remember he's one of the best in the game they're expecting him to get the football ball so the quarterback says you know what I'll just keep it no one's keying on me I'm going to get up field and find an explosive play he's piled up 87 yards on the ground and he's been terrific All Season ranking in the top 10 in rushing it's a point in the game I think as a coaching staff where you really challenge your offensive line to go win the football game right we've got a lead late we're going to run the football and the defense and everybody in the stadium knows that's what's going to happen can we run the ball down their throats and impose our will that's what this offense right now is trying to do they'll try the right side defense there to stop him after he picked up a yard Ball's at the 17 this offense could not have executed in this situation any better just draining some time off the clock on second down he'll fire and that's going to fall to the ground ground incomplete that was a physical matchup there third down coming they'll ride the running back and leave it with him and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop so on fourth down here comes the field goal kicker in a huge spot and it's right down the boulevard that's a huge kick right there because now the opponent has to score a touchdown here in the fourth quarter that put so much pressure on the opponent nice job by the Special Teams going out and executing it a big [Music] moment so after putting three on the board the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away he'll start the return inside his spot nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 Utah has a back and the offense coming onto the field David the putter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the punter out there this offense needs to get back lathered up and get a little bit more of a rhythm best way to do that identify where your best players are and just get them the football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this offense didn't find a lot of room let's give him two out to the 20 dropping back it's rising he's right on Target and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down and the youths line up to punt it away they're up to a half dozen kicks today you'll settle for some pretty good field position and make the fair catch at around the 35 guys this offense will go back on the attack on the run it's Harvey that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there the knights are in the hurry up out of the gun they'll run it inside not a whole lot of progress made there on the short run here they come facing third and long from the [Applause] 40 from the gun wants to pass fires to the big fella and he's knocked down but not before moving the chain the knights with the first and 10 well this defense has given up some big plays in this game so far but they've got a lot of Talent on that side of the football someone has to step up here make a play get a stop and put their team in a position to win they get him on the ground at the 37 but give him 15 yds on that chunk play and they'll move the chains off the play fake on first down the th throw and the quarterback will be slung down back at the 43 we've seen this defensive end make a lot of plays in The Run game he's setting the edge he's forcing the football to go back inside but he's not a one-trick pony he can also get out of his stance use his hands and use his speed to beat offensive tackles and get to the QB that's the last thing you want as an offense a negative play a sack on first down caught near the sideline it's Johnson and that defense pushing him out of bounds after a short gain hand off from the shotgun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three the knights will send out the punt unit they call it a coffin corner kick for a reason and you really can't do it any better than that he puts that thing out of bounds right around the goal line handoff to the lone back and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine when with the running game on first down now back at it from the gun the running back has it hits him with a stiff arm and excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pickup before the defense put a stop to it takes a hand off it's glover they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one lost one on that last one it's second and [Applause] 11 from the gun they'll try to impose their Will finds a little bit of space gets three to the 22 and if you didn't know this was a big play the crowd is telling you a huge third down showing the arm strength to the left oh and he gets downfield for the big catch slippery slide find his way and ran away from the crowd into the end zone touchdown Utah this receiver is dangerous because of what he can do after the catch once he has the football he is so good at making Defenders miss you saw it on that play he'll try to tack on one more and no problem on that extra point and we have a tie ball game here in the fourth I tell you this quarterback has just been in a great Rhythm all game long with that last completion he's is now over 300 yd passing fielded In The End Zone it's Johnson really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 the UCF offense back on the field ready to go to work off play action on first down makes the grab just what they were looking for to get this drive rolling they're out to the 35 the defense has their hands full trying to stop this guy in the slot they're going to have have to figure something out to bracket him try and get two bodies around and maybe get some safety help as well cuz right now they do not have the answer for and there was nowhere to go for this quarterback and down he goes the clock has stopped as we have reached the two-minute warning here in the ball game back to throw it's Jefferson tight end finds a soft spot they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down Indie Car tempo as they head to the line for this third down play clock running from the gun wants to pass and a missed opportunity on third down as the defense knocks it free and fourth down is coming up the knights will line up to pun it away bringing it back it's Stanley and he's going to get it up to about the 29 yd line before he's brought down the Utah offense returns ready to go back on the attack they'll start this drive with a pass coming after him and the pressure will get there the sack down he goes in the waning moments that could be a costly play sometimes you beat your guy and you get sacked so clean and sometimes like on this play the DBS do a great job covering make the QB hold the football and then the rush gets home and now to try to put things in motion on second and long from the 15 he's looking to throw snagged in the middle it's keii they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks time out on the field and we've got a Dand all tied up right in the fourth and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way on the move it's Townson coverage team gets the job done and they'll Mark him down at the 38 yd line now the UCF offense ready to go back to work the offense really couldn't ask for much more than this Jesse you're right with this much time on the clock David the playbooks wide open you don't have to just be throwing it every down you can sprinkle in some runs too yeah and you find out what your quarterback's about Big Time Prime Time moment you got the ball tie game you want to go win and he can't find anyone open and down he goes a sack here late in the fourth the offense will have to use its first timeout of the half out of the gun the give to the back and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker the defense calls the timeout there second of the day as they try to get their action together the knights will try to pin them back with the [Applause] punt they'll get down and put a stop to this return they'll mark it at the 32 a first down for the offense he wants to throw fires to the wide out grabbed in the middle it's Parks the offense takes a timeout with 30 seconds left he'll come out throwing on first down makes the catch along the sidelines and steps out of bounds let's see what they've got on second down back to pass it's rising they're trying to get to it nothing doing down field he'll cut his losses and throw it away it'll be third down we'll see if they go back to the air after after the incompletion it's third and [Applause] five didn't have anything working and just had to throw it away on third down the yous send out the punt unit a fairly short distance here toward the sidelines not his best work offense set on first [Applause] down caught in the back field it's Pitman and an absolutely Fearless tackle giving up size still got him on the turf well guys let's play some more headed to overtime and this just feels right both of these teams going back and forth so of course David this thing needs to get decided in OT let's see who's better short amount of time to do it a couple possessions probably maybe one possession each who's the better team all right guys so here we go in overtime and just to refresh everyone's memory alternating possessions starting on the opponent's 25 and it's so nice to be on defense first just to set the tone to understand what you need try to hold them to a field goal the offense knows they can do their job to go out and get a win just two possessions Palmer like you got to be at your best yeah and I love the new rules too because in the third overtime possession it goes to alternating two-point plays back and forth who's got anything left in the tank here in OT going up top on first down and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball after the quarterback and receiver failed to hook up they'll try it again on second down off the play fate with the catch it's keii and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one [Applause] running back searching for a hole not a lot of daylight there let's give him one to the 14 going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down the running back has it pulled down after a pick up of five they'll mark it at the eight the terrain gets rough this deep in the Red Zone third down they can pick up the first without scoring he wants it all and good coverage and better hands on that shot to the end zone so they'll send out the field goal team to try to take the lead here in overtime never a doubt right down the middle and now they take the lead down by three it's their turn here in overtime a touchdown will win it here's first down looking to go up top on first down deep shot for the end zone and swatted down by the defense to stop the scoring opportunity didn't connect last time let's see if they throw it again on second down and they try to run inside and there is nowhere to go they haven't gotten much done here third down and they need to at least pick up a few to make the field goal attempt easier back to pass it's Jefferson he's got it man they make the stop but the sweet throw and catches plenty to give him a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs looking to move it through the air it's complete that throw and catch gets them down to the six and the defense is running out of answers going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone oh and this one's picked off a huge overtime turnover [Applause] inside the 50 the 30 the 20 touchdown use how about that D coming up with a play like that I know how to sum up this game succinctly that was fun and what a victory to remember fun for them fun for us just the back and forth um games that are so nip and Tuck and you know every play matters so much these are the games that we love to call yeah every play matters David and that's why coaching staffs practice overtime scenarios and situations throughout the week it's important to drill these types of scenarios you never know what games are going to go to OT and when they do you
