NRL 2023 Round 11 Review| Panthers BBQ Roosters, Raiders 5 in a Row, Ponga and Knights Back to Best

Intro foreign hey everyone and welcome to ruin Hammer's weekly NRL round review uh this week we're going to take a quick look at the results from round 11. uh before we get started I invite you all to that subscribe button now uh a Round 11 Review good result in round 11 for us we got back in the Winners Circle uh there was a few upsets though in the round and the cream really rising to the top in some games yeah yeah my some interesting results so let's go through them now our round 11 kicked off on Thursday night at Amy Park in Melbourne with the storm hosting the Broncos Broncos wouldn't know what's going on it's a rare game outside of Queensland for them 24 warbrick with the double monster and all them tries many four from Seven the Broncos 16. farnworth arthas and takes tries Walsh two from three and the Brisbane Broncos played only their third game of the season outside of Queensland and just their fourth game away from suncorp Stadium uh yeah smacked on the back side of the rainbow yeah amazing stat uh considering it's round 11 and it was a very fiery encounter between these two sides plenty of feeling shown as there always is between these two teams yeah and an early try for Melbourne through cam months they've got the storm off to a great start for the Broncos they rewarded a rare penalty try to Herbie farnworth a game-ending injury to Adam Reynolds inside the opening 20 minutes was a massive blow for the Broncos to overcome as to the two sin bins and a match our first Herbie farnworth sinbin for professional foul and second uh sin binning the Broncos Pat Carrigan for a was deemed a hit drop tackle on Nelson and Cypher solomona and Melbourne with a try and two penalty goals during those sinbin periods took the game from the Broncos then a further two sin bins late in the game just added to the spectacle and the storm continuing their winning streak over the Broncos to 13 straight victories yeah amazing uh the early game on Friday night mate was the Bulldogs at home at Stadium against our one New Zealand Warriors uh the Warriors playing their fourth game in 17 days a massive thing for the club to overcome but overcome they did the Warriors 24 Karen for newer Blake will tell he's a lesniak and Ronnie Volkman tries uh Johnson Four from four goals the Bulldogs 12 came from Harrison and ockenborg drives Burton two from two goals uh mate with Sean Johnson launching bombs and chance nickel cookster defusing them the Warriors ran out 24 12 of winners over the Bulldogs at a course Stadium playing as well as their own season in the NRL 32 year old Sean Johnson came up with two triceps two Force dropouts and a massive 722 kick meters as the Warriors racked up their sixth win of 2023. um to hear our full game review tune into our live show on Wednesday night for all our expert thoughts and opinions that's it and the second Friday night game was the Panthers hosting the roosters at Blue bet stadium in penrith what a blood buff uh Panthers 48 Sirens Edwards Toto and river and Louis tries Theory eight from eight the rest of these four points came from Corey Allen e Zero from one Jerome Lui he made the undeniable claim for the New South Wales number six and Scott Sorensen produced the best game of his career as the Panthers they ran out 48 to four winners against the poor roosters outfit uh the Panthers put the match to bed by half time with four unanswered tries the second half started the same way as the first ad uh first that ended for the roosters with errors crawling any chance they had of mounting pressure but their defense held firm until the 61st minute when the Panthers skipped out to a 30-0 lead and the Panthers they've now extended their record at home to 30 wins from their past 33 games amazing and have now won their past seven games against the roosters with the roosters having not tasted victory at Blue bet Stadium since 2017. that's a huge start you know considering the roosters were like the form team of the comp you know 2019 2020 uh 2018 as well you know so yeah uh mate Super Saturday kicked off with Super Saturday Review the rabbitohs up against the Tigers at a core Stadium a second game at a core stadium in two days uh the rabbitoh is 20 uh Milner double Mitchell tries Mitchell four from four goals over the Tigers the big fat duck egg zero um and it was a double from tarne Milne which helped the rabbits to a card for 20 to nil win over the West Tigers uh the rabbits have now won six on the Trot the best streak by any team in the in 2023 and they moved to the top of the NRL ladder courtesy of a superior points differential over the Broncos the score really wasn't an indication of how this game was played though the Tigers showing some real metal and some real grit uh to keep the rabbitohs to just one try up until the second minute uh and then Tony Milne he had a day out for the South with two tries three tackle breaks and 256 running meters from these 25 runs um thankfully for us Warrior supporters we're not the only team who have been kept scoreless now for 2023 and this was a bigger score so yeah bad luck tigers yeah sorry talks yeah but yeah a joke aside they were they are a much improved side and um yeah they were much better than that final score line indicator yeah um yeah the second of the survey games was the Cowboys at home at Queensland Country Bank Stadium against the struggling dragons uh the dragons half Ben Hunt though is playing his Milestone 300th game joining Elite group of plays becomes the 47th um to reach that Milestone so massive congratulations to Ben a home six from seven and a massive two-point field goal uh just slotted it like it was nobody's business and the dragons 22 to Belen sua ravalawa and Suli tries Sullivan one from one bird one from two buy one from one but yeah the Cowboys they recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season with a comfortable 42-22 victory over the dragons to unfortunately spoil the Milestone man Ben Hunt's 300th game it was fitting starts of the game with the man of the moment Ben Hunt creating the opening try for the dragons and then a seventh minute uh seven minute heart first half flurry which saw the Cowboys running three tries while Jaden Sullivan was in the Sin bin put the game Beyond doubt early a fourth uh unanswered try and a valholm's two-point field goal gave the Cowboys a commanding 24-6 half-time lead at both teams traded tries in the second half but it was the dragons with missed opportunities poor handling and who were their own worst enemies uh Moses surely one of the worst of them to be fair and the Cowboys getting a 20-point win at home to record back-to-back victories for the first time in 2023. yeah it kind of makes you wonder how a guy like Moses sorely with all his um errors in his game can be in that side ahead of the guy like Zach Lomax and but Anthony Griffin hooking uh his halfback Jaden Sullivan in the 30th minute not knowing him back on after his sin bidding for the rest of the match was bizarre stuff from from the coach and it looks like his days are numbered now uh all the talk in the media is that he will be showing the door tomorrow uh with no uh relief coach uh actually listed as yet uh and it must be said poor form from the dragons board members too there was a massive uh dinner honoring Ben Humphrey's 300th game uh that all the players and the coaching staff attended but not one board member or sponsor intended that absolute disrespect to one of the games best and definitely the dragon's best um yeah sure something or something something not quite right down there absolutely not uh okay mate Super Saturday ended in the cold Nations Capital with the Raiders at home against the Eagles at Gio stadium and it was the Sunday Review Raiders uh 26 tries to hop away Young Chris and timacore uh Croaker five from six goals over the eels 18 hop good Simpson and Stevo tries gufferson three from four goals um really entertaining game this in the nation's capital saw the Raiders continue on their winning run and the eel's struggling to get their season under any sort of control uh in a cold and challenging conditions Ricky's side were made to work for it against the Parramatta side missing star half-back Mutual Moses but they executed their opportunities to Perfection uh to run out eight point winners in the end there was little between the two sides really throughout the first half with penalty goals traded early on before the Raiders took control of the game through a 56 possession stat and 86 percent Mission compared to the eels poor 63 completions the result is canberra's fifth win in a row since suffering that heavy defeat to the penrith in round five and moves them into fifth spot on the Telstra Premiership ladder while the eels remain in the competition's bottom four with just four wins in 11 weeks I must have uh must have sticky sticky crying tears of joy this time absolutely yeah yeah Sunday 40 kicked off in Newcastle McDonald Jones Stadium with the Knights fresh from a uh from a mid mid-season trip to Bali uh they looked very refreshed um and yeah they they came up against the visiting Titans who have been impressive themselves and it was the knights 46 best two young two Frizzell maju ponga and gagai tries Miller seven from nine against the Titans 26. and it was David defeated with a double Sammy Campbell can't Pereira tries Boyd three from five in a high scoring but entertaining contest it was a second half try scoring Blitz from the knights that earned a much needed win at home after both teams were were tied up at 12 all at half time the Titans jumped out to an 18-12 lead before the knights went on try scoring Blitz they scored four tries in 15 minutes to go out to a commanding lead and they were buoyed by Caleb ponga who scored a try himself and had a hand in three others uh letting the Queensland selectors know that he's more than ready for origin selection and it was a highly entertaining clash with 13 tries in total being scored included a tri-double to David feder for the Titans his second try a 90 meter runaway effort late in the contest and that should see him return to the origin arena in 2023 no sign of the tb122 with Big Dave he showed a clean pair didn't he he did he was running away from the outside backs um yeah yeah that was awesome man and a massive shout out today for feeder uh Jaden Campbell Dane gagai and Dominic Young Who all scored in that game and got uh hammer a well-needed bolte that paid 180 so I haven't was quite happy about that one on your boys on your boys thank you uh mate the magic number again for the Titans six that's five weeks in a row they've now scored exactly 26 points unheard of um I don't know who they're playing this week spooky stuff yeah I don't know who they're playing this week but whoever it is they only need to score 27 to win 27 in their home yep uh the final game around 11 was played on the Northern beaches with the sea eagles at home at four points against the Sharkies um it was the sharks who ran out 20-14 winners for the Sharks try scorers hunt katoa and raymian Heinz four from four goals and for the seagulls 14 it was Garrick and Croaker tries and Garrick three from three goals um Sharky's they produced a what you probably saw controlled performance to record Another Victory against the seagulls sharks held manly trailers in the opening 40 minutes as they scored two tries to lead 14-2 at half time uh I tried to Jesse Ramey in the second half highlighted a huge confirmative concern for the seagulls with Tommy trevorovich defending on that left wing and really unable to keep Pace with uh Britain nikora who who basically ran away from him um I guess it puts Tommy in a question mark about origin now he's not fit and I don't think you would want to risk him in that origin Arena uh so I guess trying too hard to get back and it's yes it's really not working for him no and you've got to you've got to assume that there's going to be there's other guys that can play in that Center position that uh are playing better footy at the moment a guy like Campbell Graham who probably deserves his shot uh in a origin Jersey uh Mike Manley showed tremendous grit and determination to get themselves back into the contest with two tries in the second half to get within six points with five minutes remaining but the shark is held on for a solid win nothing to really ride home about but I mean round 11 two points is two points isn't it ah sure is and the dolphins mate they had the Buy bye excellent quite well yeah the NRL ladder looks like this after round 11. so the Broncos will be knocked off the top of the table for the first time this season and the rabbitohs of the new competition leaders on points differential both teams on 16 points yeah the Broncos as we said drop the second then there's five teams on 14 points the Panthers in third the sharks in fourth the storm in fifth and the Dolphins into six and the Raiders in seven and the big move is in the competition off the back of five straight wins were the Raiders yeah and the Warriors returns to the top eight in eight spot with the Titans in ninth and the roosters in tenth all three sides on 12 competition points the knights and manly 11th and 12th both on 11 competition points the Cowboys win moves them into 13th on 10 points the eels and the Bulldogs on eight points each are in 14th and 15th respectively with the dragons in the 16th and the tigers are still in 17th with both teams on six competition ports yeah and I'm I'm thinking that the dragons uh uh odds on now to get that wooden spoon they're a club in so much turmoil um so much turmoil great to see our boys return to the top eight mate uh we've only spent that one week out of the top eight um so the win against the doggies gets us back in there and mate to talk about that win uh we'll be
